Nature & Parks
Richmond Park is an expansive walled park that was originally a 17th-century hunting ground and is still home to hundreds of deer. The area also boasts notable edifices such as Hampton Court, Richmond Palace, White Lodge, and Strawberry Hill. Additionally, visitors can explore Kew Gardens and the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington. The park offers stunning views from King Henrys Mound and provides a variety of dining options in the surrounding area.
Such a beautiful beautiful park! It’s so vast that you can walk around for the whole day and there’ll still be places left unexplored. It’s hands down one of the best green spaces in London. The park has this peaceful, wild atmosphere that’s hard to find in London. There are open grasslands, wooded areas, little ponds, and loads of walking and cycling paths that can keep you exploring for hours. If you’re lucky, you will find deer casually wandering around. You can walk, run, bike, or simple chill under a tree, it feels amazing to do so, connecting with nature and with your own thoughts. You can also get some great views over London from King Henry’s Mound. I went on a sunny weekend and the crowd wasn’t much as expected. The park is so big that if you walk a bit further in, you’ll always find quiet spots. And if you are a Ted Lasso fan, you’ll find places in Richmond that you’d have seen in the series. Highly recommend the place!

Richmond Park is one of my favorite escapes from the city—it feels like stepping into the countryside without actually leaving London. The best part has to be the wildlife. Seeing the deer up close is always a bit magical, especially when they’re just calmly grazing or wandering across the paths like they own the place. There are also loads of birds and little hidden corners where you can spot rabbits or just enjoy the quiet. Every time I go, it feels a bit different depending on the season. Food-wise, there are a couple of really good spots to grab something. I love stopping at Pembroke Lodge for a coffee or lunch—it’s got such a nice view and a relaxed vibe. But honestly, bringing a picnic is just as fun because the park has endless space to spread out. It’s easy to find your own little patch of grass where you can sit for ages, people-watch, or just enjoy being surrounded by all that green. The Isabella Plantation is definitely a highlight if you like gardens. In spring it’s absolutely bursting with color, but even outside of that, it’s such a calm and pretty place to wander around. The little streams and winding paths make it feel really tucked away, almost like a secret garden. Between the open fields, the wildlife, and spots like this, Richmond Park always feels like a proper day out—peaceful but never boring.

I visited Richmond Park last Saturday and had an amazing time. It’s such a peaceful place where you can truly relax and enjoy nature🏔️🏝️. You can go jogging, cycling, or even horse riding there. I saw beautiful birds, deer, and lots of other wildlife . it’s the perfect spot to unwind and feel refreshed.🏕️🏝️

I feel so fortunate to live near such a beautiful place and its amazing to have such a large slice of nature with deer roaming around withing London. Equally beautiful in every season and perfect place for dog walking. Also seems to be better managed in recent years with upgraded cafes, improved signs and traffic control measures.

100% recommend strolling through Richmond Park. Very peaceful. Full of wildlife. The deer are beautiful and quite tolerant to people. Great escape from the busyness of the city and not far away. Don’t miss out on this one. Definitely a hidden gem if you are visiting the area.

One of my favourite places in London, to spend time away from busy city but in the same time being so close to... Great place to recharge, relax and watch beautiful and majestic animals such a deers are, besides so many different types of birds, squirrels. Isabella Plantation, it is in the middle of Park I would recommend any time of the year. Just beautiful.

Richmond Park is absolutely amazing! 🦌 It’s such a beautiful and peaceful place where you can see lots of deer up close — from cute baby deer to huge stags that you definitely shouldn’t get too close to! 😅 The park is massive, and you can easily spend a whole day exploring it. Besides the deer, there are stunning gardens, beautiful trees, and so many lovely walking paths to enjoy nature at its best. 🌳🌸 It was such a wonderful experience — I totally recommend visiting this gorgeous park. You’ll love every minute of it!
M K — Google review
We absolutely love coming here. It’s gorgeous in the autumn and the dogs love it. There are a lot of cyclists on the weekend - many of which can be inconsiderate of pedestrians and ride dangerously. The authorities should have stricter controls on them before there is an accident. But apart from that, a fairy tale royal park

