We had a wonderful circular day hike in Eridge in the beginning of Spring and our group really enjoyed it.

Nice and lovely to visit especially this time of year when the flowers are about to bloom and people are on Easter break just walking about it's the simple things in life that keep everyone happy. There is a big playground swings etc a castle toilets and a cafe very good prices and a big nature walk to keep you going. Car park free by gate toilets facilities free by cafe lots of disabled access available around the park and bins for your litter lots of benches for picnics a real gem 💎 of a place 😀

Wakehurst Place is such a beautiful place to visit, any time of year. The house is now open and the walled garden has been extended. Quite a few other changes but on the other hand, all the favourites are there. Including the wild bird feeding spot by the Himalayan Glade.

Absolutely amazing place to hike, camp in, and complete your Duke of Edinburgh Award. This place makes climbing steep hills so worth it, and although it’s really difficult to walk for a long time in a hilly area, the views at the top are wonderful. Recommended for those who live in the city and countryside.

The Weald is one of the loveliest corners of south east England - a real gem well worth exploring. Highly recommended.

From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which instantly made us feel at home. There was an excellent choice of drinks – I started with a Spritz, which was perfectly refreshing for a sunny day. We shared the ribs, which came coated in a rich BBQ sauce and were absolutely delicious – so tender and full of flavour. I followed it up with a Whiskey Sour, which was expertly made. The place itself is a total gem – beautifully decorated with vibrant colours and quirky touches. It felt authentic, unique, and full of character. You can really tell a lot of thought has gone into making this a special spot. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, fab drinks, and a welcoming vibe!

Sadly the food has really gone down hill since I was last here 3 years ago. It used to be a food destination but I wouldn’t bother coming here again other than for a drink. All the food seemed like it was pre-made offsite from a supermarket or something or straight out the freezer. Very poor for the money, especially the small plates. Would rather you charged more and they were better quality. Much better places in town.

Had a wonderful time at the globe inn, greeted with friendly welcome we ate in the beer garden, which is perfectly set for outside dining. Went for the recommended Romney Lamb and it was very tasty. Great staff, and a good wine list, topped off an enjoyable evening.

A lovely pub located just out of Rye town and the harbour. Food was exceptional. One of the best burgers I have ever eaten. You can tell that they use quality local ingredients. Prices are standard pub prices, I would say they are justified. Great atmosphere. 100% worth the trip. Plus the outside areas are like being on holiday in the right weather.

We had a lovely family meal here on Sunday evening. They were still serving Sunday roasts which some of us opted for. I went for the fish of the day which was perfectly filleted and cooked. A good range of cask beers available. Plus a wide selection of wines.

Absolutely brilliant place, we have not visited before. Really quirky decor and something to see in every corner. Great service and staff, the sea bream was delicious would recommend 10/10

A lovely, cosy, pleasant, venue with a fantastic choice of food superbly cooked and delivered - a supreme, delicious burger and triple-cooked chips !!! The atmosphere is relaxed, the decor is modern and trendy, and the service is friendly, helpful, and efficient. The beer garden is not huge, but looks a great stop-off on warmer days. Keep it up !!!!!!

Small but interesting as it packs a thousand years into that space. Skeleton in a gibbet is a standout. It was very busy due to the torrential rain so I hope they made some money!

The pictures are of Rye in general and not just the Ypres Tower and museum. Rye is an essentially English, charming and historic medieval town and well worth a two hour or so wander. Plenty of parking available just outside the town centre. Recommended for lovers of history and of half timbered and quaint old buildings. Not ridiculously busy despite fine weather and the school holidays.

This imposing castle was only a few minutes' walk from our hotel when visiting Rye, and we passed it several times. The entrance fee was reasonable and there are displays inside about the history of the castle. One gets fine views from the castle to the River Rother and the surrounding landscape if you can manage to climb the stairs. Below the castle is a lovely Gud Garden with some ancient cannons on display.

Definitely worth a visit if you are in the town or passing the area. Although the museum is small it really has some interesting content not just on the history of the castle but of the local people /areas as well. The view from the tower is worth the entrance fee on its own.

We were disappointed that despite the website and signs outside indicating that during October the tower would be open until 5 , it was closed when we arrived at 3.30. We were informed that this was because the person working there had to catch a bus. He said that it was because the clocks had changed and was now darker - if opening hours are going to be dependent on clock changing this should be make clear on . It is especially poor timing as this was during the October half term and we saw many other families also turn up and be disappointed. We visited the next day instead and enjoyed our visit with a 1 year old and 3 year old. There was enough for children with dressing up and some buttons to press.

The Cobbles Tea Room is a charming little spot with a delightful lunch set that feels homemade and comforting. Their House Tea is fragrant and warming, perfect for a relaxing afternoon break. The real highlight, though, is their Hot Apple Pie—absolutely brilliant! It’s served warm with just the right amount of sweetness and spice, making it one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The interior is cozy, filled with vintage charm, which adds to the experience. However, I did feel a bit let down by the staff’s attitude—they seemed rushed and lacking in patience, which made me feel a little unwelcome. Still, the quality of the food and tea made up for it. I’d come back for the pie and tea, hoping for a warmer reception next time.

