Cannot recommend this tour enough to anyone who would like to see the beautiful sights and amazing animals of the southern coast of Tasmania. Damien was a fantastic guide and cannot be more devoted to the conservation of sea animals and other ocean life that is abundant. He made the tour special for our group and was a consummate professional. We saw a variety of bird life and sea life, but the highlight of our trip was seeing tens of dolphins and seals frolicking in the water. The dolphins were incredible and seemed intrigued by our tour, getting a good look at us as they glided effortlessly through the water in front of our boat. We even saw a few dolphins jumping a few metres into the air. Cannot recommend Wild Ocean Tasmania tour enough, both for the experience we had and the impact people like Damien have in making us more aware of our impact on the environment. Keep up the amazing work Damien and support him by going for this amazing tour!
Me and my partner were unsure on what company to go with as the main companies are pricey and we were worried we might not get to see much wild life especially whales. After some debate and leaving it late in our holiday we come across an advertisement for “ Wild Ocean Tasmania “ ( WAT) with skipper Damo. From our first contact with sorting out what day and window of weather would give us the best experience was all so easy and Damo was fantastic to work with. When we went on our tour with Damo I was amazed with how the boat travelled with the conditions of the ocean giving us a very smooth and dry ride where even our 6 year old was comfortable and loved his time aboard. We were lucky to have a lot of whales in the area and Damo wasted no time setting us up with a nice drift along side the massive creatures and we were so close it felt like we were part of their annual southern migration. Words can’t describe what we experienced ! As for the rest of the trip even without seeing whales it would have still been worth it with the coast line, caves, rock formations, islands and seals and bird life it was truely breathtaking. Damo’s knowledge and the inform he supplied us along the way about what we were seeing was fantastic !. It was heartwarming to see the passion he has for what we were lucky enough for him to share with us and if we could do it with him again we would without hesitation. Wild Ocean Tasmania needs a 6 out of 5 And to Damo thank you ! Was an absolute privilege and worth every cent. To anyone that reads this please support the little guys, it’s more then just the money to them.
A Must-Do Tassie Experience!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you want to experience the real and raw Tassie, this tour is an absolute must! Seeing the island from such a unique perspective was incredibly impressive. We got amazingly close to caves, towering cliffs, and so much wildlife — dolphins, seabirds, seals, and even humpback whales! Damo was fantastic: patient, friendly, and genuinely passionate. He even used extra fuel just to give us a better chance of spotting whales, which we really appreciated. Nothing about this felt like a typical tourist attraction — it was personal, authentic, and full of interesting knowledge about the ocean and the whole environmental cycle. You can really tell that Damo and his partner Susie put their heart into what they do. Supporting them feels meaningful, especially knowing that part of the money goes toward rescuing local wildlife on the island. What an adventure — highly recommended!
Damo, was a superb guide for us and the tour. Throughout the tour, he was super enthusiastic and passionate about the environment and nature. You could feel his passion for his job and he is super knowledgeable. We saw comorants, seals, a couple of albatross and even caught a glimpse of dolphins' fins past our boat. We couldn't have asked for a better guide for this tour. Although we would've liked to spot some whales, but it was something beyond his control. We'll be back again during summer hopefully we get to see more wildlifes.
If you’re checking reviews to decide whether to book this tour or not, BOOK IT RIGHT NOW! 💖 The boat carries maximum 12 passengers, payment is only made when your tour is confirmed the day before. Do be aware that the weather can be hard to predict in the area! We got to see unique landscapes and beautiful marine animals that the land has to offer. The feeling of riding waves on the boat being so close to nature, purely magical. Damo is such a passionate and knowledgeable individual. Not only he shows us the way of nature, he shares his way of life too. Thank you so much for the amazing experience today!
We had a fantastic tour with Damo! The conditions were very ordinary (very cold, decent swell), and Damo offered to pull the pin and refund us after 10 minutes if we couldn't hack the bumpy ride - but we were good to go and we had a blast! The coastline is so dramatic, and Damo's passion for the ocean and local wilderness is inspiring. We were unlucky not to see any whales, but lucky to see dolphins this time of year, and we caught seals on the rocky coastline. We could not recommend this tour highly enough - you won't regret it - even in less than ideal conditions it was awesome!
We booked this tour without any expectations and were treated to An absolute amazing and breathtakingly awesome experience!! Damo was incredibly knowledgeable about the regions geography, marine life and ways of the ocean, with great sights of the cliffs and different types of seals, even watching them hunt a bait ball. Getting close up with the whales and hearing them chuff and vocalise near us was an extremely special moment. Overall, highly highly recommend!!
We had an amazing trip with Damo. He is a dedicated conservationist with a true passion for protecting wildlife in our oceans. There was only 10 of us on our boat tour so it was a intimate experience. Damo took the time to let us cruise gently alongside the whales and watch how majestically they move through the ocean. Not only were we lucky enough to see seals, albatross, oyster catchers and whales but learn about how incredible the ocean is and our duty to protect it. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