Marble Hill is a Palladian villa nestled in 66 acres of riverside parkland, standing as the last elegant villa built on the Thames in the 18th century. Constructed for Henrietta Howard, mistress of King George II, this historic site was designed by a circle of fashionable aesthetes including poet Alexander Pope. The interior boasts exquisite Georgian artworks and hand-painted Chinese wallpaper, offering visitors a glimpse into fashionable Georgian life.
This English heritage site, free to access, offered a wealth of history to explore during a Sunday stroll. The site became particularly captivating when you spoke to the volunteers, who brought the stories to life. There was ample green outdoor space for walking, running, and for dogs and children to play.
Saruul A — Google review
This free to visit English Heritage site can be viewed in 15-30 minutes. It’s not huge but starts with a few minute video, then able to see 6-8 recreated rooms. The volunteers were wonderful in sharing extra details and rooms interesting, with great views from the upper floors. Gardens in the back lovely as well, and cafe a two minute walk away in the former stables block. Toilets onsite at both the house and cafe. Car park is pricy but free on street parking or accessible via public transit.
Becky T — Google review
As the home of Henrietta Howard, Countess of Suffolk, Marble Hill House is as beautiful as it is inspiring as it was built entirely from the designs of the Countess herself. From tragic beginnings to being in the upper ranks of society, the Countess made the house her own and there's a lot to learn here as you take in the details, the people and the events that shaped the house as it became a staple of life in leafy Richmond. The volunteers on hand are extremely knowledgeable in every aspect of the house and the Countess, and it's all free to peruse at your leisure. Be sure to check out the garden surrounding the house where the Countess entertained her guests - it's beautiful just to take it all in. Definitely a place to visit if you happen to be in this neck of the woods.

Marble Hill House is looked after by English Heritage and is free entry. The house itself had a few rooms to wonder through, and the room guides seemed fairly knowledgeable. Outside there is grounds to wonder through, including gardens and an ice house. For the children there is a family guide where they can go looking for things etc, which seemed to keep our daughter entertained!

Lovely stately home that’s well worth a visit. Has a small shop and beautiful lawn. Areas nearby to picnic or sit and a children’s playground about 10 minutes away near the river and to the right if you go with your back to the rear of the house.
Andy W — Google review
Marble Hill house is the former home of Henrietta Howard and is the last complete survivor of the elegant villas that bordered the Thames between Richmond and Hampton Court in the 18th century. Henrietta's story is an interesting one, born into the wealthy Hobart family of Blickling Hall in Norfolk she was the mistress of king George II who gifted her the funds to build Marble Hill house. Later the house was owned by Johnathan Peel, the brother of Sue Robert Peel and later again by the Cunard family of shipping fame. Inside the house are numerous portraits including Henrietta, George II and other influential people if the time. There is a mahogany staircase which would have been very expensive and it is believed that George II had a hand in this two. The poet Alexander Pope was a frequent visitor to Marble Hill and was thought to hold a candle for Henrietta but this was not reciprocated. He had a hand in the design of the gardens and was also able to invite his literary friends including Johnathan Swift. Eventually Pope withdrew no doubt due to the fact Henrietta was not romantically attracted to him. The house is managed by English Heritage but is currently free to enter for all. There is a car park which is free for members and chargeable for non members. There are public toilets on the ground floor of the house including an accessible toilet. Refreshments are available at the former stable block a few minutes walk from the house. The gardens and parklands are quite large and again free to all, a great place to picnic, walk your dog, exercise etc. and is close to the Thames path.

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in Richmond is a renowned destination featuring an extensive collection of trees and flowers from all over the world. Visitors can explore vast gardens, expansive greenhouses, and a treetop walkway. The gardens are home to rare and threatened plants housed in the largest Victorian glasshouse globally. Additionally, there are family-friendly exhibitions and events such as Kew the Music, a week-long music festival with acclaimed performers like Lewis Capaldi.
If you live reasonably near it is worthwhile becoming a member. Every visit is different with the seasons changing and there are so many different places to go and enjoy. The little train ride round the gardens is informative and gives insight into just how much space there is here. I love the Japanese house, the rhodendron dell near to it, the students gardens and the evolution garden but there is plenty more to enjoy. Members also get 10% discount in the shop. Photos show the pagoda and an exhibit from one of the orchid festivals.

