Pontile

Mentioned on
1 list
Sights & Landmarks
Piers & Boardwalks
Pontile is a picturesque pier that extends over the water, offering stunning views of the city lights reflecting on the sea during the late evening "blue hour." It's a popular spot for leisurely walks, especially at sunrise or in the late evening. The tranquil atmosphere makes it ideal for romantic strolls and it's also frequented by fishermen. On one side, it provides a peaceful setting for toddlers to play in the clean waters and soft sand.
This was the quiet side of the pier, and was good for my toddlers first time playing in the sea. There weren't showers, but the water was clean. The sand was soft and clean as well.

It's a nice place to walk in the late evening and maybe at sunrise. I never woke up so early. But when blue hour, in the late evening, the view is beautiful, with the city lights reflected in the sea. There are some fishermen, fishing from there. It's a nice place to walk for lovers and for romantic people

Nestled in the heart of Pineto, Villa Filiani stands as a beautifully restored historic building that captures the essence of Abruzzo's rich cultural heritage. This charming villa is not only an architectural gem but also serves as a vibrant hub for various cultural and social activities. Visitors can explore the Ethnomusicological Center located on its first floor, which showcases invaluable intangible assets from traditional Abruzzo culture. The surrounding garden offers a serene escape where families can relax while children play amidst lush greenery.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful villa, but more interesting is the civic museum Centro ethnomuseologico d'Abruzzo (CEd'A), a regional point of reference for the recovery, conservation and promotion of traditional oral music from Abruzzo (intangible demo-ethno-anthropological heritage). The guy who welcomed us was very helpful and answered our many questions. We were able to learn about a less touristy but certainly interesting aspect of Abruzzo culture. His passion led us to delve into this aspect and we purchased a CD to listen to part of these. songs, highly recommended. Thanks to this nineteen year old with so much passion and enthusiasm (Original) Bella villa, ma più interessante il museo civico Centro etnomuseologico d’Abruzzo (CEd’A) punto di riferimento regionale per il recupero, conservazione e promozione della musica di tradizione orale abruzzese (beni demo-etno-antropologici immateriali). La Pineta

Mentioned on

Wildlife park
La Pineta in Pineto is a well-maintained and lively pine forest park with amenities like volleyball courts, children's rides, and picnic areas. Despite the lack of public bathrooms, it offers a relaxing and enjoyable environment for families. The park's immensity and proximity to the sea make it a popular spot for swimmers and nature enthusiasts. It is equipped with benches, tables, rubbish bins, and play areas for children.

(Translated by Google) A quiet location, but not suitable for young people and car-free. We stayed in Pineto with my family, but the experience was disappointing in several ways. The location is very quiet, perhaps suitable for families with small children, but offers nothing for young people or those looking for some evening entertainment: everything is closed in the evenings, with no events or bars. Pharmacies and essential services are out of the way, making it difficult to reach without a car. The sea is often rough, and the lack of breakwaters makes it unsuitable for young children. In general, prices are high compared to what the area has to offer. A location that may be fine for those seeking relaxation and silence, but I wouldn't recommend it to those seeking a more active or complete vacation.

It's a pretty long beach. There is a road all along 100 meters off the coast with wild tracks connecting it to the seaside. Pretty intimate, nothing urban in sight. Unfortunately I couldn't appreciate the "natural" aspect of it even though I looked everywhere, but I'm told there's turtles and birds in the right season.

Restaurant
Nestled just a stone's throw from the beach, Vecchia Marina stands out as a culinary gem for seafood lovers. This Michelin-recognized restaurant is celebrated not only for its exquisite dishes but also for its reasonable pricing and attentive staff. A must-visit spot in Roseto, it offers an array of fresh, locally sourced fish that keeps patrons coming back. The local specialty, guazzetto alla rosetana, is particularly noteworthy and shouldn't be missed!
I’d easily give this place a 5. Food was incredibly great, good service and atmosphere, i have nothing to complain about. The food we ordered, all came fresh. Easy to tell. We came here with my inlaws, so we had no trouble getting the right dishes cos they’re regulars here. I really love everything that we had in this place. I wasn’t able to take photos of everything we ordered cos we were busy eating. 😆

My partner and I stumbled upon it by chance, during a trip between north and south and I must admit that I never imagined being able to have such an excellent lunch. 5 stars and it deserves them all! I had been targeting it for some time, but it's not always easy to find a place and now I understand why! Friendly and pleasant service, excellent and pleasantly plated food, perfect location facing the sea.

