Nature & Parks
East Looe Beach, also known as the town beach, is a popular destination for tourists and families looking for a traditional British seaside experience. The beach features a gently sloping sandy shore, making it ideal for swimming and sandcastle building, while also attracting paddleboarders and wild swimmers during colder months. Situated near the town center, the beach offers facilities such as cafes and toilets within walking distance.
Looe Beach, Cornwall : Family Seaside Fun and Coastal Charm🌊🦀🏝️☀️ The Beach is perfect for families, offering safe swimming, sandy shores for games, and crab fishing fun. You see kids enjoy building sandcastles whilst adults swimming or relaxing with stunning coastal views. Looe beach is small and can get busy during weekends, school holidays, and with tourists during the summer months. With fish and chip shops, pubs, restaurants, and cafes nearby, it’s a complete seaside escape filled with charm. #explorecornwall

Nice short day visit lots of shops and nice pasties to eat but parking is a bit of a venture, just a nice Cornish fishing town
Michael — Google review
The beach is beautiful. You can watch boats coming in and out as well. You can go crabbing you can build sand castles and you've got everything you need. Ice cream shops, fish and chips. Lots of restaurants, boat rides, water taxis and the sea is so clear you can see bottom . The lovely town is nice on flat level but East Looe is very hilly
Ros P — Google review
Beautiful sandy beach, with really gentle waves ideal for young ones. With a picturesque harbour too. Toilets were 30p and you can pay by card!
De M — Google review
The sheltered nature of the beach makes it suitable for swimming, sunbathing, kayaking, and crabbing, especially during the summer. The beach is conveniently located near the town, offering easy access to amenities and facilities.
Joanna M — Google review
Enjoyed an early morning walk along this beach. A lot of morning swimmers and dog walkers. Generally well maintained however alot of broken glass along the walkways which is dangerous.
Karen G — Google review
Loved this beach. Very clean, lots of nice cafes right on the beachfront and close by. Decent public toilets by the beach. Cute little pier and lovely views. Only negative is the nuisance seagulls constantly circling overhead and swooping on unsuspecting people with food on the beach. My advice.. don't take anything edible onto the beach as you won't have it for long!! We only took coffee and water and they didn't bother us.
Jeannie L — Google review
Really glad we visited spent about hour and half lovely walk through lots of shops, busy but fairly nice seaside atmosphere, lovely little beach my son managed to do a little bit of boogie boarding a bit of a wave not a surfing beach but wasn’t too bad wave wise for a little bit of boogie boarding. Very different how close the beach is to the shops and an old church (now flats) right on the beach, definitely worth the visit.

Really fascinating museum! It’s small but there is a lot to look at, a great place to come if you’re interested in the local history of Looe, and dog friendly too!

Nice little museum with lots of interesting items on display. The two ladies that were working there where great fun and clearly enjoyed giving you a little local history. If you venture down stairs watch the steps as the are fairly steep. All for £3 per adult and kids go free.

The Sardine Factory in Looe is a casual and light-filled restaurant that offers traditional seafood dishes, steaks, burgers, and wood-fired pizzas. It is housed in a refurbished old sardine factory that has been transformed into a heritage center showcasing the history, geography, and culture of Looe. The restaurant provides an all-day breakfast menu and serves fresh food with locally sourced ingredients.
Truly delicious offerings in a great location, you’ll need to book and we went for lunch at short notice and there was lots of availability. We opted for; Smoked Haddock scotch egg, fish and chips, sardines, octopus, scallop and greek salad. We’ve had these favourites many many times in many many places and from some of the best chefs going in Cornwall. It is not often we get new #1s from these choices…we now have 6 new #1s as they were that good. The wines were great too and the value was incredible…try the Lebanese wine and a dessert wine..you’ll love them both. Ohh n if you shelled peas with your Grandma and were allowed a few as a treat, that’s what the peas tasted like…memories that last forever. 😋😋😋

