Been there quite a few times, and I genuinely like this area. It's a wide sandy beach with good local amenities nearby. There's one spot with an old, monstrous metal structure that gives the beach a really eerie, menacing look. Generally, it's a very clean beach with plenty of parking spaces, plus there's a Papa's restaurant right there if you feel hungry or need a coffee. Time well spent, highly recommended!

Cleethorpes beach is a hidden gem, has clean sands, plenty of space, and a really welcoming seaside feel. The mix of traditional charm with modern touches makes it perfect for both a peaceful walk and a family day out. Lots of sea side accommodation for guest. I enjoyed the old locomotive train ride from the beach, which is well priced. Always feels refreshing to visit!”

My 1st experience of being here...I must say that there was plenty of mini shops, stalls and definitely arcades....plenty of food halls and with them mainly being on the sea front, you've got the best of the area including the views out into the sea. I would recommend going here and as for parking, I'm a disabled blue badge user and regarding payment for parking, it was pleasantly rewarding and truly appreciated.

I really don’t rate this 😏 very disappointed with this beach has to be one of the worst beaches I’ve been too , was more of a muddy beach not really sandy and the actual sea was always far out ,by the time it comes in it’s late in the day no good . I think also not much to see here such a shame

A wonderful beach to visit always clean. Loads of parking on the sea front. We always visit Papa's for fish and chips on the pier, a superb old building. Don't expect the buzz of Skegness this is much nicer and a more pleasant place to visit.

What a pretty beach had my best time there must visit when you are in grimsby.

We enjoyed this! The trains ran to time, every 30 minutes. We did a return journey & got off to spend a short while at far end where there is a pub (live music today, a Saturday in July) & a small cafe & gift shop, There's a fair amount of parking at the far end, & a large EV charging hub so you could start from this end & use the train to get to the promenade. There's a path alongside the railway, looks tarmacked the whole way & good for wheelchairs / pushchairs too - guess you might do a single trip & walk the other way (about 2km). The train has a wheelchair accessible carriage for 1 wheelchair or mobility scooter per trip. We got on without having to wait. Our group, 1 in wheelchair, 2 other adults & a dog fitted in the carriage nicely ..,a staff member was there to put ramp up & down, & safely lock it, without us waiting.

The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway is a narrow gauge railway that runs along the edge of the coast. It is a great place to visit with children. There is an exhibition showing the history of the railway. There is a nice cafe and gift shop and plenty of outside covered seating. The signal box is a great little pub.

Very good for value, lovely views. Definitely recommend again! ❤️ also did the crazy golf it was fun however the golf course itself wasn’t level so you can’t really aim right.

I'm up in Cleethorpes quite often as I have family who own a caravan nearby and I always make sure to drop in for a trip on the line. Staff are friendly and polite, the maps and timetables are easy to read, the shops are well-stocked and from an enthusiast's perspective, the fleet is absolutely nothing to sniff at! All in all, the CCLR is a must-visit if you're spending any amount of time in Cleethorpes. Photos are from the 2025 steam festival.

Brilliant railway very scenic and also the nature reserve with so many birds is great place to go also the signal box pub is a must they serve food and great beer cider and also vintage ales 👍

Good little railway, the line only goes to the pub/museum but still a good day out and fair prices

It is a lovely place to admire the birds and go for a peaceful wander around. There were plenty of different types of birds to see and it has a nice atmosphere! The views are lovely all away around the lake. Plenty of seats which is nice to stop and relax for a bit.

Lovely park we'll kept and clean with alot to offer from the shops , food and tge tain being near by little play area for kids and can feed all the ducks

Cleethorpes looked lovely today ,lots of people walking in the beautiful sunshine. Lots of eateries open so nice to see people eating and drinking al fresco

Great for lovely walk with the dogs or kids. It has a lovely lake, restaurant, sandpit with a small paddling pool.

Me & the family live a walk around the boating lake. Very peaceful & scenic. Plenty of parking & a couple of places to stop for food/drinks. My son loves feeding all the birds

Very clean and tidy, we visited Christmas day and enjoyed the day. The only thing missing is one or possible two vendors for tea and coffee. It was busy so it would have been worth even a burger van or similar being allowed to trade on the day.

Nice tranquil park that is generally not overly busy. Would be nice if the dog walkers picked up more of their dog’s mess instead of leaving it either on the path or trails. Same for putting it in a bag then tossing it away

Good free car park. A nice walk to walk round, it's a lovely circular, memorial benches to sit and relax, look at the view and just take a moment. No toilets nor cafe but not far from others in Cleethorpes. Friendly dogs and walkers, quite busy!

Great place to walk dogs. There is even a fenced off dog swimming area - what a great idea! Ours loves it. Well worth the hour drive from home.

Lovely place for a walk, there is a wheelchair friendly path around the lake which has beautiful views! The place is very dog friendly and even has a little area for dogs to go swimming which is fab. A really nice park to visit :)

Lovely place to walk the dogs. Good size carpark, picnic tables. NO TOILETS path all the way round ideal for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Usually friendly people along the walk. Large pond with lots of birds, ducks to see often the odd fisher on the bank. Nice fenced off area with sand where the dogs can play and go for a swim .

