Restaurant
The Sardine Factory in Looe is a casual and light-filled restaurant that offers traditional seafood dishes, steaks, burgers, and wood-fired pizzas. It is housed in a refurbished old sardine factory that has been transformed into a heritage center showcasing the history, geography, and culture of Looe. The restaurant provides an all-day breakfast menu and serves fresh food with locally sourced ingredients.
Truly delicious offerings in a great location, you’ll need to book and we went for lunch at short notice and there was lots of availability. We opted for; Smoked Haddock scotch egg, fish and chips, sardines, octopus, scallop and greek salad. We’ve had these favourites many many times in many many places and from some of the best chefs going in Cornwall. It is not often we get new #1s from these choices…we now have 6 new #1s as they were that good. The wines were great too and the value was incredible…try the Lebanese wine and a dessert wine..you’ll love them both. Ohh n if you shelled peas with your Grandma and were allowed a few as a treat, that’s what the peas tasted like…memories that last forever. 😋😋😋

A fantastic find while visiting Looe. We booked a last min holiday to Looe, and while there we walked and searched for good food. This restaurant was outstanding. We loved every bite. The crispy squid was divine. The crab mac n cheese was the best mac we have ever tasted, and even after the selection of small plates and sides as a tapas style meal, we still had room left for dessert. Which didn’t disappoint. The lemon posset with meringue and raspberries was a creamy perfection. Thank you to Ben and all of the chefs for our gorgeous meal today. We really had a fantastic time, and our tummies are very happy

The Sardine Factory has quickly become one of our absolute favourite places to eat. Everything about it just works — the food is exceptional, the service is warm and professional, and the setting has that perfect mix of style and comfort. The menu shows real creativity without losing touch with what makes good food great. Every dish we’ve had has been beautifully balanced and packed with flavour — clearly made with top-quality ingredients and real attention to detail. The seafood, in particular, is outstanding. It’s the kind of restaurant that makes you want to linger over every course, enjoy a good bottle of wine, and just soak up the atmosphere. Whether you’re after a relaxed lunch or a special evening out, The Sardine Factory never disappoints — a genuine gem that’s earned its place as one of our favourites.

Wonderful restaurant serving the best local seasonal seafood dishes (plus other options for anyone not a fan of seafood). The staff were friendly and attentive and the presentation of the food was amazing. Highly recommend if you are visiting Looe.

Our experience of having lunch at The Sardine Factory was lovely, right from the warm welcome of the staff to the absolutely delicious selection of seafood. Service was excellent, ambience was beautiful. Thank you for giving us such a good time

Ate here for lunch. Food we ordered was all very nice. Maybe wouldn't order the taco next time. Quite an expensive lunch but luckily we had a gift voucher. Would definitely come again.

Booked in for a late lunch during the Kernewfornia festival and very glad we did. Had the chowder, scotch eggs and tuna small plates and a rather delicious white Rioja, everything was beautiful and very tasty. Excellent service , staff very friendly and approachable and such lovely surroundings. Quality lunch, thank you very much!

Located in the charming coastal town of Looe, Cornwall, The Coddy Shack is a beloved seafood restaurant that offers stunning views of the harbor. This popular dining spot prides itself on serving a diverse menu of fresh seafood dishes, such as fish and chips, grilled fish, shellfish, and seafood platters. Emphasizing locally sourced ingredients, including fish and other components, The Coddy Shack also provides vegetarian and gluten-free options for its patrons to enjoy.
We dropped by the Coddy Shack for a late lunch early in the week and had no trouble getting a table. The welcome was warm, and we enjoyed a local beer and cider to start. We ordered the haddock and cod — both were fresh, juicy, and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crispy batter. A great, relaxed spot for quality fish and a friendly atmosphere.

