The Museo Archeologico e Storico Artistico "Antiquarium Arborense" is a significant museum in West Sardinia, established in 1938 to honor the renowned scholar Oristano Giuseppe Pau. It houses an extensive collection of archaeological treasures dating back to various ages, from the Neolithic period to the Roman era. The museum also preserves important Spanish works from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
It's a good museum with many objects from Tharros. Dogs are welcome and there is a tactile museum, which was great.

It is worth for its nuraghic statues/idols, civilization I don't know at all. It was fine, but too few english descriptions, and even descriptions in italian have not been helpful in understanding what i'm looking at. And overprized.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, also known as the Duomo di Oristano, is the largest cathedral in Sardinia and a popular attraction in Oristano. Its origins date back to around 1130 and it was built within a Paleo-Byzantine structure. The cathedral has undergone various renovations due to poor conditions, with its construction reflecting Romanesque style.
Beautiful!!! One of the nicer cathedrals I’ve seen.
Ina K — Google review
Beautiful and peacefully place
Korhan ( — Google review
The cathedral is absolutely gorgeous. It's pleasant enough outside with its facade & tower ... ... but inside it is stunningly beautiful. Each chapel is tastefully decorated in a different style.
David S — Google review
We walked around the corner from Hotel Duomo to the Cathedral of Santa Maria - this was fabulous, built in the twelfth century and then remodelled in the eighteenth. Not the usual gaudy Catholic display but muted colours, very limited gilding and a really nice atmosphere with some beautiful artworks. I couldn't see how to access the bell tower though which was a shame.
Marcus H — Google review
After visiting hundreds of churches and temples and cathedrals and ruins, I get a bit cynical, but this one really touched me. You could really feel the love of God that went into its craftsmanship, and it's gorgeous.
Norm Y — Google review
Beautiful cathedral. This is beauty art as well a place to rest. Definitely a must see.
Jerome G — Google review
Didn't eat, BUT! The only place open and in the sun, next to the cathedral. We wanted some antipasti before dinner a bit later. They didn't serve antipasti, but the kind waiter said they served complimentary snack with drinks. It was a big serving and the wine was good, the price good too. Thanx! :) And the baobab seeds sold by the nice Senegali man, hope they grow. 🫶

Churches & Cathedrals
Chiesa di San Francesco is a centuries-old church located in the historic center of Oristano. The church boasts a marvelous and spacious interior adorned with numerous famous artworks and sculptures, including the renowned 14th century wooden sculpture of Crocifisso di Nicodemo. Originally built in Catalan/Gothic style, the church underwent a Renaissance transformation after a partial collapse in the sixteenth century. Adjacent to the church is the convent where Conventual Friars Minor reside.

Pleasant church in the centre of Oristano. It is officiated by Franciscan monks who have lived in the adjacent monastery since 1253.
David S — Google review
(Translated by Google) Adjacent to the Church of San Francesco it houses the Franciscan fathers. The convent of San Francesco mentioned in the will of the judge of Arborea Ugone II in 1335. The building witnessed important historical moments in the political and religious life of the Giudicato of Arborea: in fact, the highest authorities of the friars used to meet in the refectory of the friars Kingdom of Arborea, and in the same hall the peace treaty was signed in 1388 between Eleonora and the Catalan-Aragonese king John I the Soccer player. Unfortunately, the vast complex, after almost six centuries, lost cohesion and consistency and disappeared almost entirely with the complete transformation, due to the new construction between 1835 and 1838. The famous crucifix, known as the Nicodemus crucifix, is placed in a particular place in the church. It is a polychrome sculpture believed to be mainly from the Valencian school and certainly inspired by the Rhine. The crucifix is ascribed to the tragic and torn type and of the most heartbreaking agony, which the nascent German Expressionism also spread in Spain. Venerated on September 14th for the festival and fair on the occasion of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the crucifix can be dated to the first half of the 1300s, perhaps brought to Oristano from Tuscany. At the beginning of the 19th century the Gothic church threatened to collapse and in 1834 it was completely rebuilt. The task of carrying out the work was given to the Cagliari-born architect Gaetano Cima who, in reconstructing it, used the neo-classical style and was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, building a pronaos with 4 columns on the outside and on the inside, as well to the main altar and a small semicircular choir, 4 high chapels and 2 false and low chapels. On 22 May 1855, as a result of the "law of suppression" of religious orders, part of the convent and its furnishings were confiscated by the State Property Office. The monastery, on 24 August 1866, was occupied by the Military District and the adjacent garden was given as a free concession to the religious people who continued to officiate at the church, but living in private homes. In January 1875 the Franciscans redeemed the small infirmary of the convent and settled there. They still remain in the convent church today: The crucifix of Nicodemus; A marble statue of the Holy Bishop Basilio (a work by Nino Pisano from the 14th century); An altarpiece from the retable by Pietro Cavaro (Saint Francis receiving the stigmata); A silver processional cross (from the Oristano workshop of 1300, with Sienese influences); A reliquary (from an Oristano workshop from 1456); Parts of an altarpiece (dated 1602) by Bartolomeo Castagnola from Castelfranco Veneto; Other panels are exhibited in the Antiqvarivm Arborense Museum of Oristano and in the National Art Gallery of Cagliari.

