The Grande Arche de la Défense is a 110-meter steel and stone monument shaped like a hollow cube, which is illuminated at night. Visitors can spend more than a day exploring the business district, starting with access to the 110-meter high rooftop offering panoramic views of Paris.
A Modern Marvel in Paris I was truly impressed when I first saw the Grande Arche de la Défense. Even more so when I learned it was built in the 1980s — I honestly thought it was just 5 or 10 years old! Its modern design feels so fresh and timeless. What makes it even more fascinating is the alignment: the Grande Arche sits perfectly on the “Axe historique” — a straight line that connects some of Paris’s most iconic landmarks, from the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe all the way out here to La Défense. Standing there, you feel like you’re part of a living timeline of Parisian history, stretching from past to present. Paris never ceases to amaze at every turn, and the Grande Arche is a must-visit if you want to see how the city blends history with modernity.

Definitely worth a short visit to see the newer and more modern "downtown" area of Paris. The defense plaza has a lot of great shops, mall, restaurants and other things to do while you hang out downtown. I decided not to go up in the observation deck but just enjoying a relaxing morning loitering around the area and sightseeing the building architecture and designs. Thankful that it's a clear sunshiny day because it lends to better pictures with the right angle. Recommended to plan for 1 to 2 hours walking around the downtown area.
Bret B — Google review
The Grand Arch in La Defense district is truly a marvel to behold. It is relatively new and therefore does not come to mind for many people travelling to Paris. If you have the time however, I would highly recommend visiting the arch as it does stand out as one of the most awe-inspiring architectural marvels I have ever come across.
Minh N — Google review
The Grande Arche de la Défense is not just an architectural wonder—it is Paris’s modern face, a striking counterpoint to its historic landmarks. Visiting it provides a refreshing perspective on the city: a balance between heritage and innovation, tradition and progress.
Muhammad M — Google review
A modern architectural masterpiece located in the business district of La Défense, west of Paris. Completed in 1989, it was designed by Danish architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen as a 20th-century reinterpretation of the Arc de Triomphe, symbolizing peace and humanitarian ideals rather than military victory. The Grande Arche stands 110 meters high and is perfectly aligned with the historical axis of Paris, connecting the Louvre, the Champs-Élysées, and the Arc de Triomphe. Visitors can take an elevator to the rooftop terrace for one of the best panoramic views of Paris. A fascinating detail: the building’s structure is slightly tilted forward by about 6 degrees a deliberate choice to create a sense of openness toward the world.
Patrizia P — Google review
A modern version of the Arc de Triomphe straight down the Av. Charles de Gaulle at the La Défense metro station. I didn’t realise just how large this was going to be and I’m so glad it had recently become lit up for the evenings so you could really appreciate the scale, the night after we visited the lights were off again. Definitely worth a visit to see the more modern part of down town Paris. All glass and metal in comparison to stone.
Jamie H — Google review
Crowed and noisy, la Defence is a great place to get robbed. Never relax there, I grabbed a cup of coffee, and my phone was stollen in no time. The other time, in a pity attempt to find a metro station I had to walk the exotic streets of the district, shortly to learn that actually I was at level -7 and then at -1 through a parking and more creepy corners I managed to find the stairs to get to the main square. The metro is a separate story. If you like escape games, feel free to try to find the right train at Grande Arche. Oh, and if the trains will work, because in 2 weeks I had 3 situations, when they were canceled and I had to take the alternatives, that are much longer.
Hanna P — Google review
Impressive monument. Did not know about the alignment with l’arc de triomphe until after I left. Currently there are Christmas Markets on the plaza (until 28 December 2025) which were so much fun.

Shopping mall
Westfield Les 4 Temps is a massive shopping destination located in the La Defense business district, offering an unparalleled retail experience in Paris. With over 250 stores and numerous dining options, this four-story glass-encased mall showcases a wide range of French and international brands. In addition to shopping, visitors can enjoy a 16-screen movie theater, a hypermarket, and Le Dome, an outdoor terrace with stunning city views. Throughout the year, the mall hosts various events including concerts.
It is one of the largest shopping centre if not the biggest in Paris where you can find a variety of brands and services with a wide range of options when it comes to dining out. I recommend visiting this shopping centre if you are out and about in La Défense district of Paris!