We visited here for the first time ever last weekend, despite our Daughter living in London. We bought tickets online so that upon arrival they were promptly scanned, no queue whatsoever. Where do I start, the gardens are stunning and the place is so vast. We walked around the perimeter path to start, then we walked everywhere, the large glass houses and conservatories are amazing, there is so much to see. Amenities are great, lots of choices for food, we ate at a Orangery restaurant in the grounds under the grape vines (al fresco dining) the food was amazing, where a main with drinks was only £66 for 3 adults. These gardens are predominantly wheelchair accessible too. We thoroughly enjoyed the Treetop Walkway (which has a lift and stairs) so pushchair users were also able to go up, the views were fantastic. The day was warm, so there were families enjoying picnics in the relaxing grounds. Prepare to sieve a whole day, and for the entrance fee considering this is London, we found the prices to be very reasonable indeed. There is just so much for the whole family. Facilities are extremely good too, with accessible toilets, changing places toilet, baby feeding room, baby change, shop, cafe, information, and water fountains throughout the gardens, there is also a prayer/reflections room, and finally a bus stop. Visiting is a must.

It is one of the most famous and important gardens in the world. It is a historic landscape garden in southwest London, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Charles Darwin’s contributed to Kew Gardens significantly, mainly because Kew houses a large part of the plant specimens he collected during his famous voyage aboard the HMS Beagle from 1831 to 1836. Around 450 of the approximately 1,400 plant specimens Darwin gathered are preserved at Kew, with these collections still actively studied and digitized. Great experience with really a lot of different impressions: - areas with plants from all over the world - treetop walkway Kew Gardens is renowned for its extraordinary glasshouses, which house diverse plant collections from across the globe. The key glasshouses include: - The Palm House: Built between 1844 and 1848, the Palm House is one of the most iconic Victorian glasshouses. It features a tropical rainforest environment and hosts many rare and endangered tropical plants, including the oldest potted plant in the world, - Temperate House: The largest Victorian glasshouse in the world, the Temperate House houses around 10,000 plants of 1,500 species from regions including Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the Americas. - Water Lily House: Built in 1852 and designed by the same architect and ironmaker as the Palm House, the Water Lily House shelters aquatic plants including tropical water lilies. - King George III‘s house King George III’s house in Kew Gardens is known as Kew Palace, also called the Dutch House. Originally built in 1631 as a silk merchant’s mansion, it became the smallest royal palace and served as the summer home of King George III in the 18th century. George III and his wife Queen Charlotte spent many happy summers there with their large family. The palace and its gardens provided a private, intimate retreat from public life, where the king could live more normally without the usual royal ceremony. Really a great experience and you have to plan enough time - or even several visits.

Amazing and beautiful...not enough time in one day so we will be back. We had lunch in the Brasserie and the food was delicious and service was great ...a little pricey though. Also whilst the Christmas light trail is on the Glass Houses close at 2.30 and you need to exit by 3.15 which made the trip a little shorter. Parking is also £9 for the day - which during the shorter opening times at the moment could be reduced?

What can you say about what is one of the best botanical gardens in the world. Love the Marianne North Gallery. The cafes/restaurants are various and should cater to most needs. So much to see at any time of year. Just missed the best of the autumn leaves display on this visit. Took a liking to the Princess of Wales conservatory. A must for any fan of cactii. Also, lots of sculptures around at this time of year ready for the Christmas light show.

Kew Gardens is beautiful- we went on the coldest wettest day and still spent a few hours wondering through the gardens, exploring the greenhouses and stopped at THE ORANGERY for lunch. It was clean with a great selection of food, and friendly helpful staff. We ended up signing up for a year’s membership and are looking forward to going back.

