Bagno Vignoni in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Bagno Vignoni, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Bagno Vignoni is a tiny Tuscan village famous for its central square being a large thermal pool, fed by hot springs used since Roman times. Set on a hill in the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, it offers classic views of rolling vineyards, cypress-lined roads and medieval hill towns nearby. Visitors come to soak in spa facilities, stroll stone lanes and use the village as a quiet base for exploring nearby gems like Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano.
With favorites like Piazza del Moretto, Piazza delle Sorgenti, and Il Barrino, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Osteria Della Madonna and Osteria del Leone so you can get the best taste of Bagno Vignoni while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Parco dei Mulini is a unique attraction featuring free outdoor thermal pools nestled among the ruins of former mill buildings. Visitors can explore historic Renaissance buildings such as Palazzo dei Priori and the Church of San Giovanni Battista, while also enjoying a leisurely stroll along walking paths leading to the Chapel of Saint Catherine. The park offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of how the mills operated, with informative signboards providing insight into its complex workings.
We had the most wonderful experience at Parco dei Mulini, tucked away in the charming village of Bagno di Vignoni. Traveling by camper van, we found a peaceful spot surrounded by nature, making it the perfect base to explore this magical area. If you're looking for an authentic, off-the-beaten-path thermal bath experience in Tuscany, this is the place to be. Quiet, beautiful, and refreshing—highly recommended!
Charizsa T — Google review
I would recommend driving down the gravel road to park. You stand directly at the lower bathing area, have your car in view and it's free. If necessary, you also have the possibility to turn around there (there were also campers there, so there should be enough space)
Mona C — Google review
Can be skipped. Might worth a visit only if it's on your way somewhere else. The views from the top of the mill are very nice and it's an interesting structure.
Ilan C — Google review
Stunning! Must go! A little hiking is involved to get to the hot spring but once you so it’s so worth it!!
Diana M — Google review
Beautiful gardens with a lovely view of Florence. A cafe and restrooms at the high point. Worth a visit.
Dimitrios S — Google review
Good for a quick walk and bathing on warm days.
Tobias B — Google review
Good fun and nice pools. They were NOT hot, rather more like a tepid bath.
Guy S — Google review
Interesting place with a neat story, but if the only reason you’re coming here is to see this, it’s not that big of a deal. Also don’t bother walking down the pathway, you can drive a road down to the lower section for better photos.

(Translated by Google) My partner and I had a simply fantastic experience at Bagno Vignoni! Our stay was made even more memorable thanks to the much-appreciated suite upgrade. The attention to detail is exceptional, evident in every detail: from the elegant floor tiles to the refined furniture to the splendid bathtub. Not to mention the cuisine; every dish is sophisticated and refined, made with quality ingredients; the tagliolini with truffles was delicious. Breakfast also exceeded all expectations, with genuine, natural products of the highest quality. The meticulous attention to detail, obviously, both the spa and the two thermal water pools, which offer complete relaxation, deserve special mention. We would highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a stay marked by luxury, well-being, and refinement.

The clean and welcoming studio apartments provide a homely atmosphere with well-equipped kitchens.
We stayed in the red apartment and we had an excellent stay, wished we could stay longer. Massimiliano and his wife are very kind hosts. You would need a car to visit all major Gladiator sites and Tuscany's landmarks, but the location is close to most of them. Don't miss the Bagno Vignoni very close by. Take it easy, slow travel and enjoy the Tuscany's vibe, enjoy the pool, the back garden and the beautiful sunsets.

Could not ask for a better location! Very close to multiple thermal baths, iconic Tuscany views, lovely towns like Pienza, and the lovely Bosco della Ragnaia. Spacious, clean rooms and a gorgeous setting. (And free laundry!). Hosts were incredibly kind as well. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This little gem in the middle of the wonderful Tuscan hills was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. The apartment is beautiful: freshly renovated, but still with the rustic soul of the old country house it is. We had the four-people apartment, that comes with a fully-equipped kitchen with a stunning old fireplace in the middle. The beds were comfortable and the view from the bedroom's window is great. The place comes with an outdoor pool and is 10 minutes away (walking) from a natural thermal pool. It is also just 15 Kms away from the more famous "terme di San Filippo" thermal area. The owners were super nice, friendly and helpful. We booked last-minute and then extended our stay one night longer, but neither was a problem. They also pointed us to local restaurants (not the usual tourist traps) where we had great meals at very reasonable prices. Absolutely recommended!

