The Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward offers a unique opportunity to explore the marine life of Alaska. Situated on the shores of Resurrection Bay, it is the state's only permanent facility for marine mammal rehabilitation and promotes stewardship of natural resources. Visitors can get up close with local inhabitants such as sea lions, puffins, and other rare animals, fish, and birds.
Wonderful time at this place. The staff is kind and loves to educate the public. You get to see all the animals up close and there are regular demonstrations so you can see feedings and learn more about behaviors. Animals that can be rehabilitated are released back into the wild, and those that cannot are given a great habitat to live in. The animals seemed genuinely happy to be there.
Jonathan K — Google review
I've been to the Alaska SeaLife Center multiple times over the years and each time it never fails to impress. There is much to explore and learn here. Exhibits teach about impact of environmental changes on Ressurection Bay's wildlife, the life cycle of sea bird species, and how research is conducted to better understand this region Sea anemone, starfish, Puffins and Sellar Sea Lions (among dozens of other species) live in this sanctuary; it is incredible to watch and interact with them, to gain a new appreciation for Alaska and its beautiful denizens. The center also has a veterinarian/wildlife response team that cares for injured animals and tells their story. For a small town like Seward, the SeaLife Center punches well above its weight and is well worth a visit
Tyler N — Google review
You can see almost all kinds of Alaskan sea wildlife there, in something close to their natural habitat. Check out the pictures to see what you can find there. This place is perfect for anyone who wasn’t lucky enough to spot some of these animals in the wild. I especially loved seeing the puffins — they are such lovely birds.
Wojciech T — Google review
This was a fun way to spend about 90 minutes of our day! We went in the afternoon around 4pm when it was much less busy than earlier in the day. What was great about going at this time is that at 5pm we got to see the puffins being fed! This was awesome especially because this was one of the animals we were most excited to see. We were told the lower underwater viewing of the feeding was the place to be. It didn't disappoint because we got to see lots of puffin action when they would dive for their food. Overall, a great way to spend some time in Seward. Very well put together SeaLife Center!
Bailey J — Google review
This is a small sea life center but it is full of great information on the sea life in the area. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the sea life that was available. You start upstairs and work your way downstairs. There is a small coffee/snack area and a nice gift shop. We spent probably 2 hours inside. They have parking available for RVs, vehicles and handicap.
Donna S — Google review
The SeaLife Center was so much fun. I hadn't been in years and even going without kids, I spent two hours there. So much cool sea creatures to see. From seabirds to fish to octopus to big sea lions, I was thoroughly entertained. The docent near the seals was very knowledgeable and full of great information. There was even a touch tank to gentle brush upon sea urchins and starfish. It's definitely worth a trip here when you're in Seward.
Lisa N — Google review
Wow I was impressed with this SeaLife Center! On the smaller size but you can easily spend 1-2 hours here given all of the k informational signs, animals to view and the interactive touch tanks. Our family really enjoyed the touch tanks and learning not only about the animals but Seward.
Lexie M — Google review
Absolutely spectacular!!! It was a bit crowded when we visited, but the tickets were timed so I imagine that helps with the crowd. We saw so many incredible creatures and learned a lot. We found the staff friendly and knowledgeable. They loved sharing facts about the animals in their care.

Seafood restaurant
The Cookery is a modern New American eatery and oyster bar located in the heart of Seward. It's known for its refined seafood plates, craft beer, and wine selection. The restaurant offers Alaskan fine-casual dining with a menu featuring locally sourced meats, produce from the Kenai Peninsula, and foraged ingredients for a unique local flavor.
Fantastic Dining Experience at The Cookery Probably the best and most elegant food we’ve had so far between Anchorage and Seward. The flavors were delicate and well-balanced — no greasy, overcooked dishes here. The carrot soup was rich and delicious, and the halibut was perfectly cooked. Great atmosphere and genuinely friendly service made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend.
Nicholas P — Google review
Well worth the price and wait time. About $40 per person and 30 minute wait time. Their dishes are packed with seafood. Every single menu we ordered had so much seafood that it was so flavorful and protein rich. The salmon dip is a must-try, where the salmon dip and the cucumber combination is extraordinary.
Moonyoung L — Google review
This place is the top restaurant in Alaska! The menu is so balanced, tasty and not heavy for your stomach. You can see that the chef spend time to build the menu, spend time on every dish presentation. It has interesting positions, and my top is fish (both types), oysters and the deserts. This is the first place, where I got back twice during the trip. I think they are always fully occupied and there is no option to reserve a table in advance. I would highly recommend to come 10-15 minutes before they are opening and you will have a high chance to get a table without a wait
Rufina E — Google review
We spent four nights in Seward and, by far, The Cookery was the best restaurant we visited. If you’re looking for the freshest seafood Steward has to offer, cooked perfectly, then this place is a must. We started with the shrimp cocktail and the seafood chowder. For our main course, we opted for the fish of the day, which was salmon, of course. To cleanse our palates, we ended the meal with a shared dessert of Chocolate Coconut Sorbet.
Tom B — Google review
Best restaurant in Seward by far. Enjoyed every dish we had. Went back for two nights! High quality ingredients, good preparation, unique and interesting recipes. Our server, Brandon, was friendly, efficient and attentive -couldn’t ask for better service. Nice contemporary space with a classy, relaxed vibe. A much-needed reprieve from the old-timey diner/grungy woodsy vibe at other restaurants in town. Prices are in line with other sit-down restaurants in town, but with much better food and ambience. Note that they don’t do online/advance reservations. That has its downsides, but it does allow for a much wider range of people to try their cooking. So factor in wait times if you don’t arrive by 5/5:30 PM. Their system for walk-up reservations was very efficient; you could track how many parties were ahead of you. Highly, highly recommend!
Tina D — Google review
This was our favorite meal during our Alaska trip. The oysters were very fresh and naturally sweet, and the seafood dishes were all well-prepared. They have a fresh catch menu. The halibut we had was also nicely cooked and paired with sauces/other ingredients that were more thoughtful than other places. Overall, a very good dining experience and much better than some of the popular spots we tried in Anchorage like Glacier Brewhouse and Kincaid Grill.
Cold L — Google review
Had a lovely dinner here with good service. A bit overpriced for its quality, which is expected of Seward. The oysters and spot shrimps were super fresh and delicious. The cream cheese ice cream was good as well. The (free) amuse bouche was very underwhelming. Not a fan of the shrimp n grits—shrimps and sauce were great, but the combination of grits and nuts did not work for me. Also tried the strawberry nojito, which will be a skip for me. If I go again, I’d order exclusively from the appetizers/seafood list and the fresh sheet Note that this place is extremely popular and does not take reservations. Tried to go right when they open and leave your name on the waitlist

We just finished our dinner at The Cookery, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Good food, excellent service and an overall great vibe! Our server was very warm and patient, while being very prompt with our food. Dishes were well put together and paired well with our drinks. We definitely recommend this place, as a great way to end a beautiful day in Seward, and further adding to your memories.

Seward Brewing Company is a popular brewpub in Seward, Alaska, offering a diverse menu of local brews and delicious bites in a modern yet rustic setting. The restaurant is known for its generous portions and high-quality food, making it a great choice for visitors looking to enjoy a satisfying meal. The highlight of the establishment is its creative and unique craft beer selection that surprises patrons with its originality.
What a great spot! Our server Carol was fantastic, the beers were excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Loaded Homies to share (SOOOO GOOD) as well as the Cheesus pizza (with an epic amount of pepperoni added). I really enjoyed both IPAs I had, though the Teeny IPA was my fave, hands down. Definitely check them out if you're in Seward!
Melissa W — Google review
Came here for beer and dinner. I really enjoyed the Milk Stout and my husband was delighted with his White Fang Hefe. We decided to split the Tuscan Raider pizza. He loved it and I enjoyed the pizza, but found it hard to enjoy it with the burnt marks, but not really burnt marks? It was like black smoke dust on it. I would rip off the pieces and give it to my husband because it would just ruin the taste for me. The waitress was awesome, though. Amazing memory, checked on us, and was on top of it!

I came here yesterday for dinner with my husband and in laws. It was nice that we could get a table right away without a reservation. There weren’t many food items on the menu. My father-in-law got a glass of beer that smelled like fruit punch; I don’t remember what it was called lol but he loved it (he even bought the store souvenir glasses). We got pretzels and cheese fries as starters. The cheese fries were on the special menu. You have to scan the qr code on the menu to see it. They were good—not outstanding but good. I went with the Bao Down as an entree. The buns were soft. The fish was nice, not fishy at all. The others got pizzas. I didn’t try theirs but they seemed to enjoy it.

So walked in without reservations, with a large group. They very professionally got us a table and the service was top notch. Food is very good, beer is very good. It is worth a meal or two if you are in Seward.
Brian S — Google review
I’m a little indifferent about this place. When I go out to eat, I generally expect to be impressed or just feel at least somewhat satisfied. We came to this place looking for the fish tacos that everyone had been posting about in the reviews, but arrived to see that they had changed the menu to be more of an Asian fusion and then there was also ‘gourmet’ wood fired pizza. I ordered the mango cider, and this was the only thing that impressed me from what we ordered on the menu. For an appetizer we had the loaded homies, and the Gorgonzola really ruined the flavor. It’s all we could taste. For an entree we shared the dad’s micro dosing pizza which, reading the ingredients, sounded amazing. But tasting it, it was just so plain. It’s missing the ‘wow’ factor that I really thought that these ingredients could deliver. Our server was very kind and attentive, so I greatly appreciate her for that. The food was just really lacking for us and made us disappointed to have spent our money here as the first dining experience for us in Alaska.
Bethany W — Google review
NOTE: They are currently closed for the season. They will be reopening in May 2023. Seward Brewing Company has to be probably my second favorite restaurant in town. We got food from quite a few places in Seward when we were in town back in June 2022, but SBC is probably my second favorite out of all the ones we tried. The overall vibe of the restaurant is gorgeous and modern. 2 floors of seating so they can accommodate a lot of people. The service was super friendly! Our waitress was very attentive to us, gave great menu suggestions since we were new people to town, and had a great attitude! As for the food, I got the Regular Rudy pizza and it was amazing! The crust is crispy and the toppings are crazy hot and fresh! Overall, if you ever make it out to Seward in the summer time, hit up this place! Great food, service, and beer lists! I’ll definitely come back here the next time I make it out to Alaska.
The F — Google review
Seated our group of 8 quickly. Good beer selection on tap. Food was good, not great, but still a good option when seeking an alternative to high-end seafood while in Seward. My pizza came out well, but saw a few with a little more char on the crust than I care for.

The coffee shop Resurrect Art Coffee House is located in a refurbished church. There are tons of local art pieces for sale and the food was great.
Cozy coffee cafe with many coffee options along with breakfast/snack items. I had the brioche with eggs and bacon as well as chocolate chip sea salt cookies and both were great. Coffee was so good I visited both times while here on vacation and liked the local art displayed.
Lexie M — Google review
Absolutely adore this coffee shop that was recommended to us on our trip to Seward. This place has such a cool vibe. Super welcoming to all. Low key. Fantastic coffee and fresh pastries. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Alaska and would love to rent the parsonage on the property.
Lori W — Google review
Neatest coffee house I’ve ever been to. Everything is made fresh and priced reasonably well. Local artists have pieces for sale that you can browse through. People that work there are very personable and friendly. Can tell they take pride in their small town. Definitely will be going back. Cozy atmosphere.
Aaron K — Google review
Sadly we weren't able to experience the coffee of this rad place, but I still wanted to take the time to recommend because they still deserve it. The line from the start was OUT THE DOOR on a Saturday morning in Seward, but my fiancé and I were able to tuck away in the upstairs loft area and take in the space. It is so unique! I might not have had a cup of coffee in my hand, but I know it would have been exceptional matching the environment. One other thing I noticed is that there is a separate line for the locals of Seward, and the coffeehouses appreciation to their business throughout the cold winters. Such a great concept. If you're in Seward, make a stop here, and drink a cappuccino in my honor :)
Dana S — Google review
The coolest atmosphere! It's an old church converted into a coffee shop. There is lots of lovely art from local artists- and available for purchase! There is also an upstairs where you can sit on couches and chairs- it has a "Friends" coffee shop feel. Definitely worth a stop in!
Bailey J — Google review
Such a cute and cozy coffee shop! We looked around at the art for quite a while, enjoyed coffee, and yummy baked goods. Highly recommend the jalapeño bagel bombs!
Kayla S — Google review
Alaska has such wonderful coffee spots and this is truly a gem! Should be a must visit on a visit to Seward. I tried their Dubai chocolate special latte and it was so good. The vibe of this place is great and if you get a seat in the loft with that big window then nothing like it!
Aishwarya N — Google review
This was a great place - got my latte here which was good but we loved the vibe of this place. Lots of places to sit but we took a take out. I believe they repueposed an old church into this lovely place with great artwork all across the place. They had a community pay it forward board where you can pay for specific co.munity and support it.

Definitely 10 out of 5 Stars! The entire adventure was amazing. Great views beautiful weather. MOST OF ALL our tour guide Abby L was beyond amazing, she was super friendly, very inviting and her knowledge about every different part of the trip was great! You can definitely tell that she cares about the experience she provides from beginning to the end! Absolutely loved her and would recommend her as your tour guide! Thank you so much Abby L for such an amazing day you are the best!!

Amazing experience! The trip includes a boat ride to and from the glacier, and kayaking there is something everyone capable should try. It was my first time kayaking in the sea, so it took strength, technique, and effort, but our guide Tony was fantastic, he gave us great tips along the way and even shared scones and homemade granola bars. A truly unique adventure.
Akanksha C — Google review
We had an amazing time! Our guide Anna was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. So fun to kayak next to seals and sea lions and also to explore the little inter tidal creatures. Everywhere you looked was incredible scenery. Loved hanging out at the Fox Island spit! 10/10 would recommend!
Anna G — Google review
We had an incredible time: the boat taxi out we saw tons of wildlife, our camp sites were spectacular, the kayaking was great, and we were able to go on a few short exploration hikes. Our guide, Cole, was very helpful and knowledgeable about animals and places. The logistics of the trip were well thought-out and ran smoothly. We had a good mix of kayaking and short hikes/short explorations. We saw lots of birds, some sea mammals, and many cool plants and fungi. We could have happily stayed many more days! A few guides, who had not come on our trip but were in the boat taxi with us, saw us after the trip and went out of their way to come check-in with us as we waited for a shuttle after returning to Seward.
Emily T — Google review
My husband and I went out on the all day boat and kayak tour last week from Seward into the fjords and kayaking up to the glacier. We loved our guide Cooper and everything about this company. We liked the warm and waterproof gear they give you. We liked how they divided us into 3, 6 person groups plus one guide. The boat operators (which I believe are an independent company) were great at spotting and stopping for wildlife pictures. We saw Oracas and Sea Lions and enjoyed the fjords. Once in the bay where the kayaks were the guides efficiently got us underway and push you in the water so your feet stay dry! While sitting in our kayaks with a view of the glacier, we had a delicious sandwich from a local bakery that was also catered to my husband’s allergies. When the tour concluded, they allowed us to choose which local charity the donation from our ticket revenue would go to. Overall, a really outstanding and upstanding local business we highly recommend.
C M — Google review
Tony was the best guide ever and knew about every tree, every bird, and so much history! What a great way to spend the day…can’t speak highly enough about Kayak Adventures!!! They clearly want you to have an amazing experience. Thank you. We did the full day…kayaked, hiked, had delicious homemade granola bars and sandwiches…the mint water was perfect….and then kayaked again. The highlight of our trip to Alaska!
Lucy M — Google review
Amazing day! We are a family of 4, kids ages 8 and 10 and they give you your own guide if you have kids. We had Cooper and he was amazing - joked with the kids, was helpful with gear, knowledgeable about the area and just a really nice guy. We saw Bald Eagles, sea otters and sea lions. Very peaceful on the water. Had a nice stop on a beach with homemade granola bars and hot cocoa tea. Kayaking in Alaska - bucket list check! 10 out of 10 recommend. Also they have waterproof gear to borrow if you need it.
Melissa K — Google review
We loved our trip! We were unable to kayak due to strong north winds, but the wildlife tour was absolutely worth it! Our guide Freddy was super friendly and had lots of knowledge. The boat stopped for tons of wildlife - we saw humpback and orca whales, otters, seals, sea lions, puffins, porpoises, and mountain goats! We saw several humpbacks feeding in a circle which was awesome. The captain (Jamie?) got us really close to shore and put us in great position to see everything, including Aialik Glacier, which we were able to get quite close to.

