Château La Canorgue

Beautiful place with delightful wines and welcoming service. The setting is paradise and I can understand how it would have made an excellent choice for a movie. The wines are fantastic and the lady that helped us very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

So disappointed. My wife and I stopped by there today and the place said it was closing at 7 pm and we were there at around 5:30 pm. No one was there. No cars in the parking lot. We did not end up going in. We were going to take some pictures but then noticed this sign. They could have made this such an awesome place with maybe some tours or some pictures of the movie but it was totally disappointing. Not worth going at all. I understand that they want their privacy but did they really think it though when they decided to allow a movie to be filmed there???

I would like to share impressions from our recent visit. Château La Canorgue was one of the must-see stops during our short journey through Provence. We knew from the very beginning that the estate was created with great passion and love, and we simply could not miss the chance to visit. We arrived early on a Monday morning and were the very first visitors. A gentleman (unfortunately we did not ask his name) kindly welcomed us and dedicated his time to us. He explained the different processes and nuances of winemaking, and guided us through a wonderful tasting, which led us to make some delightful purchases. We also had the chance to walk through the garden, which is beautiful, and when we were leaving, a shepherd dog accompanied us, making the experience even more memorable. We just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for your kindness and hospitality. Everything we bought safely made its way back with us to Estonia, and we are so happy to bring a piece of Provence home. I never write bad reviews but our experience was bad. Pretty winery but cold and distant service that is not friendly or enticing to want to buy wine. It’s a pity because we were really looking forward to the experience as there were wine lovers in our group and we had all seen the movie A Good Year. Wine wasn’t great either but it could be that our taste buds were affected by the lack of enthusiasm shown by the person serving us.

We stopped for a wine tasting. It seemed closed, but you have to ring a bell and someone will appear. We expected to have a sit and drink some wine, maybe bite to eat as well. We have tried two red wines and decided to buy one. It was 6 Euros. My wife told me that a film was made here, ".Good year", with Russell Crowe, Ridley Scott film. The setting was beautiful, but the presentation could be better. I guess that tourists have more enthusiasm so one should take advantage of that. If you offer a glass of wine for 20 Euros on the place where Russell Crowe had his wine, everyone would pay. However, the lady was sweet, offered us two different wines, they were out of stock for some wine and we bought one bottle cause we didn't have space in the luggage. We just enjoyed it in our room. I would recommend to the manager a wine tasting package, (4, 5 wines to taste 20, 30 Euros), maybe a cheese, two aside, couple of chairs in front, quick tour at the chateau, some angdote from the movie set, (people love stories, even if they are half true), or something like that. If it wasn't for the movie, no one would know about this place, so try to take advantage of that. Still the lady was nice to us, charming. We would spend more than our lousy 6 Euros , but didn't have the chance.
