Seward, a charming port city in southern Alaska, is a gateway to the stunning Kenai Fjords National Park. The park boasts glaciers flowing from the Harding Icefield into coastal fjords, creating a habitat for whales and porpoises. Seward's Alaska SeaLife Center showcases seals and puffins, while its harbor bustles with fishing boats.

Hiking Trails
Exit Glacier, located in Kenai Fjords National Park, is easily accessible by road from the town of Seward. It's a popular spot for both recreational activities and resource harvesting. The area was historically used for various activities like hunting, berry picking, and gold mining before the park was established in 1980. Hikers visiting Exit Glacier can witness the impressive sight of a massive sheet of glacial ice with its unique blue light and crackling sounds.
What a beautiful hike it is. The parking is decent, I bet it can fill faster. When you set exit glacier in the map it will take you to the parking lot of Nature Center where you have rest rooms as well to use. The hike is moderate and the views will change and you keep doing the hike. To and fro can take about hour and half. Make sure to check the weather to Carry the rain jacket which is quite common in Alaska.
Vijay D — Google review
Easy hike with plenty of parking spots. The view were breathtaking. It took us about an hour and a half for roundtrip hike. The substantial loss of ice is disheartening. Make us feel like next 20 it might not be there anymore.
Wind N — Google review
Great hike to explore another glacier if you are in Seward. It’s a few miles from Kenai Fjords national park visitor center. The hike to the overlook is pretty easy but can get a little slippery during rainy days towards the end. You can also continue to hike all the way up to the glacier to get better views as it has receded a lot. The hike further up can be hard. This exit glacier is receding at an accelerated rate which is quite concerning. I guess it serves as a crucial indicator for climate change. :( Be responsible on the trail. Leave no trace.
H V — Google review
Easy hike to the glacier. Stunning views. Ample parking 🅿️. Wish the trail was going closer to the glacier...
Tibor T — Google review
Absolutely incredible view! Hiked up to Glacier Overlook and Marmot Meadows. Still was a cuppa feet of snow up in the Meadows in May. Deff is an awesome place to get close to a glacier
Willis — Google review
Stunning place! I loved all the off shoot trails with great viewpoint and the flood plains! The markers of the years is so enlightening as to how our glaciers are being affected. Would recommend a hike back to see this glacier before we can no longer see it!
Carly W — Google review
We had a great time hiking all the way up to the Harding Icefield. The rangers were all super nice and we borrowed bear cannisters for free to camp up on the mountain. Beautiful views and we got to see a family of mountain goats!
Josie H — Google review
Picturesque hiking trail to Exit Glacier. It has signs posted showing the boundary of the Glacier over the past 150 years, and it's crazy how fast it's receding.

Ice
Harding Icefield, named after President Harding, is a massive ice sheet covering over 1,000 square miles in the Kenai Fjords National Park. It feeds around 30 glaciers and has carved deep valleys as the glaciers make their way to the sea. The area is rich in wildlife including seabirds, sea lions, otters, and humpback whales.
Such a magnificent view of the glacier! Sadly, we couldn’t make it to the top of trail, that is not a one day around hiking trail, and we didn’t bring any camping stuff! So we went down back to the parking after we saw the glacier closely! But I’ve been told that the view of top of the mountain, you can not find the words to describe, I guess we have to find out next time if we could come back!
JOJO — Google review
Even if you think the track is hard for you, still go there. Go slow, rest every 5 minutes, but go! It’s really unique place on earth. Amazing 900 square miles field of ice. The kingdom of winter is in front of your eyes. It’s possible to continue the track and descend to the glacier. And even walk on it.
Konstantin I — Google review
Beautiful hike through forest to above the tree line, to the top where you can see the glacier. We had some snow near the top in early July. Wear layers!
Vicki D — Google review
Absolutely incredible hike! Let me share the details I wish I would have seen when planning our trip. We had a whale watching tour in Seward that ended at 5pm. Since the daylight lasts so long i was curious if we could do this hike afterwards. Everything I read (and everything locals at shops told me) was to plan for 6-8 hours for the hike. This made me think it wouldn't be safe to start this hike at 545p. Against better judgment, 3 of us headed out after the whale tour anyway. I'd describe our group as moderately athletic, recreational hikers. We wore tennis shoes (no hiking boots, gear, poles, or anything an avid hiker would us), shorts, pants, t-shirts, and had a couple of top layers. From the parking lot, we got to the shed at the end of the hike in an hour and 47 minutes. We spent about 30 minutes completing the hike at various viewpoints at the end, enjoying the spectacular views, and taking pictures. The trip back began around 830p and took 87 minutes with some light jogging included. We chugged water at the restrooms at the base, unwound, stretched a bit and hit the road before 1030p with plenty of light still available in an Alaskan July. This is one of the best hikes I've done when thinking about the different views and landscapes it takes you through. We saw a mama bear and cub in the far distance hiking across the mountain at the top which was incredible (not nearly close enough to be worried, which I was very bear aware). I'm glad I decided to take the trek despite the times others said it takes to complete. That being said, sitting at the summit for 3 hours would have been a blast and there's no reason not take more time. I just wanted to put a realistic review on here for the next person in my situation considering this hike.
Philip M — Google review
one of the best hikes we have had on the Kenai Peninsula, well worth the effort to the end of the trail
Cindy B — Google review
Stunning beautiful Icefield that is a hike to get up to. Start at Exit Glacier and climb over 3000 feet to the Icefield which is an amazing site to be seen for sure. Along the way are beautiful wildflowers and wildlife if you are lucky. You can even camp up here as you can see someone is doing in my photo. For sure recommend despite being touristy
Jesse ( — Google review
This was a pretty exhausting hike. With breaks for lunch and to enjoy the awesome reward of a view at the end, it took us about 8 hours round-trip, but it was well worth it! Walking sticks are probably a good idea - knees are legs are still pretty sore even a few days after having done the hike. All in all, really cool hike. There are a couple of spots that are a little tricker to get through (lots of "rock stairs") that can be a little challenging, but if you take your time, you'll get to see stunning views of what looks like a frozen desert.
Bruno C — Google review
Absolutely stunning place - first following a glacier up a mountain, perched hundreds of feet above it...then seeing the entire mountain range above covered in hundreds of feet of ice and snow is a sight to behold. Well worth the strenuous hike up here!

Resurrection Bay is a stunning natural wonder located in the Kenai Fjords National Park in southeast Alaska. The bay is surrounded by towering cliffs, deep coves, and home to a variety of marine wildlife including sea otters. Fox Island, situated within Resurrection Bay, offers cozy log cabins right on the beach for visitors to stay and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
We had an amazing boat trip and tour out of Seward and Resurrection Bay. Wildlife was abundant and sighting opportunities plentiful. Alaska is beautiful!
Kevin L — Google review
The Resurrection Bay Tour was just a wonderful treat to watch about 15-20 humpback whales bubble net feeding up close and personal. Some moments were just breathtaking and majestic for us people in awe on the boat. I am definitely recommending this 4-5 tour tour! Captain was extremely experienced.
Qihua M — Google review
This place is just amazing. Had a kayaking experience. Plan a rail trip too when in Alaska. Alaska railroad is enjoyable journey. I had been on this rail from Anchorage to Seward. Most of the road goes parallel with the bay. However, there are some places at the back of mountain where only the train goes. So, no matter which means you choose, you are gonna enjoy this ride
Gaurav P — Google review
There is plenty to see and experience in the Resurrection Bay. The Resurrection Bay is the entrance and exit out of Seward Alaska. Visitors could do kayaking, glacial, and whale tours. The cruise ships and coal ships coming in and out of here often. I think you'll see mostly fishing by the locals, but that doesn't mean visitors can't fish either - just get a fishing license and a lottery ticket (if lottery is active).

The Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward offers a unique opportunity to explore the marine life of Alaska. Situated on the shores of Resurrection Bay, it is the state's only permanent facility for marine mammal rehabilitation and promotes stewardship of natural resources. Visitors can get up close with local inhabitants such as sea lions, puffins, and other rare animals, fish, and birds.
Wonderful time at this place. The staff is kind and loves to educate the public. You get to see all the animals up close and there are regular demonstrations so you can see feedings and learn more about behaviors. Animals that can be rehabilitated are released back into the wild, and those that cannot are given a great habitat to live in. The animals seemed genuinely happy to be there.
Jonathan K — Google review
I've been to the Alaska SeaLife Center multiple times over the years and each time it never fails to impress. There is much to explore and learn here. Exhibits teach about impact of environmental changes on Ressurection Bay's wildlife, the life cycle of sea bird species, and how research is conducted to better understand this region Sea anemone, starfish, Puffins and Sellar Sea Lions (among dozens of other species) live in this sanctuary; it is incredible to watch and interact with them, to gain a new appreciation for Alaska and its beautiful denizens. The center also has a veterinarian/wildlife response team that cares for injured animals and tells their story. For a small town like Seward, the SeaLife Center punches well above its weight and is well worth a visit
Tyler N — Google review
You can see almost all kinds of Alaskan sea wildlife there, in something close to their natural habitat. Check out the pictures to see what you can find there. This place is perfect for anyone who wasn’t lucky enough to spot some of these animals in the wild. I especially loved seeing the puffins — they are such lovely birds.
Wojciech T — Google review
This was a fun way to spend about 90 minutes of our day! We went in the afternoon around 4pm when it was much less busy than earlier in the day. What was great about going at this time is that at 5pm we got to see the puffins being fed! This was awesome especially because this was one of the animals we were most excited to see. We were told the lower underwater viewing of the feeding was the place to be. It didn't disappoint because we got to see lots of puffin action when they would dive for their food. Overall, a great way to spend some time in Seward. Very well put together SeaLife Center!
Bailey J — Google review
This is a small sea life center but it is full of great information on the sea life in the area. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the sea life that was available. You start upstairs and work your way downstairs. There is a small coffee/snack area and a nice gift shop. We spent probably 2 hours inside. They have parking available for RVs, vehicles and handicap.
Donna S — Google review
The SeaLife Center was so much fun. I hadn't been in years and even going without kids, I spent two hours there. So much cool sea creatures to see. From seabirds to fish to octopus to big sea lions, I was thoroughly entertained. The docent near the seals was very knowledgeable and full of great information. There was even a touch tank to gentle brush upon sea urchins and starfish. It's definitely worth a trip here when you're in Seward.
Lisa N — Google review
Wow I was impressed with this SeaLife Center! On the smaller size but you can easily spend 1-2 hours here given all of the k informational signs, animals to view and the interactive touch tanks. Our family really enjoyed the touch tanks and learning not only about the animals but Seward.
Lexie M — Google review
Nice aquarium. It is a little smaller but wasn't too packed either. Its nice to know they actually use some of the water from Resurrection Bay for their salt water creatures. You go through as many times as you want throughout the day. There is also a nice coffee shop inside incase you want to get your coffee fix on. The scheduled events are well spread out so you can see it all. Overall its an awesome place to visit.

Visitor center
The Exit Glacier Nature Center serves as an informative hub for visitors, offering a bookstore and ranger assistance. During summer, ranger-led tours of the lower glacier depart from here regularly. The center is also a convenient starting point for exploring the network of trails that provide stunning views of Exit Glacier, which is the easternmost outlet of the Harding Icefield. While it may be closed during winter, visiting during other seasons allows hikers to witness markers indicating the glacier's historical extent and its subsequent retreat.
Awesome place to hike. You can choose from various trails that are different difficulty. Glacier was neat to see. Easy parking and signs.
Daryl B — Google review
Highly recommend the hike up to the glacier. The views are spectacular. The one-hour loop is easy, flat and partially paved. The two hour loop is not difficult at all and there are plenty of places to stop , sit and enjoy the views. And for avid hikers, there is the longer trail to the glacier. You can also get guided tours that will allow you to hike on the glacier. As always, the park services folks at the visitors centers and the park rangers were friendly, knowledgeable and nice!
Tasbir I — Google review
We visited Kenai Fjords National Park Exit Glacier in August. We lucked out that there was a free ranger tour that we were able to follow. We hiked to the Exit Glacier viewpoint and took the informative ranger walk. We learned that the signs along the road and trail show where the glacier reached in past decade …strong proof of the effects climate change ☹️. Exit Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers in Alaska and a highlight of Kenai Fjords National Park, located just outside Seward. We lucked out with beautiful weather and happy to check off another item on my National Park bucket list 😊
Catherine H — Google review
The information center for exit glacier that helps you prepare for the hike. It has clean restrooms. With multiple trails to choose from, we chose one that tools about 1.5 hours. Very easy hike. Tons of mosquitoes (native bird) so if you have a spray use it. This place is excellent for showing the effect of climate changes.
Wind N — Google review
One of the few national parks with no fees to enter or park. The ranger led walk at Exit glacier at 10 am and 2:30 pm was a great idea to learn about the icefield and the glacier. The short 1 mile hike to Outlook post is a nice but the one to Harding icefield is 8 miles and needs stamina food and water.
Gaurav A — Google review
This is a great area to visit. You have several hiking opportunities. There is a wheelchair accessible trail as well as some unsaved sections. You can hike up to aend of the trail area for the Harding Icefields or you can go to the Exit Glacier viewpoint. My husband wears a leg brace so we were only able to go to the Exit Glacier viewpoint. The nature center has some great information on the glaciers. There is a smallmouth gift shop as well. I'm so glad we got to hike this area. Make sure you are carrying bear spray, even with the crowds. Always be prepared.

Kenai Fjords National Park is a breathtaking Alaskan gem. Its dramatic fjords, carved by ancient glaciers, meet vibrant marine ecosystems teeming with whales, seals, and seabirds. The Harding Icefield offers stunning views and challenging hikes, while boat tours reveal the park’s coastal splendor, including calving glaciers like Bear Glacier. Wildlife abounds, and the serene yet rugged landscape captivates. A must-visit for nature lovers, though weather can be unpredictable, so plan accordingly.