Ali Y — Google review
Possible the best sea food restaurant around Roseto. Always packed and for good reason. We had to reserve two weeks in advance for a Wednesday evening in August. They use only fresh, locally caught fish, so not everything on the menu, specifically secondi, is available. However the quality of the anti pasti and primi is really something else. Especially the pasta was Michelin star worthy. Service good, wine list good and also locally focused. The desserts were also a pleasant highlight. All in all very good quality for a reasonable price. Only downside would be no easy dishes for children. Absolutely recommended.

Ristorante manetta sas

Restaurant
Ristorante Manetta sas is a culinary gem that beautifully marries passion with exceptional ingredients, showcasing the best of seasonal produce while honoring traditional recipes. Nestled along the picturesque promenade with stunning beach views, this modern eatery offers a delightful dining experience for those seeking innovative pairings of land and sea. Whether you're indulging in their exquisite antipasti or savoring the enchanting granita alla liquirizia for dessert, every dish promises to tantalize your taste buds.
My wife and myself were recommended by locals to visit Manetta as one of the best restaurants in all Abruzzo ,So we went to have a Lunch .. We shared a platte of cold carudo ( raw sea food) that was delicious Not just the by the quality of the ingredients but the chef touches as well, The pasta dish with black truffle was a success in my case but less with my wife choice of pasta,as it was a bit” heavy” . The grilled SeaBass fish we shared was done perfectly and the tasty potatoes that came as supplement to the fish were cooked excellent . The restaurant is a bit pricey but with such quality of raw materials you can almost understand 😉😜

A little bit expensive. As far as I'm concerned, neither the food offer nor the ambience do justify almost € 140 for two antipasti (very generous, indeed), two main, one dessert and a bottle of wine (€15).

Pizzas are unique. They’re super good but they offer something different from the usual Italian traditional ones. We tried 4 different ones and were really good and tasty. Staff is top and the place is very cozy. 100% recommended for a good pizza night :)

Wow! Big, I mean giant surprice. Pizza simply the best I have ever eat during my several travels to Italy. Homemade desert (6 of 5*), excelent coffee, calm nice place out of beach traffic (but not far), staff very kind to children, anytime you may need them come right in the moment, speaking perfect english, whats pretty rare in this area. Dont waste your money and time visiting classic "ristorante" of your hotel with rude waiters and overpaid primi piatti. Recommended!

Pizzeria Braceria Nonno Chitò

$$$$affordable
Pizza restaurant
Nestled along the picturesque Lungomare Trieste in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Pizzeria Braceria Nonno Chitò is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This family-friendly establishment prides itself on serving up delectable dishes crafted from the finest local ingredients sourced from the pristine Adriatic Sea and untouched inland areas. Whether you're indulging in their mouthwatering pizzas or savoring traditional Arrosticini, each bite reflects a commitment to quality and flavor.
Been travelling around Italy for a month, I can not say enough about how great this place was. Went with a large group of friends so we had the privilege of trying many appetizers, pizzas and of course the Arrosticini (lamb and liver were both incredible). One of our best nights spent in Italy was here. Grazie Mille!!

This is one of our favorite go to place when in Roseto. They have the best pizza, that is a fact. The arrosticini, they are the best too especially now that they added salt during grilling (the past times I was here, arrosticinis were not salted and it wasn’t great). The normal arrosticini are soft but my favorite are the arrosticini fegato. They are so tender and I can say they were not frozen prior to cooking. Also they have vegan option for pizzas and desserts (I had crema catalana veg and it was great!). Service is ok.

