Sights & Landmarks
The Monolithic Church of Saint-Emilion is an underground church carved from limestone, with a towering 68-meter bell tower. It dates back to the 12th century and is said to be made from a single stone. The majority of the church is located underground, and visitors can explore it on official tours organized by the Office of Tourism. The village was named after Emilion, an 8th-century hermit who established a religious community there.
Beautiful and well preserved. Love all the history and still the roman wall. Built on eachother. Love the streets and the wine.

Amazing history and architecture! This little town was established around 800AD. Every road is cobblestone so wear flat shoes with good grip. Try to see everything in this area. This is one of the oldest wine growing regions in the world.
Jamie J — Google review
This is an absolutely wonderful piece of medieval architecture, and a real glimpse into the life of a hermit and his followers. The tour is wonderful and takes you on a journey from the small cave in which St Emilion to the mic. Church carved out of the rock by his followers and the devout. No photographs are allowed, but they’re plenty online. This is a fantastic tour and a must if you are going to st Emilion

Best thing to do/see in town + not a rip off (unlike most things in saint emilion) You get given a key from the information desk and sent on your way. They only let a few people in at a time (around 6) so it’s not crowded at all! Make sure to go up the tower when you’re visiting!
Hattie C — Google review
I recommend getting the guided tour, it is worthwhile if you are in Saint-Emilion. Guide is available in many languages and goes through 4 different sections. The underground part is quite the spectacle. The workers were helpful and very knowledgeable on the church.

Historical & landmark Church in Saint-Emilion This is a fantastic medieval building in the town center of St. Emilion. Beautiful architecture well worth your time to visit regardless of if you are religious or not. We really enjoyed visiting this village probably one of the nicest in this region, and this church is high on the little of amazing building you can see & visit.

A fascinating place but for someone a bit unsteady on their feet the paths and roads are made with pebbles and are very uneven.

Chai Pascal is a cozy kitchen with exposed-stone walls, offering classic dishes made with local ingredients. The menu features simple yet outstanding food and a great wine list at reasonable prices. The owner, Pascal, previously worked in a top Parisian wine shop before opening the restaurant in Bordeaux. The inviting ambiance makes it perfect for a romantic and relaxed dinner, where you can enjoy fresh oysters and traditional French dishes like Croque monsieur.
Good quality food in a pleasant sized room. Staff very attentive and polite. Good grades asp of English if needed. Had the set meal and was very pleased. Pork and Tagliatelle was fantastic. Well cooked food. Wine was good, as expected.

Chai Pascal was so amazing! We enjoyed several of the lunch specials and were not disappointed. The service was the best during our entire week of many different restaurants and bistros in Saint Emilion. Definitely make a reservation so you don’t miss out of this fantastic dining experience.
Sandra R — Google review
The service is impeccable – attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. Our meal was a highlight, starting with the perfectly seared Foie Gras, rich and meltingly tender, a true taste of luxury. The Pan-Seared Duck Breast was equally impressive, cooked to perfection with a crispy skin and succulent, pink interior, complemented by a delicious sauce. Their wine list, as expected in this region, is extensive and well-curated, offering fantastic local selections. The staff were excellent at recommending pairings that elevated our meal.
Yecheng S — Google review
What a wonderful place for lunch. The staff were friendly, each dish was superb. The cafe gourmand deserves a poem by itself. Would certainly recommend that you stop here.
Ben W — Google review
Excellent lunch. We had the duck and the pressed lamb. The grand cru wine was delicious. The deserts were superb.
Kate B — Google review
Che Pascale is located in a convenient spot in the village, slightly away from the main center. The interior is tastefully decorated: small, closely spaced tables, yet the atmosphere remains pleasant and airy. The service is professional, but from the very start there is a noticeable push to order wine, aperitifs, and bottled water. Declining these suggestions is often met with a subtle sense of impatience from the staff. For starters, we had a tuna and salmon tartare — average in quality, modest in portion size, and rather simple in flavor. The meat, supposedly their signature dish and among the most expensive on the menu, was of only moderate quality: tough in parts, with sinew and chewy sections. The rare cooking was well executed, however. The bill was average for Saint-Émilion, so reasonable in that sense, but the overall experience did not make us feel truly welcome. A reservation is still recommended, given the large number of tourists — mostly American and Asian — who may be more receptive to the constant upselling of wine and aperitifs, even at lunchtime.

