Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, also known as Teramo Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in Teramo, Italy. This historic site is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Berardo, the city's patron saint. The cathedral showcases a captivating blend of Romanesque-Gothic architecture and was consecrated in 1176. As the seat of the Bishop of Teramo-Atri, it holds significant religious importance in the region.
Cathedral dedicated to Mary but also to saint Bernardo, a patron saint of the city Teramo. Guess who is more important😇 Build almost 900 years ago, romanesce style. It is not as rich in ornaments as newer cathedrals but has a lot of old ones out of stone. Love the relief oposite the main doors from the square.
Rok S — Google review
Excellent cathedral - mix of Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture. I recommend to look attentive at all sides of the cathedral - it's real feast of wonderful art of different ages. Inside you can see beautiful altar image of Jacobello di Fiore (the chapel to the right of main altar)
Sibeaster — Google review
It is a church of recent construction, that is around the middle of the last century, even if it rises on the remains of a much older building of worship, the Church of Santa Maria ad Bocetum dating back to the early 16th century. It was profoundly renovated in the early 2000s and therefore currently has a distinctly modernist configuration. It has a gabled roof, while the façade is embellished with a red brick trifora that surmounts the small roof over the entrance door.
Alp E — Google review
Artworks in the church include the silver antependium of the high altar, a masterwork by Nicola da Guardagriele, who worked on it with his workshop from 1433 to 1448. This antependium replaced a previous one, also of precious quality, which had been stolen in 1416 during the troubles following the death of King Ladislaus of Naples.

Teramo cathedral is well known for its beautiful aesthetic. The Teramo Cathedral is situated in the heart of the city, and it is centered among four historical neighbourhoods: San Giorgio, Santo Spirito, Santa Maria a Bitetto and San Leonardo. The Cathedral, with is imposing structure and its bell tower, it is one of the most important religious and architectonical buildings in the Abruzzo region, and it has always been the visible centre of this city as well as its symbol. For this project Uponor installed an underfloor heating system. The state of the cathedral called for a conservative intervention, and the underfloor solution was the ideal one in order to provide a comfortable environment for the faithful as well as to preserve the feature of such historical building.

Ristorante La Granseola Teramo is a seafood lover's paradise, where every dish is crafted with care and passion. Diners rave about the freshness of the seafood, which is prepared to perfection, allowing its natural flavors to shine through. The menu features delightful first courses that are both delicate and flavorful, complemented by an impressive selection of wines from top wineries. Guests have also enjoyed a fantastic olive oil and an irresistible tiramisu that even non-fans can't resist.
If you love all things seafood, with the highest quality, I highly recommend Ristorante La Graseola, whole heartedly. Delicious food, every dish cooked to perfection. Good portion sizes. Quite reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. Excellent friendly service. Lightest lemon sorbet I've ever tasted. Place was crowded for lunch with Italian locals. We left stuffed and very happy. .

(Translated by Google) A sublime lunch! Excellent bottles from top wineries. The raw fish was spectacular, all very tasty and cooked with passion. I also thoroughly enjoyed the two first courses, both delicate and flavorful. A truly excellent lunch, from the appetizers to my beloved gentian. I hope to return. The staff was super efficient, even super fast at times; perhaps a few more minutes would have been perfect before clearing away the glasses and bottles, just to enjoy the last moments. Good luck, and congratulations. (Original) Un pranzo sublime! Buon lavoro e complimenti.

(Translated by Google) Amazing seafood cuisine: perfectly prepared fresh seafood. We were lucky to try and purchase a fantastically mild-tasting olive oil there. And there’s also incredible tiramisu - I don’t like this dessert in general, but here it’s so good that it’s impossible to resist. We were here twice: once we just stopped by by chance, but the second time we drove 80 kilometers specifically to have lunch here.

The place was not what I expected. I went there on a date night with my boyfriend. The space is tiny but they tried to make the most of it by adding another floor, you still feel very claustrophobic inside. The food was all right, but I must say the pizza is not the best in town. The tomato sauce was sour and the fried stuff was full of oil. The personal was trying to be friendly but they just ended up annoying you asking you everytime how the food was. One of them even told me I look disgusted (i was just relaxing). Over all not a great experience but the position in town is quite good.

