Gallipoli

Gallipoli is a coastal town in Apulia, southern Italy. The historic center, on an island off the mainland, shelters churches like St. Agatha’s Cathedral, with its ornate facade. Nearby, the Church of St. Mary of Purity has a maiolica tiled floor. Gallipoli Castle includes the Rivellino tower, standing apart from the main building. Across the bridge, on the mainland, is the Greek Fountain, dating from the Renaissance.

Punta della Suina is an absolutely fantastic beach, but you need to go when the wind is right — that’s the key! On the right day, it truly feels like a slice of paradise, with crystal-clear water that makes you want to stay in all day. It’s especially beautiful at sunset and is the perfect spot when you want to dedicate an entire day to the sea, relaxing and soaking up the beauty of the place. Definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for a dreamy beach experience.
The place is a paradise but is covered in cigarettes stubs and rubbish. We collected a 70L bags of rubbish in 20minutes. Sad and enraging.
The local restaurant explore the visitors. If you want to stay on the sand you have to pay a lot of money for umbrellas leaving no option. They took all the sand area over leaving a tiny bit outside for free. Ridiculous Exploitation, exploitation and exploitation
Awful business. You'll have to pay 6€ for the parking. Then 30€ for two beds. And you'll all be parked like pigs in a farm. Please avoid going there at all cost, they don't deserve your money and the beach should belong to everybody and be public. Period.
Prices too high for everything. Two uncomfortable beds and umbrella 40 €, very close to each other. Overloaded bar, dirty toilets. No comfort. Fortunately, sea is clean and refreshing.
Favourite beach in Salento! Not too small, not too big :)
A great beach with water so clear that some girls make fake videos from the Maldives for Instagram. 😂
Beautiful beach with crystalline waters, carribian like,a splendor

This church in Gallipoli is truly beautiful peaceful, full of character, and quietly awe inspiring. A memorable place that leaves a lasting impression.
It's okay... I've seen some really crazy ones in Lecce just the other day so it's not really a fair comparison in terms of awe for me, I mean there is like one other thing to see in this whole city so I guess this should be on your list of things to see.
Amazing Basilica even from the outside only. I wasn’t able to visit while it was open, but just viewing the statues and the gracious structure as a whole from the outside only was amazing!
I’ve rarely seen a cathedral with so many paintings, it’s truly impressive! 🎨⛪ Definitely worth a visit, and a great opportunity to learn more about Saint Agatha and her story. I just wish there were more information available in languages other than Italian, to make it more accessible to international visitors 🌍📖
Absolutely magnificent cathedral. Free to enter and very beautiful
Beautiful basilica. We were there on Easter and we saw some Southern-Italian Easter traditions
Beautiful baroque cathedral. Roman-Greek influences also very visible. Beautiful external facade too.
The Sant'Agata Basilica is located in the heart of Gallipoli old town which is on a small island. It is the largest building there packed in tiny streets around, so it's difficult to capture the whole beautiful Baroque facade. The interiors are stunning - pretty dark as a result of lacking sunlight with similarly dark huge paintings on its walls. Terrific marble art work as well. Free entry

Stunning beach. With these crystal blue waters and white sands you’d think you were in the Caribbean! The beach clubs along the coast were also great for those who just want to rent a sun-bed and umbrella.
Ok beach, average. Crowded and dirty sand, water is also not impressive. There are other much better beaches in the area, I highly recommend lido la Rosa dei Venti.
Nice beach, definitely worth visiting. Unfortunately, the organisers of Lido Baia Verde seem determined to milk visitors for every cent — they wanted an extra €10 just to sit at one of their flimsy plastic tables, even after we’d bought a coffee for €3. A shame how this kind of greed is spoiling Italy’s beautiful beaches.
We have traveled across the world and been to many similar places. This is an absolute joke of a beach with ridiculous rules. We came here because the beach looked nice and were looking for a nice private spot. My partner and I chose to get two sunbeds without an umbrella for 30 € because we enjoy staying in the sun. We were given (they didn't let us chose) two sunbeds right in front of the water which kept on rising, which constantly threatened to put our belongings at risk of being drenched. We were told that we were not allowed to move them back even though there was plenty of spare room behind us and many other sunbeds were available. You need to pay to take a shower (two princing points for either hot or cold), and you need to pay an extra 10€ if you want to have a drink on the deck by the beach. We wanted to play a little game of racket by the water, away from everyone (the closest sunbed was at least 15 meters away) and were asked to stop by the personel for no apparent reason. It is not a matter of cost, it is a matter of principle and respect. We felt that this place had none of it.
Beach was half empty and clean. Pros are that you have parking in front of entrance and you have sunbeds and umbrells plus toilets and showers. Cons that everything is paid: Parking 10€ a day (sam as on street) and entrance for 2 (2 sunbeds 1 umbrella) 35€
We are staying in Gallipoli and our hotel suggested this beach…we are GLAD we went! Quite and charming local with beautiful water and views. Very clean and quaint with a relaxing yet upbeat vibe. All ages shared the experience and everyone was smiling. A great way to spend a summer day!
Gorgeous and easily accessible beach with powdery sand, crystal clear, shallow water.
It's a beautiful beach! Really warm and clear water although the waves were quite strong. Don't know if that was just an off day as we only went once. Some rocks but they feel like they've got carpet on so not sharp. Once you get past them it's all good.