Our server was very nice, polite and professional and THEY HAVE AN AMAZING VEGAN CALZONE that everybody will fall in love with it. Great quality! YAY PIZZA, CALZONE E DOLCE VEGANO 🌱

Fish restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque countryside yet conveniently close to the coastline, Villa Sofia is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable gastronomic experience. This elegant restaurant boasts a menu filled with delightful and inventive dishes, showcasing unique combinations of flavors and aromas. The ambiance is perfect for intimate dinners, especially during the summer months when guests can enjoy al fresco dining by the poolside. Under the creative guidance of renowned chef Gabriele Feliciani, each dish at Villa Sofia reflects artistic expression and culinary mastery.
The chef/owner celebrate the best of the Adriatic seafood in his kitchen. Every dish is well presented, high quality ingredients and good combination of tradition and innovation (thanks to his long experience abroad). He’s a charming host as well. Very good experience overall. Well done!

As Chef Gabriele Feliciani put it, "fireworks!" This sums up our meal. Amazing use of ingredients, which when put together created many courses, which were different, original and surprising. A beautiful evening with Chef Feliciani, honoured to have a personal explanation of each course. The service was perfect. A truly memorable evening and we will certainly be back many times! Thank you! Absolutely the best seafood restaurant in Abruzzo. We loved it!

(Translated by Google) I was lucky enough to have dinner at this restaurant and I was enchanted. The environment is very bright and refined, the chef and owner, Gabriele Felicioni, is welcoming and kind, as well as preparing amazing dishes. We left the menu choice to the chef and really left satisfied. Excellent dishes from the point of view of the quality of the raw materials, with daring combinations but which really, with their unusual flavor notes, pleasantly tickled the palate. Elegant and pleasant presentations which also greatly satisfied both the sense of smell and sight. The dishes were based on fish, but always revisited in a creative way, with extensive use of aromatic herbs that gave unexpected notes of flavour. The portions, which may seem small, are actually perfectly calibrated so that you can savor the entire meal while still leaving full. The experience is definitely worth having and perhaps repeating.

From the magnificent location to the warm welcome, from the attention to every detail to the impeccable service. The presence in the room of chef Gabriele Feliciani is very welcome and with great passion and kindness he describes, step by step, his dishes which are true works of art from their plating to the crescendo of flavors in the mouth. There is no menu or wine list and the chef offers a complete menu of starters, first courses, second courses and desserts accompanied by Franciacorta bubbles and excellent bread of various types. The use of quality raw materials, the original combinations of fish with unusual and refined ingredients, the sweet note and the use of milk derivatives (ricotta, mascarpone, burrata,...) in many of the dishes (perhaps those who are lactose intolerant/allergic to milk proteins should know this). €250 for two (€100 per person plus 1 bottle of Franciacorta) never better spent for a surprising culinary experience. An experience definitely worth repeating, perhaps on a summer night by the pool. Highly recommended. L'Orto Del Casale is a must-visit destination for anyone craving arrosticini, especially if you're not keen on the traditional lamb version. They offer a delightful chicken alternative that many believe surpasses the classic choice. The cozy atmosphere and charming outdoor seating make it an ideal spot during the summer months, while the quality of food remains consistently high throughout the year.
The food is delicious and the ambience is marvelous. The tables are under small pavilions which are spread within a olive garden under the trees.

My favourite place for arrosticini! I’m not a big fan of the classic ones (made by castrated/lamb meat), and they have the chicken ones as an alternative, and I think that they are far better than anything else! CIAMBI beach restaurant drink CABANA PARK

