I came all the way from New Zealand to spend one week to see Yellowstone NP. I did book a few horseback rides through that week. And I was so fortunate to do my first ride with Eagle Ridge Ranch. They are so friendly and attentive. Even not having on their schedule any trotting during the rides they let me do my thing as I have experience riding horses. Of course not disappearing from the guide’s sight and staying around the group. It was fun and super chill environment. If you have experience riding horses that’s the one that they will let you fell free and have some fun. Others ranch are very strict on their policies and they have weird rules (like not wearing a cowboy hat) I highly recommend Eagle Ridge Ranch to anyone whether has experience or not. I was so happy riding with them that I’ve booked a second three hours ride before leaving.
My wife and oldest took the ride, so this is related to their experience. We were the last ride of the day. We saw a deer laying down in the trail, but were not lucky enough to see larger game. The “tour” was more of a nose-to-tail “walk”, but I am sure that is fine for most families. Before the ride, the hands provided snacks for the horses so everyone could feed them, which was cool. There is fishing, swimming, and boating (in separate ponds) for those not riding. The water was brisk. There is a place to practice roping (not on a live animal, but still pretty cool) The place is as beautiful as you can imagine. We also got to see the horses wrangled right past our car, which I think the hands did for a bit of fun. Nice place, reasonably priced, and options for everyone. The riding part is somehow separate from the ranch in a way I don’t understand, but whatever. The fifth star is not a function of not seeing game, just that it was a little vanilla. If perfectly cromulent is your thing, consider it 5 stars.
Hands down the best guided horse back riding experience I've ever had. I've been to my fair share of them and this one tops it. The horses are happy and well cared for and well trained. The staff is very patient and experienced. Brick was a most excellent guide and gave us a great ride. The ranch they run this out of is breathtaking and huge. You can stay and enjoy the property for an additional fee. It's $15 per person to use the lake which has boats, a rope swing, and a water slide. The also offer archery and skeet shooting. 10/10 best day ever.
Such an amazing trail ride experience! Eagle ridge ranch is beautiful, well-maintained, and run by an excellent, friendly team. Our guide Josie was fantastic—both incredibly knowledgeable and personable! My group was so impressed by her poise and skill in riding and training a brand new house. Nothing short of a great experience, we would definitely go back!
Fun, friendly staff and guides. We had a group of 5 kids and 6 adults with varying experience riding horses. The staff helped the younger children feel safe and made sure we had a good experience. The scenery was beautiful and Hunter and Hailey were very friendly and helpful guides.
Wonderful experience horseback riding with beautiful views, gentle and well cared for horses and a knowlegable and capable guide! All the horses were very sweet. There were some in our group who had never ridden before and were scared, and the guides and staff at Eagle Ranch were able to put them at ease and they seemed to have a great time. The price for 2 hour ride was well below anything you would have paid near West Yellowstone and the trail was mostly in the woods and shaded. Would definitely recommend!
My four kids had the best day here. We did a two hour guided horse ride. My youngest is 6 and was so excited but very nervous. They did a wonderful job as a team, helping her feel comfortable. After riding, my kids spend hours playing in the little lake. They had lots of different water activities to enjoy.
Thank you very much for a beautiful afternoon!! Very well organized and very attentive guides. The cook out was delicious! Especial shout out to the team who payed attention that one of our group is vegetarian and prepared an extra meal for her. We were grateful to be spend the late afternoon at the eagle ridge ranch! We informed ourselves beforehand that the ride would be walking, which can be boring for the experienced riders but most people are not experienced at all. Hence, all good. Our ride was fun and we saw several deers, very close. Seems that they are not afraid of horses. Amazing!

Beautiful! We saw a mama moose and her twins and then another mama and her baby came in while we were there. It’s so peaceful there. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area.
I haven't gone into the cabin itself, but I was absolutely amazed with the nature. First of all, look under the bridge to see some HUGE trout in crystal clear water! This alone made my day. But, there is an easy trail right behind the bridge that goes from the cabin to the docks with great scenery: clearest river you have ever seen, tall, beautiful trees, and wildlife. The drive is worth it, whereever you start.