Sunny Cove Kayaking - Adventure Center in Seward, Alaska offers a unique way to explore the glaciers and marine wildlife of the area. Renting a kayak allows for an up-close and personal experience while enjoying the solitude of an Alaskan vacation. For those new to kayaking, professional tours are available.
We had the most amazing experience with Sunny Cove Kayaking on the Resurrection Bay excursion! From start to finish, everything was seamless and memorable. We were picked up right on time from the train station by a lovely driver who gave us fun and interesting facts about Seward on the way—such a thoughtful touch. Once we arrived, our guides were absolutely top-notch—knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and just the right mix of cool and funny. They made us feel completely at ease on the water and added so much to the overall experience. The scenery was stunning—glassy waters, towering mountains, and wildlife that made it feel like we were paddling through a postcard. We couldn’t have asked for a better adventure in Alaska. Highly recommend Sunny Cove Kayaking to anyone visiting Seward!
Laura L — Google review
We had an amazing time with the crew of Sunny Cove Kayaking and Seward Coastal charters. We did the boat/kayak tour to Holgate glacier which was nothing short of spectacular. Maggie and Amelia were fantastic kayak guides and Matthew was super knowledgeable about all of the wildlife we experienced along the way particularly the birds (definitely an enthusiast!) and our Captain, Brent had a super keen eye for spotting and finding amazing wildlife, including fin whales, porpoises, goats, humpbacks. This trip had it all. It was not a cheap excursion but I don’t know how you could pack much more awesome in a day
Jeff B — Google review
We did the Fox Island kayak adventure in June. Kayaking has always been a favorite excursion of ours whenever we travel and this trip was no exception. Our tour guides Drew and Maggie were fantastic and by kayaking it really allowed us to feel immersed in the beautiful Alaska scenery. Fox Island is a beautiful location that not many people get to visit so we felt special for having the opportunity to explore it's coasts. We saw harbor porpoise and even a puffin! Our only critique was the Resurrection Bay tour on the back half of the day. It was a bit too family friendly for the adventurous day we were looking to have. We would have much rather just have been brought straight back to Seward post kayaking, but not sure if that would be logistically possible. That said, they kayaking portion still made the whole day worth it.
Bailey J — Google review
I did the Tonsina Point kayak/hike tour. My guide was Drew & she was incredible! We had a great time on the water & on a little hike; saw lots of sea otters, river otters, salmon during their run, a porpoise, eagles; & we foraged for blueberries, salmon berries, and mushrooms!!!! She kept us warm and well nourished and was a delightful guide and pal. The day flew by too quickly. Thanks Drew!
Alexa B — Google review
My husband and I cannot recommend Sunny Cove enough! Especially our guide, Drew! We ended up essentially having a one-on-one experience kayaking around Fox Island because we were the only ones to sign up that day and we couldn’t have been partnered with a better guide around the island. For someone who has only been on the job for around 4 months, she was SO knowledgeable about all of the different wildlife in the bay and made sure to point out everything she could! We had an absolute blast just chatting it up with her as well, she’s just the sweetest! 10/10 would book with Sunny Cove again and cross our fingers that we got Drew again!

We had a beautiful trip Kayaking in front of Holgate Glacier, and it was only possible because of the amazing crew! Our guide Zeke, Matt, and Captain Brent were knowledgable and dedicated, and made the entire experience one we will cherish forever. From welcoming us on board, showing us the beautiful landscapes and thrilling whales and other wildlife, to the well-equipped kayaks, and providing us snacks and lunch, everything was truly thought out and taken care of. They even went out of their way to help my husband surprise me for my birthday, and I am so glad to say I was able to celebrate my birthday in front of a glacier! This is a once in a lifetime experience, and the team at Sunny Cove Kayaking is who you want to go with for this adventure! Thank you to the entire team again!

Our Kayak adventure into Resurrection Bay was everything we hoped it would be. We had gorgeous weather and felt safe on the water from our two guides, Zeke and Sven. We saw some Sea Otters, a porpoise, birds, and glaciers! This tour was one of our highlights in Alaska, we highly recommend it!

What a great spot! Our server Carol was fantastic, the beers were excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Loaded Homies to share (SOOOO GOOD) as well as the Cheesus pizza (with an epic amount of pepperoni added). I really enjoyed both IPAs I had, though the Teeny IPA was my fave, hands down. Definitely check them out if you're in Seward!

Came here for beer and dinner. I really enjoyed the Milk Stout and my husband was delighted with his White Fang Hefe. We decided to split the Tuscan Raider pizza. He loved it and I enjoyed the pizza, but found it hard to enjoy it with the burnt marks, but not really burnt marks? It was like black smoke dust on it. I would rip off the pieces and give it to my husband because it would just ruin the taste for me. The waitress was awesome, though. Amazing memory, checked on us, and was on top of it!

I came here yesterday for dinner with my husband and in laws. It was nice that we could get a table right away without a reservation. There weren’t many food items on the menu. My father-in-law got a glass of beer that smelled like fruit punch; I don’t remember what it was called lol but he loved it (he even bought the store souvenir glasses). We got pretzels and cheese fries as starters. The cheese fries were on the special menu. You have to scan the qr code on the menu to see it. They were good—not outstanding but good. I went with the Bao Down as an entree. The buns were soft. The fish was nice, not fishy at all. The others got pizzas. I didn’t try theirs but they seemed to enjoy it.

I’m a little indifferent about this place. When I go out to eat, I generally expect to be impressed or just feel at least somewhat satisfied. We came to this place looking for the fish tacos that everyone had been posting about in the reviews, but arrived to see that they had changed the menu to be more of an Asian fusion and then there was also ‘gourmet’ wood fired pizza. I ordered the mango cider, and this was the only thing that impressed me from what we ordered on the menu. For an appetizer we had the loaded homies, and the Gorgonzola really ruined the flavor. It’s all we could taste. For an entree we shared the dad’s micro dosing pizza which, reading the ingredients, sounded amazing. But tasting it, it was just so plain. It’s missing the ‘wow’ factor that I really thought that these ingredients could deliver. Our server was very kind and attentive, so I greatly appreciate her for that. The food was just really lacking for us and made us disappointed to have spent our money here as the first dining experience for us in Alaska.

NOTE: They are currently closed for the season. They will be reopening in May 2023. Seward Brewing Company has to be probably my second favorite restaurant in town. We got food from quite a few places in Seward when we were in town back in June 2022, but SBC is probably my second favorite out of all the ones we tried. The overall vibe of the restaurant is gorgeous and modern. 2 floors of seating so they can accommodate a lot of people. The service was super friendly! Our waitress was very attentive to us, gave great menu suggestions since we were new people to town, and had a great attitude! As for the food, I got the Regular Rudy pizza and it was amazing! The crust is crispy and the toppings are crazy hot and fresh! Overall, if you ever make it out to Seward in the summer time, hit up this place! Great food, service, and beer lists! I’ll definitely come back here the next time I make it out to Alaska.

Seated our group of 8 quickly. Good beer selection on tap. Food was good, not great, but still a good option when seeking an alternative to high-end seafood while in Seward. My pizza came out well, but saw a few with a little more char on the crust than I care for.

Most beautiful library I've ever been to. Clean bathroom. Great kids area too.

While on vacation, I stopped in here a few times to use this library's facilities, which were clean, modern, and advantageous for my work. Walkable location and stellar WiFi too. The museum downstairs was only $5 (cash only). I was blown away by some of the Alaskan artifacts on display. I'd recommend this library over any of the cafés in town.

5 stars for the movies they show at 2pm (at least on Fridays - maybe other days of the week) on the 1964 earthquake (including first hand accounts) and the Iditerod Historic Trail.

Living and working on the road can be rough but I absolutely love getting work done here! The WiFi is fast and easy to connect to (it’s also on 24/7 and works outside the building, there is a sign advertising this!), desks have plenty of outlets, and there is always room for me when I come in.

Fox Island, situated across Resurrection Bay from the park headquarters, gained fame in the 1920s when artist Rockwell Kent depicted its scenery and wrote about it in his renowned book. Visitors can embark on an 8.5-hour tour to witness glaciers and wildlife, enjoying a hot lunch and salmon dinner on the island. Travelers have praised the abundant wildlife sightings during tours and enjoyed delicious meals featuring fresh seafood and other delectable options.
I went here as a dinner destination as part of a sightseeing cruise from Miller’s Landing campground. The cruise was amazing and the the dinner was awesome. Fresh king crab, king salmon, and prime rib along with bread, smashed potatoes and vegetables. I love Alaska and this was definitely a highlight and I would recommend it highly.

Great tour of fox island and surrounding areas. Saw a bunch of whales and other animals. The included lunch of chicken or salmon was surprisingly good with salad and bread. Try to be the first off the boat at fox island but the line for the Buffett wasn’t too bad. The poor staff had their hands full with kids whose parents couldn’t be bothered to control them. They also got us back in a few minutes late because they were so determined to get us one really good last look at a whale, which was appreciated. Wish there was more outside seating. Dress with lots of layers!

Boat tour agency
Kenai Fjords Tours, a long-standing tour operator in Seward, offers a range of cruises in Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. Their fleet of modern boats provides opportunities to see tidewater glaciers and wildlife such as puffins, sea otters, Dalls porpoises, and sea lions. The company is well-regarded for its enthusiastic staff and has been operating since 1974.
The crew was excellent — very friendly and attentive throughout the tour. The captain always pointed out where to look and what we were seeing: orcas, seals, sea lions, an eagle, and even an otter. They made sure to slow down or stop so that everyone had a chance to see the wildlife. I also appreciated their drink deal: for $12 you could buy a souvenir cup and get unlimited refills of soda, coffee, and tea. At the end of the trip, we were treated to freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, which was a wonderful surprise. Lunch, however, was a bit underwhelming — just a burrito and chips. For such a long cruise, it would be nice to have a hot meal option, like soup and some protein. Connectivity was also an issue for me. Since I work remotely, being without signal for six hours was stressful. It would be great if the boat were equipped with Wi-Fi, even if paid. The highlight of the cruise was seeing the glacier up close. The crew even brought a piece of glacier ice on board so we could touch it — and even use it in our drinks! Overall, it was a fantastic experience that I would definitely recommend. Just be sure to dress warmly, as it can get quite windy out on the water.

Well there is a reason they have a 4.8 star review. This trip was awesome. We got lucky and had perfect weather so that made it even better. Steve (evening Steve) was out captain and his knowledge was amazing. I'm not a history person but hearing all the facts he had made the trip that much better. The food they served was actually really good and then a chocolate chip cookie at the and was icing on the cake. We got to see humpback whales and orcas along with a bunch of birds. Then the glaciers and other scenery was just fantastic. We will be bringing the kids back and this will definitely be a trip we take again.

Wow this tour was amazing! We went on the Classic Kenai Fjord Tour and the views were amazing. We saw two glaciers, lots of wildlife including whales, sea otter, seals, and sea lions. The staff was absolutely fantastic. Shoutout to Captain Smith! He was very patient and and let us take pictures of wildlife he could find, he was very informative and gave us a background history of Seward. The crew was amazing too, they had very fast service with the lunch (which was amazing!) The entire experience was amazing 👏
Shobhit J — Google review
First and most important: we picked an 8 hours tour and for everyone, who have doubts either to take a smaller tour or this one, I would highly recommend to take this one. I was at that position as well, and the lady we met during our trip recommended to take 8 hours, as she took it and she was so impressed. Here are the reasons that might help you: 1. You would have a chance to get way further and closer to the glacier and with that get a better understanding on how big it was and how much of it already melted. 2. The captain of the cruise always have some interesting insights about every part of the way, the cruise is going through. 3. You will see and hear how glacier pieces fall apart. This is magnificent to watch and hear. 4. The wildlife - captain always chasing any wildlife he or anyone on the cruise sees. We were lucky to see the group of whales, who were catching the food. We also were going along with a whale mom and a kid and watching them playing, as well as tried to get a better view of orcas. 5. Yes, I know it might be pricey, but it totally worth every penny! The experience is unforgettable. 6. Besides glacier and wildlife, there are waterfalls, islands and lot more! !! Important part: take some motion medicine, as chasing wildlife might sounds like a fun, but in reality your body might not be that excited of all waves 😅
Rufina E — Google review
Everything was excellent from start to finish! The check in process was very easy. There is a waiting room and bathrooms as you wait to board. Keep in mind their check in office is inside of a hotel so it gets busy! Now the cruise itself was breathtaking! The crew was very kind and caring. They talked with every passenger on board and chatted/shared stories which made the whole experience more memorable. We received brochures of all the animals that we could potentially see. The captain went to great efforts to spot and point out any animals he encountered and we saw a ton! From whales, sea lions, sea others, puffins and a ton of Orcas! I am so happy for this once in a lifetime experience!
Lukasz ( — Google review
Fantastic boat and charter. Check in was easy with a nice sized gift shop to browse while you wait. The boat had plenty of room for all the passengers. We saw tons of animals. The sights were amazing. 8/31, it was cold but awesome to be able to go inside for a few to warm up. The food was great both the chicken and gluten free/veggie option. Couldn't/wouldn't have changed a thing.
Buhlakay G — Google review
Even though it is pretty geared towards mass tourism, they managed to provide a very unique and excellent tour. We saw wildlife and glaciers beyond our wildest expectations and they did everything to make the trip enjoyable. Note: it was pretty cold and the sea was rough. Ships seemed in top condition and staff is accommodating and professional. Recommendation!

Although we had cloudy, rainy and drizzly weather, it was still a fantastic tour. The captain was very knowledgeable about the area and made sure we all saw plenty of wildlife. The staff was amazing as well. They served a very good lunch and the chocolate chip cookies were a hit. This is a definite tour you need to do while in Seward.