(Translated by Google) The church of S. Francesco is annexed to the convent of the Minor Conventuals in the historic center of Oristano; its urban location infra moenia highlights its historical role as the fulcrum of political-cultural life town, a short distance from the cathedral of S. Maria Assunta and the headquarters of the highest authorities of Oristano. At the beginning of the nineteenth century the monumental complex was in an advanced state of decay; the church in 1835 was demolished and (the dome of the building erected between 1836 and 1838 based on a design by Antonio Cano collapsed) rebuilt between 1841 and 1847 under the direction of the architect Gaetano Cima in the canonical forms of Purist classicism. The lower left portion of the façade survives of the ancient church (northwest, m 8.63), in medium-sized trachyte and limestone ashlars; the Franciscan community of Oristano, still active, maintains part of the ancient monastic building and has undertaken an action to recover the structures currently incorporated into the Military District. In the last century it was tradition that the church belonged in origin of a monastery of the Basilian Order; The reliquary with the supposed skull of St. is kept in the Treasury. Basilio, Byzantine silver from the 4th century reworked in the 15th century in an Oristano workshop. They belonged with all probability to the liturgical endowment of S. Francesco some of the codices kept in the cathedral, in particularly the antiphonary and responsorial with Gregorian chant, attributable to the third quarter of the 13th century, with 23 illuminated initials, one of which depicts the saint from Assisi. The establishment of the Franciscan community a Oristano occurred within 1253, but it seems we can ascribe only a few to the first half of the 13th century. wall structures included in the convent building, in particular the section of the two-tone rows of facing trachyte and sandstone, where a single-lancet window opens with an ogival arch with a double conch. In the last quarter of the portal of the cloister dates back to the century, with its pointed arch and diamond-pointed eyebrows, and the other lights recently reported in sight; open in the façade of the monastery towards the cathedral, they are remarkably wide and have a semicircular rib with a large inclined display. Same location chronological order is appropriate for the surviving façade piece, of accentuated Gothic typology. The hoof has a shoe molded; along the edge of the corner pillar there is a small column with a capital with phytomorphic decoration like those of the corner pilasters. The beam columns rest on the plinth, which determined the tripartition into mirrors, of which the left one is visible externally (where traces of the statue there remain stood out) and the middle one, in which the portal opened and was then blocked. Each mirror is concluded by an arch splayed ogival with Gothic mouldings. The left arch is capped at the top by a gabled frame, that one right with an ogival eyebrow, also richly decorated with phytomorphic motifs. (Sardegna Cultura)

When exploring the charming city of Oristano, a visit to the iconic Torre Mariano II is an absolute must. This impressive medieval tower, standing at 28 meters tall and constructed in 1290, serves as a historical gateway into the city from Piazza Roma. The square itself is lively, lined with inviting bars and restaurants that lead you toward Via Umberto, the main shopping street.
From the cathedral we walked the very short distance to the thirteenth century tower of Mariano II and I did the tour while Deb stayed below and avoided the very narrow spiral staircase. The tower was one of five in the original city wall and the only one remaining and there were nice views of the town from the top level. An excellent audio guide too and not too wordy!

This is one of the last buildings from the old city fortifications - actually this was the main entrance to the city. Tickets can be bought from the museum nearby. I suggest you do the museum visit first and see a mockup of the old fortifications. We were given a guided tour by Maurizio - really nice gentleman, typical of all Sardi :-) If you visit Oristano, then you have to visit the museum and this building.

It's reasonably well kept but I've never really seen very much to do there and at the weekend it's like a ghost town. I have always felt that MORE could be done with Oristano -if only someone REALLY wanted to. Instead, the locals wake up once a year for the archaic (and possibly cruel) performing horse show of the "Sartiglia" and then swiftly return to their slumbers shortly after...

If you're in Oristano Sardinia do yourself a favor and make this your first stop!** I've eaten here five times already, and I keep finding reasons to come back. Every dish I've tried has been an absolute hit—each one cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and made with the freshest ingredients. The prices? More than reasonable for the incredible quality you get! But what truly sets this place apart isn't just the food—it's the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The owner greets me by name every time I walk through the door, making me feel like a cherished regular. It’s that personal touch that makes each visit feel like coming home. I’m from New York City, where I've dined at some of the best restaurants in the world, and this little gem rivals any of them. It's not fancy or pretentious; it's just pure, honest, and unbelievably delicious food. I honestly can't recommend it enough!

