Absolutely amazing place to visit. 10th of whole site uncovered. Brilliant audio to go with the site. Free car park. Toilets in the car park. Lovely informative museum. Friendly staff.
Well worth a visit. The free audio tour enhances the outdoor experience and the timeline and indoor museum certainly helped with wider context. Helpful staff too.
A fantastic visual display of story telling around Corbridge's Roman history. The exhibition to start with was very interesting and the remains of the Roman town are easy to relate to with the audio tour which is included. Take an audio jack for headphones to best take it in.
A splendid museum, full of artefacts and very informative displays . The town itself is extensive. To best understand it and its history and evolution over time, use the free audio guides provided. They are excellent.
It didn't take long to skyrocket to one of my favourite places ever. One look and I was in love with this place. We were lucky to catch a tour which was long but worth it all, extremely informative, especially about all the hidden Roman buildings and roads nearby that have yet to be excavated. The story of the armour (which is unique! a must see alone!) and they even have a non-straight Roman wall, very rare indeed. Very nice museum too.
Unbelievable! It is wonderful and quite surreal to be walking in a high street in the middle of a field! There is lots to see and some fantastic exhibits inside. A must see! Highly recommend!
A great museum full of artifacts found at the site, well displayed with lots of information. Love seeing the items that the Romans used, fascinating how they survived buried in the ground. The Roman ruins are stunning, take the audio tour to find out lots of interesting information. They had ones that connect to hearing aids which my husband was very pleased about. A lovely place to visit and not crowded.
Well worth the visit! The free audio guide is excellent and adds to the outside experience. The Museum timeline and exhibits provide a great overview of the Roman habitation in the area.

Great castle to check out with it's history going back to the 1200's from what I understand. There was ample parking with a £3 fee or free for members. Short walk to the castle itself, the shop is where you show your tickets if you have purchased them online or you can buy the from there. Spent about 30-40 minutes here. There are outdoor areas including a collection of apple trees where you are encouraged to take one home which was nice. Well worth the visit for the reasonably small costs of the ticket.
Very disappointed in this site, expected more. The journey we had was not the best, terrible road called the military road, a single track. We travelled from Ashington in Northumberland, 57 minutes, took no more than 30 minutes to visit the site.
Ayden is a restored castle owned by English Heritage. Hugh De Reymes around 1293 began with a hall, then built a fort; good job as he and his son..had a turbulent history with war with the Scottish. One of the best orthentic castles I've been to, very detailed. Good for families & picnic tables. There is a dress up box in the castle. Ayden castle is about a mile down a lane off road( bumpy). The care park 200yds from the entrance, non members have to pay. There is a disabled parking outside entrance. Overall, wheelchair friendly. A couple of entrances has a couple of steps. There is s shop. Had a very relaxing couple of hours.
A hidden gem ... We reached Aydon Castle after a few minutes on a very small and narrow road (so be prepared) but it was worth it. The castle has a green courtyard with lots of grass for kids to play and on the side is a lovely orchard (great for picnics). There are some dotted picnic tables around too. Interesting visit inside the castle ... My kids really enjoyed it. Visit finished with ice creams from the English Heritage shop. ❤️ ps. There is an entry fee but we used our EH ticket so free.
A little castle in the beautiful countryside. Small entrance / gift shop with a very informative and helpful staff member. There are plenty of information boards inside and layouts of the rooms. We spent 30-40 minutes here. Free parking for english heritage members, small charge otherwise.
Beautiful castle! Very unexpected indeed! Upon entering, it looked to be quite underwhelming and small but actually, unlike many of the other castles we've visited, the floors have been restored and so when exploring it actually feels like you're stepping back in time and seeing the castle in its once before glory! Staff were beyond friendly & helpful, informative and welcoming. This is probably one of my favourite castles with lovely grounds for children to run around in and benches for resting and plenty of picnic places with a beautiful forestry walk going around the back of the castle. Very reasonably priced too, for what's on offer to see. 10/10 - would highly recommend!