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
If you're looking for a delightful dining experience by the sea, CIAMBI beach restaurant is a must-visit. Nestled in an enchanting location, it offers stunning views that captivate both during the day and at night. The menu features well-prepared dishes with fresh seafood that truly highlights quality ingredients. While some items like the soute of mussels and clams may not stand out as much as others, the overall culinary experience is commendable.
We found this place by chance on Google, we wanted to have a spontaneous lunch by the beach during our road trip. The setting overlooking the beach and the sea was perfect. Food came in generous portions. We only wanted some salad and a pinsa to share, and they were all very tasty. Service was good. We have enjoyed our lunch a lot.
Julie K — Google review
I was shocked on how horrible this location is and how awful the service was at this place. We booked a gazebo and paddleboards online. We ate here, the food was okay. The beach is awful, it’s a rocky beach next to a drain, the water is disgusting. There is so many other places along this beach, I recommend going anywhere but here. We arrived and I asked to use the paddleboards in the evening, an employee told us that would be okay. Once we asked to use the 2 paddleboards we paid for, they said “they didn’t have paddleboards”, and gave us a time limit that was under the full hour, that WE PAID for. They gave us ONE paddleboat for 40 minutes, the staff refused to get the paddleboards… they were tucked away. We asked for a refund and they refused to give us one. Just lazy and rude staff here. We have been travelling over Italy for about a month now, and this was BY FAR the WORST service we have received this past month. I was extreme disappointed by this business, and we still didn’t get a refund for this issue.

The absolute best pizza from Pescara to Roseto. Don’t bother going anywhere else. Delicious dough that transforms into the crispiest bite. Fresh local ingredients. The waiters and staff take time to help you out if you cannot decide on the vast pizza variations. Thanks Marko and Francesca for such good recommendations. Beautiful little gem in Giulianova. The presentation of the food was first class. Although I am not a big fan of sea food, they did all they could to accommodate me and make me something that I would like. It's a lovely setting and I would really recommend eating here. I would definitely make a reservation if I were you, as it gets very busy.

Everything was delicious. The mixed antipasti, the anglerfish, the dessert, also the wine of the house. And the setting of the restaurant is beautiful - slightly above the beach. We had difficulties finding the access road with the car, as it is no asphalt road. But if you arrive on the gravel-dirtroad, you're right on track.

Abruzzo Airport

International airport
Airport
Abruzzo Airport, located in central Italy, serves as a gateway to the mountainous and green region of Abruzzo. The airport is situated near four provinces: L'Aquila, Teramo, Pescara, and Chieti, offering access to an impressive coastline and traditional wooden platforms known as Trabocchi selling fresh seafood. This region is celebrated for its natural beauty, including the Gran Sasso mountain range and Italy's oldest national park.
For a small regional airport it functioned very well. Security scanning and boarding was relatively fast and smooth, less stressful than much larger airports we have been through.
Stephen W — Google review
The airport doesn't have enough seats, the only sandwiches after the security are meat - what about good Friday and vegetarians - they have no shops and their security is outdated. Furthermore, they stopped a kid for having a chocolate spread (that can not be bought in engalnd) and deodorant. The thing is that this kid wasn't all secretive or anything he was really warm and nice!!
Alessandro C — Google review
Pescara Airport is honestly one of the worst I’ve ever been to. It’s dirty, the staff are rude, and the bar after security serves terrible panini — cold, tasteless, and overpriced at €8. The woman behind the counter was far from friendly. The whole place feels neglected and unpleasant. There are no proper souvenir or cosmetic shops, just a few poor-quality options. This airport seriously needs an inspection for cleanliness and service standards. I would never recommend it — places like this shouldn’t even operate if they treat travelers with such little respect. Even one star is too much for this place
Eliza ( — Google review
Not bad for a very small airport, only has 5 gates for international departure. Staff are helpful and courteous. There are charging station for phones but only on one side at Gate 2 near the vending machine.
Jord S — Google review
Such a basic airport, no food insight or outside But very convenient and quiet. We will use this airport again as perfect base for Abruzzo
Tjiepe M — Google review
Nice easy airport, only 5 gates so security and customs is easy work.
Tomaso M — Google review
The benches inside the airport are dirty, the charging point doesn’t work, they took away my solution for lenses though it was less than 100 ml. The staff don’t speak decent English. Terrible!
Angy A — Google review
Although it is a small airport, it has all the essentials you may need while waiting. The only downside is that for those flying to London, it is not possible to go to the shops after security unless you visit them before passport control. Once you pass that point, you are no longer able to shop in the limited ‘duty free’ area.” it wold be good to reatlrrange the passport control so that everione can shop and after go to the respective gate of departure
