Castles
Nestled in the charming city of Teramo, Castello Della Monica stands as a testament to artistic ambition and historical significance. Constructed between 1889 and 1917 by painter Gennaro Della Monica, this neo-medieval castle showcases an intriguing asymmetrical design that captivates visitors. After years of neglect, it has recently reopened its doors following extensive restoration efforts, allowing travelers to explore its beautifully adorned interiors filled with frescoes painted by the artist himself.
Castello della Monica is a 20th Century (!) private residence of artist Gennaro della Monica who had planned to create a whole town in medieval style. It's just opened its doors again after being closed for 40 years and then restored (the pandemic and a recent earthquake didnt help either) You can wander through the building to see some of the frescoes of Teramo that the artist had lovingly painted himself... as well as infusing the building with his own personal image throughout.

(Translated by Google) A place rediscovered by the City of Teramo only in recent years, after decades of abandonment. For those who visit the city, this castle, built in the neo-medieval village of Gennaro Della Monica (between the 19th and 20th centuries), is certainly one of the places to visit. From the first months of 2024 it will be closed for restoration work on the top two floors. We will have the chance to discover new frescoes, statues and much more.

(Translated by Google) A very suggestive place near the historic center of Teramo. Free entry and without reservation. Castello Della Monica is certainly a gem not to be missed, it's a shame that some rooms are a little bare. A permanent exhibition would be nice to make the visit even more pleasant. Unfortunately, dogs are only allowed inside the building if held.

(Translated by Google) Finally the Castle is open to the public! The visit is free and the guys who welcome you at the entrance are very knowledgeable. The visit is free and the castle is open every day. For the opening times you can consult the website of the municipality of Teramo. Unfortunately, not much remains of the original project created by the Teramo architect and painter of Neapolitan origins Gennaro Della Monica, but the details of the frescoes and other elements of the interior stimulate the imagination. I hope that the work and research continues and the municipality manages to organize the exhibition dedicated to the painter inside the castle.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful palace-castle of an artist from Teramo, built according to the trends of the late 19th and early 20th century, similar to other beautiful buildings of the time, managed by the municipality and with free admission. Adjacent to the central Piazza Garibaldi. The exterior is very beautiful and well preserved, there is some work in progress. The interior has been conservatively restored, leaving signs of time. It is a pity that the house has been managed by the municipality for about 40 years but has only recently been made available to the public. The house has been stripped of all internal furniture, leaving only traces of the few paintings that remain visible. It would be nice if it were fully recovered and it would be better to charge admission even with a symbolic fee of a few €2-3 to be able to support part of the maintenance. There is no parking nearby, except parking in the square or in Viale dei Tigli or in the same parking lots used for those who take a tour of the center. Beautiful, worth a visit!

A stone's throw from home, for free, you immerse yourself in an ancient world made of faded colors, bursting statues, very kind and trained staff and a garden that offers a truly surprising and evocative castle façade. I highly recommend a visit, at least once, for a total immersion in this magical place.

Chiesa di San Domenico is a stunning 14th-century church with remarkable architecture and an array of exquisite artwork. The church features a notable piece depicting the Virgin with Child. Its construction began in 1317, and it includes a convent complex accessed through a captivating cloister. The interior boasts paintings from the 1400s portraying the life of San Domenico, along with a valuable organ.
(Translated by Google) The Aprutina Church of San Domenico was built starting from 1317 in grandiose forms with the adjoining convent complex which was accessed through the cloister. The complex, completed in 1407, was closed at the beginning of the 19th century due to the Napoleonic edict. The church was restored, returned to the Dominican friars in 1931 and reopened for worship at the behest of the Teramo historian Francesco Savini, whose tomb-mausoleum is located in the right nave. The internal structure of the church is composed of the extension of a single nave, covered by a gabled ceiling, and ends in the choir, with a square base, covered by a vault. The walls are covered with rich frescoes and, not long ago, paintings from the 1400s representing some scenes from the life of San Domenico have been brought to light. To the side of the main altar, in two aedicules from the Renaissance period, there is on the left a  Madonna in gilded and painted terracotta and on the right a group in polychrome stucco representing the family of St. Anna and St. Joachim. There is also a valuable organ in the church. Adjacent to the church is the 18th century Chapel of the Holy Rosary with frescoes and stuccos. Of the adjacent fourteenth-century convent, the arches of the Cloister remain with some lunettes painted with scenes linked to the life of Saint Dominic. Much of the rest of the building was home to the State Archives, currently there are some offices of the Prefecture. A small part is no longer inhabited by the Dominican friars, but by the Franciscan friars of the Immaculate Conception. The recent earthquakes have inflicted wounds on the Church, as can be seen from the photos.