Nestled along the stunning shores of Resurrection Bay, Seasalt Alaskan Bar & Grill is a warm and inviting eatery that celebrates the rich flavors of local Alaskan cuisine. This charming spot offers an array of delectable seafood dishes, including their renowned fried halibut and succulent salmon served in grilled flour shells. The menu features all-day entrees like the unique Alaskan Sami—a delightful twist on a Cuban sandwich—and flavorful Rockfish tacos.
After a long day of kayaking the Alaskan, recommended by our friendly waitress Slanna was the perfect choice. Slow roasted reindeer with bacon on a ciabatta roll. Warmed me right up. Tastes just like home cooking.

Convenient spot to grab a bite. Fish and chips are amazing but way too expensive 😫 50 bucks! We got burgers for 18, and they were great, too. My daughter got the kids' fish and chips and let me try some. Service was great and the dining area quite elegant. I don't recommend the coleslaw, not what you would normally expect.
Alicia J — Google review
Close to the museum with plenty of outdoor seating, this place seems like it would be popular. We arrived on a Sunday evening and there was only other table occupied. Service and food were ok. We had the salmon with a blueberry compote and salad. Nothing special.
Maria M — Google review
I’m really amazed by the king crab legs and the chowder. They taste so fresh and natural, i also tried the halibut fish and chips. I strongly suggest trying halibut and the crab. Huili is from the same country as me and all other waiters am were also so friendly. I felt like this is my second hometown, as a sea food lover.

Great recommendation from a friendly stranger. Service is outstanding. The food is delicious and well made with fresh ingredients. I had the apple walnut salad. The cod fish and chips that my mother got was crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. My husband had the reindeer sausage soup and he wanted to come back for it. Even the kids Mac and cheese was flatbed on top. The attention to detail!!

Pretty place, great location… but that’s where it ends The building is charming and the location is fantastic, but don’t let that fool you, walk on past. The employees were friendly and the service, while a bit slow, wasn’t terrible. The menu looked fun, the dishes were plated beautifully, and the cocktails were just as gorgeous. The view from our window was fantastic. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t hold up past the aesthetics. They had the heat on, which is strange for summer, and the food missed the mark. My halibut was overcooked, the fries were undercooked, and the jalapeño coleslaw, while an interesting concept, didn’t pair well with the rest of the plate. The margarita was a heavy pour of what tasted like low-end tequila, making it undrinkable. Save your money—there are better places to eat nearby that offer both the view and the flavor.

Good location right across from the sea life center. They sat us right away and were very attentive. Menu was pretty small consisting of a variety of burgers and seafood items. For 16 dollars you can get 6 coconut shrimp that come straight from Costco…. The burger I got was not good which is ironic because this place serves pretty much nothing but burgers. Place smelled like it was built in the 1800s. Do yourself a favor and eat at the taco truck across the road

Flamingo Lounge, located in downtown Seward, is a historic restaurant and bar that has recently undergone revitalization. The establishment offers a classic steakhouse experience with locally sourced seafood and a menu featuring fun cocktails. With its 1950s hospitality vibe, the lounge provides sustainably sourced meals and an array of craft cocktails. The venue also features a wine bar within Primrose Provisions, offering vintage goods, art, and gourmet cheeses in a homey setting.
What a fun and quirky place! The decor is so retro it feels like you've stepped back in time. The food menu is relatively limited, but everything they do, they do WELL. Everything we ordered was fabulous. The crab cake was sooo fresh. My only regret is that I got the 6 piece bucket of butt and not the 10 piece! The drinks are also very fun and creative- perfect match to the ambiance. Definitely a must try when visiting Seward!
Bailey J — Google review
Gluten free fried fish bites!!! We found Flamingo Lounge on a gluten free app, and the reviews were right! Our server Spencer was friendly and happy to answer a few questions from us. The Bucket of Butt was incredible. The batter (coconut flour based) was perfectly seasoned and was fried to an impressive crisp in a dedicated fryer. My wife and I shared the 10 chunk bucket and added fries with it. We also had a couple of their zero-proof drinks and both were surprising. Very refreshing. Overall, this was one of the best GF meals I've had in years. Would highly recommend!

Has character and staff is really nice. We showed up on Memorial Day weekend at the height of dinner time and they let us grab a cocktail standing for a chance to sneak into a bar seat for food before the table could open (1 hour wait). Worked and food was great! Crab is good enough to stand alone so just hope when we're back they have a full crab entree!!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Outstanding vibe, high quality fresh food, and expertly crafted cocktails. It’s very hard to believe a place this high of quality exists in a city of only 2,800 people. My home town in Ohio is 25,000 and nothing comes close to the quality of the food and service here. The halibut was one of the best fish I’ve ever had. The crab cakes had literal chunks of crab in them. They even threw in part of a shell to show me it was fresh lmao! They certainly know how to make an old fashioned. I cannot recommend this place enough. Checkout Flamingo Lounge when you’re in Seward. You will not be disappointed!

The coolest little gem in Seward! Swanky 60s style lounge with excellent cocktails and food. The staff were all so nice as well. I got a whole snow crab here for nearly half the price of other popular spots in town. Can’t be beat if you’re looking for good vibes and food.

I heard people talking about the place and wanted to check it out. The place didn't disappoint. The sourdough bread was excellent. The drinks were good and I really enjoyed my Crab legs, you should also try the halibut, it was excellent as well.

Super cute lounge with great atmosphere and aesthetic. I got my crab fix here and it was excellent. The tanner crab was sweet and succulent, barely even touched the butter! Service at the bar was friendly and attentive too. All around killer!

Really enjoyed all of their food and fancy drinks! Very cozy atmosphere. Super appreciate the separated fryer for GF items to meet needs of our gluten-free family members. They accommodated seating for our group of 5 in just 30 minutes with no reservation. Maggie was our waitress and just so sweet and lovely.

Chinese restaurant
Peking Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant in Seward, AK that offers a wide range of Asian cuisine, from sesame chicken to mixed noodles. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior is inviting and the food is highly praised. Customers rave about dishes like Mongolian beef and tofu soup, noting generous portions and fast service. The owners are described as friendly and the overall experience as delightful.
Good experience here tonight. We stopped about 3:45 and wasn't busy yet at all on a Friday night. Right around four, several other groups came in. We got soup with our meals. Food typical Chinese food, pretty good overall. They do Togo orders which is nice in this small town.

I was very surprised by this place! It's defently the best Chinese restaurant I've been to. I had the chicken chow mein and it was fantastic. It a true mom and pop restaurant. Super friendly owners! Will definitely stop by again on our next trip to seward.

If you love Chinese, go here!!! The Mongolian beef is AMAZING!!!!! The portions are HUGE! You won't be disappointed! The lady and her husband are so nice also! They're like little ninjas in the kitchen. The food was done so fast and tasted oh so amazing!! It's forsure underrated!

Our food was very tasty. The Mongolian Beef was our favorite dish. Grandmother our server was a little slow but the food came fast and generous servings. We will eat there again.

The yummiest Chinese food I had in Seward!! When you look at it from outside it might deceive you but it's beautiful inside. I was craving some hot soup and ordered their tofu soup which was made without egg and it was one of the best soups of my life :) spicy n hot just what I needed :) do try it out..!

Almost didn't get a picture of my Mongolian Beef, it was so delicious. Wonderful oriental fare and everyone in my family was happy with their food - Almond Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken and Halibut. Definitely recommend this spot!

Family owned restaurant, large portions with the standard American-Chinese menu and decor. Personal preference I'd give it a 3-star rating, but for most people I think they'll really enjoy the restaurant so I gave them 4.

The best Chinese food i think I’ve ever had! Staff was incredibly friendly, food was to die for! Definitely recommend the Mongolian beef!

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Kenai Fjords Tours, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Firebrand BBQ. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Kenai Fjords Tours

Boat tour agency
Kenai Fjords Tours, a long-standing tour operator in Seward, offers a range of cruises in Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. Their fleet of modern boats provides opportunities to see tidewater glaciers and wildlife such as puffins, sea otters, Dalls porpoises, and sea lions. The company is well-regarded for its enthusiastic staff and has been operating since 1974.
The crew was excellent — very friendly and attentive throughout the tour. The captain always pointed out where to look and what we were seeing: orcas, seals, sea lions, an eagle, and even an otter. They made sure to slow down or stop so that everyone had a chance to see the wildlife. I also appreciated their drink deal: for $12 you could buy a souvenir cup and get unlimited refills of soda, coffee, and tea. At the end of the trip, we were treated to freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, which was a wonderful surprise. Lunch, however, was a bit underwhelming — just a burrito and chips. For such a long cruise, it would be nice to have a hot meal option, like soup and some protein. Connectivity was also an issue for me. Since I work remotely, being without signal for six hours was stressful. It would be great if the boat were equipped with Wi-Fi, even if paid. The highlight of the cruise was seeing the glacier up close. The crew even brought a piece of glacier ice on board so we could touch it — and even use it in our drinks! Overall, it was a fantastic experience that I would definitely recommend. Just be sure to dress warmly, as it can get quite windy out on the water.

Well there is a reason they have a 4.8 star review. This trip was awesome. We got lucky and had perfect weather so that made it even better. Steve (evening Steve) was out captain and his knowledge was amazing. I'm not a history person but hearing all the facts he had made the trip that much better. The food they served was actually really good and then a chocolate chip cookie at the and was icing on the cake. We got to see humpback whales and orcas along with a bunch of birds. Then the glaciers and other scenery was just fantastic. We will be bringing the kids back and this will definitely be a trip we take again.
Doug R — Google review
Wow this tour was amazing! We went on the Classic Kenai Fjord Tour and the views were amazing. We saw two glaciers, lots of wildlife including whales, sea otter, seals, and sea lions. The staff was absolutely fantastic. Shoutout to Captain Smith! He was very patient and and let us take pictures of wildlife he could find, he was very informative and gave us a background history of Seward. The crew was amazing too, they had very fast service with the lunch (which was amazing!) The entire experience was amazing 👏
Shobhit J — Google review
First and most important: we picked an 8 hours tour and for everyone, who have doubts either to take a smaller tour or this one, I would highly recommend to take this one. I was at that position as well, and the lady we met during our trip recommended to take 8 hours, as she took it and she was so impressed. Here are the reasons that might help you: 1. You would have a chance to get way further and closer to the glacier and with that get a better understanding on how big it was and how much of it already melted. 2. The captain of the cruise always have some interesting insights about every part of the way, the cruise is going through. 3. You will see and hear how glacier pieces fall apart. This is magnificent to watch and hear. 4. The wildlife - captain always chasing any wildlife he or anyone on the cruise sees. We were lucky to see the group of whales, who were catching the food. We also were going along with a whale mom and a kid and watching them playing, as well as tried to get a better view of orcas. 5. Yes, I know it might be pricey, but it totally worth every penny! The experience is unforgettable. 6. Besides glacier and wildlife, there are waterfalls, islands and lot more! !! Important part: take some motion medicine, as chasing wildlife might sounds like a fun, but in reality your body might not be that excited of all waves 😅
Rufina E — Google review
Everything was excellent from start to finish! The check in process was very easy. There is a waiting room and bathrooms as you wait to board. Keep in mind their check in office is inside of a hotel so it gets busy! Now the cruise itself was breathtaking! The crew was very kind and caring. They talked with every passenger on board and chatted/shared stories which made the whole experience more memorable. We received brochures of all the animals that we could potentially see. The captain went to great efforts to spot and point out any animals he encountered and we saw a ton! From whales, sea lions, sea others, puffins and a ton of Orcas! I am so happy for this once in a lifetime experience!
Lukasz ( — Google review
Fantastic boat and charter. Check in was easy with a nice sized gift shop to browse while you wait. The boat had plenty of room for all the passengers. We saw tons of animals. The sights were amazing. 8/31, it was cold but awesome to be able to go inside for a few to warm up. The food was great both the chicken and gluten free/veggie option. Couldn't/wouldn't have changed a thing.
Buhlakay G — Google review
Even though it is pretty geared towards mass tourism, they managed to provide a very unique and excellent tour. We saw wildlife and glaciers beyond our wildest expectations and they did everything to make the trip enjoyable. Note: it was pretty cold and the sea was rough. Ships seemed in top condition and staff is accommodating and professional. Recommendation!
Mfo — Google review
We started our trip from the port in Seward, and the views were breathtaking right from the start. Along the way, we spotted puffins, whales, orcas, and sea lions—an unforgettable experience. Our guides were funny, knowledgeable, and full of great stories. It gets chilly, so bring layers. Book early to get a 10% early-bird discount. One of the best tours in Alaska—don’t miss it! PS: it was a great sunny day - that made this tour even more enjoyable!

Seafood restaurant
Ray's Waterfront is a renowned dining spot in Seward, Alaska, offering inventive seafood and steak dishes in a charming wood-paneled dining room with breathtaking views of the marina and mountains. The restaurant is celebrated for its focus on locally caught seafood, including specialties like clam chowder and seafood pasta. Visitors can enjoy the freshest seafood as fishing boats unload right at the dock.
We had an incredible dining experience! The food, service, and views were all exceptional. Although we had to wait a bit due to the dinner rush, it was absolutely worth it, as this was one of the best meals we've had in Alaska. We tried the Seafood chowder, Clams, Seafood linguine, and Alaskan Crab Legs, all of which were fantastic. The sourdough bread was a standout too! I highly recommend Rays and I’m already looking forward to our next visit!

WOW! We were so pleased with our experience! We had 9:30p reservations & we were not rushed at all! The menu offered a great selection along with the daily specials. We liked the suggested wine pairing. Justin H. was very attentive & professional. The seafood was fresh & cooked perfectly. We enjoyed the chocolate cake to go-don’t skip this!