Amazing experience! The trip includes a boat ride to and from the glacier, and kayaking there is something everyone capable should try. It was my first time kayaking in the sea, so it took strength, technique, and effort, but our guide Tony was fantastic, he gave us great tips along the way and even shared scones and homemade granola bars. A truly unique adventure.

We had an amazing time! Our guide Anna was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. So fun to kayak next to seals and sea lions and also to explore the little inter tidal creatures. Everywhere you looked was incredible scenery. Loved hanging out at the Fox Island spit! 10/10 would recommend!

We had an incredible time: the boat taxi out we saw tons of wildlife, our camp sites were spectacular, the kayaking was great, and we were able to go on a few short exploration hikes. Our guide, Cole, was very helpful and knowledgeable about animals and places. The logistics of the trip were well thought-out and ran smoothly. We had a good mix of kayaking and short hikes/short explorations. We saw lots of birds, some sea mammals, and many cool plants and fungi. We could have happily stayed many more days! A few guides, who had not come on our trip but were in the boat taxi with us, saw us after the trip and went out of their way to come check-in with us as we waited for a shuttle after returning to Seward.

My husband and I went out on the all day boat and kayak tour last week from Seward into the fjords and kayaking up to the glacier. We loved our guide Cooper and everything about this company. We liked the warm and waterproof gear they give you. We liked how they divided us into 3, 6 person groups plus one guide. The boat operators (which I believe are an independent company) were great at spotting and stopping for wildlife pictures. We saw Oracas and Sea Lions and enjoyed the fjords. Once in the bay where the kayaks were the guides efficiently got us underway and push you in the water so your feet stay dry! While sitting in our kayaks with a view of the glacier, we had a delicious sandwich from a local bakery that was also catered to my husband’s allergies. When the tour concluded, they allowed us to choose which local charity the donation from our ticket revenue would go to. Overall, a really outstanding and upstanding local business we highly recommend.

Tony was the best guide ever and knew about every tree, every bird, and so much history! What a great way to spend the day…can’t speak highly enough about Kayak Adventures!!! They clearly want you to have an amazing experience. Thank you. We did the full day…kayaked, hiked, had delicious homemade granola bars and sandwiches…the mint water was perfect….and then kayaked again. The highlight of our trip to Alaska!

We loved our trip! We were unable to kayak due to strong north winds, but the wildlife tour was absolutely worth it! Our guide Freddy was super friendly and had lots of knowledge. The boat stopped for tons of wildlife - we saw humpback and orca whales, otters, seals, sea lions, puffins, porpoises, and mountain goats! We saw several humpbacks feeding in a circle which was awesome. The captain (Jamie?) got us really close to shore and put us in great position to see everything, including Aialik Glacier, which we were able to get quite close to.

This was actually so amazing! I enjoyed speaking with the amazing staff and the adventure was worth every penny! We got to see a bald eagle, sea otters & even a harbor sea lion. They provided locally made granola bars & a warm drink on our snack break. AND they donate 1% of profits to charity. I joined this trip solo and was welcomed by everyone in the group. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to Kayak in Seward

The Alaska Railroad Corporation, serving as the southern terminus in Seward, holds a rich history dating back to the early fur trade era. The train ride from Anchorage to Seward offers breathtaking scenery and an option for Gold Star service with amenities like open-air cars and complimentary meals. Passengers praise the friendly staff, comfortable seats, and captivating commentary during the journey. Many travelers find the Gold Star tickets well worth it for an unforgettable experience amidst stunning Alaskan landscapes.
Our family visited Alaska in July 2024, and took the Denali Star train with Goldstar service (glass dome car, meals and drinks included) to travel from Anchorage to Denali and back again a few days later. I wholeheartedly agree with other reviewers and online travel blogs that this is a big splurge worth making if you’re probably only going to travel here once. The train was hands-down the highlight of our entire trip, for both the grown ups and the kids (6 and 8). It’s a long journey (8 hours each way by train, vs about 6 hours by car), but it doesn’t feel like it. The meal service breaks things up (and was delicious), and the views get increasingly spectacular the further north you go. We spent a lot of time on the outdoor viewing deck and enjoyed the periodic guide commentary on interesting things to see (including occasional wildlife). The guides for part of the trip are high schoolers in a summer program, but we didn’t find this out until later, and you would never know it as they did such a professional job. The bartenders on the trip were also great, and happily indulged my kids with occasional cups of maraschino cherries and whipped cream, much to my chagrin!! I highly recommend the Denali Star train to anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime Alaska experience. It is expensive, but we found it to be worth every penny.

Took the train from Fairbanks, to Denali Park, and then on to Anchorage. What a wonderful trip. Upgrade to the dome car. Well worth it. The food and service were outstanding. Highly recommend this trip as a supplement to a cruise out of Seward, AK.

Took the PM train from Seward to Anchorage. Comfortable seats, beautiful views. Someone in our group had already ridden the train a different day and said that the person providing info on the scenery was better on the previous trip. It felt fancy to have drinks and dinner on the train. Salad, entree, dessert and 2 cocktails were included with the ticket. The open air car allowed you to stand outside and get unobstructed views- it was really cool. Overall an expensive ride but worth doing at least once.

Second visit after 9 years. Alaska Railroad does not disappoint. Spend the extra for the goldstar packages if you can. Either way, some of the most scenic views in the world.....and yes...even if it's raining.

Best decision of the trip. This experience was amazing and the gold star tickets are well worth the cost. I'll be honest I spent 70% of the train ride on the balcony. The photos are just 20 of over 150 taken on the train ride.
Josh G — Google review
The train ride from Anchorage to Seward has some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. The Gold Star service on board was great it's definitely worth the price to upgrade. I didn't have to worry about meal or drink for the journey since everything was provided. The open air car is one of the main reasons to choose the gold star service. Being able to smell and feel the crisp Alaskan air for as long as you want was worth it for me. The food was much better than I anticipated and had a good selection. Taking the train is a must if you are looking to see some Alaskan scenery without the hassle of driving.

Ice climbing on a glacier will remain as one of the top activities I've ever done in my life. It was one of the most adventurous, scenic & adrenaline junky activities I've ever done! The views were insane the entire time. It was a steep hike but totally worth it. The equipment was in good condition and our guides were phenomenal. Both Rachel & Gina had so much knowledge and experience to share. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with each of them. We learned so much and felt so safe during the activity.Safety was definitely a top priority. I HIGHLY recommend ice climbing with exit glaciers and pairing it with kayaking at bear glacier with their sister company, liquid adventures. Thank you Gina & Rachel, and all the staff who made it such an incredible trip!

Our group booked the Exit Glacier Intro Climbing Tour and the Bear Glacier Kayak with their sister company liquid adventures package. I live in Alaska and my friends were coming up to visit me and these were by far the best adventure tours I have done since moving up here they were absolutely insane! All our guides were incredible. I felt extremely accomplished climbing as it was so far out of my comfort zone, but the guides walked me through how to do it. The hike up the mountain is not a stroll in the park but worth it. I will be recommending doing both activities to everyone who comes to Alaska.

I did the beginner ice climbing trip. My guides, Holly and Trevor, were incredible! They had so much knowledge to share about Exit Glacier and the surrounding area. They also explained everything from how to walk on the ice to actually climbing clearly and effectively. The views were incredible, and the experience was amazing. I’m so happy I checked off this bucket list item with Exit Glacier Guides! If I could give Holly and Trevor 6/5 stars, I would.

10/10 Recommend. My fiance and I had the sweetest time on the ice hiking adventure package with Exit Glacier Guides. The shop had gear that you could borrow at no charge, and provided a delicious lunch from the bbq place across the road. Ethan was our guide during the long day, and he was awesome! Picking berries off the trees for us to try, to describing the history of the glacier, and making us feel more than prepared to jump on the ice. He set the pace, and really ensured we had a great experience. I think the best part was the group was so small, only four of us total, and one of them was his mom! It really was a perfect day, and unrushed time on this epic glacier! Thanks guys!

Did the wolverine glacier repel with them. Starts off with a short helicopter ride feom there storefront in Seward over to the base of the glacier less then 5 minutes. Then our guide explains how to walk up the glacier, down and across. Once we got to the moulin that we would repel Rilley explained how to go down and then how to use the pic axes and come back up. She was an excellent guide very patient and encouraging. At the end you can also have an added on helicopter ride of 15 minutes. I highly recommend it.

I did the Ice Climbing expedition with Joe, Rachel, and Aiden. They were all really helpful with getting our gear on and making sure we were well prepared. After a strenuous hike up to marmot meadows, we went down a mountaineering trail and prepared to step onto the ice. It was my first time using crampons and the guides gave us a good mini-lesson! It was nerve wracking lowering yourself into the crevasses, but the guides were super helpful and communicative the whole time. Everyone got multiple chances to climb at two different locations. We then did a short hike to check out some cool features, filled up our bottles with meltwater directly from the glacier, and then returned to land. Id recommend this trip to anyone looking for a once in a lifetime excursion. Pro-tip: hit the stairmaster at the gym to train! My legs were quivering after crawling out of the 2nd crevasse!

Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge offers a customizable and independent adventure with the Fish and Fjords Explorer trip, which combines stays at Kenai Riverside Lodge and Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge. The lodge provides stunning views of the lagoon from its cabins, along with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Guests can enjoy various activities such as fishing on the Kenai River and exploring the rugged Alaskan seacoast. The lodge also offers delicious meals and gear for outdoor adventures.
KFGL is the thing I was most looking forward to on our Alaska adventure, and it did not disappoint. Every single staff member was amazing, knowledgeable, friendly, and truly enjoyed working there. We had great views of the lagoon from our cabin, but we were rarely in it. We stayed three nights, which was perfect for us as able-bodied people who like to be active. We had beautiful weather for most of the time, and they provide gear to help with the rain and mud. Be prepared for Rainforest weather, and have a good attitude about it. Plan on using the drying room; it's amazing (I brought washing sheets to wash my own clothes and dry them in the drying room, fantastic and so helpful for packing lighter on a long trip). The food was delicious and filling. We had a great time hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. The ridge hike is awesome if you are able and it is offered while you are there. The all day kayaking was amazing, especially when a humpback whale appeared in the bay with us. We also had the good fortune of seeing humpback whales bubble net feeding on the boat ride to the lodge. The sea otters and harbor seals are plentiful and adorable. The salmon and black bears were fun to see every day. As amateur birders, we had a great time identifying new species (download Merlin pack ahead of time since you won't have internet, but they have reference books in the lodge. We were also lucky enough to have ornithologist Moony as one of our guides to help with identifying birds. Thanks to all the guides for humoring all our questions. We had an amazing experience and cannot recommend it highly enough!

My mother and I just returned from our trip to Alaska. This was one of our favorite parts of the trip. The lodge itself is absolutely gorgeous! The staff is super accommodating, and the nature guides are fantastic with their knowledge. They are walking encyclopedias! The daily adventures that you can choose from were absolutely fantastic, and really show off the beauty and great wildlife. The view from the lodge itself is absolutely amazing, but I highly recommend getting around and checking out everything else they have to offer. I also highly recommend the sauna!

Got engaged here. 10/10 would do again. It's beautiful. Food is great, after hiking and being 'out there' you'll eat anything anyway. Plenty of bears. They're fine with people as long as you announce your presence. Our guides were A1. Knowledgeable and energetic. Just all around a great experience. I can't wait to come back for an anniversary. Mosquitos suck. Brave the nature. Go.

Wow, I could write an entire essay on how amazing this trip was! Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge is a one of a kind place. From the most considerate staff, to enjoyable and action packed adventures, comfortable beds and beautiful, breathtaking views, a stay at KFGL needs to be on your list when in Seward. The boat ride is only a few hours, and the captains we had, were not only nice, but so informative, too. They would stop the boat to see wildlife, illustrating how much they cared to make our experience even better. During our stay at KFGL, we were met with delicious, warm, freshly cooked meals throughout the day. It was so nice to come inside from kayaking and be met with a bowl of soup or a cup of hot chocolate. All of our guides were over the top, providing knowledge on their experiences and being able to answer just about every question any of us had. Their expertise was intriguing and inspired me to come back home to California and continue my research about the fjords and wildlife within the area. Special shoutout to our guides Grace (who took me paddle boarding), Reece, Grace (who’s parents came to visit), Mooney, and other staff members, Gabe, Vi, and other managers and cooking staff! Also, if you stay here, definitely check out their sauna. It’s in the forest and provides an additional level of refreshment at the end of the day. The nature walk is so worth it! Not only do you get to try unique local Alaskan berries, but you learn so much about old grow versus new growth, birds, the bears in the area, ghost trees, and more! Anyways, the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge is a magical, transformative place. I fully miss my time there, and I am looking forward to my next visit.

I liked my time at this lodge, but there really wasn't much to do since I don't do canoeing or kayaking, and I don't enjoy hiking in the mud. The staff was great. The cabins were small but comfortable. And the food was excellent.

Trip of a lifetime! My wife and I went to KFGL for our babymoon. We wanted adventures in the daytime, and relaxation in the evenings. They delivered! We kayaked up to a glacier, and saw a bald eagle fishing. The lodge staff made sure we were comfortable in rain or shine. Pro tip: Don't be afraid to try something new. The professional guides make it easy to kayak or canoe your way around the park.

Mount Marathon is a steep peak in Seward, Alaska, offering picturesque vistas and challenging hiking trails. The mountain is famous for its annual Independence Day race, where elite athletes from around the world compete in a three-mile dash to the summit and back. With a vertical gain of about 3,022 feet in just 0.9 miles, the race course presents a grueling challenge.
Super awesome hike very difficult though when it's snow covered, which it is in May through early June. Bring spikes and poles if you want to summit

It was a wonderful mountain. There are steep roads, so please choose carefully the way.

