National Trust - Knole

Park
National Trust - Knole is a grand country house featuring various architectural styles and opulent interiors, along with a 26-acre walled garden. It houses an internationally significant art collection, including works by renowned artists such as Reynolds, Gainsborough, Van Dyck, Lely, and Kneller. The estate also boasts extraordinary 17th-century state furniture and the original manuscript of Virginia Woolf's Orlando.
We visited Knole Park in Sevenoaks as a family and had a fantastic day out. The park itself is absolutely beautiful, with wide open spaces, stunning historical landscapes, and of course the striking Knole House and castle at its heart. The views are spectacular, and it really feels like stepping back in time. One of the highlights for the children was spotting the deer, which roam freely around the park and add to its magical atmosphere. The grounds are very family-friendly, with plenty of space for little ones to run around safely. Facilities were excellent – the café was a lovely spot for a break, with good options for both adults and kids, and the toilet facilities were clean and easy to find. Parking was completely hassle-free, which made the start and end of our trip stress-free.
Tamás V — Google review
A great place to visit. The house is full of wonderful art work and items dating back to the 16th century. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable. The grounds have several walks and you do not have to go far to see deer roaming freely. Cafe is well stocked and the gift shop and book shop hold a variety of items.

Quick Takeaways 🏰 Vast and impressive National Trust estate — best enjoyed on a fine weather day 🦌 Scenic walk to the entrance with freely roaming deer (great photo opportunities) 🗝️ Attic tour is a must for hidden history; tower climb offers 360° views (though not as dramatic as Petworth) 🚶 Estate’s true beauty revealed by walking the grounds — allow plenty of time 🏛️ House is well preserved, full of artefacts and information; knowledgeable volunteers enhance the visit ☕ Café was a let-down: busy, not enough seating, limited food options, and inconsistent with other NT properties ⏱️ At least a half-day visit — wear sensible clothes and sturdy walking shoes Full Review Knole Estate, managed by the National Trust, is an impressive and vast sight to behold. Like many National Trust properties, the weather plays a big part in shaping the experience — this is one venue where you’ll want to go on a nice day to really make the most of your visit. Parking is straightforward, and the walk to the entrance is made special by the casually grazing deer scattered around the estate. Their sheer number makes for a memorable arrival and some excellent photo opportunities. To get the most out of the house, the attic tour is a must — it gives a fascinating look into the inner workings and history of the building. Climbing the tower provides a full 360° view of the estate. The vista is pleasant, though not quite as dramatic as Petworth. To truly appreciate Knole in all its glory, you need to explore the wider estate on foot — that’s when its real beauty emerges. The house itself is well preserved and packed with remarkable rooms, artefacts, and detailed information. As is often the case with the National Trust, the volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable, and added real value to the experience. The only real disappointment was the café. It was busy, with not enough seating, a lack of cleanliness, and a limited food selection. The range of snacks seems to vary from property to property, which can make the offer feel inconsistent. To take it all in properly, you’ll need at least half a day. Be sure to wear sensible clothing and sturdy walking shoes if you plan to explore the estate fully.
MilPoPo — Google review
A very well presented estate dating back to the 1400s. The manor house as is typical for National Trust locations has plenty of information in each room. You are advised to book a slot for a tour on the website on busy days, i.e. weekends. The deer park is vast and you can easily spend a good couple of hours walking through the grounds. Plenty of parking and good selection of food.
Ali B — Google review
Knole Park in Sevenoaks is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The park is huge, with wide open fields and plenty of wild deer walking around freely — it feels magical. The historic Knole House is very impressive and full of character, with lovely views from the grounds. It’s a perfect spot for a walk, picnic, or quiet day out surrounded by nature. There’s also a small café and gift shop nearby. I’d definitely recommend Knole to anyone who enjoys history, fresh air, and the calm beauty of the English countryside.

Beautiful place, with lots around such a start of beautiful story and history - which is purity much still " living" with us (as the UK has so much to offer for those who appreciate history, nature). (Special "Thank You " Toby for taking time to give me a bit of history and story about this beautiful Place - with such a enthusiasm and very much of knowledge). I can recommend to gain a membership with National Trust as there is so much places around the UK and same time to support beautiful and living UK history.

Beautiful place to visit. Autumn colours were amazing. No real map of the place that I saw Good for all kinds of people £6 for car park and inc entrance to tower. Lovely coffee shop with i door and outdoor areas. Can hire mobility scooters
Marisa S — Google review
Wonderful place to visit, mainly for the huge park. The house itself is interesting but the area you can visit is surprisingly small compared with the vast size of the house as a whole. Signage is a bit confusing, and the visitor centre is a bit tucked away round the side. The cafe is great, but quite separate from the house and shop/visitor centre, which again was surprising. You could go to the house and never know it was there!

Knole Park is a stunning destination known for its 4.8K walk suitable for all abilities, offering an enjoyable and easy stroll around the main paths of the park. The area is famous for its impressive 350-strong wild sika and fallow deer herd, providing plenty of opportunities to spot these majestic creatures along the route.
Beautiful and a wonderful place to visit. Lots to do. Deers are just magical. Great woodland area. Tower and Castle is a must see. Great coffee shop. Snacks and confectioneries are really good! Well worth visiting!

Beautiful park, especially to witness autumn colours. Impressively large with plenty of walking trails (not flat). Given the size of the park, we didn’t see any deers on our visit, maybe next time.

Wonderful deer park. Perfect for days out with the family. The house is an option for a ticket price but we love just exploring the park. Dogs on leads. The park is free and you can walk in from the town. Parking by the leisure centre is concurrent. Also great for seeing where The Beatles filmed some music videos if you are a fan.

We went to Knole Park on a summer day such an amazing place! The garden’s huge and perfect for a nice walk. Totally recommend it if you’re around Sevenoaks.
Rifa A — Google review
I love this park and have visited at least annually for the past 26 years! You can visit the house or walk the grounds or just enjoy golf ⛳️ The walks are well signposted however, the map in the booklet would be more helpful if it includes landmarks for walkers not following a specific path when they get lost 😅 It's good for family walks as well and there's a picnic area.
Wams K — Google review
We had a lovely family day (2 adults and a child). Knole Park is free to explore on foot, with lovely walks where you can easily spend the whole day – we even saw a 200-year-old sycamore tree! The deer were fascinating and kept our little one happy. Parking is paid (free with NT membership), and there’s a café, bookshop, and toilets (10–5). Tickets are needed for the Showrooms and Tower House (free with NT membership)– both beautiful, though the Tower House climb is steep, the marvellous view at the top made it worthwhile. Don’t forget to bring a picnic!

Today my wife, our loyal friend Carmen, and I had a wonderful day at Knole Park. Lush green fields, freely roaming deer, and fresh air… Carmen was over the moon! Highly recommended for anyone looking for both a peaceful walk and nature’s beauty.

Beautiful place to spend a few hours. Lots of big old trees, deer everywhere, a decent cafe. The circular walks are between 4 and 5 km, and easy for most people to comfortably complete.

The venue is known for its reasonable prices, offering affordable snacks and drinks. Good theatre with awesome sights lines. The sound system is adequate and the staff are helpful

Nice venue, great entertainment & very reasonably priced tickets. We were seated at the very back and to be honest - we were so pleased to be! Despite this however, the lighting was still far too bright & continuously shone straight into our faces. The seats were something else and have got to be the most uncomfortable seats we have ever sat in. We wished the performance over (despite it being superb) because we were so incredibly uncomfortable 😢 The seats would stop a second visit unfortunately. Such a shame.
Paula M — Google review
The volunteer stewards were very friendly and helpful. We attended 2 performances, sitting in different seats. Row D seemed to have a bit more leg room than Row J. In both cases, the width of the seats was quite tight. The row J seats became quite uncomfortable after a couple of hours.

I go with my school to see the panto every year. Did a few Rare productions. Did "The Little Mermaid" and "Sleeping Beauty". Rare does amazing productions every year. Would recommend to children who would enjoy being on stage to do Rare

I came here to watch a band who paid tribute to David Bowie. The performance was good despite a few mishaps. It's a small, intimate venue with a small bar and a waiting area. Art deco interior. There is sculpture by Guy Portelli called Purple Crash, inspired by the life and music of the late performer Prince.

Great little venue. Cinema on the ground floor and main theatre venue for bands and comedy gigs on the first floor, 450 seat capacity. Spent a brilliant evening watching Pink Floyd tribute band “The Floyd Effect”. Great band. Great sound.

The Stag Theatre is a great place to see a film or a live show, car parking round the corner. comfy seats, you can buy, all your drinks /snacks to take into the cinema or theatre. Lovely friendly staff, very clean including the toilets etc. Well worth a visit if you're never been before..

Had a realty good time visiting the the stag plaza. Car park was easy to find and they have a different mobile payment company compared to the well known one. You get in, either buy tickets or go straight up where there is a bar to relax before you watching be play. I Enjoyed watching the watching the pinto, first time experience and end crew where really lovely. Entertaining, engaging snd interesting well with customers. Seats a bit tight but performance made up for it. Drinks and a small selection of snacks are reasonably priced. I highly recommend visiting for stag and seeing anyone of there live shows.

Bligh's Meadow Shopping Centre

Shopping mall
Nestled in Well Court, Bligh's Meadow Shopping Centre is a charming spot located between Bank Street and Bligh's Meadow shops. It offers a pleasant shopping experience with an array of niche shops, lovely food options, and polite service. The southern area provides a pedestrian-friendly environment away from the car park, featuring a delightful coffee shop with outdoor seating, a flower shop, and The Reformation pub. Additionally, visitors can explore country-themed market stalls offering French and Italian goods.
Fantastic place. The atmosphere and vibe is GREAT. I'd definitely come here again. Nice pop up stalls and nice self owned little shops and cafes. A cosy environment and good location to chill and relax too
Reg F — Google review
Bligh’s is an emerging gem that beautifully balances its rustic charm with modern vibrancy. While some areas may show signs of wear, the overall atmosphere is inviting and rich with character. The streets are lined with a variety of delightful independent stores, each offering unique goods and a personal touch that enhances the shopping experience. The community spirit is palpable, making it an enjoyable place to stroll and explore. Regardless of a few rough edges, Folkstone definitely has a captivating allure that makes it well worth a visit.

Good car park. Spacious and neat everything. Only downside is, it is quite expensive. £4 for 2hrs. But I suppose everything nowadays is around this price, so what can you do!
Chloe O — Google review
Good range of shops in Bligh’s Meadow such as M&S, Holland & Barratt ,Costas ,Card Factory ,Amazon Fresh ,Joe the Juice ,Whistles,Gails, Robert Dyas, EE phone shop ,individual clothes ,floral and jewelers .However ,parking is too expensive and parking inspectors frequently ticket in the area as people think certain times are free parking when it’s not ! Even Sundays are chargeable .Watch out !
Elaine S — Google review
Great selection of shops although parking can be an issue at busy times?
Robert S — Google review
Although Bligh's Meadow isn't very big , I like the vibe around there . Pretty relaxed with hardly any anti social behaviour that I have seen . Some niche shops and coffee bars . Generally polite service in all the shops . With the Christmas lights up - it's beginning to seem a lot like Christmas .🎅🎄Really pretty lights - will be sad to see them come down 😢

Situated in the heart of Sevenoaks. Nice mix of large and small shops, both big chains such as M and S, and small local shops. Pleny of places to eat to suit all budgets and dietary requirements. Fair size pay and display car park but costs £5 for up to 3 hours and £10 for up to 4 hours. Local market is also held here on a Saturday.