A hidden gem in Saint emilion! Very cozy restaurant without a terrace but comfortable. The food was incredible, super tasty. I strongly recommend to book in advance.

Logis de la Cadène, established in 1848, is one of the oldest hotel restaurants in Saint-Emilion. Situated in the medieval town's center, it offers an elegant interior and a charming garden. The restaurant was acquired by the Bouard de Laforest family in 2013 and received its first Michelin star in 2017. The setting features a blend of materials, including polished wood furniture and rare Chinese artifacts.
I find the negative reviews laughable. This is an outstanding restaurant, and I say this as someone who regularly goes to two- and three-star restaurants in Barcelona. We entered almost casually with our kids (3 and 6) while visiting St. Emilion, well aware of how challenging this could be for the staff; they surprised us with an impromptu menu for our children, and a waiter even brought colors and paper to entertain them. We tried the Market Menu with wine pairing (we didn't want to test our kids' patience with a three-hour course), and found the quality to be, simply put, sublime. Flavors were stark and recognizable (especially the mushroom entree), the wine a perfect match. Charming location and highly professional service. A star well deserved indeed.

We reserved the cave downstairs for the evening. It was a magical setting for my daughters birthday celebration. Alexandre was outstanding since our first email contact He spent the evening with us and did a phenomenal job of explaining what was being served and where it was from.. The restaurant created a wonderful menu for us which included wine pairing. After dinner was over we went further down into the cave and saw their wine collection. To all the staff thank you for a great evening. You made our daughter feel very special.

Perfect experience from start to finish! Friendly staff, beautiful patio and local fresh ingredients! If you have a wine tasting to go to, they will let you know which menus take what amount of time so you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed manner and also make your appointment. Highly recommend!

An unforgettable dining experience at Logis de la Cadène! Every dish was a masterpiece, full of creativity and flavor, with generous compliments from the chef. The wine list is incredible — as vast and rich as Tolstoy’s War & Peace! After dinner, we even had the chance to step into the kitchen and meet the chef Thibaut Gamba personally — such a special touch. Highly recommended for true food and wine lovers!
Natalia B — Google review
Our recent dining experience at the restaurant included a food tasting that was rated four stars. The service was exceptional, with detailed explanations provided for each dish. The initial four courses were particularly impressive, showcasing both excellent presentation and flavor. However, the two main courses were excessively salty, and the dessert was overly sweet, making it difficult to finish. Given the restaurant's Michelin rating, this was a disappointing outcome.
Toney S — Google review
We had high expectations for this restaurant in the historic centre of St Emilion, however we were disappointed. We were given a table Outdoors, as there was a large group inside which took all the tables. There was however a second, empty dining room, but we were told we couldn’t use it. Our table was too big for 6 people, it made it difficult to all talk to each other. It was super hot under the cheap seats pastiche sheet and there were some insects. No fan was available. The table had no tablecloth and the decor was awful, it certainly did not represent fine dining. The food was very hit and miss: for example the goat cheese and balsamic vinegar dessert was awful, nobody ate it. Definitely not worth the money. There are better restaurants in the area.
Gio G — Google review
We had high expectations for our dinner at Logis de la Cadène, given its Michelin star and reputation as one of the premier dining destinations in Saint-Émilion. The setting itself is lovely — a charming, historic building in the heart of the village, with a warm and elegant atmosphere that sets the stage beautifully. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not quite live up to what we had hoped for. The food was, frankly, just so-and-so. While the plating was beautiful and clearly crafted with care, the flavors and execution felt underwhelming and somewhat forgettable, especially when judged against the high standard you expect from a Michelin-starred kitchen. Nothing we tasted stood out as exceptional, and some dishes even felt flat in terms of seasoning and creativity. What really disappointed us, though, was the level of service. In a restaurant of this caliber, the service should be attentive, polished, and almost intuitive — making you feel cared for without being intrusive. Instead, it felt inconsistent and inattentive, with long waits between courses, staff who seemed rushed or distracted, and little of the warmth or finesse you expect from fine dining. This lack of attention to detail in the service really took away from the experience. On a positive note, the sommelier was excellent. He was knowledgeable, personable, and made thoughtful recommendations that complemented the meal well. His expertise and approach were a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing evening. All in all, the meal felt overpriced for what was delivered — both in terms of the food and the experience. A Michelin star carries a promise of excellence, and unfortunately, Logis de la Cadène fell short of that promise for us. With more care in the kitchen and, above all, much more attentive and polished service, it could truly shine. But as it is now, it feels more like you’re paying for the name and the setting rather than for a truly memorable dining experience.