A fantastic find while visiting Looe. We booked a last min holiday to Looe, and while there we walked and searched for good food. This restaurant was outstanding. We loved every bite. The crispy squid was divine. The crab mac n cheese was the best mac we have ever tasted, and even after the selection of small plates and sides as a tapas style meal, we still had room left for dessert. Which didn’t disappoint. The lemon posset with meringue and raspberries was a creamy perfection. Thank you to Ben and all of the chefs for our gorgeous meal today. We really had a fantastic time, and our tummies are very happy
Mairi C — Google review
The Sardine Factory has quickly become one of our absolute favourite places to eat. Everything about it just works — the food is exceptional, the service is warm and professional, and the setting has that perfect mix of style and comfort. The menu shows real creativity without losing touch with what makes good food great. Every dish we’ve had has been beautifully balanced and packed with flavour — clearly made with top-quality ingredients and real attention to detail. The seafood, in particular, is outstanding. It’s the kind of restaurant that makes you want to linger over every course, enjoy a good bottle of wine, and just soak up the atmosphere. Whether you’re after a relaxed lunch or a special evening out, The Sardine Factory never disappoints — a genuine gem that’s earned its place as one of our favourites.

Wonderful restaurant serving the best local seasonal seafood dishes (plus other options for anyone not a fan of seafood). The staff were friendly and attentive and the presentation of the food was amazing. Highly recommend if you are visiting Looe.

We stayed overnight in the motorhome. Amazing place- the carparks just back from the beach. It's got a great tidal pool and a beach shack for food and drinks. I didn't take any photos as I was too busy swimming and jumping in the tidal pool 😂
Ross K — Google review
Beautiful location, accommodation is good, there’s a restaurant that serves basic food and pizza place where pizzas are delicious. I’d be surprised if the bar makes much money. People were walking away because the bar staff kept disappearing.
Jean S — Google review
Lovely location staff were very helpful. Locals were very friendly and accommodating. Accommodation was modern, clean and comfortable. Just a little problem with the TV but that was rectified. Some of the stairs to the Villas might be too much to negotiate for the disabled or elderly. Thanx to James for sorting out the parking having hurt my leg so couldn't walk too far. There was a beach area with a splendid view of Loone island, with surfing and night finishing.Cafe bar on the beach front with some pretty good food and dog friendly if you have a dog/s. Recommended for anyone to stay great location and lots of places to visit. Will definitely stay again.

Absolutely beautiful location with a lovely cafe and bar. All the staff are friendly and positive and the evening entertainment was an unexpected bonus. Exciting to see the plans for the future of the site.

By far the worst place in Cornwall I have been!!! They are strong ambassadors of making currency none exciting! They do not care about recycling one bit!! The male staff i spoke to at "sip and slice" was full on rude!!! They will let a thirsty person struggle if they need a drink and can't pay card!! And to top it off! They have this condescending sign (pic attached) to people that have legel tender (they will not accpet) but for there own greed!!! Will never recommend to anyone I know! I love cornwall but will never be going back here!!!!