Restaurant
Number Eight is a popular restaurant in Sevenoaks known for its elegant Mediterranean-style small plates. It has gained popularity since its opening in 2022 and is praised for its well-designed dishes and great service. The restaurant offers a good lunch menu with Michelin-quality food at regular set meal prices, making it a hit among locals and visitors alike. Additionally, the nearby Three Sisters at the deer park Chart Farm hosts a Friday supper club and provides delicious heat-at-home seasonal weekly dining menus.
Our first visit and will definitely be back. Received a warm welcome on arrival and staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Choice of a set menu, main menu or vegan menu for lunch. The squid and Toulouse sausages & mash potatoes from the set menu were both delicious. As were the tempura prawns (main menu) and butter bean cassoulet from the vegan options. All reasonably priced.
Linda — Google review
Just above average roast experience for us - chicken quite dry - unfortunately not in line with the ratings and we are unlikely to return. This was also the first time we have ever been told that a restaurant has NO olive oil (rapeseed oil only) which seems highly unusual given the handful of Italian inspired starters and ingredients (focaccia / ciabatta / buffalo mozzarella / rocket) on the menu — with a few grocery stores nearby surely it makes sense to even have a couple bottles on hand for dipping if someone orders focaccia & specially requests it? Service nice & friendly. Drinks tasted nice though were on the shorter end.
JJ L — Google review
For me what makes the perfect roast is the potato’s, if the potato’s ain’t right and hot, then the roast is ruined. The chicken was very tender and flavoursome and so was the beef. But the potato’s were old and not hot and that’s a shame because the roast was good. The hummus starter is a must try and a hot starter to share. But overall would I return for the roast, the answer is no. For the price we paid for a roast, it not worth it. Beautiful location for a date night if you’re looking for somewhere fancy and quiet.
Steve R — Google review
In the Sevenoaks town centre, but hidden away from the high street, very convenient, but discreet location. The service team is friendly, casual but professional. The cocktail menu are exciting and very smooth tasty. The food are very high standards, but not reseasinable priced. It is definitely become our first choice for dinner.
Yves W — Google review
Our first time dining here, but we'll certainly be back. The service was excellent, the waiting staff was prompt and attentive. As a party of 9 we ate here as it was conveniently located opposite the theatre which we were attending afterwards. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We look forward to dining here again.
Kennedy B — Google review
We ate outside by choice and service was excellent. We had several small plates Tapas style which were very tasty and well presented. Then a dessert also really good. The wines, I had a Provence Rosé and Italian Merlot by the glass were both excellent. Lovely ambience and thoroughly enjoyable. Not the cheapest restaurant in Sevenoaks but well worth it for this quality
Peter B — Google review
We had a delicious dinner at Number Eight. I had the grilled scallops with lemon grass and my partner had the tiger prawn tagliatelle. Both dishes were perfect and very tasty. For desert, we had the affogato and the bread and butter pudding; again superb dishes. The Riesling we shared was excellent and fairly priced and the ambiance and service were just perfect. I was impressed with our night out there and would certainly recommend it to others. Best restaurant in Sevenoaks in my opinion.

Pub
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Sevenoaks, the Oak Tavern and Taphouse is a charming retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. This warm, wood-accented establishment combines traditional British pub vibes with a modern twist, featuring its own microbrewery at its core. Guests can enjoy a delightful selection of house brews alongside classic British fare, including hearty Sunday roasts that are sure to satisfy.
First visit, came for a quick drink. Beautiful building, lots of knooks to sit in, quite a big place inside with a private area to book out for groups as well. Great choice of drinks, reasonable prices. Service good. They do food but didn't stay for it. Definitely worth a visit.
Michael C — Google review
Nice pub with welcoming and friendly staff, have a strange blend of new gastro pub and 1900 watering hole, with some really beautiful panelling more ornate than your usual pub wall. Guinness was very nice and creamy and at 22 quid for that a g and t and a glass of wine, certainly very reasonable for the seven oaks area. Not sure about the food as only popped in for a quick pint but would visit again if in the area 😉
Matt — Google review
Great atmosphere, popular pub, lots of varied and cosy places to sit, with live music on a Friday evening. On the Friday we visited the menu was limited, nothing like the menu that’s shown online. There weren’t any healthy choices; very difficult for anyone on a diet! Far better for kids than adults. Only two desserts to choose from. It has a Thursday Quiz night too. Although there are brewing vessels, which adds to atmosphere, beer isn’t in fact brewed on site anymore. New owners.
Emma N — Google review
Came in to watch the Euros final - very busy, but was able to reserve a table on the day thanks to the incredibly helpful staff. Incredible atmosphere, with a wealth of historical features. Staff went above and beyond; really fast service despite how busy it was. Excellent range of beers on tap, and very reasonable prices. Can’t wait to visit again.
Alex T — Google review
A beautiful pub esteemed in history. It proudly displays the heart of its micro brewery set up in the centre of the establishment. In each corner there is a nod to a time where putting your feet up besides the fire was the crux of a good life. Come to think of it, it still is. Leather and lighting lace the interior like a swathe of swans (apologies the over use of alliteration). The Oak Tavern & Tap House is straightforward and so is its menu. It is humble, yet interesting offering the keen beer drinker a compliment to the hops and barley.
David C — Google review
A great place on Main Street in Seven Oaks. Vintage stuff. Excellent place to hang, meet clients and prospects. Great Beer and food. Very few places where you can sit next to a VAT tank

If you're on the hunt for an exceptional Chinese takeaway experience, look no further than Sun Do. This gem has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, offering a delightful array of dishes that are bursting with flavor. Diners rave about the tender beef and perfectly seasoned squid, while the Ho Fan noodles have garnered particular praise for their deliciousness. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot for celebrations or casual meals alike.
Definitely the best Chinese restaurant in the area. Food fresh and piping hot, served in very reasonable time. All the waitresses are friendly and always smile. We also met the “legendary” waiter who is overly focused on his work, didn’t communicate well, but that’s all. Overall a very pleasant and satisfying dining experience.

First time in with my husband, very nice food but terrible attitude, the older waiter with short hair was unfriendly, rude and unhelpful to us, luckily there was another younger waiter who was very kind with great attitude! I certainly thank him before we left! Ashamed I didn't ask for a name! We will not come back though.

Love this place. Food is consistently delicious and the grumpy waiter some people refer to, actually has a great sense of humour! Absolutely adore him! Can’t find any fault with this restaurant that’s been in Sevenoaks for decades. Thank you to the amazing staff. If you don’t try this restaurant you’re missing out!!

I’ve lived in various parts of Kent and struggled to find a decent enough Chinese restaurant akin to my old local in London. I took a chance on this restaurant and it delivered! Food was very tasty, beef was tender and flavourful - the perfect balance. Squid wasn’t chewy, seasoned well. Very happy with my food and will continue to order from here. Thank you Sun Do!

The older waiter is rude and disaster and makes me really uncomfortable, while another younger waiter in the house is nice and very helpful. The food is not bad, but I won’t return as long as the older waiter is still working there. He is a joke!

Food was ok but not a great experience overall . We were greeted by the most miserable waiter. We felt very unwelcomed as soon as we entered because the waiter was so serious and grumpy. He wudnt even let us finish talking before rushing back to his task. We were not made to feel welcome or greeted by the waiter who wa very serious at every interaction. Not sure if it's a language issue or just the attitude itself. Wasnt an enjoyable night at all. i was almost rushing to finish my food and felt watched out as the waiter was literally waitng to replace sheets and cutlery on our table which was pathetic. He kept the stuff on the table right infront of us which is very rude. If the staff were more welcoming and we didn’t have the grumpy waiter I think we would have come to the restaurant wanting to eat there again I do think the waiter didn't mean anything rude but he definitely needs to work on how to receive customers .

The staff is welcoming and genuinely focused on providing a comfortable yet professional service. While the ambiance is pleasant, the highlight lies in the food itself. The staff's extensive knowledge of their menu and its various origins from different parts of Italy adds to the overall experience.
We regularly come to Giacomo’s especially for the theme nights with singers & the charity dinners. We really do have the most enjoyable time & feel very special each time. Giacomo’s food is always delicious, hot & lots of it! The waiters (especially Antonio) really look after us & always spend time entertaining my nephew & niece & making us laugh. Giac always makes a point of greeting us himself when we arrive & he also comes to each table regularly throughout the evening to ensure that everyone is happy, having a good time & for a chat. The restaurant is beautifully decorated & looks even more stunning at Christmas. We definitely recommend Giacomo’s & thank every member of staff for always making it a special time.

We have just returned from lunch at Giacomos which is one of our favourite restaurants. They always serve excellent meals with good service and today was no exception. We had a three course delicious meal with wine and coffee which was served promptly and competitively priced. We’ll be back!

Had a wonderful evening with friends last night - food was fantastic (best lamb I have ever eaten) and everything was just wonderful. Quality of food and cooking by Giacomo was of the highest standard as usual. Ambience and Xmas decorations also.

Nestled just outside Sevenoaks, Ightham Mote is a captivating medieval moated manor house that boasts nearly 700 years of history and architectural evolution. Renowned for its stunning Jacobean staircase and charming Tudor facade, this property is celebrated as one of the finest examples of traditional English architecture. With a rich past that includes ownership by medieval knights and courtiers to Henry VIII, Ightham Mote offers visitors a glimpse into the lives of high society Victorians as well.
What a stunning and picturesque location. Take the time to walk around the pond for another beautiful view of the castle from a different perspective. Keep in mind the steep walk back up to the entrance if you have mobility issues. Well worth a visit and worth joining National trust because you only need to see a few properties to make it financially worthwhile.