We were staying at the Caravan site next door and decided to give this place a try and we had such a fantastic meal. That staff were friendly and helpful and they offered advice. The food itself was delicious with generous portions. The atmosphere was spot on with some music in the background but not too loud so you can still talk. We're so pleased we gave this a try. We're already planning to come back!
Jamie G — Google review
I have known about The Coddy Shack for many years and even longer, known the Bond brothers from their business in Polperro but never managed to visit during my trips from Canada. 🇨🇦 I was surprised how big the enterprise is and there is a venue at the back which if I recall is a steak and seafood restaurant that looks like it could also be an ideal wedding venue overlooking the valley. I enjoyed Haddock and Chips with Mushy Peas. The fish was perfectly cooked and the batter was light and crispy. Great to see a bar there, so I had a pint as well. The place was busy which is always an indication that it has a good local following. The table service was very good and the food came quickly. There is a separate takeaway area and that was busy as well. A great experience that I must do again on my next visit. Highly recommended.

We have stayed in caravan site next door and ended up eating takeway fish& chips in this place every single day. Fantastic. Well organized and friendly staff. Restaurant cozy with plenty of parking. Takeway or eating in. Just 1 minute by car from caravan park first left towards Looe. You must eat there. Wish i was living close by...

One of the best meals for dinner and return for breakfasts we’ve ever had in England! 5* breakfast, thick cut home made toast, egg perfect. Large breakfasts, delicious coffee. Paul the chef, incredible! Our server Rachel Was efficient and friendly. Dinner, we each had Chips (the best fish & chip shop quality), steak, veggie lasagne, veggie burger, large white cod. A++ Recommend!

Always good food and great service and a wonderful atmosphere inside. Recommend you book as the seating capacity is a lot less than what they use to have before the fire back in 2023. Still working on the decking to increase seating capacity at some point in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyed an amazing takeaway meal from the Coddyshack this evening. Although there was a short wait, it meant the food was fresh to order. The food was incredible. We tried both the cod and the plaice and both were delicious. Even the bread and butter seemed artisan. The best chippy tea we have ever had. Highly recommend.

Nice friendly service, went early afternoon and didn't take long to get busy, the cod and chips tasted amazing, regular size was plenty enough. Has take away option or eat in the restaurant. Very clean, buzzing atmosphere definitely recommend 👌

Nestled in the heart of East Looe, Smugglers Cott Restaurant exudes an old-world charm dating back to 1420. The restaurant's historic ambiance is complemented by its connection to smugglers and a secret tunnel leading to the quay. The building itself boasts timbers from the Spanish Armada, adding to its rich history.
We live locally and not been here before so gave it a go on a Sunday lunchtime. Both had carvery, one was pork and one was beef, this was well cooked and tasty, vegetables tasty and come in a large sharing plate with a jug of extra gravy on the side. We had 2 x puddings and 2 x pepsi drinks. Price was £59 so reasonable for the 2 of us. Interesting inside and staff were attentive ( on the day it looked like they had 2 new staff who were learning the ropes ). We had not booked and we were a walk in but they found us a table on the earlier sitting and heard waitress saying to the New team member it will be a busier second sitting as all tables fully booked. Given a 5 star as left happy Well done all at Smugglers Cott

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Smugglers Cott. I had the duck and my wife had the Hake. We had a full dinner and feel that they delivered outstanding value for money.

An absolutely lovely place to eat, steeped in history with a cute dining room. I'm here for seafood on vacation and seafood is what I had! It was surprisingly busy for a quiet Looe Tuesday evening, with a lovely atmosphere. Fantastic meals, among the best I've ever eaten, its really that good. All over the room i could see taste-smiles. Thoroughly recommend the Smuggler's Cott.

Best damn restaurant in the city. We have been here for 5 days, spent 3 dinners there to be able to enjoy the menu, the atmosphere and the wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. On top of this, this is the only place in the city that is serving dinner on a Monday at 8:30pm that is not Indian or Chinese. If we visit the city ever again, we definitely come again to enjoy everything.
Endre K — Google review
Loved the atmosphere, never seen anything like it. Food was ok, a little pricey for what was a little bit of pub grub, however, that seems to be a theme in Looe. I would definitely go again as it was one of the best in Looe. I was really pleased they had gluten free options available.
Mark S — Google review
This was our 2nd visit to this restaurant to celebrate my husbands up and coming 50th birthday whilst on holiday. The reason being for the Yardarm mixed grill. Not one piece of meat could be faulted with a selection of mixed vegetables, home cooked chips and boiled potatoes. The mushroom tagliatelle did not disappoint either and the strawberry pavlova was to die for. Again, we would definitely visit if we are ever in Looe again.