While on an Anchorage tour, a couple recommended Ray's as a good place to eat in Seward. They were not wrong. My husband and I shared oysters, seafood chowder and fish with chips. Everything was delicious and tasted so fresh. Stan, our server, was professional and friendly. He provided excellent service. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Music was just the right level so talking was very easy. And the view is incredible.

Stopped by for a large family style meal with friends. We tried many items across the menu, as well as the suggested wine pairing — everything was super delicious. We stopped in around dinner time with no reservation, and as a group of 5 we were seated in one of the best seats in the house immediately. Service was fantastic, and the whole group regarded this meal as one of the best we had in AK. I will be back given the opportunity!

We got a great booth overlooking the water and had a wonderful time!! If you are visiting Seward you should come here. HOWEVER…if you ARE NOT in a hurry, you need to intentionally order slowly because the food comes out fast. So if you’re trying to relax just order a couple things at a time and do not put in your order all at once. We ordered slowly and they didn’t rush us and we had a great time! We had lots of wine and super yummy seafood. The staff was friendly and we would def go back!
Heather G — Google review
Great experience at the restaurant. Food was great, but perhaps some plating would be an elevation to the experience. Most fish come with an Asian-infused style of cooking which was really refreshing and surprising to us! Server and ambience is great nonetheless, definitely a recommended place in Seward !
Wen N — Google review
We were hesitant to go based on the mixed reviews but ended up with great food. Food in Alaska is expensive, but this was by far our most expensive meal of the trip. The food was good but the presentation/plating was very sloppy. Sablefish was outstanding. A tiny basket of bread came before the meal and we were told if we wanted more it would cost $6, go the price of the meals more bread should be included. Service was lackluster.
John R — Google review
Excellent seafood and very kind wait staff. The drinks were all excellent, we enjoyed the Miso Sablefish and Chowder the most. The fisherman’s stew and ultimate seafood linguine were also excellent. The restaurant was not overly loud, it was easy to talk to everyone at the table. The views from the restaurant were excellent and it was easy to access downtown. The waiter made good recommendations for our food and also helped advise on what to do while we were in town.

J-Dock Fishing Co. in Alaska is highly recommended for a fantastic fishing experience. Visitors with little to no fishing experience found it to be their favorite day of the week out of five different charters they went on. The crew, especially on The Predator with Kyle and his deckhands, was patient and created a professional yet fun environment. Another visitor described their trip as the coolest charter trip ever, despite slow fishing due to early season.
We had a great time with J-Dock on a multi species trip…great memories with my sons. I forget the name of the young captain, but he and the deck hands did a great job of getting us on to fish and knew how to have fun. We sent 60lbs of mostly salmon back home. Everything arrived frozen and vacuum sealed properly. Shipping was steep, but it was worth the convenience of not trying get it on the plane. Good job J-Dock!

J-Dock Fishing was a fabulous experience. The crew was amazing and so fun to fish with. We moved to several fishing sites in Resurrection Bay with lots of success with Rockfish and pacific codfish. The company vacuum packs and ships your fish overnight UPS on the date you pick. The shipping boxes are incremental in weight you pay for. If the amount of fish you catch leaves extra room in your shipment box I recommend purchasing some wonderful fish from the J-Docks store to fill it the rest of the way. Shipment came with no problems, no thawing in August and 100 degree weather. Great job guy!!
Rose K — Google review
Went out for a Combo trip with the J-Docks team and had a blast on the Predator. Our Capt Kyle put us on the fish and had us laughing the entire time. The Crew was also amazing - those gents ran around the boat - gaffing fish and marking them accordingly. When we got back to the docks, the Processing team was there to help anyone out with shipment needs. Absolutely loved that this was another offering J-Docks had. Simple, easy, and fish was at the door about 24 hrs after we completed our charter. Be aware with shipping that if you want to have your fish labeled or skinned, there are some minor additional costs - but in the grand scheme of things, that's nothing. Would 1000% book another charter with these guys. Just gotta get back up to AK for it.
Krissy M — Google review
From checkin until docked after our fishing adventure, staff were great! A special shoutout to our fishing charter crew: Captain Zach, Ben and Isaac (woo woo). Especially Zach and woo woo, remained energetic and involved throughout the entire trip! Despite some of us feeling queasy and weather was a bit less desirable and rough waters-they remained excited and got us all regrouped and fishing throughout the trip! They seemed to have a goal and we all caught halibut and other species! Knew us all by name and made sure everyone got attention. They are very efficient and good at their job! Thank you!

We had a FANTASTIC time on the Predator with Capt. Kyle and Deck hands Jack and Spencer, These guys took care of the entire team, we had 12 onboard and they went above and beyond to make sure everyone on board was on fish. We had a great day fishing on a beautiful day. Thank you for the memories! This was our first year fishing in Seward and I wish we knew or was informed about the Derby contest prior, Our team would have won with our 33” 19# Silver 🤷🏻‍♂️😎… Next year!!!

Second time with JDock company. Both times were excellent! The captain and deckhands made certain everyone had a great time. Caught a big king salmon and took my friend who had never gone ocean fishing. She’s got the fishing bug now :)
Kristine C — Google review
Husband and I did a multi species trip and had the time of our lives! Limited on rockfish and went 3 for 4 on halibut, plus some bonus species. Caught so many fish my arm was sore for days. Husband was sea sick and still had the best time! Captain Kyle and deckhands Jack and Spencer worked hard to get us on fish! I was so impressed how hard these guys worked in the cold rainy weather. Hope to come back again!
Courtney O — Google review
We had a great experience with J-dock! There were 7 in our group - most with no deep sea experience. Captain Kyle was awesome and got us where we needed to be to catch 186 pounds of halibut, rockfish and salmon - and at the end of the season! The deck hands - Andrew and Bryson - were running all over the place helping our group bring in the fish and re-bait and cast our lines - always with a smile and encouraging word as we each learned how to fish for the different species. The fish were cleaned and ready to go by the time we got back to land. I'm already ready to go again! Awesome experience!

Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center is a must-see destination in Seward, Alaska. The park, established in 1980, covers 587,000 acres and features the massive Harding Icefield from which numerous tidewater glaciers flow into coastal fjords. Visitors can enjoy guided marine life and glacier cruises to witness calving glaciers and marine wildlife up close or go on whale-watching excursions. Seward serves as a popular starting point for kayaking trips within the park.
What an awesome boat tour! Major Marine tours rocks! Our 6 hour Kenai Fjords was fantastic. Great crew maybe even close to Sailors. Take the longest tour you can.

This information and visitor center for the national park is located in the heart of the town amidst all the day cruise companies. It’s easily accessible and has about two rangers helping out with the maps and other purchases. They have interactive exhibits displaying information about the history of various glaciers, people living in the fjords, and more. Can easily spend an hour there. Amelia at the front desk gave us more information about the trails available around the park. Definitely recommend it.

This was an amazing time and worth every penny! Ordering tickets online was easy and the staff and Captin greeted everyone as they boarded the boat and left the boat. You can tell they love their job. The captain was very knowledgeable and active in pointing out and showing us all the wildlife and landmarks possible. The food was very delicious. The boat was very clean and maintained. Heated cabins with a view and open decks allow you to move all over the deck to catch the best views. The crew and Captain interacted with us alot and were energetic to make us feel welcome. I can't wait to take my whole family next year!

Beautiful views and thoughtfully curated park experience. Lots of useful signs to explain how glaciers are formed and how climate change has caused them to recede dramatically in last 150 years. Seward Boat Harbor is a bustling port offering various fishing charters, tour boats, eateries, and shops. Over 100 fishing and tour boats depart from here for adventures in the Kenai Fjords.

The harbour is well located on the main Seward street, however, it doesn't have a good arrangement for people standing in queue and you will get drenched in rain while waiting to board the cruise. If you're looking to launch your boat or watch some wildlife then the Seward Boat Harbor is a great place to visit. The Seward Boat Harbor is a great place to launch a boat or even a kayak. The boat launch is located near the Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center on 4th Street and the kayak launch is located at the Northeast corner of the Seward Boat Harbor. Parking is a pain, so you will need some coins or a credit card to pay for time. The Seward Boat Harbor is home to wildlife including sea otters. If the sun is bright you can see fry swimming in gigantic numbers below the catwalks. Occasionally a bald eagle will sit on a tall light pole looking for fish too. The Seward Boat Harbor is a great resource, but the sad reality is the expansion many years ago removed a significant amount of beach. The beach was a great place to snag King Salmon. While the fishing near the Seward Boat Harbor isn't the same the expansion did modernize and expand the Seward Boat Harbor capacity.

Nestled in the charming town of Seward, Alaska, Firebrand BBQ is a delightful stop for anyone craving authentic Texas-style barbecue. This casual eatery, easily identifiable by its bright yellow sign, offers a cozy atmosphere with covered outdoor seating that’s perfect for enjoying your meal while soaking in the local scenery. The owners, hailing from Amarillo, Texas, recognized a gap in the market for quality BBQ upon their arrival in Alaska and decided to fill it with this inviting spot.
We decided to get some take out at The Firebrand BBQ. We ordered the crab cluster and a pulled pork plate. Delicious!! It was ready quickly and we took it back to our campground. It was still really hot when we opened it up. The crab cluster was so good and worth the price. The pulled pork plate was really good. The portions for both were huge. It was a great meal for a rainy day.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and I finally got a chance to go. The ordering process was super easy, and the wait staff was really friendly and helpful. Everything seemed to be set up for a great experience. The seating area is outside, under a building cover, so dress appropriately for weather. The tables and chairs were nice, though. The only downside was the food. It was really bland and didn’t have much flavor or taste. I even tried the BBQ sauce that they had on the table, but it tasted just as bland and watery. I ended up drowning it in hot sauce halfway through to at least have some flavor. I was honestly surprised, considering all the positive reviews I had read.

When you think Alaska port town you think seafood, but this is absolutely some of the best BBQ you will eat in the country. I grew up in CA and now live in FL. I judge a joint by it's smoked turkey and brisket. The turkey was so moist and flavorful tossed in the House made BBQ sauce. I wish it was sliced though. Didnt get brisket but they had BEEF RIBS smoked to perfection. Beans and Coleslaw were okay, Potato salad excellent.

We visited in mid-August. The outdoor setting was pleasant with nice weather. We ordered a plate of brisket and brisket in a loaded BBQ potato. The portions were a bit small for the price, but the food was tasty

This place has a great vibe. The owner is out and about the entire time making sure his guests are happy and fed. Gluten free food!!!! Owner told me everything is gluten free except the toast. Such a blessing for my allergy! The portions were very generous! The loaded baked potato was absolutely amazing. The potato salad is delicious! The bbq sauce was good but not exceptional. They also have heaters outside for the ones wimpy to cold like me since all searing is outdoors. The vibe in general helped make my review. Incredible vibe, incredible service great food. I highly suggest you all try Mad Jacks in Cloudcroft NM if you enjoy this place.

Treated ourselves to snow crab legs and they were the best price we found in town. Crab was amazing! The pork belly and brisket were also tasty. At one point they brought out extra ribs and passed some around to the customers so we got to try them. I think as far as the meat goes, the ribs were the best. Sides were ok but the main dishes more than made up for it. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and service was great

The atmosphere feels very laid back and relaxed. The table seating is all outdoors, however, there are heaters so it is not chilly. The food was very tasty and the service was very quick. The food is also very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

We went here because Chat GPT told us this place had the best crab legs! Smoked crab legs cluster and a glass of beer was what we got! The chef gave us our crab but without any butter or sauce. We tried the meat nekkid and it really didn't need any saucin'. It was naturally salty and the smoke from the BBQ was chef's kiss. The owner and everyone working there were super kind and warm. Very happy with the food, service and vibes. They were busy! We highly recommend this place. One of the top 2 places to eat in Seward. (The other is Miller's Landing.) Wishing them continued success.

Chinooks Restaurant is a popular year-round spot with stunning views of the small-boat harbor and hanging glaciers in the Kenai Mountains. The restaurant prides itself on serving sustainable Alaskan seafood, with everything made on-site, including salad dressings and infused liquors for their creative cocktails. The waterfront location offers a trendy sushi bar upstairs, featuring unique selections not typically found in traditional sushi rolls.
Our must have for our trip to Seward was King Crab Legs. We chose to go to Chinooks to do eat ... we both get seafood a lot and .we both agreed that these were some of the beat we have ever had. The even better part was the exceptional service of Nicole our waitress and Debbie the Manager. If you find youself in Seward Alaska we highly recommend that you stop at Chinooks!

This restaurant was good! The view was spectacular. Our waitress was great and told us about the customer favorites. The crab cakes and fish & chips were a hit.

A stunning venue, a delightful waitress, and mediocre food.. The halibut came with bird's eye frozen beans, $38 halibut and frozen beans go figure... The halibut was actually quite good but rather miniscule for the price, The rice was overcooked and cold, and frozen beans yes frozen beans! But wait The view of the small boat harbor is great The waitress was exceptional beyond comparison, The wine was very good and and well priced., so in spite of the frozen beans a pretty good experience, I'm not sure I'd go back, except to chat with Sherry the waitress and enjoy the wine and the view but not the frozen beans.

Decided to stop here for lunch as there was no wait. Got seated and walked into a swarm of some type of bug IN the restaurant flying over all the tables. Shrugged it off. We ordered clam chowder that only had a taste once I put an immense amount of salt on it. Honestly everything we ordered needed so much salt to have a taste except for my kids chicken nuggets which were too salty. They need a new chef.food is way too over priced for the cardboard you get.

We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. A place next door had an hour and a half wait, we walked right in here. Had us worried for a second. But people are crazy not to line up here. Halibut pesto and the caribou meatloaf were great, as well as the snow crab claws.

The Main dinner Halibut with stuffed crab in a lobster bisque sauce($43) and the Clam Chowder ($12) was tasty. I would rate this a 5 out of 5 except the value is just not there. We had the Stuffed Halibut with Crab on a lobster bisque sauce ($43). It was very good taste and texture. However it was the smallest piece of Halibut i have ever seen at a resteraunt, and with just a miniscule amount of crab (see photo). Kids meal was 10$ for fish and chips, large potion of fries and just 1 small piece of fried rockfish. With a order of shrimp, 5 pieces, and a glass of wine all this was $110 with tip. I just do not see the value here. Not a good deal at all. I would probably say I would value this dinner at $40 max not the $110 due to the portian size.
Greg M — Google review
Our waitress was absolutely wonderful! The view of the wharf added to the great experience. The food was good but was pricy for what we got as far as flavor profile. The smoked salmon bowl had cold broccoli and it was weird with hot rice. Caribou meatloaf was amazing. Was happy with dinner but nothing to write home about.

We recently visited Chinooks in Seward, Alaska and were very disappointed with our experience — both in terms of the food and the service. We ordered the king crab legs, which were quite expensive, and came with a side of white rice and green beans. Unfortunately, the sides tasted like they came straight from a can — bland, watery, and unappetizing, which is unacceptable at this price point. However, the biggest issue came after the meal. The service was poor, and we left a tip that reflected that experience. We even took a photo of our receipt at the table because we had a gut feeling there might be an issue. A few days later, we noticed that an extra tip was added without our consent. We contacted the restaurant and were told the waiter was actually the owner’s son, and that "this couldn’t have happened." After a few days of investigating, the manager admitted that the additional tip had in fact been added — not by us. Their way of resolving it? Asking for my home mailing address to send a refund. I found this completely unprofessional and invasive, especially when the proper way to resolve this would be a direct refund to the card. Overall, between the low-quality food, poor service, and unauthorized charge, this was a very frustrating experience. I would strongly caution others before dining here.