(October) Some pathways and buildings were closed for the season. Large, busy gift shop at the main Victoria entrance, with plants and many souvenir/gift items. Only two cashiers on duty at a busy time meant I opted out of my intended small purchase. Signage throughout the gardens is quite good. Fall colours, Syon Outlook, Treetop Walkway, Temperate House, Great Pagoda, Queen Charlotte’s Cottage, Kew Palace.

Ham House and Garden is a grand 17th-century mansion located in London, known for its extensive art and furniture collection as well as mature riverside gardens. Originally built by Sir Thomas Vavasour in 1610, the mansion was a hub for political activities during the Stuart dynasty. It served as a battleground for courtiers vying for influence and power, showcasing the material wealth of the time through its impressive collection of original furnishings and textiles.
Outstandingly beautiful. Lots of rooms to look with interesting history and the staff there to talk to you about it. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I received my tickets free from a newspaper promotion and whilst the price is a bit steep, this national trust in particular is probably worth. Gardens were interesting and nicely kept. Had some food and coffee at the cafe too which was just average.

Lovely few hours here. House and its history is very interesting. The room guides were great and gave us lots of information. Gardens are very nice and there were lots of outdoor games available to play (badminton, croquet etc). Take a walk along the river when you come out.

What a nice trip out on an autumn day. We started with coffee and then walked through the kitchen and formal gardens. The house is impressive from the outside, but the grounds are amazing. We'd have ventured further if it had been a dry day. We were booked on the weekday conservation tour. We got our tickets at the gate, but the tour was full, so it might be worth booking in advance if that's possible. It was fascinating, and just the right length to set us up for a delicious lunch in the cafe.
Sarah K — Google review
The gardens and walking paths are beautiful. However, quite a few rooms were closed to visitors. Given how much is currently accessible, the entrance fee feels rather steep unless you're a member. Outside the main grounds, there are pleasant walks along the River Thames, with moored boats and even horses nearby accessible without ticket.
P H — Google review
A fascinating historical building surrounded by extensive grounds. As the house didn't open until 12, we had plenty of time to walk round the grounds. The house was extremely interesting and I particularly enjoyed the below stairs rooms, including the bathroom! There is a cafe and shop on site, but we didn't use these. Parking was easy as there was free parking along the road ( disabled parking closer to the house ) and a free car park within easy walking distance. The River Thames is not far from the car park and also worth visiting for a walk or even to pop across to Marble Hill on the ferry.
Stephanie C — Google review
A substantial Stuart period pile built and lived in by a family with far more money than taste. Prepared to change sides and do whatever was necessary to stay on top as owners and adorn Ham House with overly elaborate furniture and many portraits of ancestors with dubious morals. Interesting garden with wonderful topiary parterre. Beautifully preserved by the National Trust and well worth seeing as a historical experience.

Ham House in a lovely spot near the Thames in Richmond. Having watched a number of productions on TV (sense and sensibility and Taboo to name but a few) which this has been featured. Visited 16/6/25 on a lovely summers day. Beautiful house and garden. There is parking a short walk away by the river, they seemed to cater for disabled parking on site. A nice walled garden at the rear with a nice cafe.

Wonderful place! Located at the river side. Clean and spacious with both indoor and outdoor dining area. Set lunch is worth to try. Appetizers look Gorgeous but the main course is a bit small portion. Caring services and must try the dessert! Lovely place for lunch and dinner.

An amazing riverside steak experience alongside the picturesque River Thames in SW14, arguably the most perfect location in London! The service was impeccable, as the waitress juggled through both indoor and outdoor patrons but always maintained a smile despite the infamous British / European heatwave. Kudos to her for her tremendous service. Each dish was faultless despite there being, possibly 100+ guests being served simultaneously! The ribeye was good! Filet was even better, but I was stunned and mesmerised by the sirloin! This was the gold standard. All of starters were exceptional, and probably required several additional top ups! The salad was very green, and executed to perfection despite this being a steakhouse, as attention and due care was given here! As for the dessert, you only need to look at the readiness of the patrons roaring to attack! The crumble definitely was the choice to be had! Overall… exceptional…

Had a spontaneous lunch at Gaucho today with a friend and our server, Mathew, was absolutely fantastic. He’s easily one of the best waiters I’ve ever had — warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive. He made sure we were comfortable and checked in throughout without ever being intrusive. His service really made our experience special, and I would highly recommend him to anyone dining here! Wishing you all the best Mathew!!

