Nestled along the picturesque riverside of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Restaurant le Vivier is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This chic and contemporary establishment, helmed by acclaimed chef Patrick Fischnaller, offers a delightful array of refined tasting menus complemented by exquisite wine pairings. Guests can unwind on the stylish orange sofa in the Art Deco lounge with a glass of wine before indulging in dishes like foie gras and smoked eel terrine or pigeon pie.
Amazing culinary experience in the great 1 star michelin reataurant. Amazing wine as well. Highly recommended. We took the 6 course menu offer and it was well worth it.

I was a but let down by the restaurant. The food was beautiful but laked depth or much flavour. There was a mothers day menu and that was the only option. The courses came out 15/ 20 min apart. For one person it was a 3.5 hour meal. The ingredients were fresh. The steak was so incredibly grisly and tough to chew - was a shame. The fish soup, I almost didn't finish, even though it was so small. The vitello tonato was awesome

Category: Fine Dining. This restaurant earns a string of Impressives: impressive menu, impressive creativity, impressive decor, impressive plating, impressive food, impressive wine pairing, impressive service. This was the finest fine dining of the several fine dining restaurants we experienced during a week in this interesting town. We liked the subdued lighting and Japanese-ish aesthetic, which was apparent in the decor, serving plates, and plating. We dined there as part of a group dinner, which our local hosts chose for the last night of a week-long culinary tour, which says a lot. There is also a large outdoor deck for riverside dining, but it was too cool for al fresco dining when we visited (mid-October). We didn’t choose our dishes or wines, but the restaurant did an impressive job of doing it for us. The meal started with several amuse bouche. My bouche was so amused that we probably could have stopped eating after those amusing courses. But we didn’t stop and instead enjoyed four impressive courses, three savory and one sweet (see the photos). If you want gourmet for gourmands, gatronomic for gastronomes, and culinary for culinarians, enjoy an evening (or lunch) at this fine restaurant. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

We had the menu du marché and it was one of the best and most creative meals of my life. Everything was truly exceptional from the food to the service to the setting to the cocktails. It’s basically six different rounds of food and the value is great as well. Merci beaucoup!
Landon M — Google review
So happy I was able to be fit in as a walk-in for dinnertime. Beautiful location and walk to the restaurant from the center. Kind staff- the manager even gave me a lift to the hotel as I was so jet lagged and tired- thank you! My favorite dish was the refreshing sea bass and cucumber- fun presentation that looked like a jellyfish, and perfect for warmer weather! Service was great and the dishes were creative and tasty. I loved the clear teapot with herbs that came with the cheese. The cheese I think I need to get used to- much earthier than I’m used to and for some reason was a bit stiff and cold as if it was sitting in the fridge- maybe it’s a French thing! A very pleasant evening and dinner.
Hannah — Google review
We had a lovely meal at Vivier. The food, the drinks and the service were all perfect.
T H — Google review
Generally speaking, the food has very high quality, meat in perfect cuisson, simple, juicy, sauce is well balanced and fish in well seasoned, Gnocchi escargot was not what I expected in a good way, texture is very interesting. Service is good, efficient. Between each dish we didn’t wait for too long. Environment is nice, by the river, good view. However… The 1 down side of the restaurant is we came for dinning as two people, my partner hasn’t sat down, it was only me at the table but they have already brought the amuse buch, like they are in a hurry for the last order of lunch. The 2nd down side I have to say it’s the dessert. Plates are nice, visual pleasant, but not interesting at all, even a bit too sweet.
Azusa T — Google review
Very tasty Michelin star restaurant located on the side of a small river. FOOD -octopus was visually pleasing with many colors in the plate. It was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing in the tarte. A very special starter which I enjoyed every bite of. -the duck main was extremely tasty. We did three Michelin restaurants in 3 days with 3 ducks and this was the best one we had. -the dorade was good, less wow but the sauce with it was delicious. -i enjoyed the fact you can go tasting menu or A La Carte which gives you flexibility -my only criticism is that the menu is quite small STAFF/SERVICE Bottom-line: I didn’t feel like a valued customer. Perhaps it’s because they have too many tables, perhaps it’s because staff don’t care enough but it felt like the bare minimum was done. I’d expect more personalised service for a Michelin star restaurant. Every time I asked for more water or more olive oil, it took quite some time to arrive, if it even arrived as the waiters sometimes forgot. Staff spoke good English though and I liked their casual attire, smart but white trainers which was cool. ATMOSPHERE Quite romantic as it’s dark on the terrace in the evening. It can get noisy depending where you are sat. Clearly the nicest tables are on the river bank. CONCLUSION: great food, beautiful restaurant but service needs to be a little more Michelin worthy