Restaurant review. We had a wonderful experience at Logis de la Cadène. La Table de Pavie is a renowned restaurant located in the luxurious Hotel de Pavie in Saint Emilion. The hotel, a former convent with historical significance, offers a sanctuary for travelers and pilgrims. Yannick Alleno oversees the restaurant, which showcases finely tuned dishes reflecting the terroir of Southwest France. The menu features signature sauces and reductions by executive chef Alleno.
I visited here 5 years ago and had a perfect lunch. The staffs were all professional and the service was excellent. I think the chef changed a few years ago. However, I still can't forget the lobster dish and the St. Emilion wines. I plan to visit again to experience the new chef's cuisine with wine.

I literally don't have the words to properly describe this experience. The precision of their service delivering dishes and refilling wine feels like a dance. The dining room is a work of art. The food is inspired and magnificent. I think a lot about taking aspects of our life and turning them into a work of art. The cuisine as La Table de Pavie is nothing short of a masterpiece. What an experience

Lunch at La Table de Pavie — An Exceptional Experience Our lunch at La Table de Pavie was truly unforgettable. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and invited to begin our experience on the terrace, where we enjoyed a drink and a selection of amuse-bouches while taking in a panoramic view of Saint-Émilion. With the clear blue sky, gentle sunlight, and a refreshing breeze, it was the perfect start. After this lovely moment, we were guided to our table inside to begin the Esprit de Pavie set menu: • Steamed omelette served with Prunier caviar and two sauces • Koji-Zoto cooked in Graves wine, with mature Mimolette and cockles • Duplantier duck with orange sugar turnip, black grapefruit, and Bordelaise liver toast • Gently roasted apple with Espelette pepper, apple sabayon, and caramelized rye bread Wine pairing: • White: Château Latour Martillac Blanc, Pessac-Léognan 2022 • Red: Château Fleur Cardinale 2016 Each dish was thoughtfully crafted, showcasing refined flavors, seasonal ingredients, and a high level of culinary precision. The service was equally impressive—highly professional, well-trained, and gracefully attentive throughout. After dessert and a delightful petit four, we were invited back to the terrace for a fresh herbal tea, beautifully concluding both our lunch and our visit to Saint-Émilion. It was the perfect finale to our wine journey in Bordeaux.

Have only been to one other two Michelin star restaurant and I have to say this one was better. If not purely for the vegetable dish which was all of our favourites. The caviar egg dish and the second pigeon dish was superb. The other were on par and great quality. The only experience I did not love was the towel over my head, not mu thing as I like to eat at my own pace, but the pigeon itself was interesting. The sommeliers were excellent 👌 the wine suggestions were phenomenal and on fact I found my new favourite red. As we were warned, don't eat too much bread because the portions per plate are fairly big so it's a struggle to get through. But of course no food for me anyway was left. Really special restaurant with beautiful decor and a happy bunch of employees so highly recommend.

