Nestled in the picturesque county of Kent, Leeds Castle offers a journey through time, from medieval chambers fit for a queen to the opulent 1920s. The castle boasts stunning gardens, golf courses, thrilling zip slides, and captivating falconry displays. In addition to Leeds Castle, Kent is home to other remarkable attractions such as Hever Castle, childhood home of Anne Boleyn; Canterbury Cathedral; and The Historic Dockyards Chatham.
Where do I begin? Me and my Wife visited Leeds Castle while spending time in Kent for a few days and wow! We were not expecting this castle to be amazing. The grounds are absolutely huge with plenty of sculptures to see and lots of beautiful wildlife and nature to explore. We arrived around 11am and we're welcomed by the kind and friendly staff who were very informative and friendly. Gave us plenty of information about the castle and the grounds We were taken away by how stunning the whole land is. Absolutely gorgeous landscape. There was plenty to see and do around the castle before entering the main castle. We went to the castle to explore all the rooms that were on display before making our way to the gardens and then the maze with an underground grotto in the middle. It was great fun and we got lost a few times in the maze haha. There was plenty of toilet facilities including baby facilities if required. Gift shops and a cafe to get a drink and some food if you want We will definitely be coming back as you pay once for the whole year and you can come back as many times as you want

I had a truly fantastic trip to Leeds Castle. This place is awesome—it genuinely feels like a jewel in a crown. While the entry cost is significant, it is absolutely worth the price because there is SO MUCH TO DO, making it an easy full-day trip. Even better, your ticket allows you to return for a whole year! The grounds are magnificent and incredibly varied, featuring beautiful hilly areas, serene lakes, and varied walled garden areas. Don't miss the maze, the epic-looking children's playground, the Birds of Prey display, and the unique and fun Dog Collar Museum (the only one, I believe!). Inside the castle is amazing, filled with great displays and information. What really stands out is the clear investment and the incredible staff. The whole operation is so well-organized, and there are countless staff members who were universally friendly, kind, and helpful. The café was especially great! The food was good, and the Lemon Drizzle Cake was absolutely sublime—a perfect break during the day. Plus, you can buy duck food in the gift shop—a small touch, but very fun for feeding the birds! Highly, highly recommend this incredible historical gem.

Wow, Leeds castle was stunning. Set in the countryside, the drive up to the castle you knew it was going to be spectacular and we weren't disappointed. The grounds are stunning. It just got better and better, the Maze, Falconry, castle. The food was good here and the restaurant was superb. There was a boat ride available on the lake, Go-Ape, play areas. You could easily spend a day here. The staff were polite and knowledgeable and the castle itself is steeped in history.

Leeds Castle is absolutely breathtaking — a true fairytale setting surrounded by beautiful gardens and a serene lake. The castle is rich in history and wonderfully preserved, offering fascinating exhibits and lovely walks around the grounds. The location is peaceful, and the atmosphere feels magical from the moment you arrive. A must-visit in Kent and one of the most beautiful castles in England!
Harsha J — Google review
Absolutely stunning castle afloat it's moat. Beautiful gardens as well, especially the Mediterranean area. Enjoyed seeing all the various sculptures around the gardens. Lots to see and do. Fun maze to get lost in. The castle itself is amazing and beautiful inside. Had a lovely chat with one of the volunteer guides. He informed us that sadly no black swans currently at the castle due to avian flu 🥲. You can have a boat trip on tge lake but this costs extra on top of the admission price!
Valerie H — Google review
We stayed in accommodation on site, marvelous location for a three night stay. Beautiful landscape and gardens, use of all facilities on site during our stay, castle is a fascinating place to visit with lovely walks in the grounds, a visit to the birds of pray is a good choice. All the staff are amazing and friendly and helpful.

A Fantastic Family Day Out! We had an absolutely brilliant family day out at Leeds Castle! There is a huge amount to see and do, with something to entertain everyone. The children had a blast in the giant adventure playground and on the sandy "Beach", and the Lickalix ice lollies were a massive hit with kids and parents alike! The hedge maze was a real highlight; it's genuinely challenging and great fun, with an incredible surprise waiting in the centre that completely blew us away (we won't spoil it!). The Birds of Prey display was spectacular. The handlers were fantastic, flying the birds right through the spectators, giving us a rare and unforgettable up-close view. We had so much fun exploring the grounds that we didn't manage to get into the castle before it closed. However, the "pay once, visit all year" ticket is fantastic value and gives us the perfect excuse to return. We will definitely be back!

Honestly, it’s hard to know where to begin with this enchanting place. The stunning castle stands majestically, with its intricate architecture and rich history captivating every visitor. Surrounding it, the gardens are meticulously maintained, bursting with vibrant flowers and lush greenery that create a picturesque setting. Children will find endless joy here, as there are several playgrounds equipped with exciting structures for climbing and exploring. Additionally, the delightful train and ferry rides provide a whimsical experience, allowing little ones to embark on their own adventures. This destination truly offers a perfect blend of beauty and fun for the whole family.lot of places for you to eat we where created with the motor event which was amazing and fun we will differently back before the break . We stopped off for a coffee before visiting the TV Studios. It was very busy, we didn’t think we would get a seat as six of us. However a couple of tables became vacant and the staff were very quick to clean these off for us. Great Chai Latte and coffee

Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats is a charming destination that offers a serene escape into the world of these lovable animals. Upon arrival, visitors are warmly welcomed by friendly staff who provide an overview of the sanctuary's operations. Entry is free, with a suggested donation to support the goats' care. The sanctuary features a cozy café where you can grab reasonably priced snacks and drinks, making it perfect for a leisurely day out.
Came here with my partner and dog at the weekend. We hadn’t been before but a staff member greeted us and explained how it all worked. She was very friendly and enthusiastic which was a nice way to be welcomed. Entry is free with a recommended donation of £5 - can be paid in cash or card. There is a small cafe on site which was very reasonably priced too. It is dog friendly but dogs must be on short leads at all times. Would not recommend for reactive dogs but the more docile dogs would be fine. The goats were curious and would look at our dog but kept their distance. The goats were all healthy looking and no signs of any distress - they seemed to really enjoy the company and treats. They are clearly well looked after. You can buy some feed and feed them through a fence; which we did and was fun. Was here for about 90 minutes and would recommend for a cheap visit - especially for kids.

I loved this place. It is perfect for people of all ages. Interacting, feeding and stroking the goats was so much fun. There were so many different breeds and they were all bonkers!! People in wheelchairs were also able to get amongst the goats which was great. There is also a little shop where you can buy souvenirs or even choose to sponsor a goat. Definitely recommended.

A recent visit to Buttercups Goat Sanctuary with friends proved to be a calming experience. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beautiful setting and the palpable sense of peace that permeated the sanctuary. It's clear that the goats are the priority here. They have ample space to roam, play, and express their individual personalities. Observing them, it was evident that they are genuinely loved and well cared for. The sanctuary provides a wonderful environment for these charming animals. The staff and volunteers we encountered were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Their passion for the goats and the sanctuary was evident, and they were happy to answer our questions and share their knowledge. The sheer variety of goats was a joy to behold – so many different shapes, sizes, and characters! It was simply lovely to spend a few hours in such a tranquil setting, enjoying the company of these gentle creatures. Buttercups Goat Sanctuary offers a wonderful opportunity for a few hours of peace, calm, and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will certainly be returning soon, this time with my grandchildren, to share this special place with them. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a heartwarming and relaxing experience.

Amazing little place. Really lovely to visit and the goats are all so cute. They are well looked after and you can purchase bags of goat food to feed them. You can also go into the pens and see them and stroke them. Such a brilliant place to go it.
Charlene W — Google review
A delightful place where you can chill out with goats! As we arrived a member of staff explained everything. It's £5 entry for adults, and this allows you to enter the goats enclosure. There is a gift shop where you can buy drinks and snacks. For £1 you can purchase a bag of goat food. We went into the main enclosure to see the goats first. Most are friendly and appreciate a scratch or tickle. Some have red collars to identify they can be a little unpredictable, so we let them do their thing unless they came up to us and wanted to be petted. There are several benches which we made use of and just watched the goats. A few were inquisitive and came up to us to say hello. After a while in the enclosure, we purchased drinks and crisps from the shop and sat on the benches in the goat free area. That was until a couple of the young goats who could fit under the fence came to join us. They literally sat on our table 😂 All the staff were amazing and told us about the different goats. Before we left, we purchased some goat food, and you can feed the goats from outside the fence. We had been made aware not to feed goats with purple collars due to dietary restrictions. We really loved our visit and will definitely be returning. It's such a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Think we have made a few goat friends. 🐐

Adorable little place! Got to go in with the many goats, stroke them and sit in their field. Even have the chance to adopt one, which of course I had to do! Bought some food for them also which was fun to watch them nibble on. Beautiful place to go

Nestled in the heart of Maidstone, the Newnham Court Inn is a charming pub that beautifully marries history with modern comfort. Such a fantastic experience and we were treated so well. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Treated my mum who has alzeihmers and was refusing to eat or drink at home but she enjoyed all that was served to her and finished everything. Can't wait to return Thank you Ellie and Kai. Great service

Had an enjoyable lunch sitting outside in the sunshine. The food was tasty, though the vegetarian Berger would have been better if it had a quality cheese slice on top rather than the normal cheese slices you get. The apple crumble and custard was delicious 😋. The service from the staff was excellent 👍

No complaints here, quick service. Me and the missus were in and out in about half an hour with food. Lovely looking place. Plenty of room and a large beer garden. The burger I had was absolutely delicious and I would definitely recommend it. Hunters chicken went down well too. Polite friendly staff. We've never stopped here but would visit again.

What a lovely pub/restaurant. We went in on a Sunday on the off chance for a roast. We was shown to a table and service was great. We had a wonderful meal and a pudding. The amount of food on our plates was very generous, and wow afters was delicious. So much to choose from, all staff that served us were polite. The pub is very welcoming so if you just wanted a drink it's a quaint atmosphere. Family friendly, and we will definitely be returning, mainly to try some new foods, but if its anything like their roasts, it will be delicious 😋. Thank you to all the amazing staff who was working on a very hot and sticky day and managed to keep host everyone so well.

