The menu is short but I think it helps for the food to arrive really quickly. And all dishes are tasty, specifically their dumplings. If there is one criteria… the chairs or benches are not the most comfortable ones and once the meal is done, one is ready to leave. But it’s a busy restaurant and it might be this way on purpose. Giselle the owner/host was really pleasant and hands on. Food was good all round, some dishes exceptional, others good. I dined with some friends so got to sample quite a lot as can be seen. Wasn’t disappointed opted for the set menu for 2 which was spring rolls, chicken & sweetcorn soup, lemon chicken, beef and broccoli in oyster sauce with egg fried rice and ice cream to finish. Soup was delicious and piping hot as was all the food. Crispy packed (3) spring rolls lush. Lemon chicken was 2 good sized crispy breasts and the beef melted in your mouth with crunchy vegetables, large bowl of egg fried rice we couldn’t finish and then forced down ice cream as we were both stuffed! A couple of ciders and a great service concluded our evening. Don’t be put off by the decor as it was certainly not a match to the food. Don’t miss out on a lovely dinner. Embarrassing that it took so long. We had three starters - lamb buns, chicken and ginger fried potstickers and traditional salmon roses. The staff is incredibly friendly. The restaurant is clean but not the type of atmosphere I would I enjoy as I prefer a more vibrant atmosphere however could be to the like of someone else just not my preference. The food was ok. The only negative point there is when you opt for the Sharing medley is that, all the dumplings are mixed, not labeled or separated so you have to have a keen sense of taste to identify what you ordered which can be troublesome because that's how my order was mixed up. I would also HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE WONTON SOUP. This dish was by far my favorite, stick with any pork option, the chicken option doesn't hold up as well. I had the Pork & spring onion. It was extremely tasty. I would not recommend anything with Coriander or celery in the dumplings, in my opinion I've found that they overpower the meat. Also the pork bao buns are okay, the filling has a nutty taste, very different from what I'm used to but interesting nonetheless 6/10. Other points to note: 1. There is no parking lot nearby, only street parking. 2. They have a beautiful outdoor area in the back. 3. They have a freezer filled with their frozen dumplings you can buy and make at home. 4. One of the reasons I love coming here is because of the intimate feel and decor. Duck was on the menu and some other new items. Most of the new items were not available but this rice paper roll was delicious. The dumplings are always consistent and tasty but it really fell flat with the duck and especially the pork. The pork was quite bad. As you can see in the picture, the pork belly isn’t cooked properly. It honestly tasted like cold fat. This used to be our favourite dish so we were disappointed. We got a duck wing and the couple next to us got the duck leg which is the cut you would usually serve. Don’t know if you can charge the same price when someone gets the wing and another gets the leg, two completely different cuts. I understand wastage is a factor but the wing was unpleasant. Just wasn’t great and would obviously have preferred the duck leg which I’m sure would be more tasty. Don’t think we’ll be back again and we used to go every second month 👎🏼

I love the design of the place, it has this calm and comfortable atmosphere. They provide free wifi and they an abundance of space. There are even tables upstairs for freelancers or friends to hang out for long periods of time. The bubble tea was really good and the amount of tea you are provided is definitely value for money. The mochi was so good and fluffy. I actually would buy it again next time. The staff were kind and very patience. Even though I dined in, they were willing to provide it in a to go cup since I wanted the logo. Though they have really stunning glass mugs. I would definitely go back, though I wish they had a location closer to the northern suburbs. At least the drive is lovely and the location of the 4Tea is beautiful. I highly recommend their Salmon Platter No.10 for sharing between a few and their Salmon Platter No.6 for one to two people, it is well priced for the amount and the quality. My family and I also enjoy their chicken chow mein and the beef fried rice, it is a very nice large portion to share. The chow mein has a lot of vegetables which we really enjoy and their beef fried rice is a very good balance of beef and rice. We have only had the dumplings a few times and I will admit that eating it while dinning in while they are extremely fresh has been the best experience but it is still very good from delivery as well. I enjoy their sweet and sour pork, it can sometimes be visibly different, it is typically light in colour and sometimes comes a bit darker in colour but I cannot complain about the flavour. In terms of pricing