We had lunch at La Table de Pavie at St Emilion in May 2025. It was probably one of the highlights of our entire trip to 10 countries. From the time we enjoyed our aperitifs in the courtyard overlooking the amazing city to the immaculate service inside the restaurant. We would highly recommend this experience if you are looking for a white glove haute French cuisine in the area. We also visited a few other Michelin starred restaurants in the area, but the entire experience at Pavie is one of the kind. At a price, of course. The reason for the 4/5 stars for the food was because we found 1 of the courses very salty, but perhaps our palate was not used to it. It was bar none the most romantic meal we had for our one month trip. The staff was very knowledgeable and converse fluently in English. The entire meal took a good 3 hours, ended with desert and coffee at the courtyard to enjoy the views. Highly recommended.

We had dinner at le Table de Pavie. Phenomenal food and experience, especially the courses that tell a story of local culture. The tasting menu can go quite late (ours took more than 5 hours) and sometimes we felt they had forgotten us, but perhaps that’s because we are not night owls! All in all, the portions were generous, even when it came to delicacies like caviar, and the menu was quite well thought out. You can also request a shorter menu so it doesn’t take as long, which is what I did for my second visit.
Emmy S — Google review
It was a last minute discovery as we randomly visited Saint-Emillion on our way back home. We were extremely lucky that one table in the restaurant had been cancelled the night before so we could enjoy dinner here. And it was absolutely amazing, what an experience! Very attentfull staff, but a special thanks to Glenn and Daphne who explained us the menu and the pairing wines in our native language. Made it even more special. We'll definitely come back!

Bravo to the management and the whole team. Every detail is pure perfection. Elevated Haute-Cusine but sans pretensions and snobbery. I’d even call the atmosphere humble and very generous. A memorable meal and experience. ❤️

L'Huitrier Pie is a charming restaurant located in the Bordeaux region of France, specifically in the village of Saint-Emilion. Housed in a 16th-century stone building with a picturesque tree-shaded patio, this restaurant offers artfully plated seasonal dishes. The establishment is dedicated to sustainable gastronomy, utilizing produce, herbs, and edible flowers from their own garden irrigated with recycled rainwater. They source ingredients exclusively from local purveyors who adhere to sustainability standards.
We were traveling in France and my confirmation for our reservation was done late at night prior to our visit on the next day. My request was that we had to leave before 150pm to join a guided tour. I was surprised that Restaurant staff did review on my comments and advised us that we could only order the 3 courses lunch as our time was limited. Food was exceptionally excellent especially the dessert. I would recommend when you pay a visit to Saint emilion you should go to this restaurant. Also, I think this restaurant should have 1 Michelin star !!!

From our arrival where we were offered a nice table on the terrace, to the moment we left, we have been enchanted by this restaurant. The staff is just so nice, the cuisine of this lovely duo is a real discovery. So much work gets into each plate. One can feel they really want to please their guests and share their unique vision of gastronomy. Esthetically beautiful and so well realised, each dish is a surprise for the eye and for the palate. A very good one indeed! 😋 And considering the work in the kitchen, the menu we selected at 69 euro, was pretty reasonable. The experience is full of lovely moments I wish to try again soon. Thank you for your warm welcome and kindness. I couldn't have expected a better place to celebrate my birthday 👍🙂

Lunch at L’Huitrier Pie was epic! There is no air conditioning, so I recommend their beautiful outdoor patio. The tasting menu was great. Each course was delicious with multiple taste combinations. At the same time, all dishes arrived looking more like art than food. What a great experience! They paced each course well, giving us enough time to reflect on the art and tastes of each part of each course, while not having us wait too long between courses. They also kept a consistent pacing throughout our lunch. If you have another afternoon appointment, be sure to inform your host so they can advise you on which menu will fit in your schedule.

This was one of the best culinary experiences we’ve ever had. The servers were so welcoming and nice - we had no reservation and had to leave at a specific time for a meeting, and they helped make sure we fit everything in. All the dishes were unique and delicious, and there were some extra surprises thrown in too. The oysters (which I usually don’t even like) were a highlight. Overall was an incredible experience, would highly recommend. Shoutout to the staff for making our meal really special!