We love the setting. Scone was quite good. The hot chocolate was way too sweet for me, but the first sip was amazing though. The chocolate cake was not something we usually had. It was a bit dry and hard. Maybe better with hot tea. We would like to come back though.

Was an okay afternoon tea. I would say for the quality it is a bit expensive. The sandwiches weren’t made of the best filling and the cakes were a little dry. The scones and tea were lovely too. Interior was lovely and the staff were nice.

Clean the table and wash the dishes seriously please! We have waited for 20mins to be seated on a Saturday afternoon ard 3pm. We were seated outside but did not expect they do not clean the table. My white shirt helped to clean when my arms touched the desk....You can see the tea tint on the table. There also spider web on the fence near us. (you can see it from the background) I think at lease the table area needs to be clean?🤢 Luckily, the scones and sandwiches are amazing as expected. The scones were a bit crispy outside with a bit warmth. I like it with their jam! When I drink the tea, I saw the dish under the cup is dirty. It will not touch my mouth directly but I feel bad to see it when I imagine all utensils are not clean🤢🤮 Scones were good. But I couldn't enjoy it very much as the table was dirty and crowded. However, I do appreciate the cleanliness of the toilet. At least it looks cleaner than the table.

This charming tea room is a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cozy atmosphere, with its quaint decor and soft lighting, creates the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon. The selection of teas is extensive, and the staff is friendly and polite. We had scones and came, which were freshly made and absolutely delicious. It's the perfect place to catch up with friends or enjoy a quiet moment with a good book.

The fish is good quality and very fresh, chips come with each meal and the tea is standard. Battered sausage is okay and can be bought separately. The main standout would be the fresh cod. If you prefer you can sit in to eat your meal though it does not seem obvious. It is quite hidden but there is a door next to the shop. Table service is fast. It is quite a small space and gets quite noisy as it becomes quite full. The doors on each side of the room open and slam shut with a loud bang every now and again. Atmosphere is not the best, good for a quick eat not good for a date. It gets quite busy on a Saturday evening and we were lucky to get a table. I think they close their table service around 8pm.

Came for a visit to Rye with my wife on a Saturday afternoon and as we got hungry, we decided to try the local fish & chips shop. The hosts were very friendly, greeted us and showed us to a table for 2 by the window that just got freed up. We took our seats and placed our food order. I had a large cod & chips and a lemonade, whereas my wife got the medium portion of cod with chips and lemonade. I was debating if I should get the mushy peas or not, as I know the potion is usually small. The host encouraged me to get it and I'm glad I did, as they really put as much mushy peas in the portion as they could. The chips were piping hot and the fish was nice and flaky, but crunchy on the outside. The view out the window was also nice, as we could watch people go by and enjoy their day. Overall a very good experience and whenever we'll be passing through Rye again, we'll look to eat here.

Great Fish & Chips! Found this place online and it didn't disappoint, tasty food, good portions and wonderful service! The sitting is traditional cafe/dinner style, a bit cosy but okay. I would go again. To be honest by the time we were leaving there was a queue outside!

Food is fresh and very tasty. Prices are very good. I tried the calamari rings e small chips (which is abundant)! And a coke (£11,50)

Really enjoyed a lovely Saturday treat of Hake and chips with mushy 🫛. The chips tasted home made and the batter was light and crispy. Would definitely return.

We travelled down from Windsor to stay in Rye Harbour and had fish and chips from here. Food was fantastic and the portions are huge. Massive thank you to Marion’s, proper fish and chips

First time in Rye yesterday , was really looking forward to fish and chips all week. The chips were nice, but the fish was terrible, no taste at all. They must have thought she’s not from round here, we’ll give her the oldest frozen fish. Ketchup you have to pay for, which I don’t mind, but they told me this after I had paid, and it’s a £5 minimum card spend! Overall wasn’t impressed.

After a terrible experience at another pub, this place was a total turnaround! The service was absolutely top-notch – attentive, friendly, and really made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was buzzing with good vibes, creating the perfect backdrop for a great evening whilst celebrating mine and my partners anniversary. And the food? Seriously yummy! Every dish was a hit. i ordered the fish pie and my partner the lamb chops! This pub completely saved our night, turning an unfortunate situation into a memorable and enjoyable evening. Highly recommend!

This is a great place to eat, drink and stay. Louis, the barman is exceptional. How refreshing to have someone serving you who clearly loves his job. Polite, enthusiastic, efficient and a real pleasure to be served by.