Quick Takeaways 🏰 Fascinating National Trust property with a mix of historic buildings and grounds 🚗 Sat nav may direct you to the old entrance — car park is a few hundred yards further on 🅿️ Easy parking and short walk to the main entrance 🏛️ House is well presented with engaging exhibits; volunteers add valuable insight ⚔️ Special exhibits include WW2 displays, family/staff history, and a WW1 Victoria Cross 🌳 Grounds are well kept — enjoy a short stroll or a longer countryside walk ☕ Café serves good coffee and standard NT food at fair prices 🛍️ Large, well-stocked shop (one of the biggest in the NT) ⏱️ Allow a couple of hours to explore fully Full Review Ightham Mote is a very interesting property managed by the National Trust. Getting there was straightforward, though it’s worth noting that the sat nav directs you to the old entrance — you need to continue a few hundred yards further to reach the car park. Parking is easy and it’s only a short walk to the main entrance. The site itself includes several buildings to explore, such as a couple of second-hand bookshops, a gallery, a coffee shop, the main National Trust shop, and of course, the house itself. The house doesn’t disappoint. It’s well displayed with interesting and engaging exhibits, and the experience is made even better by the knowledgeable volunteers who share insights into the rooms and their history. When I visited, there was a special WW2 exhibit featuring uniforms, artefacts, and interpretive panels telling the stories of the family and staff who served. There was also a section highlighting a Victoria Cross awarded during WW1, which added further depth to the visit. The grounds are beautifully kept and pleasant to walk around. You can either stay within the immediate perimeter of the house or take a longer circular walk into the surrounding countryside. The café served hot, tasty coffee along with the standard National Trust food and snacks at a reasonable price. The shop, one of the largest I’ve seen at a National Trust property, was well stocked with the usual high-quality items. Overall, Ightham Mote is well worth a visit and can easily take up a couple of hours of your day.

Ightham Mote has to be one of the most magical National Trust properties there is. The house itself is so unique in its looks and its history. When you enter and walk through, it's like going through every era of history over the past 700 years — Medieval, Tudor, Victorian to the Mid-century. There are some really fascinating details if you take the time to go through each room slowly. The volunteers and guides are extremely helpful too and are so knowledgeable about the house, you can chat with them for ages. The grounds are also beautiful and the gardens are very well kept, lovely to sit in and read your book on a sunny day! Ightham Mote is a must go and well worth the journey from wherever you are!

What a gem hidden in the depth of Kent. If you hike you can get there via Knole park, but it's a long walk. They do talks 3 times a day and two garden walks. Anthony who gave us garden walk was fantastic! Entrance is nearly 20 pounds, but it's definitely worth it as Mote itself is stunning inside with plenty to explore.bit took me 3 hrs to explore but I was limited with time, otherwise would definitely stay for lunch or coffee and relax in of the gardens or ponds.

What a fabulous day out! Ightham Mote is a truly magical place to visit, steeped in over 700 years of history. Apparently, it’s the most complete medieval moated manor house in England. The grounds offer wonderful walks, a natural play area for children, and a lovely café with delicious, reasonably priced options. The house itself is stunning, both inside and out. One of the highlights has to be the spectacular Tudor symbols painted on the ceiling of the New Chapel in the 16th century. I can’t wait to return and explore more!

Delightful place to visit. Limited accessibility but what do we expect in a 700 year old place? Friendly knowledgeable staff. A variety of walks, great for families, fresh tasty cafe with lots of veg options. Fantastic destination to impress overseas visitors!

Interesting place to visit, not too large to walk around it, lovely grounds and lake walk. Good secondhand book shops as a bonus for those literary people. Small children's play area with small stream...not huge but enough to be able to get feet wet if not using stepping stones.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve, managed by Kent Wildlife Trust, is a nature reserve covering 73 hectares and featuring five lakes surrounded by beautiful woodland. Visitors can explore the area through woodland trails and spot various bird species and dragonflies. The reserve also houses a hands-on exhibition center for an interactive learning experience. During winter, the landscape transforms into a picturesque setting with snow-covered surroundings, offering a perfect seasonal ramble.
Great place for birdwatching or just a walk with two circular walks available. There are several hides around the lakes which offer great views.

Absolutely lovely, just outside sevenoaks, really good for all activities. I enjoyed the birds. Very nice Heron nest.
Tony W — Google review
This wildlife reserve run by Kent Wildlife Trust is just a short drive from Sevenoaks town centre. It has a large lake with a circular path around it plus some smaller lakes and other paths. There are numerous birds on and around the lake including ducks, geese,Coots and Moorhens. I also saw a Heron in flight and I think an Egret. The reserve has several bird hides in various locations, just bring along your binoculars, your camera with a good zoom lens! There are plenty of wooded areas where you'll hear and if you're lucky, see plenty of birdlife. I saw Robins and blue tits plus crows, pigeons, gulls and a blackbird. I heard Chiff Chaffs and Chaffinches and others I couldn't identify. There are plenty of benches along the paths so you can sit and rest or just take in the views across the lakes and listen to the sounds of nature. There is a car park which costs £2.50 for the whole day ( £3.50 at weekends ) There are spaces for disabled.

I came here previously in the lockdown period in the summer of 2020. It’s a lovely place to visit and had some amazing chilled views. Wildlife enthusiasts eat your heart out! This place has many of natures living creatures, it’s also such a peaceful place to come relax and chill. I totally recommend coming here if you haven’t already!

This place was an experience from start to finish. A little out the way, a twenty-minute walk from Sevenoaks Station, but well worth the walk from there. With views so picturesque and an atmosphere so calming, you'd be hard-pressed to think that this is, essentially, a stone's throw from London. Picnic tables, a visitors centre (with picnic areas & toilets), and benches throughout every portion of the trails, you could spend all day here providing you bring provisions. It took me about two hours, leisurely, to walk around its entirety. I would definitely come here again!
J ( — Google review
Lovely peaceful walk around the lake. Ducks geese and kingfishers to look at. The only worry I have is that the parking machine did not let me type my Reg no and I emailed euro car parks saying I hope I will not get a ticket and they need to fix the machine. Not a helpful answer so we will wait and see. Seems like a con to me. UPDATE 14/09- Euro car parks have indeed sent me a charge notice for £100, have you seen their 99% negative reviews on Trust pilot?? PLEASE STOP USING THEM, THEY ARE CLEARLY CROOKS. Update: The Trust have cleared my fine, but I've had no email from Euro car parks to confirm, this. They are useless.

Nature & Parks
Nestled in Kent, Riverhill Himalayan Gardens offers a unique blend of traditional and quirky plantings, featuring a wood den building and hedge maze. The gardens are not only known for their beauty but also for the elusive yeti sightings that take place predominantly between 2pm and 4pm on weekends and school holidays. Visitors can explore sculptures, secret pathways, and learn about its historical ties to Darwin and the Great Plant Hunters.
We enjoyed our visit on Saturday very much. The bluebells were spectacular, as were the Rhododendrons and azaleas. The paths, though a bit steep in places, were, on the whole, well maintained and the cafe was busy and well stocked with plenty of choice. We also liked the craft fair and thought that the plants and garden gifts were very well priced. NB it's a cash free garden, so pay by card only.

Really lovely gardens! Beautiful flowers and trees - some formal gardens but also lovely paths going here and there! Some rough and hilly and a bit steep for wheelchairs but the main part of the gardens would be lovely for anyone. Staff were friendly and very helpful - great cafe and lovely pots of tea! A lovely day out for family ! ….and we will definitely be going again!

Just WOW this place is absolutely beautiful! Lots to do and lots to see! The staff were all very friendly particularly those in the cafe who were very friendly and careful with cross contamination due to my allergies! Will definitely be visiting again and even considering buying a annual pass we enjoyed it that much!

This garden is absolutely stunning, especially during the rhododendron season. I am sure it is beautiful all year round, but I was blown away by the colourful blooming rhododendron, and a woodland full of bluebells during my visit in the late spring. The maze is fun and the view of the surrounding area from the top is fab too. It would be interesting to revisit during a different season to enjoy the seasonal changes.

Visited on the weekend, we were looking for a place to break off from the London environment... On arrival it was quite busy, but still couple of spaces on car park which was quite generous... We stopped at the coffee shop for a panini and a sandwich with coffee and we tasted the cherry lemon cake... We went up to viewpoint ( nice views ) and than we walked through the bluebell paths ( small area of wood land )... We walked through the garden up the rocks path to viewpoint again... Benches everywhere through woods, you can stop and sit down, meditate or simply enjoy the nature... Nice space, nice garden design and floral/ trees arrangements... There are 2 impressive pines which captured our attention... Overall is a nice space for spending couple of hours between flowers and trees ( especially like this time of year when bluebells and blossoms season)... Not far from London... Excellent day out, we had a good time here... Worth visiting, and will be back... ( I would change the flag from viewpoint as quite old... A new one would do better )

Nestled in a charming setting, The Bullfinch is a delightful pub-restaurant that beautifully blends traditional aesthetics with modern comforts. With its inviting log wall and open fire, it creates a cozy atmosphere perfect for enjoying chargrilled dishes. Guests rave about the extensive selection of beers and ales, complemented by high-quality food that tantalizes the taste buds.
Came here for a Sunday lunch today. The service from all staff was attentive and the girls were lovely to my two young children. I ordered the butternut squash roast which was a great veggie option and my kids both had the small roast chickens which they enjoyed. Overall the service and food was great and I would recommend

Went to the Bullfinch today (4/10/25) just wanted to say how lovely and polite the staff were, young male and female absolutely went above and beyond. I go to this pub often and have never been treated as good as I was today. Thank you!

Well, you can't win them all can you? Ten of my family members booked in to meet up yesterday and we had to pre-order our lunches, which was fine. They were ready for us: or were they? Most had the chicken or roast beef for lunch, which overall weren't too bad. The meat was well cooked but the veg were overdone, and several thought the potatoes tasted like they had been warmed up a few times, but they weren't unhappy. Two of us had the Fish & Chip dishes, which were extremely disappointing. The fish was very overcooked and because of that, very dry. The cheapest part on the plate... that being the chips, could have been counted on my two hands, if that. The burger was small and the few amount of chips on the plate only added to the sparse look of the dish delivered. On the dessert level, the only complaint was over the chocolate sphere, cheesecake dessert. "Can't find anything resembling a cheesecake here?" Was the remark of family guest. The staff were all miserable except for one chap named Alfie, who was friendly, keen to please, and a delight. Being in the trade myself, I would guess that they have too many covers to handle, and in so saying, they should maybe just stick to doing roasts only on a Sunday. It might decrease their trade slightly, but at least they would hopefully get it right.
Demetri's W — Google review
My goodness, the food is absolutely dreadful. Completely stale potatoes and veg. Worst Yorkshire pudding I’ve ever had, barely edible. Barely a mouthful of beef with the roast. Honestly, you should be ashamed to serve such horrible food. Otherwise, the pub is nice, but you MUST avoid the food.
G Q — Google review
Just had an excellent meal here. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The tables were all very clean, not sticky and nicely spaced out. The food itself was tasty and very filling. I will definately eat here again if in the area
Jason K — Google review
This place has been going for a long time but it's the first time I'd been in here since it was a full service restaurant rather than a carvery. This was for a family meal so adults and kids / roast dinners. The place was busy so there was a bit of a wait on food but that was to be expected. The food was decent. Theyre cheeky in that if you want a full selection of veggies you have to order them as sides so it puts the cost up quite a bit. You do get the basic roast potatoes, carrots & red cabbage though. I also had to order gravy as what had been served was minimalist. Sauces & condiments were ordered and the servers seemed to have too many tables to look after at the same time because we had to ask 2 or 3 times and even then we didnt get everything we ordered :( the dessert was decent. I ordered a miniature apple & rhubarb crumble w custard & ice cream and it was just the right portion size. Someone else in my party ordered the biscoff cheesecake and another ordered the chocolate brownie. There were no complaints! Overall the meal was decent and we had a nice time but it was the service that let it down a bit. I would come back here, but perhaps not on a Sunday lunchtime. Its suitable for all ages. Its also useful they have a free car park adjacent to the venue.
Lion Q — Google review
Arriving had a warm welcome and the atmosphere was welcoming staff were lovely. Had to wait a long time for food and drink. When the food arrived my chicken was very tough and i couldn't cut it, only very little of it I could eat. Very disappointed as it's the first time coming here.

