Specialty Museums
The Silesian Museum, located in Katowice, Poland, is a unique combination of art and industry housed in a former coal-mining site. The museum's collection is presented through underground galleries that are 12-16 meters below the surface. The museum is part of the International Congress Centre, which also includes the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra's auditorium.
One of my favourite museums to visit. Great selection of art- especially that representative of local vibes. Interesting exhibitions both temporary and permanent . I love the buildings architecture. I already miss the cafeteria and most amazing matcha latte there😋

This is a collection of buildings with a wide variety of exhibits. There are large collections of modern art on display in several of them. In the main building there are some extremely impressive exhibits, taking you through the history of Silesia, it's people and it's culture. There is one building which retains the original steam powered winding wheel, which unfortunately no longer seems to work. The huge shaft winding tower was unfortunately closed for rehabilitation when we visited (August 2025) - it would be a great viewing platform if it was open. A lot of the open spaces were closed of for repairs, but it still a nice area to walk around. Definitely worth a visit for the impressive history exhibits, or if you like modern art.
Martin E — Google review
Very modern museum with a lot of interesting facts about the history of Silesia. The design of the indoor area is pretty cool. Whilest my visit the entry was free, but I think, it was only at this day. Unfortunately you can't visit the exhibition in the area on the outside at the moment.
Jakob T — Google review
Worth a visit. A modern art museum which is accessible to most tastes and preferences coupled to a very detailed and immersive presentation of the history of Silesia. Located in a large park with old mining buildings. Most of the park was closed due to construction works, at the time of my visit.
Haris G — Google review
Amazing museum with very cheap tickets. There are many exhibitions in different buildings so there is a lot to see and at least 2 hours to spend. The best was the history of Silesia. Everything is labeled in PL/DE/ENG 👍 Definitely worth a visit

The Silesian Museum in Katowice is impressive not only for its striking underground architecture but also for its outstanding art collections. The galleries of Polish painting from the 19th and 20th centuries are beautifully curated, showing both classics and modern works. It’s a perfect place for anyone who loves art and history.
Olesya Z — Google review
We visited on Friday, there was no queue. The lady on reception spoke excellent English. I've never been through metal detectors going into a place like this before. It was very different to what we were expecting. The site is an old mine that has been turned into an art house. There is a section of the site dedicated to the first and second world wars. The gallery spaces are large and the art fits in the spaces comfortably. There is a small shop on site with the usual range of souvenirs and snacks.

Nikiszowiec is a historic redbrick housing estate in Katowice, built between 1908 and 1918 for mine workers. It was designed to be self-sufficient, providing all necessary facilities such as shops, schools, inns, church, laundries, and bread-baking ovens. Arenas & Stadiums
Arena Spodek, often likened to a UFO due to its flying saucer-shaped design, is a renowned indoor arena in Katowice. Situated near Mariacka Street and the Silesian Museum, it stands out as one of the city's most distinctive spaces with its futuristic and minimalist vibe. Once an operational coal mine, it now hosts various cultural and sporting events, including rock concerts and basketball games.
I was in GYC conference here…Amazing place,and incredibly beautiful…

Attended the 2025 counterstrike 2 tournament, upon entering the stadium there was a long line and once you were allowed inside it was hell, everyone was pushing and pulling... but this is because obviously everyone wants the best seat, in the middle. Other than that, it was good. Nice to experience once.
Harry B — Google review
Great arena in Katowice! I was here for EuroBasket 2025 and had an excellent experience. The venue is spacious and from every seat you get a perfect view of the court. The staff and people around were very helpful, which made it easy to get around as a tourist. There’s also a good variety of food, though prices are on the higher side. Overall, a really good experience
Michael S — Google review
Visited for IEM Katowice 2024, so for 3 days straight. The arena was nice and clean with plenty of cloakrooms (almost no wait at the end of the event, fantastic). Toilets were kept clean. Beer on the pricier side, but really that is a standard in these types of arenas. I also have to commend the beatiful architecture from the outside. One of the prettiest arenas I saw.
Ondřej K — Google review
You can tell this place is old, but it's still a great venue for basketball matches.

Nature & Parks
Park
Kosciuszko Park, named after a Polish national hero, has been an urban park since 1925 and is the most convenient green space in the center of Katowice. It has expanded from six hectares at its inauguration to over 72 hectares today. The park features an English landscape with various tree species, formal flowerbeds, an avenue of roses, and pergolas.
Nice park, especially for Parkrun, all paved so good if it has been raining and is muddy.