Really enjoyed this 13th century English manor house. It was a working farm up until a year or so ago, or a few yrs (can't remember what they told us). There are quite a few things to see here. There is a small orchard, and a trail that goes around the manor house. There might have been some longer trails too, but don't remember as we stayed to tour. What we enjoyed ourselves was trying to figure out what rooms were used for, the most interesting one being what ended up being the stalls (which I totally called since it was 'indoors' we didn't think it could be that). Another thing that you typically do not see in ruins (though this place is well preserved) is an area in which the floor beams are intact and you can actually see what a 'typical' room height was - this place has it! Usually when ruins have multiple floors available, their more overlooking grand areas that either had higher ceilings, or the floor is missing over the area you're looking down in. Being to quite a few ruins now and knowing what you're looking at is spectacular. Don't necessarily wish to have been present during that time, but would love to see it back in its glory! The staff here are lovely and we quite enjoyed the gift shop. Coffee was eh, but at least it was a cuppa!
Great for the afternoon if you're a member, otherwise think twice about visiting. Aydon Castle is listed as a outstanding surviving example of a 13th century English manor house.(not to sure about that) It was built by Robert de Raymes, a prosperous Ipswich merchant. Unfortunately, his arrival in the north coincided with the outbreak of fierce hostilities between England and Scotland and the castle was pillaged and burned by the Scots in 1315. By the time Robert died in 1323, the war had destroyed him financially. Access is down a single potty lane, and small car park.

Visited about a week ago on a pub crawl. Amazing converted Peel Tower - possibly the only one that's been converted to a pub ? Owners have certainly done a fantastic job on the conversion. Set over 3 floors (see pics), couple of keg ales on (possibly key keg real ale but it doesn't really matter). Not sure of the food offering (if any). There's a single unisex toilet. Just noting if you have mobility issues the upper levels won't be accessible due to the historic nature of the building. Recommended 5🌟 from Matty 💛
Fantastic place!!!! The history behind the place, the drinks, the atmosphere - can't ask for more. Cocktails have a generous amount of alcohol. Seasonal mead is absolutely delicious. Upstairs, there is a beautiful seating near the fireplace. And the stuff is so lovely and friendly! We've been back many times. Thank you for keeping this historic building alive 🙏
We didn't eat, but the tea was grand, and my beer was superb. They have a massive selection of bottled beers. It is a joy to sit in a still functional building that was built in 1318! Not the best place for tall people, and I doubt the stairways would be great for fat folk either. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and a German radio station for background music.
My wife and I visited yesterday where we we were very well looked after by Alex. I tried the 2 on draft beers which were excellent, as well as their expresso martinis. Finally I bought 3 of their local beers (mix and match) for £13.50 which is very good value. I would definitely recommend a visit.
What a wonderful place to sit and have a coffee, in my case, but plenty of others having an alcoholic drink from their vast selection and Craft/ Guest beers too! The building has 3 floors within the old Pele (Peel) Tower. Very creatively decorated too. Do visit if you’re around the area. Nice chap running it too btw.
There's nowhere quite like this... quite possibly the most atmospheric pub I've ever visited. It's not the biggest inside but there are plenty of nooks and crannies so it's not hard to find a place - with seating across three floors. Almost feels like if an English heritage or National Trust site became a wee bar... very special.
Really unusual and unique but also so friendly and genuinely welcoming. Many thanks especially to amazing Ashley and regular Mark who made us laugh so much. Beware the stairs but well worth it for a weird and wonderful climb back into history and wee nook of comfort and cookieness
Wow! What an incredible place. It really is unique. It's on several floors, with a mezzanine level. Steep, tight, concrete, original stairways leading to different floors and rooms. So we'll decorated. Live music, on certain evenings and times. A selection of wines for sale on the groundfloor, as well as a lovely bar area. Barman was welcome and friendly. Loved every bit of it !!