Amazing food experience! We, a family with two teenagers, had the 4 appetizers and then a main course. All in all highly appreciated. Great friendly service too

It was a beautiful day at Parco Paleontologico DINOsardo, a theme park surrounded by nature and filled with various animals, including real ones! The park was well-organized, but what made it truly special was the highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic geologist guide. This guide captivated the attention of both children and adults throughout the visit. Visitors had the opportunity to learn fascinating and intriguing facts while having an enjoyable time.
Very interesting right from the beginning of The tour where you see replicas of the beginning of life up to the dinosaurs. Our guided tour was in English. Not expensive, for 2 adults & 1 child, we paid 20€ only. Very nice staff and considerate for our child (misting water as it was very hot). Our son enjoyed a lot the fossils digging 😊 there's a bar for snacks and lunch, very nice to sit and eat under the trees.

The magnificent Romanesque church of San Pietro di Zuri, dating back to the 13th century, stands as a remarkable testament to the past. Situated where Lake Omodeo now lies, this structure remains in impeccable condition and embodies the architectural characteristics of its era. Notably, it serves as a poignant reminder of the town that once occupied this location. In an extraordinary effort by the antiquities superintendent, the church was relocated in the 1920s.

(Translated by Google) SARDINIA – ZURI, CHURCH OF SAN PETER THE MOVEMENT OF THE CHURCH OF ST. PETER OF ZURI. An example of anastylosis. The church, in the hamlet of Ghilarza and entirely made of reddish trachyte from the Bidonì quarries, was built around 1291 during the Giudicato of Mariano II of Arborea, as can be read in the epigraph still present on the facade. It is 32.17 meters long, 9.89 meters wide and with a maximum height at the top of the roof of 10.20 m. The painted beams, however, were inexplicably lost during the reconstruction of the roofs in 1894. Between 1923 and 1925, the transport of the temple to another site became mandatory due to the construction of the Santa Chiara dam on the Tirso river, in order to create the invasion of Lake Omodeo, with Carlo Aru director of the works and who then wrote a book on the topic. On 11 July 1923, the works were handed over and completed in July 1925. Even though the trachyte is fragile, there were no notable problems in demolishing the construction or during transport: in general, it was realized that the ashlars were in good condition but without numbering. But, since Seddargius, the area initially chosen for the rebuilding of the town of Zuri, was replaced with the locality of Murreddu, the transport from one site to another, perhaps rushed and with insufficient supervision, caused two damages to the materials: they were stored in bulk and, having not observed the necessary precautionary rules, part of the ashlars were chipped on the edges (The replacement of the trachytic blocks was approximately 1/3 of the total, including those that were found already damaged on site during demolition) How do you read it in the source of the information we are giving you - TRUE OR FALSE? THE ANASTYLOSIS. A CASE IN SARDINIA OF THE 1920s by Carlo Pulisci is finally: "From today's analysis of St. Peter's, the first thing that emerges when observing the walls is the mix that was made in the reassembly of the trachyte blocks. The ashlars were positioned without any logical criterion, the internal ones became external and vice versa. clear evidence of this fact are the circular incisions present at every height on the outside and inside, which can be assumed to be the signs of the halos, remains of the frescoes that covered the interior of the church, as Roberto Coroneo rightly suggested to me"... but... "certainly the decision taken then to move such an illustrious monument of Sardinian art was excellent, and still allows us today to admire this beautiful construction, enriched by its unusual history with a further element of interest." (Original) SARDEGNA – ZURI, CHIESA DI SAN PIETRO LO SPOSTAMENTO DELLA CHIESA DI SAN PIETRO DI ZURI.

Trattoria Portixedda

$$$$cheap
Italian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Oristano's historic center, Trattoria Portixedda offers a delightful dining experience that captures the essence of Sardinian charm. Surrounded by picturesque streets lined with elegant villas and quaint courtyards, this family-run eatery is a must-visit for both locals and travelers alike. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the town’s rich history.

Tuna steaks were incredible and fried sea food was very delicious, not too fat as it can be served. Tiramisu for dessert equally great and the mirto liqueur also very well balanced. All in all highly appreciated. Great friendly service too

The restaurant served up by far the best tasting mussels I have ever had - fresh and tender. The monk fish cooked in Catalan style was a perfect tangy and chill lunch dish on a hot summer afternoon.

Place was full during our visit, it’s one of the top rated TripAdvisor restaurants. Waiters: there were only two waiters for all tables. So it took a while for everything. Overall friendly. Food: decent food these prices, pasta a ragu tasted very different than normal. Did not hit my spot. Price: cheap considering the food we ate.

When you travel and you want an easy, relaxed, fast and quality meal, at the right cost, this small typical family restaurant is exactly what you are looking for. You will find many holiday makers here, but also native ones, because the courses are tasty and well prepared. In short... if you cross Sardinia then here you will not be disappointed.