Food was nice. Staff friendly but unfortunately there was a large group with lots of children that thought it was an inside playground. It made it difficult to hear our own conversation. I am all for kids having fun but these were feral.
Christina A — Google review
Always eaten here for a roast but recent one yesterday was not great. Had run out of turkey and also had no Guiness zero in...we had beef and a lamb roast. Looked OK but was lukewarm..,beef was chewy but lamb shank was nice. Sausages looked anaemic and not a lot of cheese (if any) on the cauli cheese. Your roasts used to be very nice but they seem have gone downhill and the prices have gone up!! Please sort 🤞

Castle View Restaurant, situated in a converted 1600s barn at Leeds Castle, offers delectable evening-only seasonal British cuisine. This charming eatery boasts a terrace that affords patrons breathtaking views of the castle. The establishment has received rave reviews for its impeccable preparation and presentation of dishes. The attentive wait staff is highly regarded and ensures an enjoyable dining experience.
Went to Leeds Castle today and ended up in Castle view restaurant. We didn't expect to have a Sunday Roast but we did. It was very tasty and substantial. I had roast beef, hubby had roast pork. Great selection of vegetables. Staff attentive but not intrusive. Obviously the view was spectacular. We wanted to give a tip but only took cash. We had no cash. Thank you all for a lovely, tasty lunch

We had 3 meals and only 1 out of 3 was nice, which was a butternut squash ravioli. The burger was served with cold fries and fish and chips had no flavour and came with cold fries. There was no salt or pepper on the tables, and no sauces offered. For the ice late we had to take sugar from the bar, in cubes, which was not the best combination when it comes to iced coffee. The decor and atmosphere were lovely, and the service was friendly and welcoming. The food however and the lack of basics like salt and pepper didn't leave a good impression.

We celebrated our anniversary there and they did try to make it special for us, with 2 free drinks and a nice dessert addition. The food was very nice, we ordered pork chop as the main and it was very really nicely cooked, and the sauce was fantastic. We view from the restaurant was beautiful, especially at night, looking at the castle and its reflection, quite magical. We had breakfast here the next morning and it was a great selection. We had the full breakfast which was very well cooked, and then there was a selection of bread, fruit, yogurt, ham and cheese, juices etc, a great to the day!

Fantastic menu and food quality. Great choice of cocktails reasonably priced. Service was a little patchy even though it didn't look that busy. But staff very nice. Only slight disappointment was the castle view, which you could not see well from the table due to the brightness of the restaurant lights, especially those around the window - which detrimentally affected the ambience. Only good photo opportunity was from the patio outside - so I'd imagine tables would be sited on the patio in summer. But overall very nice evening. Will be back - in the summer.

We decided to go to Leeds castle to take some pictures of the surrounding grounds, we decided to have some lunch in the castle view restaurant, what a great atmosphere and wonderful views of the castle, there is good option of food, we went for the veggie halloumi burger with chips and coleslaw which was delicious, my dad had a a jacket potato with cheese and beans, which I was very surprised at the portion of cheese he got! Highly recommend

We had a lovely evening at Castle View for dinner. They were flexible and were able to get us in before our reservation time, but even if they’d not been able to accommodate there’s a wonderful bar you can take advantage of while waiting. The food was spectacular! I had a sea bass dish and it was fresh and perfectly prepared. My partner had the duck breast and shared a similar sentiment. The staff of the Castle View is what makes this experience a must-have. They are wonderful and warm and so knowledgeable about their offerings and about local wines and other drinks.

I stayed for three nights in the b&b, I used the restaurant once for an evening meal which was reasonable priced and well made. The breakfasts offered a good range of items with both hot and cold food. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

First time here, was at Motors By The Moat and thought I'd get a roast donner at the Castle View. I didn't wait long to get served.amd the staff were very good and attentive. I ordered a coke zero and the roast beef dinner. The drink arrived quickly and shortly after the food arrived. There was a substantial amount of vegetables, peas, broccoli, red cabbage and roasties. There were so parsnips which I do not eat. My only slight moan was about the beef. It was very very chewy. Nice but chewy. I made a.comment to one of the staff and they apologised. Id definitely go there again but probably wouldn't get the beef again

Nestled in the heart of history, the Cock Inn is a charming 16th-century coaching inn that once catered to weary pilgrims on their journey to Canterbury. The inn boasts a diverse menu featuring daily specials and hearty Sunday roasts that are particularly popular among locals and visitors alike.
A lovely old pub with exposed beams & cockerel decor. Was impressed with the gluten free menu as there was a lot of choice which you don’t always get in other pubs.

Really good service from the staff. The main course was very underwhelming though. I ordered the homemade pie but it was just 1 small slice, not an actual pie and for £18.95 I would expect more of the main dish. Also £3.60 for a pint of lime cordial and soda water is criminal.

the food is nice but little bit pricey. the service is very mediocre with 1 or 2 staff members who are nice and want to talk the rest just don’t bother having a conversation and seem moody. the atmosphere could improve with just some mellow music or some sports being played on the multiple televisions in there( or anything at all) lastly the website needs to be updated with closing times as today it says it shuts at 11pm everyday but today (sunday) it shuts at 9pm.

Really grateful that although staff were really busy, they made us feel welcome. I overheard them offering extra of another meat when the 'mixed' carvery was unavailable. Our Fish and Chips was the best I'd had in a long time and I'm definitely going back for food! We go for drinks regularly but honestly cannot recommend the food/chef enough!

Had an amazing meal at the Cock pub on Heath Road today. The Caesar salad was to die for. Hubby had the homemade pie which went down a treat. Lovely people serving.

We started off by sharing the melted camembert which was lovely although the baguette it came with was a bit squashed. My partner chose the chicken fajitas which he enjoyed. However, I made the mistake of choosing the pork belly. Big mistake! It was as tough as old boots and inedible. We complained to the waitress but no effort was made to compensate us in any way for the 20.95 it cost us which we found unacceptable. Even a gesture of willing to keep us happy was not offered. Consequently, we will never go back there and have advised our friends to do the same.

We had lunch here today to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was great, very tasty and the service was excellent, Katy was very attentive and accommodating. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. We choose prawns in red Thai curry sauce and scallops without the hammock croquette as I don't eat meat. We then had confit shoulder of lamb and stonebass, and we managed to find room for a vanilla parfait and a chocolate delice. Only one coffee as they unfortunately don't do decaffeinated. The Kent white wine was delicious and the cider had a good balance to it. We look forward to eating here again.

Wonderful seafood Resteraunt - elegant a la carte service - well cooked and presented food - only marked the atmosphere down as there was one particularly loud guest who seemed to have little consideration for others in the room which slightly spoiled a birthday meal, as the dining room was all open plan there was no hiding from anyone else’s noise - otherwise perfect evening

I’ve waited years to go here. Fish on the Green has always had a great reputation and I finally got round to trying it with family. This place does not disappoint. Delicious food (try the monkfish) and lovely staff. Can’t wait to return and try more from the menu!

We had a lovely meal and would recommend the restaurant. The only negative comment is it's very noisy. I appreciate that its a small space, but they would benefit from some from of screening/soft furnishings to absorb noise. It's not put us off from a return visit.

Day 2

North side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Mote Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Frédéric Bistro. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Park
Nature & Parks
Mote Park is a vast natural space in Maidstone, offering various attractions for visitors. The park features a woodland play area, BMX track, pitch and putt course, skate park, and a serene lake where visitors can feed swans. Families can enjoy picnics and let kids roam free in the new play area while dog walkers explore the beautiful walks around the lake. Additionally, there are opportunities for adventure with high ropes and Segway rides in the Adventure Zone.
This visited this Park with friends and family. Its a huge park with good children play areas and facilities. It's a good choice to have a day trip and you will enjoy a lot here. Adventure for kids, mini golf, Family boats and kayaks, etc.. very well cleaned toilets always next to the Park Cafe. We went on a European summer fest event on a Sunday. Allover a very good experience. Parking is £3 for 6 hours.

Mote Park is honestly one of my favourite places in Maidstone. It’s such a lovely spot to chill, go for walks, or just spend time with friends or family. The park is massive, with loads of open space, trees, and a beautiful lake right in the middle. It’s perfect for picnics on sunny days – you can just relax on the grass and enjoy the view. It’s also really good for kids. There’s a big playground and lots of ducks by the lake, which kids always seem to love. They even have a little machine where you can buy duck food – just tap your card and get a handful to feed them. It’s a small thing but really cute and fun, especially for families. There’s a nice café near the lake if you want a coffee or a treat, and the toilets are close by too. You can also rent pedalos or rowing boats, which is great on warm days. Loads of people go for walks, runs, or bike rides – and it still feels peaceful even though it’s close to the town centre.

Largest park in Maidstone and one of the largest in Kent. Lovely surroundings spread over several acres traversing large green spaces, lakes with boating, water sport facilities, wildlife and even some mini waterfalls. Has a miniature railway, wooded walks, nature trails, adventure playground, skate park and also a cafe. The only negative is the paid parking which can be difficult to get a space during busy periods, especially when there is an event.
E T — Google review
Gorgeous park, huge! Different things to do as well. Lovely place for a picnic. They have a little duck food dispenser where you can get the feed for the geese, ducks and swans. Was lucky enough to see a family with their babies today also 🦢

Really nice and big park, both dog- and child-friendly. Beautiful ponds with plenty of benches, a large playground for kids, and spaces for picnics, relaxing, and enjoying some privacy. There are many spaces in the two car parks. Not far from the car park is a decent café offering beverages and snacks. On the other side of the park, there’s a van selling ice cream and drinks. A great place for a weekend walk and to spend time with family and friends.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mote Park is my happy place! 🌳✨ I come here all the time whenever I need a bit of calm, space to breathe, or inspiration for my art. There’s just something so peaceful about it — the lake, the trees, the open air — it feels like the whole park has its own gentle energy. I’ve had some of my best creative ideas just sitting here sketching or walking around the water. 🎨💭 It’s also amazing for families! There’s so much space for kids to play, a lovely café for a little treat, and so many spots for picnics or peaceful walks. It’s one of those rare places that’s relaxing and inspiring at the same time — perfect whether you want quiet time alone or a fun day out with your family. Every visit reminds me how lucky we are to have this gem right here in Maidstone. 🌿💚 Highly, highly recommend it to anyone who needs a little reset or creative spark!

A very nice and well kept park! If you are in the area you should just come and walk through.. There are boats for the kids.. or you who am I to say what you can do. It's a classic park experience just multiplied by 10, in size. There were ice creams, lovely, and there were many trees and this nice little river that ran through the beginning of the park. A tiny little waterfall. A photogenic area! Worth a visit and worth your steps. Get your 10k here

Shopping mall
Shopping
The Mall Maidstone is a contemporary shopping center featuring popular clothing and footwear stores, as well as various dining options. While some visitors noted that the mall appeared slightly outdated with a few vacant shops, recent updates have brought in new and interesting shake and bubble tea options, along with small art stalls. The addition of a toy shop has further diversified the retail offerings. The mall provides amenities such as clean restrooms, a free parent and child area, and a play area for toddlers.
I absolutely love visiting our local mall in Maidstone! It truly has everything you need, from fantastic shopping options to a great variety of dining choices. The atmosphere is always welcoming, and I appreciate how clean and well-maintained the entire place is. The staff at the stores are always friendly and helpful, making my shopping experience even more enjoyable. Whether I’m looking for the latest fashion, electronics, or simply a cozy spot to relax and grab a coffee, this mall has it all. Definitely a top destination in Maidstone for anyone looking to have a great day out!

