We visited today, a Thursday. It was so quiet and peaceful. The gardens are immaculate and so well tended. The cafe served good food, reasonably priced, and the toilets were very clean. We saw the Black eagles and other birds and thoroughly enjoyed our day. Next time, we will come in a Tuesday when it's free for pensioners. A great day. Highly recommended for walking, birding and gentle relaxation.
This has to be one of the best national parks in Gauteng. It's very scenic and has a diverse array of flowers and indigenous trees and shrubs. Awesome place for walks and picnics with friends and family. I was fortunate to visit during the Rose Fest concert and I loved the atmosphere here. Will be visiting again soon :)
Great place to visit to escape from the hustle and busy lifestyle in joburg. People enjoyed themselves; having picnics on the grass areas. Waterfall was breathtaking. We had cheesecake and coffee at the restaurant. I would recommend this place without any reservation.
We followed the paths through the lawns and aloes and then the waterfall just appeared, clean white water dropping into the gorge with that steady, soothing roar. We found a patch of shade, kicked off our shoes, and let the afternoon drift. Every few minutes someone would point out something small: sunbirds in the flowers, dragonflies over the stream, a glimpse of the Verreaux’s eagles circling the cliff. It’s an easy place to slow down. Short trails for a leg-stretch, benches where you actually want to sit, and space for kids to run without feeling crowded. We shared a simple picnic, took a few photos by the falls, and left feeling like we’d been out of the city for hours—calmer, lighter, and already planning the next visit.
Went hiking at Walter Sisulu with my friends and it was amazing! The trail was fun, the views were beautiful, and the whole place felt so peaceful. Definitely a great spot to unwind and enjoy nature!
Very beautiful and clean garden, that is peaceful and tranquil nature. Wheelchair friendly, paved path ways also allow disabled people to be part of nature. Very interesting and variety of bird life. Perfect for family picnic. Thanks for awesome family Sunday.
Lovely place to visit. Although one must take away your own litter as there no bins, sadly there are always people who leave litter behind. There were one or two places amongst the plants that had papers lying there and it hadn’t been removed. Restaurant was okay, our meal wasn’t bad but nothing much to rave about. Overall a great place for a day visit
What an absolutely splendid natural park—a must-visit for nature lovers. Artworks throughout the well-maintained landscape highligh the loving energy of this place, with a majestic waterfall. The grounds are very well maintained and exceptionally beautiful, clean.

Very nice mall. I don't go to many but also very confusing with all the different lanes so information desk are always ready to guide you in the right direction but you get your steps in which is a bonus lol awesome atmosphere for Christmas and the children
Clearwater Mall is consistently well kept. We found everything in one trip, groceries, gifts, and a quick lunch. Signage made it easy to navigate and the bathrooms were clean.
A very beautiful mall with high profile stores, from movies, doughnuts to steak lovers; you can find all here. Well maintained and has friendly stuff you can ask for directions.
Very spacious and beautiful mall. It has more parking spaces. One picknpay ,Swarovski, woolworth dress shop, restaurants (including Thai and Indian), Levi's and etc are inside. I entered into this mall via entrance 2. Bolt and Uber are picking up and dropping in this area. A lot of chain restaurants inside.
What a safe and a clean calming mall love the customer service in all stores they are professional as always as I was at Pick n Pay and their service was awesome Love the food as well 😋 😍
Clearwater Mall is truly the best mall I’ve ever visited! It’s beautifully designed, always spotless, and has the most amazing flow — making it so easy to get from one shop to the next. Shopping here is always a pleasure! 🌟🛍️
Clearwater Mall is a really solid all-round mall – big enough to have almost everything you need, but not so huge that it’s confusing. Once you know the layout, it’s easy to move between the shops, food court, cinema and grocery side without feeling like you’re walking forever. Parking is generally good, there’s plenty of undercover space, and it works just as well for a quick in-and-out grocery run as it does for a full family outing with a movie and a meal. It gets busy on weekends, but it feels lively rather than chaotic.
Best mall around in Joburg. The design of the mall makes complete sense, with a central food court with great restaurants. The selection of shops and clothing shops is excellent aswell, i prefer going there over Fourways mall, it is worth the drive