Really an absolutely fantastic experience! The restaurant is located in one of the little streets of Saint Emilion, inside one of the typical sandstone buildings. After being greeted by the friendly staff, we went for the „Degustation“ menu, with 5 courses - and those 5 courses did not disappoint! You are being taken on a food journey, where the chefs combine classics with modern kitchen, conventional with unconventional, to create a visually impressive and tasteful experience. Paired with wine, this created an everlasting memory. Not to forget, the staff was warm, welcoming and funny, adding to the overall positive impression. We celebrated a birthday there, and will be happy to come back to dine here again. Thank you!

What a lovely experience. The food was really good quality and the staff were truly delightful. We were given a great wine recommendation and felt the whole experience was good value. Tiffany in particular was really knowledgeable and helpful. Especially when our taxi let us down and she organised a replacement. Lots of little surprises along the way. I recommend the extra cheese course, fine to share one between two. The wine selection was great and they didn’t try to upsell us at all.
Patrick D — Google review
We came here late May for dinner on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was rather full. We opted for the Emotion tasting menu. The price is reasonable, however we waited quite a bit in between courses. The preparation felt rushed and not as refined as the picture. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day where they are short on staff. The amuse bouche and deserts were quite innovative.
Carl W — Google review
Great. Everything - the service, the atmosphere, the food, the drinks. A place with a vision, with people who love what they do. A signature menu worth this name - great balance of aromas, of sour, sweet, bitter; more focus on vegetables and fruits than meat, which I really appreciate. way less conventional than one would expect at a touristy place like St. Emilion, but everybody was positively surprised and happy around us. Thank you for a very good time.

This delicious french restaurant is in the village of Pomerol and offers top-notch service and delicious dishes. The wine is also excellent.
Amazing cuisine, the €46,00 lunch menu is outstanding value, the presentation of every dish is sophisticated and perfect. A delight for the eyes and the taste buds. A very good and extensive wine list. Service efficient and with a smile. Clean and luminous decor even on a grey day. A delightful place.

We were so looking forward to dining at this restaurant. We drove from St Emilion to Pomerol when the restaurant opened at 7:30pm. The settings are casual and unpretentious. The taste was delicious but we expected the dishes to be more of a fusion between Asian and French influences. Overall, we would perhaps come back for lunch instead.

6 of us for Saturday lunch to celebrate my dad's birthday. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was absolutely perfect. We had some fantastic chablis which was very well priced like much of the wine list. The food was beautifully presented, fresh and clean flavours and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

Hands down the best food within a large radius. We had the summer menu ceviche which was literally the best ceviche we have ever had having travelled the world; the veal which was also perfectly prepared and outstandingly executed; the special fish on this day was also outstanding. It is sad that tourist visit aggressively mediocre restaurants in St Emilion in the age of free flowing information.

Excellent restaurant in Pomerol. They have a three course menu for both lunch and dinner. They also have a monthly three course lunch special menu which was excellent. My friend and I had reserved a table for noon and the restaurant kindly accommodated our request for a later seating, at short notice. We opted for the March lunch special menu, which only cost €27 excluding drinks. We had a mushroom soup with pork served garnished with croutons and seaweed for starters. The main dish was a white fish served with scallops and grains in a delicious white sauce. The dessert was an unusual rice pudding with caramelised pear and sea salt, caramel sauce. The restaurant had only been open for two days post winter and did not have English menus available. However, the manager was kind enough to explain the menu to us. Service was quick and efficient and the restaurant was very busy. The decor is a little dated, but the food Outweighs that. The only challenge was the lack of Internet availability on that day, meaning we had to pay by cash which luckily we did have. Parking is available behind the restaurant and on the road front. Considering it was winter, and the restaurant had just opened again, the the place was full which is a testament to the quality of the food. A definite recommend.