A number of shops, a free soft play area for children that could be a good thing in the rainy days. There are some places to eat but mostly fastfood. The parking is ample and there is a big Sainsbury's just next to the mall

It’s quite a decent shopping centre with lots of stores with parking and access to high street . I loved the mall but lot of shops are closed and didn’t find much big brands.
Naveed A — Google review
Absolutely disgraceful security guards. Today in the mall I was walking through with a group of my friends with skateboards(not riding them) and then a security guard of yours had assaulted me, he was again, dark hair and abut 5'5, he agressivly layed his hands on me and had grabbed my shirt causing a mark to be made on my arm, he then proceeded to shove me hard which made me fall over and injure myself. Absolutely unacceptable, get this awful man gone
James B — Google review
A standard shopping centre, which at time of visit late 2017, seemed a bit outdated with a few empty shop spaces. Good parking. Could do with another set of toilets facilities on the King's Street side maybe. 2022 updated visit and not a huge amount has changed, but have a few more interesting shake and bubble tea options available now, along with small and interesting art and stalls all of, which earn The Mall an extra 🌟. When more shops fill the centre, it'll earn another star
P H — Google review
One of the largest malls of the area with several stores ranging from groceries, clothing, appliances, daily chores. Convenient parking space, along with a bus station for others.
Talha B — Google review
The car park cost £4.10 for 30 minutes on a Saturday. Absolute daylight robbery! Scandalous. I wonder why the high street is dying?? Shops are ok thats why I gave it more than 1 star.
RED O — Google review
If you need to buy something basic. You can come to this shopping centre they have budget shops only, like Wilko, Boots, Superdrug’s , New look, the sport direct, few fast food chain restaurants, 3 to 4 coffee stores, 3 hair dressers, the butchers , Poundland, iceland, a playground, parking, the toilets are restricted you can not find them in every floor you have to go to a specific level to use a toilet. I went there last weekend and the Mall had a very horrible odour... I left in seconds. They should improve the stores, is been refurbished recently looks much better than before 😉

Modern French restaurant
French restaurant
The Frederic French bistro & cocktail bar features outdoor seating, as well as an adjacent patisserie and wine bar. The menu boasts a wide selection of wines, cheeses, and desserts, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Staff - friendly and accommodating. Took us as walk ins, and sat us away from the crowd as we had a sleeping baby with us. Food - served quickly and perfectly at lunch time. A french omelette and chips, amazing. Only personal improvement - could have had more blue cheese melted into it! Ha. Also, the pastries are heavenly. Well done and thank you.

I had a lovely experience at Feŕdéric Bistro. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was very good. If you’re planning to visit during the weekend, I highly recommend calling ahead to check for availability, as it’s usually full — especially during breakfast hours between 9 AM and 12 PM. One minor issue: the chairs were not very comfortable, but overall, it didn’t take away from the great experience.

One of the best restaurants in Maidstone - delicious, authentic French food that never disappoints, with an amazing selection of patisseries! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the service is impeccable. Always a buzzing atmosphere, with a great wine list. A lovely, cosy bistro that we love to visit often!

I only left a star off for service because the two head waiters were so busy chatting with returning customers I presume which is always a good sign. The food is scrumptious for a discerning tongue focusing on quality over quantity, ensuring that you make at least the three courses all of which delicious. Perfect place for a celebration or like us just out for a casual jaunt . Highly recommend 👍

I have always loved coming here for lunch or dinner but was very disappointed when I came here for lunch recently with some girlfriends. I ordered the lemon sole which had several bones in it one of which was long and wide and would have definitely got stuck in my throat and caused a major problem. I will not be visiting again and will definitely not be recommending you to others which is a shame!!!

Located in the heart of Maidstone's shopping district, Wagamama offers a casual dining experience with its Japanese-inspired setting and long communal benches. Situated among other well-known restaurant names on Earl Street, it provides a perfect stop for a quick bite or leisurely meal. The restaurant has received praise for its impressive service and delicious Asian dishes that are delivered promptly. With friendly and attentive staff like Megan and Fay, visitors can expect an enjoyable dining experience at this popular eatery.
I went there 1st time with my kids just two days ago and we all loved it. Food was delicious, place was nice and clean and service was great. They really looked after us and nothing was hard for them. We all had rose drink which was delicious 😋. I’ve been here 3 times so far and everything was always amazing. I love Japanese food so this is my favourite place to eat in Maidstone.

We have just had another delicious lunch at Wagamama, this time in Maidstone. Our Pad Thai was delicious, the service was excellent, we were looked after really well. The restaurant is in an ideal location and was quite busy while we were there. As a member of Soul Club we have earned yet another free main meal. Thank you.
James J — Google review
I wasnt sure whether to leave this review as we usually love the place- we went to wagamama on Fri the 8th a few weeks ago. We actually go to this branch quite a lot and even decided to bring some friends this time because it’s usually such a good experience. At first everything was great- the waitress who sat us down was really smiley (I think her name started with an S) the food came out quick, and my pork ramen was as perfect as always, honestly, the chefs here are super consistent every single time. The problem came halfway through the meal. The restaurant had started to empty out, and while we were still finishing our mains, the manager came over and literally grabbed the sauces and cutlery basket off our table without saying anything. I thought it was odd, so I asked another staff member what time they closed -she said 11. At that point, it was barely 9 p.m. So I asked the manager if we could have the sauces and cutlery back since we weren’t finished, and he just shrugged and said he was “done with them for the night” and made a sarcastic joke about shutting early. Bear in mind we still had food in front of us. Then, while standing by the kitchen (right next to our table), he turned to a chef and said something along the lines of "I cant wait for these people to leave already" it felt like he wanted us to hear, we were shocked. It completely killed the mood. Before wed even finished, the music shut off and he came back and just dropped the bill on the table without clearing our plates and asked bluntly "cash or card?" No mention of dessert, no offer of anything else and it wasn’t even 9:30 yet! We were actually planning on ordering dessert, but at that point we just wanted to get out of there. On our way out we asked the barman for this person's name and I think it was Ayden- I get it, I’ve worked in service and yes, everyone wants to get home on time. But this wasn’t just trying to wrap up the night- it was rude, dismissive, and honestly embarrassing, especially since we’d brought friends along and it was 2 hours before they closed. We felt extremly uncomfortable and unwelcome and just wanted to get out of there- the chefs and other staff were great, but that managers attitude completely ruined what should have been a nice evening.

I recently dined at the Earl Street branch and was impressed by both the food and the service. The menu is great if you're vegetarian or vegan my partner absolutely loved the ebi kastu and hot honey fried chicken .The kitchen also handled allergies smoothly, which is always a relief . The staff were friendly and attentive, guiding us through the menu, managing our order efficiently. Our dishes came out fresh and hot, full of flavour. And i really loved the dessert.
Ashly S — Google review
usually always had wonderful service in this wagamamas however today it was very questionable. it was quite busy so we expected slower service however we did not expect rude service. the waitress who seated us was extremely blunt and disappeared for 20 minutes. we requested to move seats with another staff member who was lovely and happily served us, took our food order and set us up elsewhere. the original waitress then gave us our food, didn’t bother to say what the food was or ask where it was going and just slammed it down on the table. we finished up our mains which were then cleared by another lovely staff member, then ordered dessert. when our dessert arrived, it was incorrect, however the initial waitress slammed it down in the middle of the table yet again! not even saying what it was. so we waited until a different waitress saw that our food was wrong and she corrected it. when the rude waitress brought the corrected dish over, yet again, she did not say what it was, or say a single word to us. she wouldn’t even make eye contact. i’m not sure if this was age based discrimination as we are 16-17 or just general dislike from this waitress however we felt extremely uncomfortable for most of our meal. the food was great as usual and all of the other staff were wonderful. we left extremely confused and disappointed unsure as to if we had offended the waitress or if she just didn’t like us for some reason. it was just extremely disappointing as frequenters of this specific branch. hopefully next time will be better.

We went to Wagamama's because it was my husband's and daughter's birthday and I can honestly say, we couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend time together! The staff was unbelievably friendly and the food was 10/10. Jacob was our waiter, and he was very helpful and friendly. He knew the menu exceptionally well and was very patient when my children were choosing their meal options. Highly recommend.

Steak house
Argentinian restaurant
Buenos Aires Nights Steakhouse in Maidstone is a must-visit for those craving an authentic taste of Argentinian beef and wines. The restaurant features an impressive menu that allows diners to customize their steak, choosing the cut, cooking style, and accompaniments. With locations in Maidstone's High Street and Ashford's North Street, this eatery brings the flavors of Buenos Aires to Kent.
Four of us had our Christmas get-together here. It was our first time at Buenos Aires and it was absolutely wonderful. Great staff, excellent food and lovely atmosphere. Although I've given 5 stars, I do have two issues: No parking. It's slap bang in the middle of town so no parking outside. It's NOT cheap. Four people, four starters, four mains and four alcoholic drinks came to £300.48. But it definitely is worth a vist

I had the pleasure of attending a wine tasting dinner at Buenos Aires Nights in Maidstone, and it was an unforgettable experience! The four-course meal was expertly crafted, with each dish perfectly paired with a different wine. From the starter to the dessert, every bite was full of flavor, and the wine selections complemented the courses beautifully. The staff were knowledgeable and provided great insight into the wines, making the evening even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a special night out. Highly recommend for wine and food lovers!

Me, my partner and my friend decided to visit BA Nights last minute and it did not disappoint! we had our puppies with us and we were allowed to sit and eat outside which was very accommodating! For starters I had the prawn gambas in garlic sauce, these tasted unreal, we also ordered the calamari and croquettes, the flavours were immense, the portion size and presentation was spectacular. For mains, me and my friend ordered the steak sampler and my partner ordered the Argentine experience platter. The steaks were cooked to perfection and just melted in your mouth (especially the fillet). You can tell the chefs take great pride in their work as both platters looked amazing! The drinks menu’s offer a wide range of beautiful cocktails and wines that match perfectly with the steaks. The ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant was so comfortable, I would recommend this restaurant to any steak lover or anyone looking to experience Argentinian fine dining. The service was top tier, worth every penny!