This mall has a lot to offer — good shops, a fun arcade, and friendly employees. I even left five-star reviews for some of the food places here because the service was excellent. The arcade itself is a great place to spend time, and the staff inside are welcoming. Unfortunately, my experience with the mall’s security really brought the visit down. One guard in the arcade was overly strict for no reason. He didn’t believe me when I explained that I don’t speak French — I’m here visiting family — and treated me as if I had done something wrong, even though arcade staff were fine with me being there. The next day, he kept trying to get my attention when I was just enjoying time with my friend, only stopping when another family asked for his help. I also saw him make a kid flip his hat backwards, which served no purpose. On another occasion, a different security guard told me to get up from the floor even though all the chairs were full and I wasn’t disturbing anyone. Situations like this make visitors feel singled out instead of welcomed. I really wanted to leave this place a positive review, but after these experiences with security, I can’t. If management takes steps to address this, I’ll happily update my review when I come back at Christmas. The mall and arcade are great — it’s just the security behavior that needs improvement.

Westfield Les 4 Temps, located in La Défense, is one of the largest shopping centers in Europe and certainly one of the busiest in the Paris region. Its modern architecture and prime location in the heart of the business district make it a must-visit spot for anyone looking to combine shopping, dining, and entertainment in a practical and lively setting. From the moment you step inside, you’re struck by the size of the place and the sheer variety of stores, making it easy to spend several hours exploring. Strengths: A very wide selection with over 200 shops, from major international brands to more specialized stores. Plenty of dining options, ranging from quick bites to sit-down restaurants, suitable for all budgets. A large UGC cinema with multiple screens, perfect for extending your outing after shopping. Excellent accessibility thanks to La Défense station (metro, RER, tram, buses) and a spacious parking area for drivers. Weaknesses: Often crowded, especially on weekends or during sales, which can make the experience tiring. Some restaurants and shops are on the expensive side compared to other areas. Atmosphere can feel a bit impersonal, as is common in very large malls. My opinion: Westfield Les 4 Temps is ideal if you’re looking for variety and convenience all in one place. It’s a great outing—just best to avoid peak hours. Would you like me to go back and rewrite your earlier Paris reviews (like Stade de France or Parc de la Villette) in this same detailed format?

Huge mall with many floors, and a huge food court with many options. I lived shopping in this mall. It is easily accessible by metro from within the zone 1.

I understand you need to paid to use the toilet, but not expect that you need to paid at the mall! Not acceptable A very big mall, variety of food choices. It has no place to sit down , everyone has to sit on the floor.

CNIT, or the National Centre for Industries and Technologies, is a significant business center located in La Defense, just outside Paris. It features a unique triangular vault design resting on three supports and is surrounded by numerous skyscrapers. The area serves as a hub for thousands of people who work in the towers or visit iconic shopping centers like CNIT and Westfield Les 4 Temps. With over 63 million visitors annually, these centers offer plenty of shopping opportunities.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars) A sleek and modern shopping center nestled in the heart of La Défense. The architecture is impressive—especially the triangular vault design—and it's directly connected to the metro, making access super convenient. It’s quieter than Les Quatre Temps across the plaza, which makes for a more relaxed shopping experience. Great for grabbing essentials, browsing Decathlon deals, or enjoying a bite near the Hilton. Not the most extensive mall, but definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Suyog K — Google review
This other part of the westfield is much calmer than the main one across the square, with fewer shops and restaurants options, but with a nice decathlon store with great deals and shoes.
Mike A — Google review
Great modern place to visit while in Paris. Hilton hotel is also located at this location and the subway station underneath the center will get you anywhere you want to go in Paris. Trust me spent at least a few hours here. Plenty of entertainment. Shopping and places to enjoy a nice meal. You can even enjoy a picnic under the arch. We were so happy exploring Paris during the day and enjoying a modern experience in the evenings.
David L — Google review
The mall has a very confusing layout with multiple levels. It was very hard and confusing to access from the street. The variety of shops and restaurants are ok. However, the arcade and game area is very nice and clean.
Morouj A — Google review
Heads up!! Do not attempt to reach this Metro/RER station overnight from inside the Hilton/CNIT/FNAC building. All access points to the station are locked. Only the exterior entrances are open. I lost several minutes trying to get to the station from the Hilton. Only to get to the locked station doors. Up escalators were all turned off. Also cash payment wasn't available when I was able to gain access. Still one of my favorite stations and areas of Paris!