We returned to The Standard once again and it was wonderful. We stayed in the Dover room this time which is spacious, clean and aching with character. Lucy and Emily and all the staff were fantastic as always. We had the AMAZING chicken pie (all sourced locally) and the catch of the day. Everything from seaweed butter, sourdough at dinner to a stunning breakfast the next morning was first class. Perfect location, great atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and delicious food. The Standard is our happy place and highly recommended. Thank you all for a great stay. See you soon.

Amazing little pub. Great little outside seating in little huts that can be used all year round as each one has heaters for the winter months. Unbelievably dog friendly, great staff, and amazing food and drink. Absolutely recommend to anyone visiting and looking for a decent pub.

Location of place is lovely, perfectly positioned nearby other hotels, restaurants and bars. Rye itself is wonderful and homely too. On the contrary the service was sub par. Very slow wait for only a two person meal. Whilst the waiter’s were kind the wait is a big let down. The meal itself however was tasteful, with some of the best chips I’ve had, great pastry on the pie and delectable miso butter and scallops. Fairly expensive and a slow wait so I wouldn’t come again

Great Barman but a Waitress with attitude! We have been coming to the Standard on and off for 15 years. The food was as good as always. The front-of-house barman was excellent; however, the food took a very long time to arrive, and the waitress who served us had a stinking attitude and obviously didn't want to be there. This affected our experience this evening so I felt compelled to write this short review.

Possibly the best pub meal we’ve ever had. I’ve visited the standard for many years but it just keeps getting better and better. We were a big group last night but from the moment we walked in without a booking, we felt welcomed and the fantastic landlord quickly pulled two tables together for us. Great selection of beers but the curious lager was a winner. The starter off the specials list of a half pint of prawns with aioli was amazing, and the Romney Marsh lamb rump with lyonnaise potato and Kale was even better - the gravy flavored with pickle was the best I’ve had. We loved all the deserts too. Honestly 10 out of 10 - couldn’t be faulted.

Food was very good! The burger was done really well and tasted amazing. The service was quick and very good as well. The place is small and busy which gives it a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

This was tied for the best dining experience we had while visiting the UK and for what it's worth it was a small shop on a hill in Rye. I can't say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere and service were as good as it gets. Now for the food, locally sourced beef, vegetables, fruit and essentially the entire menu. The steak that my wife and I had and we have been to so many restaurants all over was arguably the best steak at a restaurant we've ever had. The sides were on point and the meal as a whole was exceptional. Should you find yourself in Rye this is a MUST VISIT!

Wow what a little Gem of Rye. Absolutely amazing place. Lovely attentive staff, great choice of food and drinks. Best sirloin steak i've ever had and hubby said the same about the Dirty Hoof burger. We will definitely return and this place is a must.

We got the muddy hoof burger which has beef patties, chilli, bacon, cheese, burger sauce, lettuce, tomato,jalapeño and onion ring which was lovely, served with skin on fries and drinks. Staff very friendly and nice atmosphere. Has upstairs seating and outside, dog friendly throughout.

We had the most amazing meal last night. I would suggest that you book a table as it was pure luck that they were able to accommodate us without a booking. This is a very cosy restaurant with an emphasis on delivering excellent food from local farmers. We both ordered the bavette which was cooked beautifully along with the mushrooms, tomatoes and locally grown skin on chips. Delicious! Would highly recommend the Rioja which is in my opinion a perfect accompaniment. Couldn't fault the meal, service or ambience.

Absolutely stunning meal! The flank was cooked to perfection & the burgers were juicy & succulent. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was just superb, very good music choices. They are very aware of allergens / lots of GLUTEN FREE options. Would highly recommend this restaurant. It is clear that this is a popular venue so booking is advised.

Amazing lunch at Hoof on a Sunday afternoon. The food was good. And the service was extremely friendly and attentive. We had the goat cheese salad and the crispy squid for starters and the rump steak and the mussels for mains. All dishes were nicely prepared. I think the chips were one of the best I have tried. And most ingredients are sourced locally. For drinks we tried the local lager which was very good.

Wow wow wow!! Visited this afternoon and we can’t stop thinking about Fletchers! As ladies who go out to brunch a lot we always leave disappointed by the food, drinks or service as it’s always hard to find somewhere that offers it all… but oh was this a different experience! 5 stars all around! The food was incredible, the coffee tasted beautiful, it was such a lovely atmosphere and we had such kind, friendly service! Nothing was a problem, being checked on, offered more drinks, and served with a smile! The food tasted beautiful, fresh, hot and presentation was 11/10.. We firstly ordered savoury and was so impressed we went in with a second round of sweet! We loved it so much we’ve already planned a return visit next Monday (and we’re not even close by!) but it’s so worth travelling for. Also spotted the afternoon tea on the table next to us which looked incredible, so we’ll be booking that soon! Wow wow! What a beautiful spot! Now our favourite!! Well done Fletchers! We’ll be regulars!