Hannafore Beach is a fantastic destination for nature enthusiasts and families looking to explore coastal wildlife. Unlike nearby Looe beach, Hannafore offers an abundance of rock pools, seaweed, and shells to discover. Children will love exploring the diverse marine life and building sandcastles on the sandy shores. Additionally, amenities such as public toilets and food vendors are conveniently located nearby. Don't miss the opportunity to collect some amazing mini seashells during your visit!
Usually, it's a good place for a walk for people who have a disability as it's flat. The beach is rock pools, not much sand or places to sunbathe, but you can reach a beach if you walk to the end, which takes you to the start of the South West cliff path. Easy parking, great for bird watching , a good view of Looe Island which you can walk to at low spring tide. There is a good, popular cafe with outside seating with nearby toilets. There are tennis courts also.
Joanne D — Google review
Plenty of on road parking along the promenade. Good facilities and a little reasonably priced cafe. Rock pools, pebble beach, dog friendly
Rebecca S — Google review
Hannafore Beach is unspoiled and this is probably due to local people's intervention with the council. It is well worth a visit or stay in a number of cute holiday places. I spent a few lovely hours walking along the beach, surrounding area and having a meal.
Philip S — Google review
Great spot for a walk. Whether just along the seafront getting tea and cake at one of the cafes or walking further along the coast path, which is very popular with dog walkers.
Jon K — Google review
This beach is an excellent spot for rock pooling, especially when the tide is low. There’s a path that takes you to various rock pools; I would recommend the middle of the path leading to the sea for the best chance of finding crabs and hermit crabs.
Hayley I — Google review
It's OK lots of rock pools two lovely cafes on either side of the road. Parking is limited to the streets so get there early.
Bruce R — Google review
Beautiful spot overlooking Looe island , kiosk n cafe for snacks n drinks . Lovely beach to swim ,paddle and explore and access to the steep coastal path to Talland n Polperro
Sue F — Google review
This is a wonderful beach to visit if you are interested in coastal wildlife. It's the perfect place too, to bring children to explore rock pools. Although you have limited rock pools in nearby Looe beach, far more here along with vast range of seaweed and shells. There is some sand for sandcastle building! Nearby there are public toilets and places to buy food and drink.

Fish & chips restaurant
Located in the charming coastal town of Looe, Cornwall, The Coddy Shack is a beloved seafood restaurant that offers stunning views of the harbor. This popular dining spot prides itself on serving a diverse menu of fresh seafood dishes, such as fish and chips, grilled fish, shellfish, and seafood platters. Emphasizing locally sourced ingredients, including fish and other components, The Coddy Shack also provides vegetarian and gluten-free options for its patrons to enjoy.
We dropped by the Coddy Shack for a late lunch early in the week and had no trouble getting a table. The welcome was warm, and we enjoyed a local beer and cider to start. We ordered the haddock and cod — both were fresh, juicy, and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crispy batter. A great, relaxed spot for quality fish and a friendly atmosphere.

We were staying at the Caravan site next door and decided to give this place a try and we had such a fantastic meal. That staff were friendly and helpful and they offered advice. The food itself was delicious with generous portions. The atmosphere was spot on with some music in the background but not too loud so you can still talk. We're so pleased we gave this a try. We're already planning to come back!
Jamie G — Google review
I have known about The Coddy Shack for many years and even longer, known the Bond brothers from their business in Polperro but never managed to visit during my trips from Canada. 🇨🇦 I was surprised how big the enterprise is and there is a venue at the back which if I recall is a steak and seafood restaurant that looks like it could also be an ideal wedding venue overlooking the valley. I enjoyed Haddock and Chips with Mushy Peas. The fish was perfectly cooked and the batter was light and crispy. Great to see a bar there, so I had a pint as well. The place was busy which is always an indication that it has a good local following. The table service was very good and the food came quickly. There is a separate takeaway area and that was busy as well. A great experience that I must do again on my next visit. Highly recommended.

We went to The Coddy Shack twice during our two breaks in Looe this year and were very impressed on both occasions. We enjoyed a wonderful evening meal in the restaurant during the busy summer holiday season. The food was both delicious and nicely presented. Our waitress was polite and efficient, and our food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being very busy. Our takeaway meal during the October half-term was also excellent, some of the best takeaway fish and chips we've had in a long time. The portions were generous and freshly cooked to order. Our order was prepared very quickly. Thank you, The Coddy Shack. We'll definitely return again whenever we visit Looe.

We have stayed in caravan site next door and ended up eating takeway fish& chips in this place every single day. Fantastic. Well organized and friendly staff. Restaurant cozy with plenty of parking. Takeway or eating in. Just 1 minute by car from caravan park first left towards Looe. You must eat there. Wish i was living close by...