The Bullfinch is a fantastic pub, offering a wide selection of beers and ales. The food is of high quality and absolutely delicious. The pub is spacious, with plenty of tables and a large garden area outside. The staff are attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall experience. They host various themed nights and a popular quiz night, so it's best to book in advance as these events fill up quickly. Also had a birthday recently and Bob and Mandy made it super enjoyable . This pub is a true gem in Sevenoaks—visit them, and you won’t be disappointed.

Gastropub
The Plough in Ivy Hatch is a charming 17th-century inn that perfectly captures the essence of a traditional country pub while offering a modern twist. Located near the historic Ightham Mote, this gastropub specializes in locally sourced ingredients and serves up mouthwatering dishes with European flair. Steak enthusiasts will be delighted by their rare breed steaks, some large enough to share, alongside home-reared pork that's been naturally fed and matured for exceptional flavor.
I have lived locally for 18 years snd have seen The Plough change owners a few times. Sine the new owners have taken over I have visited a number of times and have to say how lovely and welcoming they are. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is spot on! So pleased we have such a wonderful pub on our doorstep. The fish n chips is huge and delicious! Can’t wait to try the Sunday roast which I’ve heard is the best around .😋😋

We came across this lovely little pub on a Sunday, and though we didn’t make a reservation, they managed to get us a small table. We ordered the roast lamb with all the trimmings. The portions are HUGE, cooked perfectly and delicious. The service was amazing and attentive. If we’re in the area again, we’ll definitely be stopping here.

Quiet pub set in scenic countryside. Friendly staff who could accommodate us for a meal despite the earlier closing time for the bank holiday. Delicious pie roast and sides, and a scenic terrace to eat at if the weather is good. Will definitely be back!
Matt N — Google review
Good place for impromptu lunch with family after a visit to Igtham Mote which almost didn't happen as our booking was cancelled twice and our order didn't make it through to the kitchen so we had to wait a very long time for food. The food was good when it finally arrived and large portions. Not the cheapest place for Sunday lunch and quite difficult to park as obviously a popular place
Sara N — Google review
A lovely high-end-ish pub offering great food. The pork belly was one of the very best I've ever had. The dessert (lemon curd parfait) was just genius - a delicate balance of flavours and texture. When we visited on Sunday, only set menus were offered, which was a little bit inconvenient if you only wanted a quick bite like in our case. The service was friendly while they were present, but the wait between courses could be better managed.
Sally Z — Google review
Amazing lunch, the staff were so nice and attentive. We had three of the starters, all of them were delicious. The truffle butternut and pigeon were our favorites. We also had non alcoholic cocktails, even though it wasn't on the menu, really great! The inside of the restaurant looked really good, very beautiful scenery. It must be lovely for dinner as well, with the lights that are coming from the ceiling through the flowers. The food has French accents but elevated and the flavors are beautiful. We had a main each, and shared a dessert as well, it was amazing food. Beautifully presented and cooked, worth it all the way through! We will definitely come again, to try the pub menu next time definitely!
Charlie L — Google review
We had a lovely lunch at The Plough. We sat outside as we had our dog with us. The fish and chips and the burger were delicious. The batter on the fish was just perfect.
Craig B — Google review
We had a lovely Christmas dinner in one of the pods which was beautifully decorated in winter Christmas in white and gold. We ordered in advance which made it all easier, but it was so busy. We were the second sitting so we had to wait while the first sitting left which wasn't too bad. The food was good but it all took a long time to come out. Put drinks took a long time to come out, we were given bread rolls 10 mins before our volute, then the butter arrived 5 mins after that. There were only 3 of us and the whole meal took 3.5 hours with long delays but the food was hot and very good. We had a lovely server, Carly who was clearly run off her feet. Then the pod leaked a little when it started to rain. It was a lovely, unique experience, expensive but it was Christmas. It would be nice to try the restaurant on a normal day, so we weren't put off by the delays.

Teal Cafe is a great place to enjoy a delicious breakfast, great coffee, and excellent vegan options. The staff are attentive and friendly, and the facility is clean.
Having passed here hundreds of times in the car, it was about time I stopped in for a full English. I was pleasantly surprised with how large the café is, and that it was relatively packed too considering it's quite out of the way. The decor is really lovely, and it feels cosy inside, and you can bring dogs inside too. The staff were great, and really friendly. We had the Teal Breakfast with black pudding added on, all the elements of the breakfast were perfectly done to my liking, and the egg yolk was still runny too! Will definitely be back for another fry up at a later date

Car park was half full when we arrived, but the restaurant wasnt too busy. We were seated and had our drinks order in quickly, the staff very kind and organised. The breakfast was fantastic and good value for money. Certainly a very clean, well looked after restaurant, good food, great staff. Would recommend. Only downside was the slightly bumpy muddy car park, but the restaurant makes up for it.

First time at this cafe and very impressed. Used the cafe between a very warm sunny walk in Knole Park and a trip to the Himalayan Garden. A lot of parking and plenty of indoor and outside seating. Very good choice of food and drinks. Service was very good and the food and drinks were very good. A lot of people in the cafe at 10 on a Sunday morning.

We came across Teal Cafe on our way to visiting family in Kent. We thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic breakfast, with great service and a reasonable price (compared to what we pay in London). We had a chat with the owner when payin, she was very friendly and even sold us a couple of homemade cakes ... Which were absolutely scrumptious and the best we have had in a long time. Keep up the great work and we will be back 😀

Really beautiful gardens, we got to see the bluebells, tulips and the rhododendrons and azaleas were stunning! Staff were really friendly. Just a note.. If you aren't very mobile, then the woodland walk isn't for you as it's quite steep and uneven! Will definitely go back in the summer to see the roses. Had a lovely day. The entrance fee was £14 for an adult or £15.75 with gift aid.

Driving back from Hever we found the entrance to this place and decided to stop off. Really glad we did as we’ll definitely come back for a proper visit. The National Trust staff were very inviting and helpful. There are lots of different garden areas to explore and because it’s on a hill, the views are great. There is a cafe there for drinks and cakes at the Old Stables. It’s dog friendly too.

A brilliant place to visit to see lots of types of mushrooms including amanitas and devils fingers! You can have a good walk round the garden and see all the different types of trees too. A really good outdoor play area for the kids in the woods and a quaint little cafe serving good food. Well worth a visit and dog friendly too.

Beautiful Garden, which I am sure we did not see all of. As we found it a smaller garden. We did the autumn trail which was really fun. I was very excited to see a toadstool. There appeared to be only one female toilet? Or that is what I was told waiting at the back at a very long queue. I did not wait and left the queue. I had a delious flap jack and my husband had a brownie, which we enjoyed whilst we waited for our children to finish the graffiti workshop. This workshop started half an hour late, as the tutor had not turned up, but the staff kept us informed of this and it was not a problem.

What a tremendous place to spend an afternoon! A late April visit enabled us to see the bluebells, tulips and cherry blossom in their full glory - but there was plenty else to enjoy besides, including some breathtaking views of the countryside for miles around and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. On a sunny mid-week afternoon we found plenty of parking with toilets, shop and garden entrance nearby. Picnic benches were located past the entrance with a pretty view and games available to keep kids entertained. Across the other side of the garden from the entrance is the tea room with indoor and outdoor seating (though the indoor seating area isn't vast and could be hard to get on wetter/colder days), and more toilets. A golf buggy was ferrying less able visitors from entrance to tea room and back. Definitely worth a return visit to see what's here at other times of year.
Matt H — Google review
Routes through the forest are well sign posted and vary in length. The gardens are well maintained and pretty. The park looked fun for the kids and there's a cafe too! Several benches are avaliable for rests when coming back up the hill 🙂

Wonderfully peaceful place to enjoy nature and bring your blood pressure down a few notches. This was our second ever visit here and it didn't disappoint. Great display of flowers of different kinds and guaranteed you'll have more than a passing interest in trees when you wander down the pathways and check out the different species that range from saplings to enormous mature specimens. A great way to spend a relaxing few hours.

Very beautiful garden. Apparently, it’s especially lovely in autumn. We went on a weekday before noon, and it was very quiet. We had a very peaceful and enjoyable time.

Having explored numerous restaurants and bars in Kent to find a suitable location for a civil wedding reception, we were thrilled to come across The Pheasant Plucker. The friendly staff, delectable cuisine, and an exclusive dining area on the upper floor equipped with its own amenities met all our requirements. Michelle, Stacey, and the entire team went above and beyond to ensure that our special day ran smoothly from beginning to end.
Our family was staying at Hever Castle and found this great restaurant through a suggestion from others on site. We’re glad we took the short 15 min ride to visit since the food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic. There are quite a few items to choose from to suit any member of your party. It is definitely worth a visit!

Really nice, clean and friendly country pub. Really well set up, dog and child friendly. Actually saw pheasants running around in the car park which explains the name. The food was good and as you can see, the Candy Floss cocktail was a hit-I enjoyed the drink whilst The Duchess enjoyed the raspberries. Alfie the chi was also a fan.

Really lovely pub with very friendly, welcoming staff. We had a cocktail, a glass of red and a coke to drink. We had the chicken and ham hock gratin to start followed by moules marinere for me and a lamb kofte kebab for my friend. The starter was absolutely superb and the mains were very delicious! The bill came to £96. The pub decor is really well done and makes for a pleasant atmosphere. There were quite a few dogs so it is very dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Came here after a lovely walk around chiddingstone castle. Food was really tasty - the fish and chips was possibly the best ive ever had. Starters were good, would recommend the crab aranchini. Unfortunately the only thing that let this place down was the slow service and the waiter did spill half of my drink (this was obviously accidental) but did not offer compensation or a replacement of my drink. However, my dog did enjoy lapping it up off the floor 😂

Best Sunday Roast ever - and I'm someone who wouldn't usually care for it (due to the number of average-to-poor experiences I've had). Everything was perfectly cooked and tender, with a yummy gravy. Can't wait to go back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the best pub experiences I’ve had in a long time! This place oozes character — cosy, homely, and full of charm. The staff are wonderfully attentive, and the food is outstanding. The beef stew and venison burger were absolute standouts — perfectly cooked and packed with flavour. It’s a quaint gem tucked away in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nature — the kind of spot you almost don’t want to share so it stays special. Highly recommend!