Central location, beautiful building and intern decoration, impeccable service, tasty and easy to the eye food. Fair price all considering. The only thing that was a bit tricky for the staff it was my issue with dairies, they kindly adapted a fish main taking out the dairy, and it was still very nice. There was no dessert without ice cream or cheese in it so they had to find a creative solution, it was not the best but good enough. Would be nice to consider different dietary restrictions in a menu with maybe one dish for each category as vegan or dairy free, very easy to make, so different people can have it.

Absolutely fantastic we went here for my friends 40th birthday and was welcomed with complimentary Prosecco. Lisa ❤️ went above and beyond for all of us. Nothing was too much. The food was beautiful. We first tried a grazing board at Fletchers a few months ago and were so impressed we asked them to cater our wedding. From start to finish Lisa and the team took the stress out of our DIY wedding. A tasting was included, allowing us to be involved in the overall design of the boards - a really nice and personal touch! On the week of the wedding the team checked in and made sure we were happy and were so responsive and accommodating to any last minute questions or requests! On the day of the wedding the team arrived early, set up effortlessly and made the tables, welcome drinks table and whole venue look better than we could have dreamed. As for the food, the grazing boards looked INCREDIBLE on the day and they were so beautifully presented with such attention to detail. Not only that, but everything was DELICIOUS! All our guests were raving about the food & attentive staff. The whole fletchers house team were incredible and we cannot thank them enough for making our DIY wedding run seamlessly and with amazing food!

I don’t usually do reviews but I am for my birthday brunch yesterday because it was excellent. A series of what turned out to be fortunate events lead us to end up at Fletchers. I had kind of forgotten about it! We used to go when it was a restaurant and always enjoyed the excellent food, service and atmosphere. Walking along the high street, a sign reminded me of its existence, how fortunate! We had a delicious brunch, they were extremely accommodating when asked to change menu options to suit what we wanted/needed. The service was impeccable and the food excellent 👌🏻. The only thing I could say is that it would have been good to have a little bit more bacon 🥓 and hollandaise sauce on my eggs Benedict. Had I of asked, I’m 100% sure it would have been provided, but I didn’t ask as it was delicious anyway! Then we had dessert… wow!

I had 2 courses lunch just for £25 per person! It was really a lovely price. The meal was also served with appetizer and bread. The entire dining experience was great. I like this place, happy to visit again in the future. Off topic was about its golden toilet. It was epic, must visit.

❌❌❌❌MUGGY OWNER AVOID ❌❌❌❌ Tried ordering a delivery with him on Monday, he said I had to give the driver my money the total came to 155.56p over the phone he said it came 180 something I said to him make me a deal he magically went down to 160 I said no 150 he said ok.tried mugging me off. Then he told me that I had to give money to the driver first and then would send me my food later. I’ve never done this before and I’m in a strange place and said no. He said very rudely well then your not getting your food so I said okay done. ( I’ve ordered from here before when a guy called Ali awnsered the phone and was amazing and had no troubles and no dodgy driver coming to collect my money to give me my food later, never heard of this before!) The next day my brother went down to the shop and ordered us food, and all he could hear while he was waiting for the food was the owner telling the person on the phone “ add another £2 on” “add another 50p on” HIS QUITE LITERALLY MUGGING EVERYONE OFF SO CHECK YOUR TOTAL PRICE BEFORE YOU CALL. He ever charges an extra £1.50 just to send you a link so you can pay very muggy. Food was disgusting just more grease upon grease. He has no idea on how to run a business. Was stressed out and running around frantically trying to rip people off and serve them grease. DIAMOND KOZ just down the road to him is amazing and won’t rip you off! Their prices are their prices no hidden fees and their food is a million times better and no hassle. Definitely better places to eat in rye then this place! Foods disgusting, all greasy. Man in the front just likes a good chat up line. Pizzas burnt at the bottom. Tastes like literal cardboard Meat all dry. We did dish it out and tried to make the most of it which was impossible. Hence why we didn’t call and ask for a refund. Lots of fruit flys, which speaks for itself. Hygiene inspector definitely needs to pay a visit, definitely more underlying visitors if there’s fruit bugs.

Ordered online, they didn't have the potato wedges so offered cheesy chips and a can of drink instead, we were more than happy with it. Service really good and food was so good!!

Walked in ordered 3 pizzas was told 30 minutes wait that's not a problem. But when I came back 30 minutes later and was standing there for 10 minutes to then be told that my order had not even been started. Meanwhile fresh customers (1 couple) came and ordered and left. The guy takin the orders was frantic and had no clue what was going on would avoid unless you are happy waiting an hour for a mediocre pizza I imagine as I walked out.

Great place to go, quick service, lovely food and good value for money. People are always friendly and provide great service. Would definitely recommend.

After a long afternoon sitting on camber sands (which was beautiful) we got some food. The owner was very friendly and the portions were big. Good food, good service. Would recommend.

Could not believe the sand is so smooth here where the beach elsewhere in the UK is so pebblish and hard to walk around. Could see some kids doing sand surfing and is a very dog-friendly place. There are tides at different periods and riptides at some area.