I visited brockbushes farm yesterday with my two children's. Firstly I had booked the wrong day but sent an email and the staff were amazing, I got a quick response and they sorted it out for me which I massively appreciated. I booked to go to the family fun day then to go to the barn soft play afterwards. We paid per child for the family fun day which was £10.99 per child and £1.00 per adult which for what you get i think is amazing. Two hour slots, and once you get in everything was free except a hook a duck which was £5 but it was win every time and that's always a saviour for me personally, no disapointed children. Inside there were bouncy castles, instable slides, outdoor games, fair rides etc which were also free i though this was amazig. Usually you pay to get in to somewhere then have to spend a fortune in there, so amazing value for money. There was also a more quiet section which really suited my son as he has SEN and there was a sand pit and obstacles. Everything was so clean and staff were really friendly and ready to help where needed. Inside there is a restaurant, the play barn and a farm shop. We booked separately into the play barn which again was a two hour slot it was really big and had loads for the kids to do to keep them entertained the full 2 hours. There was alot an outdoor play area attached and a cafe that served food and drink which was reasonably priced. We of course visited the farm shop on our way out to try some cheescake and other sweet treats which were absolutely delicious. It was a but for us to travel but I can say for sure this will be somewhere we return to.
We went for the car show event which was well organised. The farm shop is lovely! Food from the courtyard kitchen is delicious! The farm shop is very reasonably priced, particularly in comparison with others I have been to and I bought some lovely things to take home. Would definitely recommend coming. There is a play barn for the children too which is great! I will definitely come back ☺️
Fantastic place with loads of fun activities for all ages. First tume visit there and absolutely loved it. There are rides for kids, food stalls and proper food markets as well. The pumpkin picking experience is quite fun. Definitely worth a visit and very affordable tickets.
Brocksbushes courtyard Kitchen is a bright, light space, with easy accessibility between tables and no sense that you are being squeezed in. We ordered scones and coffee at the till and both arrived quickly and as ordered. The scones, one pizza - unusual! - and the other cheese were very pleasant and the coffee, Americanos, were hot and tasty. A pleasant visit and a nice, relaxing space to enjoy a coffee. Will visit again. Wonderful staff and service, although John is still a miss.
A good stopping place for a beverage and a snack if taking the A68 to the north or the south. Decent prices and shop with more parking than many shopping malls. One issue is that the toilets, particularly near the end of the day, can get a bit manky.
My friend and I went pumpkin picking today and had the most wonderful day ever! Such good value for money, so many photo ops, so much to do amazing added extras that weren't much more money and the whole place is just amazing! I was worried about food as I'm gluten free but they have so much choice! We were too late for a roast so I panicked with being gluten free but with the amazing help of Sandra she helped me feel at ease in ordering a chicken dipper sarnie which came with a bowl of gravy for dipping and she even got us some roasties as a sorry we missed the roast dinners by a couple of minutes! Thank you so much to all staff (big shout out to Sandra) who were so warm, welcoming and helpful! Will definitely be back time and time again 🙌🏼🎃💛
Visited Brockbushes this week with DD for the seasonal pumpkin picking and must say we were not disappointed. So many pumpkins to choose from and activities for everyone. 🎃 We booked the 12 noon session and later went over to the play barn to wrap up the afternoon. Would highly recommend anyone with kids to go over, as it gave my DD plenty of time to run around, and the grown ups a relaxing sit down for some coffee. Café had gorgeous warm drinks and seasonal treats to choose from. Cannot give anything less than a 5 star. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
We had went as a three for the pumpkin picking, first time going and we found it super reasonable and a really nice morning out. Although it was busy first thing in the morning there was plenty of space and organisation was terrific. As were the wonderful staff!

Lovely place !! Great atmosphere here and staff are amazing! It’s got a big range of great food and drinks ! 100% can recommend here !!! I’ll be back for sure !
Great dog friendly pub in the center of Corbridge. Large sunny beer garden out back. Great value Sunday lunch, £12.50, which included cauliflower cheese & pigs in blankets perfectly cooked meats. Service was perfect and quick.
Really friendly staff, great food ( Sunday roast ) If you're a Newcastle fan, you'll love the decor.
Arrived without a booking on a busy Sunday afternoon in Corbridge but this wasn't a problem. All the staff and manger were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The Sunday carvery was plentiful and tasty at a great price for the offering. Well worth a visit.
Had a Sunday dinner here about a year ago and it was nice. Went this week and the chicken curry and rice was terrible. The chips were also burnt and the only saving grace was that the portion sizes were very small. The atmosphere was also terrible as all that was playing on the TV screens was Who wants to be a millionaire - I think from the 80s with Chris Tarrant!!! Sorry, will not be back.