That's our favourite pub around here. Great gastro pub with high quality food served, you won't be disappointed for sure. Such a lovely pizzas they making here, and most restaurants will be straggling to beat them. Very good roast beef we had here as well. You can also taste lovely local wines.

Rarely - never - have I ever said thank you to a repulsive smoker; but on this occasion - thank you to the repulsive smokers on the terrace outside the restaurant for forcing us onto an inside table. Very comfortable and very friendly staff were the preludes to a fantastic meal. Excellent quality, great flavours, good portion size. Really good. Perhaps the terrace could be made a totally non-smoking area; as could the children’s play area to truly make this an outstanding restaurant.

Nestled in the charming Darent Valley, The Bricklayers Arms is a traditional village pub that boasts stunning views of a serene lake. This delightful establishment offers a daily changing menu featuring British and European dishes, ensuring there's always something new to savor. Perfectly situated at the end of a scenic 19-mile trail along the River Darent, it’s an ideal stop for dog walkers looking to unwind with their furry friends after an invigorating stroll.
Lovely find, great food and reasonable prices. Dog friendly Bread was beautiful 😋

Came here to meet a friend ½ way. The roast dinner was a good size, reasonably priced, the veg wasn't overcooked and the staff were quick and attentive. It could have been a tad warmer (I like things hot) but on the whole it was a nice meal. The pub itself looks like it's half way through a do-it-yourself refurb but tbh that wasn't an issue for me, I'm assuming it will be done soon. The staff were friendly and attentive, especially the guy behind the bar, very smiley and a super warm welcome. There was a nice relaxed and warm atmosphere about the place. Would definitely go back. Also opposite a large lake which looks like you could take a nice walk and up at the pub for cosy drinks after.

Visited for the first time. Pie of the day was delicious, fresh local meat, huge portions- reminded me of pies in Devon! Mash and chips were good too. Staff were friendly. Parking was on the road, its a small road which I can imagine at peak times would be busy, but there were no parking restrictions. Inside was a little small not a huge amount of seating and the outdoor seating was only 4 tables (overlooking the road and then the lake), but overall a decent reasonably priced country pub with seemingly good quality food. Worth a visit, would recommend opting for their local food!
Jasmine C — Google review
Firstly need to say that the staff were absolutely lovely and the jam sponge and custard was delicious. Sadly the rest of our experience wasn't as good. We were sat at the back of the pub, near the toilets - which we could smell, it was very dark, cold and needed a good clean. The roast chicken was over cooked and the roast potatoes were under cooked, everything needed seasoning. Considering the quality I think it was over priced at £17. A real shame as I can see from reviews that others have had a much better experience, hoping this was just an off day in the kitchen.

Visited on a Saturday evening for a couple of drinks. The atmosphere was lovely, a few locals at the bar, ambient music, which all reminded us of the Bricklayers we know. New manager is doing a great job, and we will definitely be back for a Sunday roast soon.

Friendly service and sizable portions. I recommend the sausage and mash although the onion gravy could have been thicker. They also accomodated us by doing sausage and chips because one of our guests didn't like mash. I had the cheese burger with bacon. I dont think the bacon added to the dish but good all the same. The desserts were really good. I would recommend the Bailys cheesecake. The 3 scoops of ice cream was good with the salted caramel getting a thumbs up. There was a good selection of beers. Harveys IPA was nice.

Nestled in the picturesque Elham Valley, The Kings Head is a delightful gastropub that beautifully marries rustic charm with eclectic global cuisine. With its inviting outdoor seating and lush garden, it’s an ideal spot for families looking to enjoy a quirky meal in one of their bookable huts. This award-winning establishment boasts a carefully curated selection of local ales, craft beers, and exquisite wines from the Garden of England.
Delicious, fresh food, fairly priced, well presented, and piping hot. We shared garlic and cheese ciabatta, and then both had cod burgers, which came with slaw and skin on fries. 2 alcoholic drinks each, and it came to just under £80.00 Attentive staff. Good atmosphere. Nice mix of music. Would go again.

This place is a gem! Good google reviews do not lie😂 after a nice sunny day at Knole Park, we came here for that scrumptious weekend meal! And the food was mouthwatering 🤤 If only this place is next door to us, I would frequent The King’s Head. And the staff were so lovely too. I like the idea that there is a part of the outdoor seating that is non-smoking section. Again our food was a bomb! 🤩

We had a lovely early evening drink and supper here sitting in their very spacious garden. Friendly bar service and good choice of food and wine by the glass. Food came quickly. Mr S’s pea risotto was very good. The real deal. I had burrata (very nice) and prawn pil pil had nice tomato sauce but prawns a bit disappointing. Ice cream delish and apple crumble looked great but lacked flavour.

Ok, most of the group enjoyed their food, on the other hand I had quite a number of issues! I e mailed the venue two days ago asking if they had very rare beef, I was told yes, just tell the waitress. I ordered the beef and the first plate arrived almost an hour after we arrived, was grey mostly, so I sent it back. The next plate I was served had some central pink, but peripherally it was grey. The sirloin was of mediocre quality was cut wafer thin with maybe 15% gristle and fat. My expectation wasn't michelin food, but I was expecting the parsnip and roasts to be properly cooked and sadly they weren't. The sage stuffing had a weird jelly like consistency. Unexciting desserts with ok ice cream. Toilets beautifully presented and staff were in general really lovely, although our "meet and greet" lady was very surly but improved later. Tables far too close in places, badly laid out. Overall not great for me ok for others. My partners 15 year old niece wanted a children's menu, bizarrely they bought her a high chair! They need to give accurate information via email mail

I took my family for Sunday lunch and paid £200. We only had soft drinks. We had three starters; soup of the day and camembert, which were lovely. Three of us had the Angus beef roast and one had the roast chicken. The chicken was excellent but the beef wasn't. The two slices of beef (2mm thick) had too much fat for my liking and there just wasn't enough beef, especially at that price. My plate had too many potato which were slightly undercooked. Menu states cauliflower cheese, we didn't have any. Vegetables were cold. The Yorkshire pudding was excellent. The desserts were excellent. The staff were lovely and efficient. The food came out in a timely manner too. I wish I had gone for the chicken.

Came here Monday to celebrate our sons birthday. We hired one of the huts, which was dressed beautifully - very boujee. It made the whole celebration more personal and special. Even though we were outside the service was great and there was even a button to order more drinks and food when needed. Staff really friendly and attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great day. We had a big table, plus an extra one as more people came, which was not a problem as the staff were very accommodating. All courses came out as they should, with no one waiting for their meal. Always a hard task with a big table. The food was great, presented beautifully, very tasty and enjoyed by all. I had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection. It was delicious!! Thanks Kings Head team for a great afternoon.

I visited the bar an hour ago, it was relatively empty with very few customers as it was Thursday, I asked the bar lady about their wine options, she was dismissive and disrespectful pointing to the menu, I picket it up and ask for a glass of wine, she said she was busy, Another bar lady behind her was not busy, she never offered her service, I was waiting for 5-10 min hoping one of them would serve me, then a couple entered the bar and they were immediately served and completely ignoring me. I was deeply disappointed and sadly I had to leave. Poor service and bad manners ..

Pub
Nestled in a picturesque location, The White Horse is a charming pub that prides itself on serving fresh, locally sourced produce alongside Timothy Taylor's house ale and two rotating cask ales. It's an ideal spot for dog lovers, with nearby walking routes leading to Idle Hill or Sundridge Lake and park. Guests can indulge in hearty meals like the Sunday roast—especially the lamb—which offers great value for money with generous portions.
The White Horse is in a small village called Sundridge. Although it is located on a busy road it is very quiet inside. They have a lovely garden to sit in and watch the world go by. Their beers are very reasonably priced. I have not had any food yet but going to try it soon. If you fancy a quick pint or two pop in as the locals are friendly.

Wow! If I could give the service 6 stars I would, nothing pretentious just 100% genuine lovely people. Probably the best fish and chips I've ever tasted in my 48 years on the planet. The roast was excellent, and the price was incredible.

Went for Sunday Lunch to try out a new place in the area but came out very disappointed. Service was ok although we were the only table in the restaurant but the food quality was terrible. All starters were straight out of some cheap freezer bag. It really doesn't take much to make some haloumi sticks or prawns from fresh. The main roast weas terrible. Everything must have been prepared a month before and reheated. Flavourless mash of veggies and chewy meats.
Robert M — Google review
Four of us enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast at The White Horse. Compared to some other pubs, it offered very good value for money at £16-18 per roast, especially the lamb, which my wife and I had. Portions were generous and service efficient, although it would have been nice if the extra gravy (which comes as standard) was brought out with the food. The pub was a little lacking in atmosphere and there was a slight chemical smell around the bar/entrance area, but it wouldn’t put us off returning.

Really neat little place to stop by for a pint and some great dishes after a walk! I had the disco fries which I would 100% recommend. Stellar atmosphere, had ample parking even on a Saturday afternoon. Super friendly staff as well. The parasols in the beer gardens could use some base weights to stop them moving around when it gets windy though 😅

Lovely restaurant in Sevenoaks. The place is located few mins walking distance from the train station. The food was delicious, my steak was just perfect. The restaurant is big and spacious, the service was a bit slow and not very attentive I must say they need to improve in that respect. You can pay with cards or cash.

We went here for a group get together of 14, hearing that it had amazing food and good service. Myself and my husband had our attention drawn by a utube food review blogger who gave glowing comments. So we had to try it. It certainly did not disappoint. Considering the number of us, they accommodated us well, the service was excellent and most importantly the food was amazing and with generous portions. The atmosphere was lovely and the surroundings were elegant but understated. Most of our group commented they were very likely to return. The value we thought was great for the food we were given. Parking is a bit limited out the front but there are car parks close by. I am not sure it is wheelchair friendly, although you could sit in the downstairs area. Access into the restaurant is through a single door with steps however, so something to consider if you require those facilities. We will certainly be returning at some point in the future.

Good food and portion sizes but an overzealous floor manager who was “guarding” empty window seats on a quiet Sunday night dinner time when two us asked for table for 4 by window, that remained empty for the evening. 😅

A birthday meal with friends. Luckily managed to park outside in the road just after 19.00, don't think they have a car park. Upon entering, you see the hot grill sizzling and the sight of meat on skewers cooking. Nice man held the door open. My party was already there, seated on the 2nd floor. On my way to them, lots of filled tables, quite busy. Attentive staff, quick to take drink orders, and allowed us time to catch up and view the food menu. Empty glasses and plates quickly removed. The food was lovely. The lamb kebab was outstanding, simply cooked and delicious. As standard, the mains are accompanied by rice, bulger wheat, and salad. No problems throughout the meal, service charge automatically added, about £6 a head. Toilets on the 3rd floor. I didn't have dessert or coffee or liqueurs, so I can't comment. I couldn't manage to eat all my mains as I gorged on the hummus and prawns. They were happy to pack it up for takeaway. An enjoyable experience and one that we will repeat. 6 people eating, we split the bill and rounded up for convience, £60 per person.

