Palazzo Trinci is a Renaissance-era residence turned museum that showcases local archaeology and medieval history. Located in the heart of the city, it was once the home of the noble Trinci family who ruled from 1305 to 1539. The palace now houses a museum complex with richly decorated rooms, featuring collections from the Civic Art Gallery and exhibits on the history of the territory in its Archaeological Museum and Multimedia Museum of Tournaments, Jousts, and Games.
A hidden gem in the heart of Foligno. Unassuming at first… until you are inside! Do yourself a favour and don’t miss out in this one. There’s a bit of everything for you here: art, architecture, archaeology, history… It’s much bigger than it seems from the outside, so budget a few hours and enjoy.

A secret place for every cultural Umbria-visitor because Folignio is not on the main tourist trail. Unique wall paintings, so amazing to find in this beautiful little town, and the unique Palazzo Trinci built by the Milano Scala architect.

Cathedral

Churches & Cathedrals
The Foligno Cathedral, dedicated to San Feliciano, suffered damage from seismic events in 1997 and 2006, rendering it unusable. However, its external beauty still captivates visitors. The Umbrian Romanesque facade boasts an impressive portal sculpted by masters Rodolfo and Binello. The cathedral's construction dates back to 1113-1201 on the site where the patron saint of the city was martyred in 251 AD.
Today we were just able to see this cathedral from the outside but the architecture and ornamentation are beautiful and very interesting. I especially find the various lion statues to have particular personalities. I would love to learn more and have a more thorough visit

Dedicated to Saint Felician: It is dedicated to the patron saint of the city, Saint Felician, the first bishop of Foligno, martyred in 251 AD. The cathedral stands on the site of his burial. * Ancient Origins: Built on the site of a previous basilica, its origins date back to the 9th-10th centuries, with a first significant renovation in 1133. * Witness to History: It has undergone numerous restorations and modifications over the centuries, reflecting the historical and artistic changes of the region. Architecture: * Double Façade: It features two distinct façades: the main, simpler one, and a second façade overlooking Piazza della Repubblica, considered a jewel of Romanesque architecture from 1201, the work of masters Rodolfo and Binello. This façade is adorned with sculptures with classical references, a portal with profiles of the sun, moon, and stars, and internal arches decorated with the signs of the zodiac. * Different Styles: The cathedral is an example of the fusion of architectural styles, from Romanesque to Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical, the result of the various phases of construction and restoration. * Neoclassical Interior: The interior was radically transformed in the Neoclassical style between 1772 and 1819 according to a project by Giuseppe Piermarini. * 16th-Century Dome: It has an elegant 16th-century dome, the work of Giuliano di Baccio D'Agnolo. * Romanesque Crypt: It preserves the crypt, the oldest part of the church, with architectural remains from the pre-Romanesque period. Art and Culture: * Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament: Noteworthy is the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, built in 1527 by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, with frescoes by Vespasiano Strada and Baldassare Croce depicting the life of Saint Felician. * Silver Statue of Saint Felician: Inside, there is a valuable silver statue of the patron saint. * Baroque Baldachin: Above the high altar stands a carved and gilded wooden baldachin from 1698, inspired by Bernini's baldachin in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. * Diocesan Capitular Museum: Adjacent to the cathedral, in the Palazzo delle Canoniche, is the Diocesan Capitular Museum which houses works of art from the cathedral and the diocese, including the recently restored crypt. * Confession of Angela of Foligno: The cathedral was the place where the Blessed Angela of Foligno made her confession to the Franciscan friar Arnaldo.

Mentioned on
Spello, a charming ancient town in the province of Perugia, Italy, is nestled on the lower southern slope of Mount Subasio. With its medieval streets and ancient churches, it offers a rich history dating back to pre-Etruscan times and Roman colonization. Visitors can admire well-preserved landmarks like the Porta Venere, an Augustan-era town gate. While nearby Assisi and Orvieto attract many tourists, Spello's picturesque beauty often goes unnoticed.

The Palazzo Comunale, a magnificent historical structure located in the heart of Foligno, was constructed during the 13th century and serves as the city hall. Situated at the crossing of four streets, this architectural marvel presents itself prominently to observers. In line with Romanesque traditions adopted for its construction, the Duomo is an integral part of this complex.
(Translated by Google) Earthquakes... This 13th-century palace stands out prominently in the central Piazza della Repubblica, although its initial reconstruction took place between the 16th and 17th centuries, when it was enlarged to include the former Palazzo dei Priori and Palazzo del Capitano. It was rebuilt several times due to earthquakes, so much so that in the 1997 earthquake the lantern, also known as the torrino, the tower that tops the Palazzo Comunale, collapsed. It was restored after 10 years, and the columns surmounting a series of arches support the base on which the lantern then rises. (Original) I terremoti...