Lovely setting but too many tables outside making it feel very cramped. Food was good but small portion size but for £20 it was OK. I had the 3 course special menu for £19.95. Which in itself is good value but be careful if your offered bottled water it's £5 and olives are £5 fir about ten olives. Wine is £10 a glass minimum, beer is £7.50 a glass. Very overpriced for 1/2 pint. Great service and didn't have to wait long for food.

A great riverside lunch spot! Very beautiful restaurant in a perfect location. Food very good, I had the pumpkin ravioli which was delicious and my friend had the chicken Milanese - also very delicious. We shared the chocolate torte for dessert which was heavenly! Reasonable prices, great choice of drinks. Would highly recommend for a nice lunch. Big shout out to our server Matthew who was wonderful - he definitely knows his stuff and was very friendly 😊

Hi Gauto team, I just wanted to say thank you for looking after us so well during our visit. From the start, Scarlett took amazing care of us – she was so attentive, helpful, and really listened to our needs. Later, we were also looked after by her colleague from Istria, Croatia, and an Asian gentleman who carried things on so smoothly. All three were great, but Scarlett in particular really made us feel welcome, and we’re very grateful for her service. The only small things we weren’t so happy with were that my friend’s fish main course was quite dry, and our pancakes for dessert were served cold and a bit tough to cut – maybe they’re meant to be that way, but we weren’t sure. Other than that, everything else was wonderful. We loved your happy hour cocktails – the house ones were really delicious and something different, which was a nice treat. And thank you very much for the thoughtful surprise of a bottle of bubbly for my (slightly late!) birthday – that really made the evening special. Overall, we had a lovely time and will definitely be back. Warm regards, Kinga

It's really a shame that Gaucho has one of the nicer locations, especially if you're able to sit near the window facing the water (vs being cramped in the back), and the service was also great but the food... where to even begin. We ordered 6 Sunday Roasts, and all of the additional sides (Cauliflower Cheese, Mac & Cheese and Tomato Salad) -- each plate of roast looked different, some had 5 potatoes some had 2, one of the roasts was definitely sitting out because one side was rare and the other wasn't. We sent it back and they got us a new one which was nice. BUT for the price, there should be more consistency. All Mac&Cheese tasted like burnt oil, we also sent that back and asked for them not to replace it. The Cauliflower Cheese was so mushy and overdone. Let's not forget dessert, The apple crumble, had 0.5% crumble, looked more like bread crumbs it was such a sad excuse for a home loved dessert and the Hot Cookie Dough, which arrived and was straight dust, after we told the waiter, she informed us it was Gluten Free, which is not consistent with the description on the menu.

Strada is a delightful Italian chain restaurant that specializes in an array of mouthwatering dishes, including risotto, pasta, and wood-fired pizzas. Located near Richmond Bridge, Strada boasts a modern and stylish decor within a charming Georgian building that can accommodate up to 120 guests across two floors. The inviting atmosphere makes it a favorite among locals for its quality food and attentive service.
Made an reservation for the evening but decided that I would rather eat earlier… This wasn't a problem and gave us the perfect table. The staff were all friendly and served everything we needed all in good time. The food was mush better than I thought, as being half Italian I do have a gourmet taste for Italian cuisine… freshly prepared and worth the extra pennies for good quality food, can understand some may think it's a little over priced, but the difference is down to quality and not quantity… anyway, we had a great experience on Saturday 26th September 2015 and I would visit again. Thank you to all those who worked that time we were there… ;))))