Papa Nino is a cozy restaurant in Looe, offering a blend of traditional Italian cuisine and coastal flavors. With around 20 seats, it's recommended to make reservations in advance due to its popularity. The restaurant is known for its hearty portions and rich dishes, making it a perfect choice after a day of exploring the charming town. If you're seeking a taste of comfort food with the best of coastal cuisine, Papa Nino is an ideal dining spot.
Really enjoyed. Lovely little restaurant with about 20 seats. We wanted fish, and the dishes were lovely. Particularly enjoyed the hot spiced crab. Perhaps a bit of variety of sauces (white wine and cream-based was almost everything) would be better but understand the limitations of a small kitchen. Dessert was very nice too. Cash-only is a massive pain these days (had to go to a cash machine for literally the first time in a year), but that seems to be how they want to run it. The steaks looked amazing btw, bit jealous.
Chris B — Google review
We visited while on our honeymoon, the seating was a bit tight where we were sat which made it a little uncomfortable. The food was delicious and the service was extremely good. Would return if ever back in Looe.
Kate B — Google review
Outstanding in every department service, quality, portion size, flavour. The best restaurant in Looe. Book in advance. You will not be disappointed. Spicy Crab Bake starter is a must try
Roy B — Google review
Waiter service very good just a shame our main meals were poor. Starter: mussles nice, garlic mushrooms looked like they were floating in gravy! Mains; carbanara, very bland with far too much cheese sauce. My partner had the special without the crab just prawns, again too much sauce & very bland. We didn't risk dessert. We let the waiter know our disappointment and paid in full for all dishes.

Thai restaurant
Ocean & Earth Thai Restaurant is a hidden gem in Looe, offering a classic menu of authentic Thai dishes such as curries, stir-fries, and noodles. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and traditional Thai spices to create their flavorful dishes. With over seven years of experience, they have perfected their a la carte menu which includes popular options like Pad Thai noodles, various curries, stir-fries, and spicy papaya salad.
This is a fantastic, if somewhat quirky, Thai restaurant. We arrived to Looe with nowhere booked for dinner and many places seemingly full unless we could wait until 8pm or later. Phoned the Ocean & Earth Thai Restaurant and was told a table was just about to leave so the owner would hold it for us until we got there. From the street, we were having second thoughts, and when you go in its a very small space with alot of tables crammed in very close to each other. The owner is an interesting character and, whilst English, had clearly travelled extensively in Thailand based on the photos all over the walls. I could see how other reviewers might not have taken to him or had brusque responses from him but that was quite charming in a way. His wife does all of the cooking on her own and is an amazing chef - the food was really quite excellent. Despite how busy the restaurant was and the warning on the menu that food may take a while, it was actually quite quick. I can see why others would say its the best Thai they have ever had, it really was good, but I dont feel that I eat Thai food often enough to make that bold a statement. I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone though. You can order many dishes in mild, medium or hot but just be aware that the menu and the owner constantly tell people their medium is like other restaurants hot. I can believe that because we went for mild after being told that and it was still quite spicy! I dont understand why they dont adjust their descriptions to match what people expect rather than having to tell every single customer that the ratings are not what they would normally be everywhere else. Not a criticism, just something that would seemingly make life easier for them... Superb, if I am back this way I may well come again.

We just stumbled here after there being no tables at JuJu's over the road, but so glad we did, as this place is amazing! Ths food was amazing, the service was amazing. We really liked it here and would defo go back. Small, family run and busy, but they still squeesed us in.
Peter M — Google review
Fantastic authentic Thai food. The place has a lovely Thai feel to it, with the decoration and the staff in their colourful shirts too. The food is delicious, really tastes like the food I had in Thailand, clearly authentic and cooked by someone who knows Thai food very well. We had stir fry duck and beef, with chicken satay and spring rolls, completed with sticky mango rice. Thank you for giving us a taste of Thailand 🇹🇭
Tom — Google review
We got a great table on a busy Saturday night without booking. Customer service was very good, we had our damp coats hung up to dry for us by a nice man who then showed us to our table and went through the menu. The young lady working was also great and very helpful. The food was very good (their mild is probably a medium somewhere else and I probably stitched myself up 🥵🤣🤣). Overall an excellent experience and highly recommended 👌👌👌

We enjoyed a delicious meal here, a great way to end our weekend in Looe.
Kate W — Google review
Tried to get a table on the off chance at 7pm to be greeted by a man who looked so inconvenienced i had walked in whilst he was on his phone? Told, "were booked" and then ignored. This place had been recommended to us and we really wanted to try it. After the rude welcome we will NOT be returning.