Parking great. Lovely and flat and pathed for access. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. Love it here and so do the dogs!

Nice clean beach, out of season so not much happening. But arcades open and most shops. Enjoyed a few hours in the rain. Not enough public toilets hence the 4 stars

Surprising little coastal gem, lovely landscaped gardens, statues, fountains, and the imposing Ross Castle.

When the sun is shining, Cleethorpes is a fabulous seaside town to visit, nice antique shop, souvenir shops, and plenty for kids to do.

Great little train ride, we park at the fitties or carpark opposite the haven site, both free, walk along the beach front with our dog and stop for coffee at the Brew Stop! then catch the little train, which breaks up the walk down onto the promenade.

If you’re visiting the beach, you should definitely stop by Papa’s! The food is really good and the overall experience was worth it. I’m a vegetarian, so there weren’t too many options for me, but whatever I tried was tasty. The staff were also very polite and welcoming. Would surely recommend it for the quality and the vibe!

The food was okay. We had the classic fish and chips. But they kept forgetting half the sides. Like lemons and tartar sauce. So the service was a bit lacking and slow. The worst part was a hair in my tartar sauce which means I will never visit again and honestly lost my appetite after that. This was not a pleasant experience since I drove an hour to eat this over hyped fish.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Papa’s Fish and Chips! We ordered the kids meal, large fish and chips, and the Halloumi Burger meal. all delicious and freshly prepared. The location is perfect, right on the pier with stunning sea views. But what really made our visit special was Dee’s exceptional service! She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even providing paper and colours to keep little Trisha entertained. She checked in to see if we needed anything and was so friendly and helpful throughout. Thank you, Dee, for your outstanding hospitalit we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend this place for great food, a lovely setting, and top-notch service. 👏🍟🐟

We arrived and were shown straight to an outside table overlooking the sea. We ordered at the food point, some went to the bar as the queue was shorter. We both saw lots of food going out and were a bit worried at the chips looked very pale and almost undercooked to us. We did have to wait a while as they were very busy but got our drinks literally just before our food. We should not have worried about the chips as they were absolutely amazing! The fish was cooked to perfection and was so light and fluffy. One of the best fish and chips we've ever had! We tried the deep fried Mars Bar, not for me but my husband loved it! A great place to eat, very busy, but understandably and worth the wait. I'd bet it's lovely all year round.

I visited Cleethorpes a week ago and I had a suggestion from my sister to visit Papa’s fish and chips. Please don’t do the mistake I did I did ordered from the left side that was a takeaway and had to eat outside. If you want to sit please enter the restaurant. Overall taste was average considering the UK has so many good fish and chips places. Also for the takeaway they did not have any dips. Hope my review can make a little change

Fish and chips isn’t really my cup of tea 🙂 But since this is such a famous place — the biggest in the UK — I decided to try it for the very first time (even though I live here 😁). My partner loved it and said it was really good, so I’ll trust his opinion more than mine on this one. Just don’t forget the vinegar and a sprinkle of salt — that’s the proper way! 🐟

Popped in for lunch while holidaying nearby – mostly because this place seems to pop up on every food show under the sun. Thought I’d see what the fuss was about. Haddock and chips? Decent. Nothing to write home about, but it did the job. My wife went for a battered sausage, which unfortunately turned out to be more “rare” than “ready” – it was basically still oinking. Sent it back, hoping for a cooked one… but the replacement was also underdone. At that point we half-expected the third one to come out still frozen and asking for a blanket. Moral of the story: might be worth checking your sausage before taking a bite. We did not sign up for a game of Will It Be Cooked?

Best fish and chips I’ve had in ages! The batter was super crispy, fish was fresh and flaky, and the chips were hot and fluffy. Nice traditional touch getting bread and butter, with tea/coffee/squash included. The apple & cherry crumble was devine - perfect crumble to fruit ratio with homemade custard. Great portion sizes and brilliant value for money. The staff were really friendly. Will definitely be back when visiting Cleethorpes again!

4 of us turned up,with no reservation, was able to be seated without waiting, this was a Wednesday lunch time. Service was quick, the fish n chips were piping hot, delicious, and nice hot tea. Crab salad if you want healthy option. The lady who served us was lovely, and quick to ensure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this place for decent fish n chips in a sit down environment Whilst its a little dated with decor still a clean and lovely atmosphere 👌

Love going to Steels. Personally I cannot have anything other than the homemade steak pie. The large chunks of soft juicy steak, the meat gravy, which you get an extra jug of. I had potaand veg today. All gorgeous. Simply delicious. Excellent service, staff always friendly and polite. Can't do enough for you. It's homely and comforting. Feels like your own nan has made your dinner.

Excellent quality fish and chips, I got takeaway, delicious. Not oily like some chippies can be; fish was freshly cooked in light crisp batter, flakey as it should be. Chips lovely, fluffy inside and crisp on outside.

My family and I had a wonderful dinner here at Steeles. The fish was flaky and firm and in a really good crispy batter. Delicious chips and, of course, mushy peas. We had awesome service from Nicole, who was very patient with the kids' indecisiveness. Steeles has been here for generations of my family and deservedly so. It MUST be your choice for fish and chips when you're in Cleethorpes.