Horrendous. The place is grotty. The route to the rear fire exit was at least half covered by spare chairs and highchairs, not a clear get away. We had quite a large party meeting for a family birthday so we were given the bench seat at the back. To get along the seat to the middle the tables have to be moved forward so a person can shuffle down. A pushy waiter barrled up and started pushing the tables back in saying we were encroaching on the tables near by. Because he didn't announce and explain what he was attempting, but just started pushing the tables back in, he trapped my mother in law's foot with the table in front of her. No apology. The food we ordered had ingredients missing, we conveyed this and then a pot of the aforementioned ingredient turned up looking a bit like cat food. The waiter handling our tables was at the end of his shift and didn't seem to hand over to the following staff member, she had to recap most of it. I couldn't leave quick enough. We were offered vouchers from head office but have no interest.

We went to Strada before going to the movies in Richmond on Saturday. Service was good and friendly. The food was dissapointing. My starter (Polpette) had was not hot (cold and crumbly mascarpone) and my friends Limoncello desert contained hardly any limoncello which was odd. It's a chain restaurant and the food didn't hide it at all I'm affraid. The sofa chair fabrics are a big dirty, we changed tables. The place can do with a big clean. It's a shame, the location is great and the staff was wonderful. If the food could be better, that would make a difference.

🚇 Kew Bridge 🍺 £6.30 London Pilsner The City Barge is located on the banks of the Thames in Chiswick, and is one of four pubs that line this stretch of the river. The nearest station is Kew Bridge. The City Barge claims origins from 1484, which would make it one of the oldest pubs in London. This pub was originally called the Navigators Arms it later became the Bohemia Head and the City Navigation Barge. The City Barge name comes from an old barge that was once moored between here and Oliver's Island, as a toll collection vessel. The pub is famous among Beatles fans as one of the locations in the movie Help! This is a one-bar pub that is split-level and has a country pub feel. Much of the space is given over to dining, especially the sunken room, which features a fireplace, flagstone floor, and curved stone steps. Directly in front of the servery are a number of tables for those just here for a beer. Upstairs is a private dining room with sturdy herringbone tables. There are two outside spaces: one at the back by the car park, and of course, the riverside terrace, which is the best place to be. This Greene King pub offers a decent selection of beers, which included some local London brews and three cask ales. I decided on a Portobello London Pilsner; my pint hit the spot, and the price was around average. The food menu offers classic British pub grub; Fish & Chips costs £19, and roasts are available on Sundays. I arrived around 2:30 pm on a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in May. The atmosphere inside was very chilled and laid-back, as the majority of punters were enjoying the sun and the views outside overlooking the river. The service was excellent; the team here were upbeat, welcoming, and friendly. The @citybargew4 was a thoroughly enjoyable visit. This riverside Gastro offers a fantastic traditional pub experience within a country pub setting and riverside views. 📅 11th May 2024 More London pub info on socials @londonpubmap 🍻

Poor quality beef in the roast. Seem a few others have commented on the low quality in recent reviews. Wish I had seen them prior to ordering. Large sections were inedible and left on the plate. Also left the veg was light and there should have been more. Before the pub reply and say something along the lines of had we been made aware at the time we could have replaced it. Your chefs should be fully aware when they're cooking and serving. Management will be aware because they're making savings on what they're buying.

One of our local pubs - and it really delivered on our recent visit. We had a gorgeous Sunday roast - every course was spot on. From the starters right through to dessert, the food was consistently great. I had the porchetta for my main, and it was absolutely delicious - easily one of the best roasts I’ve had in a long time. The meat was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. For dessert, I had the prune panna cotta - lovely flavour and a perfect wobble. Cocktails were decent too, making it a well-rounded and satisfying meal.

A really friendly, warm and inviting pub with an amazing view. The staff made me feel very comfortable even dining alone. The food was such a treat, lovely flavours, great quantity and brilliant value.

We’ve always enjoyed our visits to this riverside pub. But this week was our first time in their private room, where we hosted a celebratory lunch for 12. Ian and his team made the event a big success: a comfortable setting with a river view, good food and wine, excellent service (thank you Nina, and your colleague whose name I have sadly forgotten). Ian and Reggie were also very helpful while planning the event. So … in our experience, the City Barge is an excellent choice for a relaxed but civilised private occasion in a great location.