100% the best restaurant in Looe for freshly cooked, authentic food. Every dish I have had here is delicious. We live here and the Thai is always my recommendation, can’t beat it and the owners are lovely.

Absolutely worth every penny paid! The staff were lovely and honestly the food is the best we've had while eating out in a very long time! 10/10 would highly recommend!
Amy L — Google review
Great service with really friendly staff, we were really looking forward to eating here but if absolutely honest we were a little disappointed, two of us opted for dressed lobster and ended up feeling a little unwell, the lobster was precooked and vacuum packed (boil in the bag) and then warmed up but unfortunately it wasn’t ever so hot which is a cardinal sin so we left most of it. The potatoes were amazing and some of the dishes were fab but the wine was hugely overpriced and overall not what we expected.

i stumbled into this small restaurant, escaping the cold and wet, and was instantly enveloped by a warm welcome and cozy atmosphere. it's unpretentious dining, yet the food is truly outstanding and incredibly inspired. this is exactly the kind of place i love – where the chef interacts with you as you dine, and the dishes are simple but showcase the best of seasonal produce, fresh seafood, and incredible flavor. my god, the flavor! very underrated - come here for an unique gastronomic experience.

Wow just wow, I’ve never been a seafood fan, but I truly am now. John Dory in a curry butter so succulent, monk fish in buffalo sauce was intense and the langoustines were just amazing. Paired a lovely Sauvignon from France. Thank you for probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had!
Neil T — Google review
We ordered multiple dishes off the menu and every item was 11/10. The atmosphere was good and thriving and the views are amazing. I have been coming to Looe annually for holidays for many years and this is hands down the best food I’ve ever had in Looe and possibly the best seafood I’ve had in my life. I also like the personal touch of the chef bringing your meal out to you.

Amazing hidden gem with fresh ingredients, excellent cooking, superb service, and not bad view. We make a special effort on our trips to North Cornwall to fit in time on South Coast in Looe to spend time here. Super fresh ingredients, cooked respectfully but with flair from Fred, great time having Allie looking after us. Lots of small plates to make you reimagine tapas, lovely wines including a good Cornish selection- yay to Trevibban Mill, Fred's spuds are not be missed alongside a changing selection of seasonal vegetables and salads, and the freshest seafood prepared with flair. Can't wait to be back.
Joan K — Google review
Some of the best food I’ve had in a long time, I don’t usually write reviews but it was just that good. Menu is very heavy on fish (as stated in the name) but there are lots of delicious meat/veg options for someone who isn’t super keen on seafood, as my partner isn’t. We had the bread, prawns, burrata and peach salad, and the the ribeye with bordelaise, everything was incredible, the burrata salad isn’t one to miss and the steak was one of the best I’ve had. Expensive but for the quality of the food it is very fair. Lovely cosy atmosphere and open kitchen where you can see the chefs working, not one to miss if you love good food👌🏻
Emillie P — Google review
Booked for two here and had a lovely table by the window so that set a great backdrop for our evening meal. The restaurant is intimate so booking is highly recommended if you want to guarantee a table. Our prawn starter was exceptional, and our fish main meals were the same. The fish is as fresh as it could possibly be, and beautifully cooked and presented. Meals are cooked by the chef, who works within sight, so you can see both the hygiene and experience levels on display. Be adventurous and try something you'd not normally have and you'll not be disappointed. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

My first visit to 'The Old Sail Loft' and it definitely will not be my last. The food was absolutely stunning!!!! I mean STUNNING!!!!! Some of the best I've had. The staff were lovely. I've recently suffered with some very poor health and have mobility problems, so they relocated our table for us so I didn't have to climb the stairs. They were thoughtful and courteous. Lovely restaurant overlooking Looe quayside. Booking is prefferd, but staff are very welcoming and friendly and happy to fit you in at the last minute if there's a space. Food is beautifully presented and cooked to perfection with a varied menu specialising in locally caught fish and steak. The restaurant is upstairs in and old warehouse with a lovely feel to it. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It is a must go to place for anyone who is in the area, if you don't visit anywhere else, you have to go to the old sail loft - at least once.