GAIL's Bakery Sevenoaks is a delightful gem that perfectly embodies the artisanal brunch culture, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area. Known for its stunning array of cakes and freshly prepared pastries, this bakery has become a local favorite, especially during challenging times like lockdowns when their offerings drew long queues. The inviting atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to enjoy a coffee or catch up with friends while savoring delicious treats.
Faultless service! I am a regular visitor to this lovely bakery with friends. The pastries are delicious and the staff always very friendly and welcoming. I wanted to say a very big thank you to Harriet who was so kind this morning. I had Being in to buy something and when I arrived at another shop I realised that I didn’t have my bank card with me and thought I must’ve left it at Gail’s. She went well above and beyond by going out & retracing my footsteps in order to help me find it. Thank you so much, Harriet - you were a complete star!!

Customer service was excellent, and the food selection was fantastic. They even offered me a sample of their bread, which was absolutely delicious! The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about creating a great experience. The bakery itself has such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere — perfect for grabbing a coffee, meeting a friend, or just relaxing with a pastry. Everything looked freshly made, and you can really taste the quality in each bite. The pastries were flaky and rich, the coffee perfectly brewed, and the bread had that wonderful fresh-from-the-oven aroma. I’ll definitely be coming back — This Gail’s has quickly become one of my favourite spots!

We went here for lunch yesterday. The food was good but unfortunately because they were severely understaffed it hindered the experience. Almost all the tables & chairs were dirty with old food & wrappers, general cleanliness severely lacked and we were not able to use cups, plates or cutlery because they were only doing takeaway that day - though nobody told us this until after we had paid for our food & then received it in takeaway bags. This made it awkward to eat the food. Not the staffs fault, but clearly this branch needs better management, as this is not the experience you expect from somewhere like Gail’s.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but I felt I had to after my experience here. The lady on the till was lovely and welcoming, but unfortunately the young girl making the coffee was extremely rude. Both myself and my friend were spoken to with total disrespect, which completely ruined what should have been a simple coffee stop. Customer service makes such a big difference, and sadly the attitude we experienced really let the place down. Won’t be coming back. 09/09/2025 - 13:25

I just want to share my thanks to the lovely lady who served me today. My newborn was kicking off to the extent that I couldn't even hear the server but she was so kind and told me to take a seat and she'd bring me my order. She then asked if I needed water and told me to give her a shout if I needed anything at all. I so appreciated her kindness and it shows how much difference a small gesture can make to a difficult day. Thank you!

Dulce's Patisserie is a charming gem that beckons visitors to indulge in its delightful offerings. Nestled within narrow lanes, this patisserie boasts an impressive array of treats, from savory quiches and sausage rolls to delectable pastries like croissants and macaroons. The sweet selection is equally enticing, featuring cakes that are nothing short of heavenly—especially the Black Forest Gateaux, which has garnered rave reviews for its exceptional quality and flavor balance.

Incredible 😍 I had the black forest gateaux and it was a taste sensation plus my lemon slush drink wow and my mum said her carrot cake was absolutely delicious. 100% highly recommend if your in Sevenoaks. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Exceptional choice of cakes🍪🍰🧁 🎂🎂CAKE HEAVEN🍰🧁 We started our Kent experience enjoying one of the most delightful cakes that I have ever eaten. Black Forest Gateaux, absolutely exceptional quality. Soft and smooth, sweet at the right point for our likes. Cappuccino is delicious taste really café! The place is decorated with lovely touches and comfortable seats. Service 10 at 10. Clean spot on. I would definitely come back and recommend.

When first entering this quaint little shop you might not see the smiling face behind the counter because your eyes will be feasting upon a selection of sweet delights - so many to choose from. I decided to just have a milkshake and sausage roll but will DEFINATELY be back to try something sweet soon!

Even though I shouldn’t be eating sugary stuff no more, but just can’t resist this shop! The staffs are so cute and nice 👍🏻 great atmosphere and good selection of sweet and savouries.

Maybe we were unlucky , and it’s not the norm , but my husband bought Victoria sponge and red velvet slices for take away on Saturday 3rd May . Both cakes tasted like something you would get from supermarket box cakes . Overly sweet and on the hard side . I have never tasted red velvet with frosty icing ? To my understanding it would normally come with cream cheese . Not in this case , there was a hard frosting layer on the outside and even some going through the cake . Victoria sponge - it felt like I ate spoonful of sugar ,all I could taste was grains of sugar and I’m really not exaggerating here .

Visiting the area and so glad we stopped off here. Great selection of incredible food. Quiches, sausage rolls, paninis, croissants, cakes, cookies, macaroons etc. Milkshakes are beautiful, especially cookie and cream. Best dark chocolate mousse I have ever had!!! The food is exquisite and the staff are exceptional, all lovely, smiley, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this patisserie and we would definitely return if we visit the area again. Thank you!

This is a hidden gem in Sevenoaks. Down the side lane off the high street serves the loveliest French style patisserie and tarts. I order the strawberry tart, decaf Americano and some Madeline cakes to go. A friend order the pineapple cake and it was massive. Coffee was perfect and cakes were a delight! What a joy on a Sunday afternoon!

Restaurant
The Restoration is a 17th-century pub that has been given a modern touch with its wood-lined interior and outdoor patio. It serves hearty lunches and evening snacks to patrons who can enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of Seven Oaks square. This Shepherd Neame Pub stands out in the sunlight, attracting people who leisurely sit with drinks in hand, observing passersby.
Came for a quick drink, first visit. Nice place, not a huge place inside but cosy nonetheless. Great choice of drinks. Prices reasonable. Service ok. Loved the real fire but unfortunately they have just one table placed right in front of it, sadly it's not a large place so not much they can do about it. Food available but we didn't stay for food. They have live music, not on when we went but it must get a bit tight with space when they do.

Love this place, especially in the summer! Easily the best pub in Sevenoaks! Will and the team are fantastic, always serving a great selection of food and drink with a smile!

Perfect for a winter’s day, lovely fire and cosy atmosphere. Didn’t try the food but great choice of wine and some fun Halloween decorations.

Best fish and chips I’ve had. Light, thin and crispy batter all around, a beautiful large fillet of Haddock. I also liked that it wasn’t seasoned with salt allowing customers to season as they please with salt and pepper shakers provided.

The black boy is instantly noticeable when the sun shines in Seven Oaks square. There is a flood of folks sitting comfortably drink in hand watching as the people pass by. This Shepherd Neame Pub offers a brunch style menu; in tune with its sibling The Oak Tavern the menu is suited to complement the beverages, filling a gap. Lovely pub, svelte interior and friendly staff. A great place to relax when the weather is bright, beautiful & brilliant.

Good choice of beers, wine, spirits and cocktails. Good atmosphere. The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Great pub.

We held our daughter's baby shower here. Lovely venue and easily held the 50 - 60 guest we had and with our decorations the it looked fantastic in there. The staff are very helpful and provided us with everything we needed. Very reasonably priced as well, would definitely use them again if we needed a venue of that size.

Basil, located on Bank Street, is a popular spot offering a cool cafe atmosphere. The nearby Hive restaurant is also highly recommended, featuring an enchanting garden with a 70-year-old maple tree. For those with a sweet tooth, Dulces Patisserie is the place to go. Visitors have praised Basil Sevenoaks for its excellent tea and helpful staff. The cozy cafe in an ancient cottage offers tasty food, coffee, and smoothies, with several vegetarian and vegan options available.
Found this lovely cafe on a wander round Sevenoaks - it’s very cosy inside, the people running it were very friendly and chatty. Its also dog friendly on the ground floor, our two little dogs had a relaxing wee time there. Food was delicious we had some panini + salad meals, amazing pancake stack and soup. All yum. Will be back next time we’re in Sevenoaks.

Sad coffee. This milky plain soup they called a cappuccino was a “downlight” of my day 😂 Idk if this is because they have a commercial coffee machine with buttons instead of an actual coffee shop setup. Guys even Costa coffee has a tastier cup of coffee, did not expect this place to lose this competition.
Mills R — Google review
Well, I don’t know what I was expecting but I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. Impromptu breakfast this morning to plan my day, I walked in to ask if they had an outdoor seating area but the whole downstairs of the restaurant is doggy friendly! Result! The mocha was banging and my goodness my avo, bacon and halloumi on toast was so good I almost fell off my chair after the first mouthful.

Today (7/7/25) the 2 men running the restaurant were spectacular, my family and I spent a good 4 hours in this cafe. They were attentive and run ragged; all the food and drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was lovely and music was great. Your staff is a credit to your business.

Nice food BUT unfortunately you can’t pay cash unless you have the exact change. A bit of a nuisance. I witnessed 3 couples who had to leave because of this. Such a shame.
Dana D — Google review
A disappointment is how I’d describe our first (and probably last) visit to this Sevenoaks ‘café’. Here’s what I liked: • Somewhat friendly welcome. • Promising looking menu What I didn’t like: • The pancakes which seem to be a prominent offering aren’t made fresh but rather in a ‘production facility’ according to the server. • The bacon sandwich was a let down. The bacon dry, the bread roll heavy and dry and overall not very pleasant and served with an unnecessary leaf garnish. (Caveat: I don’t eat swine but my guest does and said it was awful). • The toasted teacake was passable but only just and certainly not worth the cost. • Not particularly comfortable seating • Very expensive and really not good value at all. It never ceases to amaze me with these independent places. They must think people are stupid to put up with what they turn out. Independent businesses don’t have the luxury of the deep pockets the chains have so need to put a bit more effort in or their days are numbered. Never more so than now so be careful Basil and up your game! Do I recommend going? NO Will I go again? NO Was it good value? NO Price point: $

Fabulous cafe with delicious cakes. The guy serving today was a star - running the place single handedly with a smile. Lovely healthy options for cakes too.

Thai restaurant
Giggling Squid in Sevenoaks is a delightful haven for those craving authentic Thai cuisine, particularly seafood. This charming eatery captures the essence of Thailand with its warm atmosphere and vibrant flavors, making it a beloved spot for both locals and visitors. During my visit, I was treated to an unforgettable meal that left me yearning for more! The restaurant prides itself on sustainability by offering food without plastic packaging, catering to various dietary preferences like gluten-free and vegan options.
Food was good, was very full by the end, the golden money bags and the pork dumplings were my favourite. The hot ginger cocktail was my dad’s favourite. However we were seated right next to the stairs even though we made a reservation. Service was good aswell even tho it was busy, servers were attentive.

Lovely decor and atmosphere in the restaurant, everywhere clean and served quickly by pleasant staff. Food was delicious - my first time trying a massaman curry and I would definitely have it again. Everything flavoursome and served piping hot. Only downside was the portion size of the garlic noodle side, for the price I would have liked slightly more. Allergens were very clearly labelled and they took extra care with my dishes which was really reassuring for someone who gets anxious trying new places. Cocktails were delicious too, will be back!