A beautiful part to visit, relax and commune with nature. It’s clean, paved trails and beautiful flowers. I highly recommend this place for anyone who visits Katowice, Poland.

A lovely, peaceful place to take a walk. Has some very interesting features and well kept gardens with some vibrant flowers, along with some interesting sculptures. Well worth a look

Absolutely beautiful park! I went for a run around it recommended by a polish friend of mine while visiting Katowice here! It did not disappoint I'll tell ya that!

Lots of shade, bike paths, tame pigeons, automatic bird feeder, fish, ducks and awesome playground. What else do children need!? The fountain of original design and flowerbeds give the special charm to the park. There is also a cafe. I would like more comfortable toilets.

Beautiful big park, lots of walking paths, small surprises to find, ponds and colourfull bushes, flower bed. Super close to centrum with tram 6-7 minutes

Bistro
Cafe Byfyj is a charming restaurant and cafe located in Nikiszowiec, a historic district of Katowice with strong ties to the industrial history of Silesia. The bistro offers a delightful mix of traditional Silesian cuisine and international flavors, making it a favorite spot for breakfast before exploring the miners' district. The cafe's name is derived from the 'byfyj,' a staple piece of furniture in Silesian homes, which adds to its retro charm.
I love this place and I enjoy visiting it every time I’m in Katowice. The food is nice, but the pastries are the best! You have to try their donuts ♥️ Decor is wonderful. I recommend to have a walk in Nikiszowiec - it’s worth it.

Jagodzianka is super tasty! Breakfast portions are very big.A big variety of coffee drinks.Be ready to wait more than the hour in prime time(mornings on weekends). But it is a lovely place in the middle of the historical center of the city. We will definitely come back!

We had wonderful and memorable brunch there. Suitable for families with little children. It’s one of the the most iconic districts of Upper Silesia conurbation so make sure to visit it whenever in Katowice 😌
Artur K — Google review
The pizza was delicious. It is served with a bottle of olive oil, and you can pick more toppings than there are normally in this kind of pizza. I also got a Sweet Hot Chocotate Chili Shot. Can't judge because I don't feel spicy taste in food, but it was fabulous because of the sweet taste. And I also love chocolate 😋

Thank you for the delicious food, pleasant service and cozy details in the interior 🌞 P. S. Delicious coffee. Quality products on the breakfast menu. P. P. S. A separate star for the baked goods!🙌🏻🥐🥨

Fine food. Free baby diapers and powder in baby station, but no baby utensil or plates (priorities off?). Small (for Poland) selection of beer, sadly. Service is friendly, but clearly busy to a point they need to hire another person; they forgot about one of our drinks (coffee), and after requesting a check we had to wait 5 minutes.

Restaurant
Żurownia is a contemporary restaurant in Katowice, Poland, known for its gourmet take on traditional Silesian dishes. The industrial-style destination offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere, making it a great place to sample local specialties and vegetarian-friendly options. Visitors have praised the superb mushroom and potato soup, excellent potato dish with onions, mushrooms and bacon, as well as the delightful pancakes with fruity compote.
Lovely restaurant. We were lucky to just go in and be seated straight away. Good selection of local, traditional food. Portions are big! Lovely service from friendly team. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Katowice - even somebody from the region.

There was a line of people waiting for place in restaurant, took about 30 minutes to enter. Service is great, very tasty traditional food and good prices. Place worth visiting!
Ivan P — Google review
On August 19th, 2025, I searched for Polish food and this restaurant had the highest ratings. I went with high expectations of having authentic Polish food. I ordered the most expensive main dish on the menu. Once it arrived, I noticed the steam was strange. When I started eating the meat, I had no doubt it was microwaved. Some parts were cold while other patches were too hot, even burning my mouth in that uneven microwave way. Freshly cooked hot food is never like that. The potatoes also didn’t seem to be made from scratch; they looked like they came from a box and were just boiled. The only reason I am giving this review 2 stars is because the waitress was genuinely caring and kind, and I truly appreciate that.
Sam F — Google review
The food follows exactly the traditional polish food. The staff was nice and really helpful. I recommend eating in this restaurant if you are looking specifically for local polish cuisine.
Claudiu R — Google review
No complaints, simply good food! Friendly service and the „racuchy” really good for desert

Great traditional food, nice location, very friendly staff. They have a lot of vegetarian options. Also the portions were very big.