Beautiful beach and place to go. We had an amazing day here and it was really cool to observe the tides. Water is not super clear so visibility is nothing special, but good for a short swim. The beach is clean and there is plenty of space to chill and relax.

Camber Sands beach is easily accessible from London and makes for a perfect day trip. We had a wonderful experience with its stunning turquoise water and beautiful sand dunes. What made it truly unique was the mix of soft sand, shingles, and pebbles all in one place. A peaceful and scenic spot to relax, explore, and enjoy nature.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a fantastic day at Camber Sands Beach! The beach itself is absolutely stunning, with golden sands stretching for miles, perfect for a long walk or a relaxing day by the sea. The parking was easy and affordable, and it was great to see clean, well-maintained toilet facilities nearby too. A brilliant spot for a family day out, we’ll definitely be coming back!

Camber Sands is without doubt one of our absolute favourite beaches in the UK. It’s a stunning stretch of coastline with soft, rolling waves of golden sand that seem to go on forever – perfect for long walks, sandcastles, or just lounging in the sun. The kids absolutely love it here – they’re constantly darting between the water and the sand, always finding something to do. Whether it’s paddling in the shallows, digging holes, or chasing each other up and down the dunes, there’s never a dull moment. There’s plenty of parking available, which makes getting in and out stress-free, even on busier days. Around the area, you’ll find handy little shops selling beach toys and snacks, which is brilliant if you’ve forgotten a bucket or spade. And for food, you can’t go wrong – there are some excellent fish and chips spots nearby, ideal for a proper seaside lunch. Camber Sands has that rare mix of natural beauty and family-friendly amenities. It’s clean, spacious, and full of charm. Whether you’re visiting for the day or planning a longer stay, it’s a perfect beach for all ages. We never get tired of coming back!

Great little place for people that like pubs the breweries haven't commercialised. Great beers and ciders that are different from the usual everywhere and a great stout (called Blacks) that's a lovely change from Guinness. They do good cheese plates and pork pies. Open log fire with very friendly staff. The owner is there in the bar most of the time chatting to everybody everywhere. He loves his 'work' and creates a very welcoming, open atmosphere. Nothing is fancy, but it's all very authentic and honest. If you're in Rye and looking for a pleasant distraction for a couple of hours, seek it out. You''ll probably be pleased you did.

Came here about ten years ago and once again starting off the day here. Liza kicks off with a Langudoc rosé. I had a Kent brewery 4.1% Golding. Lovely pint. Two real ales and a cider on handpump. A beautiful pub in a great setting. Friendly staff. Large walled beer garden with views over the wetlands to the sea. Looks like decking also being built. Only bar snacks and pork pies: not a food destination.

Chilled out pub with a great beer garden, dates back to the 17th Century. We visited on a Sunday evening so there was only one cask ales on (they shut Monday - Weds), but there is a good choice of other drinks. Dog friendly. They don't serve food and access is down some steep steps.

We had a lovely visit to the Ypres Castle Inn – the perfect spot to enjoy a cool drink in their beautiful beer garden. We sampled some of the bar food and were not disappointed – the cheese and pickle roll was delicious, and the large pork pie was absolutely spot on. The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We actually turned up a little early before opening, but they were incredibly accommodating and made us feel right at home. A hidden gem with great atmosphere and friendly staff – would definitely recommend!

Great old vibey little inn serving local ales, ciders and more. Well worth checking out after a visit to the 'castle' Pop down the stairs afterwards and you can go grab some lunch at the fish market and seafood bar! Perfect!

Stumbled into this lovely little country pub on a beautiful day in Rye. Fantastic selection of beers and ciders, many from Sussex but lots from around the world. Beautiful beer garden, cozy fire, what more could you ask for?

Lots of interesting books and a lovely cafe. The centre was built and run by Sussex Wildlife Trust. Expansive views across Rye Harbour nature reserve. Wheelchair ♿️ friendly. Carers, be prepared for about 1 Km walk from car park to the visitor centre, (and it's a walk that could be a bit exposed to the elements...for instance, today it was rather breezy.) Other than that, it's a great place to visit. For wheelchair users there's a decent path, and it's all on the flat. The cafe is wheelchair user accessible as it has a wheelchair ramp, and some room to manoeuvre a wheelchair in the cafe. There were several wheelchair users in (and near to) the cafe today. There is also a pleasant outdoor sitting area.😀 A safe place for children to cycle, with young families cycling around the nature reserve. 😊

Absolutely fabulous place. Free parking nearby. Free entry to the Discovery Centre. Binoculars supplied at tables next to the windows, so you can do a bit of bird-spotting whilst you enjoy coffee and cake! Great idea.

There is no waiting needed or any tickets needed. The views are amazing. The walk is just great. The opportunity to see birds is fabulous. The discovery centre has a brilliant shop and has seating where you can look through some binoculars.