The menu is a celebration of fresh local ingredients, featuring daily catches and vibrant vegetables paired with herb-infused sauces.
We have visited this delightful restaurant many times in the last 15 years and it has never disappointed. The food is always good excellent; superb quality meat and fish prepared superbly. Lovely staff; friendly and helpful. I like the different rooms and seating areas. This visit we ate lunch inside; evenings in the covered terrace area at the back have always been great too. The pizzas are fabulous and the pasta dishes to die for. 10/10! And our well behaved dog was welcome.

Visited this place recently after recommendations from the locals in Oristano. The food was incredible at this restaurant. The service was okay but little slow. However, in fairness the staff were very busy. I would recommend this place.

It was a disappointing visit. We were only given one menu card, so it took us a long time to translate. There weren't enough napkins on the table available. We waited a long time for the dishes. No olive oil was served. The staff was not interested in whether we liked the dishes.

Very Nice restaurant. it has a chic, luxury vibes compared to other restaurants in Oristano. It has a beautiful garden behind which makes atmosphere better. I ordered a piece of steak and I was giant, cost only 20€! For this piece, it was quite cheap. I had also a salad, which came with fancy balsamic bottle and olive oil. I usually don’t eat salad outside but in this place , they carefully selected the salad leaves and they were super clean and fresh! Try this restaurant with your eyes closed ;)

Ristorante I Giganti Beach

Seafood restaurant
Ristorante I Giganti Beach is a Sardinian restaurant that offers an impressive selection of beautifully prepared seafood. The starters are diverse and enjoyable to share, with the sea snails being particularly delicious. The mixed fried dish is perfectly crispy and juicy, creating a delightful combination of flavors. The friendly service adds to the overall experience, making it even more enjoyable. This place truly stands out for its amazing raw options and variety of oysters.

They didn't seat us because we weren't dressed appropriately for a restaurant, but we just wanted to eat something tasty. After 5 minutes of waiting in front of the bar, they told us there were no seats available, even though there were seats available outside, but they told us they weren't working outside, and it was about 25 degrees. I don't understand this mentality. I wouldn't recommend it.

Il Lido Ristorante di Pesce Oristano

$$$$affordable
Seafood restaurant
Il Lido Ristorante di Pesce Oristano offers an unforgettable dining experience that captivates from the moment you step inside. The ambiance is warm and elegant, creating a welcoming environment where guests feel encouraged to linger longer. A highlight of the evening is undoubtedly the exceptional service provided by Lucie, whose professionalism and passion for the menu truly enhance your visit.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An unforgettable dining experience — and Lucie made it perfect! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere was warm, elegant, and inviting — the kind of place that makes you want to linger just a little longer. But what truly set the evening apart was the incredible service we received from our server, Lucie. Lucie was a total standout — professional, warm, and genuinely passionate about both the menu and creating a memorable experience. She guided us through the selections with thoughtful recommendations, perfect timing, and a smile that never faded. It felt less like being served and more like being hosted by a friend who knows great food. Every detail was spot on: from the wine pairing suggestions to the pacing between courses, Lucie handled everything with grace and charm. It’s rare to come across someone who blends efficiency and warmth so effortlessly, but Lucie nailed it. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. But as much as we loved the dishes, it was Lucie who made the night truly unforgettable. We’ll absolutely be coming back — and next time, we’re asking for Lucie by name. She’s a gem. Ps: There are many mosquitoes in the area, but they do carry mosquito sprays on hand, so feel free to ask.

This was the BEST seafood restaurant i have eaten at anywhere, ever! And I have been around the block. The clam linguine sprinkled with the botarga was the best I've had, even more so was the lobster linguine again with the botarga. The celery salad with chunks of botarga was revelatory! Service was there every time you needed it, and the manager, Valeria, was super friendly and engaging. The decor and atmosphere are calm and attractive esp with the view of the beach. This was a0o lunch, but next time I will try the fresh fish which was on display and the raw shellfish which a table next to us had that looked like it was still alive. Grazie mille

A really beautiful restaurant. Great oysters to begin with. The tuna for me had too much going on. Sesame seeds, Asian dressing, mango, pineapple and rocket. It just took the taste of the tuna away. Calamari fritti was lovely but a huge portion. Olive oil was delicious and the tiramisu! Wow! It was one of the best!! Stunning views here and lovely place.

Vegans!, yes, they have vegan options, but i recommend buying some focaccia and olives in the nearby store and you will have better dinner than here. We ordered a burger and it's not written anywhere (and nobody told us) that it comes with potatoes, so we ordered a portion of extra french fries, which was quite handy at the end because the other meal we ordered was culugriones, and it was just six small pieces of pasta stuffed with an undefinable paste (probably potato) which didn't taste much like anything.. moreover, there is a lot of mosquitoes everywhere, including inside, so it wasn't really a pleasant visit given the fact you have to smash a mosquito above your plate from time to time..
Jani H — Google review
Everything about this restaurant is absolutely top rate. Service, helpful, charming and faultless. Menu is mostly if not all sea-food which is what we wanted. Tastes were out of this world, a taste sensation. Not cheap, but absolutely worth it. And the toilets were spotless and well provided.
Richard V — Google review
The restaurant is not bad, but I do not recommend it. They took more than 30 minutes to realize that there was a problem in the computer and our order for the appetitive wasn’t registered, even though we reminded them at least 3 times during those 30 minutes. Anyways, we cancelled the aperitivo and had the antipasti, wine and then pasta. The food took more than 30 minutes also to be ready. The food is not bad, but far from corresponding to the price.