I believe that it is reasonably priced even after their price increase as it is quality food so I personally do not mind paying, the only time I found something to be expensive is ordering drinks while dinning in which can be expected from any dine-in place. It can start to add up as you add things to your order but I have never felt as if I have been overcharged or that it is unreasonable. Parking is easy and paved roads to get to restarant which makes ir ideal for all vehicles, some wine farms have gravel roads . This is on durbanville hills wine estate , so you could do wine tasting and then a lovely meal. Good is well priced and quality . We had the line fish which was kingklip on the day , springbok steak which was perfectly prepared, pork belly and normal beef steak . They do not serve hard liquor though which was a bit disappointing for the group as the men wanted some brandy or whisky. Every main dish is accompanied by a glass of wine paired best with the meal and included in the price already which was a very nice touch . Dessert was also great , I had something with peanut butter which was not overpowering. They serve a complimentary glass of wine with each course, but this was not correctly communicated to us, so we ended up with far too much wine. Sadly the experience was not what we had hoped for, and having seen some of the recent reviews on Trip Advisor it appears that the restaurant has changed hands in the last few months, with different management and many of the old staff leaving. This may go some way to explaining why the customer service we received and the food we were given was so substandard. Kitima is a huge restaurant and we therefore fully appreciate that food cannot be perfect every time. However, the way this can be dealt with (extremely easily) is by adapting a 'customer is always right' approach. We experienced the complete opposite... I requested 'medium' tom yam, which came out so hot that I literally could not eat a mouthful. The duck I was given was dry and tough, and the white meat was pure fat. When I tried to tell the waiter this, in as polite a manner as possible, I was told that the duck would be recooked in a way that I would prefer. The food was then taken away, we waited about 5 minutes, and the same plate was then re placed in front of me, with the explanation that the chef was refusing to recook the food. In spite of us saying that that is not an acceptable response, and that we were now having to eat cold food, this was met with a solid smile from the waiter, but absolutely zero attempt to address or rectify the issue. We decided not to add gratuity to the bill but to give a cash tip to our waiter, who despite being inept, tried his best. After having paid the bill and tipped the waiter, we were then presented a second bill for two glasses of wine which had been missed off, adding insult to injury with no kind of olive branch being extended. The food overall was disappointing, the atmosphere stark and corporate, but most disappointing of all, the service was the worst we have experienced in Cape Town.

On the second night his gran had arrived in South Africa for the first time and decided to cook for everyone. We had booked an early dinner, mid week, straight after work. There were only two other couples when we arrived, but by 9 pm the restaurant was about half full. The space is really exotic! I discovered a new white wine, which I have added to my list of all-time favorites! We chose to order from the a la carte menu instead of the set menu. The food was so beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. Due to my sweet tooth, I'd probably say dessert was my favorite dish - but bar that, I'd highly recommend the Prawn toast and Duck Pancake. The star of the show is chef Jacky Yu, whose skills were honed in restaurants across Asia. His expert use of the chanzi (wok spatula), often heard through the kitchen door, brings an added vocal element to the dining experience. So, what else is on the menu at Tao Yuan? Besides an extensive list of appetizers, dim sum, soups and dumplings, they offer plenty for vegetarians and vegans, including cucumber salad, spicy seaweed, and a brilliant brinjal hotpot. That one star is an actual thought out review and not just wanting to post the lowest score here. You can stand at the deli, bakery or butchery counter for quite long without anyone helping. In a thousand years I would never have found Yummy Dim Sum, and yet it's one of those glorious hidden gems. Hidden away (not by accident) behind a metal gate, in an industrial area of Cape Town lies a truly unique DimSum experience. This family run restaurant (the Maitre D' is ~9 years old and adorable) has only 3 or 4 tables, but an extensive menu of dumplings and congees made fresh just a few meters from your plate. We ordered two pork ramens and the pork dumplings but the soy sauce was too vingery and the noodles were under cooked and there were literally only three tiny pieces of meat in the ramen. The food looks presentable and the quality is always consistently good.
