Honestly, I thought it was just another old church at first. Looks like it, right? But it’s actually the Dietrichstein family tomb — kind of a hidden piece of local history. The building used to be a church way back, but after a fire in the 1700s they rebuilt it as a mausoleum. Around 45 people from the family are buried here, and they played a big role in shaping Mikulov — owned the castle, pulled the strings around town for centuries.
The outside’s impressive without being over the top. Big, solid, a bit weathered. Feels quiet, kind of serious. Not really a “wow” place, more like one that sinks in slowly when you stand in front of it and just take it in. If you’re passing through Mikulov, it’s worth the short stop. Not flashy, but it sticks with you.