Restaurant
Śląska Prohibicja, located in the historic Nikiszowiec district of Katowice, is a stylish restaurant with a terrace and an airy vibe. Since its opening in 2017, this restaurant has been offering traditional Silesian dishes with a creative twist. Chef Szymon Bracik focuses on classic Silesian cuisine such as beef roulade, sour soup with white sausage, and roast pork knuckle served with panch kraut.
Great place to be. Excellent food, service, decorating. All was perfect, I'll be back! And it's a (bloody) French guy saying this 😂😂😂
Chris — Google review
The food wasn’t quite to my taste, but we tried all the desserts and enjoyed them. The place is nice and comfortable. A reservation is required.
Fg — Google review
First and foremost the service is fantastic! The food is ok but nothing to rave about or something to look forward to. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant is very spacious. From the foods I had the beef tartare was my favorite, the pierogi with duck were also good, but the śląski klasyk was just ok, the kluski just bland. For desert I’ve had better beza’s. When in Katowice this place is a try for sure but not the best I had. On the pricier side as well.
Atomic V — Google review
The food at Śląska Prohibicja is absolutely delicious - I had the best chicken broth of my life there. The prices aren’t low but they are completely fair considering the quality of the dishes, which is outstanding. The restaurant is located in the historic Nikiszowiec district, inside a beautiful red-brick building. The interior is very stylish and it makes a truly unique and atmospheric place. Definitely worth to check out.
Adrian M — Google review
This restaurant is famous for being converted from a former canteen used by coal miners at the mine. I can't say the food is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is nice, but it's not very good value for money considering the price.
Bee K — Google review
Wonderful meal, best I’ve had in my trip to Katowice. Cold beetroot soup was perfect for a hot day, whilst the chicken with truffle and asparagus was spot on. Good wines by the glass and excellent friendly service. Definitely worth a trip to Nikiszowiec to eat here.

All in all, we enjoyed our lunch as much as we could by all the aspects possible. Very much recommend this place to anyone. I have found this place by an accident but let me tell you it was happy little accident. At first even approaching this place felt amazing as the surroundings are simply beautiful. Then the entire process from entering, being greeted and seated was very warm and welcoming. We were immediately offered menus in English and our servers were very easy to talk to. They made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our lunch to the fullest. I can only recommend this place from every single perspective. The menus were very informative and also we were introduced to the composition of our meals by our server. The food tasted amazing, from the cold soup (it was supposed to be a cold soup) that was perfectly balanced with different tastes. To the main course as well as the desert, that was a weekend speciality and the cake was surprisingly cut beside our table. Only negative thing I could mention was that our drinks were overly sweet, but that is rather a matter of preference and also our server was very eager to react to our request and refill the drink with a bit more water. The inside while I don't have any photos to support that, the design was very clean, cozy and simply calming. It was nicely decorated with books all over the place what gave it a very rustic feeling.
Peter H — Google review
The location is beautiful and quaint, in a former mining village. The interior is beautiful and the outside is equally pleasant. The garden is beautifully kept. The dishes are delicious, especially the tartare, which showcases the chef's technical skill. It's truly a delicious dish, I think it's the best tartare I've ever tasted, and I'm not a fan of tartare. But if I return, I'll definitely be back for it, and I'll be back specifically for their tartare because it's truly exceptional. The foie gras is also very good, and the dessert is also very unique. Overall, everything was delicious, and even the rose lemonade was delicious. We had a great time, thanks in large part to Nazar's advice, who was very attentive to us. He gave us perfect advice, and we thank him again for the welcome he gave us in this delightful restaurant. EDIT We returned for a second visit and confirmed the quality of the food. This time we tried, obviously, the tartare, but also the delicious fish and chips, as pictured, really, really good. As always, Nazar was super attentive and gave us great advice.