One of the best meals for dinner and return for breakfasts we’ve ever had in England! 5* breakfast, thick cut home made toast, egg perfect. Large breakfasts, delicious coffee. Paul the chef, incredible! Our server Rachel Was efficient and friendly. Dinner, we each had Chips (the best fish & chip shop quality), steak, veggie lasagne, veggie burger, large white cod. A++ Recommend!

Always good food and great service and a wonderful atmosphere inside. Recommend you book as the seating capacity is a lot less than what they use to have before the fire back in 2023. Still working on the decking to increase seating capacity at some point in the future.

Great place, relaxed atmosphere, good service, friendly staff. And most importantly, the best cod and chips I've everhad. Light batter, not greasy at all. And I recommend the starters, all amazing. Does get busy so best to book up a few days ahead.

British restaurant
Nestled in the heart of East Looe, Smugglers Cott Restaurant exudes an old-world charm dating back to 1420. The restaurant's historic ambiance is complemented by its connection to smugglers and a secret tunnel leading to the quay. The building itself boasts timbers from the Spanish Armada, adding to its rich history.
We live locally and not been here before so gave it a go on a Sunday lunchtime. Both had carvery, one was pork and one was beef, this was well cooked and tasty, vegetables tasty and come in a large sharing plate with a jug of extra gravy on the side. We had 2 x puddings and 2 x pepsi drinks. Price was £59 so reasonable for the 2 of us. Interesting inside and staff were attentive ( on the day it looked like they had 2 new staff who were learning the ropes ). We had not booked and we were a walk in but they found us a table on the earlier sitting and heard waitress saying to the New team member it will be a busier second sitting as all tables fully booked. Given a 5 star as left happy Well done all at Smugglers Cott

An absolutely lovely place to eat, steeped in history with a cute dining room. I'm here for seafood on vacation and seafood is what I had! It was surprisingly busy for a quiet Looe Tuesday evening, with a lovely atmosphere. Fantastic meals, among the best I've ever eaten, its really that good. All over the room i could see taste-smiles. Thoroughly recommend the Smuggler's Cott.

Best damn restaurant in the city. We have been here for 5 days, spent 3 dinners there to be able to enjoy the menu, the atmosphere and the wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. On top of this, this is the only place in the city that is serving dinner on a Monday at 8:30pm that is not Indian or Chinese. If we visit the city ever again, we definitely come again to enjoy everything.
Endre K — Google review
Loved the atmosphere, never seen anything like it. Food was ok, a little pricey for what was a little bit of pub grub, however, that seems to be a theme in Looe. I would definitely go again as it was one of the best in Looe. I was really pleased they had gluten free options available.
Mark S — Google review
This was our 2nd visit to this restaurant to celebrate my husbands up and coming 50th birthday whilst on holiday. The reason being for the Yardarm mixed grill. Not one piece of meat could be faulted with a selection of mixed vegetables, home cooked chips and boiled potatoes. The mushroom tagliatelle did not disappoint either and the strawberry pavlova was to die for. Again, we would definitely visit if we are ever in Looe again.

Papa Nino is a cozy restaurant in Looe, offering a blend of traditional Italian cuisine and coastal flavors. With around 20 seats, it's recommended to make reservations in advance due to its popularity. The restaurant is known for its hearty portions and rich dishes, making it a perfect choice after a day of exploring the charming town. If you're seeking a taste of comfort food with the best of coastal cuisine, Papa Nino is an ideal dining spot.
Really enjoyed. Lovely little restaurant with about 20 seats. We wanted fish, and the dishes were lovely. Particularly enjoyed the hot spiced crab. Perhaps a bit of variety of sauces (white wine and cream-based was almost everything) would be better but understand the limitations of a small kitchen. Dessert was very nice too. Cash-only is a massive pain these days (had to go to a cash machine for literally the first time in a year), but that seems to be how they want to run it. The steaks looked amazing btw, bit jealous.

We visited while on our honeymoon, the seating was a bit tight where we were sat which made it a little uncomfortable. The food was delicious and the service was extremely good. Would return if ever back in Looe.