"The Porthole" is a popular food truck in Seward, Alaska, known for its creative and delicious breakfast offerings. The menu features unique items like the "Stuff Your Porthole," a filling croissant sandwich with scrambled eggs and pork sausage. Visitors also rave about the ribeye steak sandwich and the flavorful burritos. The friendly staff provides great recommendations, and despite the limited outdoor seating, customers enjoy their meals in a welcoming atmosphere.
The people here were THE BEST! The breakfast burrito was THE BEST! I cannot go somewhere and not get a burrito and this one was amazing. I waited around 15 minutes, so not super fast, but worth the wait.

The sausage burrito is bangin! The sausage is ground up and you can taste that sage goodness. They put hash browns in there. Crispy. Done properly with cheese and egg. The salsa is a perfect sweet and savory matches perfectly. Staff seem really nice. The surrounding area is breathtaking. Gravy was good.

We visited for breakfast during Memorial Day weekend after seeing a friend post a photo of the Deckhand. My wife and I had the Deckhand, our teenage boy had the breakfast burrito. The food was fresh and hot. The Deckhand was good, neither my wife nor I were crazy about the onions. They were a bit soggy but powerful in onion flavor. I wish there had been a bit more of the sauce as the couple bites I had with less onion and more sauce were great. Our teen really liked the breakfast burrito. We will be back to try something else for breakfast tomorrow. There is only one table and no seating out of the rain. Fun to watch the boats in the harbor while eating. Overall, good food, you will enjoy.

Get the Deckhand it’s the best breakfast sandwich ever! People are super friendly. Not a lot of seating but how could you be upset when you can walk to the dock and eat breakfast with these views!

Appreciate the fast and friendly service next door to our cruise pick up at 7am, wish the breakfast burrito had a sauce on it, next time I recommend paying the extra $2 for a crema option to give it flavor, good local made tortilla

Who knew the best breakfast stop in town opens up early enough to get food before you hit the water. We loved our food! VERY LOADED. We could have split our meal, so much good food!

My family stopped on the way to our days excursion. We ordered and the staff was very friendly. That’s about all the good I can say about my experience. First they forgot our orders completely. We waited for almost an hour. We had time to spare when we got to the harbor and we were running by the time we finally told them they forgot us. They never would’ve known despite having ticket numbers. When we finally did get our food we didn’t have time to get the orders fixed. One sandwich came without any meat on it, one barely came at all. Then they informed us AFTER I paid, that they were out of gluten free buns for my wife. So my wife and I are now on a boat tour for eight hours and she had to give the sandwich to my mother who was sans sausage. The food we got was fantastic but not worth the hassle. I sincerely hope someone was just having an off morning because if not then the people of Seward must be much more tolerant than the rest of the world.

Hamburger restaurant
Red's Burgers is a popular and cozy burger joint located in Seward, Alaska. It operates only during the summer season and offers classic as well as vegetarian burger options. The unique dining experience includes outdoor seating and a renovated school bus where customers can enjoy their meals. The menu features hand-crafted burgers with various Alaskan game meat options such as caribou, buffalo, elk, and venison. Additionally, they offer specialty fries like Cajun and garlic.
At first I was a little annoyed…no phone number! No calling ahead so that I didn’t have to wait in line. But then I went anyway! This place reminds me of a bygone in Homer, the OG Boatyard! This greasy spoon, or should I say greasy bus is legit. Great food, great owners, worth a stop or two while you’re in Seward! They even have card games and kids books to enjoy while you wait. The bacon burger had a layer of bacon not just two puny strips like some other joints. Just like photos of Alaska, they don’t do it justice! You gotta try it. Been in business since the 80s, so you know they’re doing something right!

If you’re visiting Seward, this is a must visit. We ordered a venison burger and a bacon cheese burger with fries. Check out how much bacon was on the burger - it was at least 4-5 layers. The food was delicious AND a school bus to eat in??? Very cool. This place is awesome. 10/10 recommend
Robert L — Google review
Went there around lunchtime and ordered 3 burgers-two bacon and one cheese. $60 plus tip. Didn't take too long to get the food (wasn't too busy) and overall, a good amount of seating. The burgers were maybe like 1/4" thick and overcooked, the bacon tasted and looked like it was cooking in burnt, dirty grease, and the burgers just tasted super bland. I'll repeat this part because for $60 total, I would hope to have a good serving size but the meat patty was way too thin and overcooked. I did however love the fries. Tastiest fries I've had in a while. I'll probably try a different spot next time.

Great burgers, cool atmosphere with ordering and going and the school bus, and great overall. Quick and easy to get a good meal of burgers and fries. Cod basket was decent.

Great burgers and fries place and I'm a burger snob. If you want a good burger in Seward this is your place. Very nice folks to boot. Seating is a bit odd albeit comfortable in an old school bus. To feed a family of five, it was $79.00... Everything in Alaska is expensive so it's average prices. Wife and daughter for fish (cod) and chips. They really liked theirs too. Highly recommend this place if your in the Burger of fish and chips mood.

Really cool little place. We originally sat down at a restaurant by the water and after looking at the menu we knew it wasn't for us. We left there and stumbled upon this place. This was sooo much better. I got a burger and a couple other got fish and chips. The food was great and we sat outside because the weather was perfect. The little bus as a seating area was a cool touch. They had a good menu and a big selection of shakes. I got a boring vanilla one but it was really thick and tasty. The staff was really friendly and they were busting their butts to get the food out fast. I definitely suggest tryinng them out.

We ordered Red’s #1 burger with Maple Bacon and an Elk Cheese Burger for to-go. The burgers were delicious, fries tasted great, with generous serving size and fresh ingredients. The prices were decent for the huge portion we got. They can get pretty busy during dinner so there’s a bit of a wait but it was worth it!

Lighthouse Cafe & Bakery is a cozy spot located across from the harbor in Seward, AK. It's known for its casual atmosphere and serves as a perfect stop for a quick breakfast or lunch. The cafe also houses a small gift shop offering various items, including homemade Alaskan goods.
Good, hot and strong coffee with excellent pastries for me. The staff was very accommodating, kind and efficient. The cafe seems to be one of the social centers of Seward because of the conversations I heard and was a part of. Eric was quick and kind to give information to people who came in from the sidewalk even without a purchase from the individual.

Good place to get a large breakfast for a good price. They are located in the small harbor. The pancakes where 8 inches and about an inch thick. Definitely more than enough to fill me up.

Really good food! Everything smelled delicious! We all got filled. Their food was made freshly for us and tasted like it was made in house. We had really service too- they were understanding of our kiddos. Their cinnamon rolls and raspberry cream bear paws are done of the best we have had! A must stop!

An unassuming cafe from the outside. A great community and some amazing food on the inside. The breakfast burrito and the apple fritter were amazing. My family also really enjoyed the biscuit sandwich and the fried egg sandwich (but I think the burrito is the winner). Everyone, including the patrons, were so kind and talkative. It really made the experience great. Highly recommend stopping here if you come to Seward.

Very good breakfast! I had a bagel breakfast sandwich and my husband had pancakes - we both felt full and actually didn’t eat lunch as we weren’t hungry. Wonderful employees and very friendly gentleman running things. This is a busy place and items are cooked as you order, so don’t go in thinking this is “fast food”; definitely worth the wait. Breakfast served til 11, then lunch items; closes at 2. They also have bakery/donut shop items and the cinnamon roll is delicious!
Shauna B — Google review
I've debated about leaving a review for Lighthouse cafe and bakery. I did a google search, as I typically do for the various town/cities we visit, for sourdough bakery. Lighthouse Bakery came up. Then we walked around Seward and I saw it. The first time we looked in it was busy, two young girls were selling chocolate chip cookies outside and we happily bought two. But I didn't see many pastries and absolute no loaves of read. It was between 10-11 am and I thought that perhaps they were just already out. Then this morning we visited again for breakfast. As stated in some other reviews the counter man has opinions that he isn't shy about sharing, but I thought that, because I also love Jesus Christ the Lord, there might be some kinship. But there wasn't. He just seemed a bit angry and quite disgruntled. We ordered two breakfasts - both with eggs over easy. The menu indicated that my breakfast came with choice of bread. When I asked about sourdough bread the counter man said that they only have white bread and the indication was that that's the only bread they ever have (and I should be happy with it). We also requested orange juice, which turned out to be something like Tang orange beverage. When we received our breakfasts (order at the counter then they bring it to you when ready) one was scrambled eggs and the other over easy. Husband said he'd take the scrambled, so we switched the bacon with the reindeer sausage because there was a line at the counter and in some of the reviews it indicates that asking for corrections is greeted caustically. The cinnamon rolls and other pastries were plentiful at this time of day (about 8:30 am) and we got some to go for breakfasts tomorrow and possibly beyond. They are quite large and the little bits that stuck to the bag when I transferred them to an air tight container were tasty, so I'm hopeful for future meals. So three stars seems a middling experience.
Katie J — Google review
This is the place to eat breakfast while in Seward! The very few places that are open for breakfast are over priced tourist traps. Not the Lighthouse! They serve a great breakfast at very reasonable prices. The folks at the counter are friendly and helpful. We will come back again!

I was skeptical when I walked in, the place kinda had that "dive" vibe. The staff were very friendly and polite. The latte was really good! I had a raspberry bear claw, very tasty!! Prices are very reasonable, not inflated tourist price tags.

Waterfront Park in Seward, located along the shores of Resurrection Bay, offers a versatile and picturesque destination for visitors. The park features stunning views of the bay and surrounding mountains, making it perfect for picnics, birdwatching, and observing wild animals. It also provides recreational options such as camping, playgrounds, beach access, and a 2-mile paved trail with benches and picnic tables.
Stunning view and lots of tv and camping spots which available with online reservations

camping Oceanside, fire pits right on the boardwalk sites, flushies and showers. There were no doors on the washrooms which included the showers so not that secure. I stood outside the washroom entrance so my wife felt comfortable showering in that environment. Absolutely beautiful vistas and walking distance to downtown! We would stay here again for sure!!

Sunny Cove Kayaking - Adventure Center in Seward, Alaska offers a unique way to explore the glaciers and marine wildlife of the area. Renting a kayak allows for an up-close and personal experience while enjoying the solitude of an Alaskan vacation. For those new to kayaking, professional tours are available.
We had the most amazing experience with Sunny Cove Kayaking on the Resurrection Bay excursion! From start to finish, everything was seamless and memorable. We were picked up right on time from the train station by a lovely driver who gave us fun and interesting facts about Seward on the way—such a thoughtful touch. Once we arrived, our guides were absolutely top-notch—knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and just the right mix of cool and funny. They made us feel completely at ease on the water and added so much to the overall experience. The scenery was stunning—glassy waters, towering mountains, and wildlife that made it feel like we were paddling through a postcard. We couldn’t have asked for a better adventure in Alaska. Highly recommend Sunny Cove Kayaking to anyone visiting Seward!

We had an amazing time with the crew of Sunny Cove Kayaking and Seward Coastal charters. We did the boat/kayak tour to Holgate glacier which was nothing short of spectacular. Maggie and Amelia were fantastic kayak guides and Matthew was super knowledgeable about all of the wildlife we experienced along the way particularly the birds (definitely an enthusiast!) and our Captain, Brent had a super keen eye for spotting and finding amazing wildlife, including fin whales, porpoises, goats, humpbacks. This trip had it all. It was not a cheap excursion but I don’t know how you could pack much more awesome in a day
Jeff B — Google review
We did the Fox Island kayak adventure in June. Kayaking has always been a favorite excursion of ours whenever we travel and this trip was no exception. Our tour guides Drew and Maggie were fantastic and by kayaking it really allowed us to feel immersed in the beautiful Alaska scenery. Fox Island is a beautiful location that not many people get to visit so we felt special for having the opportunity to explore it's coasts. We saw harbor porpoise and even a puffin! Our only critique was the Resurrection Bay tour on the back half of the day. It was a bit too family friendly for the adventurous day we were looking to have. We would have much rather just have been brought straight back to Seward post kayaking, but not sure if that would be logistically possible. That said, they kayaking portion still made the whole day worth it.

I did the Tonsina Point kayak/hike tour. My guide was Drew & she was incredible! We had a great time on the water & on a little hike; saw lots of sea otters, river otters, salmon during their run, a porpoise, eagles; & we foraged for blueberries, salmon berries, and mushrooms!!!! She kept us warm and well nourished and was a delightful guide and pal. The day flew by too quickly. Thanks Drew!
Alexa B — Google review
My husband and I cannot recommend Sunny Cove enough! Especially our guide, Drew! We ended up essentially having a one-on-one experience kayaking around Fox Island because we were the only ones to sign up that day and we couldn’t have been partnered with a better guide around the island. For someone who has only been on the job for around 4 months, she was SO knowledgeable about all of the different wildlife in the bay and made sure to point out everything she could! We had an absolute blast just chatting it up with her as well, she’s just the sweetest! 10/10 would book with Sunny Cove again and cross our fingers that we got Drew again!

We had a beautiful trip Kayaking in front of Holgate Glacier, and it was only possible because of the amazing crew! Our guide Zeke, Matt, and Captain Brent were knowledgable and dedicated, and made the entire experience one we will cherish forever. From welcoming us on board, showing us the beautiful landscapes and thrilling whales and other wildlife, to the well-equipped kayaks, and providing us snacks and lunch, everything was truly thought out and taken care of. They even went out of their way to help my husband surprise me for my birthday, and I am so glad to say I was able to celebrate my birthday in front of a glacier! This is a once in a lifetime experience, and the team at Sunny Cove Kayaking is who you want to go with for this adventure! Thank you to the entire team again!

Alaska Railroad Corporation

4.8
(285)
Railroad company
The Alaska Railroad Corporation, serving as the southern terminus in Seward, holds a rich history dating back to the early fur trade era. The train ride from Anchorage to Seward offers breathtaking scenery and an option for Gold Star service with amenities like open-air cars and complimentary meals. Passengers praise the friendly staff, comfortable seats, and captivating commentary during the journey. Many travelers find the Gold Star tickets well worth it for an unforgettable experience amidst stunning Alaskan landscapes.
Our family visited Alaska in July 2024, and took the Denali Star train with Goldstar service (glass dome car, meals and drinks included) to travel from Anchorage to Denali and back again a few days later. I wholeheartedly agree with other reviewers and online travel blogs that this is a big splurge worth making if you’re probably only going to travel here once. The train was hands-down the highlight of our entire trip, for both the grown ups and the kids (6 and 8). It’s a long journey (8 hours each way by train, vs about 6 hours by car), but it doesn’t feel like it. The meal service breaks things up (and was delicious), and the views get increasingly spectacular the further north you go. We spent a lot of time on the outdoor viewing deck and enjoyed the periodic guide commentary on interesting things to see (including occasional wildlife). The guides for part of the trip are high schoolers in a summer program, but we didn’t find this out until later, and you would never know it as they did such a professional job. The bartenders on the trip were also great, and happily indulged my kids with occasional cups of maraschino cherries and whipped cream, much to my chagrin!! I highly recommend the Denali Star train to anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime Alaska experience. It is expensive, but we found it to be worth every penny.