Incredible view at the top - worth the hike (which has good views along the way), but BRING GLOVES and several layers. Sharp rocks near the top, and it was warm the whole August day, but the wind picked up when were at the top and it got painful quickly.

So worth the climb!! Definitely a tough ascent and decent! I did it with my 11 and 15 year old brothers and my dad. Lives up to the challenge but it does create amazing memories and stories to tell!

So funny, I read where someone wrote, "I almost died here"...that's how I felt coming down. I thought how are we going to get back down without tumbling and breaking our necks. I was wrong. There are small rocks that you can walk on that give as you walk down which makes it easier to keep your balance. It was long and hard but so worth it! Our kids are 15 and 12 and they made it just fine. If you take breaks along the way you will be fine. Wear comfortable boots/shoes for sure. When you think you can't keep going...you can. So make sure you get to the top!

Ray's Waterfront is a renowned dining spot in Seward, Alaska, offering inventive seafood and steak dishes in a charming wood-paneled dining room with breathtaking views of the marina and mountains. The restaurant is celebrated for its focus on locally caught seafood, including specialties like clam chowder and seafood pasta. Visitors can enjoy the freshest seafood as fishing boats unload right at the dock.
We had an incredible dining experience! The food, service, and views were all exceptional. Although we had to wait a bit due to the dinner rush, it was absolutely worth it, as this was one of the best meals we've had in Alaska. We tried the Seafood chowder, Clams, Seafood linguine, and Alaskan Crab Legs, all of which were fantastic. The sourdough bread was a standout too! I highly recommend Rays and I’m already looking forward to our next visit!

WOW! We were so pleased with our experience! We had 9:30p reservations & we were not rushed at all! The menu offered a great selection along with the daily specials. We liked the suggested wine pairing. Justin H. was very attentive & professional. The seafood was fresh & cooked perfectly. We enjoyed the chocolate cake to go-don’t skip this!

While on an Anchorage tour, a couple recommended Ray's as a good place to eat in Seward. They were not wrong. My husband and I shared oysters, seafood chowder and fish with chips. Everything was delicious and tasted so fresh. Stan, our server, was professional and friendly. He provided excellent service. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Music was just the right level so talking was very easy. And the view is incredible.

Stopped by for a large family style meal with friends. We tried many items across the menu, as well as the suggested wine pairing — everything was super delicious. We stopped in around dinner time with no reservation, and as a group of 5 we were seated in one of the best seats in the house immediately. Service was fantastic, and the whole group regarded this meal as one of the best we had in AK. I will be back given the opportunity!

We got a great booth overlooking the water and had a wonderful time!! If you are visiting Seward you should come here. HOWEVER…if you ARE NOT in a hurry, you need to intentionally order slowly because the food comes out fast. So if you’re trying to relax just order a couple things at a time and do not put in your order all at once. We ordered slowly and they didn’t rush us and we had a great time! We had lots of wine and super yummy seafood. The staff was friendly and we would def go back!

Definitely the best seafood and views in the area. We had crab and artichoke dip appetizer, the halibut fish & chips, and seafood Alfredo. Everything was tasty, and hot. The service was good. We came for a late lunch but I think this place can get very busy at dinner time.

The Cookery is a modern New American eatery and oyster bar located in the heart of Seward. It's known for its refined seafood plates, craft beer, and wine selection. The restaurant offers Alaskan fine-casual dining with a menu featuring locally sourced meats, produce from the Kenai Peninsula, and foraged ingredients for a unique local flavor.
Fantastic Dining Experience at The Cookery Probably the best and most elegant food we’ve had so far between Anchorage and Seward. The flavors were delicate and well-balanced — no greasy, overcooked dishes here. The carrot soup was rich and delicious, and the halibut was perfectly cooked. Great atmosphere and genuinely friendly service made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend.

Well worth the price and wait time. About $40 per person and 30 minute wait time. Their dishes are packed with seafood. Every single menu we ordered had so much seafood that it was so flavorful and protein rich. The salmon dip is a must-try, where the salmon dip and the cucumber combination is extraordinary.
Moonyoung L — Google review
This place is the top restaurant in Alaska! The menu is so balanced, tasty and not heavy for your stomach. You can see that the chef spend time to build the menu, spend time on every dish presentation. It has interesting positions, and my top is fish (both types), oysters and the deserts. This is the first place, where I got back twice during the trip. I think they are always fully occupied and there is no option to reserve a table in advance. I would highly recommend to come 10-15 minutes before they are opening and you will have a high chance to get a table without a wait

We spent four nights in Seward and, by far, The Cookery was the best restaurant we visited. If you’re looking for the freshest seafood Steward has to offer, cooked perfectly, then this place is a must. We started with the shrimp cocktail and the seafood chowder. For our main course, we opted for the fish of the day, which was salmon, of course. To cleanse our palates, we ended the meal with a shared dessert of Chocolate Coconut Sorbet.
Tom B — Google review
Best restaurant in Seward by far. Enjoyed every dish we had. Went back for two nights! High quality ingredients, good preparation, unique and interesting recipes. Our server, Brandon, was friendly, efficient and attentive -couldn’t ask for better service. Nice contemporary space with a classy, relaxed vibe. A much-needed reprieve from the old-timey diner/grungy woodsy vibe at other restaurants in town. Prices are in line with other sit-down restaurants in town, but with much better food and ambience. Note that they don’t do online/advance reservations. That has its downsides, but it does allow for a much wider range of people to try their cooking. So factor in wait times if you don’t arrive by 5/5:30 PM. Their system for walk-up reservations was very efficient; you could track how many parties were ahead of you. Highly, highly recommend!
Tina D — Google review
This was our favorite meal during our Alaska trip. The oysters were very fresh and naturally sweet, and the seafood dishes were all well-prepared. They have a fresh catch menu. The halibut we had was also nicely cooked and paired with sauces/other ingredients that were more thoughtful than other places. Overall, a very good dining experience and much better than some of the popular spots we tried in Anchorage like Glacier Brewhouse and Kincaid Grill.
Cold L — Google review
Had a lovely dinner here with good service. A bit overpriced for its quality, which is expected of Seward. The oysters and spot shrimps were super fresh and delicious. The cream cheese ice cream was good as well. The (free) amuse bouche was very underwhelming. Not a fan of the shrimp n grits—shrimps and sauce were great, but the combination of grits and nuts did not work for me. Also tried the strawberry nojito, which will be a skip for me. If I go again, I’d order exclusively from the appetizers/seafood list and the fresh sheet Note that this place is extremely popular and does not take reservations. Tried to go right when they open and leave your name on the waitlist

We just finished our dinner at The Cookery, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Good food, excellent service and an overall great vibe! Over 100 fishing and tour boats depart from here for adventures in the Kenai Fjords.

The harbour is well located on the main Seward street, however, it doesn't have a good arrangement for people standing in queue and you will get drenched in rain while waiting to board the cruise. Carry an umbrella and it will definitely be of help. The place itself is very scenic and beautiful, so a must visit!

If you're looking to launch your boat or watch some wildlife then the Seward Boat Harbor is a great place to visit. The Seward Boat Harbor is a great place to launch a boat or even a kayak. The boat launch is located near the Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center on 4th Street and the kayak launch is located at the Northeast corner of the Seward Boat Harbor. Parking is a pain, so you will need some coins or a credit card to pay for time. The Seward Boat Harbor is home to wildlife including sea otters. If the sun is bright you can see fry swimming in gigantic numbers below the catwalks. Occasionally a bald eagle will sit on a tall light pole looking for fish too. The Seward Boat Harbor is a great resource, but the sad reality is the expansion many years ago removed a significant amount of beach. The beach was a great place to snag King Salmon. While the fishing near the Seward Boat Harbor isn't the same the expansion did modernize and expand the Seward Boat Harbor capacity.

Cozy coffee cafe with many coffee options along with breakfast/snack items. I had the brioche with eggs and bacon as well as chocolate chip sea salt cookies and both were great. Coffee was so good I visited both times while here on vacation and liked the local art displayed.

Absolutely adore this coffee shop that was recommended to us on our trip to Seward. This place has such a cool vibe. Super welcoming to all. Low key. Fantastic coffee and fresh pastries. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Alaska and would love to rent the parsonage on the property.

Neatest coffee house I’ve ever been to. Everything is made fresh and priced reasonably well. Local artists have pieces for sale that you can browse through. People that work there are very personable and friendly. Can tell they take pride in their small town. Definitely will be going back. Cozy atmosphere.

Sadly we weren't able to experience the coffee of this rad place, but I still wanted to take the time to recommend because they still deserve it. The line from the start was OUT THE DOOR on a Saturday morning in Seward, but my fiancé and I were able to tuck away in the upstairs loft area and take in the space. It is so unique! I might not have had a cup of coffee in my hand, but I know it would have been exceptional matching the environment. One other thing I noticed is that there is a separate line for the locals of Seward, and the coffeehouses appreciation to their business throughout the cold winters. Such a great concept. If you're in Seward, make a stop here, and drink a cappuccino in my honor :)

Hiking Trails
The Harding Icefield Trailhead is a popular and challenging 8.2-mile hike in Kenai Fjords National Park. The trail climbs steeply, gaining 1,000 feet of elevation for every mile, offering stunning views of the glacier and icefield below. Hikers can expect to pass through forests, meadows, and above the tree line. While some parts of the trail have cell service, it's recommended to be prepared for limited connectivity.
First, you should really do entire trail, go to the end of the trail it’s really worth it. The first hike marmot hills or whatever is ok, top of the cliff is good but it’s even better and a different view at the end of the trail. The hike is long but not actually super difficult just really long like climbing a ton of stairs. I have video of the hike at many points along the trail if you want to see whether or not it’s difficult for you, but I didn’t think it was too bad.
Allen L — Google review
Moderate hike to the top, about 7-8 hours roundtrip. Well worth it at the end of the trail for the panoramic view of the Harding Icefield! I did this trail solo in 2005 and again with my wife in 2021. Took a pic at the shack on both occasions to compare!
Daniel H — Google review
A very magical and surreal hike. Start in the forest and end up in Antarctica. At the ranger station, I was told "lots of bears and snow," but the ranger didn't explicitly say not to go further after Marmot Meadows. There was still lots of snow at the end of June and the trail ascent after Top of the Cliffs is completely covered by snow. Not many went further after Marmot Meadows. If you're questioning whether to go further up the trail and are not sure about whether the conditions are safe to go up the incline with the snow, well, I watched a guy hike up the slope wearing a short sleeve t-shirt and a cowboy hat with no hiking boots or poles. He brought himself up through the snow when he slipped with his bare hands. Most of the other hikers I saw past Marmot Meadows didn't have poles or ice cleats and they seemed to be fine. It's easier to slide down from the mountain in the snow on your ass (seems scary as you look down from the ridge, but it's really fun and thrilling!). There were snow slide paths from earlier hikers that can guide you down. You'll stop sliding far before the edge! Look for bootprints in the snow to find the trail back down to Marmot Meadows. I descended at around 3:30pm and didn't see anyone else heading up from Marmot Meadows. Lots of other solo female hikers. There were enough people on the trail the day I went to scare away bears, but still be prepared for anything in Alaska. I hiked for almost an hour alone before seeing another hiker on the trail down and didn't encounter any bears.
Gabrielle P — Google review
I am writing this for everyone who has either small kids or spouses who do not want to put effort. I was thinking twice whether I can complete before noon and I did it, even with moderate hiking skills. Got to the parking lot at 6.30, started hike alone , with many stops I got up to the end of the hike by 9.30 am - I was alone in the hiking trail and was able to see marmots, white mountain goats etc. It was absolutely stunning, spent an hour up there and walked back and got to parking lot by noon. No hiking boots or pole , keep couple water bottles and snacks.. enjoy
Ratheesh K — Google review
With many stops for pictures and picnics, it took us 8hrs all in all. If you're fit and don't stop for pictures or lunch, it will take you less than 7 hrs. Even kids older than 8 can do this hike. I recommend going until the top even if there's snow. The views were worth it. We also saw black bears and marmots. We went first week of July 2025 for reference. Go early because parking is limited. There's also water refilling station in the visitor center
Ye Y — Google review

Hard!! But extremely rewarding at the end! Bring trekking poles, your knees will thank you on your way down. P.s. start your way down before 3pm

A truly amazing hiking trail. It has 3 sections. We’ve hiked to the top, end of the trail. About 8.5 miles round trip. It is not that hard. But it does has lots of stairs, and it was very slippery, no restroom on the way except at the visitor center. Be cautious this park has some bears, we saw 2 bears far away, and also many big marmots on the way, we’ve been to about 20 US’s national parks, this one probably my fav and the most beautiful national park among them. Especially after rainy the sun came out, it became like in a fairy tale, picturesque like a painting.

Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center is a must-see destination in Seward, Alaska. The park, established in 1980, covers 587,000 acres and features the massive Harding Icefield from which numerous tidewater glaciers flow into coastal fjords. Visitors can enjoy guided marine life and glacier cruises to witness calving glaciers and marine wildlife up close or go on whale-watching excursions. Seward serves as a popular starting point for kayaking trips within the park.

This information and visitor center for the national park is located in the heart of the town amidst all the day cruise companies. It’s easily accessible and has about two rangers helping out with the maps and other purchases. The boat was very clean and maintained. Heated cabins with a view and open decks allow you to move all over the deck to catch the best views. The crew and Captain interacted with us alot and were energetic to make us feel welcome. I can't wait to take my whole family next year!

