The meal was excellent and the service outstanding! I had the shrimp scampi over grits with a wedge salad. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the grits were true southern grits. Wedge salad was just as excellent. Service was incredibly attentive without imposing. Prices are very reasonable for both the food and wine (wine list was pleasantly surprising and very reasonable. I only wish that I either lived in the area or traveled through the area more often! Exit 98 has brand new hotels from all of the top brands. We stopped here because we were headed for a road trip to Florida. Easy exit and entrance to 95, which is always good. For breakfast, I got the chocolate chip short stack with beyond sausage and eggs (as it comes in a meal), my parents both got the grandma breakfast. Server was very pleasant. Oh, and restrooms located in the back of the store were clean. Food arrived in a prompt manner, and was enjoyed. we left a cash tip, and paid with a credit card. Store also had cute spongebob and scooby stuff! Would definitely come again!

It’s a bright little standalone building just a couple of turns off I-95 at exit 96 onto Old Number Six Highway (SC-6), on Bass Dr at the end of Britain St. There’s enough parking to the side and around back. There’s outdoor seating on the north side, but it was a little chilly for that in Dec (2024). With a counter up front and tables to the left, there’s plenty of seating for the size of the place. The hostess was welcoming and attentive, and the other guests were also friendly to us travelers. We came here for the hot fresh crispy fried whole bone-in catfish, and it was perfectly cooked in a simple light cornmeal salt and pepper breading just like we always had growing up. They also make a savory catfish stew in a rich tomato broth over rice. We were so full, but we did save just enough room for their fresh hot cobbler to finish. Get off that wearisome highway and enjoy some good regular comfort food in a bright place with nice people.

The food and service were exceptional. It's challenging to cook scallops well and make white fish and shrimp interesting, but they pulled it off! Also, the hushpuppies with butter herb sauce were great—I almost ordered more for dessert but chose the homemade peach cobbler instead, which I had to eat slowly so it would last longer. Our server, Gregory, was fantastic—knowledgeable, personable, and attentive when you needed him, yet gave us space to enjoy our meal. The old-time music gave the place an upscale, nostalgic feel. We like to eat at locally owned places and when we asked him for recommendations this was one of 4, all which were great but this is by far the best. The outside has this big blank white wall and the lights and sign are just a bit odd. I am so glad we went in, the food was great, the bartender greeted us and told us we could sit anywhere so we sat in the room with the DJ. It was a slow Tuesday night, we had the place to ourselves. The food was just wonderful, and reasonably priced, including dessert. Our waitress, Destiny was just so nice. She actually sat down and chatted with us after dinner, this would never happen up here unless you were a regular. We told her how we almost did not come in because of the outside, so glad we did. We are hoping to own a property in the area soon and this will be our go to spot.