Huge shopping center in the heart area of La Defense. Just in front of the La Defense metro station, you’ll find the big building with parabolic dome and the esplanade just very huge and spacious public area.

This is a nice looking mall just opposite Westfield Les 4 Temps... it has fewer stores.. there is a Hilton restaurant here..I visited Decathlon. Easy to get in, easy to get out..

One of the first structures of the district of La Défense and one of the first structures made of prestressed concrete! The inside is very spacious with relaxing ambience. Nice place for the lunch break. Toilets are for free and very clean.

Nestled in the vibrant 17th arrondissement of Paris, Le Timgad is a culinary gem that has been delighting diners since 1971. Just a short stroll from La Defense station, this restaurant specializes in authentic Moroccan cuisine, offering an array of dishes like couscous, tajines, and pastillas. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between traditional and modern Moroccan decor, creating a warm and inviting dining experience.
A great find near the Mercure Hotel serving Moroccan food and open on a Sunday evening. We had the Princier Couscous, the lamb tagine and the chicken tagine followed by a couple of traditional desserts - delicious food, wonderful staff.

one of the best moroccan couscous i have been to. Nice lunch menus. portions are generous. it is a definite repeat.

I went to Paris for a business trip with a moroccan coworker and had some time off in the evening. When I saw this restaurant on maps we of course had to go to it. I have not had any proper moroccan food before and my coworker guided me through the whole experience. The waiters are extremely friendly and hospitable. Atmosphere was a 10/10. We will be back for more tomorrow.

Nice restaurant with moroccan dishes. I had a very tasty lamb tajine. You should try it if you want to try something different
Andreea M — Google review
Great service and big space. The couscous was really nice, the meat was tender and we liked that the lamb did not have that strong gamey taste. Highly recommended, no wonder it is so popular!

Veery delecious , you have to come here . Its the first time i try a Moroccan couscous and tagine , i am used to the tunisian one . It was an amazing discovery. The service is great as well

One of the best meals we have ever had. And the most amazing people serving us, kind, funny, understanding our silly attempts to speak poor French with such grace one couldn't imagine. Plus a beer on the house. Lamb tahine citron is something I want to eat when I go to heaven ♥️.
Miroslava V — Google review
We had a lovely meal and even though the terrace is on a fairly busy road it is well screened off and very pleasant. Food was tasty and the staff were friendly and attentive. You can tell it's a good place when it is packed with locals. Met a helpful couple who guided us to a great selection of food. 😃

L'Escargot 1903 is a high-end restaurant in Puteaux with a summer terrace that offers creative and seasonal French cuisine. They were kind enough to accept my small dog, and the food was amazing - I would highly recommend it! The service was also really good, and I would definitely return.
One of the best small restaurants I have experienced in Paris. Very personal service, delightful atmosphere, excellent food. And a surprisingly quaint location
Chris T — Google review
The restaurant was nice and comfortable and staff courteous and friendly. Food was good, although being non beef eaters put us at a disadvantage as some of the plats where the original recipe included meat was served to us without the meat. We would have expected the beef to be replaced with some other meat that we eat (likely bird or porc). Like in one of the plats, we were served only tomatoes while my friends who eat beef were served beef. Dessert was good and the surprise element of the menu was a nice idea. Overall a good experience.

Food was good! Wine was good. Price is good. We went out really stuffed. The chef comes out to serve food every now and then. One thing that I didn't appreciate (and do not expect for a michelin guide restaurant) is that when one of the servers served the appetizer, I saw there was a strand of hair and the server tried pushing it off the plate by poking her finger on the plate, and instead of apologizing she just said "oh, that's not hair, that's just from the coffee beans". I guess she realized it was hair, so she grabbed the plate and didn't say anything, didn't apologize, nothing. Just ran off with the plate. She gave us a new one, but still... I think it would have been nice to say something.

Saperlipopette is a chic french restaurant with a terrace that presents sophisticated cuisine and wine pairings. The food was amazing and the service was great. The waiter who looked after us was amazingly friendly, and we were looked after so well all night. The food was just amazing, with the beef being the best ever tasted in life. Thank you Saperlipopette!
Ambiance 10/10 Food 10/10 Just perfect restaurant for a date or friends gathering. The service is great. The food is superb. We just loved the apple pie. It’s bit expensive, but the price is worth to pay. Better to have a reservation before barging in. We are surely going to try it again. We just loved it

At Saperlipopette Bistrot everything tasted just as good as it looked! The service was very attentive and the interior design and ambiance also very appealing. Highly recommended!
Alessandro — Google review
Saperlipopette is a real find just ten minutes’ walk from La Défense. The atmosphere is chic without being stiff, with a stylish décor that feels both modern and inviting. We chose the 39 € menu and it was excellent from start to finish: generous portions, seasonal flavors, and beautifully presented dishes that struck the right balance between creativity and comfort. The service was warm and attentive, adding to the relaxed but refined setting. For the quality offered, the menu is great value, making this a perfect spot for lunch or dinner. Highly recommended for a memorable French bistro experience.