Craf Da Banana Restaurant

Sardinian restaurant
The Craf Da Banana Restaurant in Oristano is a great spot for traditional Sardinian dishes, like non-seafood dishes. It's popular in the autumn and winter months, as the mosquitoes aren't too bad during those times. The food is good and the service can be slow at times, but it's worth it for a delicious meal.
It was a wonderful lunch experience with very professional service, excellent wine, and top-notch dishes. The food was beautifully presented and extremely tasty. We would love to come back!

We had a amazing experience here. Coziest of brick cellar restaurant. Romantic vibe delux. The food was extra ordinary. We pre booked the suckling pig. But got some appetizers and dessert. 100 out of 10.!! The best resturante so far 5 weeks in Sardinia!

Amazing place! Can highly recommend to visit! The food is absolutely excellent – every dish was a real experience. Gianluca provided truly personalized service and attention, offering the best recommendations that made our evening even more special. The venue itself is beautiful and full of character. A perfect combination of great atmosphere, outstanding food, and exceptional hospitality! P.S. Try their homemade pasta! We shared it a starter but still regret about not having a full portion for each ☺️

Craf da Banana is one of the city’s top-rated restaurants, and it lived up to the reputation when we visited. The dining room is rustic and welcoming, with exposed beams, shelves lined with wine bottles, and a refrigerator displaying impressive cuts of aged meat. Throughout the night, sizzling platters of beef were carried past tables, filling the room with an irresistible aroma. The menu highlights Sardinian ingredients with both tradition and creativity. I started with homemade linguini topped with red prawns, zucchini flowers, and shaved Sardinian truffles it was fresh, rich, and perfectly balanced. My second course was mullet fillet, cleverly plated to look like it was swimming, topped with a melted pecorino crust that added both flavor and flair. For dessert, I had seadas: a deep-fried dumpling stuffed with tangy pecorino and lemon peel, drizzled with honey. It was just sweet enough, with the cheese adding a savory edge. The service was attentive and friendly, even though the staff were busy turning away walk-ins all night. Our server took the time to explain both dishes and wines. We ended with glasses of Mirto. Craf da Banana is popular for good reason. Make a reservation, savor the food, and enjoy one of Oristano’s best dining experiences.

Wow! This place is faultless ! It is the kind of restaurant that is the go-to especially for meat lovers, but the fish is also very good. We had the mixed starters, an incredible selection of meats and vegetables , ranging from beef carpaccio to aubergine with lardo, to pecorino sardo fried in pane carasau, to a meat that was stewed for hours, similar to brisket but 20000 times better, moist, tender , so flavourful. There were fiori di zucca as well, fried in a light batter, as light as the best tempura. We also had the pasta with wild boar ragù, the fregola with fiori di zucca, and the culurgiones with a pecorino sardo cream and truffle sauce, followed by by Porceddu, and the Donkey meat with fiori di zucca sauce. All of them absolutely divine! To finish we had the seadas with 2 types of artisanal honey, and the Filindeu croccante, another delight . We ended with a digestive “banana” liqueur, a house speciality, and a limoncello as well! A perfect meal with faultless service and great , fantastic food ! I want to go back already ! Book as the place is tiny and you would curse yourself if they don’t let you in because they are full !

Probably the best restaurant in town. Service can be slow. Star dishes were their pork dish; basil cream pasta with smoked mullet and their cookies! We told them their mullet with pane curasau crust was dry and bland. We left most of the fish on the plate. They noted our comments and kindly took the dish off the bill. Really nice staff.

It's a nice place, like so many other in Oristano. The service should be better, they seem to be always upset of something. 😀 Good food, but not my taste. Oven patatoes are reheated... the fish I served had the bowels inside, maybe this is the way to be served and I am an ignorant. Search deep to find italian spirit.

During my delightful stay in Torre Grande, I had the pleasure of dining at L'Oasi Ristorante e Pizzeria multiple times, and each visit was a culinary adventure. The menu boasts an array of classic Italian dishes that truly shine, from the mouthwatering spaghetti alle vongole to the delectable salted tuna pizza. The food was pretty good, the problem was the inaccurate information. Place didn't open til 12:45 due to holiday, understandable, but not hard to update on google maps. Locanda Da Renzo, situated in Siamaggiore just outside Oristano on the west of Sardinia, offers a delightful culinary experience that combines fresh seafood with local pasta. The menu reflects the vibrant flavors of the coast and pays homage to Sardinia's cooking traditions. The location is stylish and perfect for special events. Guests can enjoy spacious and comfortable rooms within an olive tree orchard, complete with a lovely swimming pool and a top-quality floodlit tennis court.
This place is a pearl of Sardinia. The owners, the staff, the food, the rooms, the pool and everything are just great. People like Davide make a homely atmosphere. Davidem took care of us from the very beginning and helped us with everything with a smile. An amazing person and place. A world class restaurant.