I was in Maidstone for business and took the opportunity to catch up with a couple of friends nearby. They suggested this place, known for serving delicious steaks, as they had been there already a couple of times. We started with a few smaller plates to nibble on and then went for the steak and experience platter options to share. The meat was overall well cooked and flavorful, and for the few pieces that weren’t quite perfect, the staff kindly offered to have the kitchen cook them a bit more — which we really appreciated. There weren't a lot of guests, so the atmosphere wasn't at best, but the service was attentive, and we ended up having a lovely evening. If you’re in Maidstone and looking for a good spot to enjoy quality steak with friends, this place is definitely worth a visit! I

Food was excellent. We ordered a steak (surprise, surprise) sharer platter, which consisted of 4 decent sized slices of different types of steak. Wonderfully prepared. Staff was awesome. Very attentive and polite. 4 stars because of the prices. Not even complaining about a tad more expensive menu on the whole, however, if you're going to charge high end prices, then at least have decent size/quality portions of, say, salads. Main courses - fine, but at least step it up with sides/sauces and extra bits that come with the main course.

I had an amazing experience at Buenos Aires Nights in Maidstone! The ambiance instantly transported me to the vibrant streets of Buenos Aires. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was incredible — from the perfectly cooked steaks to the delicious empanadas, every dish was bursting with flavor. The cocktails were equally impressive, and the whole evening felt like a celebration. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic Argentine cuisine and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

Lewis’s Fish & Grill is an independent takeaway spot that offers a variety of delectable dishes, including fish and chips, ribs, peri-peri wings, and lamb doner. Customers rave about the haddock fish and highly recommend it for its freshness and lack of fishy odor. The generous portions make it a satisfying meal for individuals.
Far away our best fish and chips experience! This is a lovely little place with nice ambience, option to eat outside and a very friendly staff. Everything was cooked well, tasty, nothing was too oily, and his hand made milkshake was simple amazing! Just give it a try and you never will need another fish and chips place!

Wow!!! I almost made a mistake and went to crispinns but it was closed. I’m glad it was closed because I got to experience the fish and chips here. The curry sauce and mushy peas have a nice little twist to them. Whatever it is, it’s sooo tasty. The fish wasn’t oily which is a positive in my eyes. Perfect amount of crunch. My only wish is that they offered grilled fish. I hope the quality remains consistent. I will return and find out. The black stuff in my picture is pepper :) Edit: date is 2/3/24, ordered the same as I did previously but opted for a grilled fish but looks more like a boiled fish, the mushy peas are no longer the same as they were previously and the curry sauce is like water. What a disappointment. Dropping stars from a five to a 3 due to inconsistency

UPDATE - Calling me Christina says all you need to know. They could not care less. Do not order from here. Our chicken shish was literally some luke warm chicken thighs - how is this a chicken shish. Chicken shish comes off a skewer and is marinated. £27 for a large chips and two chicken shish kebabs - absolute ripoff. AVOID !

Who serves this and considers it acceptable? Just got home and unwrapped the contents to find chips very much under done, so much so had to air fry to make them edible! Halloumi over done and sausages even more so, pics dont do justice, but to just hear someone say 'there you go mate with food waiting on the side' is unbecoming of a usually pleasant experience. Its with a heavy heart writing this review as normally the service is very good and food even better. Very disappointed.

Very disappointed . Delivered. Large cod and chips the cod was very thin and greasy and the batter wasn’t bubbly and crispy. Curry sauce very salty. Sadly this fish and chips shop used to be very good but I think it’s changed ownership and is no longer good.

Ordered haddock fish and lamb doner. I love the fish and chips, and I highly recommend the haddock. Despite having a sensitive stomach when it comes to fried foods, I've never experienced any issues with Lewis Fish and Chips. The fish doesn't have a fishy odor, which is great for people come from vegetarian background because I dislike it when it smells fishy. I also highly recommend the curry sauce. The portion of fish and chips is generous for a single person, and the staff is kind. I don’t recommend the lamb doner, very dry, need more sauce. Not very flavourful.

We used them for our allotment society Annual Show and the quality of the food and service could not be faulted, delivering 49 suppers piping hot and beautifully cooked to our allotment site - thank you to Gavin and the team at Lewis's Fish & Grill

Shopping
The Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre is a large, modern shopping mall located in Riverside, Ontario. It features a department store alongside chain shops and restaurants, making it perfect for a day out and about. However, some of the shops have recently closed down, making it quieter after hours. The mall has a good selection of stores catering to all tastes and needs, making it a popular destination for shoppers in the area.
Spacious, clean and good shopping area with House of Frasers, Cafe Nero inside. Car parking is spacious. Ideal for a short visit or longday. A lot of fast food & nice pubs/ eating places around

Shopping center with everything in it. All the shops you can imagine ! Simply amazing!!!! Affordable too. If you haven't visited Fremlin Wak, you absolutely need to.

Disappointingly this place is going downhill fast, you see thieves and security guys chasing them etc so not a pretty sight anymore unfortunately. We used to love coming here for shopping but now it will be off our radar completely

I've not been to Maidstone for 30 years, it was a very rewarding and eye opener to see all the positive changes plenty of good shopping and lots of places to eat and drink. Loved it.
David C — Google review
Great area with some top brands and restaurants dotted along the outdoor shopping precinct. There is a large multi-storey car park at the top end below the House of Fraser store.

Good selection of shops and facilities. Not covered shopping centre thus open to the elements;however they do have covered area immediately by shop entrance/exit as this how the shopping centre was designed.Good signs and directions as well as compact centre with most of the main high street stores.Very modern looking shopping centre.

Nice shops good access to the high street, Car parking ideal though a bit pricey but good lift access to shops.

Hazlitt Theatre is a performing arts theater located in Maidstone, Kent. The theater hosts a variety of performances such as comedy, dance, drama, and family shows. If you're looking for a show to enjoy while in the center of Maidstone, Hazlitt Theatre is definitely worth checking out.
First time at this venue. Very small and felt somewhat private. Seats were comfortable and cool environment. Highly recommended and will return for other shows!
Jimmy W — Google review
Amazing staff, so helpful and friendly. But the theatre itself is a sweat box and whilst I understand old buildings can't have aircon with modern plug in units available it wouldn't be hard to at least try and manage in certain areas. Top tip if visiting.. get cup of ice from the bar if you have a long performance to get through. Do not ask for wine they serve it in a tin, charge an extortaniate amount and it is vile.
Ani E — Google review
Saw Celia Imrie talking about her new book. Theatre staff were lovely and deserve 10 out of 10 for crowd management. Unfortunately, the poor theatre could do with an overhaul, especially the seats which are old, tired and hard. Better leg room than some theatres though. Keep getting great names Hazlitt, and we'll keep coming.

We recently saw The Little Mermaid show by Immersion Theatre at the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone. The children enjoyed it very much as did the adults. So much energy by all those involved. Thank you to all concerned.

UPDATE December 2023 Went to see Peter Pan, what a great show, quite a lot of adult innuendo. Great little provincial theatre, watched sleeping beauty with our gran children, great performance not sure if they were ad-libing or if was in the script!!!!!

Maidstone Museum, located on St Faiths Street in Maidstone, is a regional museum boasting an extensive collection of over 660,000 diverse artworks and artefacts. The museum's collections cover a wide range of subjects including Old Masters, fossils, dinosaurs, Japanese artwork, and ancient Egyptians. Notably, it houses Kent's only human mummy - the 2,700-year-old Ta-Kesh. Additionally, the museum regularly hosts temporary touring exhibitions to keep the experience fresh for visitors.
This museum has always been and remains one of my favourite places to spend time in Maidstone - it is free to go in and the place is fascinating, from the historical and beautiful building it's housed in to all the exhibits themselves. As we (my son and I) hadn't been for a little while we discovered it'd had a bit of a revamp inside on this occasion; some new exhibits wonderfully laid out, lots of interactive things for any young children to discover and try out on the way around. Not forgetting of course that the story of Iggy, our local celebrity dinosaur is told along with much more of 'Kent's Earth History'. Don't forget to look up too - there's a whale on the ceiling in one area! The Ancient Egyptian exhibit is a favourite of mine; it's quite peaceful which makes it feel rather respectful too given that the Mummy of Ta-Kush is in there... there's definitely an air of quiet serenity about her. Everything is informative and well laid out throughout the museum; an eclectic mix of ancient artefacts right up to more modern history too. The staff were friendly and welcoming as we walked in out of the rain. The place is as accessible as they can get it with lifts to upper floors and ramps where possible. Obviously, given the age of the building (no doubt a listed building at that) there are some areas that have small sets of stone or wooden stairs that can't be replaced by a modern ramp but the vast majority of the displays seem to have been designed to be user friendly no matter the age or ability of who's visiting...myself included! I'm an older soul shall we say, and stairs can be my nemesis! It's a fantastic place to get lost in and we ended up in there for a good couple of hours looking at everything...absolutely loved it.

- FREE ENTRY (besides the Titanic part) - I definitely recommend the fossil section as there is some excellent specimens of dinosaurs - one to keep an eye out for is the London clay exibxit which shows some rare species of bird, fish, shark and turtle.

I made an unplanned visit to Maidstone Museum which is free to enter, and it turned out to be an informative and engaging experience. The exhibits covered a wide range of topics, from birds, insects, and animals to dinosaurs, British soldiers' history, fashion, and ancient human history. It was a fascinating mix of displays from around the world, making it a well-rounded experience. It took about 2 hours to explore, and I was thoroughly engaged throughout. It's a great place for a family visit, especially with children.
Kavin M — Google review
Nice free museum with some interactive tasks for children and separate dinosaurs area. Anglo-Saxon treasures, dinosaur bones, Japanese art, Victorian fashion, global explorer finds, military medals, taxidermy displays, paintings and sculptures.

Free museum, you need to pay for the Titanic exposition though bug it was still worth it. Diversified, organized and well presented.

Absolutely amazing collection of items! I spent 3 hours here looking at everything and could have spent longer if it didnt take me up to close! The current titanic exhibition is so interesting! Amazing free experience, great volunteers and so much to see!

An amazing place to visit with kids. Lots of sections and floors and every section offers a great insight about history and different eras. We spent two hours there, could have happily spent more. No tickets needed, bery approachable from station, and offers Little activityifor kids as well. It has a a little souvenir shop too.
Dr. Z — Google review
My family and I like this museum a great deal. The only reason I give it such a low starring system is for its customer service. My father paid the museum another visit recently to visit one of its special exhibitions. Now, like all pensioners, he asked if there was a pensioner discount, in the same way NHS staff such as myself must ask if places offer an NHS discount because these discounts are not openly advertised nor revealed unless asked for. There is no harm in asking, otherwise we don't know better. The women at the desk replied back in quite a spiteful manner 'it's already cheap enough unless you want to bankrupt us.' Regardless of the hardships a museum has with funding, customers and visitors are some of your primary fund raisers, and good customer service ensures they return. This was a very upsetting comment, particularly as my father happens to probably be one of the few people in Maidstone who understands the actual value and significance of the museum's artefacts. Especially when it comes to the Japanese collection, of which Maidstone museum holds one of the biggest collections in the country! Suffice it to say, my father used to be a frequent visitor, but has since not returned. Please be kind to your visitors. It makes all the difference.