Coffee shop
Café de France L'Isle sur la Sorgue is a renowned Art Nouveau coffee shop, known for its historic atmosphere and charming decor. As the oldest café in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, it boasts water-stained counters and vintage posters that reflect a bygone era. Situated near the Collegiate Church, this prestigious eatery has a long and fascinating history, immortalized by Parisian photographer Willy Ronis in the 1970s.
We had lunch at this restaurant 3 years ago and loved it. We came on a market day and didn’t have a reservation, but they treated us like we did! Today we had the pleasure to return, as we are staying in town for a month. Our meal was excellent and the two women working today were wonderful- joking with us and very kind. We will definitely be regular diners while we are here!

Perfect spot for a quick breakfast or lunch while making a stop in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. I had the €10 special that included an omelette, pain au chocolate, coffee, and orange juice. Solid deal and nice food for the price point. Quick service too.
Tim S — Google review
Cute restaurant in the heart of the old town. The meal sized salads were large and filling. The hamburger is homemade with fresh ground meat. You can tell that the ground is coarser with more texture and not a processed meat paste. You can also customize the doneness (blue, rare, medium etc). The fries were also homemade. Their daily specials change often (we passed by several times during our stay) which is always a good sign of a kitchen keeping things fresh and creative. Much of the clientele were either locals or French speaking domestic tourists. Another good sign!

Excellent cafe situated on the picturesque central square of the town opposite the church. We stopped here several times during our stay for coffee, cocktails, wine, and lunch. They have delightful tables beneath soaring shade trees and two floors of tables inside. The period architecture and decorations surround and transport you while the staff are friendly and welcoming. Can't recommend this place more highly.

Perfect spot for a filling lunch, excellent prices, great service, in a beautiful setting. Recommend the chèvre chaud and tarte tatin.

A must in Isle. Home cuisine. Unpretentious and delicious. Great atmosphere with mostly locals. Great decor (i hope they will not touch it). New owners since last year have brought « great » back. We have known this place for 30 years and now it’s time to come back.

What an amazing place!! We were in town for a week and came here a few times - what a kind and wonderful staff. I got caught in a rainstorm the first time I came in and they pointed me to the nearest store to buy an umbrella haha The coffee is amazing and the food is also great! The space is so neat. Can’t wait to visit town and stop here again! Also- reading some other reviews, I should note that my French is horrible but the staff was so kind and patient as I tried to speak a little French and order my food and coffee. Thanks for a great experience!
Jeff S — Google review
We stopped for coffee and stayed for lunch! Friendly service, lovely setting and good value. Dish of the day was duck breast or whitefish (Mostelle/Forkbeard) for a mere 12€ which, given the setting and the tourist attractions, was a great deal. The food was well-prepared, tasty and served hot. The dishes on the neighbouring tables looked very appetizing too. Lovely crème brulée for dessert.