J-Dock Fishing Co. in Alaska is highly recommended for a fantastic fishing experience. Visitors with little to no fishing experience found it to be their favorite day of the week out of five different charters they went on. The crew, especially on The Predator with Kyle and his deckhands, was patient and created a professional yet fun environment. Another visitor described their trip as the coolest charter trip ever, despite slow fishing due to early season.
We had a great time with J-Dock on a multi species trip…great memories with my sons. I forget the name of the young captain, but he and the deck hands did a great job of getting us on to fish and knew how to have fun. We sent 60lbs of mostly salmon back home. Everything arrived frozen and vacuum sealed properly. Shipping was steep, but it was worth the convenience of not trying get it on the plane. Good job J-Dock!

J-Dock Fishing was a fabulous experience. The crew was amazing and so fun to fish with. We moved to several fishing sites in Resurrection Bay with lots of success with Rockfish and pacific codfish. The company vacuum packs and ships your fish overnight UPS on the date you pick. The shipping boxes are incremental in weight you pay for. If the amount of fish you catch leaves extra room in your shipment box I recommend purchasing some wonderful fish from the J-Docks store to fill it the rest of the way. Shipment came with no problems, no thawing in August and 100 degree weather. Great job guy!!
Rose K — Google review
Went out for a Combo trip with the J-Docks team and had a blast on the Predator. Our Capt Kyle put us on the fish and had us laughing the entire time. The Crew was also amazing - those gents ran around the boat - gaffing fish and marking them accordingly. When we got back to the docks, the Processing team was there to help anyone out with shipment needs. Absolutely loved that this was another offering J-Docks had. Simple, easy, and fish was at the door about 24 hrs after we completed our charter. Be aware with shipping that if you want to have your fish labeled or skinned, there are some minor additional costs - but in the grand scheme of things, that's nothing. Would 1000% book another charter with these guys. Just gotta get back up to AK for it.

From checkin until docked after our fishing adventure, staff were great! A special shoutout to our fishing charter crew: Captain Zach, Ben and Isaac (woo woo). Especially Zach and woo woo, remained energetic and involved throughout the entire trip! Despite some of us feeling queasy and weather was a bit less desirable and rough waters-they remained excited and got us all regrouped and fishing throughout the trip! They seemed to have a goal and we all caught halibut and other species! Knew us all by name and made sure everyone got attention. They are very efficient and good at their job! Thank you!

We had a FANTASTIC time on the Predator with Capt. Kyle and Deck hands Jack and Spencer, These guys took care of the entire team, we had 12 onboard and they went above and beyond to make sure everyone on board was on fish. We had a great day fishing on a beautiful day. Thank you for the memories! This was our first year fishing in Seward and I wish we knew or was informed about the Derby contest prior, Our team would have won with our 33” 19# Silver 🤷🏻‍♂️😎… Next year!!!

My son and I did the half day non Halibut trip. Fishing was excellent. We caught some Kings and silvers, and all the rock fish we could. Captain and crew were great, made it fun and exciting. Young guys that work hard to be sure everyone is catching and having fun. Great instructions and helping everyone who needs it. I would highly recommend to everyone including friends and family.

We had a great experience with J-dock! There were 7 in our group - most with no deep sea experience. Captain Kyle was awesome and got us where we needed to be to catch 186 pounds of halibut, rockfish and salmon - and at the end of the season! The deck hands - Andrew and Bryson - were running all over the place helping our group bring in the fish and re-bait and cast our lines - always with a smile and encouraging word as we each learned how to fish for the different species. The fish were cleaned and ready to go by the time we got back to land. I'm already ready to go again! Awesome experience!

We went out on 2 full day trips with J dock, captain Zach on the first trip was awesome. Him and his crew worked hard to get us our limits of halibut and rock fish. They kept the positive energy the entire trip. Very fun and professional crew. The second trip was with captain Will, a very unusual guy but hilarious to fish with. Him and his crew got me my personal best halibut and the picture of me holding it will hang in my living room the rest of my life! They shipped back 90 pounds of fish the day I got home from alaska and I can't say enough good things about this experience. Highly recommend J dock if you're fishing in Seward Alaska

The Exit Glacier Trailhead offers a challenging yet rewarding hike through alpine meadows to an epic viewpoint above the glacier. The Harding Icefield trail continues to Marmot Meadows, offering stunning views of the glacier and the expansive Harding icefield. The trail features diverse landscapes, from thick forests and meadows to rocky terrains. Visitors can observe markers indicating the glacier's recession over the years before embarking on the hike.
Early May trip right after the road opened, so plenty of parking and not crowded. It was an easy hike that you can make more challenging if you want. It was incredible to see the loss over time and glacial melt. Definitely recommend, the drive there itself is amazing.

Super easy trail that leads to the bottom of the glacier. There are a few signs that describe how glaciers are created and show how far out the glacier used to be. Awesome hike for beginners! The visitor center has a lot of information about the glacier as well as souvenirs.
Kat M — Google review
Great hike to the bottom of the glacier. Very easy, there are a few different easy paths, some out and back and also a large loop trail. You can walk out into the outwash plain which was very neat.

Fantastic hike to the foot of the exit glacier. It is wild to see the plaques, as you hike closer, of where the glacier was in different years! The trail starts very flat until the last half a mile or so where you will have to climb a little. All of the overlooks are incredible and I recommend climbing closer to the river so clockwise! This trailhead can also lead you to the top of the Harding Icefield

Great attraction if you want to see a receding glacier. The trails are easy to hike. You can walk through the old path of exit glacier and see the rocks carved out from the ice. The visitor center is nice too. The roads in are a bit bumpy though so watch for that!

Fun! If I’d properly researched i’d have made this an all day trip and done the 8 mile trail to get to the base of the glacier. Instead, I did not arrive until after a boat tour and sewer and opted for the one and a half mile hike. Half of it is paid but didn’t get to the good view. You need to be able to climb a little bit. My eight-year-old ran ahead and loved it
Katy F — Google review
I was here in 2005 and after hiking up to the glacier view, I was shocked there was no glacier close-up surface to see. Wow! How far it has receded! Also, when you were on the overwash field below, you could literally touch the foot of the glacier altho signs warned of danger. Glad I got to see it back then. It's a beautiful hike up with a couple rushing streams and rocky steps to climb. Most people in average to good shape can navigate, but may be abit challenging for older people or those who rarely hike. Definitely more of a reward years ago. I doubt if I'll ever be back as the glacier is making It's "exit" out of existence.

I absolutely loved this trail. The views were absolutely amazing. It was quite an easy trail, so it’s great if you want a low-key trail with great views.

Experience the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska's Kenai Fjords National Park with AA Seward Air Tours. This bush plane company offers scenic flightseeing tours to four different glaciers, with the option for a glacier landing on Harding Icefield. The small group tours provide an intimate adventure and a rare opportunity to witness the stunning beauty from above. Customers have praised the fantastic pilot, Joey, who ensures a comfortable and enjoyable experience, even spotting wildlife like black bears and bull moose during the tour.
While visiting Seward, AK, my wife and I flew with AA Seward Air Tours on their Bear Glacier scenic flight. They advertise this trip as “Incredible” but that may be an understatement. It was more than incredible. AA Seward Air Tours is a small, family business that provides a very personal experience. Joey who runs the business and flys the tours gives a great commentary and explanation of what you are viewing. As a retired Delta Air Lines Captain, I can say Joey is a very safe, competent pilot and extremely professional. If you are in the Seward area please do not miss a chance to fly with Joey on this amazing tour. Flying over the Bear Glacier and the Harding Ice Field is just otherworldly.

We did the Aialik glacier landing flight and to echo what everyone else has said, it was truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I almost chickened out right before the flight, but I’m so glad I didn’t. I felt totally safe the entire time and I can’t imagine having missed out on this experience. Getting to chat with Joey and learning about the area from him was a treat - one of the many bonuses of supporting a local family business. If you can only do one adventure during your time in Seward, make it this one. (But if you can do more than one, do this and a kayaking trip to bear glacier with liquid adventures - it was so cool to see the glacier lagoon from both angles). I’d also recommend scheduling your flight early in your trip in case they need to reschedule due to weather (this happened with our flight which underscored their commitment to safety and we ended up flying on our last day in Seward). Book the flight and don’t look back!!! 100000% worth it

Joey was fantastic! My first time to Alaska and my first time in a Cessna and it did not disappoint! Joey and team were accommodating when scheduling our flight around other travel plans and day of was super smooth. Landing on a glacier was a wonderful experience but the real highlight was just enjoying the views during our flight and getting to hear about the Seward area and glaciers. I would highly recommend booking with this company- specifically the Aialik Glacier Scenic flight and Glacier Landing.

Absolutely stunning! We did the scenic ride with the bear glacier landing and it was breath taking. The pilot likely took our Christmas card photo! The plane is small but thanks to the incredible staff and pilot we felt safe the whole flight. We saw wildlife, the beautiful glacier, and all around Seward! We would recommend this trip again and again! A special shout out to Cessi the pre flight pup!
Blair B — Google review
Awesome experience!! We did the Bear Glacier tour and had a great time. Joey is a really good pilot and got us right up close to the glacier, icebergs, and wildlife including mountain goats. Highly recommend!!
Ryan P — Google review
This flight tour is highly recommended! Joey is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and took us to see several glaciers, spot bears catching fish, and discover a stunning emerald-green lake. It was absolutely beautiful and an unforgettable experience.

This tour was top notch !! Joey runs a very updated skywagon taildragger that’s very dependable and super safe!! He’s done this so many times and it’s obvious when you’re cruising around as he knows all the cool routes in and around the canyons, passes and glaciers! We saw 3 separate glacier calvings and a grizzly eating salmon in a little creek!! You’ll have the time of your life!! Guaranteed!!!! Obviously as long as the weather cooperates!! Thanks a million Joey!!!

We had a blast kayaking through the ice bergs off of Bear Glacier, and Liquid Adventures were awesome, so happy we booked with them for this adventure. Alex and James were an amazing duo guide and boat pilot. They both were incredibly professional and friendly. They were tremendous guides who were fun, and made sure the whole group was enjoying itself. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

Unforgettable experience with some of Alaska’s most incredible wildlife! Our guide Anna and Captain Ryan were fantastic—they gave our family a memory we’ll treasure for a lifetime. We saw countless puffins on the way out and then had the surreal experience of kayaking beside a glacier. The grand finale? Watching humpback whales bubble-net feeding right in front of us. The included lunch was delicious, and the homemade brownies were a perfect touch. Don’t hesitate—book this tour now!

Our kayaking trip to Bear Glacier was AMAZING!! Our guides Kristen & Nora were so knowledgeable and kind. They took lots of pictures of us & even offered brownies and hot chocolate. We had plenty of time to kayak, take pictures, and take in the amazing views. Thank you liquid adventures for a great trip.
Cassidy B — Google review
Liquid adventures was an incredible tour company. We'd rank the #1 activity to do in Seward, Alaska is the Bear Glacier Kayak Tour with Liquid Adventures. We were in a small, 6-person group that had the entire glacier and icebergs to ourselves. We felt like we were on a different planet! I don't know many places in the world where you can have such a unique experience in nature. Kristen, our guide, was patient, knowledgeable, and talented. One set of people in our group were not the strongest kayakers and she navigated the gaps in kayaking skill effortlessly. I would say it'd be helpful to have kayaked before if going on this trip. While it is not a requirement, it'd make it much more enjoyable. Overall, I cannot recommend the Bear Glacier Kayak Tour by Liquid Adventures more highly. A wonderful "must-do" activity!
Mary G — Google review
A MUST DO!!!! Absolutely loved it. My Dad, son and I did the Emerald Coast Trip. We were super lucky to have James as our guide, he was amazing. He taught us so much and was great with my son talking to him and answer every question. We had a porpoise swim up next to us!!! I can’t recommend Liquid Adventures enough. Also the boat ride out and back was great.
Timothy F — Google review
We did the small boat tour with kayaking to Holgate glacier! It was a spectacular day with amazing views and wildlife spotting. They provided dry pants, booties, and spray skirt. The food was great with legit vegetarian options. Our guide (Kristen) and boat captain (Paul) did a fantastic job of teaching us about the glacier and wildlife. I would do this trip again!
Amy H — Google review
AMAZING and unforgettable experiences with Liquid Adventures, highly recommended! We did wildlife and kayaking tour, but there was North wind that prevented us to drop the kayak but we still got to see two glaciers up close. The captain and guides were knowledgeable, shared interesting facts about Kenai Fjord. They prioritized our safety and made sure we still had great experience. They were also accommodative to help us plan another trip to kayak in the glacier so we did the heli and kayak tour. It was unbelievable!! The heli trip was so beautiful, and we kayak for about 3 hours in the glacier. The guide made sure we navigated the ice safely and got to soak up the serene beauty of the bear glacier. We are so grateful for everyone at the Liquid Adventures! We also met people who have done trips for 5 times, validating our great experience with this company. If you are in Seward, definitely go with Liquid Adventures!