During my trip to Italy, I had the pleasure of dining at Ristorante Il Cavaliere in Rome. Out of all the meals I enjoyed in various cities like Perugia, Florence, and Courmayeur, this restaurant stood out as a culinary gem. The food was exceptional, with a clean and simple yet utterly delicious taste. The staff were also incredibly friendly and accommodating towards our group of Australians trying their best to speak Italian.
The most delicious meal I have had in Umbria in almost three years! I highly recommend eating here if you are in or even close to Foligno. We started with an amazing cheese tasting and Pane Fritto which came with stracciatella, mortadella, and prosciutto. The cheese tasting was one of the best I have ever had. All of them were so unique and delicious. The pasta course was fantastic! We had a gnocchi with sagrantino, mezzi paccheri in a white ragù, and I had the tagliatelle with porcini, truffle, and a gorgonzola fondue. All of them were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing! We then had a tagliata with olive oil and rosemary. Beautifully cooked and seasoned. Dessert was equally delicious. My favorite was their take on a tiramisu. Beyond good. The service was outstanding and everyone was very friendly. If you ever have the opportunity to dine here you will not be disappointed at all. I can’t wait to go back again. Great job to the staff and the Chefs are outstanding!!! Thank you for a wonderful dinner from start to finish!!

A beautiful lunch. I have been traveling in Italy for 2 months and this was my favorite restaurant experience. I am a solo traveler and it’s always so nice to be received well as just one. I recommend the beef with Gorgonzola sauce and the lovely fennel salad with fresh orange and crispy pistachio. Highly recommend.

This is a beautiful friendly restaurant in the center of Foligno, Italy. The food is a step above some of the other restaurants in the area. You can feel the personal touch in the food. And another great touch is they have an English version of the menu. Service was quick and the serving staff were friendly and professional. Recommended.

What a privilege to have found this restaurant! Best meal we had in our two weeks in Italy. They accommodated us even when fully booked and we showed up without a reservations. The home-made pasta with truffle, pistachio and ricotta was heavenly, the meat with Gorgonzola was amazing, and the prosecco nice and cold. And all at reasonable prices with excellent service. They owners are absolutely lovely - looked after us and came out after to chat. Highly recommended!

La botteguccia del Campo 64 is a charming and hidden gem in Italy, offering an authentic and unique dining experience. There's no menu; instead, the affable owner serves delicious bites made from extremely fresh organic ingredients. The warm and funny personality of the owner adds to the welcoming environment. Guests are treated to a fixed menu with local delicacies from Colfiorito, including fresh truffle and other regional products.
This is truly a hidden gem! We arrived for lunch when they were supposed to open. Our Italian friend knocked on the door and we were told to come back in 15 minutes as the ricotta wasn't ready yet. This is a good sign! When we arrived back after 15 minutes, we were treated to a fantastic lunch. There's no menu. You sit down and the affable owner just starts to bring you delicious bite after delicious bite. We enjoyed local cured meats, cheeses (the ricotta was great, but the fresh mozzarella with grated black truffles was divine), a stew made with the 5th quarter (offal), beans and lentils, salad, and pasta with more freshly grated truffles. The food was all amazing and the staff were a lot of fun. I highly, highly recommend this place!

This is a great restaurant. It is quite popular and hard to get seat, even with a reservation. The menu, as mentioned by other posts is a fixed price €25 feast. We had 20 different dishes, some small (a scoop of homemade ricotta), and some large ( homemade pasta with truffles). All are delicious. Our feast lasted 3 hours! We even had to pass on a lamb dish as we were to stuffed. The owner and chef is wonderful, along with an exceptional and hardworking staff.

It was a difficult decision to rate this 3 or 4 stars. Worth a visit if you're nearby for good local food. Very local (with no English spoken) and a lively, very engaged owner. Good food experience as each dish is a surprise, very tasty and with lots of it. Very popular with local Italians and some slightly bewildered-looking tourists. Tried some interesting dishes including a home made chicken liver pate, a local semi-raw pork starter (similar to rilettes), and a tasty lentil soup. Quite a fun spot, although not the most relaxing experience.