Gallagher Stadium is a modern sports facility with an artificial 3G pitch, serving as the home ground for Maidstone United. It is considered one of the best facilities in its league in the UK. The stadium features a club bar and hosts various attractions nearby, including All Saints Church, Lockmeadow Centre, Medway Towpath, Nature Trail, and Whatman Park. Additionally, it provides training opportunities for pan-disability teams.
Cracking stadium with great amenities. Very clean, tidy and professionally run. Staff are always happy, friendly and go out of there way to be helpful. Has a lovely bar and the food from the burger hut is absolutely top notch along with the girls that run it. They are always happy, friendly and the service is first class. Went here to attend a charity football match with the motorcycle group I run and I can't thank the staff enough for their help and professionalism when it came to getting our bikes parked on site safely and securely. Would highly recommend to anyone.

AMAZING STADIUM!! And good price food and drinks and obviously good football banter but nothing too bad!!
Zach M — Google review
This was my first ever visit to the Gallagher Stadium. Disappointed with the entry price of £15 per adult, and £7 for my 16 year old. I guess this is the consequence of Maidstone being relegated last year, staying as a full-time team in the hope of getting promoted straight back up. It’s simply too much at this level. The programme was spot on at £2, good value. Next moan was the segregation. 96 travelling Slough fans and we are squeezed into a quarter of the North End Stand. I fully understand that there was trouble with Weymouth fans at the previous home game, but, I’m a creature of habit, and when I visit a new ground I like to walk all the way around it to get a feel of the place, and also be at the end my team is attacking. A big plus was the excellent stewards who were very friendly and helped point out where everything was. He also explained exactly why we had been segregated. In all it’s a great Stadium. I liked the steep terracing we were put in, something that Arbour Park sadly lacks.

It was landscaped and planted with over 1,500 trees as part of the Millennium River Park project.
Its a great park with some cool stuff for kids not sure if would keep them entertained all-day. I assume the cafe is all good looks very nice.. All good,. Will amended over time......

A nice park with lots to see and do, e.g. tree-too walk, skate park, etc.
Sylvia H — Google review
Great park for the kids. The addition of the new skate park is cool. Love the boardwalk through the trees. My son loves fishing for tadpoles at the pond in spring (always put back in the pond afterwards when we leave). And we really enjoy the concerts at the amphitheatre. We regularly walk or cycle to this park via the lovely Millennium route. The only let down is the public toilets - filthy and dangerous as they're often used by 'undesirables' doing drugs (and other things!) in there.
Nicola C — Google review
I don't think we walked round the whole place. No parking available so find somewhere around the area. Plenty of access to and from Maidstone centre. The park is situated right next to Maidstone West station. A pleaant place to spend an hour in the sun with a busy river Medway running parallel with the park. We loved the little park, with the swings and sand for the little ones. Didn't see the Bigger park lol.

Beautiful place. We went to watch an outdoor cinema Well organized. The public toilets were something else though! No lights no toilet roll no doors on some so only 1 in use which had used sanitary products all over the floor

This is a nice park. It has a lovely kiddies play area and a covered band area. There isn't really any parking in the park but there is plenty near by (not free I'm afraid). There are toilets at the main entrance to the park but nowhere else. Also no cafe or refreshments at all. Perfect place for events such as open-air cinema and local fates

Pub
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Maidstone, Market House is a delightful casual eatery that has transformed from its former identity as Earls. This charming spot sits conveniently opposite the Hazlitt Theatre and adjacent to Fremlin Walk shopping precinct. With a lovely covered al-fresco area at the front and an inviting first-floor roof terrace boasting views over Fremlin Walk, it’s an ideal destination for both summer sun-soaking and cozy winter gatherings by the fire.
Lovely lunch, we had croquettes and a sharing platter which was delicious! The waiting staff were so nice .Definitely service with a smile! We thought it was very reasonably priced. Will definitely come again!

Stopped here on a quiet Friday afternoon for some lunch (hence the 4 star rating for atmosphere) Gluten free burgers available, a separate fryer for the chips and very knowledgeable staff on hand to help with the order! Well worth a visit!

I can only review this pub for lunchtimes as I have never visited in the evening. However, my wife and I visit most Friday lunchtimes and their is a friendly welcome and atmosphere from Matt and his team. Being a creature of habit, I always have the same meal which is steak and chips with a peppercorn sauce and I have to say that the steak is really good. The service is ALWAYS brilliant.

Had the most amazing food here pre England match. Was passing through after touring holiday around Kent. Made to feel so welcome by Claire. She chatted to us and went out her way to ensure we were happy with our food and that the chef made allowances for food allergy. The food was superb. The service was worthy of the highest award! The staff were all so happy to be there, they were jolly, friendly and came across like a big happy family. Just loved it. Recommend to the highest possible degree! Go!
L ( — Google review
Refreshing pub food; what Market House does is take the concept of eating in at a pub in a different direction and I like it. It feels new, it’s only been a year since it was last refurbed. The restaurant section is humble, comfy, with loads of scatter cushions adorning the seating. The kitchen is visible too, which is cool and uncommon in a pub setting. Service is split between the pub and restaurant, it’s humble and caring. Food was delivered quickly. The food, I thought was bloody brilliant. What a great selection of dishes. Me, being fussy when it comes to choice had lots to tickle the taste buds. Their 5 starters for £22 is a winner and something that more pubs should have. It’s the pub’s equivalent of tapas. All food looked beautiful, well done Shepherd Neame chef. My pick of the dishes was the duck and sweet potato croquet. Refreshing, quality food, excellent value for money. The best pub food in Maidstone town centre.

Italian restaurant
Zizzi Whitstable is located next to the Horsebridge development on Whitstable's renowned and busy harbour, very much in the heart of the town with its beautiful architecture. It has a traditional Italian chain restaurant feel with pizza and calzone on wooden boards, plus traditional pastas. The service is friendly and it has a good children's menu.
We were served by Naomi, who was attentive and accommodating. She was very outgoing and friendly, couldn't have had a better waitress. The service was really quick and we had our mains within 15 minutes. The food was delicious, and I would highly recommend!
Poppy F — Google review
I visited Zizzi in Maidstone East with friends for a birthday celebration, and it turned out to be a delightful experience overall. We had pre-booked a table and arrived around 6 PM. The atmosphere was inviting and aesthetic, perfectly suited for a celebratory evening. The food was delicious, and everyone in our group enjoyed the dishes we ordered. However, I personally felt that the main course took slightly longer than expected to arrive – about 30 minutes – which tested our patience a bit. Despite this, the staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we were comfortable throughout our meal. Zizzi offers a lovely setting for gatherings with friends, blending great food with a warm, pleasant ambiance. While the service timing could improve, it's still a place I would recommend for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience.
Kavin M — Google review
We waited for 10 minutes in the entrance to be seated. Waitress was busy doing deliveroos as priority. We had booked on line. Waited a further 15 mins before being served at our table. Starters came out quick, but had a half hour wait for mains which isn’t good enough. They also served adult pizza first & kids meal had to wait a further 7 minutes later. By this time the adult pizza was barely warm. Tried the sticky pig pizza, it was soggy & fell apart (under cooked) the crackling was inedible, like plastic. Added picture to show the soggy undercooked middle Kids pizza was ok tasty but really tiny size. Wouldn’t recommend. Won’t returns

I went to Zizzi's in maidstone for my birthday. I had a really nice pizza and dessert. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. My only complaint is the value for money. My dessert was classed as a brownie sundae. You picture in your head a faily deep clear glass thats fill with cream, icecream and Brownie chucks, when in reality it arrived in a shallow meltal bowl with two small chocolate icecream scoopes, a small amount of cream, two very small chunks of brownie and two small waffer horns fill with sauce. It's exstremly over priced and not very filling. Apart from this it's all very nice.

Fast food restaurant
KFC Maidstone - Week Street is a renowned fast food chain famous for its deep-fried chicken served in buckets, along with combo meals and accompanying dishes. Recently, KFC has started reopening its branches across the country with a limited delivery-only menu. Notably, new safety measures have been implemented at KFC branches to protect their staff members during these challenging times.
Not only was the food delicious and moist, (something I'm finding rare at KFCs these days) and served swiftly, but the staff were very helpful and attentive. Especially, kesang, Adrian, patrishka. Will come back again now.

My children received incomplete boxes without fries and corn, I also paid for extra ingredients for a burger that were not there. My daughter was disappointed and my son opened his box only with chicken balls 🤨 The food was takeaway. I saw it only at home. When you buy there, even check the sandwiches inside. Tragic. I do not recommend!

Extremely disappointed with the Maidstone KFC branch. Ordered the £5.99 Chicken Popcorn deal, which was supposed to include 60 pieces — I only got around 45. This is unacceptable and feels dishonest. I won’t be returning, and I won’t be recommending this place to anyone. KFC should do better.

Disgusted with this branch. Mea kd my partner just eat in here then went to use the toilet but was told we couldn't use it because they are closed even though we're sat in here eating food! A historic military barracks from 1796, transformed into a charming countryside pub and eatery, now offers an exquisite dining experience. Known for its superb steaks, Miller & Carter Maidstone has garnered a reputation as the go-to place. However, in search of something new yet local, Brettingtons emerged as the perfect choice for a birthday celebration. Impressive first impressions were made with a cozy bar area in the reception where patrons could enjoy drinks while waiting for their table.
We have been to this restaurant 3 times now and each time, it was a very good experience. However, the last one wasn't as good as the previous two. We had steaks, which weren't as good as previously, and desserts were hit-and-miss. Also, even though the service was good the first two times, it was very slow this time around. We will be back nevertheless as it is a lovely place to have a family dinner or celebrate, or a date night perhaps.

Went to Miller and Carter Maidstone this afternoon for some lunch. There were four of us and we are visiting Kent. We were craving a steak so M&C it was! The place was so lovely, the scenery and outside area was great for the sunny weather. The food and service of the food was great, came out within reasonable time. The food was spot on. Our waiter, Jack, made the experience 10 times more enjoyable. He was so so lovely and friendly. Best waiter ever! The front of house people were not very welcoming, abit confrontational and were quite rude. This put a downer on the service. However, Jack made the experience a lot nicer in the end. Recommend for the food and the location. It was great, right next to the train station.

Front of house reception was not accommodating. They clearly did not like us from the start. Food didn’t come for 50 minutes after starters. Side dishes coming out after main meal was finished look at photo. Salt and pepper and sauces not brought over till the end of the meal. I will not be returning for some bland food again.