I often hike at Kloofendal Nature Reserve, it’s an easy, accessible trail that anyone can enjoy, regardless of fitness level. The reserve is well maintained and especially beautiful in summer, with plenty of flowers along the way. There’s security at both the gate and the parking area, so I felt safe, especially since I was hiking with a group. One of the highlights is the lookout point, where you get lovely views of Joburg, Sandton, and Roodepoort. A peaceful and scenic spot for a weekend hike!
Clean and mostly well maintained trails. Even though the trails are not very long, they are a joy to walk and I can see how it would be ideal for sunrises in the early mornings and for a quick hike if you don't have a lot of time. Also, the park is surrounded with fencing and I felt relatively safe there for a venue that has free entrance.
We visited Kloofendal Nature Reserve a few weeks ago and had a great time. The hiking trails are well marked and offer just the right level of challenge — enough to keep things interesting but still very manageable. The views are stunning, and it was so refreshing to be surrounded by nature. The reserve was also really clean and well looked after, which made the experience even better. We spotted a variety of plants and animals along the way, and it was just a great way to spend time outdoors. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a good hike and some fresh air!
Beautiful park. Nice trails. Although we'll maintained the paths could be better marked. The bathrooms unfortunately were unusable at the centre at the main entrance. Would definitely go walking there again.
Beautiful and well kept.. amazing trails. Trails needs to be marked a bit better, but all an all great hike
Very traquilizing and the amazing sounds of the birds and nature surrounding you. Entrance fee is free and picnics are allowed. Group bookings advised.
Free entrance. And it's a good hiking spot if you looking for something that is not too hard. And there's a spot for picnic, it's beautiful.
Very intriguing and challenging Hike quite clean pathways although an addition of disposal Bins could be added to ensure the parks cleanliness and more guide markings could be added to ensure people don't get lost especially the yellow trail and kilometer indicators could be added too. But overall nice place more could be added to enhance the experience.

Stunning venue. Well thought out menu and surrounds. A must for art lovers
Awesome place for art lovers. Lots of mirrors for our content creators....mirror selfie are almost infinite in there. Small and intimate, even has a thrift shop and framing. Would totally recommend it.
This place is absolutely gorgeous. Atmosphere: 10/10 Food: 6/10 (Had the breakie and meh) Drinks: 7/10 too little orange juice in my mimosa Service: 10/10
Sometimes by pure luck, someone mentions or recommends a place when you are in the area. This happened to be the case when we visited Alice Art Gallery as we had time to kill, so we were told to look out for this sign. It was still early morning but they were open along with loadshedding affecting their lovely quaint coffee shop Café d'Art. We ended up spending so much time here. Loving the quirkiness of the signage all over the premises. Taking a slow walk in the fresh crisp air, taking in the sights and sounds. Walking amongst some STUNNING art pieces which I wish I could afford. Then just looking out at the space, they even have a small kiddies area. The deck of the coffee shop also has its own art pieces, and some lovely plants surrounding it. There is also space inside if you want to sit and stare at the paintings. It was a no brainer to sit outside. There were only a few other people sitting around. Drinks, we ordered what didn't require electricity, and to eat of course i ordered the carrot cake along with a scone. Loved the presentation of the scone and its quite big. Although my slice of cake was thin (according to me) it was rich and tasted lovely. Our waitress Precious took her time as she could see we were just enjoying the open space and appreciating the art pieces. We could walk freely between the rooms without someone constantly walking behind you It's really one of those hidden places that you would not normally pay attention to. I'm so glad we were told to make a stop here. Awesome morning. Stunning art/talent 🎨 #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TheFoodMusketeerExplores #TFMAliceArtGallery #TFMCafedart
Bright rooms, friendly staff, and space to stand back from the canvases. We walked the halls, pointed out favourites, and chatted with someone who actually knew the artists. Left feeling lighter and a little more inspired.
Its fantastic..... peaceful and mind soothing. I was lost....... ❤️🌹
Really a good art gallery to visit, they have a huge variety of various artists exhibiting paintings and sculpture. If you want to make it a day to relax they have a children's play area, and a nice coffee shop to have a snack..
Had the worst Quiche ever today! Only one quiche available for our group and I was the unlucky recipient. It was water logged and cold. I returned it to be heated but this did not improve the texture. Was probably taken out of the freezer on receiving the order. Not acceptable at all!!