Great little visitor centre with a brilliant exhibition on the history/geography etc of the reserve. Good walking trails, easy walking and offer fantastic views of the coast. Several bird hides are dotted around. The centre has loos and a good sized cafe with binoculars to have a good look over the reserve

A lovely centre to get a coffee or tea from (and a cheeky slice of cake). A great shop with lots of bits and bobs. Beautiful place to come and visit and the nature reserve is exceptional.

The centre is clearly pretty new and magnificent. The paid staff and probable Sussex Wildlife Trust volunteers were very helpful. As were the displays relating to the area. Toilets were plentiful. Merchandise (books and the usual variations on a fridge magnet, etc) was excellent. The café was busy and popular but I didn't have time to sample food and beverages.

I came here twice on two successive evenings during a visit to Rye. I had heard that this is a unique place for birdwatching, especially when the migrant birds stop over. August was therefore not the ideal time. But I observed at least 27 species, but in recent years 280 species of birds have been recorded on the Reserve, so I must come back for more. Entrance is free and the footpaths are mostly flat and accessible also for wheelchairs and there are a few bird hides. As usual in such nature reserves, one needs very good binoculars and/or a camera with an impressive zoom lens to capture the birds which are mostly a long way away. There is a Discovery Centre with a Café, but this closes early.

There are no words to describe the beauty of our time spent in the Nature Reserve! We could’ve spent a whole day here. Really enjoyed biking through the reserve and stopping to admire the flowers that were blooming and to read the plaques! We rode all the way to the end of the reserve and got to see some sheep grazing!

You can get lost for hours and enjoy every moment! Great trails, paths, and views. Perfect for dog walks.

Beautiful ❤️ our second visit and we loved it as much as the first time..it's so beautiful here, the beach is really fantastic, especially when the tide is out to find loads of natural beach treasures! The bird watching and bird song is gorgeous. Can't wait to go back

Loved the hot and cold chocolate drinks. The percentage of chocolate options is really nice. The third time there, and I tried the Dubai chocolate milkshake. It was soooo good, wow! Super happy customer here!

And I quote "the best milkshake I've ever had".. Get a milkshake here, and if your not sure, ask what kind and they will steer you in the right direction. Get the add ons with sea salt and pistachio whip cream and you will not be dissapointed!!! Highly recommend!!

Better than the hype, my iced chocolate blew my mind. So thick and velvety it’s more like a chocolate mousse! Can’t recommend it enough. I had the 70% exclusive blend with soy milk and vegan whipped cream.

Wonderful chocolate shake, made promptly and high quality. Great concept of allowing customers to choose from a variety of chocolate types and darknesses. Lovely location as well to sit and drink a cup of hot or cold chocolate. The one star removal is only because the team could be a little more attentive as to which customer groups are arriving with whom and not assume based on appearance - however this can definitely be easily rectified with a little more observation!

Another fabulous visited to Knoops. Today, our group had a mix of hot, cold & milkshakes. All were superb & the staff were so friendly. Quick service even though they were very busy.

Such a beautiful place with really friendly owners and staff. Directly in the centre but very peaceful. Really comfy bed with good quality linen. Great shower with gorgeous toiletries from a local business including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser. Well stocked tea and coffee with a full range and even a coffee machine and fresh milk in a decent sized fridge. Enjoyed sitting in the window seat in Kingfisher watching the world go by. Breakfast choices were really interesting and such high quality. I highly urge you to book if you are visiting Rye or just pop in for the delicious food.

We've had the most delightful few days stay here. Everything was absolutely lovely. Totally central location. Welcoming, friendly staff. Beautifully clean rooms. We stayed in Indigo on the top floor with fabulous views out over the estuary. The perfect vantage point for the thunderstorms. The food was really good with an incredible choice for breakfast. We couldn't have liked it better. Well done to the whole team. You really do run an exceptional business. We'll be back in the Autumn. Thankyou all.

We had our wedding reception at Hayden’s and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The main room with terrace is such a lovely, light space and Kate and Corey were so incredibly helpful with their expertise on what dishes to have and what would work well in terms of guest layout (Corey used to be a full time hotel wedding events manager). The food was delicious and the serving staff so thoughtful and attentive that many of our guests said it was the best and most relaxed wedding event they’d ever been to. The bedrooms are lovely too. So pleased we chose to have the event at Hayden’s. Now inventing birthday celebrations to come back and do it again!

I had the most comfortable stay at Haydens in Rye mid-October. Beautiful top floor room with a massive bath, three types of showers and simply luxurious! I have stayed at Haydens twice before and would never wish to stay anywhere else. Staff are very polite and friendly. Their breakfast is a delicious selection!

Was recommended this place by a couple of friends, whilst the setting and the food were great, excellent value afternoon tea, the tea was so weak like drinking hot water and all I can say about the server was she was having a bad day but maybe not from other reviews. Whilst she accommodated us, it was done without a smile and no friendliness whatsoever, food 5, setting 5, service 1 sadly. I wouldn’t be in a rush to come back to be honest.