Took the PM train from Seward to Anchorage. Comfortable seats, beautiful views. Someone in our group had already ridden the train a different day and said that the person providing info on the scenery was better on the previous trip. It felt fancy to have drinks and dinner on the train. Salad, entree, dessert and 2 cocktails were included with the ticket. The open air car allowed you to stand outside and get unobstructed views- it was really cool. Overall an expensive ride but worth doing at least once.

Second visit after 9 years. Alaska Railroad does not disappoint. Spend the extra for the goldstar packages if you can. Either way, some of the most scenic views in the world.....and yes...even if it's raining.

Best decision of the trip. This experience was amazing and the gold star tickets are well worth the cost. I'll be honest I spent 70% of the train ride on the balcony. The photos are just 20 of over 150 taken on the train ride.

The train ride from Anchorage to Seward has some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. The Gold Star service on board was great it's definitely worth the price to upgrade. I didn't have to worry about meal or drink for the journey since everything was provided. The open air car is one of the main reasons to choose the gold star service. Being able to smell and feel the crisp Alaskan air for as long as you want was worth it for me. The food was much better than I anticipated and had a good selection. Taking the train is a must if you are looking to see some Alaskan scenery without the hassle of driving.

Visitors can rent kayaks with all necessary equipment from Adventure Sixty North at the park. Additionally, Miller's Landing offers full-day multi-species charters for fishing enthusiasts.
We did a combined morning kayak and half day fishing trips. Both are wonderful. Guides are fantastic. Highly recommend them. Really nice and helpful people. The kayak tour to bridal fall was so nice. My girls never fished before and they all caught good size salmon. Wonderful experience for the family.

Beautiful spot! Parked at their waterfront camper spots and enjoyed the scenery for a few days. There are some great hikes near by, their cafe serves a killer fish&chips. It’s a good vibe and a well ran place! Highly recommend going on a fishing charter. I had a blast and will be eating freshly caught fish for weeks 😋

Visited Miller's Landing from 9 to12 August 2025: Captain's Cabin Accommodation and Captain's Choice Kayaking. kayaking: With Emma as our guide we kayaked the Northwestern Fjord leading to the the Northwestern Glacier. Emma did a fantastic job keeping us safe and showing us the lay of the land and water. From humpback whales, seals, puffins, and the groaning of the glacier slowly grinding its way to the sea, we saw and heard it all. Thank you Emma. And thank you for sharing the link with pictures from the day. Captain's Cabin: Well. Let's just say the Captain's Cabin was Rustic. Very Simple. Basic needs met. Had interesting neighbors

We did a full day glacier kayaking tour last summer. It was the most expensive activity in our entire Alaska adventure. We saw beautiful nature and I have no doubt the guides were working hard, however- there was not an appropriate gear check in before leaving. My travel buddy and I are experienced outdoors women, but we opted to pay $$$ to have guides take us into areas where we are unfamiliar- sea kayaking. On their website they say that they have everything you need for your tour. When we left, there was not a single mention of clothing. No one checked our set ups to see if we were adequately prepared. One family in our group was decked out in denim, and my adventure partner had a down jacket and didn’t realize how poorly that would perform. When we arrived on time, we waited without anyone checking in with us. Plenty of people were around and seemed busy, but no one approached or filled us in on what was going on until eventually my friend had to go ask what was happening. As the day progressed, my friend started to become hypothermic, to the point where she was crying and in a lot of pain. She was truly scared. The guides offered her their ONE extra layer, which was thankfully enough for her. The mom of the other family told us that her sons asked her if they were going to die. Luckily, this family was extremely tough and NEVER complained and got through it unscathed, but the outcome could’ve been very different with a different family. When we got closer to the glacier, we then realized we couldn’t get very close because of the wind coming off and the risk of ice calving off. Then a BOAT with a motor went right past us and got up super close to the glacier. We were stunned. Definitely should’ve taken that boat and paid a fraction of the price. Also, the boat did not slow down at all to look at puffins or wildlife in either direction. The boat driver seemed pretty weathered and borderline annoyed to be ferrying us to the kayak put in. All in all, it was a not a great operation and we were pretty disappointed. 2/5 stars because I do think the guides were trying pretty hard but were not set up for success. Would not repeat.

We stayed at the Birch cabin on Miller's Landing and it was perfect. The cabin was clean and blankets were provided(also clean). The restrooms and shower - well maintained - were on the main building other side of the road and easy to access. The location is to die for, we saw 2 bald eagles and river otters as we were leaving!

We did a full day fishing charter. Our family group of 4 had so much fun and we caught lots of fish. What really made the trip fun was the incredible deck hands, both Owen and Logan. Super friendly, energetic and hard working especially with all of us who seldom going fishing.was amazing from start to finish. We caught silver salmon, halibut and rockfish. Logan and Owen love their jobs! We will definitely use them again on our next trip. Maybe very shortly, again. From the May family.

Cabin in poor repair, had a loose fixture that banged on the outside of the cabin, kept us up all night. Not a good experience for my little girl's birthday weekend. Left us all exhausted the next day when we had fun activities planned. Informed Miller's Landing and received back the equivalent of "That sucks, we'll let someone know so they can fix it". Not the level of service one would expect spending nearly $600 for a one night stay.

I have worked with Miller's landing for both work and play reasons and absolutely loved it every time! I've had couples book their water taxi for weddings and photoshoots in Thumb Cove and Fox Island and beyond, I've stayed in their dry cabins (The Viking Seaside) and at their camp sites, and I've done a kayaking tour and a Fourth of July Kayaking tour turned water taxi due to weather. Every single time they've been so kind, easy to work with, and just all around awesome! Highly recommend them if you'll be in Seward and want a fun adventure or a very Alaskan place to stay!

Tidewater Taphouse is a must-visit dining spot in Seward, offering stunning views of the marina that enhance your culinary experience. This locally owned American restaurant specializes in delicious pub fare and fresh Alaskan seafood, featuring an impressive selection of 16 craft beers on tap from small local breweries. The vibrant atmosphere is perfect for unwinding before or after your cruise, with its quirky decor and lively music creating a welcoming vibe.
Had no idea this place existed until today. With that said, if you're visiting seward this is a must stop place to be. The music choice is good overall, the staff was beyond kind, and the food. The food was above and beyond, absolutely delicious crab dip, burger and bulgogi. Overall this is a place I would love to come back to again and again.

This is a very cozy and inviting place! Food was great. Cocktails were creative and delicious. We went around 8pm and had about 20min wait, which was not bad. A talented local artist was performing there. The volume was just right. We were able to enjoy the music and had conversations at the same time. A must stop when visiting Seward!

Here in Seward AK, the other restaurants are overpriced tourists traps. This place is not! Fabulous brews, outstanding food and good service in a very cool nautical/ocean theme with very reasonable prices for what you get. We will be back!

We had such a great time at Tidewater Taphouse! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The beer flight was a great way to sample local brews (highly recommend doing that!), and every pour was crisp and refreshing. What really stood out was the atmosphere: warm, welcoming, and laid-back, with friendly staff and a cozy vibe that made us want to stay longer. Whether you're coming off an excursion or just looking for a place to relax, Tidewater is a must-visit while in Seward. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!

When you are near the end of the earth, in a remote town, surrounded by snow-capped mountain peaks and glaciers, you can't set a super high expectation for food and service. So when a local place delivers, over delivers even, it's a real treat. We were sat immediately at 7:15 on a Thursday evening. The service was on point, prompt, friendly and helpful. The setting is great with both indoor, outdoor, and loft seating. Last, and certainly not least, the food shined. Everything was delicious and they had some creative options. We aren't drinkers and they even offered some delicious mocktails. Whenever I come back to Seward, I'm coming back here for sure!

Tidewater Taphouse in Seward was recommended to us by our tour guide and so glad we went. Long wait to get a table which is always a good sign, but was lucky to snag two seats upstairs at the bar. Bartender was very friendly and the burger and tots were very good!!! Nice place!!!

Just stopped in to try some different beers. Beer selection was great and the tot appetizer was a perfect match for the beer. We didn’t order any other food, but we got a look at the desserts, which looked delicious. Also, there’s a great, dog friendly patio in back!! Service was good and friendly!

When you find yourself in Seward, a visit to Harbor Street Creamery is an absolute must, especially on those sunny days. This charming ice cream shop exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot to indulge your sweet tooth. With an impressive variety of treats including shakes, malts, soft serve, sundaes, and scoops served in cones, there's something for everyone. The topping selection is simply delightful!
The service was very friendly and attentive. The staff was lovely and helped us pick our flavors. The ice cream was so creamy and all four flavors that we got were so good! The standouts were the moose tracks and cherry

Easy walk in the main area of town in Seward where cruise ships come in and day tours for various things go out. We didn't enjoy as much as Sweet Darlings but this place served a butterscotch latte, called a Butter Baby, so that scored some points with my wife. We tried the following flavors and they were all great: huckleberry, mountain blackberrry and bubblegum. Good service, can't go wrong getting ice cream here.

Delicious! Staff were friendly and patient. Most likely others are complaining about them having limits on samples, and expectations for how their space is treated... You have to imagine what they see from tourists, and respect their standards. If you love agitato like me, get it with the Kona coffee ice cream!

The owner came across as rude, but the staff were polite and helpful. There are plenty of ice cream options to pick from. I really enjoyed the flavor of my peanut butter chocolate malt milkshake, though the peanut butter cups were overly sweet. The drink packed a serious sugar punch! The "Death by Chocolate" ice cream flavor was pretty decent.

Thai restaurant
Restaurant
Located in Seward, Alaska, Woody's Thai Kitchen is a vibrant and laid-back cafe that offers traditional Thai dishes with a local twist. Named after the beloved Steller sea lion, Woody's showcases authentic Thai cuisine featuring Bangkok-style curries, soups, noodles, and rice dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients. The restaurant is known for its surprisingly sweet and savory flavors, offering a refreshing alternative to the abundance of seafood in the area.
Wow amazing Thai food in Seward. Good news is there was a vegan menu itself. We took a green curry, vegetable fried rice, Ginger stir fry. We underestimated the spice level, we ordered 3 spice level on a scale of 5 and it was spicy!!. Quantity of food is more (aligned with rates 😃) But the taste was very good. Fresh food. Overall great experience. Highly recommend. It gets busier in the evening.

We were pleasantly surprised to find so many vegetarian options at Woody Thai Kitchen in Seward — and even more surprised by how amazing everything tasted! We ordered the Panga Curry, Pineapple Fried Rice, and kids’ noodles, and every dish was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The taste was far above average — absolutely delicious 🤤. Prices seemed a bit high at first, but the portions are huge, so it’s actually great value. No wonder this place is so popular — it totally deserves the hype! A must-visit for Thai food lovers, especially if you’re vegetarian
Abhishek G — Google review
Good Thai food. Portions are larger sized but apt for the high prices. Service was good, friendly but slow. It took us close to an hour to get our food, although there wasn’t any wait time to get a table. They had a separate vegan menu, which was nice to see. Would recommend this place while you are here in Seward and craving some delicious food!
Alisha K — Google review
Really tasty Thai cuisine! I got the chicken pad thai and appreciated that I could customize the spiciness level (I got level 5- the most spicy). The food has a nice kick and the portion size was large. Perfect for anyone who is looking for a big meal to fill up on after a long day of activity. I'd happily come back and it's definitely worth a try if you are craving Thai!
Bailey J — Google review
Our Airbnb host recommended Woody’s. It was excellent! Portions are large and more than enough for a couple to share (if you can agree on a menu item;-) ). Was a busy time but the staff and kitchen staff were extremely efficient and we received or order in a timely matter. We definitely recommend!
Todd C — Google review
The atmosphere was very nice. The spring rolls were tasty and crunchy. However, make sure to check if dishes are spicy before you order. Many of the dishes are quite spicy or sweet. Pretty good overall though.

I’ve been to this Thai restaurant in Seward twice now, and both times it was packed, which says a lot! It’s clearly a local favorite, and for good reason. I tried both the Panang and Red Curries, and they were absolutely fantastic. I like a good kick, so I went with spice level 4, and it hit the perfect balance—hot enough to satisfy but not overwhelming. The Drunken Noodles were just as amazing—bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and cooked just right. What really stood out was how helpful the staff were. They made great recommendations and took time to explain the dishes and spice levels. That kind of service goes a long way, especially in a busy spot. On top of that, the prices were very fair—something that’s hard to come by in Seward, where restaurants are usually pretty expensive. Highly recommend if you’re looking for flavorful, authentic Thai food with great service and solid value.

Zudy's Cafe is a delightful eatery located near Sewards SeaLife Center. Their motto "Take Time for Cake Time" reflects their focus on serving delicious treats and some of the best cakes in town. Specializing in various cheesecakes, classic carrot cake, Key lime pie, and mud pie, they also offer assorted dessert bars. The cafe transitions from breakfast to lunch at 11 am, offering sandwiches and hot paninis for lunch.
Fabulous café! Went there for breakfast both mornings that we were in Seward. Breakfast menu was limited, but the food was high-quality and good value. Lunch menu is more expensive. Excellent cappuccinos and lattes. Ambience perfect - Cozy and beautiful. Location cannot be beat on the bay. Be sure to walk the Sea Otter trail along Resurrection Bay right outside before AND after your meal!

Great chowder and coffee. Cute seating area outside with nice views. We got the pastrami sandwich, it was good but in hindsight I wish we had it as a panini since it was a bit drier than I wanted it to be. Both ladies taking my order weren’t that warm when ordering. My coffee gal just spilled my double espresso and gave me a glass full of spilled coffee, it was kinda weird.

Wow! What a find? So glad we decided to come here from lunch. Their paninis and sandwiches are very tasty. The staff is super nice and the food came out quick!

Came here for a cup of coffee and ended up talking to a local couple for a little while. Their coffee, carrot cake and strawberry bar were excellent and listening to people everthing else was just as good. The staff was very busy but still friendly. And the locals said that they were very good friends with the owners. I love coming to these "little" local shops and giving my money to them. They also seem to always have the best food and drinks. We will be back and I can't wait.

I was shocked by the price vs food received. My dish included 1/4 of a strawberry and 1/2 of reindeer sausage filleted to appear larger and 2 paper thin pieces of toast. I understand this is a touristy area but it was absolutely bonkers how expensive this was for the amount of food. $12 for a slice of cake $20+ for a small breakfast plate Also, they ask for tip.. however you order at the counter and get your own utensils and water. You also seat yourself. I will say that the ambiance is nice.

A cozy, artsy cafe with a beautiful view of the water/mountains! The staff were super nice/sweet. Our food was ready before we were done looking through their local art (Kelly Leonard’s work is pictured)! I had the Greenie and it was light and fresh. I also had their duffin- very dense and paired well with my latte!