Outstanding in every department service, quality, portion size, flavour. The best restaurant in Looe. Book in advance. You will not be disappointed. Spicy Crab Bake starter is a must try
Roy B — Google review
Waiter service very good just a shame our main meals were poor. Starter: mussles nice, garlic mushrooms looked like they were floating in gravy! Mains; carbanara, very bland with far too much cheese sauce. My partner had the special without the crab just prawns, again too much sauce & very bland. We didn't risk dessert. We let the waiter know our disappointment and paid in full for all dishes.

Located in Looe with picturesque views of the harbor, The Fish Market is a seafood restaurant that prides itself on serving fresh, locally caught seafood. Their menu features classic fish and chips, seafood platters, and daily specials highlighting the catch of the day. With an outdoor seating area overlooking the bustling harbor, diners can savor their meal while taking in the vibrant atmosphere.
Absolutely worth every penny paid! The staff were lovely and honestly the food is the best we've had while eating out in a very long time! 10/10 would highly recommend!

Great service with really friendly staff, we were really looking forward to eating here but if absolutely honest we were a little disappointed, two of us opted for dressed lobster and ended up feeling a little unwell, the lobster was precooked and vacuum packed (boil in the bag) and then warmed up but unfortunately it wasn’t ever so hot which is a cardinal sin so we left most of it. The potatoes were amazing and some of the dishes were fab but the wine was hugely overpriced and overall not what we expected.

i stumbled into this small restaurant, escaping the cold and wet, and was instantly enveloped by a warm welcome and cozy atmosphere. it's unpretentious dining, yet the food is truly outstanding and incredibly inspired. this is exactly the kind of place i love – where the chef interacts with you as you dine, and the dishes are simple but showcase the best of seasonal produce, fresh seafood, and incredible flavor. my god, the flavor! very underrated - come here for an unique gastronomic experience.

Wow just wow, I’ve never been a seafood fan, but I truly am now. John Dory in a curry butter so succulent, monk fish in buffalo sauce was intense and the langoustines were just amazing. Paired a lovely Sauvignon from France. Thank you for probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had!

We ordered multiple dishes off the menu and every item was 11/10. The atmosphere was good and thriving and the views are amazing. I have been coming to Looe annually for holidays for many years and this is hands down the best food I’ve ever had in Looe and possibly the best seafood I’ve had in my life. I also like the personal touch of the chef bringing your meal out to you.

Amazing hidden gem with fresh ingredients, excellent cooking, superb service, and not bad view. We make a special effort on our trips to North Cornwall to fit in time on South Coast in Looe to spend time here. Super fresh ingredients, cooked respectfully but with flair from Fred, great time having Allie looking after us. Lots of small plates to make you reimagine tapas, lovely wines including a good Cornish selection- yay to Trevibban Mill, Fred's spuds are not be missed alongside a changing selection of seasonal vegetables and salads, and the freshest seafood prepared with flair. Can't wait to be back.

Some of the best food I’ve had in a long time, I don’t usually write reviews but it was just that good. Menu is very heavy on fish (as stated in the name) but there are lots of delicious meat/veg options for someone who isn’t super keen on seafood, as my partner isn’t. We had the bread, prawns, burrata and peach salad, and the the ribeye with bordelaise, everything was incredible, the burrata salad isn’t one to miss and the steak was one of the best I’ve had. Expensive but for the quality of the food it is very fair. Lovely cosy atmosphere and open kitchen where you can see the chefs working, not one to miss if you love good food👌🏻

Booked for two here and had a lovely table by the window so that set a great backdrop for our evening meal. The restaurant is intimate so booking is highly recommended if you want to guarantee a table. Our prawn starter was exceptional, and our fish main meals were the same. The fish is as fresh as it could possibly be, and beautifully cooked and presented. Meals are cooked by the chef, who works within sight, so you can see both the hygiene and experience levels on display. Be adventurous and try something you'd not normally have and you'll not be disappointed. I can highly recommend this restaurant.