We couldn't have been happier choosing this establishment. It was wonderful and every way! The rooms were spacious and well-appointed, the food at breakfast and tea time was delicious, and the service was over the top! Our host, Cory, made us feel right at home and was so attentive. We would love to have back and stay here again!

*Lunch only, not hotel guests* We eat here whenever we're in Rye. Remember to book even for an early lunch. I always have the Cheddar Eggs (ask for one of each - you won't be disappointed). Coffee is good, too. Specials are reasonably priced.

Excellent meal and service … even got a free pistachio Turkish delight at the end. We came around 4 and they graciously offered to let us blend the lunch and dinner menus. Lamb shish was tender and tasty. Gorgeously presented lamb kofte. We were offered a choice of additional dipping sauces. Left very satisfied.

A lovely restaurant with friendly staff and our waitress was so lovely. We visited with our two young children and I asked if we could be seated at the back in which we was allocated the table we pointed out. Thank you for this. The food was delicious. Very generous portion sizes and the same applies for the kids dinners. Great environment with nice decor. Will definitely be visiting on our next adventure to Rye.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed about the food and service. The atmosphere felt very rushed and disorganized, the mousaka I had was very bland and needed lot of salt to actually have some flavor. Vegetable was very overcooked to the point it was mushy. We were waiting ages for them to get the plates and offer the dessert menu.

Was in Rye last week and decided to have Turkish for lunch. Food wise, I loved it. It was lovely. However, I have to say it was a bit overpriced as the portion wasn’t big enough compared to many Turkish grill in London. The waiter lady was kind and the ambiance of the resto was peaceful and clean.

What an absolute delight of a place. We felt so welcome, the food was luxurious, but with a home cooked authenticity, and the owner gave us a tour of his art collection. These people really care about their restaurant, and it's clear they love hospitality, not to mention art! More like this, please!

Best Iskender I’ve eaten in the UK, very big portion and absolutely delicious! I ordered the same thing 2 days in a row, it’s that good. The staff is very friendly. Very chill atmosphere with cool decor.

If you are visiting Rye definitely give webbe's cafe a try, especially if you are a seafood lover. Produce was fresh and cooked well. Scallops were tender and cooked perfectly fine. Everything else was just fine, probably because my pallet isn't sofistivated enough and I prefer more punchy flavours. :D Service could be better. I had the feeling that I was more smiley and positive than the server. Desperately wanted to get some vinegar with chips, but the server was nowhere to be seen. The table we sat at was shakey. Loved the simplistic design and the open kitchen. The only wet facility I could find was a disabled toilet at the back entrance, where deliveries are received from. Would be super cold to go in that area in winter.

Rye is a small English town located about an hour from London. We were there on a day trip on a blistering day in summer. We were in the mood for a seafood lunch and decided to go to Webbe's which had decent reviews. I had a bottled Cider and my friend had the Prosecco. We decided to have a dish each from the Mains section of the menu. We also ordered a side of Homemade Bread which came with Kentish rapeseed oil. I had the Steamed Panaché of Fish which was a melange of small pieces of fish like Plaice, Salmon, Cod, Mullet, Gurnard and Huss, Prawns and Mussels with Spinach and bits of Potatoes and Carrots in a Saffron Sauce. The plate was flavourful but a bit bland. The taste improved dramatically with the addition of some freshly ground pepper and salt. My friend had the Grilled Hake Fillet. The fish was perfectly grilled and was accompanied with bits of grilled Chorizo, Potatoes and Tomatoes in a Thyme Sauce. The dish was quite exceptional and we loved it! On the whole the meal was quite satisfying and Webbe's is worth a look-in if you ever visit this part of the world and are fond of seafood .

Decided to try out this restaurant after some friends recommended this and I definitely would recommend this to others too! Having made a reservation at mid noon there weren’t too many people when we arrived, the seatings were comfortable being at good distance to each other too. Ordered 6 Maldon rock oysters to start with and they were really fresh, tender without being overly salty. For mains we had the grilled monkfish from the seasonal special menu, steamed panache with a good selection of seafood (very good value for money too!) and the Rye fish stew which was my favourite during my meal. The soup was filling and flavourful filled with mussels, shrimps, fish and potatoes - served with croutons, Parmesan cheese and rouille sauce. Though the service was slightly on the slower side it was a lovely meal afterall and perfect to stop by after arriving to Rye on the train before heading out to town centre.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. The quality of the fish and produce is outstanding, food is expertly and creatively cooked and the service was lovely. I appreciate that while the food is top level, the restaurant still retains a relaxed atmosphere. There is a great kid's menu as well. If we ever come back to Rye we will make sure we pay this place another visit.

