St Asaph Cathedral, with a history dating back 1400 years, is known as the UK's smallest active cathedral. Despite being burnt down multiple times in history, it has been rebuilt and remodeled, including work by Victorian architect George Gilbert Scott. The cathedral houses early editions of the first Welsh Bible and Prayer Book by Bishop William Morgan. Visitors can explore its detailed history inside and feel the warmth of devotion through knitted prayer squares.
Loved it. Lots to see thanks to visitors tour info. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Afterwards we had a super lunch in the adjoining cafe.
Phil P — Google review
Beautiful little cathedral, no bigger than a small parish church. Sadly ripped apart and modernised. It has lost its soul replaced with a modern interior and plastic chairs. It had the feel of a church inspired IKEA display inside 😭
Dr H — Google review
What a beautiful cathedral and lovely gardens with views over the river. This cathedral is a modern thinking, inspiring Cathedral that welcomes anyone of any faith or no faith. Highly recommended.
Steve C — Google review
Small cathedral! Interesting history. Plenty of information available. A nice enough cafe. Good toilets. The river walk in St Asaph is lovely if you have more time.
Valerie H — Google review
I went inside as it was heaving raining and was soo cold. Right after I was welcome with few history articles and prayer square knitted by the devotees. The warmth I felt when I touched it, can't be explained in words. A beautiful and peaceful place to worship. It has lots of history dating back to 12th century and beyond. The history is well written in detail inside the church. And don't forget to grab a snacks at the cafe behind.
Akaash P — Google review
Beautiful Cathedral...lots of history Very helpful guides ..no.entrance fee only donation ..
Jill C — Google review
Had a very interesting tour. The volunteer guides are very informative. The entry is free donations can be given to the Cathedral by card, cash or bank transfer.
Colum P — Google review
A lovely serene place to visit, we called on our way home from a break in North Wales. We were made to feel very welcome by the local people inside, offered a walking tour guide and informed I could take as many photos as I like. It may not be a large Cathedral but is certainly a statement building with plenty of history. There is a tea room here and a car park, the car park is council operated so it is pay and display but is very reasonable especially if you plan on walking into St Asaph, well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Lovely cafe run by lovely Lowri.... super food, made to order and a caring friendly approach to all customers. The fact that many come back so regularly is testament to the quality of this gem of a cafe.

Nice little cafe in St Asaph. Called in for brunch whilst passing through and had a couple of poached eggs with bacon on toast. Came quickly, was reasonably priced and tasted great. The staff were nice and chatty and accommodated us well. Seemed like a number of locals favour the cafe - a good few people dropped in whilst we were there to have a drink, a cake or something to eat and everybody was on first name basis and seemed really friendly. We didn't feel out of place there as non locals though - we were made to feel welcome. They had soy milk there as an alternative to dairy and could make the food to suit preferences without any bother. Plenty of options with the drinks and they were well made. Pleasant place to stop that we will definitely pop in again.

Fantastic place, very friendly and polite staff. I was there first time and I feel really good. Highly recommended. Unfortunately I live to far, but definitely if I will back to trip to Snowdonia, I will back there again. I love decoration inside. Panini with ham and cheese and salad was really good.

Just had lunch and it didn't disappoint! The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Our sandwiches were generously filled and absolutely delicious. We managed to squeeze in a biscoff ice cream sundae, just wow! Our dog 'Ted' also enjoyed his doggy ice cream. A perfect place to relax and enjoy a bite to eat, we will definitely be back. Thank you

We've come here second week in a row, whilst looking for a dog friendly venue stumbled upon this place. Its not obvious to see this place at first but its been busy both times we visit which is a clear good sign. The food is good, the price is cheaper than what they should charge too. Lastly the service, it seems to be a Cafè pretty much run by a very young team, their manner and quality of service would suggest they have decades of experience, a credit to the place.

Called in on a Sunday morning on the way to the coast, looking forward to a coffee and a nice cake as a treat. They had no cakes at all, the coffee was mediocre and they only had full milk which I find too rich. Only as we were leaving did I see another customer having a toasted teacake. We were not offered one when we ordered and by then we were about to leave. Very disappointing.

A lovely nine hole course with driving range. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and it's a great course to play. It's not super challenging but if you want some fun for all abilities, it's perfect. I played in mid April and a couple of the greens were a bit sparse, but based on my experience from last year, they will be in perfect condition for the high season. St Kentigern Hospice

Hospice
St. Kentigern Hospice, located in St. Asaph, has a rich history dating back to the time of its founder, St. Kentigern. The hospice is known for providing exceptional end-of-life care with a compassionate and dedicated staff who go above and beyond to ensure the comfort of their patients. Visitors have praised the facility for its comfortable rooms, hotel-like amenities, and beautiful garden that provides a calming environment.
My brother passed away in May this year after a long stay in St Kentigern’s. His decline was fairly rapid and quite distressing. The care he received here was phenomenal - the staff were tireless in their devotion to their duties and their support matched his rapidly changing needs. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I can only say that they cared for him with love. This is a wonderful facility and we are lucky to have it in our community.
Howard L — Google review
I can not begin to describe the kindness the Nurses/carers & all staff members show to their patients at the hospice & their loved ones. My Grandad was cared for so well, the environment was homely, clean & welcoming. They went above and beyond, his clothes/bedding always looked & smelt so clean & nothing was to much!! My only heart ache was that my Grandad didn't take his last breaths there as he was sadly moved a week before passing away. This place is mainly funded by charity work yet they offer such high standards & so much dignity & care. As a Family we can't Thank you Enough from the bottom of our hearts we felt at ease knowing he was being looked after/cared for so well 🩵
Beccy L — Google review
This review is written whilst carrying a heavy heart. My father, a humble, kind and lovely man, spent the final six weeks of his life at St. Kentigern hospice, St. Asaph. The care he received was 1st class and far exceeded that which my mother received in a hospital during her final days. As my father's condition deteriorated, the staff would do all they could to alleviate any pain and to make him as comfortable as possible. Even at the end, his passing was peaceful. The hospice is in a quiet location and my father's room looked out across the garden towards the Clwydian Hills. As one would expect, the rooms are like en-suite guest rooms and have a TV with a DVD/CD player built in. The food (prepared and cooked by volunteers, I do believe) was good. Quite often I would purchase my evening food here whilst visiting my father. From the bottom of my heart I can't thank enough the staff of St. Kentigern for all that they did for my father during his final weeks. I know that he also appreciated their efforts very much. I will miss him always. Chris

My husband has dementia and recently stayed for a week's respite care. The care he received was second to none, absolutely tailor made to his needs. This meant I was able to have a very restful week to recharge my batteries. St Kentigern's is the only hospice in Wales to employ an Admiral nurse....a nurse specialist in dementia care. My heartfelt thanks to each and everyone involved in John's care

Fantastic find for food! Stumbled across this little gem on a Sunday evening. Spoke to a member of staff on the phone and they were so helpful and accommodating. Food was great, (roast beef excellent), and served in good time by friendly staff. Highly reccomend.

Have lived in the local area for 8 years now and this hidden gem is somewhere I have only recently visited. WHY have I not visited sooner??! What a fabulous place. Lovely beer garden and restaurant. Food is incredible! Beef burger was sooo good, chorizo pasta is top tier and the onion rings are the size of my head! Cannot fault the food whatsoever and the portions are generous! The staff are all so friendly and attentive too :-) Highly recommend anyone and everyone to visit here!

Quick stop at the bar during a recent family visit to one of our favourite short walks in Wales. Nice beer garden right next to Dyserth falls. Welcoming atmosphere, well worth a visit.