A quick light lunch on a wonderfully sunny day. The outdoor seating was minimal but enough to get the sunshine. Ordered the Zingy Prawns plus the Salt & Pepper Squid for starters from the sharing plate which both were amazing. For mains we went with the Prawn Pad Thai which also was great. I really liked the idea of having the peanuts on the side to allow for me to add the quantity I wanted. Overall a great meal. Would come definitely come back.
Stanton G — Google review
What an absolute find!! As it was mid-week, it was very quiet, which initially concerned me. We decided to chance it anyway. We started with cocktails, which were delicious and pretty. The food was outstanding for the money. The best salt and pepper squid I've ever had (and I have tried a lot). We also had the Chubby Pork Cheeks and they were beautifully cooked and so tender. The portion size was good too. However, the taste bomb that was the mushrooms and crispy tofu in tamarind sauce wrapped in some roti was epic. I couldn't stop eating it for the flavour alone. The staff were attentive but not overpowering. They were friendly and a good laugh actually. Have already recommended and would definitely return to try some other yummy looking dishes. Although it shall be hard not to revert to the same tasty dishes knowing how good they were. Great decision to eat here.

Indian restaurant
If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience, Oaks Spice is definitely worth a visit. This charming Indian restaurant offers hearty portions that will leave you feeling completely satisfied. The friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere, although they may not always be the most attentive. Expect to enjoy classic dishes like properly tandoor-cooked paneer tikka and fresh naan, all served with generous sides and flavorful sauces. While some dishes might lean towards milder flavors, the overall quality of food shines through.
We enjoyed our dinner in this restaurant - food was freshly cooked and delicious; customer service very professional.

A nice if unremarkable Indian that’s reasonable value and you’ll leave feeling stuffed! Staff were friendly but not very attentive and we were 1 of 2 parties. It took 15 minutes to get a menu but food came quickly after that. Kingfisher and Cobra are available, poppadoms came with generous quantities of sauces and an extra one. Food was hearty, seriously a main and rice will fill you up - sides were generous too. Nothing was that spicy and perhaps a little too we’ll cooked on the prawn front. Desserts were definitely frozen - so hard it took some work to eat them and one came with the plastic under-tray still in place.

I adore going to a very, very fancy restaurant - as long as the spirit is genuine, like it's their pleasure to welcome you.

Only able to call to order which is usually fine but the they misunderstood our order (gave us meat dish when we ordered a something vegetarian!) Online ordering just works so much better! Also specifically asked for spicy and neither our curries had any spice… at all! Not a bad curry just really not very authentic :|

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Sevenoaks, Deckhouse is a delightful new independent restaurant that has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. This charming eatery not only welcomes furry friends but also boasts an extensive tapas and lunch menu filled with delicious options, including plenty for vegetarians. During my recent visit, I was greeted by friendly staff who provided excellent service, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Really great experience for a Sunday lunch at Deckhouse. The atmosphere is nice and chilled, with outstanding service. Hamza gave top tier hospitality and made us feel well looked after. Food was yummy and the pasta portion size was enormous, so good value for money. Would happily visit again.

The salmon teriyaki which we both had was very nice as was the side of grilled vegetables. This is an attractively decorated restaurant with an Ibiza style sundeck for outside dining. It was 3pm Saturday so quite quiet after the lunchtime diners had mostly left. Service was very good and we felt well looked after by Miracle, she made our visit worth the trip from Bromley. We look forward to our next visit.
Richard G — Google review
Food, service and coffee were nice. Bigger plates would be good, it's tricky to eat off the small plates. The pancakes are underwhelming and seems as if they're missing an ingredient as the blueberry puree and compote are apparently mixed together. Loud inside and a bit difficult to hear at the table we were seated at, so maybe not the best place for a catch up. Good for a quick breakfast with the family.

This place was good not great. We got a table quickly but it took 30 mins for our order to arrive, which wasn’t fun with a hangry 6 year old! The food was decent brunch fare, nothing special. Tiny portions. The staff were all lovely :)

🌟 Deckhouse Sevenoaks – A Flawless Experience from Start to Finish We recently held a large gathering at Deckhouse in Sevenoaks – around 25 to 35 people – and honestly, words don’t do justice to how amazing everything was. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and perfectly set up for our group. The team handled everything with ease, professionalism, and smiles all around – the chefs, the front-of-house staff, everyone. You could tell they truly cared about delivering an unforgettable experience. The food? Out of this world. Every single dish was spot on – beautifully presented, full of flavour, and served hot and fresh despite the size of our group. From the small plates to the mains and desserts, everything was cooked to perfection. People are still talking about it days later. The chefs deserve a special mention – you could taste the passion in every bite. It wasn’t just food – it was craft, skill, and heart on a plate. Hats off to the kitchen team. The service? Absolutely on point. Attentive but never intrusive, friendly but always professional. Drinks kept flowing, the timing was perfect, and any request we had was handled quickly and smoothly. It’s rare to find a venue that delivers on food, service, and atmosphere all at once, especially for a larger booking – but Deckhouse nailed it across the board. --- In short: flawless. If you're looking for a place where the food is amazing, the chefs are top-tier, and the experience is genuinely memorable – Deckhouse is it. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you to the whole team – you made our night unforgettable. We’ll be back, no question about it.

The George and Dragon is a charming village pub with a rich history dating back to the 16th century. The cozy interior features a log fire and eclectic decor, including framed articles about foraging and field-to-fork cookery. The pub offers an inventive daily-changing menu that emphasizes hearty, seasonal dishes made with local produce.
We found this amazing little place on our way home. The staff are amazing. So polite so helpful and super warmly, they make you feel like you’ve been there many many times! The food is out of this world I always say there’s always an aspect of a meal that can let you down. But this place was amazing at every point the food was unreal. This was the best way to top off a weekend with the family!

We had a wonderful lunch at the George and Dragon. The food was really outstanding, very tasty and the service very attentive. The staff were topping up our glasses of water at all the time. We sat outside, it was very pleasant, but the only annoying thing were the wasps wondering around our food. Highly recommended.

On a cold Autumn Sunday we stumbled upon this beautiful pub and were greeted by friendly faces and an open fire. It’s an old building and feels like a classic English pub. It was busy too. Very busy. But we were just two and they kindly squeezed us in and we were treated to the best Sunday Roast. We started with some homemade bread, roast garlic, olives and some beer from the local brewery in Westerham. It was all delicious and and great prelude to the main event - two thick slices of rare but very tender sirloin of beef accompanied by roast spuds, parsnips, carrots and a mound of tasty, green cabbage. There was obviously a good-sized Yorkshire pudding but also a huge jug of gravy which was left on the table so you could help yourself. We really liked that the horseradish was served by the waiter from a bowl rather than the obligatory jar of Colman's dumped on the table too. Nice touch. It really was a perfect roast. I’d love to tell you about the puddings but we were stuffed. Highly recommend - I doubt there’s a better Sunday roast in Kent.

One of the very best meals in a pub I’ve ever had - everything I ate was perfect. The seating in the garden is very pleasant and the staff were all very helpful and friendly (although we asked for some water a couple of times and it never arrived). The food is very very good value. The bread and butter was sublime, the mushroom and truffle risotto so creamy and decadent and the Eve’s pudding and custard so comforting and tasty. I would really like to return and try more things from the menu. Soon I hope!

Saturday lunch visit. Generally good food, nice to have the option of cheese for a dessert. Poke bowl was good, pork belly also very good, mushroom/tofu main lacked a little. Attentive service, very quick to fill water throughout our visit. We were upstairs, quite noisy for older visitors in our group.

Was previously underwhelmed by the food, so after the new owners (who previously ran life on high) took over we thought we'd give it a go. The burger was good - not outstanding though. A little dry, and the burger itself was ok but not super full of flavor. Chips are standard, not stand out. Wife got the home made sausages and mash, which was nice - but again not stand out. We liked the meal but food wise - unfortunately felt it was not a return to the former glory of what it was many years ago, just yet anyway.

My partner and I went to the George and dragon for spontaneous dinner out, as soon as we walked through the door, you could tell it was a lovely place, quiet, cosy and very welcoming. The food was absolutely to die for (thank you to the chefs), both dishes were melt in your mouth, left us wanted more with full stomaches. All the staff were really nice, helpful and friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening everyone, I was recommending your pub after the first bite.

Brewhouse Cafe is a charming spot located at Knole House, offering a delightful experience for visitors. The cafe is housed in a beautifully renovated 17th-century barn, where the modern serving area seamlessly blends with the historic architecture. The staff are known for their friendly and welcoming demeanor, and they offer an enticing selection of food and drinks. Guests can indulge in delicious options such as bacon and sausage baps, red lentil dhal soup, coronation chicken jacket potato, and more.

Received a “Victoria sandwich” Cake with no cream, which apparently is how it is which is fair enough but it was disgustingly dry and inedible. Upon trying to have it swapped I was point blank refused. I asked if I could buy a different cake and was told to go to the back of the queue! I would have thought a refund would have been offered, or better a simple swap. But I asked two different members of staff who were adamant there was nothing they could do. So I had to queue again and wait another ten minutes in line. As joint members who pay £120 per year it does make you wonder about renewing. I just was made to feel really silly and like I was being a pain.

⭐☆☆☆☆ I had a really disappointing experience at the café in Knole Park. The staff were extremely rude, unwelcoming, and made me feel like I was an inconvenience rather than a customer. The girls serving seemed completely uninterested, almost like they were doing the job because they had no other choice. There was no warmth, no friendliness, no sense of customer service at all. It’s such a shame, because Knole Park itself is beautiful and the National Trust usually sets a high standard — but this café really lets it down. A simple smile or some basic courtesy would make a huge difference.

We are regular customers and my husband almost always has a fruit scone but today's offering was very dry so he didn't think it was fresh.. If you do occasionally have to serve day old scones it would be a good idea to offer to warm them up. We did look for a microwave, as we know some NT cafes have them, but failed to find one.

Hiking area
Nestled near Ightham in Kent, National Trust's Oldbury Hill is a delightful escape into nature, perfect for families and dog lovers alike. This historic site features an Iron Age hill fort surrounded by enchanting woodlands filled with deciduous trees and vibrant greenery. While exploring the well-marked paths, visitors can enjoy the soothing sounds of birdsong and take in stunning views over the Weald of Kent.
Historic hillfort surrounded by pleasant woodland. A mix of deciduous trees, lush greenery and occasional golden sandstone rock exposures combine to create a lovely atmosphere, ideal for taking a walk on a summer day. Rock shelters exist within the woods, but proved illusive on my last visit. There's an unsurfaced parking area at the foot of the hill, from which a network of footpaths lead around the woodland.
Andrew T — Google review
A lovely spring walk through the woodland. Very few people around and the main road is far enough away that you cannot hear it. The path gets a bit steep at times but definitely worth the walk. The two main paths are signposted and the map at the car park is accurate. Definitely worth the visit.
Gary J — Google review
Beautiful beach and mixed woodland. Very small carpark, but limited parking in lane or across road in lane by pub. Marked paths around woods and public footpaths lead to wider footpath network.
Mark W — Google review
National Trusts Oldbury Hill is near Ightham in Kent. There are way marked parks through woodland, some climbs are a little steep but not too challenging. It is the site of an iron age hill fort but to be honest I couldn't find any evidence of it nor could a few other walkers that I asked. Despite that,it is a nice place to walk with birdsong everywhere and at some points some good views over the Weald of Kent. There is a small car park, space for around 20 cars. There is no charge to park or enter but you will not find any facilities like toilets.
W H — Google review
Lovely little woodland tucked away off of the A25. There is a small free car park located at the south entrance. A couple of really nice well signposted routes around the site.
Ian F — Google review
Really nice woods and is quite hilly on one side so tends to be more small groups / dog walkers and less families so it is really peaceful! Car park is small but plenty of space early on. When you park in the car park, head out across the road and ascend up to the ridge, then the walks are circular around the ridge. Don’t forget to download the map from the NT website (attached here for reference).
Chris B — Google review
Beautiful place to take the dogs for a walk or to go just for a walk. The people you meet on the walk are really friendly. Car park has a lot of pot holes so be careful parking in there.
Naomi L — Google review
Oldbury Hill and the surrounding woodland is a wonderful place to walk especially with your dog. The carpark can get busy but the woods are always peaceful and quiet.