From start to finish it was a great experience. Daisy, our server, was friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. We was one of the 1st to arrive and had the whole area to ourselves. We had a choice to sit where we liked and chose the booth. Daisy was knowledgable of the menu and even when we asked something she wasnt sure on - she found out and came back to us. The food & drinks were ordered with ease and recommendations/advice was given on the best way to have a steak and that we had enough sides but was welcome to order more if we felt we needed to. They have ‘Beaverton - neck oil’ on tap so my husband was very happy as it’s one of his favourites. I had Pepsi max but they do have coke in bottles which i thought was good as most places have either one or the other. I had the cauliflower ‘wings’ and my husband had the scallops with pork belly to start. We were both very happy and did try each others.. so tasty.. the ‘wings’ werent oily, they were light, cripsy and so tasty - the dipping sauce was amazing! The scallop and pork dish was just as good.. soft, melt in the mouth pork belly and tasty beautifully cooked scallops. Then the mains arrived.. a feast! 16oz rump for my husband and 12oz for me. He had chuncky chips and beef dripping sauce, and I had the veg and red wine sauce. We had a side of the cheddar mushrooms.. so many beautiful little cheesy mushrooms 😍 The lettuce wedge for me had classic vinaigrette and hubs had the chilli option. The recommendation for this cut of steak is medium.. we always have our streaks medium rare but on recommendation we went with medium and couldn’t have been happier… it was THE best steak either of us have had in along time and we often chose steak when dining out. The accompaniments were just as good.. the sauces were rich and full of flavour.. the chips are big chunky, fluffy and crispy.. a selection of five different veg - courgette, tender-stem broccoli, baby carrots, peas and mangetout.. buttered and cooked perfectly. We complimented the chef when Daisy came to clear our plates and on hearing this they rang a bell and whooped aloud, which was great to hear. As for desserts… to our surprise Daisy had arranged for a birthday treat to come out for my husband, which was such a sweet thing to do, it was a rich brownie with 2 profiteroles and strawberries… we only mentioned it was a birthday treat as she asked what was the reason for our visit was.. certainly didn’t expect that! I’m not a dessert girl but my husband is - there’s a good selection of desserts and he chose lemon tart with raspberry sorbet. I didn’t try this but he really enjoyed it and commented on how lovely the sorbet was. He cleared both plates so that says it all really doesn’t it :) Overall our experience was great.. the portions are generous, we will go back and recommend it. There’s so many gorgeous things on the menu that we would like to try so we’ll have to go back again! Thankyou for such a great experience!

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Cobtree Manor Park. Not quite as popular as Maidstone Museum, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Aylesford's South Retail Park is a huge shopping mall that features an insane selection of toys and childrens' clothes. The staff are friendly and wonderful and the parking is free.
One of the biggest Currrys I've ever seen. Also a nicely stocked marks and spencer, Yes I would definitely recommend. The Nandos is decent too.

I try to avoid at all times. The Aldi is good but the parking is shared with a 24H McDonalds Drive-Thru and it can be a real struggle to get in or out of the place -especially as the entrance is on a very busy road where the hospital is. Do not go here is you are short on time.

Great place to go for shopping has a large sainsbury shop and petrol station. Cafe in the store is a nice place to grab a break before or after visiting the other stores on the retail park like smiths toys .homemade, sofa store. curry's and more worth a vist but be warned the closer it gets to Christmas the harder it is to get in and out even though there is a lot of parking space they get very busy this time of the year
Pamels N — Google review
Good parking and ideal shops. Difficult to leave at times, as only one entrance/exit so take care on holiday times especially christmas.

Retail park has plenty of parking but retail shops on on the small side, staff were very friendly and helpful. Toilets are located in Homebase. Road lay could do with improving as when parked out side pets at home nobody wanted to let us out of the space, shooting in from the round about end. Need to make it one way leading to the roundabout end.

Great variety of shops here, smyths you superstore, Homebase, Currys pc world, a couple of sofa shops, carpet shops, coffee shop and even a Nandos. There's a car show room just outside this is the rest of Quarry wood industrial estate where there is a lot more too including Sainsburys, a ball park for the kids and a lot more. Photos are of inside the Homebase store Good amount of parking too. It gets a bit busy over Christmas and busy periods but copes fine the rest of the time.

Cobtree Manor Park, situated in Aylesford, spans 50 acres and was once the location of the Maidstone Zoo. The park features green spaces, wooded paths, picnic areas, a playground designed like a zoo in honor of its previous occupant, and a sculpture trail. Visitors can explore the history of the zoo at the visitor centre while enjoying walks through woodland trails and open spaces.
Lovely park with a nice loop around walk.Nice and quiet if you visit first thing in the morning. This park has a lovely play area for the children and small cafe with seating inside and out.

Nice place, full of families during a summer time, what makes this place very special and unique. Car park available. Prices for 6h £2 or all day £12. We loved visiting wooden playground. It is designed like a castle. There is a separate section for toddlers and another for older children. There are a few slides, climbing ropes, and swings - plenty to keep the kids busy. Everything was in great condition with no broken parts, and the whole area was clean and well maintained. I also appreciated the many benches around the park, which makes nice to have lots of spots for families to sit and enjoy their time. We will definitely be back!

We recently returned for a second time for our annual family picnic. Great place to meet and set up as a large group of adults and children. Some shade from many trees. A good place for a game of rounders and football. Ample parking reasonably priced if you go for the first option which if I recall is £2 for 5 hours and then add more time (rather than the longer option which is £15 I think) - this was on a Sunday so check. Play park for younger children. Toilets were clean and well stocked. Great for a day out.

Well kept and attractive outdoor space. Easy car parking and a cade on site. Very pleasant place to walk of a big lunch. Very quiet when i visited and beautiful at this time of year (October)

It’s a lovely park for the kids with a decent size car park. Parking you have to pay for. The park is a nice size to walk around. There is a cafe and toilets on site.

Lovely park. Great for 3+ years Different areas make it possible to have a little wander and then the kids can have a little play. There's a nice cafe. There are toilets. Car park spaces are a good size. It doesn't cost too much to park there all day. It's a popular place but not overly busy.We have been a couple of times now and I'd go again. I would like to see them include more things for babies/toddlers.

Kent Life is a 28-acre countryside attraction that offers a glimpse into Kent's farming history and rural life. Visitors can explore the Vintage Village, experience life during World War II, and engage in various activities such as bottle feeding lambs, playing on the beach, riding donkeys, and enjoying an indoor soft play area. The site also features a paint-a-pot studio and opportunities to get close to farmyard animals.
We visited Kent Life recently with family. It was an incredible day had by all. Lots of parking so that's great. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. It's not expensive to visit and it's a full day to enjoy yourselves. Loads to see including cute farm animals and tractor rides. They have sheep, goats, donkeys, meerkats and owls to name a few. Even snakes and spiders too. The kids cam enjoy pottery painting too. You can see the Owl Display too. That's amazing. There's food to buy onsite and tea and coffees. Nice kids soft play area that's huge. You can get lovely ice creams too. Many places to enjoy a picnic. Benches everywhere. Great to see the heritage of Kent. The old well preserved buildings and areas they grew the Hops. Like stepping back in the past. The area is beautiful and the staff are nice. Good area for kids to play too. The tractor rides are great. Kids love it. The gift shops nice too. Perfect day out. What a fantastic place to go. Will visit again many more times. Also a bonus is it's next to the river and the Malta Inn. So enjoy that great pub after.

Great for who love animals! Especially for young children. You can get very close to the sheep, goose, bunnies, chicken etc. £10 per person for entry. We brought ticket at the door. Many Free parking slot. You can buy food for feeding the animals which located up on the hill. There is a truck for you to ride to go around the whole farm. A tea house for food and drinks but it’s closed as we arrived late. Also a hand craft workshop for youngers! Good place for family with children. An indoor and also outdoor children park inside Kent life. Nice to have a wonderful bday party there as well.

Great place to take the kids to meet some animals. The toilette area it is for adults. It is very uncomfortable for the kids to use them as they are designed only for adults. Mainly to do school trips but recommended to go with the family. I will change my review to 5 stars if the toilette issue is resolved before the end of 2025.

My Wife and I had our wedding here on the 1st August this year. The day was perfect. Lindsay was our wedding coordinator and she was amazing. Every question or worry we had was dealt with and we honestly couldn't have asked for more. She was always on hand when we needed her and guided the day perfectly. The venue was ideal and unique, we got married in the pink chapel and had the food and party in the Wagon Store and Village Hall. Food was good and all dietary requirements were catered for and there were lots of them. Overall the whole day was perfect and all the guests commented how great Kent Life was so thank you all. Excellent value for money, can spend hours here with my 3 year old. Animals she can actually interact with, soft play, playground for varied ages, owl show, quite often there are themed events on, tractor rides and just a nice walk. Would recommend. Getting a membership really pays off too if youre going to even come 2 or 3 times in the year

We visited yesterday having booked our tickets for one of their dinosaur days a little while ago.We were greeted by two inflatable dancing dinosaurs with adults inside and started our day with an owl event (he was called Merlin) which was really interesting and informative with the owl flying right over our heads to feed, you could really feel the whoosh of its wings ! We saw all the animals in the farmyard (you can't feed these) and met Holly the guinea pig who gave us gentle nibbly kisses to our hands. We saw the various types of hens, cockerells and turkeys nearby. We strolled up the hill to feed the sheep, goats and alpacas and met an occasionally roaring but friendly Tyrannosaurus on the way much to the delight of our Grandson. We had lunch by the tea room which was very busy. There is pot painting nearby which we didn't do as our Grandson is under 3 so still a little young for that. We had a stroll down to the carousel (£3 a go) followed by the dinosaur themed magic show in the marquee which all the kids clearly enjoyed with some even invited to participate. We went to see the other lovely owls including a snowy owl which is endangered, a skunk and several meerkats who also have some young that are fun to watch playing around. We finished our day with a brief visit to see the critters and a tractor ride after a short spell queueing (no extra charge). We had a fabulous day out at Kent Life, thankyou to all of the staff.

Took my granddaughter for the Halloween period, had a brilliant day. Plenty of activities starting almost every half an hour. The owl show was amazing. The foam disco at the end was great she’s 2 and really enjoyed it. I thought the entrance fee was very reasonable too. We enjoyed it that much I’m going again this weekend with my grandsons.

Nestled between the Archbishop's Palace and All Saints Church, the Infirmerers Garden was historically used to grow medicinal plants for pilgrims traveling between London and Canterbury. Recently restored by the Kent Gardens Trust, it now offers a tranquil retreat behind its high stone walls. The impressive Archbishop's Palace complex, once a rest stop for traveling archbishops, features 14th-century architecture with 16th-century additions and now serves as the town's registry office.
Wonderful place and also the Office for Registrar of Kent. Spacious and well maintained for official purposes like the citizenship ceremony. Located at the heart of Maidstone on the Mill street with convenience of short and long stay car parks. Has the option to pay by Ringo with reasonable parking charges.