Just amazing! Couldnt book better place for our stay in Toscany. We booked studio , which was clean, smell Ing like fresh linen which made us feel straight away like at home! What a perfect stay! We stayed here for two wonderful nights and it felt like home! Tiziana warmly welcomed us and introduced nearby delicious restaurants, hot springs, and wineries where we could taste wine. The accommodation is very large, with three rooms, two bathrooms, and an exquisite kitchen and living room, complete kitchenware and tableware, and a capsule coffee machine. Tiziana also thoughtfully prepared snacks, cakes, and milk! We loved her swimming pool the most. After walking around the town in the hot and sunny weather, we jumped into the swimming pool and drank an iced drink. It was so comfortable! 😍😍 ~~~~~ Even though Tiziana didn't speak the same language as us, but we communicated smoothly through gestures and Google Translate😂😂😂

Restaurant
Osteria Della Madonna offers an excellent quality-to-price ratio, with fantastic dishes and generous portions that are well-seasoned. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The service is top-notch, and the restaurant provides a pleasant dining experience. The dinner menu offers a variety of meal options, allowing customers to choose their preferred pasta style separately from the sauce. The boar sauce stands out as particularly delicious, complementing the homemade pici pasta perfectly.
What a great delight in Bagno Vignoni. For such a small place we were not expecting much of the restaurant there, but when we had lunch at Osteria Della Madonna we were amazed by how delicious this restaurant is. The only weird thing we thought about it is , how come there is not a huge line outside? We order 2 different pastas which unfortunately I do not remember the exact name, but one was something like Ragu Madonna and out of the two pastas you have to try this one for sure. Not the the other was bad, but this ragu was the clear winner. And those lamb chops were prepared so simple, but yet so flavorful a clear example of how sometimes less is more.

We had the most disappointing dish during our 2 week stay in Italy. The Courgette Flowers dish should not be on the menu, specially for €16! The dish had half a courgette, with a bland sauce that wasn’t explained what it was and then this greasy deep fried doughy mess. In the greasy deep fried doughy mess there was cheese, we think maybe anchovies and then what looked like 1 small courgette flower…though taste was disguised by the grease. First time in Italy we felt scammed. The carbonara and pici were ok, but were hard to enjoy after the awful taste from the greasy and disappointing dish before. The carbonara had chewy guanciale. Please take it off the menu, or just serve courgette flowers like it says on the menu. They also had a broken toilet seat in the men’s toilet.

I had a mixed experience in this restaurant. While the tartar was tasty the pastas were common nothing special . The Tiramisu is too creamy and huge 🙃 1/3 of the cream was enough for it. The Service is excellent !

The best meal I have ever had? I can’t think of anything better! We had the 5 course tasting menu which also then included a desert. Everything was exceptional. I have eaten in many Michelin starred restaurants and they do not come anywhere close to Osteria del Leone. If you are visiting Tuscany, are looking for amazing food, service and ambience then in my opinion you won’t find anywhere better. We have booked to go back in a couple of days and I can’t wait! Amazing 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Fast service, but never make us feel rushed. An experience that I recommend without hesitation

Best meal we had in Tuscany!! We visited different small towns in Tuscany, Leone was the best. We first came here for dinner and we loved it. We had truffle pasta and slow cooked pork which were just both amazing. Couldn’t skip dessert which was chocolate fondente with gelato. Then, we came again for lunch and tried 2 different pastas: fig with prosciutto and pici with clams. Fig with prosciutto was such an interesting and lovely combination, and I’m really glad I ordered it. They go together super well. Pici with clams was also tasty. We finished with tiramisu and it was perfect. Can’t wait to go back! I’m drooling while writing this review.

We loved this restaurant! We picked this place for their gluten free options since two in our party are Celiac and it was a great decision for all of us. The food, atmosphere and service were perfection. One person in our group was a little tired of Italian food and chose a hamburger. He said it was one of the best we ever ate. Well we tried to have a sit , we saw there a plenty free tables even inside , the time was 20:45 they are closing at 21:30 , they refused us treat us like no one , you should have reservation like you are going to Hilton hotel , but it’s small little restaurant , the personnel are awful they just don’t want to listen to you , they are very lazy ! I would not recommend this restaurant, we tried next restaurant like 100 m away they also has fully booked but they said nicely to wait and we waited we got a place like normal restaurant in the world! And please owner don’t talk nonsense, we have proof so don’t explain how you are right ! 1 for service, 1 for food because we didn’t try it , atmosphere again because of the personal, even they don’t smile like typical happy Italian

The food here is excellent and beautifully presented. The service also. The dining room could have been a little warmer, but the wine warmed us up. I definitely reccommend this place.