The trattoria in Umbria, Trattoria del Corso Foligno, offers exceptional food that surpasses many upscale establishments in Bologna, Napoli, and Rome. The quality and deliciousness of the cuisine make it a standout choice. It was enjoyed every day during the visit to Umbria due to its affordability and delectable taste. Despite feeling a bit self-conscious about returning without a reservation each night, there was no need for embarrassment as the staff warmly welcomed their return.
If you're anywhere near Foligno, don't miss Trattoria del Corso. And make sure you book a reservation. It's such a bargain. We were a party of four and every single thing we ordered was delicious – including the local wine, and freshly homemade desserts and coffee. With only about 18 chairs inside, and a friendly staff, Trattoria del Corso just oozes charm. It's like eating at your nonna's house – if your nonna was a world-class chef. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a meal so much.

Nice environment (dining in the garden), friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices. For us, the portions of meat were too big, but many people will like this.
Huibert M — Google review
An overall nice and charming place with good service. Just do not take the chicken cutlet! After reading good reviews for this place, some friends and I ate at this restaurant and overall I had a good impression of the place, up until the point when I ate the food I had ordered, a chicken cutlet. The food was stringy and tasted a bit acid and unpleasant. It was such a bad taste, I had difficulties finishing it. Of course, also the other people who had taken the chicken cutlet were displeased, however those who took other dishes seemed happy. Another issue I have is with the person at the cashier: after paying (only cash payment were accepted) I asked the others whether anyone had been given a receipt but that was not the case. I am not saying he did not wrote a receipt, but he certainly did not give it to us. Moreover, he overcharged us by just a few euros, to “round up the price” and did so without asking. Usually, in my experience, the opposite happens and you get a small discount, so I cannot say I was happy with it. We were a bit shocked but we did not say anything, because arguing for such a trivial thing is not worth, but I later found that the behaviour really bothered me. This is a pity, because the service was honestly impeccable and the place really nice. I hope more attention will be placed in the future as to the quality of the food and the behaviour at the cash register.

The BEST food we had in Umbria, and better than many fancy-pants restaurants in Bologna, Napoli, & Rome. (I know, I know . . . regional cuisine is different depending on where you are . . . but I'm drawing the comparison based on quality and tastiness of the food.) We literally ate here every single day that we were in Umbria. So tasty and yet affordable. I was a little embarrassed that we would return every night without a reservation. But my husband was like, why be embarrassed? Their food is so good, and they're so used to us, they'll probably just laugh when they see us. And they did. Lovely trattoria experience. Mio marito and I will treasure our excellent meals at this family-run gem.
Meli L — Google review
My pasta had no taste, and the dessert was okay but had so much sauce I needed to scoop it out of the plate. But the worst part was the checkout, when they literally made up numbers so the check was €43 instead of €35, which is what we spent according to the menu. The guy inputting the numbers initially input the price for the gnocchi and the pasta, €10 + €12, and then erased it and input €12 + €14 + €2. 🤌

We made a reservation for 10 at 8 pm on a Monday night, but night of a soccer game between Italy and Croatia. The place was busy. Regretfully, I took no pictures of any food. But it was one of the best meals we’ve had overall in a long time. (And we are a group of foodies). Service was impeccable. Everybody was kind and accommodating. Every pizza was fantastic, the special pizza with basil was to die for and Gorgonzola with sausage also a winner. Crust and dough light and airy, Neapolitan style. Fried calamari, octopus in a sauce also beautiful. Panda cotta, pistachio tiramisu, and lemon sorbet were fantastic ends to the meal. The price ended up being quite reasonable for 10 people who ate and drank the night away. We will be back . Grazie mille!

Absolutely fabulous place, really worth visiting!!! The nicest staff, also speaks English, very welcoming, artistic decor with a great attention to detail (beautiful plates, Murano water glasses) and the food is simply to die for. (Translated by Google) The time spent at the table of polite service was exhausting, I don't want to make matters worse, but even between one course and another, the wait was truly unnerving, and it wasn't even a lavish dinner! The innkeeper Damiano put a bit of his creativity into it, giving away a small tasting of cured meats for free, a truly appreciated move, as were the cold cuts. Forgiven! A lost order? An oversight? It can happen! Patience! Forgiveness is not denied to anyone, but trust can never be recovered!