Great restaurant in an out of the way position. Service was great, waiter was very good with recommendations and the food was tasty. Great combination of fish with risotto. Will definitely be going back

French restaurant
La Terrasse Rouge is a restaurant located on the rooftop of Chateau La Dominique, featuring a spectacular red glass design by Jean Nouvel. The restaurant offers a wide selection of wines from Domaines Fayat, along with other French bottles. The menus are crafted using market-fresh ingredients and showcase the stunning vineyard views. The terrace is adorned with shiny red pebble glass, creating an incredible landscape that sets the scene for an exceptional dining experience.
If you have not been here, definitely add it to your bucket list. An extraordinary culinary experience in a phenomenal rooftop location with an exciting menu and local wines that are off the charts!

This restaurant offers a beautiful setting right in the vineyard with stunning views that really enhance the dining experience. The service was excellent—attentive, professional, and very welcoming from start to finish. The food was good and enjoyable. Overall, a wonderful spot to visit, especially for the atmosphere and service.

The scenery, watching the sunset was amazing. The whole vibe of the restaurant was phenomenal. The food and drinks were the best in the region as well. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Wish we had more nights in St. Emillion to go back again and again.

We have been coming to the Terrace for many years and love the location, food and choice of fine wines including their own Chateau, Chateau Dominique. However, on this occasion we arrived 1.15pm, placed our order and then waited an hour for our main course even though we enquired its whereabouts and arrived at 2.30pm. Then it was too late for dessert so we left. Very disappointing.

Came here during summer, it’s great!! Food is superb. Wine superb as well. They catered to where we wanted to sit which was with less sun haha.

Wonderful spot the building is a work of art. Food was tasty and well presented. Service was prompt and efficient. They have a good wine list ( they are a winery after all) but also plenty by the glass, pity I was driving.

A warm welcome from the staff as we were shown to our table. We started with two glasses of champagne and the staff kindly brought our dog a bowl of water. Our food was truly excellent across all courses complemented by two glasses of fine wine.

Château La Dominique offers a relaxed dining experience at its terrace restaurant, La Terrasse Rouge. Located on the boundary between Saint Emilion and Pomerol, the chateau provides panoramic views of the vineyards, creating a picturesque backdrop for enjoying culinary delights. Visitors can also partake in guided wine-tasting experiences in the modern tasting room before exploring the boutique shop for souvenirs.
We had a wonderful experience at Chateau La Dominique. The lunch at the restaurant was delicious. It was a rainy day but with a good weather the view should be amazing. The tour and wine tasting was very interesting, the guide was great not only sharing information about the winery (wonderful design project) and the region, but also answering all our questions. I highly recommend it!

We joined a tour to experience the vineyards 🍇, where the winemaking process was explained in full, detailed depth. The staff were incredibly friendly and patiently answered all our questions. The tasting sessions were delightful—each wine superb! 🍷✨ Naturally, we left with bottles in hand.

Our experience @ La Dominique was wonderful especially with Sonia as our guide. She went through the history of the chateau and was very informative. I loved the rooftop where the glass rubies were reflective if the 3 types of grapes… Merlot, Cabernet savg and Franck. Highly recommend a visit.

After very average sightseeing in Bordeaux, our expectations were low, but both my husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our wine tour at Château la Dominique! It was a scorching 40° outside but the guide showed us the key areas on site and continued the detailed explanation indoors, in a more conducive environment. I learnt so much on the 1 hour tour (Visite La Charme) and the guide patiently answered all our questions in English and French. The tour concluded with a tasting of 3 wines, which once again explained the nuances of drinking wine. The vineyard itself is beautiful, with stunning views. Absolutely loved the entire experience and highly recommend it.

Interesting and definitely you must see place in Saint-Ėmilion AOC Grand Cru Classé Château. Another Michel Rollands'wine consultant child. Outstanding new cellar design by Jean Nouvel opened at 2014. 29 hectares, 81% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Barrel ageing between 16 to 18 months; 70% new barrels. Wine style, especially famous in Bordeaux, for a spicy character - a black pepper and a smoke dominated with cherries, redcurrants and blackberries. Perfect match with a grill. Neighbour of Cheval Blanc, Figeac and La Conseillante. Good Restaurant 'Le Terrasse Rouge' on the top floor with a rich selection of French wines and menu dominated by stakes. Beautiful view. Open for everyone by apointments. Check a website to book your visit.