My wife and I did the Bear Glacier Heli and Jetboat Kayak Tour. The experience was incredible and we had an absolute blast. Our Guide Ian was awesome, very knowledgable, straightforward with directions and easy to be around. Kayaking around in a place that truly might one day be gone was a memorable and true once in a lifetime experience. Ian made sure you had the proper amount of respect and perspective for the uniqueness of the moment. Thank you Ian. well done. Most impressive from a Service perspective was that we encountered a problem with our boat in the morning. Literally the entire crew came out wanting to fix it, which they did in record time and in the meantime the team was already preparing back up options. Instead of losing an hour due to this issue the team rearranged their schedules so we could get our full on experience in Bear Glacier. Thank you again Liquid team and Ian!!! Can’t speak highly enough about how professional this team was - kind - genuinely concerned in making our day a great experience and when the problem arose they did an incredible job to deal with something that is outside their control. Seward is an expensive place to come to but if you chose to go - go with Liquid for some adventure - they care and appreciate you. Florian & Elysha Flower Mound, Texas Visited September 4th 2025

Mt. Marathon Trailhead is the starting point for a challenging hike that offers panoramic views of Seward and Resurrection Bay. The trail leads to the Marathon Bowl, a hilly area with a river flowing through it, providing stunning scenery. Additionally, visitors can explore the Exit Glacier Nature Center and hike around the glacier's former location, offering an up-close experience with this receding natural wonder. Mt.
Not for the faint of heart! Even the jeep trail is quite the challenge! Trail is snow free by mid- to late-june and offers exceptional views out over Resurrection bay — at a steep price. Although overall less challenging than the runners trail the jeep trail to the summit is not to be trifled with. The first section through the woods and the push to the summit are exceptionally steep. Be prepared with plenty of water and sunscreen. Would recommend starting early and as with any Alaska trail practice bear safety and bring bear spray.

This is a beautiful hike! I would highly recommend taking the long way around, coming up the jeep trail side, for safety. It is a challenging hike but offers some beautiful views overlooking Seward from the top!

The race was really adrenaline and happy enthusiasm in the city. I can say that everyone was happy, lots of people were supporting their friends, partners, family etc , . Lots of food was available all around street food, food trucks , there were lots of different sorts of food, rhubarb cakes, hot dogs, sausages, barbecue, cheese curds, sloppy Joe, Definitely great experience, fun, supportive mood. Some guys did the trail in 40 minutes in total . I don't know how they did it, hat down. Congratulations 🎊

Beautiful views and a stunning meadow as you hike out of thick willow brush and creeks and emerge to see a vast mountain meadow just below the crags. Jeep/Bench/Skyline trail are interconnected, and the system links via a few early cutoffs to the famed Mt. Marathon race trail. The Jeep and Bench trails offer a more gradual climb with some flat areas to stop and rest and check out big views of Seward from a few thousand feet up. On sunny, clear summer days, watch out for big winds that can whip up on the crags near the race summit of Mt. Marathon. The day I went in mid-July, it was 70 degrees and sunny at the trailhead. But up near the race summit, I was dealing with 55 - 75 mph gusts and sustained winds of 50 miles an hour whistling along the north face of the mountain. If you are sweaty from the climb, that wind is like a giant blowdrier that'll dry you off completely in a few minutes. But hold on to your hat, glasses, phone, camera, Snickers wrapper, or whatever. You could lose a few items in the gale.
Neil J — Google review
Absolutely wonderful hike! Got about 850-950 ft up the mountain and took the pics posted. Could see all the way to south end bay. Good hiking shoes needed if wet as there are some elevation changes and some water crossings. None are difficult yet the traction would help. Really enjoyed and would go again!
Kevin S — Google review
Quite a strenuous but very rewarding hike with wonderful views. We did an out and back hike all the way up on the hiking trails instead of going back down the runners trail, which I would recommend as that is very steep. It was super muddy when we went so prepare accordingly if it’s raining. Great for a challenge!
Gabriella — Google review
The day we went in the beginning of August was incredibly cloudy. We took the Jeep route instead of the racing route, as recommended by locals for safety. The trail starts off VERY steep with some loose rock, and then it turns into a nice pine bed trail. We took bear spray with us as we didn't see one person the whole time we were hiking. There is a cute waterfall along the way. To get to the end of the jeep trail, once you come out of the trees, only take maybe an hour even with stops. Then you can continue on a single-trek overgrown trail (bench trail). Definitely would have been better if there were no clouds so we could continue up and see the views. You only need an hour to get to the end of Jeep Trail, but look at reviews from clear days if you're going to the top!
Leah R — Google review
Ok, I gave in...4 stars because looking back at the pictures it was incredible! However, I definitely need to warn folks (as the signage suggests) that this is a difficult hike. Myself, and my 68 yo (very in shape) father took 6 hours to complete this (making it up the rocky steep portion past the bowl) but not to the race point. It was not too bad on the way up in regards to the potential for getting lost....BUT, we somehow got lost on the way back and it was quite frightening. Only thanks to an angel did we make it back onto the Jeep trail on the way down, but only after really roughing it in the mud and down very steep inclines (I suspect we ended up on a part of the racers trail). I can't say that we're the most experienced hikers in the planet, but just reader beware, if you attempt this start EARLY, and don't expect there will be folks on the trail to help navigate, granted we went after the "season" ended (9/28) and saw a grand total of 2 people.

I friggin loved it. The staff are friendly and upbeat. You feel very safe with the whole thing, minus the wooden bridges. They were a tiny bit slippery. You go on 8 zip lines, do 2 repel’s, and cross 3 wooden suspended bridges! I really enjoyed the whole thing. I wish they took pictures for you to have or buy. Make sure you dress for the weather, it does get windy up in the trees.

My husband and I were lucky enough to have Caelum Gant and Alex Carrigan as our own personal guides. The experience was amazing!!! Caelum was very knowledgeable of the forest and ecosystem and Alex’s sense of humor is developing nicely into dad jokes. They were so much fun to be with and made us feel safe and adventurous at the same time. The scenery is unbeatable and the adrenaline rush is worth every penny. We even had some light rain to make the experience even more Alaska-like. We cannot recommend this experience enough!

Marathon Helicopters is a tour operator in Seward, Alaska that offers scenic flightseeing tours over remarkable landscapes. Every seat on their helicopters provides a window view, and they offer tours ranging from 30 minutes to an hour. Visitors can enjoy flying over glaciers and getting stunning views of Seward from above. Additionally, the company offers special experiences such as sunset flights to glaciers and opportunities for activities like hiking on glaciers or kayaking in glacier lagoons.
Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. We booked our helicopter glacier tour with Marathon Helicopters back in April, and every part of the process—from communication to the actual flight—was smooth, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Kat and Kalani, the ground crew, were amazing. We could have hung out in their office all day just talking with them. They were warm, funny, knowledgeable, and made us feel at ease right away. They even gave us some great restaurant recommendations. That kind of energy is rare and made a big impression. Mike, the owner and pilot, was outstanding. Not only a skilled pilot but a great guide—narrating the flight with the right balance of insight and letting the scenery speak for itself. We saw mountain goats, a bald eagle, and landed on a beach surrounded by icebergs at Bear Glacier. It was absolutely unforgettable. We’re so glad we chose an owner-operated company. You can feel the passion and pride in every part of the experience. Mike is clearly doing everything right—this is how a business should run.

I will never forget how breathtaking the views are on the tours we took with Marathon Helicopters. This has topped any place I have ever seen. I think it far outshines even the Grand Canyon and my former, yes now former favorite, the White Sands National Park. You will see sights that are so amazing, sights that could never be seen without being in the air. We landed on a glacier where Mike, our very professional pilot, added a fun surprise by making snow cones for us from the perfectly pure ice of the glacier. What fun! We also landed at Bear Glacier where there are many icebergs in a lake that are spectacular to see with their beautiful cyan color. We felt very confident with Mike as our pilot, knowing he has been flying in the area for at least 10 years. He did indeed show professionalism such as when we approached a certain area, he told us that it can get a little choppy as it sometimes is in that particular area. Telling us ahead added to the confidence that he knows the area well. We also loved Mike's warm and personable personality. His staff in the office are real gems too. Both Kalani and Kat are welcoming and friendly. I got the vibe that they love their job and love working with Mike. I will be recommending Marathon Helicopters tours to everyone that I know that might be visiting Seward as a must do, number 1 over anything else. P.S. Zoom in on the photo with the snow cone before we added the flavoring to see how the ice looks like crystals. Amazing!

We booked the 45 minute tour with an additional landing on a beach and one on top of the mountain. Mike was a great pilot and narrator. He flew us over many glaciers, one of which we were able to catch calving! It was stunningly beautiful and Mike knew all the places to see. We landed on a beautiful beach so we could get an up close view of a glacier as well as all the beautiful ice chunks (icebergs?) and experience the serenity of the landscape. We then chose to land on top of a mountain (the other choice was close to the edge of a glacier so we possibly touch it). Again, an amazing experience. Would highly recommend this company for any flight experience in the Seward area.

Had an outstanding experience with Marathon Helicopters. We took a 30-minute tour with Mike around Bear Glacier and would highly recommend it. The staff was patient in explaining options and the process before we booked. Mike is the owner of Marathon and has been flying in the Seward area for 12+ years, so we felt very comfortable in exploring the area in his helicopter. Breathtaking views that couldn't have been seen any other ways - certainly worth checking out.

Being a solo traveler presented many challenges with flying... Not for Kalani of Marathon Helicopters! She did everything in her power to get me on a flight before my vacation was over. The real cherry on top was that I was paired with some folks that arranged a glacier landing... SO AWESOME! Marathon Helicopters, if you're reading this, give Kalani a big, beautiful raise! This woman is a master of sales, punctuality, customer relations, and knowledge; a wonderful, spirited person. Mike was a great pilot too. All in all, one of the coolest rides of my life! No better way to see the glaciers, fjords, and wildlife. I'll gladly support this business again in the future. Thank you!!!

Nestled close to the toe of the glacier, Exit Glacier Campground offers a rustic yet well-maintained camping experience. The only formal campground in the area, it provides 12 designated spots, two of which are wheelchair accessible. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful sounds of the nearby river while falling asleep at this tent-only campground. A common cooking area and fire pit are available for use, and there is ample privacy with spacious walk-in sites.
12 walk-in sites - most not very far from parking lot. Two clean outhouses, big covered cooking shelter with two large picnic tables, water pump. Sites are private, flat and pretty. No cell service. 15-20 min drive to Seward. 2 min drive to Exit Glacier hikes. Bugs weren't bad when it was breezy.

The campground is very clean and well maintained. It’s free. We got there in the early evening and plenty of sites available. Most are private from each other it’s very nice. They have bathrooms and a water well with non potable water. They also have a good storage room. A fireplace and area to sit. Loved being secluded and some sites have views of the mountains will be coming back here!

Possibly the best campsite we stayed at in Alaska. Nice clean facilities, undercover area for cooking, food storage room, great private tent sites and of course free. Great work from the national park authority.

Best tent campsite that I camped at in Alaska (and maybe even beyond!) There are 12 walk-in sites, first come first serve, that are a close walk from the parking lot. The sites are all tucked away and mostly private from the main trail, clean, and well maintained. Site 4 (see photos) felt like sleeping in a fairy grove with direct views of the mountain. There is a communal eating area with a food storage closer and bathrooms (also clean and don't smell at all!). I showed up at ~6pm on a June weekday and was the second person to arrive at the campsite. Only a 20 drive from town, so if you prefer a quiet nature retreat definitely recommend staying here instead of in Seward.

Came on a weekday and the campsite had lots of empty spots still. The campsite was clean and well thought out. The well seems to be broken so we got water from the Exit Glacier Nature center 2 minutes drive away.

Free designated campground with 12 spots, 2 of them wheelchair accessible (spot 1 and 12). You will park your car (no RV) at the parking lot and cannot sleep on it, it is a tent-only campground. Then you'll have a common cooking area and the only place where you can lit a fire. Then you will walk on and find nice hidden spots quite spaced out, where you can set your tent (max of two medium tents), but no food, fire nor pets are allowed. There is also a water well nearby the entrance, in front of the cooking area, altought it says to filter/boil the water if you are to drink it.
Victor D — Google review
Campsites are nicely spaced out, and at least 2 are handicapped accessible. Some sites are less than 20 feet from the outwash plain which offers beautiful views of Exit Glacier.

Came end of August (8/25-8/27). Over the two nights we stayed there there were maybe only max two other parties a day. We got there early on 8/25 Monday and there was no need, lots of open spots. Very well maintained. Campsites 5 and 6 were our favorites - near the water. Well was broken so just went to exit glacier to fill water.

Aialik Glacier is a stunning and active ice formation that offers a breathtaking sight of calving. The experience of witnessing the massive chunks of ice breaking off into the water is both awe-inspiring and sobering, as it highlights the rapid retreat of these glaciers. Visitors can embark on boat tours or sea kayaking trips to get up close to this impressive glacier, capturing plenty of pictures and videos along the way. The tours also provide opportunities to spot wildlife such as sea lions in the vicinity.
Aialik Glacier, located within Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska, is a spectacular natural wonder renowned for its immense size and breathtaking beauty. Here’s a glimpse into what makes Aialik Glacier a mesmerizing destination: Glacier Size and Formation: Aialik Glacier is one of the largest and most actively calving glaciers in the park, stretching approximately six miles long and towering over 100 feet above the waterline. Formed over centuries by compacted snow and ice, the glacier's distinctive blue hues and jagged ice formations create a striking contrast against the surrounding rugged landscape. Scenic Boat Tours: Visitors often experience Aialik Glacier by taking boat tours from Seward, navigating through the pristine waters of Aialik Bay. These tours offer panoramic views of the glacier as it descends from the Harding Icefield into the fjord, providing ample opportunities to witness calving events where chunks of ice break off and crash into the sea with thunderous splashes. Wildlife Viewing: The journey to Aialik Glacier is also a wildlife enthusiast's dream. Along the way, it's common to spot sea otters, harbor seals, and seabirds such as puffins and bald eagles. The nutrient-rich waters near the glacier attract marine life, adding to the richness of the experience. Naturalist Insights: Many tours are led by knowledgeable naturalists who provide insights into the glacier's geological history, glaciology, and the broader ecosystem of Kenai Fjords National Park. They explain the impact of climate change on glaciers and the environment, offering a deeper understanding of the region's natural dynamics. Preservation and Conservation: Aialik Glacier serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving our planet's delicate ecosystems. Its retreat due to global warming underscores the urgent need for environmental conservation efforts to protect these natural wonders for future generations to enjoy.