Museums
The Museo Civico di Teramo is an art gallery located next to the city park, showcasing works by local artists such as Pasquale Celommi's '4 seasons.' The museum also features busts of historical figures from Abruzzo, like Gabrielle d'Annunzio and potentially Marco Panella and Ivan Graziani. Visitors can enjoy a well-curated exhibition with bilingual labels and QR codes linking to YouTube videos.

A further plus is the possibility of entering with your dog, a plus that many owners feel excluded and discriminated against due to the categorical ban. Trattoria Da Mauro in Teramo is a must-visit for those looking to enjoy delicious Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. The portions are generous, and it's even possible to request half portions, which are still quite filling. The variety and quantity of food served here are impressive, making it a great value for money. However, it's advisable to avoid visiting if you're in a hurry as the place tends to be busy and booking in advance is recommended.
Nice place to enjoy Italian food for reasonable price. Be careful with portion size - one plate with "pasta" is enough for 2 persons.

The place was not what I expected. I went there on a date night with my boyfriend. The space is tiny but they tried to make the most of it by adding another floor, you still feel very claustrophobic inside. The food was all right, but I must say the pizza is not the best in town. The tomato sauce was sour and the fried stuff was full of oil. The personal was trying to be friendly but they just ended up annoying you asking you everytime how the food was. One of them even told me I look disgusted (i was just relaxing). Over all not a great experience but the position in town is quite good.

We ordered two pizzas with home delivery. They weren't honestly good, in fact they were burnt and watery and you could see that they were done carelessly. Surely it wasn't worth the money we paid. I have to say that it wasn't even the first time I tried with them, I tried to give them another shot but they are still bad. I don't think I'll order from them again.

Clean, spacious and welcoming are adjectives that best describe this establishment. Reservations are needed and best for large parties. I prices are not justified by the products and service. Mine is advice. (Translated by Google) I came to Oishi with high expectations and... unfortunately, disappointing is an understatement. The price is decidedly outrageous considering the crab is surimi and the jalapeño is pickled. Unfortunately, only the nigiri seem to be up to par; otherwise, the much-vaunted ingredients on the menu are absent from the dishes. The service is poorly managed (they often forgot the rolls, even asking if we wanted to add other dishes). The wait times were long considering the double shift. Service and cover charge were decidedly high, given that we were constantly standing to close the door, which was left open due to the difficult closing times. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

The service is also done with love, passion and a lot of competence. Nice place even if a little small! Thank you for the experience you gave us!

Nestled in the heart of Teramo, La Vittoria is a charming trattoria that captures the essence of traditional Italian cuisine. With an ever-changing menu that highlights local flavors, this eatery offers dishes like the exquisite chitarra with pallottine and unique Mazzarelle, showcasing authentic Teraman specialties. Guests rave about the warm hospitality provided by Marco, the owner, who goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience.
We would give this place 10 stars if we could. The owner Marco was super friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. We ordered ragu pappardelle and a truffle gnocchi for first course. They were served together with freshly grated sheep cheese. We chose to share the pappardelle first and took our time enjoying it. It was excellent. By the time we finished, Marco came and offered to heat up the gnocchi for us. So nice of him. The dish came back recooked with added mushrooms. Such exquisite service. The portions of food was enormous and we had trouble finishing the 2 first courses. Marco saw that we were full and just cancelled the second course of grilled lamb skewers for us. It is way beyond what we imagined Italian home cooking would be like. Thank you Marco and family for a truly rewarding experience.

The best restaurant in Teramo by far. Service is 10/10 and so is the food. I had the Gnocchi with Porcini mushrooms and it's one of the best Gnocchi I had in my life.