Very interesting place to visit - not the typical tourist stuff. From springs to trails to a historic preserved cabin, there is a lot of beauty to see at this stop. Definitely recommended for the sight and the history.
Beautiful area! You can walk or use recreational vehicles on trails. This part of the water is protected, but you can go further down and have access to the water.
Its so much more than just a cabin. There’s beautiful hiking trails that go along the water. there’s beautiful springs with fish in them. We visited multiple times during our trip.
Johnny Sack cabin and Big Springs are absolutely must sees. More often than not I get to enjoy this spot with a moose or two. The fish hang out under the bridge, typically at the upstream side, but also down stream. There's a fish food dispenser so bring some a few quarters to share some grub. Johnny Sack cabin is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day for visitors. Big Springs is open year round
We were not able to access the cabin (closed). But seeing the cabin from the outside and the natural beauty that surrounds it was enough for us! This is an absolutely stunning and serene spot. You can hear the bubbling spring water, feed ducks (there is duck food for sale for 25 cents), see fish, hike, or sit on a bench or one the decked areas near the bridge.
What an idyllic place! The river is crystal-clear and the house is so well-maintained. I do wish they accepted credit card for the souvenirs they sell though.

Super great experience! If you are staying in the area or nearby, this is a MUST. Super funny show and super friendly staff. If you are gluten-free, do not get the chicken it is bread crusted. The prime rib is definitely a good substitute though! Super glad went!
We started going to the show several years back and every year it is gut wrenching funny. They have a couple of options for their meal and I always get the prime rib because something about it just cries out to my primal instincts. It is REALLY good. Often times I think of it as mana from heaven sent down to the starving. Call ahead to reserve your seat, the earlier you call the better. Also while your on the phone with them reserve your cinnamon roll, it's 3 bucks and they're bigger then princess Leia's hair buns, you will not regret it. Pick those up during intermission. Get there around 6 pm to get in line for the grub, eat and enjoy. They provide some ice cream for dessert. The show is a variety show and they pull talent from several national colleges. The same people that are serving your food are also on stage. Also I suspect they are surfing the crowds to look for unsuspecting victims to put on stage, which is hilarious. All in all our evening was a hit and we will be going back again. In 2019 they will be getting a new building so we have that to look forward to as well.
Outstanding! Absolutely incredible! We saw Ramona's High School Musical and I can't tell you the last time I laughed that hard for that long. Not to mention an amazing (and hearty portion) cut of prime rib for dinner! All for a terrific price! Drew announced that they're moving to a new location so next year we will be continuing our tradition and going to see a show! I've been going to Island Park annually for 13 years and this was my first time at the show...don't make the same mistake!!! GO SEE THE SHOW! Don't forget to pick up a fidget spinner! 😂😂😂
This was my first time at Mack’s Inn Playhouse and it didn’t disappoint!!! The food was delicious and the play was very entertaining I loved it!! We will definitely be back!
Amazing talent and great hilarity. The staff/cast did a fantastic job and we truly had a great time. The dinner was good but be prepared to wait in line to eat as it is buffet style. The chairs were mostly comfortable but they cram you together at the tables. You have negative elbow room. Highly recommend the prime rib as the gravy smothered breaded chicken was not that appetizing. All in all, we would definitely go again but are willing to buy extra tickets just for the spare sitting room.
Oh. My. Goodness. My mother in law recommended me and my family go see a show here while we were in town visiting. Best decision we could have made! I don't think we laughed that hard in a long time! The dinner they provided with the show was delicious too! The money was very well spent as we spent quality time together laughing and creating memories! Fun for the whole family! Looking forward to coming back and seeing another!
Great food (especially the prime rib), fantastic entertainment that will have you laughing the entire time. Wonderful cast, each with diverse musical talents. Drew and Julie make you feel like family. This is an excellent place to spend a beautiful Island Park evening. We will definitely be following them to their new location next year just up the road.