Geologic Formations
Rock formation & sightseeing spot where coastal erosion has created striking patterns.
Slide 1 of 8
This remarkable natural rock formation is clearly visible at LOW TIDE. It can be viewed from the car park above, but is best appreciated down at sea level. There is a clear walking path down to the rocks - 10 minutes return. It is possible to walk a loop, but the path is not clearly marked to return to the car park once you have left the beach. Well worth a visit to marvel at this unique formation.
There are a handful of interesting stops to make in the Eaglehawk Neck area for sightseeing including the rare Tessellated Pavements off Pirates Bay Drive. There is a fair sized carpark at this stop and a short walk down before you reach the interesting coastline with interestingly fractured siltstone which looks very much liked tiled floors. The tessellated pavements are formed due to the presence of salt consistent erosion and jointing which over millions of years creating a striking patterns and appearance in the rock layers. The geological occurrence is found in a handful of places on Earth, making it rather unique to see and experience here. Well worth a brief 20 minute stop when sightseeing in the Eaglehawk Neck area.
Spectacular natural rock formation to visit in the Tasman peninsula near Port Arthur. Short walk from the parking area and around 50 stairs down to the natural wonder. There is viewing area from the walk too. There are posters along the track explaining the history of the rock formation. There is a restaurant at the start of walking path, for a meal or drink, lovely views on a clear day.
It truly looks man made. It confounds the mind to see how nature works. There is a sign that explsins the phenomenom. Paved road all the way in, but parking is on gravel. Path to get to lookout is easy. There isn't a sign to tell you what is past the lookout, but it takes you to about 60 steps which lead you to the water which allows you to walk on the tesselated pavement.
Just a short walk to view. Quite a pleasant walk and lots of wildflowers along the way.
Visited in March recently. It is just across the road from the hotel. Came for a walk before dinner and then came again the next morning at sunrise. Just amazing that it is a nature's craftsmanship but so much like manmade tiles.
Must to see the Tessellated Pavement everyone talks about. And wow, it really is pretty amazing! It looks like someone just laid out a massive tile floor on the beach, but it's all natural, witch is wild to think about. We went at low tide, which is definitley the best time to see it all. You can walk right out on the "tiles" and see the little pools of water in them. My kid loved splashing in 'em, even if I was a bit nervous about sliping over (those rocks are wet!). Wear good shoes, seriously. Parking was easy enough to find, and it's only a short walk down to the beach from there. It's a proper must-see if you're on the Tasman Penninsula, especally if you're into geology stuff or just want some cool photos. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because of the slipperiness, but thats nature for ya! Really glad we maid the trip.
As with all of these popular viewpoints it’s best to get there early for good car parking. This is a popular viewpoint as it’s easily accessible to the lookout however to get to the beach you have to negotiate a long staircase. Once on the beach you can then really see how the formations were made with wave power and erosion of a lava layer. Millions of years in the making. So amazing! You will need the tide to be out so check that first. Nice cafe near to the car park but no toilets, there are at the other end of the beach.

Great small fishing town. Blow hole is fantastic to see. The view from fossil bay lookout fantastic. On a rainy day can't see far but still an amazing site. Toilets well looked after and icecream and seafood. Great place to stop. People are lovely
Great natural phenomenon but there isn't really ablow hole, more like waves smashing the rock. But the place is serene and well maintained with toilets. Surrounded by fence to prevent people accessing the platform and endangered themselves, swept by the waves.
Only a short detour off the main road. Nice little spot for a short stop. Whilst he blowhole was somewhat underwhelming - possibly due to the tide ?being low, as the water was not 'blowing' but merely gently surging, the location was very picturesque and worth the side trip.
One of my favourite sites around that area. Very interesting to watch the water splash. The guides are very helpful. There's multiple views for the blowhole and there's another one nearer the toilets.
Really nice place to visit and to have a great time to recharge. Actualy I wish seeing this in high tide, as the water would splashed at the rocks bringing and amazing efect. The Road to there is great, we stopped there in our way back from Port Arthur to Hobart. Great, super reccomend.
Excellent place! You park the car very close to the arch ! The trails are with great views
Visited in March recently. Beautiful views from the lookout. The Blowhole is interesting although the waves were not big enough for a big splash.
Nice Spot to Check Out! Stopped by 336 Blowhole Rd, Eaglehawk Neck, and it was super cool. The Blowhole is easy to get to, heaps of parking, and the views are seriously gorgeous. The waves crashing through the rocks are amazing to watch, and it’s a great place to wander around and take photos. The paths are really easy, so it’s a quick stop without needing to hike. Plus, it’s close to Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen, so it fits perfectly into a day of exploring the peninsula. Definitely worth pulling over for if you’re in the area!

Dusty drive to the bay many lovely hikes beautiful white beaches Tranquility There is a ship wreck to explore ... Just head toward Bivouac Bay gr8 snorkelling spot
Delightful bay and very scenic. With the Cape Huay Trail starting here, there are magnificent sea cliffs to go with the quiet beach and campgrounds.
Nice area to have a swim with no waves. The water is so clear and sand is super white. Great for kids. A few day hikes such as Cape Huoy begin from here. BBQ area also great with tables
Lovely quiet bay nestled at the end of a long dirt road. Only criticism is there is no sign on the main road to Cape Hauy and the bush-walking track. Is it a secret perhaps? Toilets are in the camp ground but there are no obvious signs to where they are located. The sign-posting on the Cape Hauy walk was also very misleading as the true end of the walk is much further away than the 4 hours return walk advertised.
One of the best spot in Tasmania. Think I have a little regret of not staying enough days cause I had a push from my previous host at the moment. It's on Tasman national park. There's habitat of penguins as I heard, but I didn't see any of them.
Wonderful beach with great facilities like toilets, bbq, picnic tables, shelter and there is even a camp ground. I had a dip in this cold water but was really awesome. Too beautiful to don't jump into it!
A long drive in on a rutted unsealed road - but at the end are great NP camping facilities with a beach of soft white sand and good coastal walks in a northerly direction
Beautiful small beach, not too wavy. Clear water and white sands.