Not quiet as impressive as the northwestern glacier but still a lovely glacier. Checknoit hiw dirty itbis and the layering that can tell you how old the glacier is

Aialik Glacier is very active. Watching the Aialik Glacier calving is a sight. The massive height of waves and the sound of thunder is unique to only the most active glaciers. While the calving is special it's also depressing when you think about how quickly these glaciers are retreating. Enjoy your glacier tour and take plenty of pictures and video because these glaciers will never be the same.

After 20 minutes watching the Glacier I have seen ice falling several times. There are also sea liones near by.

Great glacier. Real big, real cold, lots of ice. We're probably killing it with global warming so should probably do something about that so others can enjoy it too.

We did a bareboat charter for a week on Madrona and would highly recommend the experience. Communication prior to the charter was outstanding and is nothing like working with the impersonal mega-charter companies common through most other parts of the world. Kate and Nate are quick to respond and super helpful. If you are coming from out of the area, transportation to/from Seward is easy due to the frequent tour buses running between Anchorage and the Seward Cruise Ship terminal which is nearby. Provisioning is simple with a nearby grocery and hardware store. The boat is in great shape for its age with several recent upgrades and more planned. It’s also surprisingly fast and nimble. We averaged over six knots in even light winds. The sailing area was amazing with numerous protected coves. Each anchorage has amazing views with lots of wildlife such as whales surfacing nearby and bears wandering the shore. The highlight of the area is cruising up to the massive glaciers. Spending a night anchored within sight of the massive ice wall and watching the building-sized blocks calve off was a unique experience.

Nate was an outstanding host! He took us sailing and it was such a pleasant experience. He was very confident and shared so much about the bay! Thank you Nate and Kate!

Best sailing experience in Alaska. Kate and Nate will teach you everything there is to know about sailing and you'l have so much fun! One of the best ways to see whales up close and personal in Alaska.
Andrea L — Google review
We had a great time with Nate and Kate on their sailboat! They were wonderful hosts with a lot of local knowledge and made sure everyone on the boat was safe and having a good experience! We tried to catch up with some whales at the mouth of the bay but the whales had different plans and kept swimming away from us, but that didn’t matter because the scenery was breathtaking and we saw lots of otters and seals. I’ve only sailed a couple of times before this and this was by far the best. I will definitely be doing it again!

This was an amazing day trip sailing. My husband & I went with our 6 year old son. They taught us about sailing and my husband and son even helped steering & moving the sails! We spotted whales & dahl porpoise! Beautiful views everywhere we looked! I highly recommend this company because of the intimate small group setting & they let you help or relax which ever you prefer!

My family took a trip to Alaska and we saved the best activity for last. We sailed along Resurrection Bay with Kate and Nate and had an absolutely fabulous time getting such an up-close view of the water and wildlife! Both Kate and Nate were amazing hosts and tour guides, sharing fun facts about sailing, the area, and the bay. Would definitely recommend for any group visiting Seward!

We just returned from a week in Alaska that ended with a 2-night sailing charter. Nate & Kate were phenomenal hosts, They were knowledgeable about the area, helped us with our sailing skills, built an impressive beach fire complete with s'mores, and don't get me started on the delicious breakfast burritos. We came as tourists looking for adventure and left as friends. I cannot wait to sail with Resurrection Bay charters again in the future. Do not hesitate, book an hour, a day, a week, you will not regret it.

So good. We went out in September and the boat we were on was so cozy and warm. The owners took us out and we sailed down the bay and we got to see whales, sea otters, etc. they were very professional, kind and even taught us how the sailboat works. Great time, can’t recommend them enough

Holgate Glacier is a stunning tidewater glacier located in Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska. It is fed by the Harding Icefield and covers approximately 1,100 square miles. Visitors can witness the awe-inspiring sight of massive icebergs calving off the glacier and plunging into the water during boat tours or kayak excursions. The area is also home to about 30 glaciers, offering a unique opportunity to experience the power of nature up close.
Gorgeous! Very fortunate to have gotten a spectacular day and saw both a pod of orcas as well as humpback whales bubble-net fishing during our cruise!

We took an overnight to the Public Use Cabin here - phenomenal! The cabin was clean, secure, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. For transportation, we used Joe Allen of Allens Alaska Adventures. We would absolutely hire him to take us out there (or adventure anywhere in the area) again! He was absolutely awesome. Consider going for a couple of nights and/or adding in a kayak trip (we did!). Enjoy.

Holgate Glacier was just breathtaking!! Probably the most incredibly gorgeous views I have ever seen. We took a 6 hour day trip cruise from Seward. So very worth the beautiful voyage to this magical place!
Charles F — Google review
Breathtaking, beautiful and bitterly cold and wet (naturally). We couldn’t have had a better trip from a wildlife perspective: Humpback whales courting one another among chunks of ice, Sea Lions, seals, puffins, mountain goats and one black bear. We also saw a pod of orcas on the return journey to Seward.

Holgate Glacier is another one of those many beautiful glaciers in Alaska. You'll most likely see Holgate Glacier while on a glacier cruise, but if you can take your time and enjoy the view from a kayak I bet you'll have a better experience.

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Seward Helicopter Tours Glacier Dog Sledding Camp. A thrilling helicopter ride from Seward takes you to the Godwin Glacier, where a dog sled camp awaits on ice about 1,000 feet deep. Contrary to misconceptions, the dogs are enthusiastic and love sledding - their excitement is palpable as they eagerly await their turn. The helicopter journey offers breathtaking views of Seward and the surrounding mountains.
A once in a lifetime experience! Take a short helicopter trip from Seward across Resurrection Bay to the Godwin Glacier. There you will find a dog sled camp sitting on ice about 1,000 feet deep. I have heard people suggest dog sledding is cruel to the dogs, but it seems quite the opposite when you do it. The dogs absolutely love it! When the dogs realized that we were getting ready to go sledding, they were all jumping and barking as if to say, "Pick me! Pick me!" It is what they live for! The helicopter ride was beautiful and the staff were absolutely awesome! If you are ever in Seward, Alaska, you must take this trip! Wonderful!!!

Emma did a fantastic job keeping us safe and showing us the lay of the land and water. From humpback whales, seals, puffins, and the groaning of the glacier slowly grinding its way to the sea, we saw and heard it all. Thank you Emma. And thank you for sharing the link with pictures from the day. Captain's Cabin: Well. Let's just say the Captain's Cabin was Rustic. Very Simple. Basic needs met. Had interesting neighbors

We did a full day glacier kayaking tour last summer. It was the most expensive activity in our entire Alaska adventure. We saw beautiful nature and I have no doubt the guides were working hard, however- there was not an appropriate gear check in before leaving. My travel buddy and I are experienced outdoors women, but we opted to pay $$$ to have guides take us into areas where we are unfamiliar- sea kayaking. On their website they say that they have everything you need for your tour. When we left, there was not a single mention of clothing. No one checked our set ups to see if we were adequately prepared. One family in our group was decked out in denim, and my adventure partner had a down jacket and didn’t realize how poorly that would perform. When we arrived on time, we waited without anyone checking in with us. Plenty of people were around and seemed busy, but no one approached or filled us in on what was going on until eventually my friend had to go ask what was happening. As the day progressed, my friend started to become hypothermic, to the point where she was crying and in a lot of pain. She was truly scared. The guides offered her their ONE extra layer, which was thankfully enough for her. The mom of the other family told us that her sons asked her if they were going to die. Luckily, this family was extremely tough and NEVER complained and got through it unscathed, but the outcome could’ve been very different with a different family. When we got closer to the glacier, we then realized we couldn’t get very close because of the wind coming off and the risk of ice calving off. Then a BOAT with a motor went right past us and got up super close to the glacier. We were stunned. Definitely should’ve taken that boat and paid a fraction of the price. Also, the boat did not slow down at all to look at puffins or wildlife in either direction. The boat driver seemed pretty weathered and borderline annoyed to be ferrying us to the kayak put in. All in all, it was a not a great operation and we were pretty disappointed. 2/5 stars because I do think the guides were trying pretty hard but were not set up for success. Would not repeat.

We stayed at the Birch cabin on Miller's Landing and it was perfect. The cabin was clean and blankets were provided(also clean). The restrooms and shower - well maintained - were on the main building other side of the road and easy to access. The location is to die for, we saw 2 bald eagles and river otters as we were leaving!

We did a full day fishing charter. Our family group of 4 had so much fun and we caught lots of fish. What really made the trip fun was the incredible deck hands, both Owen and Logan. Super friendly, energetic and hard working especially with all of us who seldom going fishing.was amazing from start to finish. We caught silver salmon, halibut and rockfish. Logan and Owen love their jobs! We will definitely use them again on our next trip. Maybe very shortly, again. From the May family.

I have worked with Miller's landing for both work and play reasons and absolutely loved it every time! I've had couples book their water taxi for weddings and photoshoots in Thumb Cove and Fox Island and beyond, I've stayed in their dry cabins (The Viking Seaside) and at their camp sites, and I've done a kayaking tour and a Fourth of July Kayaking tour turned water taxi due to weather. Every single time they've been so kind, easy to work with, and just all around awesome! Highly recommend them if you'll be in Seward and want a fun adventure or a very Alaskan place to stay!

Wow! What a spectacular piece of beauty we got to experience at Miller's Landing!! Highly x 1,000,000 recommended! We stayed in the "Full Ocean Yurt" and it was incredible. Breathtaking views! And the amenities were really good. My only comment is that if you go in the summer, take a sleep mask as the skylight has no way of "closing" and therefore it was very light! We also got to take our doggie with - which we always appreciate.

Nestled in the charming town of Seward, Alaska, Firebrand BBQ is a delightful stop for anyone craving authentic Texas-style barbecue. This casual eatery, easily identifiable by its bright yellow sign, offers a cozy atmosphere with covered outdoor seating that’s perfect for enjoying your meal while soaking in the local scenery. The owners, hailing from Amarillo, Texas, recognized a gap in the market for quality BBQ upon their arrival in Alaska and decided to fill it with this inviting spot.
We decided to get some take out at The Firebrand BBQ. We ordered the crab cluster and a pulled pork plate. Delicious!! It was ready quickly and we took it back to our campground. It was still really hot when we opened it up. The crab cluster was so good and worth the price. The pulled pork plate was really good. The portions for both were huge. It was a great meal for a rainy day.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and I finally got a chance to go. The ordering process was super easy, and the wait staff was really friendly and helpful. Everything seemed to be set up for a great experience. The seating area is outside, under a building cover, so dress appropriately for weather. The tables and chairs were nice, though. The only downside was the food. It was really bland and didn’t have much flavor or taste. I even tried the BBQ sauce that they had on the table, but it tasted just as bland and watery. I ended up drowning it in hot sauce halfway through to at least have some flavor. I was honestly surprised, considering all the positive reviews I had read.
Andre G — Google review
When you think Alaska port town you think seafood, but this is absolutely some of the best BBQ you will eat in the country. I grew up in CA and now live in FL. I judge a joint by it's smoked turkey and brisket. The turkey was so moist and flavorful tossed in the House made BBQ sauce. I wish it was sliced though. Didnt get brisket but they had BEEF RIBS smoked to perfection. Beans and Coleslaw were okay, Potato salad excellent.
Greg T — Google review
We visited in mid-August. The outdoor setting was pleasant with nice weather. We ordered a plate of brisket and brisket in a loaded BBQ potato. The portions were a bit small for the price, but the food was tasty

This place has a great vibe. The owner is out and about the entire time making sure his guests are happy and fed. Gluten free food!!!! Owner told me everything is gluten free except the toast. Such a blessing for my allergy! The portions were very generous! The loaded baked potato was absolutely amazing. The potato salad is delicious! The bbq sauce was good but not exceptional. They also have heaters outside for the ones wimpy to cold like me since all searing is outdoors. The vibe in general helped make my review. Incredible vibe, incredible service great food. I highly suggest you all try Mad Jacks in Cloudcroft NM if you enjoy this place.
Kimberly B — Google review
Treated ourselves to snow crab legs and they were the best price we found in town. Crab was amazing! The pork belly and brisket were also tasty. At one point they brought out extra ribs and passed some around to the customers so we got to try them. I think as far as the meat goes, the ribs were the best. Sides were ok but the main dishes more than made up for it. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and service was great
Jennifer G — Google review
So, as something of a BBQ connoisseur, I'm gonna leave it to the next guy to try something different here. Having eaten BBQ across the US, from Terry Blacks and other excellent staple locations in Texas to mesquite style in southern AZ and Carolinas style, I've had a lot of BBQ and the majority was good to exceptional. Coming into Seward Alaska and trying a self-reported Texas style, I set my expectations low. I got the brisket plate in order to really "judge" and while it's not close to the best I've had, it's solid brisket, especially considering the location. The joint could be aptly renamed from Firebrand to Pepperbrand, however, considering the copious amounts of black pepper in everything, including the slaw, potato salad, beans, etc. The wife enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich, which for me is akin to ordering chicken nuggets -- a solid staple, hard to mess up, and always tasty, but not a good judge of the overall quality of the smoked meats. So .. what's the verdict? I'd come again and try the pork belly and crab and I wasn't displeased by the experience. The service was quick and friendly and the open air eating was great since the weather was perfect, high 60s and light winds.
John R — Google review
We went here because Chat GPT told us this place had the best crab legs! Smoked crab legs cluster and a glass of beer was what we got! The chef gave us our crab but without any butter or sauce. We tried the meat nekkid and it really didn't need any saucin'. It was naturally salty and the smoke from the BBQ was chef's kiss. The owner and everyone working there were super kind and warm. Very happy with the food, service and vibes. They were busy! We highly recommend this place. One of the top 2 places to eat in Seward. (The other is Miller's Landing.) Wishing them continued success.