Église Notre-Dame-des-Anges de L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a 17th-century Romanesque church located in the heart of the town. While its exterior may seem simplistic, the interior boasts intricately carved woodwork and a richly gilded altarpiece. The church's history dates back to 1212 when a collegiate church was founded under its patronage.
Such a striking difference between the outside and the inside. Simply breathtaking.
Alex — Google review
An ornate church in the centre of the old town. Frothing with decoration, sculpture and frescos. An interesting engagement with modern art which is dotted around inside and outside and has explanations in English. A cool spot to escape to when the heat gets too much! We didn’t pay to enter but there may be a charge at other times.
Andy R — Google review
Fascinatingly decorated huge church at the center of town. It has sculptures, paintings, and wall decorations that reward close exhortation. The church is located opposite several charming sidewalk cafes and serves as the hub of radiating pedestrian streets. A must visit site when in the city.

This is the main square with the church. You can access the source of the spring from here or sit in one of the restaurants. There are few parking spots here and the place is not very acceasible for wheelchairs and strollers.

Flea & Street Markets
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Market is a must-visit, especially the sprawling Sunday market with over 300 vendors offering local ceramics, pottery, fruits, vegetables, bread, and other Provencal delicacies. The Thursday market near the church in Place Rose Goudard is smaller but equally charming. It features stalls selling fruit, cheese, flowers, artwork and antiques. The friendly stall owners offer a wide variety of fresh produce, soap, clothes and souvenirs.
PICTURESQUE French market. Spent a few hours taking in the scenery, eating pastries, drinking cafe, and shopping for produce, fruit, meat, cheese, flowers and even some simple clothing! Lots and lots of antiques, as others have mentioned. This could easily take an entire day to enjoy, even though it's relatively small. The canals are beautiful and lots of great spots for pictures. We did not experience any high pressure selling whatsoever. We took home a roasted chicken and potatoes for dinner. Made a quick green bean and tomato salad with olive oil and lemon, all purchased at the market. Most vendors only take cash so be ready. Little English spoken but it was fun to practice our French. Parking can be tricky to find. Many vendors close up just past noon. We would definitely go back.
Ann-Marie — Google review
The market is extremely large. I’d say it’s too large. Super crowded. Very hard to find parking if you don’t get there early enough. Many multiples of stalls and lots of Knick knacks. Other markets in the area are more manageable and have the same stuff. Visiting the town on a non market day lets you see the real beauty of the town. Show up early or late (after 1pm) and parking and visiting becomes more manageable.
Jesse S — Google review
Such a lovely town. Stayed Sept 25, picturesque with a fabulous Sunday market which is heaving! Great choice of restaurants, bars & shops to mooch about in.

Larger market winding through town and along canals. Lovely. Lots of food, cheese, bread, clothing, antiques. Town itself is very nice.

Very busy lunch time during summer time ..lots of cafes don't take card so make sure you have cash in hand. There are cafes around fountain in the middle . Waiting time is Long ,but the problem is pegion and water in the fountain stinks .Lots of shops and cafes nearby .... beautiful town with lots of tourist . Shops are way too expensive ,you go to small towns like caroentras you get the same items for the half of price . Good for a half day out .

Awesome!!! We went to the market in October and it rained the whole time but it was so worth it to still be out and about! Great market with lots of amazing things to buy- very friendly people

Le Jardin du Quai is a charming garden restaurant located in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, offering a delightful dining experience. The chef, who previously worked at La Mirande, brings his expertise to create a market-based menu that changes daily. The restaurant's lush green surroundings and elegant outdoor seating provide a tranquil atmosphere for enjoying the delicious cuisine. Guests can also expect attentive service and may even receive a special treat from the chef at the end of their meal.
Fantastic evening in Jardin du Quai. Great atmosphere and wonderful ambience once the sun goes down. My wife and eldest child are vegetarian and they accommodated both happily when talking us through the menu and making changes to suit. The food was very good and enjoyed by all. Service was also very good with us being made to feel very welcome.

Daniel is the man. Salmon tappade on sweet potato was a good teaser. Raie stingray was bony, meat with mashed potato, had to spice it. John Dory as the main, sorry too cooked, hard piece and needed to spice it.

