A Top-Tier Golf Experience at The Preserve
Had an outstanding day at The Preserve. The course is in immaculate shape—fairways were lush, and the greens rolled fast and true. It’s a challenging track, but refreshingly fair—no gimmicky holes, just solid, well-designed golf.
Even though it wasn’t my lowest scoring round, the overall experience made it one to remember. Our twosome wrapped up 18 in just about four hours, slightly delayed by a few slower groups ahead—but still a smooth pace considering the setting.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful, well-maintained course that rewards good golf without trying too hard to impress.
The preserve has a solid layout but struggled with dry grass when I went. The course has good views and high elevation tee shots. The staff were friendly, and service orientated.
Played here on 5/26/25. The course like many say is a beautiful one. It has good elevation and distance and is very playable for all skill levels, while maintaining the opportunities for challenges. This year so far the greens and many of the fairways look dry. The green were fast but that was due to mostly them being more sand than grass. All the greens lacked the love that the price tag that you pay to play here is missing. With a cart it is $145 !!! No drinks or food included. The choice you need to make: Is this course well made and designed YES! Is the staff great YES. IS it $145 worth? I say no. I will condemn this course to the tourist trade.

The Preserve at Grand View Lodge is a beautiful course with high elevation tee shots and stunning views. Reviewers praise the friendly staff, well-maintained carts with digital scoreboards, and challenging yet playable layout. Some mention fast greens but note that they are in good condition overall. However, there are mixed opinions on the value for money due to dry grass in some areas.

Had the best time playing the Preserve. The course is in fantastic shape and plays so well. There’s some high risk high reward tee shots that make this course so exciting. Greens are excellent, fairways are well manicured, and the tee boxes and nice and level.
Can’t forget about the extremely friendly staff and the awesome barbecue we had a the turn.
Overall 5/5 I’ll be back soon.
This place was fantastic! Beautiful course with a lot of elevated tees. Everywhere is a beautiful view. The greens are pretty fast, so be ready for that! Everything is kept up very nice. The ranger was a sweetheart and let us sneak in a little early so we didn’t have to pair up with another 2some. The cart girl was a riot. The carts are awesome as they keep a digital scoreboard and let you know how close to the hole you are, which helped a lot when you couldn’t see.
It depends on when you visit! We've compiled data from NASA on what the weather is like in Baxter for each month of the year: see the links below for more information.