We visited The Old Sail Loft Restaurant during our weekend in Looe. It’s based in a very quaint old building, and had a lovely outside terrace area too. Unfortunately, it was raining during our visit so we couldn’t enjoy the outdoor area. We took advantage of their 2 course set menu which was very good value for £22 (at time of writing). The Duck Parfait was sublime and the Hake Kiev was also very tasty, albeit a little on the small side. Service was friendly too. If you’re looking for a delicious meal in a lovely surrounds, then The Old Sail Loft Restaurant will certainly tick all the boxes in Looe.

We had an incredible 3 course lunch here; the food was delightful. I had the set lunch menu and it was all delicious, the highlight was definitely the deep fried apple and rhubarb crumble for dessert. The staff were attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Location was perfect too, we sat outside overlooking the harbour and it was just a fantastic first experience of Looe. We'll definitely return.

Absolutely delicious and the set menu is great value. Was surprised the moules came without their shells but this new take on the dish worked incredibly well. The trout starter very tasty and the hake kiev also a big hit. Would definitely come back next time in Looe.

Lovely dog friendly restaurant right on the edge of Looe harbour. The food is outstanding and the service is brilliantly friendly. The charcuterie platter starter is almost a meal in itself so make sure you go when you’re really hungry! Main courses were Sea Bass with Cornish crab and saffron new potatoes / Fish Du Jour which was Hake with parsley sauce, charred tender stem broccoli and potatoes Anna. Wish it wasn’t a 600 mile round trip to visit it. 😉👌🏻
Andy T — Google review
Really delicious food! Beautiful building, only complaint Is that each course took a while to come out, we were there almost 2 hours and we waited almost 40 minutes for the dessert and half a hour each from the starter and then 30 mins for the main, again the service from the staff was brilliant and food was delicious and I'd 1000% return for the quality of the food

Delicious and Nutritious. The soul bowl is a must! The midwife told me to boost my iron levels this will do it! My favourite spot in looe great food, cakes, coffee and the team are just amazing. Thank you for another yummy dish.

What a gem of a cafe. Delightful courtyard with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. A tasty menu and all beautifully presented. Smiley and friendly staff. Dog friendly. Delicious cakes and Scones. Highly recommend.

What a cracking little place. They seem to be really eco conscious, which makes spending here easy. The low ceilings and neutral toned decor gives a sense of calm. Real plants and crafty design features is a feast for the green-fingered type. There is only one toilet which i could see and it was hard to work out if it was occupied or not. I would say the floor space would not work for those in wheelchairs or pushchairs. We did not eat there, however it looked all vegetarian or vegan 🤩🥳 The drinks we had were tasty and were served at our table with a smile. There are board games available to play at no cost.

Lovely hidden gem of a vegetarian cafe nestled between two. buildings, it quite hard to miss. Food is absolutely gorgeous, full of flavour and well presented. Even on a busy bank holiday, service was quick. The courtyard not only gives a cosy secluded atmosphere, on blazing hot summers day it can offer some relief to the heat, and since its dog friendly your k9 friend will enjoy the cool, quiet space. Somes seats do still get the sun if you prefer. There are also plenty of tables inside if the weather is not so summery.

After a week of pasties and fish and chips, we were happy to stumble on this place and have some fresh and amazing salads. The food was so good, I wish we had discovered it earlier. Beautiful cakes too and a nice friendly, earthy atmosphere. Recommend!

Wow what a find ! Tucked away off the busy street in a quiet, leafy courtyard. Food all looked delicious so it was hard to choose BUT I can confirm the Soul Bowl was outstanding. Such beautiful& delicate flavours, well balanced. And Cinnamon Crunch was perfect with a freshly brewed loose leaf tea. But I did have to share it !! Thoroughly recommend & v friendly staff are to be commended too. Thank you

For our first time here, we were surprised at finding it was a vegetarian based cafe. My wife and I came in with little expectations but left wanting more. Food was delicious and so were the drinks. Taste and nutritious. We again came back a few days later for a second meal just as they were stopping food. They accommodated us and we both had their soul bowls and again didn't disappoint. Would recommend everyone to try.