It was a perfect stop after the Alaska SeaLife Center. I couldn’t have asked for a more picture perfect day. Gorgeous views. I thought about sitting outside, but the inside of this cafe is so cozy & quaint having been the old train depot. Feels like you’re stepping back in time…in a good way. The barista was pleasant. My cappuccino was delicious and I had the BEST blueberry scone of my life. Next time I’m in Seward, this is a MUST visit! Thank you ☕️

Our family recently traveled to Alaska on vacation. I reached out to Zudy's in advance to see if they could help me out in the dessert department to celebrate our son's 10th birthday. They arranged a sampling of desserts for him and communicated with me in advance. The food was truly delicious! My husband and I enjoyed the Xtratuff sandwich and chowder. I highly recommend both and will say that the chowder was the best I had while in Alaska. If you are a soup and sandwich person- this is the place for you! My kiddos shared a BLT off the regular menu, although they do offer a kid's menu as well. The desserts were great! The cake was delightful and it was so nice to be able to enjoy cake on my son's birthday even away from home. Thanks for the wonderful experience, Zudy's!

The tour includes a thrilling ride on a sled or wheeled cart, allowing guests to witness the power of these amazing dogs against the backdrop of majestic mountain ranges and stunning coastline.
Great excursion. Sadie & Noah were great host. They explained the sled dogs, the race, and so much more. They are young but very knowledgeable. Their pi turns are the last two

We had a great time. Daryl was our guide and was an enthusiastic ambassador for Alaska, Seward and mushing. We had a nice short ride with our 16 dog pack who were extremely anxious for us to get going. We then met the dogs and a young litter of pups. We were educated on mushing and the Ididerod. We then hiked out to Exit Glacier which was an easy hike for healthy legs and a beautiful sight to log into my memory cache.

Absolutely loved every second of this experience! The staff was incredible—so kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. You can tell the dogs are living their best lives—happy, healthy, and so excited to run and meet everyone! It’s not just a tour, it’s a full-on Alaskan adventure. From learning about the Iditarod legacy to riding with these amazing pups, it was unforgettable. Huge respect to the Seavey team for creating something so fun, educational, and full of heart. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Seward—this is a must-do!

We loved our experience at IdidaRide! Micah (not sure if I spelled that right) was an awesome musher- provided tons of knowledge and was very passionate about these dogs. They provided a video of us mushing AND a bunch of photos, which I loved. Plus the puppies!!!! They were only 3 days old and the cutest babies I’ve ever seen. All the dogs were such good boys and adorable. Very cool to learn about mushing!

Neat little experience just outside of Seward. I'd recommend this tour if you're interested in dog-sledding or the history of the Iditarod race. Tour includes a 1.25 miles ride on a wheeled cart through the forest. Our musher, Noah, was very helpful with any questions. Upon returning to the kennel we got to say hello to the dogs and even got to hold some puppies! The tour guide Caitlyn was really knowledgeable and showed us how the dogs and mushers and dressed during the race.

We visited Seavey's last week as part of our one week inland tour of Alaska. We learned a lot about the dogs and what it takes to get them ready for the Iditarod and how grueling that is for both the dogs and the musher. The dogs were so friendly and receptive to us strangers. Of course, we all loved holding the puppies too.

Seafood restaurant
Resurrection Roadhouse is a seasonal lodge restaurant located at Seward Windsong Lodge, offering a menu specializing in wild-caught Alaskan seafood, burgers, and pizza. The restaurant has gained a loyal local following for its great food and stunning views of the Resurrection River and surrounding mountains. Guests can choose to dine inside or on the deck while enjoying sunlight until late at night. The establishment offers locally sourced food and features multiple Alaska-brewed beers on tap.
FOR THE 2025 SEASON: This restaurant is seasonal and recently reopened for the year. My wife and I came here for dinner and overall enjoyed our meal. We gave the restaurant a bit more grace than usual for a few reasons it had just reopened, and much of the staff appeared to be new. Service: We were seated by a hostess in a section with about 15 tables, only four of which were occupied. There seemed to be three servers assigned to this area. However, after being seated, we weren’t approached by anyone for nearly 10 minutes. Several servers walked past us repeatedly without so much as an acknowledgment not even a “someone will be with you shortly.” It felt like we were invisible. Oddly enough, the restaurant seemed overstaffed, and the servers appeared to be looking for something to do, just not helping us. Fortunately, once a server did come by, things improved significantly from there. Food: Kelp & Artichoke Dip Alaska Salmon Surf & Turf (10oz Sirloin with Shrimp) The food was actually pretty good. I always try to keep a few things in mind while in Seward; that being, we’re in Seward, Alaska, a small town that thrives on seasonal tourism. I’m not expecting a Michelin Star experience, just a solid meal after a day of exploring. With that context, the food met our expectations and we left full and happy.

Resurrection Roadhouse is a conveniently located restaurant within the Windsong Lodge area. The menu is somewhat limited for lunch and dinner, but the food was delicious! There is also a wonderful menu of drinks. We had a delicious dinner with very tasty dessert. The waiter staff is friendly and service is very prompt. The cherry on the top is spectacular view of the snow capped mountains! If it is warm enough, I would definitely recommend sitting at the outdoor patio!

Our server did his best to give us a good experience, but there was a massive delay from the kitchen. We arrived for an early dinner at five thirty p m., successfully ordered starters, and then proceeded to wait. As the tables around us filled in with newly arriving guests who also ordered, received their food, sat around for a while, ordered dessert, received their dessert, paid their checks, and left, we continue to wait for our entrees. The server professionally and apologetically came by every ten minutes or so to either profusely apologize for the delay and assure us that our food was being plated and should be out within minutes. 90 minutes after ordering, our entrees came out, and the surf and turf was stone cold. I hated to send it back because I would actually wanted to eat dinner sometime before breakfast, but I didn't feel like eating cold grilled meat with congealed mushroom and onion glaze. Another 30 minutes later, I finally received my food, long after the other members of my family had finished their meals. Sadly, we observed the same occurrence happening to another couple with a child seated at the table next to us and saw our poor server making the rounds to apologize to other tables nearby. Meanwhile, the additional condiments that my family members who did receive hot food had requested never arrived. Aside from that, if all you want is ice water, they have a plentiful, delicious supply of it, and the refills are very prompt and timely. The bread starter was a non-starter, and the halibut and chips had potential but when it arrived it looked like about half of the portion was missing.
Toni O — Google review
Overall, this is a great restaurant, but it’s a bit pricey. We had to wait 40 min for a table of 6 and then 64 min to get our food. I wasn’t impressed by that but the food was really good.
Joey R — Google review
Food was good but the views are spectacular. Good selection of AK beers. Prices are less than comparable restaurants in town and the food reflects that, but not in a bad way. Good value for money, excellent staff and the views are awesome.
Justin S — Google review
This restaurant has the potential to be one of the best in town. Its quiet location, appealing ambiance, and excellent views provide a great foundation. Unfortunately, a lack of consistency and what appears to be a deceptive fee structure are significantly holding it back. The primary issue is a persistent inconsistency in service and food preparation. Small but critical details are frequently missed, including incorrect salad dressings, failure to accommodate cheese preferences, and serving food at the wrong temperature. These errors, combined with discrepancies between menu prices and the final bill, suggest a lack of attention to detail that is unacceptable for a fine dining establishment. A recent experience also raised concerns about a hidden charge. I was charged a "remote destination fee," which the server vaguely explained as being related to trucking in supplies. When I identified myself as a local, I was treated with suspicion, giving me the impression that this fee is a way to unfairly charge tourists. This practice is particularly disappointing given the amount of business I have personally directed to the restaurant through my work in the local tourism industry. A high-end restaurant cannot afford to get the details wrong, tack on hidden fees, and expect to succeed long-term. I hope management addresses these issues to ensure the restaurant lives up to its full potential and maintains a positive reputation within the community.

Wonderful restaurant with some outstanding service. They had a decent non-alcoholic menu, and a truly extensive beer and wine list. The crab cakes were spectacular (and gluten free!), and I don't think I've ever had such fresh, crispy (yet still oh-so-soft) halibut. Truly delightful.

Experience the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska's Kenai Fjords National Park with AA Seward Air Tours. This bush plane company offers scenic flightseeing tours to four different glaciers, with the option for a glacier landing on Harding Icefield. The small group tours provide an intimate adventure and a rare opportunity to witness the stunning beauty from above. Customers have praised the fantastic pilot, Joey, who ensures a comfortable and enjoyable experience, even spotting wildlife like black bears and bull moose during the tour.
While visiting Seward, AK, my wife and I flew with AA Seward Air Tours on their Bear Glacier scenic flight. They advertise this trip as “Incredible” but that may be an understatement. It was more than incredible. AA Seward Air Tours is a small, family business that provides a very personal experience. Joey who runs the business and flys the tours gives a great commentary and explanation of what you are viewing. As a retired Delta Air Lines Captain, I can say Joey is a very safe, competent pilot and extremely professional. If you are in the Seward area please do not miss a chance to fly with Joey on this amazing tour. Flying over the Bear Glacier and the Harding Ice Field is just otherworldly.

We did the Aialik glacier landing flight and to echo what everyone else has said, it was truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I almost chickened out right before the flight, but I’m so glad I didn’t. I felt totally safe the entire time and I can’t imagine having missed out on this experience. Getting to chat with Joey and learning about the area from him was a treat - one of the many bonuses of supporting a local family business. If you can only do one adventure during your time in Seward, make it this one. (But if you can do more than one, do this and a kayaking trip to bear glacier with liquid adventures - it was so cool to see the glacier lagoon from both angles). I’d also recommend scheduling your flight early in your trip in case they need to reschedule due to weather (this happened with our flight which underscored their commitment to safety and we ended up flying on our last day in Seward). Book the flight and don’t look back!!! 100000% worth it

Joey was fantastic! My first time to Alaska and my first time in a Cessna and it did not disappoint! Joey and team were accommodating when scheduling our flight around other travel plans and day of was super smooth. Landing on a glacier was a wonderful experience but the real highlight was just enjoying the views during our flight and getting to hear about the Seward area and glaciers. I would highly recommend booking with this company- specifically the Aialik Glacier Scenic flight and Glacier Landing.

Absolutely stunning! We did the scenic ride with the bear glacier landing and it was breath taking. The pilot likely took our Christmas card photo! The plane is small but thanks to the incredible staff and pilot we felt safe the whole flight. We saw wildlife, the beautiful glacier, and all around Seward! We would recommend this trip again and again! A special shout out to Cessi the pre flight pup!

Awesome experience!! We did the Bear Glacier tour and had a great time. Joey is a really good pilot and got us right up close to the glacier, icebergs, and wildlife including mountain goats. Highly recommend!!
Ryan P — Google review
This flight tour is highly recommended! Joey is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and took us to see several glaciers, spot bears catching fish, and discover a stunning emerald-green lake. It was absolutely beautiful and an unforgettable experience.

This tour was top notch !! Joey runs a very updated skywagon taildragger that’s very dependable and super safe!! He’s done this so many times and it’s obvious when you’re cruising around as he knows all the cool routes in and around the canyons, passes and glaciers! We saw 3 separate glacier calvings and a grizzly eating salmon in a little creek!! You’ll have the time of your life!! Guaranteed!!!! Obviously as long as the weather cooperates!! Thanks a million Joey!!!

We had a great time! You get to see amazing views and land on the glacier - so cool. The pilot was super kind and we felt safe the whole time. Cessi was pretty cool too!

Liquid Adventures offers kayaking and stand-up paddling tours with a focus on conservation and sustainable tourism. They also offer fishing packages for sporty fishing enthusiasts.
We had a blast kayaking through the ice bergs off of Bear Glacier, and Liquid Adventures were awesome, so happy we booked with them for this adventure. Alex and James were an amazing duo guide and boat pilot. They both were incredibly professional and friendly. They were tremendous guides who were fun, and made sure the whole group was enjoying itself. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

Unforgettable experience with some of Alaska’s most incredible wildlife! Our guide Anna and Captain Ryan were fantastic—they gave our family a memory we’ll treasure for a lifetime. We saw countless puffins on the way out and then had the surreal experience of kayaking beside a glacier. The grand finale? Watching humpback whales bubble-net feeding right in front of us. The included lunch was delicious, and the homemade brownies were a perfect touch. Don’t hesitate—book this tour now!

Our kayaking trip to Bear Glacier was AMAZING!! Our guides Kristen & Nora were so knowledgeable and kind. They took lots of pictures of us & even offered brownies and hot chocolate. We had plenty of time to kayak, take pictures, and take in the amazing views. Thank you liquid adventures for a great trip.

Liquid adventures was an incredible tour company. We'd rank the #1 activity to do in Seward, Alaska is the Bear Glacier Kayak Tour with Liquid Adventures. We were in a small, 6-person group that had the entire glacier and icebergs to ourselves. We felt like we were on a different planet! I don't know many places in the world where you can have such a unique experience in nature. Kristen, our guide, was patient, knowledgeable, and talented. One set of people in our group were not the strongest kayakers and she navigated the gaps in kayaking skill effortlessly. I would say it'd be helpful to have kayaked before if going on this trip. While it is not a requirement, it'd make it much more enjoyable. Overall, I cannot recommend the Bear Glacier Kayak Tour by Liquid Adventures more highly. A wonderful "must-do" activity!
Mary G — Google review
Vacillating between a boat or kayak trip we opted for kayaking despite the overcast skies. In the end, we chose right. Given that September’s weather can be sketchy we didn’t want to make a reservation. Jaxson, our guide was friendly and low key. We took a boat to Bear glacier which took about 45 minutes. From there we geared up for paddling and were in the boats headed for the glacier. We paddled in and out of icebergs. Along the way, we saw porpoises, harbor seals, bald eagles, puffins and mountain goats. This is definitely a winner especially if you like being up close and personal with nature.

A MUST DO!!!! Absolutely loved it. My Dad, son and I did the Emerald Coast Trip. We were super lucky to have James as our guide, he was amazing. He taught us so much and was great with my son talking to him and answer every question. We had a porpoise swim up next to us!!! I can’t recommend Liquid Adventures enough. Also the boat ride out and back was great.

We had an unforgettable experience with Liquid Adventures on the 6-hour glacier kayaking trip! Our guide, Quinn, was fantastic—super personable, knowledgeable, and made sure we got the full experience, tailoring the pace to our group's skill. He answered all of our questions and shared his expertise and in all things glacier. The stunning scenery and smooth organization made this a truly special outing. Shoutout also to Captain Derek who is also very personable yet professional and highly skilled in navigating the boat. I would definitely recommend packing snacks & water (although no bathroom is available) and bringing sunglasses, hat with a brim (to keep rain out), a winter hat, and several layers for under the dry suit as it did get cold. Wool socks are definitely worth it! Highly recommend this tour if you're looking for an adventure that combines stunning nature with top-notch expertise.

We went on a liquid adventure Kayak tour in the Bear Glacier Lagoon. Our guide Sophia was amazing. She made sure that everyone was safe and brought out hot chocolate and brownies for everyone. Liquid adventure also had dry suits for everyone and I felt warm and dry the whole trip. Lastly, the tour boat captain James got us safely to the lagoon and back in the company jet boat. Would highly recommend!