We spent one week at Locanda Da Renzo. We had a nice room, well sized for a family. The rooms are developed around a large pool with sunbeds and there is also a tennis court. Breakfast was quite generous and served at the table. Dinner at the restaurant was a true experience, with delicious seafood and signature lobster dishes and good Sardinian wines. Unfortunately the restaurant opens only on weekends. Service was ensured by Davide and Ahmed. Both have been very helpful and nice during our stay. The hotel is located nearby a highway exit, so easy to reach. In 15 minutes we could reach Oristano's city center and about 25 minutes we were at the seaside. Overall a very nice experience.

One of the top fish restaurants in Sardegna. Starting from the food to the professional service. I have been told from my friend that this restaurant is there almost 50 years. As welcoming the guests we have been served with ovenly freshly warmed guttiau and a bottarga butter paté. We had a polpo, zuppa, carpaccio and gamberetti as a starter, all delicious. I still have the taste on my tongue. Then we had Spaghetti Nieddittas and Fregola. I strigliata recommend this place if you want to have a guaranteed high level fish experience. Btw if you go to the restrooms you will be served with different toiletteries, including a perfume. If you should have drunk too much and cannot drive stay over night in one of their suites.

We had a wonderful stay at Da Renzo. We stayed for 3 nights and luckily the restaurant was open on the Saturday night which was the icing on the cake. It was one of the best dinners we had in Sardinia. The lobster spaghetti I particularly loved. The pool is great and the tennis court is perfect. We had one of the double rooms and one of the larger rooms - I would definately recommend going for the larger rooms, they’re worth the small extra cost. As for the staff, Ahmed and Davide are such lovely people and it was a joy to have them look after us. Thank you for making our stay so special!

Nice Location with a rustical flair. The food is excellent and the service is one of the best in town coursed by the well spoken English.

We often have a glass of wine here before dinner elsewhere. I love the interior of this place and Italian table service is what it is. One of my favourites on this block of bars.

The service was good. The kitchen was off tonight. We all have bad days. I ordered linguine with clams. It was to salty the waiter took it back and asked if I would like spaghetti w clams as a substitute, my husband had his food I agreed. (Linguine would take to long and I didn't want my husband to wait) It still wasn't very good. We also ordered ravioli which was good very rich. I will not return. The service was very good.

Great restaurant by the hotel where we stayed at. We took the full dinner menu - all food was delicious accompanied with a great choice of wine. But the most remarkable thing is the level of service - it was exceptional - the waiter is such a professional, thank you for making our evening so pleasant!

Great food, reasonable price, great service. Best meal we had eating out in Sardinia trying a different restaurant every evening. Nom

Best restaurant we‘ve visited in Sardinia! Had a starter, „fish of the day“ for three and desert for super value. Very professional and likeable service.

Fabulous dining experience with great service (not always easy to find in Sardinia) and charming ambiance. Great spot for a romantic meal.

Mediocre food, nothing was exciting. Risotto was not well cooked and very small portion. Cold pork slices with mozzarella was pretty bad.

Kalispera

Italian restaurant
Kalispera is a delightful dining spot in Oristano that truly captures the essence of local flavors. With a menu featuring dishes crafted from fresh ingredients sourced from both land and sea, every bite promises an unforgettable experience. The ambiance is charming, complemented by friendly and attentive staff who are eager to assist you in making your selections.
Kind and young staff, they helped us to choose and we didn't regret it. Place was really comfortable and nice, really good also food. We ordered only appetizers cause we was not so hungry.

Enjoyed our evening at Kalispera. It was a lovely warm evening and we hadn't booked so felt lucky to have a table. Our starter plate of cold meats and cheeses was delcious. We went straight to main which wss nice but we got the impression we had been forgotten til the lovely waiter (French speaker) realised. My husband had tuna with parmesan but found there ti be too much cheese thus losing taste of tuna. My steak in gorgonzola sauce was devine. We have not quite sussed out ordering in Sardina yet......we now lnlw wef must order sides for each meal!