Came here on a day art to cleethorpes wi mi gurt, popped in coz mermaid wa closed and this had better reviews (crazy coz mermaid the GOAT) frankly, not as good as mermaid, however the fish was flaky, very well cooked and yummy, good fish to batter ratio however the chips could have been cooked a little longer which knocked em down a star but that’s only the gripe I have, gravy wa banging and condiments were all perfect, currently writing this while waiting for the bill which is taking a while so knocked em down a star for that too, although when we first arrived it was quite busy and they did take our order quickly. Had an excellent anniversary meal here. Well presented and tasty food, great cocktails, super service and a lovely laid back atmosphere. Prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food.

We'd literally just arrived, duvn't know what I needed most,a pee or a drink. was met with a pleasant welcome and quickly served. We didn't eat, so I can't comment, I give a star rating just in case no stars is seen as a negative. The place is bright, very clean and I like the little sports anecdotes adorning the walls.

Turned with a friend and a small dog in a pram. The bar made us so welcome. Absolutely franstantic service, great staff and a must if your ever in Cleethorpes.

Visited on a weeknight for a birthday, great food and decent portions. The chips were giant. No room for pudding!

Visiting the area yesterday and chose this restaurant after going through various menus and reviews of similar places. This stood out and disappoint. Hadn’t booked in advance but was seated quickly and efficiently, service was prompt and food arrived quickly but was clearly fresh. Portion sizes were generous and the quality was very good, the homemade steak pie in particular on our table looked amazing. Overall excellent value for money and got to be up there as one of the best in the area.

The salad here really does live up to the hype - just wow! A huge portion which I appreciate as a girl who likes to eat 😂 also had the best calamari I have ever tasted! Lovely, friendly staff too. We will definitely be back here anytime we visit Cleethorpes!

It is the first time we visited this restaurant. I ordered jumbo haddock plus chips and curry sauce together. The freshness and taste of this haddock is very good. Maybe the restaurant is close to Grimsby that they can purchase fresher fishes than other areas. At the same time, it is not easy to find poached fish elsewhere too. It is a less oily choice suitable for healthy- conscious customers. On the other hand, the staff are nice, helpful and smiley. The most important thing is that the price is very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Very clean, lovely restaurant with very attentive and friendly staff. We had the Ocean special which was very good value (peas extra). Batter was crisp and light...very enjoyable.

We have come here for our Fish & Chips fix when we visit Grimsby for the last couple of years now. They use Beef dripping fat to fry their food in so this gives the fish and chips a unique taste and the batter is crisper. The fish is fresh, always cooked to perfection, the batter is the right thickness and it is light and crisp without looking or tasting greasy. The chips are also very nice, they are fluffy inside and are consistently of a good size. We also had the poached haddock which was also very good, very fresh and cooked perfectly as poaching is very easy to overcook. The Oceans signature salad is also very good with a good mixture of vegetables and the fruit is good to cleanse the pallet at the end. Service is always excellent, today (25/11) was very good especially the manager who I didn’t catch his name. There was a very minor issue but it was corrected very swiftly without any hassle. Keep doing what you’re doing and I’m sure you’ll be around for a very long time 👍🏼

Lovely fish n chips meal, had the ocean special deal which came with bread and a pot of tea for £13.50, then got peas to go with it. Me and father-in-law both thought the fish was absolutely perfect. But we do love haddock cooked in beef dripping, much beter than cooked in oil!. Staff were great, friendly and helpful but not hovering over the table. Also good access for anyone who needs to use a walker of wheelchair.

We enjoyed the fuzzy socks afternoon tea. The staff were so accommodating and the food was just amazing. It was such a treat for both of us. We arrived late because of traffic but we called to let them know and they had everything ready for us and we were so grateful. My mum is gluten intolerant which they catered for so to be able to eat all the food without worrying about feeling poorly afterwards was so amazing for her. I so recommend this, the room was quiet and pleasant, the food delicious, and I thought the price was worth it.

Visited Figs today, first thoughts of the atmosphere, absolutely great. The place is nicely decorated, the restrooms are very clean, probably one of the cleanest I’ve seen. This shows how much care the Staff put into this place. I being a bit of a picky eater didn’t really take a fancy to anything on the Menu so the Staff politely approached me and asked me what I’d like and if they had the ingredients to make it. I said what I’d really like which wasn’t on the Menu and if it wasn’t too much trouble could they manage to make it up for me. The Staff were really polite and managed to make up my order, the Staff really went up and beyond and I think that every Restaurant / Cafe should have Staff as polite as them. The Food was amazing and was above my expectations and I will have to say that I will definitely come back in the future. Figs is probably the nicest and friendliest Cafe I’ve ever been to, friendliest Staff. Highly Recommend coming here. A++++++ 😃

What a find! It was so good we went two nights in a row. Everything we had was cooked to perfection and delivered by lovely service staff. The atmosphere was very relaxed.

This has to be my favourite place. The service and the atmosphere is amazing. I went as a couple. The food has to be the best food I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend this place enough! We will definitely be returning !