One of our most favorite restraunts in my trip in southern france. Good balance of flavors, I personally like the Gazpacho and the Aioli fish the most

Beautiful garden setting. Food was good. Service was intermittent. Tho in fairness they had a huge function of two or three large tables which stretched the floor staff. Always a challenge for a restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic place.Great atmosphere. An amazing menu. Rich wine list. Attentive service. The chef approached all customers. Paid attention to everyone. Asked the customers opinion. The menu changes every day. And all the dishes are amazing. You can swallow your tongue. We had a romantic evening. At the end of dinner we received a special sweet "compliment" from the chef. By the way, he speaks not only French, but also English. It was very nice.

Terrific food. Have been here a dozen times. Set menu, but always happy with the choices. Great service, nice chef, nice labrador, too! Their sister restaurant next door, Atelier du Jardin is also very good, with an a la carte menu.

The Villa Datris Foundation for contemporary sculpture is a must-visit destination in the area. Housed in a 19th-century mansion, this gallery showcases an impressive collection of contemporary sculptures from both national and international artists. The pieces are displayed across three floors of the building, with larger works exhibited in the surrounding gardens. Visitors can enjoy thought-provoking and interesting art exhibitions that are carefully curated each year. The garden space adds to the experience, providing a magnificent setting for outdoor artwork display.
A must-visit, the orphanage-turned-muséum features changing exposures across various themes and genres. The current expo «faire corps» is an intriguing collection of classic and contemporary (colorful) pieces and installations. Definitely worth a visit, if for nothing else to get a break from the buzz and heath, while getting a shot of culture. Entrance is free.

This stylish villa just outside the island hosts sculpture exhibits. It was free when we visited and the works on display were excellent. The building itself and surrounding grounds are as wonderful in design as the art pieces it houses. This place is definitely worth visiting when in the city.

A number of antique shops under one space. From silverware, glass ware and furniture. We went in winter and it was very quiet. The busier months start in April. A few cafes on site and toilets too which was a bonus with my young family.
Charlene E — Google review
We arrived here at 6 pm thinking the store was open until 7 pm as advertised on Google. An older man was just closing the gates. 'We're closed.' When I asked him about the Google Maps times, he couldn't care less. 'Ohh those hours aren't right! Everybody knows we close at 6 pm.' I told him it'd be nice to update the times for tourists like us and he just shrugged: 'come back tomorrow then'. (We can't, we were on a day trip from much farther away.) It's the complete 'je m'en fous' attitude that did it for me, a bit of kindness or empathy would have made all the difference...

Le Carré d'Herbes, located at La Mirande, offers a gastronomic journey through Provence and the Mediterranean. The restaurant provides a variety of dining options, allowing guests to choose from 2, 3, or 4 sequences. While the food is highly praised for its exceptional quality and flavors, some visitors have noted that service can be slow at times. The outdoor seating area is lovely but may require protection from mosquitoes.
The food was great. I ordered truffle salad and fish. Love both, especially the fish was cooked perfectly with delicate flavor. We were terribly bitten by mosquitoes. My husband left for a while to get sprays right before the main dish arrived (should have asked the waiters for it) and the waiter took the dish back to kitchen and made sure the food is reheated after he came back. The neighborhood has great views and is very nice to walk around after dinner.

Excellent food and fantastic service and ambience. We are a family of four who arrived here during heavy rain and thunderstorms. They found us a place inside in the warm inviting cosy restaurant. They had a set menu represented great value. Every course was better than the other. The service and Hospitality was amazing.
Moez K — Google review
Category: Fine Food. This restaurant sits a little off the beaten path in a secluded garden area. Although both are very nice, we chose the livelier indoor dining room over the outside dining area. Outside has retractable glass walls that can turn the outside into inside, and vice versa, but inside has very interesting copper-clad barrel-like structures on the ceiling. Together with subdued lighting and lots of wood, including the ends of wooden wine crates, and two huge golden bird head sculptures with harpie-worthy spiked collars, the dining room has a very warm and comfortable feel, even with the bird heads. We started with a tasty bottle of local red from a very reasonably priced wine list (we prefer to pay less than 40 Euros, or even less than 30 Euros, for restaurant wines). Then the chef surprised us with a very nice amuse bouche: a blini with crawfish and gelee of crawfish bisque. Sarah started with the beautiful plat of pan-fried frogs legs, which were served with a finger bowl. I ordered the duck 🦆 foie gras medallion with chutney, which I enjoyed with both the freshly baked dark bread accompaniment and the lighter table bread. For mains we ordered the risotto, which was beautiful and tasty but needed a protein, and the gorgeous whole sea bream with mushroom 🍄‍🟫 fricassee. Be careful of the bones, which I had no trouble dodging or removing. Service was excellent. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

