Even though it says it was open, we got there around 2pm to find it closed. We were hungry and searched for other restaurants in the area. O’Neil Caribbean Kitchen popped up and seemed like it had good review, so we stopped by. Food We ordered coconut shrimp for appetizer, it tasted good. It came out with no side dish which was unusual to me. I guess we were supposed to eat it straight out of the little bowl. For entree, the hubs ordered the Rasta Pasta. Can’t remember his protein. I was debating between oxtail and red snapper and figured since I was on the island, seafood should be great, so I went with the red snapper. Hubs Rasta Pasta was amazing. Red snapper on the other hand, was a disaster. I got a whole fish and fish head. Unbelievable. See images posted. The rice was soggy and tasted nasty and the little fish head didn’t taste fresh. I just stopped eating my food and left it there. Service Service was super slow. When we got seated, I requested for a straw. Our waiter never brought up. We requested for napkins twice, he never brought it. It took about an hour for our food to arrive. People that came in after us, including a family of five, left the restaurant before us. The side dishes were very good, but the serving of mashed potatoes with rice was an interesting pairing- I missed the traditional steamed veggies. My tablemates enjoyed their entrees commenting on the flavor profile. We all appreciated the freshness of the salad which was perfectly dressed. THE VALUE: Delicious food at an affordable price in a welcoming atmosphere. The 35-40 minute drive from our resort was well worth it.