Steak house
Malta Inn Beefeater is a charming 3-storey clapboarded venue with waterside tables overlooking the locks. In Maidstone, you can enjoy local wines, beers, and ciders at various pubs. The town has a history of brewing, and you can sample drinks from Goachers Brewery and Shepherd Neame Brewery nearby. When dining at Malta Inn Beefeater, steak-lovers should try the mouth-watering Mixed Grill or Truffle Steak Burger from the menu.
"The ribeye steak was exceptional—so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch. Huge kudos to the chef for such an amazing meal! We thoroughly enjoyed everything."

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish! We’d just checked in to the Premier Inn and decided to get some food, and from the moment we walked in we were welcomed into a friendly, calm, and peaceful atmosphere. Our server, David, was an absolute delight. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it’s honestly the best service we’ve had at a Beefeater in years. David struck the perfect balance – professional and attentive when taking our order, while also making us laugh with a few light-hearted jokes along the way. He really is a valuable member of staff, and his friendliness made the whole experience extra special. Thank you so much to the whole team – and especially to David – for such a lovely evening.

The Malta Inn Beefeater, nestled by the river, earns praise for its picturesque waterfront location, making it an ideal spot for gatherings. Many travelers enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, though some note dated decor. Service receives mixed reviews; while some find staff friendly, others experience slow service. Food opinions vary widely, with some enjoying tasty meals, but others encountering issues with quality and delays. Although the value is generally seen as reasonable, portion sizes and food consistency sometimes disappoint.
Keith D — Google review
Really good looking pub and at a great location. However, the food was terrible. 1) they did not have what we wanted to order 2) The service was not great as there were a lot of people going around not paying attention to customers calling to them, and we had to make an effort to get someone's attention on 5 different occasions. 3) the food was very poorly presented and not up to the standards we would expect, the nachos had barely drips of cheese on them, the mixed grill was very poorly cooked as the sausages were burnt from one side and nearly not cooked on the other side, the same for the gammon steak which was nearly burnt on one side and still had the white from the fat on the other. Additionally, the steak which i ordered medium was well done and also did not taste well at all, the chicken was burnt. All in all a bad experience for a very well placed pub. Will think twice before visiting again.

Extremely Disappointed -Burnt, Greasy Calamari at Beefeater I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent visit to Beefeater was so disappointing that I feel it’s necessary to warn others. I ordered the calamari, expecting something light, crispy, and enjoyable. What I got was completely different - the calamari was overcooked to the point of being burnt, incredibly greasy, and almost inedible. The oil had pooled on the plate, leaving a slick, unappetising mess. The pieces were dry and hard on the outside yet unpleasantly chewy inside. Presentation was also poor,it looked like it had been carelessly thrown onto the plate without any thought. Even the lemon wedge provided looked tired and unappealing. The amount of oil on the dish made it feel heavy and unbalanced, completely missing the mark for what should be a fresh, tasty starter. For the price Beefeater charges, I expected much better quality and care in preparation. This was one of the worst calamari dishes I have ever been served, and it has definitely put me off ordering seafood here again. Verdict: Greasy, burnt, and poorly presented - definitely not worth the money.

We had a really lovely dinner. We ordered starters and mains, and everything came up correctly and the food was really tasty and hot. Melanie did a great job as our server, she was welcoming and friendly, and very attentive. This was very reassuring as one of our group has an extreme wheat allergy. We also enjoyed watching the sunset over the river! 🤩

I took my daughter to the Malta inn for her birthday, an early evening meal. We sat down at a table but was asked to move to a smaller area as they were only serving on that area, we were then shown to our table. The chairs were nothing short of disgusting! Also hairs stuck to the table side, we didn’t make a fuss as the area was clustered and busy with full tables. The food was quite nice BUT quite mean small portions. At the finish we offered up the discount code emailed to us only to be told that it doesn’t apply in the Malta Inn so be sure to check. Waiter David was a good guy.

I had brilliant service from start to finish. Karl gave a warm and friendly welcome. He left me the perfect amount of time to choose what I was having from the menu. Great steaks, burgers, traditional pub classics and salads. I opted for the House Salad which was fresh and crisp. I had no room for dessert but next time I will be. Karl offered a high standard of service from start to finish and was helpful with his recommendations. I will be coming back.

We stay at Premier Inn’s around the country for work and have never had a problem with breakfast, but this place was the exception. Half of the party had to leave before their breakfast came due to excessive wait times, those that did wait were served disgusting food as photographed. Inedible.

My recent dining experience at Sir Thomas Wyatt Beefeater in Maidstone was nothing short of exceptional. Not only was the steak outstanding, a testament to their superb grilling techniques, but the kids’ menu also deserves special mention. It’s heartening to see a range of options that cater so well to younger palates, combining both nutrition and taste that’s kid-friendly. The entire meal was a symphony of flavors, and the attentive service added to the overall delightful experience. The restaurant’s ambiance is welcoming for families, making it a perfect choice for a satisfying meal out with the whole family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great family dining experience.

Long long wait for food , ordered flat bread with pesto and tomatos, not sure what we got , looked like a large Yorkshire, teaspoon of pesto and 4baby tomatoes sliced, very strange, flat bread is just that …. Flat, I had pesto sea bass and roasted potatoes Sea bass over cooked had to search for the pesto, potatoes were just boiled new potatoes, peas were hard and asparagus over cooked, meal was tasteless but eat it because I hadn’t eaten all day . Other person ordered mixed grill upgraded to Sirloin steak asked for medium to well , asked for tomato sauce took about 10 mins to arrive , when it eventually arrived steak was still bleeding , sausage was burnt, had to send the food back. When it eventually arrived back , got a whole new meal, steak was cooked properly but was a lot smaller than the first one, Overall totally disappointed and totally regret going, will not be returning.

Teapot Island is a charming and welcoming destination with a delightful cafe offering a wide selection of freshly cooked food. The main attraction is the exhibition featuring over 8,000 teapots in various shapes and designs, making it an entertaining experience for visitors. There's a small shop for tea pot collectors to find reasonably priced souvenirs. Despite its stark interior, the location by the river offers a lovely outdoor area.
An amazing collection of, yes, teapots. There is also a cafe there with outside & inside tables. We never tried tge food, but the cafe was busy on a summer Friday lunchtime. We arrived, as I said at around lunchtime. There is some street parking, but this is very limited. The car park, well a large field, has a flat £3.50 charge for all day. There were a couple of camper vans, who chose to enjoy the field & the country walks in the area. We however were teapot hunting, a minutes walk from the parking & we were there. Entry to the collection was £3 each. I return there were thousands of teapots, hopefully my pictures help give an idea as to the scale & type of teapots. We were in there for around 35 minutes, had we not had a prior lunch booked, we would have used the cafe after as it was indeed a lovely summers day. Not, dare I say everyone's cup of tea, but a great collection of teapots, for those who love them.

Nice place for a family visit. There are plenty of food choices. Fresh baked cakes and scones. High tea available. Daily soup options. Freshly made sandwiches. Plenty choices of cold and hot drinks. Inside and out door sitting areas. Special thank you to the staff, who looked after us today.

Lovely afternoon spent at Teapot island. The high tea we had was lovely, a great selection of sandwiches and yummy scones! The service for our coach load was excellent with everyone very friendly and welcoming. The Teapot collection was amazing!!! Never have I seen so many and such a variety!!! Fantastic! 😃 Well worth a visit. 🤗

Lovely visit to teapot Island today. We had a late breakfast, well cooked. We didn't wait too long even though they were quite busy, but with the lovely views of the river it was not a problem. The Teapot museum looked interesting but we didn't have time to visit on this occasion but will return.

Lovely place for Teapots and if kids love painting. It has a wonderful collection of around 8,450 types of teapots spanning over a century in collection. They do offer dinning services and staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Wonderful place with over 8000 teapots. Good access and reasonably priced meals. Good children's play area. Excellent service. Located on the Medway near a marina

A really great place if you love teapots, it has a museum of 8000 teapots! We did a pottery painting session for a friend's birthday, it was very therapeutic. We had high tea with it, which was individual sandwiches and home-made scones and pots of tea. Lovely little place near a river.

Amazing place, the staff are so friendly, the food is homemade and delicious. The museum is beautifully curated and the range of teapots is amazing. There is also a large selection of teapots for sale in their lovely gift shop. Definitely worth the visit we hope to come back soon.

We had a really nice day out.the girls loved it .there is only one small coffee van but was closed on Saturday when we were there so you might wanna plan your day out properly and get your water or any snacks from home or somewhere else. For the parking you can only pay for the full day wich wasn't too much (3,5£) and plenty of parking spaces.Would definitely visit this place again 😀

Beautiful bridge and gorgeous scenery. Good walk for dogs (on leash) and for children alike. Great playground and Shetland Cows dotted around the fields, that are super chill.

My husband and I took our nearly 4 year old grandsons after reading the reviews. It was a warm sunny afternoon. Parking was easy, (on a Monday of the school summer holiday) The parking machine is located in front of the toilets. You need to tap your registration number in and costs £2 for the day. However the toilets smelt badly and that was from outside! There was a snack wagon on the edge of the car park. But takes card only! The playground could have been better and really a separate area for younger and older children. There was a climbing type frame with slide attached, which our grandsons could manage, some swings for younger and older children, a small wooden type tent and not much more. The grass area near the car park was popular with table/benches. Good area for a picnic and to play outdoor games. We walked through gates and passed the cows who took no notice of us, but beware of the cow pats! Walking along to the lock which our grandsons loved to see and then continuing to walk where there were places our grandsons could throw stones and sticks in the river. Their favourite thing at the moment. There were some muddy areas and it hasn’t rained for a while so would imagine it could get very muddy in the colder months. The pathways weren’t proper paths and more wild than tame. We saw some people fishing and a couple of canoes and rowing boats But our grandsons loved it and said they had a lovely day ☺️

Wow what a lovely place to visit. Lots of nice paths, benches views and nice people. Loved seeing the cows roaming freely. Highly recommended

Such a lovely space. We enjoyed walking around the main area and down to the weir and through the forest area to the bridge. Definitely want to come back for a whole day, we saw lots of groups of people on the grass with friends and family and gazebos..... such a great idea! Daughter loved the playground and the wooden animals/features. Lots of benches and spaced all around the main park. Toilets were closed when we tried to go before leaving, tough when you have a 6 year old who had been drinking a lot due to the warm weather!
Becca S — Google review
What a lovely place to spend a Sunday morning. £2 for the hole day to park your car. A very well maintained WC. Great outdoor park for the children. Horses and cows grazing round one of the walks.A very interesting lock to take a look around down on the river. People were setting off paddle boarding and kannooing too. We had a lovely stroll down stream, then onto the massive field with plenty of benches to sit and chill out. Highly recommended place for a bit of quiet time.