It took an hour to serve carpaccio, a cold dish . To add insult to injury every other table was served before ours. Later when we complained about the time, service ( a waitress we saw once), when the food arrived almost 1 hour and a half later it was cold and revolting. The meat tasted like leather shoes and you could taste the fish was cooked in old oil that had been reused multiple times. The gnocchi was congealed and they used cheap Oscar Mayer synthetic bacon. Then when we gave our honest opinion we were told its because we are tourist and our taste. The manager then complained in front of other customers saying touristi… by the way I lived in Oristano over 10 years ago when they would be happy to find one tourist… I know that with that horrible flavor any Oristanese would never touch it! There was little to no apology or accountability. Paid 90 euros and had to go to Craf for a second dinner to not go to bed hungry. Craf treated us amazingly, fresh hot food, fast and delicious. True Sardo dishes great atmosphere. Save your time… go elsewhere. Kalispera RIP

Nice place, we always have at least one dinner here. Very good service and food. Better make a reservation, especially in high season. Always full during dinner time.

I visited the restaurant for horse steak, i ate also carpaccio di polpo. The service was awesome, very quick and the staff are welcoming. The food, home made vino are above the average, prices are acceptable. Highly recommended, it was worth to stay oristano while I was going to cagliari from sassari, just for kalispera!

The food was good, nice personel but they only have Heineken as draft beer. Seafood: ***(*) Pizza: **** Pasta: *** Beer: * (Heineken) I would like to see ichnusa ninfiltrata or other sardinian beers from the tap. The prices are ok. We paid 60eur for three dishes one beer and water.

This restaurant is a real gem in the centre of oristano. Good selection of pizzas and other dishes including local specialities. The staff are friendly and accommodating, I went back over and over again with my friends from the UK. Special thanks to the lovely Serena for always doing her best in meeting my dietary requirements. Grazie di cuore Serena. A presto, Fabio

Ristorante La Brace

Mentioned on
1 list
$$$$affordable
Restaurant
If you're looking for a quality dining experience with polite and professional staff, then Ristorante La Brace is definitely worth checking out. Some of the courses can be a bit experimental, but they still retain their richness - 4 stars in my opinion! The only downside is that there was no paper towel left in the toilets... other than that, this restaurant isstellar.
We went out for a late dinner (9:45pm) with our two boys and we chose this restaurant because they close at 11pm instead of 10pm as for most restaurants in the area. We were positively surprised by the high quality of the food and the selection of wine. The service was also very good, accommodating our kids wish to have some simple pasta that was not on the menu.
Erica H — Google review
Brace has become an established place in Oristano. My first visit was more than 7 years ago, the other day was my last one. My comment concentrates on this last experience. We have chosen two fish based starters and two meat mains with the idea of tasting also something related to the word that names the restaurant. It took 50 minutes to get our starter plate in the table. It’s holiday, the hall is not big and it was not yet full when we arrived at 21:05. A kitchen working flow can be impacted by any unpredictable but in that case you would expect a communication from the serving stuff which did not occur. The ‘calamari and nuts’ and ‘raw prawns with venere chips’ starters were well done and interesting in the mix of tastes composing the dish. The meat plates were in fact quite dull and standard and in the composition. You would expect the ‘small pig’ juicy and succulent, giving a glimpse of the anthem plate in Sardinia cousine. It was not. Very short wine list, we wanted to get a fresh red which can accompany both plates but there was nothing below 14. With the revolution in wine offer occurred in the last 10 years we found strange such a limited offer. We ended with a standard sparking torbato by sella e mosca. All an all, not what you’d expect for a 50 euros bill. The ambience has not changed in time, it is a pretty standard bon ton restaurant like you’d seen 20 years ago.

Delicious and creatively composed meals. Excellent professional service. Kindness and warmth to us as a family with small children. Can only recommend highly to anyone in the area!

Delicious food, lovely music, friendly staff. With our bottle of wine, we even got a bottle as a gift. However be sure to reserve a table inside, as outside you will be mauled by mosquitoes.

Affordable, quality dining experience. Polite and professional staff and tasty food and wine. Some courses are bit experimental but do not lose richness. 4 star because there was no paper towel left in the toilet. Other than that stellar restaurant.