Magnifique! We’ve been staying at Isle sur la Sorgue for 4 days now, but this was our best experience so far. We ordered the filet de boeuf and the sea bream as main course, both of which were excellent. The service with a smile also added to the experience, both from the two hosts as well as the owner and the romantic story behind his lovely 16-year old dog Lucky. ❤️ Definitely recommended!

Amazing food! Entrees and mains were exceptional. Dessert was decent though not great. Prices excellent for the quality. Service was really good although it took way too long to pay. Had to keep asking until we were finally served.

(Translated by Google) A contained but very rich and well-curated exhibition, with intelligent design and multimedia material functional to what is exhibited. Considering that this is not a large museum but a project undertaken by private individuals, the initiative is commendable. Clearly, this is not an amusement park: perhaps those who complain about the poverty of the offer would have expected fireworks displays, while here to enjoy the experience you have to stop a bit to read and delve into what is shown.

The Musée du Jouet et de la Poupée Ancienne, or the Toy and Doll Museum, is a charming place inspired by one woman's lifelong passion for collecting dolls. Huguette Jeanselme has spent over 60 years amassing a collection of around three thousand dolls, lovingly restoring them and their clothes. Visitors are welcomed by the friendly owner who shares stories about the oldest dolls in the collection.

The art center CAMPREDON art & image is known for its impressive exhibitions that showcase modern and thought-provoking artwork. The gallery also has a well-stocked bookshop that mirrors the quality of the exhibitions, making it a worthwhile visit. One notable exhibition was dedicated to Guy Bourdin, which received high praise and even provided an opportunity to practice French with the friendly lady at the entrance. Another standout display featured Amelie Joos' work, which was inspiring and expertly presented.
A really interesting gallery on the edge of the old town centre. When we visited there was an excellent exhibition with 24 artists responding to the theme of ‘the wave’. Many exciting and exceptional artworks displayed thoughtfully. There is a small shop with lots of books on the artists and a courtyard with a permanent sculpture collection. It was only 3 euros to enter (free for students and children). Well worth a visit.

After spending a few days traveling through the south of France, we visited the antique market in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. By chance, we discovered Le Café du Village on a beautiful rainy day. Soaking wet, we walked in and were greeted by the kindest lady, who graciously helped us as we don’t speak French. We simply said, “Je ne parle pas français,” and she couldn’t have been more accommodating. We were seated at the best table upstairs in the restaurant. It’s family-owned, and the wife took excellent care of us, guiding us through the menu. The wine and food were probably the best we’ve had on this trip. The Thai chicken salad was incredibly fresh, the beef tartare was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the burgers were mouthwatering. Definitely ask for the mayo with mustard for the fries—it’s a must-try. The wine and beer selection is also fantastic. It’s the perfect spot to grab a bite after antiquing!