Very nice beach for partyyyy and fun! Recommended for drinking and party! Everyday there's a party in summer with live DJ and MC!
This is probably the best place to be on the beaches south of Gallipoli. It has been closed since 2019, so there is no loud music like at the other beach bars. There are only a few people that want to relax in a quiet athmosphere, parking spots right next to it, bars for coffee and food are only 5 min away.
Amazing beach. Must visit. The best beach in that area. Great Party Beach
Clean beach, good musics and parties. But a little bit expensive
Nice place for rich teenagers! But sadly i am not either :(
Lot of fun, but too many people and very expensive
It’s expensive and overcrowded and the service is appalling and in general it’s altogether rather bad
Good beach bar. Often too crowded

I think the establishment took the hint from the reviews about the loud music because that was not our experience, the music only started playing later in the afternoon, but at lunch time we had a very nice seafood meal and there was no music, and the staff were very friendly and helpful even though we did not speak Italian. 🌸 the beach is beautiful turquoise in the early hours and warm and child friendly.
Absolutely disgraceful experience. This place is a complete joke. We arrived to total chaos — the staff were running around like headless chickens. We were told there were no sunbeds available because they were “all reserved,” even though we clearly booked. Out of six people, we got four sunbeds. FOUR. And those were ancient, worn-out pieces of crap. The canopies? Constantly collapsing on our heads like we were in a comedy sketch. They crammed the beds so close together (20cm apart!) just to squeeze more people in — no personal space, no comfort, just pure greed. When we finally decided to eat, we had the misfortune of encountering possibly the most useless service team on Earth. Disorganized, and absolutely clueless. We waited TWO HOURS for food that was a complete insult — undercooked, baby-sized portions, and tasted like it was made by someone who hates life. Then came the cherry on top: the bill. Not only was it three times what it should have been, but the staff barely spoke any English, so trying to explain the issue was like talking to a brick wall. No help, no apology, no clue. Oh, and the toilets? All clogged. No one cared. Not a single person even tried to fix it. Disgusting. Avoid this hellhole at all costs. Save your money, your nerves, and your sanity. Worst beach club experience of my life. 0 stars if I could
Great Beach Bar, Great Experience Perfect September weather, a relaxed atmosphere with no overcrowded beach, and a great beach bar to chill at. The Spaghetti alle Vongole were outstanding – compliments to the chef!
Very cosy beach club in the area. The sea is crystal clear and the service could be improved a bit at the restaurant. All in all a good experience and a good variety for lunch at the restaurant.
Friendly staff, very clean, you can prebook online, sufficient parking - perfect.
Didn't like this beach. It was very steep so the beach beds were at too sharp an angle. They were too close together too. Screaming babies two feet away - no thank you! The food wasn't good either. The spaghetti with clams was very gritty, too salty and no other herbs
The beach is already open on May! Wonderful beach, clean and quiet and the restaurant is very delicious and not expensive. No need to bring any food. In July and August the beach is more active with music and acqua gym in the morning. The best place for young people to enjoy the sunset with a cocktail in your hand.
We had a fantastic time, always very nice service and friendly staff! Even though on some days the beds were booked out, they arranged something for us and made sure we enjoyed our stay to the fullest. Surely one of the nicest beaches in Salento, water is crystal clear with no stones and very clean white sand. Family friendly and great for a stay with kids. The food in the bar was also great and at a good price, nice range of wines and hot and cold platters. We will definitely come back next year!

There was the option to buy ticket to visit the inside, but honestly, didn’t sound too appealing to us. But the imposing view of the outside and the bustling stores and cafes in and around were great. The view from atop, to the little harbor, just amazing.
While I was not able to figure out how to get in (didn’t try very hard!), viewing the castle from outside was wonderful! These endless relics of the past all over Italy just amaze me! The Gallipoli Castle is nestled amongst many shops and restaurants and a world class in beauty of a harbor. Wonderful area to walk around and grab a bite to eat. Fabulous place!
Gallipoli Castle was quite impressive from the outside, and you can get some historical insight inside the castle as well. However, the exhibitions and information provided were a bit limited — it would’ve been even better with more detailed displays. Still, worth a quick visit if you’re in the area.
We visited Gallipoli Castle with our kids late in the evening and were amazed by the impressive spaces, especially when descending into the tower's interior. The panoramic views from the top are stunning. Surprisingly, we had the entire place to ourselves—most likely everyone else was busy dining in the packed streets of Gallipoli :)
Beautiful day to visit "centro storico" and castello. If you go early, you can see the fisherman selling their catch, fun to watch.
A lovely historic part of Gallipoli that I highly recommend visiting! The staff gives you the history of the castle and there are some bonus exhibits including art and history.
It's true, parking here is a bit of a quest, but trust me, the culinary delights awaiting you at the restaurant make it a journey well worth taking!
It's pretty much the knly landmark in Gallipoli, it's nicely made, shops all around the castle, lots of souveniers to buy, i recommend going outside of that spot and up the street that's just right across and there are so many incredible shops, we bought so much goodies. The castle is just a castle, I mean it's big and nice to look at, they provide tours of it, it's just an empty space as are all castles.