Sunday lunch for £12.50 and a nice tasty plate full. Friendly staff brought our dog water without asking then some biscuits. Beer garden at back of pub. Would recommend.
Collected 2 Sunday Lunch’s as gift for in laws on Father’s Day. Short wait for the order but staff kept me updated. Dinners (pork) were delicious, hot and plentiful (in fact they struggled to eat it all) Really good value too.
No food available during this visit but bar staff friendly enough,,not too expensive, an overall decent experience

A lovely visit, the sun was shining which added to our sauntering and ambling around for a few hours. It didn't seem very big when we arrived but the space meanders in lots of directions. The tranquil pond is definitely worth sitting by, beautiful views and very peaceful. Lovely volunteers who were more than keen to talk about the history of the place, and the ongoing work. Herbs in abundance, the lemon balm especially and the smells were just gorgeous. Lots of quirky statues and themed areas. No tearoom, or cafe on site. A great visit, thank you.
What a fabulous place so much to see and the amount of time that has gone into the gardens they are lovely. You can read about each individual plant and what it’s good for regarding health and also spiritual.. lovely little shop also where you can buy loose teas and other bits which are made from the plants grown in gardens… wonderful relaxing place lots of sitting areas where you can just sit and enjoy the surroundings.
On a whim, I stepped into Dilston Physic Garden– part herb garden, part living apothecary and just a touch of Alice in Wonderland ✨. A little crowded with ideas at first, but then you stumble upon something magical: a willow circle, hidden corners overflowing with plants and unexpected details at every turn. It's a place where children would happily explore, while adults might wish for a guide or a story to flavour the walk. Symbols and traditions from across the world sit side by side here - diverse, eclectic and somehow coexisting, just like in nature itself 🌿 One glimpse was enough to spark curiosity and a desire to return in another season.
What an unusual find, very close to Corbridge and on a site above The Devil's Water river. A short uphill walk from the car park. Informative, quirky and artistic. Lots about plants used for culinary, medical and spiritual purposes from different countries and traditions. Numerous sculptures including a Spirit Henge and a Tranquility Pond. There's a Minotaur Maze without hedges so its not scary, and unusual Aeolian tubes which emit an eerie sound when the wind blows.A wild and natural feel, rocky paths or paths cut through long grass or narrow earth paths between herb beds. Chess, croquet and a small outdoor play area and musical instruments for children, who need to be closely supervised becauseof the natureof some of the plants. A small reception hut selling a variety of books, natural cosmetics , herbal teas etc. A few drinks and the odd snack available. I can recommend the Spicy Cacao drink. Cost £8 for adults £4 for children.I think small children are free. There is one spacious toilet on the site. Not really accessible for physically disabled people I would think. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
What a delightful place. We met Elaine one of the original founders. We surrendered into the healing magical space with all our senses. Uplifting, rejuvenating, and peaceful. We picked up some herbal remedies and the book Grow Your Own Physic Garden Some parts are a bit shabby… overlook them and connect with the plants and rich energy of this place and allow it to touch your heart and soul. Highly recommended
An incredibly peaceful environment, I could have easily spent hours there however I only stumbled across this garden 40 minutes before it closed. I left there feeling at peace while also considerably more knowledgeable on our planet’s plants and their uses. I also purchased a traditional plant medicine for my hay fever which I’m excited to try out. I’ll be back as soon as I can, and will be recommending it to all of my friends.
We have had a couple of visits, and this time we took the grandchildren who loved the little toy shed. Our 3 year old grandson had the little toy lawnmower all of his visit, and even took it to the little loo cabin with him. No-one can say there isn't enough plant info, as there are labels all over. I bought the lemon balm Calm pulse spray, and found it really helps with my anxiety. Staff and volunteers are helpful too. We will be back.
An absolute gem. Beautiful, quirky, informative - I can't remember when I last enjoyed a garden visit so much, and I went away with my head buzzing with ideas for my own garden. The staff were lovely too: I mentioned that I'd been hoping to find a horse-radish root on the plant stall, but there wasn't one - so they dug one up for me!