Clare Park is a compact recreational park in Maidstone that offers various amenities for visitors to enjoy. It features picnic areas, a playground for children, and sports courts including tennis and basketball. The park provides a vital green space for the community to socialize, connect with nature, and improve physical and mental well-being. Despite its small size, it offers a lovely atmosphere with walking paths and facilities for different activities such as football and basketball. Visitors can also find a Bowling Green area within the park.
Lovely big park to walk around, good playground area with lots to do. Had tennis courts lots of benches and areas to sit and relax.
Joseph T — Google review
Absolutely love it, very friendly community and people around the park. A slight maintenance is required to sports fields, may be with nets, the poles, the grass and the markings of the court and the cleanliness would attract, involve, gather and encourage more sports and park enthusiast to utilise the facilities provided. And another matter is that you got handful of dogs and pets just having a fun time and I just love it. Also the toilets is closed too early and not maintained to expectations. But still love it and happy with what we have.
Rahul R — Google review
It is not too big but friendly park to spend a short time with the kids or friends. It has very lovely atmosphere, nice walking paths, playground for the kids, open air tennis-court and a 2in1 football ground/basketball ground, but it is so small, you can walk around in 10 minutes.

Lovely little park with a swing park, tennis court and basketball cage. Nice to have a walk around. It's not very big but big enough. The major downside is all the school children congregate there and are noisy and the language is appalling. Best to avoid lunchtime and home time.

Bearsted Woodland Trust is a delightful destination for nature lovers and families alike. Renowned for its stunning bluebell walks, this woodland sanctuary offers a variety of trails ranging from 1.5km to 5km, making it perfect for leisurely strolls with kids or dogs. The area features designated off-lead zones for pets and play areas for children, ensuring everyone has a great time outdoors.
A great place to have a walk especially with kids or dogs. Area for dogs to be off lead & places where they need to be on. Kids play area. There is paid parking at a small car park nearby or you can park on The Ashford Road for free & walk along several paths in to the park. There used to be several carved wood sculptures but some have now rotted away but it still has a few features.

Such a nice quiet woods with carvings trails and walk up to local church which i think is quite old. The woods got funded by local organisations and company's. Many of the trees and plants are dedicated to people that have passed. Nice touch. There is a gym trail with wooden equipment.

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming village of Yalding, The Boathouse is a delightful traditional country pub that exudes warmth and character. With its inviting exposed beams and cozy open fires, it offers a perfect retreat for those seeking comfort food and a relaxed atmosphere. This beloved establishment has transformed from its previous identity as The Anchor, now serving up classic British fare alongside an extensive selection of drinks.
We visited last night for dinner, and it was probably the best steak we've ever had! All the food was so good.. the restaurant was spotless and in a great location.. we will be returning for definite. It's definitely a good place for a first date!! 14/2/25- We visited last night for Valentines dinner.. the food was really good, but it just needed those little extra tweaks to make it perfect.. the mushroom starter was tasty, but the bread needed toasting, and it needed seasoning a bit more. Perhaps that's just my taste.. the calamari was really chewy, and the batter wasn't very crispy. The steak was really good, but the fat needed searing, a bit.. the chips and salad were fantastic!! Our table was very poorly lit, but we're laid out really well. Will always want to come back to the Boathouse. The service was great!

What a stunning place! Right by the river, large dining areas, outside tables. Delicious food. A wonderful discovery and on our list of favourites 😍
Sue L — Google review
The Boathouse…I’ve known it forever since it was the Anchor and been there many times as I used to have a boat moored there. My opinion is as follows it’s a lovely well-designed open-plan airy pub with fabulous outside area by the river…stunning location in the summer. Food is pretty average and a little expensive but am prepared to pay a little extra for a lovely location. Went there yesterday for lunch and the main problem with the Boathouse is the staff…very hit and miss. Been there when the staff are friendly and helpful and then there’s yesterday’s experience where they seem miserable and unhelpful. Their policy for some bizarre reason was to serve you your meal (outside) and then instruct you to walk the length of the pub to get your cutlery and condiments (not had this in any other restaurant that I can remember). We thought that was unacceptable and I could easily have had a row over it. Next time I will as we intend to go back. It didn’t seem yesterday like a very happy place inside which reflects on the customer.

We booked The Boat House two days in advance to celebrate my daughter’s birthday with a table of 8 people. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. When we arrived, we discovered they only had two beef steaks available, even though six of us wanted to order steak. To make it worse, there were no other beef options on the menu. My partner ended up ordering fish and chips instead, but what came out was a ham and egg dish – something he didn’t even order. On a positive note, the waiters were great – polite, attentive, and clearly doing their best. I had mentioned in the reservation that it was my daughter’s birthday, and they kindly wrote “Happy Birthday” on her brownie and added a candle, which was a thoughtful touch. However, the lack of preparation in the kitchen, especially for a booking made in advance for 8 people, is not acceptable for a place like this. It was very disappointing to find the restaurant unable to serve what is supposed to be one of their main dishes. Better organisation and stock management are really needed.
Daniele R — Google review
We returned to the Boathouse to find a big change not for the best. We visited lunchtime Sat 12th Oct 25, I am sad to say the food was overpriced and not at all pleasant. My husband's chicken was dry and quite small, I had mushroom burger dry and lumpy, very bland. Both were poor value for money. My Mother in Law's haddock was mushed up inside, what you expect from a budget brand and she wasn't happy. When she came to pay she was disappointed at the price and the Waitress didn't ask why, so customer care doesn't rank highly. We really should have realised all was not well because for a Saturday lunchtime the pub was virtually empty! When our drinks arrived we had hardly any orange juice in the orange and lemonade and this has never happened to us. My Mother in Laws coffee was small. It was such a pity because the surroundings are lovely but good and service the worst we've experienced in a while. They were too busy putting the feather duster around when we needed help in any way, we've never experienced this before either. I can't recommend this place and we won't be returning and I just hope people see the light and they are forced to change things, as we came away feeling this had been daylight robbery in every sense of the word.
Belinda M — Google review
Had a lovely lunch here! The food was really delicious! It was so lovely to be looking out on to the lock!! We were served by a new server on her first day and she was absolutely charming!! The other staff were really friendly too!! Will definitely come back here again. It must be lovely in the summer!

A deconstructed ham sandwich. While the menu and price would make you think you are getting a charcutterie, it is just a ham sandwich playing at fine dining. Nice pint, true, but it should be at the price. All in the place is just a money grab.

Nestled on Week Street, Greek Paradise Bakery is a delightful gem that brings the flavors of Greece right to Maidstone. This charming spot offers an array of both sweet and savory treats, making it an ideal destination for breakfast or lunch. With its modern decor and welcoming atmosphere, it's perfect for enjoying a refreshing drink alongside delicious pastries. During a recent visit for Mother's Day brunch, I stumbled upon this bakery and was instantly captivated by the stunning selection of cakes on display.
Am Greek and I found this bakery accidentally during a short visit to Maidstone. Everything was perfect, staff were Albanians from Kosovo, they were polite and friendly and they had everything a Greek will ask when abroad like spinach pie cheese pie etc. I also enjoyed a freddo cappuccino coffee, it was amazing. Went for a mothers day brunch. We didn't intend to go. We were just passing, but the cakes looked so wonderful, so we stopped in. 5 of us ate 5 different cakes. We all tried a little of each other's and every cake was delicious. 5 different drinks and all went down a treat. The coffee was top notch, and as someone that drinks my coffee black, I can be fussy. The staff were polite. The decor was light and soft. It was just a wonderful way to start our day in town. Highly recommended for brunch/lunch.

What a treat! I am so glad to have discovered this little piece of paradise. In the heart of Maidstone you could be in Greece. This was my first experience of authentic Greek coffee. I do like my coffee. This did not disappoint. We were lucky to get the last table outside, in the shade thank goodness as it was rather hot today. Fish and chips takeaway
Marino Fish Bar in Bearsted has long been regarded as a reputable establishment, with many residents of the area praising its quality. However, recently there have been complaints about reduced portion sizes, particularly when it comes to their once-generous servings of chips. Nonetheless, it should be noted that Marino Fish Bar offers more than just fish and chips; customers can also choose from burgers and kids boxes featuring fish fingers among other options. The prices are reasonable and both card and cash payments are accepted.
I’ve been coming to Marino’s since I was a young lad and it’s always been the best chippy I’ve been to. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted with a warm welcome and smiles from the staff which is always a bonus. The food is amazing, great quality and fresh. There are plenty of great, tasty dishes to choose from, which often leaves me spoilt for choice. I was extremely happy on my last visit with the portion size as it definitely filled me up. The owner, Donda, really made the visit pleasant as he takes great care of his staff and customers. Would defo recommend and will be coming back!

Last evening I ordered a medium sized cod and got it home to discover it was all batter with very little fish. I have never been disappointed with any previous piece of fish from this shop except on this occasion when I was unable to find sufficient to eat. Fortunately I ordered a large portion of chips and without these I certainly would have remained hungry. If this is what customers can expect then I intend to go elsewhere in future.

If you're on the hunt for a delicious kebab experience, look no further than Maidstone Best Kebab. This gem offers an array of perfectly seasoned and grilled kebabs that are simply mouthwatering. I had an exceptional experience at Maidstone Best Kebab! The kebabs were perfectly seasoned and grilled to juicy perfection. I recently had the pleasure of trying out Maidstone Best Kebab, and I must say, it was quite an enjoyable experience. The convenience of receiving my order within 10 minutes after placing it was impressive, and I was pleased to see that they also offer online delivery options. I opted for the chicken kebab, and it certainly lived up to my expectations. The flavors were on point, and the quality of the chicken was commendable. One of the highlights for me was the well-prepared salad that accompanied the kebab – fresh and delicious. Another positive note is the availability of car parking, which made the whole experience hassle-free. On the downside, I was disappointed to find out that there is no eat-in option available at the establishment. This limitation can be inconvenient for those who prefer to dine in and enjoy their meal on-site. While the prompt delivery and flavorful food are definitely pluses, the lack of a dine-in area might deter some customers seeking a sit-down dining experience. All in all, Maidstone Best Kebab offers a swift and tasty solution for kebab enthusiasts, with quick delivery and delectable flavors. The positives, such as the flavorful chicken and well-prepared salad, along with the convenience of parking, make it a great choice for a quick bite. However, the absence of an eat-in option could be a drawback for those looking to dine on-site.

Let’s just say they’re so good, I nearly proposed to my doner. 😅 Juicy, flavourful, and cooked just right. If you’re hungry and fancy a treat, this place won’t let you down!”