Sandwich shop
Subway is a popular and casual counter-serve chain for build-your-own sandwiches and salads. The sandwiches and salads here are made with fresh ingredients, and many of the health-conscious options are also available. The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff is friendly.
In town for work and felt like picking up a sandwich at Subway. Walked in and was greeted by the staff at the counter. Ordered a footlong turkey sandwich. The staff were friendly and the sandwich was good. Would come back to this shop again in the future.
Jason W — Google review
The staff was absolutely disrespectful and had disgusting customer service. I asked about an online order and the person that I spoke with was rude and short. When I told them that there was no need for the attitude they told me to “shut up” and hung up the phone. This is incredibly frustrating since I have never had a bad experience with subway. I’m not sure if the person I spoke with likes their job or not but as someone who has worked in retail and handled customers for a while, I don’t think people that lack respect need to be in a workplace environment like this, let alone food management.
Heaven S — Google review
Decent Subway location. The immigrant staff was friendly and helpful. The manager, however, had an awful attitude. I’m only a visitor, so I won’t be back, but if I was a local, there is no way I’d visit this location again just because of her.
Joey R — Google review
Currently (and for the past month or so) Subway has been understaffed. There are only 4 people who work the shop, 2 of which are there between the hours 9 am to 8 pm. They are there 9-10+ hours, 6-7 days of the week (they are lucky to get a day off). Anyone who has a working brain should understand why the workers may be in a bad mood or short tempered. If you're too white or privileged to understand that info, then you are a waste of space and need to learn how to make your own food. Don't come here if you're expecting a fine dining experience, it's the ONLY "fast-food" in town, there are other actual restaurants in town worth going to if you're wanting a good dining experience in Seward. P.S. ... if you came here to leave a one star review because your privilege got checked by an employee, here's some words of advice... learn to make your own sandwich, simple as that. 👍
Winter Y — Google review
They were extremely skimpy on the meat, a 1/3 more expensive than the rest of alaska. The sandwich tasted funny. I politely explained the sandwich tasted funny, I wasn't asking for a refund, just saying hey something was wrong with our sandwich. The response was extremely rude. I will never eat at that subwayagain. It was a horrible experience.
Michael M — Google review
This manager is after a bonus and want to charge you as much as possible in the name of tourism. Definitely not a good subway. I would avoid this place and make this company see that we are not cash cow that they can milk for their profits.
James J — Google review
Best place for a squid sandwich! This being an Alaskan port town, go for it and try something different. The other sandwiches are great here as well, of course.

Seafood restaurant
Located just outside of Exit Glacier, the Exit Glacier Salmon Bake is a cozy restaurant and pub in Seward, Alaska. It offers a rustic dining experience with a log cabin setting and outdoor patio with mountain views. The menu features fresh Alaskan salmon, red snapper, steaks, burgers, and delicious seafood options. The restaurant also serves wine and Alaskan microbrews to complement the meals.
Went here for dinner this evening and did not get disappointed. We had the baked salmon and the seafood pasta and both was amazing. Also, the service was really good and we were allowed to sit at any table besides what has been written in the reviews before. Maybe they considered the feedback. It was just a little cold in there, but they turned on the heating when we said something. Cost: 76 dollar without tip for 2 meals and one beer.
Stephanie U — Google review
Overall decent experience here. Got the salmon bake, as it’s Seward and what they are apparently known for, and was disappointed. Definitely too dry and overall not very good salmon, especially for the price — it was fine and tasted good, but not what I was expecting in Alaska at this place! I would return but I would order something else — probably better at fried food or something here. Corn bread and chowder was great, atmosphere was cool, and service was good.
Annalese W — Google review
My family and I loved dining here! The kind crab was awesome. It’s just barely outside of the main downtown Seward area and worth checking out. We had a large group visiting Alaska for a wedding and several of us (in smaller groups) all made time to come eat here. It was cozy and homey and the food was great!! Who wouldn’t love king crab in Alaska :)
Heather G — Google review
My family was visiting my in-laws and we had spent the day on the Kenai Fjords Tours boat on Resurrection Bay. We stopped here afterwards for dinner. It was quite an experience. My wife and her dad loved the pickles out of the pickle barrel. We liked the decor. The food was good, just good, not the quality we expected for the price. For instance, some of us had the fish and chips with Halibut. Comparable price with Land's End in Homer (pricey) but night and day in quality (winner goes to Land's End). The tartar sauce it came with was bland and could be any brand. Those that had rice with their dishes said it was dry and bland. Nothing to write home about, except for the price. All that being said, we had a wonderful time. The staff and service was amazing. Overall, we liked it and would love to come back.
Nathan M — Google review
An amazing dinner was had at the Salmon Bake. Make a reservation! The wait wasn't all that bad, but make a reservation. The food was excellent. I had the Gulf Captain's platter and my wife the King Crab. FANTASTIC. The corn bread was really good. The root beer and the cobbler, SOOO GOOD!! Sorry, but our waitress was just average. Not 5 stars and no 1 star. She was just average. Even with that, I would still go back.
David N — Google review
We chose this place to eat from a recommendation given to us by a local worker at one of the adventure desks. The setting and the decor seemed so “ Alaskan” to us as we drove up and walked in. We went early (5:30ish) so we wouldn’t have to wait an hour or more like a couple places next to the docks. We were seated immediately, although it was full and busy when we left. Our server was bubbly and prompt and made our experience even better. I don’t typically care for salmon but was told fresh Alaskan salmon is unlike what we get back in Tennessee and Kentucky, so I gave it another try…WOW! How true..it was incredible and didn’t even need any sauce other than the seasoning from the kitchen. Then, equally as good if not better was the fresh halibut!!! Oh my! Possibly the best fish we have ever eaten, and we are a fish loving family! I highly recommend.
Mike M — Google review
I haven't had a meal like that in years. The atmosphere is the perfect blend of authentic alaska with a seafood restaurant twist. The service fast, friendly and fantastic. The seafood chowder was delicious as well as the crab cakes. The halibut fish and chips was the best ive ever had. The seafood pasta might be their best dish, my son loved it. The chocolate cake was unreal. The restaurants near the docks are ok if youre in a hurry, but Salmon Bake is minutes away and light years better. Thank you!

Cute little restaurant just a few miles before the entrance to Kenai fjords national park. After a short hike, in the park the nephew and I decided to stop by for dinner. He had the halibut with chips and I had the burger. They were both delichosu.

Bed & breakfast
Nestled in Seward, Alaska, Le Barn Appetit Inn & Creperie is a charming spot known for serving up some of the finest crepes in the area. The menu features a delightful array of options, from savory choices like creamed beef and spinach to sweet treats such as strawberries with Nutella and whipped cream. The proprietor is renowned for crafting exquisite French dinners for those who plan ahead, offering delectable dishes like quiche lorraine and chicken cordon bleu.
Every year we make a few trips to this adorable creperie. The location is so serene, and the owner also cooks the dish right in view of the dining room, what a wonderful experience. I’ve had many different crepes, as well as the Belgian waffle and everything is always DELICIOUS. Because of the setup, it can sometimes be a little bit of a wait to get your food, but it’s definitely worth it. Do yourself a favor and make a stop on the north side of Seward for breakfast.

A Hidden Local Gem – Warm, Homemade Crepe Experience Le Barn Appetit is a true local gem. It’s a tiny, cozy spot with just a few tables, and that’s exactly what makes it feel so special. The crepes are made to order right in front of you by the sweetest lady, which gives the whole experience a charming, personal touch. The waffles were also excellent — crisp and light with that homemade taste. What really stood out is how it felt like being welcomed into someone’s warm, inviting home for breakfast. Nothing felt commercial or rushed — just real, authentic, homemade cooking made with love. If you’re looking for a place that feels like a genuine kitchen where everything is prepared with pride, this is it. A must-visit if you’re in the area and want something heartfelt and delicious.

Best crepes I've ever had. Very thin, delicious and made with love. The owner herself made it in front of us. Sweetness was on point, we finished them in no time. Would definitely visit again in the future. The history of the place made it more special.

I would strongly recommend their crepes as they are some of the best I have ever had. This place has a wonderful history about how Janet started it, and the servers were friendly and polite. During my stay in Seward, I had breakfast here twice and tried both savory and dessert crepes, along with a waffle for my little one. Everything was delicious and I truly recommend it.

A real gem! Crepes were outstanding. Lots of different options, both sweet and savory. The owner is set up right in the middle making crepes and if you order a savory one you can watch it be made.

We stopped by for breakfast on a cold Sunday morning and we were pleasantly surprised with a warm family welcome & Legendary history and ambience not to mention a huge selection of loose leaf tea and every style crape imaginable custom made right in front of you by the owner Janet. Janet herself is a living local legend along with her husband! It's worth going just to meet her and to see her amazing family's history on the walls and shelves of this unique little gem of a delious charming place. Don't miss this spot!!

A hidden gem in Seward. The crepes are freshly made right in the dining room by the owner herself, a sweet and friendly lady. We tried one savory and one sweet, and both were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend stopping by!

I can not say enough positive words about this experience. It made such an impact that we chose to eat there twice during our 2-days in Seward. Great history, with one of the co-founders masterfully creating each crepe for every customers' order. Very engaging, friendly, and welcoming to clients from around the world. Charming interior. Tables on the covered porch offer stunning views of nearby mountains. We spotted Dahl sheep walking near the mountain's snow cap with binoculars, while eating lunch on the porch one day.

The Smoke Shack is a cozy eatery located inside an old train car near the harbor in Seward. It's a popular spot for breakfast and lunch, offering smoked meats, burgers, and southern comfort food. Visitors recommend trying the small rack of ribs or the pulled pork sandwich. The place has open seating around back and serves delicious homemade lemonades. Despite potentially long cook times, patrons agree that the wait is worth it for the amazing food.
I haven’t been here since 2017 and was disappointed to see indoor seating is no longer an option. But the food has remained at the high quality that I remember. These burritos are $15 but you definitely get $15 worth of food, and it’s awesome. Great views while you eat, and close to walk to your next stop.

This place was a very pleasant surprise. 😁 We were looking for a solid breakfast before we got onto a bus. The breakfast burrito was very tasty, I would order it again. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich and he enjoyed it also. We also ordered the Eazy Going which was a mixture of random things which tasted awesome together. I hope we can visit this place again.

Amazing food at the smokeshack - chilaquiles on special were amazing and the spicy pork sandwich was out of this world. Both had hefty portions too! The homefries were very nice and crispy, could have used just a touch more salt. Nice covered seating area out back and very friendly service.

Wowwwwww. We were in town and went twice because it was so good. You order at the window in the front and there is some open seating around back. First round, I got the veggie breakfast burrito - it was perfect. It was packed with filling, not leaky, tons of flavor. Second time we got lunch and I had the pulled pork BBQ. The whole sandwich plus the pickles and coleslaw was A+. Highly recommend the homemade lemonades. Worth it no matter what. Plus it’s in an old train car. Can you get more AK?!

Great Breakfast place in Seward! It was our go to breakfast spot for the time we were in Seward. Good portions on all menu items. Wonderful and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Hands down best breakfast I've had in Alaska and generally had in awhile. Everything tasted amazing and while the portions weren't huge, the food was dense making them feel far larger than they looked. Only issue I see is that cook times can take awhile - 30 mins to cook for our group of 6 - but let me assure you that the wait is well worth it. Do not miss this. Experience - 4 knocking a point off for wait times Offerings - 5 - A+ breakfast: burritos were huge, sandwiches were chock full of filing, grits were delectable and even the French toast was good! Value - 5 - prices are very reasonable and considering you're getting breakfast head and shoulders better than other places in the area this is a steal Pictured: breakfast sandwich with bacon and cheddar cheese

Hiking area
The Exit Glacier Trailhead offers a challenging yet rewarding hike through alpine meadows to an epic viewpoint above the glacier. The Harding Icefield trail continues to Marmot Meadows, offering stunning views of the glacier and the expansive Harding icefield. The trail features diverse landscapes, from thick forests and meadows to rocky terrains. Visitors can observe markers indicating the glacier's recession over the years before embarking on the hike.
Early May trip right after the road opened, so plenty of parking and not crowded. It was an easy hike that you can make more challenging if you want. It was incredible to see the loss over time and glacial melt. Definitely recommend, the drive there itself is amazing.
Nick M — Google review
Super easy trail that leads to the bottom of the glacier. There are a few signs that describe how glaciers are created and show how far out the glacier used to be. Awesome hike for beginners! The visitor center has a lot of information about the glacier as well as souvenirs.
Kat M — Google review
Great hike to the bottom of the glacier. Very easy, there are a few different easy paths, some out and back and also a large loop trail. You can walk out into the outwash plain which was very neat.
John R — Google review
Fantastic hike to the foot of the exit glacier. It is wild to see the plaques, as you hike closer, of where the glacier was in different years! The trail starts very flat until the last half a mile or so where you will have to climb a little. All of the overlooks are incredible and I recommend climbing closer to the river so clockwise! This trailhead can also lead you to the top of the Harding Icefield
Lukasz ( — Google review
Great attraction if you want to see a receding glacier. The trails are easy to hike. You can walk through the old path of exit glacier and see the rocks carved out from the ice. The visitor center is nice too. The roads in are a bit bumpy though so watch for that!
Ben A — Google review
Fun! If I’d properly researched i’d have made this an all day trip and done the 8 mile trail to get to the base of the glacier. Instead, I did not arrive until after a boat tour and sewer and opted for the one and a half mile hike. Half of it is paid but didn’t get to the good view. You need to be able to climb a little bit. My eight-year-old ran ahead and loved it
Katy F — Google review
I was here in 2005 and after hiking up to the glacier view, I was shocked there was no glacier close-up surface to see. Wow! How far it has receded! Also, when you were on the overwash field below, you could literally touch the foot of the glacier altho signs warned of danger. Glad I got to see it back then. It's a beautiful hike up with a couple rushing streams and rocky steps to climb. Most people in average to good shape can navigate, but may be abit challenging for older people or those who rarely hike. Definitely more of a reward years ago. I doubt if I'll ever be back as the glacier is making It's "exit" out of existence.

My family and I hiked the lower loop to view the glacier. It was an easy hike that was very accessible for toddlers ans seniors. The ranger station at the trailhead was well appointed with interactive exhibits, a nice gift shop and clean restrooms. The station was well staffed. My kids loved talking to the ranger about the skulls of various animals indigenous to Seward.

The Exit Glacier Nature Center serves as an informative hub for visitors, offering a bookstore and ranger assistance. During summer, ranger-led tours of the lower glacier depart from here regularly. The center is also a convenient starting point for exploring the network of trails that provide stunning views of Exit Glacier, which is the easternmost outlet of the Harding Icefield. While it may be closed during winter, visiting during other seasons allows hikers to witness markers indicating the glacier's historical extent and its subsequent retreat.
Awesome place to hike. You can choose from various trails that are different difficulty. Glacier was neat to see. Easy parking and signs.