One of the biggest Malls situated in the West of Johannesburg. Since the recent renovation It now boasts over 5 entrances, 2 floors and ample parking space, free parking that is. The squawky clean eating area is nicely placed at the main entrance between a list of big brand restaurants and a Numetro cinema right across. There’s multiple jewellery stores and boutiques to chose from and supermarkets like Game, Checkers, Woolworths & Pick n Pay. All major South African banks are also here. There is a dedicated taxi rank attached to the Mall building, a Total garage right next to the Mall
This bustling shopping mall boasts an impressive variety of shops, catering to a wide range of needs and tastes. From well-known retailers to unique boutiques, the selection ensures a truly comprehensive and enjoyable shopping experience.
I visited the Checkers house and home store and Justin was the gentleman that helped me. I will definitely go back and ask for him. He was just magnificent
I really enjoy coming to Westgate Shopping Centre. The place is well maintained, has a good selection of shops, and plenty of parking. Security is visible and helpful, and the food court is a nice place to relax. Highly recommend.
During my short visit, I saw a normal mall with many South African departmental stores. Went there again on 28.06.2023, I wasn't impressed, this is like a local shopping centre, it's congested. Maybe it used to be the amongst the best before, but now the standard is very low.
Reviews are showing serious problems there.. I intended to visit but I've changed my mind.. I can't deal with poor hygiene and parking ticket issues..
I was harassed by the security by the parking by saying that I'm not supposed to sit in the car saying that I'll get robbed. They told me I'm an Uber driver yet I showed them I'm not I'm currently working on my laptop they clamped my car and forced me to R250 and they were armed and holding their guns I locked myself in my vehicle and they forced me in their security vehicle to pay the R250 I've never been so scared in my life
This was the 1st time I went to Westgate after the renovations. The mall looks amazing. Loved the water fountain, the os bigger. The food court is also bigger. Has free wifi and tables where u can just take ur laptop, sit there and work. The set up is nice and convenient. I just loved it...

I have been there with my grandkids many times. It is safe, clean and a lot if fun. There is an enclosed park. We usually take a picnic and let the kids run around. The ride tickets are fairly inexpensive. The trains are big enough for adults to ride with the children.
We went here for the first time today 14 September 2025.The trains run every Sunday but the 1st and 3rd Sundays I hear are better,as there is more trains to look at.They accept cards for train rides which are only R10pp which is a bargain, there is no entrance fee at all to pay.You can bring your picknick basket and have a lovely picknick under the awesome trees around. The train rides take between 5-8mins and they go right out into the park nearby. There is also a tunnel you go through which is everyones highlight just before the station. We really enjoyed the time there and would highly recomended going here if you have young kids, great Sunday out instead of sitting at home on a Sunday doing nothing.
This place is truly a special outing for the young and young at heart! Great for kiddies parties, be sure to book and understand the rules. My niece and nephew really enjoyed their party with their friends, round and round on the track. For the train train enthusiasts, check out the steam train schedule.
Visited for the first time. We were nice and early. They're building decent braais and have nice clean camping spots. The rides are only R10 a ticket. They have a tuckshop that sells all sorts of goodies and coffee 😃. The trains are steam, electric and diesel it seems. Great day out if you have kids.
Excellent activity with your kids The Rand Society of Model Engineers in Roodepoort is an excellent way to spend a Sunday morning picnic Every first Sunday of the month all the guys building trains come and show the work , the sundays in between you can go for a training ride , but I suggest going on the first sunday of the month 1. Take along your kids friends 2. Take along a picnic basket 3. There is a small tuck shop so please support them 4. Tickets are R10 per ride 5. Alot of fun 6. I suggest Go early , be there around 10 am , after each train ride have some snacks Excellent memories with your kids
It was disappointing that there were no steam locomotives running, only petrol and electric. In the past there were numerous steam locos which made the visit much more interesting, watching the power of steam to haul 30 people around the nice long track. Nevertheless the kiddies enjoyed it. Neat and clean. Nice safe venue for a picnic and a day out
The train hurtles over a bridge, through trees, past the picnic area (where a lot of hands wave to each other!) to the final stretch, through a tunnel. Volunteers maintain and build these locomotives, and their passion for trains is infectious. The model trains (based on their bigger “real life” cousins) are propelled by coal or diesel, and their trips bring joy to drivers, passengers and onlookers alike. The RSME museum dedicated to stationary engines is open on the first Sunday of every month. RSME members have sourced these engines from municipalities, farms, factories, and even one that was used to power a church organ. Being engineers, they have connected a few up to keep the power on during load shedding. A proper old school experience for kids and adults alike - affordable and enjoyable.
Great fun for the whol family!