I would give 10 stars if they had them. So many good things to say. The waiter was friendly. Heard him taking orders in English at the other table so there's that. Child's order came out first and fast. That's a plus for restless kids. The chicken nuggets were REAL chicken and if they aren't hand breaded in the kitchen, I'm shocked. Great quality. Our steak and frites were spot on. A lot of French restaurants don't do fries right anymore - here they were correct. The steak was cooked exactly how I ordered it and it was not tough which is a huge plus for the price because the price was very reasonable for this area. I'll go back. Great place. Worth the stop.
Mark H — Google review
Very disappointing! Base of pizza was uncooked. Showed this to staff who handled the pizza with bare hands, agreed it was uncooked, took the pizza away and returned with the same pizza, still uncooked. The manager/owner then proceeded to quite publicly tell me there was no issue with the pizza and that I didn’t know what I was talking about. Other pizzas were average at best, staff were incredibly rude and unapologetic. Waste of money and a disappointing way to spend our last evening in Provence.
Eoin B — Google review
The only reason this restaurant gets customers is because the one next door is full. Their food and service are both below average. The only good thing going for them is the view which is right next to the canal. Their menu states no sharing, would have been great if the waiter mentioned it before seating us and before serving us drinks. The staff was rude and the food was below average. Avoid if you can as it's overpriced for the quality they serve and just not worth wasting your time in such a magical place like sorgue.

Category: Chocolate shop. I liked three things about this shop. 1. The chocolates are handmade in-house; 2. The owners treat chocolate as an art form; and 3. The chocolates are fresh, luscious, decadent, and delicious. Regarding no. 1, you can watch the magic through the window into the kitchen. Regarding no. 2, check out the incredible single-source Easter Egg (or the seasonal equivalent— we were there in October and the Egg was still on display), the cloches with jewel-like cones of chocolate, and the overall design and aesthetic of the shop. Regarding no. 3, we chose a representative selection of light and dark pieces from the main display case after sampling from the chalice of dark couverture. I laughed when the Mademoiselle du Chocolate said that because the chocolate is so fresh, we should eat our purchases within “three,” then paused and said “months”. I laughed and responded that they probably wouldn’t last three days, and maybe not even three hours. It’s been about three hours and half of them are luscious, decadent, and delicious memories. This store is not to be missed! Every detail throughout is so unexpected yet so well designed that it is an adventure to just be in it. The vintage clothing is very high quality with a sporty and arty attitude. The pricing is very fair for such one of a kind and beautiful pieces. And Laurence, the owner, not only knows about her inventory but is personable, attentive and fun too! She also has a table at the weekly market if you don't get time to go to this awesome store. I bought a fantastic navy wool marine sweater that I cherish- a lucky find indeed!!

If you are in the area, definitely worth a visit, and we will definitely come back. In addition, because you buy directly from the producer, the wines are extremely affordable.

(Translated by Google) This afternoon, we went to Domaine de la Chapelle for a free tasting with a very welcoming and super friendly person. We tasted three different wines: all three were excellent and at very affordable prices, between around 9 and 11 euros, which is a very good compromise given the quality of these wines. We recommend this winery. Thank you for your welcome, your professionalism, and your kindness. Of course, we will keep your address safe. Yours sincerely, Sylvie and Jean-Pierre (Original) Nous sommes allés cet après-midi au Domaine de la Chapelle pour une dégustation gratuite avec une personne très accueillante et super sympa . Passionate person and excellent wine for very good value for money. And in a magnificent setting. If you're in the area, you have to go there. (Original) Accueil sympa et chaleureuse. (Translated by Google) To boycott. A company that calls itself artisanal, but orders from India. We bought a sofa, supposedly "made on site", for more than 3,000 euros, with a cover and cushions without fixed dye. A drop of water and more dye....Remains the blanket. You might as well go to Ikea, at least you know that you are participating in big capitalism, and it's a better investment in terms of quality. It's been almost a year, almost from the date of purchase, that we have been asking for a new cover. The manager tells us that she has to check with the supplier. Remaining silent regarding the so-called done on site. We came on vacation, and fell in love with a sofa which was surely made by little Indians....sold as an atisanal! We are in Paris and our only solution will be to come next summer to stand still and hope to have another sofa cover, which will remain more than fragile since the dye is not fixed. Establishment to be strongly discouraged and boycotted. No after-sales service. We cash in and that’s it!!!! (Original) A boycoter. Aucun sav. On encaisse et basta !!!!