This was one of the highlights of our trip, the food was unbelievably good. I would highly encourage to make a reservation!! It’s a small restaurant in Bagno Vignoni that filled up quickly in their outdoor terrace. They had to turn several people away, so I would highly recommend a reservation. We split the cold cuts amd cheese for an appetizer, which came with the a selection of 5 meats and 2 cheeses. For our main course, my mom got the homemade pici pasta with the aglioni sauce and burrata cream while I got the homemade Tagliatelle Cacio e Pepe with truffle. Both of these pastas were clearly homemade and so delicious, but both sauces were to die for. Meaning I used excess bread to soak up every last bit of sauce it was that good. We were too full for dessert, but peeking at other tables it looked delicious. There is absolutely no debate in my mind that this is an absolute must go to if you are in the area. It changed my life and I know it will change yours too!

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like La Bottega di Ines. Not quite as popular as Piazza delle Sorgenti, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 2 hours.

Restaurant
La Bottega di Ines is a delightful establishment offering picturesque scenery and a wide-ranging selection of delectable dishes. The amiable personnel and delectable cuisine make it an exceptional choice. Moreover, it stands out as the sole eatery in town that provides genuine, satisfying meals during the mid-afternoon hours. This trendy venue boasts an innovative menu that sets it apart from others.
By far the best pasta I had, not only in Italy 🇮🇹 but in the world ! Local garlic is just right and does not overwhelm the dish, Staff was very nice to us, and helped with our lack of Italian language skills ✌️ Highly recommended Enjoy few of the many pictures taken

We’ve been coming to La Bottega di Ines for many years - back when I didn’t even have a beard. It’s a cosy family-run place, with a warm atmosphere and the sense of care you can feel in every detail. It’s especially touching to see the grandmother still there, a part of the soul of this bistro. The owners have not only preserve the quality and flavour over time they continue to go and approve. The greatest price is the consistency over the years and La Bottega di Ines has truly earned it. This is a place you always want to return to. Thank you for your dedication and your wonderful food.

Excellent service from this family-run restaurant. I forgot my bag here after having lunch, so they kept it safe. Because of that, we decided to come back for dinner.
Patrick V — Google review
This was our second great restaurant find in as many nights in San Quirico D’Orcia. We started with two wonderful cocktails: one Negroni Sbagliato; and, one Nobel. Both were delicious, and typically generous in their portions! We followed those with one of the best bruschetta combos that we’ve had in our seven weeks in Italy. Four slices of excellent toasted bread were graced with four different but equally delicious toppings: classic tomato (with oh-so-sweet tomatoes!); extra virgin olive oil and thinly sliced raw garlic (a revelation); saffron cream of pecorino (OMG!); and, crema di lardo (silky, rich flavour orgasm). For our mains we enjoyed a Chianina beef with black pepper with a side of cannellini beans, and meatballs with lentils (also with a side of cannellini). We also enjoyed two glasses of delicious house wine as well (going beyond that after the generous cocktails would have been ill-advised!). Everything was fabulous, including the service and the price. At 56€ this was something of a steal of a deal.

A great atmospheric, family restaurant. We had pappa al pommodoro which was absolutely delightful. Must visit when you are in town!

I'm sorry I have to give the 1 star review, but there are things that can't be tolerated. While we liked the food (despite portions being very small), the service and the ambiance, when invoiced we were charged 4 times the service fee of 2.5 euros. So we were charged 10 euros as a service fee in a bill totaling 57 euros. We did not get any explanation about it, we just left. In other restaurants in Italy we got charged only 1 times the service fee despite being 4 of us eating. I felt robbed, and since integrity is a very important aspect of hospitality, I don't recommend the place !!!!
Ela Z — Google review
We stopped here on our way back from the day in Siena on the recommendation from our host. The food and service was wonderful.
Gary G — Google review
Very disappointing experience. We checked the reviews before coming and thought it would be a safe choice. Instead, the appetizers were of such low quality that we were honestly shocked. We left immediately afterwards as there was no point in staying for the rest of the meal. The staff were overworked and service was very slow. Easily the worst restaurant we visited during three weeks in Italy.

Pizza restaurant
The dining experience at Osteria C'era una volta was delightful, with a delectable selection of pizza and beer. The pizza was truly outstanding, topped with mushrooms, mozzarella, and ham. The crust had a perfect balance of browning and chewiness. While traditionally eaten with utensils, some patrons couldn't resist picking it up by hand. The beer served, Messina, had a wonderful flavor that complemented the pizza well.
Osteria Cena Una Volta is a gem worth visiting! The staff were incredibly friendly, the service flawless, and the generous portions left us satisfied. We loved the complimentary tastings of appetizers and desserts—a delightful surprise! With its cozy ambience and top-notch dining experience, this spot is a must-try. Highly recommended!