Vietnamese restaurant
Hanoi Ca Phe, a popular eatery in Paris La Defense, is renowned for its genuine Thai fare. The extensive menu offers delectable options such as sizable Nems, beef and lemongrass-infused XAO BO rice noodles, and the ever-popular fried chicken rice. For those seeking more diverse choices, curry dishes like chicken or fish bowls and tantalizing chicken satay are also available. Vegetarian selections are not to be overlooked either.
A great option for Vietnamese cuisine. The food was awesome and delicious. We were at happy hour and ordered the platter available for 2 to 3 persons, which included a variety of items. All the items in the platter were very tasty, but it was not fully enough for 2 persons. So, make sure that if two people are really hungry, this won’t be enough. The cocktails also had a wonderful feeling. The service was very much satisfactory.

Very nice staff and good service ! Original design - stylish presentation of the food with a ritual to serve. The meat was well cooked but for someone who has experienced many phos maybe not so authentic - yet good experience and yummy.
Gregoire — Google review
Over all it's good, forgot to ask salty soya sauce in my padthai noodles, it was sweet and I did not liked it, but desserts awesome, during 12 to 1 pm too crowded and noisy
Naru S — Google review
This place is a complete scam! The menu is misleading, the wait is excruciating, and the food is absolutely terrible. It was the worst meal I’ve ever had in Paris! We ordered the Pot-Ô-Phó (€18.90) and the Giant Banh‑Mi (€18.90). The menu says rice noodles, thinly sliced beef, pickled carrots/red onion, and spiced broth for the Pot-Ô-Phó, and crispy chicken, Maggi mayo, pickled carrot & cucumber, lettuce, and cilantro for the Banh‑Mi. After a 45-minute wait, we finally got our food. The Phở arrived in a kettle, but the soup was bland. The beef wasn’t thinly sliced at all; it was more like a thick piece of meat with a strong, organ-like flavor. There were no pickled carrots or red onion, which is what the menu said. The Banh‑Mi was even worse. It was mostly just a baguette with lettuce and mayo, filled with mushrooms, not chicken. There were no pickled carrots or cucumbers either. It didn’t even resemble a banh‑mi by any reasonable standard. For the price and the 4.5★ rating, this was a major letdown. The food was seriously disgusting. Take a look at that thick meat in the picture. “Thinly sliced beef?” It was a gross organ-like piece of flesh. The restaurant wasn’t even half full at the time, and they kept saying there were too many orders. What a joke! The food was so bad that it was disgusting. I’ve attached the menu and the dishes from the same visit for reference.

the waitress put me in the middle of these. All utensils and cups arebvery dirty on my table. Waited for a very long time for someon eto take the order but no one ever came. All tables are messy and they dont intend to clean. Left without ordering
Charlotte W — Google review
We have ordered Beef Pho, Rice noodles, Pad thai on Saturday. The beef pho is the mildest taste of Pho we have tried, the soap is as mild as water, the beef is un-chewable, i can tell it is just boiled in water, not cooked to soft. Rice noodles, thank you for only giving us only a spoon of dressing to mix with, they must think it is enough to give the whole bowl of noodles favour. Pad thai, i would suggest you go to Costco get the frozen Pad Thai. The fried chicken with caramelised source, that is HoiSin source you can get in any Asian grocery store. The food was awful, we did not know what we were eating, just plain clean starch, thank you for keeping us fit.

The restaurant is good ; this comment is destined to the bar of the Pullman hotel. Went there around 11pm with colleagues staying there, when the bar was supposed to close at midnight and we were received very poorly by the man behind the bar. Extremely disrespectful and speaking to clients like they are idiots - never a worse hospitality ever. Was very clear that he did not want to serve us and prompted us to come back next day for breakfast. Treated like scum for a late drink when you pay that kind of money for a room is just unacceptable.