National Trust - Old Soar Manor is a medieval manor located in Plaxtol, Kent, dating back to 1290. The manor offers a glimpse into the time of Edward I and features intact but empty rooms. Visitors can explore an exhibition room with informative boards and illustrations about the local village of Plaxtol. Although remote with limited parking and no facilities or staff, the manor provides a quiet and insightful experience for history enthusiasts.
Interesting little National Trust house that's free to visit and open daily (except Tuesdays) between 10:00 and 18:00 from April to September. It's unstaffed so visitors can look around the house at their own pace. The house is a rare survival of a 13th century knight's house, with an impressive timber framed roof and stone spiral staircase. A little onsite visitor room is rich with information about the house and the nearby village of Plaxtol. There's a small parking space by the road right outside the house. An unusual National Trust property a little out of the way, but worth a look while in the area, not too far from larger sites like Ightham Mote and Knole Park.
Andrew T — Google review
Well preserved 13th century knights house. Managed by the National Trust, this free to visit property dates from 1290 and, although small, gives a good insight to what things were like 700 years ago.
Andy P — Google review
Such a delightful experience. There is a quiet National Trust sign, on Tonbridge road, showing you the way. With many more to guide you from there. Upon arrival it has none of the usual pomp and ceremony at the entrance. Instead, free entrance with many notices explaining the history of this incredible medieval homestead. Thank-you to the volunteers who have so diligently and carefully put together the information boards! Well worth the time.
Dawn W — Google review
Free to explore National Trust property. Despite no staff on site, access is still within certain times. Worth checking this on the NT site. Interesting and historic building to explore. There is limited parking available on the road out front.
Ian F — Google review
A real hidden gem in the Kent countryside. Small in size, over 2 floors. Spiral staircase connects the 2 floors and not for the faint hearted, a rope is fixed to help. The floors are abit uneven so not the best for any disability issues, care is needed. Fascinating architecture. So peaceful and relaxing. No staff on site and free admission. Half hour visit time but it's just stunning in my opinion. Im in love with the building and happily move in. Parking is limited as on a narrow lane, enough space for probably 3 cars at max.
David — Google review
A rare, surviving 13th-century stone manor house built for a wealthy family in the Kent countryside. Most notably, the private family quarters, including the solar, chapel, and garderobe, remain intact, while the timber great hall was demolished centuries ago. Owned by the National Trust but is FREE for everyone.
Pete H — Google review
Rather remote location with almost no parking but worth a visit to see this small but lovely property. You will most likely find yourself there alone which adds to the atmosphere.
Gillian M — Google review
A 13th century knights house. Probably only survived as it's later life was used as a barn. Self guided tour. Only took us 3/4 hour.

The warm spiced apple juice was a delightful and unexpected introduction to the meal. 🍎🍵 The aubergine parmigiana was exceptionally flavorful, a truly satisfying dish.

First visit in this restaurant/shop. I enjoy this kind of places. Brilliant family business. So lovely to enjoy well prepared, authentic Italian food. It was all delicious and reasonably priced with a good selection of dishes; not pages and pages of choices like you sometimes find, but just enough (I had difficulty choosing as it was!) The service was spot on. Food arrived pretty quickly. So pleased to have stumbled across Marcos.... we will definitely return. The delicatessen shop adjoining the restaurant was amazing...very tempting! We bought Prosecco and spaghetti. I recommend

Absolutely amazing food, just the right size portions and a great atmosphere. Enjoyed by our party tonight. Packed on a Wednesday night. Luckily we booked and would advise anyone of thinking of going to do the same.

My family loved the food, service was to be expect from family owned. Good environment and authentic. Good choice food and menu was decent. My personal food, I thought chicken pizza was sloppy and I didn’t eat, the chicken escalope was under cooked. And me and my son didn’t eat, the roast pots and pasta side fkr it were lively. Great place authentic just some attention points on my food personally.

Very good pizza, very tasty salad and great lasagna. The staff is very helpful . I recommande to book as the place is quite crowded. After your meal you can take home some delicatessen from the shop. Enjoy your Italian experience
Isabelle R — Google review
Enter through the gift shop. That is, you’ll see so many lovely Italian products you’ll want to buy them before eating. The atmosphere is flexible and relaxed but feels authentic. Children are welcome and nothing felt rushed. The staff are -in the best way possible- in the background. They come at just the right time, hold back if you’re mid-sentence, efficient and friendly. You really should order wine, but if you want beer, they have some on draught. Either way you won’t be disappointed. The sharing starter is absolutely excellent, perfect for 2 or 3 to whet your appetite. The choice of mains is the full range of classics (Calzone to Sea Bass to Nduja), giving scope to stay safe or explore something new. A thoroughly lovely place to eat. Buon appetito!

Ephesus Mediterranean Grill & Cocktail Bar is a vibrant dining destination that perfectly blends modern flair with traditional Mediterranean flavors. Nestled on High Street, this lively restaurant boasts an expansive outdoor patio, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco during the summer months. The retractable roof ensures comfort even in cooler weather, making it a year-round favorite. The menu features an array of delectable dishes, including expertly grilled meats and fresh seafood options like grilled sea bass and chicken shish.
We had a private BBQ event / party at the weekend and I cannot give enough praise to the "restaurant quality " standard of food that they catered for us. It was outstanding. All our guests were blown away by it . I cannot recommend the food enough. The standard and quality of the meats, salads, rice & bulgar were top notch. You won't find better .

We came here last night as it was my mums birthday. We were served by Sahin and honestly it was maybe the best service I have ever received in a restaurant. Words can’t describe how nice he was. Even with a 3 year old and 6 month old no fuss at all was made and he even offered the 3 year old some strawberry ice cream!!! The food was exceptional as well - 2 lamb shishes, 1 chicken shish and a mixed shish platter. Everything was fabulous - perfect. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Thank you so much to everyone for a lovely evening!
Alex B — Google review
Amazing restaurant, great food and great price. I had the grilled sea bass and my girl got the chicken shish and we both throrougly enjoyed. The meals were well cooked a d presented. The cocktails were great and we made use of their Happy Hour. The outdoor seating is beautifully designed and makes lunches and dinners in summer amazing. The roof is also retractable so I can still see this outdoor area being comfy in the colder months. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and will be back soon.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had the most outstanding private catering experience from Ephesus Restaurant! The owner couldn’t have been more accommodating, ensuring every detail was perfect. The food was absolutely top-quality—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, catering to all our needs with professionalism and warmth. They truly made our event so special, and we can’t wait to visit the restaurant and dine in-house soon. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing service and attention from Ali. He gave us a good spot and engaged with our children. Large generous portions. They are willing to accommodate the kids with separating the burger sauce and toppings. We had 2 kids sharing kids menu and they gave a separate ice cream to our daughter. We can take our time during the lunch.

Ephesus is a fantastic spot for Turkish food in the area of Sevenoaks. It’s just off the main area and is a well decorated and modern restaurant. We ordered the meat meze menu which included a sharing platter of 9 cold starters, 4 hot mezzes and a huge grill of mixed meats. The dips and starters were perfect for sharing and getting started. The meats were well grilled and delicious and huge in portion. I believe there was a tiny bit of MSG but food in general was fresh and delicious. All paired well with some wine. Highly recommend if in the area!

Brilliant food. Very polite and respectful staff. Nice hot food. Excellent customer service 💯 I visit this place pretty much every day

This place is so good that I, a very lazy man, will ignore the delivery options offered by other kebab shops and actually get into my car and drive 20 minutes to pick it up. The food tastes amazing, not greasy, and fresh tasting (the salad is always crunchy, which is a good sign of a properly run grill with the right attention to detail). Even the prices are good for what you receive. Cannot recommend it enough.

It could have been the best meal I've ever had in my life. The staff were very good and the shop was very clean. I recommend it to everyone.

Extremely happy with the master special mixed grill, the flavour is the best we have had definitely with the grilled veg. The rice and chips had so much flavour as well. Pub
Nestled in the charming village of Plaxtol, the Papermakers Arms stands as a beloved local pub, the last of its kind in an area that once boasted seven. This inviting eatery offers a delightful à la carte menu alongside a midweek set lunch and a special children's menu, ensuring there's something for everyone. The interior strikes a perfect balance between modern brightness and rustic charm, featuring candle-lit wooden tables and a cozy wood-burning fire during winter months.
Great find, clean and comfortable seating. Lovely friendly staff 😊 The food was faultless! Caters well for vegetarian dishes, presentation was well thought out both on food and seating. Reasonable prices and seating available for just a drink inside and out. Short drive from Ightham Mote. Worth the drive and will be back👍🏻😊
Claire R — Google review
Popped in for a quick Sunday lunch.... we didn't buy any meat-based meals (as they seemed a bit too expensive), so we purchased a Halloumi burger and Sweet Potato and Beetroot dish (which were very nice). However, the pub had a serious lack of atmosphere at the time.
Steve H — Google review
Good pubs come to those who travel to Plaxtol. As soon as I popped my head into the Papermakers Arms I knew I was in the right place. The interior is modern, bright, but still has that country feel given the hearth and historic photographs. I loved reading the stories dotted on the walls; they invite the customer to not just a pub, but an institution. I also loved the decor of the tables; the Papermakers Arms leather table mats, candles and flower arrangements are beautiful. With all the poignant details, it was predictable the food would follow the same Qualities. Right I was; each dish was splendidly presented and prepared. There was thought put into the plates the food was showcased upon. I loved the service, down to earth, professional and caring. This was up there with the best pub food experiences of my life.

A lovely atmosphere here with fast, friendly service with a smile. Food was excellent with a good, if not relatively common, selection available. Reasonably priced with good accompanying selection of beverages of all descriptions. I was treated to a very good bottle of wine (photo attached) which is well worth a try. Warm, cosy, friendly and unhurried. A real delight and will definitely return for more.