I write a full review in a moment, but just the fact that I was asked to move out from the table I booked before j manage to get to order dessert just because they dont know how to manage their bookings is very annoying, it's not like the pub was fully crowded, the place was dead empty, please see my pictures, Terrible service, terrible management who didn't even bother to apologise, I highly recommend you to stay away from this place

My lovely local pub. Spent a lot of time here over the year and made many memories. Delicious food, a friendly welcome and an enchanting summer view along the river.

Food was delicious, and the service very good, fabulous ambiance, they didn't rush me. The fish and chips were on a visit to England in late September 2023. The lamb was from a visit to England in late June to July. Everything was so fabulous I just had to go back again. I hope to go back to the City Barge next visit and have the Sunday roast and also have a walk along the beautiful waterfront.

The Original Maids of Honour is a quaint family-owned bakery and tea shop that has been serving delectable pies, sandwiches, salads, and cakes since 1860. Legend has it that King Henry VIII was so enamored with their 'melt-in-the-mouth sensation' that he secured the recipe under lock and key in Richmond Palace. The establishment in Kew, known as Winnie: The Original Maids of Honour, holds a special place in the hearts of many.
We had high tea here on Saturday. Food is overall good. It’s just the coffee eclair is too sweet for me to finish at once. Scones are soft and fluffy. Friendly and prompt service. Cozy environment. Love the decoration in this cafe. Reservation is recommended on weekends.

Time seems to have stood still at this “Tea Rooms” establishment which also offers accommodation facilities upstairs. The room was very quaintly old fashioned with Bakelite light switches and brass pipe fittings. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The tea room was also a nice experience when we had breakfast the next morning. Staff were very polite and this place is booming with business most of the time, so think ahead. Also please note this is a pet friendly venue

I really enjoyed the afternoon tea here. The food was delicious — fresh and beautifully presented — and the service was excellent, with staff who were attentive and friendly. My favorite was the passion fruit cheesecake, which was so refreshing, and the scones were wonderfully soft. The peach tea was also delightful and paired perfectly with the treats. What impressed me most was how stunning the restaurant is; the elegant setting made the whole afternoon tea experience truly special. I’d love to come back again!

I have been coming to Maids of honour for 17 years. I am so sad to see how much it has changed. My friend and I visited for a high tea and a savoury tea and it was poor. The sandwiches were cheaply made and stingy. The scones were clearly a day old and stale. The jam and cream were stingy, not to mention the cream had a weird foamy texture. The tea was also a tea bag and not tea leaves, which is a shame. The cheese and onion pasty was lovely, however. It’s clear they had to bring the quality down, but at £28 a head I don’t think that’s right. I don’t think I’ll be visiting for an afternoon tea again. I’ll leave picture of the tea I had last to this year, just to see how much it has changed.

I came to Richmond to visit Kew Gardens and booked an afternoon tea for four here. We had the most lovely and delicious experience. Cakes, quiches, scones, clotted cream, big tea selection, the works. The staff were so nice, helpful, and efficient. It was a beautiful Saturday in September and the place was not too busy. The quality and presentation was better than most afternoon tea spots in London (city center) and at least 1/3 the price… I will be back.

Amazing savoury and sweet bits for a nice picnic in Richmond park. We bought a mushroom quiche, a ham and chicken pie and 6 maids of honour tarts. Total ended up being £24.00 for everything.

Been wanting to visit this place for a while now, and was recommended this place by many people. We made reservations for lunch, arrived before our booking time and were able to grab a table. Our server was very sweet and pointed us to the popular menu tea recommendations. Food was great, I really enjoyed the sunday roast. The Maid of Honour Tart was lovely! Will definitely come back here to try their afternoon tea set. Make sure to make reservations!

If you're looking to experience a traditional tea room, this is the place to go. I had the salmon and spinach quiche along with the tomato soup—both were excellent. Surprisingly busy even on weekdays, so I recommend making a reservation. Minimum charge of £22 for luncheon menu.