7/26/18: My husband, mom and sister and I visited my family in Rexburg. They purchased tickets for us to go see the show with them. IT WAS FANTASTIC! I had the chicken dinner, my husband had the prime rib and it was so delicious and tender. The cookies and cinnamon buns are amazing. The actors are hilarious and so welcoming. I hope this place grows and continues to shine because this is worth it. My husband and I plan on spreading the word about this place and plan on visiting this place every time we come up here now. Keep up the fantastic work!

Such an awesome place! The trails are very well kept even in the winter time. I love to ride my fat bike here and there is over 20 miles of good trail. sunset and sunrises are perfect out here. Just beware that it is a bit colder than whatever temperature. It is in Island Park or surrounding areas.
This place is an amazing nature preserve set right of the idaho 20. It has some nice beginner mountain bike trails that are awesome for all ages. The horse back rides looked fun but they are not open on Sunday when we wanted to come back and ride.
Beautiful place. Have been many times. Great float, great fishing for skilled fly flingers- This place will leave an indelible mark on your soul. Calls you back. Numerous fishing, exploring, animal watching, hiking and other activities available.
Not bad for the parking in the middle of nowhere. It has everything, short and long trails. Lake and a river...
This is our go to state park due to close proximity. We usually stay in a yurt in the winter and do some snow shoeing or cross country skiing. But this summer we backpacked to the Becker yurt that is 1.5 miles from the over night parking. There are two paths that can be taken to the yurt. One path winds through the Forest and another path is flat, through a wide open field, and pretty direct. We were forewarned about mosquitoes being really fierce and regret not taking that warning more serious. We saw some wildlife, beautiful sunset and sunrise, yurt is comfortable and accommodating, the vault toilet not too far away. One thing not at the yurt is a fire pit, so no open fires allowed. We will definitely go again. 2 adults and an 11 year old.
Great area for gentle hiking and wildlife sightings
Beautiful scenery. Crisp mountain air. This is one of the most spectacular places to see.
Took the family horseback riding through here. Beautiful spot. Very peaceful, we saw deer and elk!

I give it five stars because the staff were friendly and helpful. I'd give it one star for all of the Utah and California folks that are ruining this hidden gem. However, Mack's Inn is not at fault for that. I've been coming here for years. Building the Marriott where the kayak shacks once stood, was the beginning of wrecking this gorgeous place! We used to see moose along the river banks. Now we see tons of obnoxious tourists, cabins, cell phone towers, and power lines. At least the river is still beautiful.
KAYAK RENTAL ONLY The only reason it’s getting 2 stars is because of its location. It was next to the incredible SpringHill Suites Island Park. It’s very expensive. My kids got a rash from the life vests. Additionally, the staff have varying levels of experience. When we arrived back at the store, the staff member maybe didn’t realize we were in a tandem kayak? He pulled the kayak up as we were getting out and caught my husbands leg- he almost fell backwards into the water.
We didn't stay at the Inn, but we booked the river raft adventure. It was a lot of fun. We rented 3 rafts and had 23 adults and children. It was a highlight on our trip. We got to see moose and an eagle, had fun on the rope swing, and enjoy beautiful nature. They took care of everything.
Used the rafts for a family river float and it was so easy and convenient and nice to have them provide supplies and a ride so when we got out we'd be by our cars. Highly recommend!
Great customer service. Friendly staff. We started our trip (rented a raft and paddleboard), then a large hailstorm came up and we were forced to hide in the trees within 1/2 mile of starting. We walked back to the launch site and the crew picked us up and took us back. They were so kind and gave a full refund for our trip which they didn’t have to do. We will use them for a future trip!
The river rafting adventure was amazing and so much fun! We went with a large group, so three rafts paddled down the river together, and it was beautiful, we saw a lot of wildlife, including a bald eagle and moose! Highly recommend!
We rented tubes to float a 5 mile stretch of the river, ending at Mack’s. The staff was incredible and the float was something we will remember forever! We are so happy we chose Mack’s to rent from!
We did the canoe rentals and had a great time floating down the river. It was a little cold this day in August for us Florida folks but very nice time.