Cafe
Synergia is a popular choice for a traditional breakfast and great coffee in Katowice, with two locations on either side of the railway station. The cafe offers a daily lunch menu and serves excellent specialty coffee, making it an ideal spot for a delicious meal or a quick caffeine fix. Visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, especially if they want to study while enjoying their food and drinks.
Really lovely coffee and excellent breakfast
Martin W — Google review
I hoped I can finally try some decent specialty coffee in Katowice but again a disappointment. The natural Costa Rica was clearly over-extracted. The place is very busy but people are eating smelly meats with sauces next to you and you have a feeling of sitting in a can of sardines. If you visit Katowice, bring your beans, grinder and coffee maker with you. If you don’t want to die from bitterness and disappointment
Dima T — Google review
What happened? This place is not what it was. The sausage is beef now? and texture of vegan one. Egg is low quality and bacon was pure fat. Will I be returning, no!
Felix R — Google review
Nicely located, good atmosphere and interior, amazing staff but the food was “only” good looking … the slice of dry bread of my sandwich was way to thick, the egg salad with no taste, the pancake was much too heavy & dry, not juicy or fluffy, the clotted cream was simple curd cheese … coffee with a real good taste but sorrily not really hot.
Gerd L — Google review
Great Delicious plates full of surprising flavours!! I sustain my review from 4 years ago - the food is still amazing and portions are quite large and filling. The only critique I have is the servjce could have been smoother in terms of items arriving to our table. But I personally didnt mind it that much. Again and again, eating there is always a delight and an incredible pleasure. Chef is lovely and staff is knowledgeable, attentive and fun to talk to. I usually wait long, but it's worth it!
Aleksandra L — Google review
Very good breakfast for a very reasonable price. We got here and were amazed by all the vegan options. Everything we ordered tasted amazing and next time we're close by, we will most likely eat here again. Overall a very pleasant experience! Thanks for having us :-)
Give H — Google review
I confess my initial impressions where unfavorable, another restaurant trying to look edgy resulting in small tables and uncomfortable seats. However the service was good, the food reasonably price, very well flavoured and cooked albeit the eggs overcooked for my personal preference. The menu contained a good selection of options and great colour on the food meaning visually it was very appealing. The ambience was good, nice and relaxed vibe perfect for a late Sunday breakfast after being out the night before.
Stevey C — Google review
I don’t have any particular favourite place in Katowice, I chose where I want to have my coffee based of how hungry I am and what I want to do. If I want to study in peace (but not be dead alone in the cafe) I chose this one. There are some tables (by the windows) that are far from the more crowded area and I can have my peace most of the time. It’s rarely noisy, maybe on weekends. I have tried to go there on Saturday and it was too crowded but during the week it’s always fine. I like the menu of the day idea. I’ve been going there regularly for the past three years and tried many different dishes and have been pretty amazed by most of them. The only drawback is that if you get to like a particular dish you won’t be able to eat it there ever again (unless you’re very lucky, sometimes they repeat them). Also, their Latte is my favourite in Katowice.

Cafe Kattowitz is a charming and elegant establishment with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The interior design exudes taste, featuring claret, gold, dark wood, and decorative wallpaper. The cozy sidewalk cafe offers a quaint European vibe where patrons can enjoy reading or chatting. The rustic interiors create a nostalgic ambiance while the staff is known for being very friendly and accommodating. Despite some delays in serving food, the dishes such as pappardelle chicken pasta are described as delicious with earthy flavors.
Exceptional! The decor is amazing, like in an old cafe. I took the thick hot chocolate with espresso and sweet cream and it was delicious! They also serve dinners, we didn’t try, but it looked tasty!

Absolutely amazing 🤗 This place is a gem and the food was simply excellent, one of the best Żurek soup I ever tasted and the regional beef dish was outstanding. From the moment you walk in it feels like that place was frozen in time, beautiful decor and the only thing which was a little bit disappointing was some waiting staff dress code, trainers, t-shirts and buggy jeans were simply a bit of a let down. It would be nice to have it matched with this place vibe, otherwise only high scores. Highly recommended ❤️

Romantic, Cozy, Warm, Elegant are some of the words you can use to describe this place. Traditional and modern food on the menu, and with a decent selection of drinks. I had duck, and it was cooked very well (pulled style). The serving staff was helpful and guided me to make the right choices. Seating is for couples as well as can accommodate large groups. Highly recommended place.

Incredible restaurant with great Silesian food and an amazing feel. Its interior is based on the best Vienna cafes. We had an amazing experience here eating the classics of the Silesian cuisine - Kluski Śląskie i Rolada z Modro Kapusta. Very tasty dish that comes with a supplelemntary soup. The chicken soup (rosół) was very flavorful and you could taste it was made with a couple of different meats (super good!). The only minus was that they mixed the order of the food and the 2nd dish (Kluski) came before the 1st (soup). Regardless of this, it's really recommended: 9/10 or 10/10

The food is very good, but oh boy - you have to wait for it! We were one of two tables taken, and it still was very long to be served. Apparently there are o ly four burners in the kitchen, and a Wiener schnitzel takes two, LOL. The waiter was very kind and supportive, also decent English. Nevertheless it took a good while even to get our drinks.

A gem of Katowice located near Rynek. Its decor and atmosphere; as well as service is exceptional. I cannot say enough about the desserts, cocktails service, and decor. The cafe has been here since the 1960s and at every turn a small or large artifact from times past is there to admire.