Cagliari Elmas Airport

International airport
Airport
Cagliari Elmas Airport is the main airport serving the south of Sardinia, providing access to various destinations in the region. It offers flights from a range of airlines including Delta Airlines, EasyJet, KLM, Alitalia, and more. Transportation options to reach your destination include taxis and buses operated by the regional company ARST. The airport operates year-round but sees increased activity during summer with domestic connections and flights to and from several European countries.
A nice and clean airport with a few nice shops and places to eat, there is a piano where everyone can play a piece of music or more
Yu K — Google review
Nice and small airport! There are some nice shops to eat and buy something. There is a lack of seats at the gates though. The parking fee is free for the first 20min and afterwards 1€ per hour.
Kat D — Google review
I would rate this Cagliari airport as relatively average. Hence I give overall 4 stars rating. I like the simplicity and cleanliness. But probably can be improved from the food and restaurant variation and availability. Have more seats for passengers and maybe an extension to make it bigger.
Steven K — Google review
I was intrigued what others had said about Cagliari as it was a pretty unusual, the layout the other side of security is mind boggling bad! A lot of the gates are around the shops, the lack there of, duty free is about 10m long and concurring with all other one stars, lack of water fountains or seating compared to the people was really randomly poor. Not a great layout at all and even if your gate is beyond the small area of shops and two “bars” through passport control then you are led to a land of even fewer chairs and two sad vending machines. Cagliari, do better!
Daniel R — Google review
Worst airport ever. The queue is too long and the airport staff are making very loud noise with horns, intolerable!!! Many babies are crying😫
Luna L — Google review
🏢 The airport is quite spacious. 🛃 The security check was more thorough than usual for Italian airports, but it was fine — the staff was polite. 🛋️ The lounge wasn’t great. There was no hot food, which is quite a problem. ✈️ The airport itself is big, but the gates are really poorly laid out. 🤔 You can’t easily tell if gate 5 or 6 is yours, especially when departures are scheduled close together. 😌 Otherwise, everything was okay. 🚆 A big plus is the train connection — it runs often, costs only €1.30, and goes straight to the city center.
Michael Š — Google review
Cagliari is a gorgeous place worth visiting and it offers amazing food. However, its airport could do with some refiguration. You struggle to find a spot to sit and you can't even access the few shops because of the queues for the gates. Overall, the gate area is way too small. As for the toilets, an endless queue outside the obvious female toilet and repulsive conditions in the more obscure one. Mine didn't only lack toilet paper, there was no bin either! 3 stars is way too generous a review, and it's a shame for such a wonderful and popular destination.
Margarita P — Google review
Disastrous Airport and one of the worst throughout Europe. Toilets disgustingly not clean (in 2025), no space for sitting (not even in the gate areas - max. for 30 percent of the people), no children areas, no fast track for families. Good thing: Quite okay prices for food.

Alghero Airport

International airport
Alghero Airport, also known as Alghero-Fertilia Airport, is situated in the north-western part of Sardinia and serves various areas including Santa Teresa di Gallura, Castelsardo, Sassari, Porto Torres, Stintino, Argentiera, Bosa, Oristano, Tresnuraghes and S'Archittu.
Super lttle airport. Very easy to manage. There is a Tourist Information desk just outside the arrivals hall. We were collecting a hire car from Budget and the pick up point was within walking distance from the terminal.
Jane T — Google review
Cute airport aereal gate to the historical city of Alghero and to the North West part of the mysterious island of Sardinia. Functional design based on a rectangular base correctly distributed. Moreover, it doesn't loose the opportunity to show the wonders of Sardinian history through diverse stands and pictures across the facility. The success of Alghero as a summer destination increased the amount of flights reaching the original design capacity of the facility. The waiting section after security control may be over busy when several departures are close to each other and not all the passengers may find a place to sit, an expansion may be needed in the next years. An hourly bus connects the airport with Alghero's downtown, a higher frequency may be needed on peak season.
Alex S — Google review
cute little airport… but nothing to do. after security there’s two small cafes, a vending machine, a water refill (that was broken when we arrived and a traveler had to fix it since there’s NO ONE around to ask!), about 2-3 other shops and dirty toilets. i think there’s 4 (2 male, 2 female) toilets for many people to share so the queue was long. there also isn’t enough seating for everyone so half the airport were just sitting on the floor. it’s easy to find your way around but as mentioned there’s no one around to ask like for example security or other workers (except in stores and cafes) like you’ll see in other, bigger airports. check in was somehow broken when we got there and seeing as you HAVE to check in at a desk this took a while. they also only had two desks open at first for our fully booked plane. security went surprisingly fast even though there was only maybe 3 or 4 lines open.

Small airport, which does the job. Well organized, clean with everything you need, there are sockets to charge the phone. Few places to grab food are available
Mih K — Google review
One star is way too much for this departure area. Worst I have seen and I have seen a lot. 3 planes sharing one toilet. A queue of 40 people trying to piss. What an amazing way to end a vacation
Tom P — Google review
it was okay, i suppose. really small airport with way too many people for such a tiny place, we sat on the floor while we waited for our boarding. there was nothing to do except buy food from an overpriced cafe. there’s a place to fill up your water after security for free! security felt stressful and the queue was long, staff was nice though.
Emma H — Google review
‼️Public transportation ‼️ - You can buy your bus ticket online using the DropTicket or TabNet app. - Alternatively, there is a ticket machine located right next to the taxi lane. Please note: the tobacco shop does not sell bus tickets. - The ticket machine is not located at the bus station. - The bus station is on your right as you exit the arrivals area. - Please check the website of ARST for bus schedules, they might change season to season. Buses to Alghero generally depart on the hour (e.g., 12:00, 13:00, etc.). Bus n.760 goes to Sassari.

So typically Italian. Looks great, works like... Examples range from security checks to the internet. Thirty years ago, we had the same tech. This post couldn't be submitted from the Wi-Fi connection. Q.e.d.