Quite the lovely and surprisingly delicious experience at this particular restaurant. The food is quite limited and rustic, however that does not deter from the delicious packed flavours of every dish. Highly recommend the truffle pasta ravioli, and to have a unfiltered beer. Lovely staff and well priced.

4/5 – A wonderful find! I had the best pizza and the best parmigiana of my entire holiday here. The staff are charming and incredibly attentive, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. A little gem not to be missed if you're in the area.
Manon L — Google review
Had pizza and birra. What’s not to like? The pizza was excellent. Had mushrooms, mozzarella and ham. The crust was nicely browned and chewy. You are apparently supposed to eat pizza with a knife and fork but when no one was looking, I picked it up with my hands and ate it! The beer was Messina which has great flavor - nice complement with the pizza. Staff was very nice - very attentive. Food came quickly and was hot. The beer was cold. We split the pizza and they served it on two plates. Highly recommended.

Didn't read other reviews before coming. We chose it as we hoped to enjoy more Italian pizza. This was the worst we had so far in Italy, and yet expensive for what it was. Charged a €3 service charge, but didn't get any bread, the two male waiters weren't friendly and seemed more interested in getting others in than in serving us. Food took an age to come and when it did I agree with other comments questioning the quality of the dough (wondered if it was a frozen base). I would suggest you spend your money elsewhere.
Scott D — Google review
Despite the negative reviews we decided to go for dinner at Osteria C‘era una Volta. Unfortunetely the food really isnt good. The pizza was very disappointing. Also very pricey though.
Mel — Google review
At the time of writing the average rating of this Osteria is 3.4. I think it is correct. The food was ok, but the prices are too high. The pizza was ok, but not very Italian, I wouldnt go back as there are plenty of other restaurants available in the town. Overall its just not good enough value for the cost.

Amazing Pizza, excellent service and comfortable atmosphere!! We have been traveling all over Italy and this is our best pizza by far!! Dessert was amazing too! You must visit!

After contemplating the negative feedback, I decided to give Osteria Porcellum a chance due to its appealing menu. Although the food and service were satisfactory, they didn't exceed expectations. However, I concur with the reviews mentioning that the portions are small and overpriced. The pancanella salad as an appetizer was disappointingly minuscule, leaving us dissatisfied. In contrast, the neighboring table's side salad was much larger and cheaper.
We stopped for dinner on a quiet Wednesday night and had one of the top meals of our time in Tuscany. Very sweet staff, better english than my Italian, and absolutely wonderful food. Was the cherry on top of our visit to the very charming Bagno Vignoni, would most definitely come back! Thanks!

night for an unusual price for me, but we didn't get anything unusual. by the way, I was wrong when I said "not bad", the food in the osteria was tasteless. the shower was really good. sound isolation 0/10. furniture “moves” when you walk around the room. room and bathroom very clean. Wifi slow but OK. I write 4/5 just for location, otherwise, the service does not correspond to the quality and price ratio.
Andrius Š — Google review
Cute settings when you sit outside . Beautiful settings. 5 star I would give 3.5 star for food quality , they are tasty and home cooked. Good Pici Al Ragu Di Cianina. Not so impressed by dessert. 4 star for warm and friendly service.
Edward K — Google review
Nice enough food, if overpriced, but that's to be expected given it's a prime tourism spot. Nice setting, food arrived quickly, poor service, like they couldn't care less...I guess that too is to be expected on a busy weekend.
Kerstin P — Google review
We stopped by for dinner but we didn’t have a good experience at all. The balsamic vinegar was filled with small flies (inside the bottle) and we also had two hairs in the food. We took the roasted chicken and it wasn’t well cooked, we didn’t eat half of it. We were also charged in full for everything regardless of the poor experience.
Almog R — Google review
We debated whether we should sit here because of the negative reviews, but we decided to try because we liked the menu. The food and the service were good, not amazing, but definitely up to standard. However, I agree with the reviews that the portions are too small and overpriced. We had the pancanella salad as a starter and it was tiny! We were super disappointed. The side salad (which we saw in the table next to us) was 4 times the size of the pancanella and half the price. The other dish that disappointed us was the pici caccio e pepe with shrimps. It had 2 pieces of shrimp! That's it! The pasta itself was good, and so was the salad, but it was clear that they're trying to give costumers the least possible.