Nice little fish restaurant, offering a creative menu of seafood dishes offered at a very fair price. Tasty cerviche starter could have done with a bit more ‘zing’ and a bit more sea bream. The seafood panache was expertly cooked, tasty and well priced. Friendly staff in a lively atmosphere made for an enjoyable evening.

Fabulous food from the fish plate starter, through the sea bass and hake with unctuous sauces to the divine dessert of white chocolate and mascarpone cheesecake with mango spheres, coconut ice cream and lemon balm - delicious!!! Highly recommended

Webbe’s was the perfect choice to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Felt special in the evening but not too formal, wonderful ambience, and every dish was on point. Teens and adults alike enjoyed it all. A light batter on fish and chips, tasty hake and chorizo potato and a beautifully presented monkfish main were particular highlights. Generously sized puddings too. All fairly priced for the quality. A lovely evening.

From the warm, inviting ambience (wood burning fireplace included) to the seasonal menu and wine list, The Union offers a wonderful dining experience. We loved the small, plate sharing concept, which allows you to indulge in a variety of menu items. The cha siu hake skewers were delightful and the sirloin was divine! Definitely book in advance and if possible, try to be seated between the fireplace and the bay window. Perfectly cozy!

Good ingredients, nice food. The carrot and goat was my favourite. Wine selection is really nice. Service was unfriendly and unattentive. There was no fish at all. Half of the menu was unavailable and I was told only when ordering....

We booked this restaurant for a birthday celebration and made sure to note it clearly in the reservation. I politely double-checked with the staff, only to be told that they generally don’t do anything for birthdays. That in itself is fine, but it would have been much better if they had made this clear in advance when we added the remark — otherwise we could have chosen somewhere else more fitting for the occasion. The food itself was decent, but the lack of communication left us a little disappointed. If you’re booking for a special occasion, I would suggest confirming directly beforehand, as they don’t offer any acknowledgement or surprises.

We have accidentally stumbled upon the place. The staff is knowledgeable, polite and genuinely friendly. Looking at the menu makes you think about fine dining dishes, but in reality all items are classic stables with an interesting twist Cannot recommend this place enough

Booked this for to celebrate a friend’s birthday and was genuinely happy with the food and service! We tried to feasting menu and got a good variety of the sharing small plates and main. The ray fish was the highlight of the meal for me — the sauce was divine and the fish was very juicy and tender. Shoutout to the chef because I actually don’t even like fish that much usually!! We found the sauce on the pork chop quite sharp at first — but then when we paired it with the side veggies and gooseberries it worked really well. I think this really shows the complexity flavour profile of the dishes and how each dish is so well thought out. The desserts were delightful as well! We’ve particularly enjoyed the lavender panna cotta. Would absolutely visit again!

Underwhelming on multiple fronts: The steak had tough sinewy parts, and both glasses of red wine we ordered (for a total of £20) were disappointing. Even worse, we found two glass shards on the back of our seats—fortunately, no one was hurt. The waitress just said they were "really sorry" and that was the end of it. I'm giving 2 out of 5 stars mainly for the price-to-quality ratio. On the bright side, the atmosphere was pleasant, the waitress was attentive, and the chef did a great job with what he had, especially with h Ox tongue.

Having read previous Google reviews about this place I was quite excited to read they had gluten free bread. Not so when I went today. They couldn’t offer me anything gluten free. I walked across the road to the William the Conqueror pub. They had a clearly marked menu with GF and lots of choice.

Brilliant breakfast & super friendly staff. We ordered the Regular Bosuns and one Big Bosuns. One order was adapted to be GLUTEN FREE. Staff were more than happy to swap items to adapt to this diet. Large portions & tasty breakfast. Would highly recommend this breakfast spot right on the Harbour.

Reasonably priced and friendly little cafe at Rye Harbour by the lifeguard centre. Indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Vegan options such as vegan cheesy chips; Avocado and beef tomatoes on sourdough bread with vegan butter; and a very generously portioned vegan sausage sandwich on really nice bread. We were too late to try the vegan brekkie but looked good and again, reasonably priced. Plant based milks available for tea/coffee at no extra cost.

Our second visit to this lovely little cafe. The girls are friendly and service great. The breakfast sandwiches are fabulous with delicious sausages, bacon, eggs, and fresh white or brown bread. Grrat cup of tea too. Thete is a good choice of food and drinks on the menu. Seating inside or an outside semi covered area.

Really lovely little cafe, we had the sandwiches which were delicious. Staff were friendly and personable, would certainly visit again when we're next in the area. It was also very reasonably priced.

After a long walk at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve this is the perfect place to stop off and re-fuel. A typical English cafe. Great choice of food including vegetarian and children’s options. Eat in or take away. Honest prices for food and drink. We have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. Its right next to the RNLI Lifeboat station. Full English fast sets you up for the day. The sausages and mash was a huge portion for the money. They try and source all the produce from local suppliers. Easy parking, fast service and as I said before a typical old English cafe.