Highly recommend the hike up to the glacier. The views are spectacular. The one-hour loop is easy, flat and partially paved. The two hour loop is not difficult at all and there are plenty of places to stop , sit and enjoy the views. And for avid hikers, there is the longer trail to the glacier. You can also get guided tours that will allow you to hike on the glacier. As always, the park services folks at the visitors centers and the park rangers were friendly, knowledgeable and nice!

The information center for exit glacier that helps you prepare for the hike. It has clean restrooms. With multiple trails to choose from, we chose one that tools about 1.5 hours. Very easy hike. Tons of mosquitoes (native bird) so if you have a spray use it. This place is excellent for showing the effect of climate changes.

One of the few national parks with no fees to enter or park. The ranger led walk at Exit glacier at 10 am and 2:30 pm was a great idea to learn about the icefield and the glacier. The short 1 mile hike to Outlook post is a nice but the one to Harding icefield is 8 miles and needs stamina food and water.

This is a great area to visit. You have several hiking opportunities. There is a wheelchair accessible trail as well as some unsaved sections. You can hike up to aend of the trail area for the Harding Icefields or you can go to the Exit Glacier viewpoint. My husband wears a leg brace so we were only able to go to the Exit Glacier viewpoint. The nature center has some great information on the glaciers. There is a smallmouth gift shop as well. I'm so glad we got to hike this area. Make sure you are carrying bear spray, even with the crowds. Always be prepared.

Kenai Fjords National Park is a breathtaking Alaskan gem. Its dramatic fjords, carved by ancient glaciers, meet vibrant marine ecosystems teeming with whales, seals, and seabirds. The Harding Icefield offers stunning views and challenging hikes, while boat tours reveal the park’s coastal splendor, including calving glaciers like Bear Glacier. Wildlife abounds, and the serene yet rugged landscape captivates. A must-visit for nature lovers, though weather can be unpredictable, so plan accordingly.

Hiking Trails
Exit Glacier, located in Kenai Fjords National Park, is easily accessible by road from the town of Seward. It's a popular spot for both recreational activities and resource harvesting. The area was historically used for various activities like hunting, berry picking, and gold mining before the park was established in 1980. Hikers visiting Exit Glacier can witness the impressive sight of a massive sheet of glacial ice with its unique blue light and crackling sounds.
What a beautiful hike it is. The parking is decent, I bet it can fill faster. When you set exit glacier in the map it will take you to the parking lot of Nature Center where you have rest rooms as well to use. The hike is moderate and the views will change and you keep doing the hike. To and fro can take about hour and half. Make sure to check the weather to Carry the rain jacket which is quite common in Alaska.
Vijay D — Google review
Easy hike with plenty of parking spots. The view were breathtaking. It took us about an hour and a half for roundtrip hike. The substantial loss of ice is disheartening. Make us feel like next 20 it might not be there anymore.
Wind N — Google review
Great hike to explore another glacier if you are in Seward. It’s a few miles from Kenai Fjords national park visitor center. The hike to the overlook is pretty easy but can get a little slippery during rainy days towards the end. You can also continue to hike all the way up to the glacier to get better views as it has receded a lot. The hike further up can be hard. This exit glacier is receding at an accelerated rate which is quite concerning. I guess it serves as a crucial indicator for climate change. :( Be responsible on the trail. Leave no trace.

Easy hike to the glacier. Stunning views. Ample parking 🅿️. Wish the trail was going closer to the glacier...

Absolutely incredible view! Hiked up to Glacier Overlook and Marmot Meadows. Still was a cuppa feet of snow up in the Meadows in May. Deff is an awesome place to get close to a glacier

Stunning place! I loved all the off shoot trails with great viewpoint and the flood plains! The markers of the years is so enlightening as to how our glaciers are being affected. Would recommend a hike back to see this glacier before we can no longer see it!

We had a great time hiking all the way up to the Harding Icefield. The rangers were all super nice and we borrowed bear cannisters for free to camp up on the mountain. Beautiful views and we got to see a family of mountain goats!
Josie H — Google review
Fantastic hike! We loved how the topography changed drastically throughout the hike - from forest to shrubbery to an epic glacier. Come prepared for changing weather and a big climb - the elevation change in this hike is no joke!

Exit Glacier Lodge Seward

Lodge
Nestled in the breathtaking Resurrection River valley, Exit Glacier Lodge in Seward offers a charming blend of rustic chic and homey comfort. This delightful lodge features 15 uniquely Alaskan rooms, providing guests with a cozy retreat just minutes from downtown Seward and close to local favorites like the Salmon Bake Restaurant. With its serene woodland setting, visitors can enjoy easy access to outdoor adventures such as Kenai Fjords National Park and Chugach National Forest, both within a short drive.
The Loft room is a great choice for a family. There were 3 beds upstairs in a fun loft area for the kids who mom and dad have a private room downstairs. There is a washer and dryer in the room, which was a great surprise! Very quiet location. The only drawback was in tried to go for a nice walk in the afternoon and was chased away by a rude neighbor with dogs who yelled at me that I was trespassing on private property. To bad that angry, ignorant people have to try to ruin things for other people. The signs clearly say no trespassing EXCEPT FOR RESIDENTS AND GUESTS.

We came up from Georgia to do a southbound cruise and decided to spend a few days in Seward first. This place is just 3 miles from Seward and we were not disappointed ! Todd, the owner is so friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we were happy there. And we were! We had an upstairs room in a building behind the main lodge. Clean, comfortable and it had the best restaurant right next to the main lodge. It’s called the Salmon Bake and the food every meal was wonderful! We were told before we got there that it was the best place to eat. And it was!! It was full at dinner every night. And at breakfast Todd asks the night before what time you’d like to eat and gives you about 3 or 4 choices of what he will be serving. He cooks it himself in the lodge and has a dining room where you can have coffee while you wait. Everything we had at breakfast was delicious and cooked just right too. And it’s only a short drive to Exit Glacier! We were very pleased with everything and would definitely stay there again!

We stumbled on this place when we needed an unexpected one night stay in Seward. It’s a nice old fashioned historic hotel a few minutes drive from town. The loft unit we stayed in was comfortable and spacious, with a queen bed downstairs and three twin beds in a loft space upstairs. The breakfast options looked great and are served in a small dining area by the lobby. There’s a full fledged restaurant attached. Very good and personal service, and well worth the price.

Located very close to downtown Seward. Room was clean. Alaska is pretty much 24/7 daylight in July and the blinds did not block much light. Would stay again, just don't think that it is quite 5 star.
Ken H — Google review
There was a situation with a room upgrade where communication with me in advance would have been nice. Started things out on the wrong foot for me but the following morning I talked with the manager. We worked things out. He explained his side and I understood. He offered to change me to the cabin but I declined since that would have put him out and I only had one night stay left. I jumped to a bad judgment which I am fixing now. Another area when communication could be improved was an employee told me there was breakfast in the morning so I got up and went to eat breakfast. Other people staying explained you have to put an order in well in advance. That was not explained to me. So the manager ended up making me breakfast despite that fact which I did feel bad but I wasn't told the full story when I checked in. Then it turns out it was a paid breakfast which I should have asked but didn't. For what I got it was a good value though so that was fine. The lodge is good. The room I had was nice. One more thing and this really isn't anyone's fault but if you stay here just know transportation to Seward will be difficult if you don't have a car and most likely if you need anything you'll need to go to Seward. Seward has taxi companies but I learned this morning even hiring one in advance doesn't mean they will make it even 20 minutes after the time you had set up. Thankfully another man staying here gave me a ride to town. I was taught better than to accept rides from strangers but I had a boat tour I really wanted to make.

Visitor center
The Seward Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce is a must-visit destination for anyone planning a trip to Seward, Alaska. The center provides valuable information on businesses that are open during the off-season, ensuring that visitors have an enjoyable experience even in November when some attractions may be closed. Visitors praise the exceptional service at the center, likening it to a 5-star hotel. The friendly and knowledgeable staff, particularly Karen, receive high praise for their assistance in making trips to Seward memorable.
Alaskans are so amazingly friendly and kind. The young lady greeted me and offered her help and guidance immediately. She pointed me to great brochures and information to make our day in Seward a great one. What a beautiful town and the mural project had us all in awe. I hope to return one day to also take trips into the fjords and go hiking. Perhaps even a dog sled ride. Now that would be the ultimate adventure.

So grateful for the Seward Chamber of Commerce. They helped guide me in opening Frozen Cactus Salon with step by step instructions! Members from the chamber have helped me set up for the grand opening and the Frozen party. As well as help keep any info up to date for the community! Thank you so much for making this wild adventure a little more organized!

Don't waste your time. We were in there for close to a half hour and not one person spoke to us. We really felt like we were a bother to them so we left. But based on how the rest of the day went in Seward I'd say that's how visitors are treated here. Can't wait to leave
Shelley B — Google review
The two people at the Seward Visitors Center were very helpful and patient in answering my many questions. They shared some of their favorite spots in town to walk as well as some restaurants. There's some boba and good fudge in town. There were some local community flyers in there that had nice info like local musicians, events put on by the Seward Parks and Rec, First Friday arts walk, and information about the local children's museum. Theses are the gems you don't find online. There's event an EV car charging station in front. And, I learned that Kenai Aviation has flights between Anchorage Seward. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're looking to find a mixture of local and touristy information.

Wow what to say. if I was able to give minus zero numbers on their review I sure will do that. We stopped to get some information about the town and figure out what’s going to happen on Fourth of July celebration. We heard this is the best place in Alaska celebrates the 4th. We arrived it was a lady sitting in the front desk we politely wanted to ask her about places stuff to do around town she had absolutely zero tolerance to answer our question ,she was very rude ,very short in her answers like we literally interrupting her day and she was stopping and looking on the clock because she had another half hour to be there. We felt very uncomfortable . We pick up a few brochures by ourselves and left with that and there’s a few couples got to in and also wanted to know knowledge about the glaciers in tours around town - Again her answers was absolutely zero time to think and we saw their expression on their face was like are you really giving us this face - you are working for information center you representing town. We felt very uncomfortable and would definitely not recommend to go there. You have another few places visitor centers that you can find nicer people to get all your questions answered. ( the lady on picture- is the one who don’t care for what you have to ask )!!!!

They younglady that was there when we arrived was very helpful with putting us in touch with local renters. We were able to secure a place rather quickly and we were very pleased with what she had found and what we rented. She gave us anoist of places she enjoyed eating at which we tried the following day and her recommendation for the breakfast was spot on. We enjoyed talking with her and the information she provided.

We came to ask about information regarding tours and the lady at the counter was amazing. She recommended the most suitable option for us and also provided plenty of details about other possibilities. There are also many brochures available with tips on what to do and where to go in the area. A great place, highly recommended.

We had an absolute blast on our zipline tour with Stoney Creek! Our guides - Caleb and Alex - were top notch! We felt totally safe and well informed throughout the process. And those mountain views! The lines run through a truly beautiful area. Highly recommend!

The zip line was a total blast! The operators were super nice. Very beautiful and a nice variety of activities. They called it active zip lining and it definitely was. Would definitely do it again.

I friggin loved it. The staff are friendly and upbeat. You feel very safe with the whole thing, minus the wooden bridges. They were a tiny bit slippery. You go on 8 zip lines, do 2 repel’s, and cross 3 wooden suspended bridges! I really enjoyed the whole thing. I wish they took pictures for you to have or buy. Make sure you dress for the weather, it does get windy up in the trees.

My husband and I were lucky enough to have Caelum Gant and Alex Carrigan as our own personal guides. The experience was amazing!!! Caelum was very knowledgeable of the forest and ecosystem and Alex’s sense of humor is developing nicely into dad jokes. They were so much fun to be with and made us feel safe and adventurous at the same time. The scenery is unbeatable and the adrenaline rush is worth every penny. We even had some light rain to make the experience even more Alaska-like. We cannot recommend this experience enough!

The dining area is open all day, offering a great spot for breakfast, which can be hard to find in town. This place is amazing. Friendly atmosphere and great service. The food was awesome. Even my very picky 8 year old said it was amazing. Thank you Alaska Seafood and Grill. Best lunch in a very long time. The price is average for most places but even if people think it is a little high it is well worth it.

Had soup & coffee 1st evening. Service was so, so. Waitress was not attentive, slow service & not very friendly. Next morning, we went for breakfast; everyone was friendly. Shayna was our server. Place was hopping, staff worked as a team & service was great. Food plentiful. Waitress, Shayna, was excellent. Next day, we came for lunch. Shayna was the main reason we returned the very next day & Shayna. Again, was our server. Wife & I both said she is a terrific waitress & very nice lady.

Local diner type of restaurant with good food, friendly atmosphere and a clean bathroom. We ordered the 2x2x2 special that included pancakes, eggs & bacon (or sausage or veggie sausage). The service was super quick & the food and coffee were good.

I drove down from Moose Pass early Sunday morning. The place was busy but I was seated promptly. Valerie, the waitress, took my order and gave me a piping hot cup of coffee. I had a ham and cheese omelet and breakfast potatoes. The portions were bigger than i expected, hot and very yummy! I got a coffee to go from Val, a hoodie from Shannon and had a smile on my face as a left. Thank you Breeze!

I am so grateful for this place during my visit! Amazing food and drinks, super helpful staff. Probably the best chowder I’ve had! Creamy, umami, peppery, a nice treat for the cold day.

Shelly was wonderful to work with—very communicative and quick to respond. Pickup was easy, and the food stayed hot for several hours in the hotbox. We only ordered sides since we planned to grill our fresh-caught fish, and everything was excellent. The zucchini and summer squash, as well as the asparagus, were cooked to perfection—not soggy at all. The rice pilaf was flavorful, the rosemary garlic potatoes were outstanding, and both the crisp salad and tasty slaw were well enjoyed. To top it off, the cheesecake bites were a big hit. Highly recommend! I wish there were more options but in the end this worked out great. I would recommend this group for your catering needs.

Alaska Personified When I think of Alaska, I think of rugged, no-nonsense, friendly, generous people. That's also how I would describe the Breeze Inn - an affable, genial bartender and a relaxed, down-home vibe. As usual, we started with a local brew as recommended by our bartender - delicious. We then enjoyed the homemade Chowder - thick, creamy and very satisfying. The stars of the show were the Wild Game Slider. These beauties were crammed full of juicy, tender Moose, Elk, Buffalo and Deer - not just a novelty - a real taste treat. When you visit the Breeze Inn, try to get a seat at the bar - you will enjoy the view across the harbor and watching the world go by.

Had the black and blue chicken quaesadillas with the aloha salsa. It was bursting with flavour. Chicken was well seasoned and flavour was just unique. LOTS OF CHOICES on menu. Just a cozy Mexican restaurant good food, good staff and good atmosphere.

Reindeer burrito was good, but nachos were horrible! Everyone’s side of nachos were stale to the point of breaking your teeth. I ordered halibut nachos and had about 2-3 tablespoons of meat and about 4 chips weren’t stale and I was able to eat them.

This was a great find near the harbor. We had a halibut burrito which was amazing. My daughter thought the kids bean and cheese burrito was too spicy but my husband and I enjoyed her leftovers. They have great salsa and a couple tap beers. There are 2 other restaurants attached so your whole party could pick and choose if they liked.