We ordered two pizzas with home delivery. They weren't honestly good, in fact they were burnt and watery and you could see that they were done carelessly. Surely it wasn't worth the money we paid. I have to say that it wasn't even the first time I tried with them, I tried to give them another shot but they are still bad. I don't think I'll order from them again.

(Translated by Google) 6 days after I visited Oishi in Pescara, I was disappointed by this experience, thinking I would find the same thing and instead... I won't spend much time commenting on every single thing, but just one piece of advice: When you write truffle you don't have to use the scorzone you lose the one in the jars and even worse help it with truffle aromas, which may be pleasant for the table next to yours but for you they inhibit all the flavors and aromas of what you are eating... I prices are not justified by the products and service. Mine is advice.

(Translated by Google) I came to Oishi with high expectations and... unfortunately, disappointing is an understatement. The price is decidedly outrageous considering the crab is surimi and the jalapeño is pickled. Unfortunately, only the nigiri seem to be up to par; otherwise, the much-vaunted ingredients on the menu are absent from the dishes. The service is poorly managed (they often forgot the rolls, even asking if we wanted to add other dishes). The wait times were long considering the double shift. Service and cover charge were decidedly high, given that we were constantly standing to close the door, which was left open due to the difficult closing times. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

Castles
Nestled in the charming city of Teramo, Castello Della Monica stands as a testament to artistic ambition and historical significance. Constructed between 1889 and 1917 by painter Gennaro Della Monica, this neo-medieval castle showcases an intriguing asymmetrical design that captivates visitors. After years of neglect, it has recently reopened its doors following extensive restoration efforts, allowing travelers to explore its beautifully adorned interiors filled with frescoes painted by the artist himself.
Castello della Monica is a 20th Century (!) private residence of artist Gennaro della Monica who had planned to create a whole town in medieval style. It's just opened its doors again after being closed for 40 years and then restored (the pandemic and a recent earthquake didnt help either) You can wander through the building to see some of the frescoes of Teramo that the artist had lovingly painted himself... as well as infusing the building with his own personal image throughout.

Adjacent to the central Piazza Garibaldi. The exterior is very beautiful and well preserved, there is some work in progress. The interior has been conservatively restored, leaving signs of time. It is a pity that the house has been managed by the municipality for about 40 years but has only recently been made available to the public. The house has been stripped of all internal furniture, leaving only traces of the few paintings that remain visible. It would be nice if it were fully recovered and it would be better to charge admission even with a symbolic fee of a few €2-3 to be able to support part of the maintenance. There is no parking nearby, except parking in the square or in Viale dei Tigli or in the same parking lots used for those who take a tour of the center. Beautiful, worth a visit! I'm from Canada. I guess I expected pizza in Italy to be something a notch above North American pizza. What I've gotten here, and at one other place, is a dry shingle with toppings. They don't slice it. Place it front of you in its' entirety. I hacked away at it with the butter knife they provided, to no avail. Maybe a steak knife would do better? Had to send it back to the kitchen so that they could saw through it. It took every tooth in my mouth to chew through this. I so wanted it to be wonderful. It wasn't.

The food is very good. The service we got not so nice. We were four and two of us (amongst which a child) finished the dinner and had the dessert before the other two had even the appetizer.

This place just gets better and better. It's so great to find a seafood restaurant which is prepared to take the risk of preparing new and inventive ways with their menu. Executed with skill, presented really well and the staff know exactly how each dish has been prepared and what ingredients had been used - some being unusual for Teramo! The seafood Bao Buns last week (05/21) were a major surprise and delight! Please keep doing what you are doing. See you again next week! :)

(Translated by Google) I came for dinner with a friend interested in sushi. The incredible location with attention to every detail. We sat down and were served a special entree, a cone with marinated prawns inside. We ordered salmon sashimi that melted in the mouth, salmon tartare, salmon bao (all really tasty) and then we got some rolls (8 pcs), an ebiten with tempura prawns, one with red mazara prawns and finally one with spicy salmon. I would like to point out how the rolls are made with a large quantity of fish and less rice (as it should be). The flavors of everything can really be felt and stand out in the mouth. Very pleasant experience and thanks to the dining room staff, welcoming, kind and friendly. In any case, quite a long wait, usual inedible pizza, speakers inexplicably tuned to kiss kiss radio with commercial music that does nothing but disturb those who are eating. At least the staff (small, only two!) are friendly and the prices are decidedly low. There is a good wine, Zaccagni winery!