The nutrient-rich environment supports diverse wildlife such as whales and puffins, along with stunning calving glaciers. With a focus on Kenai Fjords National Park tours, Major Marine Tours operates 6 to 7.
Our tour with Major Marine Tours was absolutely unforgettable and easily one of the best experiences we've had in Alaska. From start to finish, everything was incredibly well-organized and timely. The crew was friendly and attentive, making everyone feel welcome and comfortable throughout the journey. What truly stood out, though, was our captain—hands down the best we’ve come into contact with on any excursion. He was kind, calm, deeply knowledgeable, and had a peaceful, caring presence that made the entire experience feel special. His narration was clear and engaging, and he made sure every guest was aware whenever wildlife was spotted, so no one missed a thing! We were lucky to see a variety of wildlife on this tour—from marine mammals to seabirds—and the crew provided binoculars for a closer look, which was a wonderful touch. They also offered refreshments throughout the trip, adding to the comfort and overall enjoyment. If you want to enjoy the stunning views from the deck, be sure to dress warmly, as it can get chilly out there. That said, there’s plenty of cozy indoor space to warm up between sightings, with large windows that still give you excellent views. Overall, Major Marine Tours offers an exceptional experience with top-notch hospitality, breathtaking scenery, and a genuine connection to Alaska’s wild beauty. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to experience the cruise no matter the weather!

Not only we saw the otters, sea lions, seals, eagles, also we learned a lot about glaciers, history about the area. Most importantly, I didn’t get a sea sickness. I still recall that I threw up a few times in the boat trip in Hawaii. This chat boat is definitely bigger and has strong engine. It was a perfect day and wonderful trip. Thank you!😊

There were also great perks - delicious food and even the chance to cruise with a beer or cocktail of that is your thing. Above all the crew were amazing! Topped off with the glacier visit, a pair of humpback whales and at the end Orcas! We loved it. Would definitely recommend!

We had a great time. Daryl was our guide and was an enthusiastic ambassador for Alaska, Seward and mushing. We then hiked out to Exit Glacier which was an easy hike for healthy legs and a beautiful sight to log into my memory cache.

They provided a video of us mushing AND a bunch of photos, which I loved. Plus the puppies!!!! They were only 3 days old and the cutest babies I’ve ever seen. All the dogs were such good boys and adorable. Very cool to learn about mushing!

We visited Seavey's last week as part of our one week inland tour of Alaska. We learned a lot about the dogs and what it takes to get them ready for the Iditarod and how grueling that is for both the dogs and the musher. The dogs were so friendly and receptive to us strangers. Of course, we all loved holding the puppies too.
Tony L — Google review
Fabulous tour! Learned a lot about the Iditarod Trail, sledding and especially the dogs!!! So glad we did this. Friendly, professional staff. Highly recommend!!
Donna N — Google review
Phenomenal experience! They are so attentive and informative. It was so much fun riding the sleds and the kids loved the puppies! Highlight of our trip!
Dave T — Google review
Did one in Talkeetna earlier in the week; this one is quite a bit better. Better staffed, better facilities, better “sled run” concept, more information, and more professionalism. Don’t intend to slag the other one too bad, except to say having the opportunity to compare, this is the better one to patronize IMO.

We did the lunch and paddle experience at Bear Glacier with Seward Helicopter tours and it was fantastic! The most unique experience in Alaska, worth every penny. We felt like we stepped into an alternate universe, stunningly beautiful, tranquil. The staff was highly professional and the meal really special. Thanks to Sam for such great work!

Beyond amazing experience! It’s hard to put into words how breathtaking the scenery is. We did the bear glacier extended trip for 45 minute flight time and it went by so fast and was absolutely breathtaking! The staff said that was the perfect tour and amount of time. Our pilot and the staff was so friendly and gave us great local information. Highly recommend this company if you’re in the area and wanting to see the beautiful landscape from above.

We had a great experience with Seward Helicopter! First of all, the staff was super helpful answering loads of questions before we even arrived. After getting to Seward, their shuttle picked us up from where we were staying and then took us to the rental car company after our tour ended. This was a surprise for my husband. He hadn’t been in a helo since he was in the service. I had opted for Grand View Tour and he loved it! Aside from fabulous views of glaciers, waterfalls and stunning landscapes, we also saw a black bear, moose, mountain goats and seals. At times, it felt as if we were skimming over the ground and it was a blast! Highly recommend!
Mary E — Google review
Amazing flight seeing helicopter ride and dogsled experience. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and focused on safety. The views were spectacular! We had a chance to play with a couple of puppies and the had an amazing experience mushing through the snow. Once in a lifetime experience for sure!

Unexpected but great glacier dog sled tour. The staff are prompt, very helpful and quick. They help us with check in and took great care in every aspect at load and unload of helicopter. Ride itself was amazing with cool pilot. And amazing dog sled on glacier. Cute puppies and super high energy dogs and knowledgeable guide/musher. Thy love their dogs n care them. We asked quite a lot of questions and he knows it all. Made few stops to interact with dogs while they rest as it was little sunny. In last we got time with little puppies. They are absolutely adorable.

If you're going to spend the money on any one big experience during your Alaska trip, I would highly recommend you make it this one. From the wildlife you'll see, to the incredible views of building-size icebergs, glacier shelfs and ice fields - the Grand View Tour from Seward Helicopter Tours is one of the only ways you can experience Kenai Fjords up close. We optioned to do a Glacier Landing on Calypso Glacier and we were not disappointed with that decision. This Glacier is high up in the mountains and certainly only accessible by air, so we were blown away when we landed and stepped out at the view. After leaving the glacier, we circled icebergs the size of buildings (note the other helicopter hovering above the iceberg in my photo for size comparison), flew in front the Bear Glacier ice shelf, up and over the massive ice field leading to it and then carved through canyons seeing numerous waterfalls, rivers and wildlife (we saw sheep, seals and plenty of hikers). The pilots are extremely knowledge, safe and professional. We had a group of six, so we were split between two helicopters of 3 + pilot. So everyone gets an incredible view! The pilots do a fantastic job of combining narration with wildlife spotting. A word of caution, having done a few other helicopter tours in the past (in Hawaii and elsewhere) this one was definitely on the more "sporty" side in terms of maneuvering. You're not flying high above the canyons, your carving through them getting a view only the birds get to experience. It's unlike anything I've experienced, but if you're prone to motion sickness, you will likely want to take precautionary measures ahead of time. Don't let that put you off though, I have a hard time imagining any helicopter tour out there can top this experience. You won't regret it!
Jeff M — Google review
It’s about a 10-minute helicopter ride each way, landing on a glacier for 40 minutes of dog sledding and time to visit the dogs and puppies. We were lucky to also see a mountain goat. The staff was very welcoming, and overall it was a great experience.

Kalani and Mike were so amazing and sweet we had the best tour. They were beyond helpful, making sure we choose a good time to have our tour. The mountains, glaciers and animals were jaw dropping. The whole experience was super enjoyable and I would do it 100 more times if I could.

Visitor center
The Seward Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce is a must-visit destination for anyone planning a trip to Seward, Alaska. The center provides valuable information on businesses that are open during the off-season, ensuring that visitors have an enjoyable experience even in November when some attractions may be closed. Visitors praise the exceptional service at the center, likening it to a 5-star hotel. The friendly and knowledgeable staff, particularly Karen, receive high praise for their assistance in making trips to Seward memorable.
Alaskans are so amazingly friendly and kind. The young lady greeted me and offered her help and guidance immediately. She pointed me to great brochures and information to make our day in Seward a great one. What a beautiful town and the mural project had us all in awe. I hope to return one day to also take trips into the fjords and go hiking. Perhaps even a dog sled ride. Now that would be the ultimate adventure.

So grateful for the Seward Chamber of Commerce. They helped guide me in opening Frozen Cactus Salon with step by step instructions! Members from the chamber have helped me set up for the grand opening and the Frozen party. As well as help keep any info up to date for the community! Thank you so much for making this wild adventure a little more organized!

Don't waste your time. We were in there for close to a half hour and not one person spoke to us. We really felt like we were a bother to them so we left. But based on how the rest of the day went in Seward I'd say that's how visitors are treated here. Can't wait to leave
Shelley B — Google review
The two people at the Seward Visitors Center were very helpful and patient in answering my many questions. They shared some of their favorite spots in town to walk as well as some restaurants. There's some boba and good fudge in town. There were some local community flyers in there that had nice info like local musicians, events put on by the Seward Parks and Rec, First Friday arts walk, and information about the local children's museum. Theses are the gems you don't find online. There's event an EV car charging station in front. And, I learned that Kenai Aviation has flights between Anchorage Seward. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're looking to find a mixture of local and touristy information.

They younglady that was there when we arrived was very helpful with putting us in touch with local renters. We were able to secure a place rather quickly and we were very pleased with what she had found and what we rented. She gave us anoist of places she enjoyed eating at which we tried the following day and her recommendation for the breakfast was spot on. We enjoyed talking with her and the information she provided.
Eric V — Google review
We came to ask about information regarding tours and the lady at the counter was amazing. She recommended the most suitable option for us and also provided plenty of details about other possibilities. There are also many brochures available with tips on what to do and where to go in the area. A great place, highly recommended.

Hiking area
Caines Head Trailhead offers a challenging yet rewarding hiking experience with stunning views. It is recommended to time the tides correctly for a smoother hike, and staying overnight is highly recommended if possible. The trail features well-marked paths with some steep sections, leading to campgrounds at the end equipped with facilities. Exploring the nearby Fort adds an extra dimension to the trip.
I don’t know what the heck was up with Google maps when we went, but we ended up driving down a private road and then turning around and parking at the bottom of the trail by the beach. Just don’t do that haha. A beautiful hike! Worth every step. Well marked, with some steeper moments. To the bridge is about 1.2 miles, feels a little further than that. The view of the salmon swimming freely in the water is absolutely amazing. Nice and cool amongst the trees so be sure to bring layers.
Jessica H — Google review
The Caines Trail is a pretty easy trail. When I went it was pouring outside, but with rain gear the rain was bearable. This trail features many creeks and beautiful scenery! Perfect for a light hike!
Alyssa Y — Google review
Nice trail to Tonsina point starts here. The trail took about 1:40 without any waits all the way to the beach and back. Very well maintained and no trash or litter at all. Felt safe throughout
Gaurav A — Google review
After the first bridge, you want to go to the beach. But if you want to continue on the trail you have go to right after the bridge- no signage, thru the forest a little more then over another bridge and trail dumps you out to a rocky, beautiful beach where it seems you can walk forever. Just watch your tide schedule! Plenty of parking at trailhead- just also not good signage- 2 parking areas. Lower parking lot will get you to the trailhead by trekking up a trail to the upper parking lot. Restrooms at upper and lower parking lots.
Cheryl T — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous. If you're a real hiker it isn't hard.
Dan B — Google review
Great trail! I went down to the first beach during a lower tide and it was a beautiful scene. The trail itself is one of the more difficult trails I’ve done recently, but is by no means hard. Expect some wet terrain and elevation change. There was a salmon run going at the end of September when I went which was an experience in itself. Again, very well upkept trail with wooded paths at times, and lots of terrain and erosion prevention measures being utilized. Impressed. Parking cost $5 for the day.
Jon P — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous - I highly recommend staying the night if you can. You have to time the tides correctly - we left 2 hours before low tide and it was a bit of a pinch toward the end. On our way back we left 3 hours before, and followed the tide out which made things much more slippery. You'll have to choose the lesser of two evils. The campgrounds at the end are great and have restrooms and picnic tables. There's tons to explore and plenty of wildlife. We did the trip in one day and also explored the Fort. I highly recommend it!
Barb K — Google review
We took a water taxi to the north beach. The fort is about 2 miles further south from where we were dropped off, all uphill. I didn't factor this in with the low tide. From the fort to the point, you need to be worried about the tide is about 5.5 miles. We made the tide with plenty of time, but if you miss it, bad things could happen.

Hiking area
Resurrection River Trail is a 16-mile primitive trail in Chugach National Forest, starting near a campground. It's not for the faint of heart, featuring three challenging water crossings that can be tough depending on rain/runoff. There's a public use cabin halfway up the trail and it connects to the Russian Lakes trail in Cooper Landing. The hike offers beautiful views of waterfalls and glaciers without large elevation climbs, but occasional streams may cross the path.
Great hike. Only made it 1.5 miles before a larger creek turned us back with my little kids. Easy enough for my 3 year old. River was high so flooded in a couple of spots but easy to get over
Amanda H — Google review
Great hike with fantastic views. You will cross some creeks and deal with mud but it is worth the hike.

Really pretty, low amount of use/ people, Bear country 🐻🦦🦅
Tyler S — Google review
Nice easy hike along the river a few up and downs, but nothing to drastic, beautiful trees and views, bike and horse friendly, but Feds have already restricted E bikes, this tends to be a trend. Bring along a filter water bottle, lots of spots to get water along trail. Nice blue berries along the path. Enjoy the wilderness.
AKDav — Google review
Resurrection River Trail is a beautiful hike through the mossy forest of the Alaskan Coast. Enjoy glorious waterfalls and majestic glacial views as you traverse the trail. While the hike is mountain adjacent there no large elevation climb. The only issue is the occasional stream running through the trail. Such a gem in the way to Exit Glacier.
Abram G — Google review
Great trail, though primatively maintained. It is not for the faint of heart. There are 3 water crossings which can be challenging depending on rain/runoff. If you aren't comfortable with that, best to turn around at the first crossing. There is a public use cabin about halfway up the trail, which is available on a first-come, first-served basis. This trail ultimately connects to the Russian Lakes trail in Cooper Landing, making a long trip for those who are prepared. Bears are not uncommon on this trail. Bring bear spray and practice bear safety.
Justin O — Google review