La Bocca Looe is a traditional Italian restaurant and pizzeria known for its fresh, wood-fired pizzas and hand-stretched pasta dishes. The ambiance is youthful with dark walls and red accents, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The menu features delicious options like the Margherita pizza and spicy Inferno, as well as linguine alla puttanesca. Visitors praise the hardworking team's excellent service and the high-quality ingredients used in their flavorful pizzas.
Had left dinner too late on Sunday whilst holidaying - lots of other places said they were open but that wasn't true! Called up here and they were until 9pm! Ran over and got a table. The server was super friendly, lots of yummy choices on the menu. I had 2 for £18 cocktails, and the four cheese pizza with added chorizo - very yummy! We shared the dough sticks as a starter and shared the special chocolate orange cheesecake for dessert! Glad we stumbled across this place!

Although we didn't pre-book fortunately there was room for our group of 8. I had visited previously so happy for a return visit. My husband and I decided to share the Corfu and Gamberi pizzas along with a side of truffle fries. I was so hungry that I got struck straight into my meal without talking photos of the food. All plates were cleared and the Gamberi does have quite a chilli kick to it and I was glad to be washing my meal down with a glass of local cider.

As a team they are giving the perfect service from the moment you walk through the door ! An amazing buzz and you feel the atmosphere ! We arrived at 5pm by 530pm it was full ! The food and service were excellent. We returned after many years for a birthday celebration and it did not disappoint. The staff were really accommodating and arranged for us as a large group to be near each other. The starters were so good we filled up before our pizzas arrived! We arrived before it opened at 5pm so as to make sure we were seated. It quickly filled up though.

A lovely place for our family meal! We all enjoyed the food very much and the staff are lovely. La Bocca is in a fab spot and a great atmosphere too. The linguine arabiata was very tasty as was the bruschetta - thank you La Bocca for a fab meal! ❤️

This place is a great choice if you’re after an authentic pizza. I have to say though, the calamari starter we had beat our main hands down. It was super fresh and cooked to perfection. My partners coffee wasn’t had a calzone and I had a pasta dish which was quite spicy but delicious. Really buzzing atmosphere and friendly staff. Would recommend a visit.

Situated in the center of town, The Golden Guinea is a charming eatery that offers a wide range of delectable dishes, from locally sourced fish to lighter options like sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Housed in a magnificent centuries-old fisherman's cottage with well-preserved original features, this establishment also boasts an inviting outdoor area complete with a bar for enjoying meals al fresco on sunny days or warm evenings.
Seated us immediately and got us drinks straight away. Food was with us in 15 minutes and was delicious Can't fault the place. A must if you're wanting a quick pub lunch.

Spotted this place yesterday and planned to come back today for a sunday roast, as this place has a dog friendly inside section for small dogs. Popped in today, unfortunately, a bit too late as they had run out of roasts. But not a problem, perfect sized and well priced children's menu. And Myself and the Wife were not disappointed with the crab cakes. They were amazing. Service was lovely, the staff and atmosphere were great.
ProvenYeti57 B — Google review
The food is good, but in my opinion needs a little work, the liver and bacon and Caesar salad had no fault (see photos) but the BBQ chicken didn’t really have much BBQ about it. As for the seafood pasta a lovely well seasoned well balanced dish, but it could do with a larger selection of local seafood. The establishment seem very accommodating as while being there we saw people with prams being located to places with easy access that didn’t impact anyone.

We went for lunch and had two ciabattas one prawn and one steak. I have to say that the filling for the prawn was very poor, not many prawns and watery sauce. We have eaten here in the past and it has been good. Considering Looe is a fishing town it was very disappointing.
Dave C — Google review
2 x fish and chips worst ever under cooked, cod was grey and jelly like not white and flaky. It was replaced but neither of us eat much because we had been put off, so took it home for the cats ,they refused it !! We also had a tuna ciabatta which was dry no butter and hardly any filling. Not recommended would never go again.
Richard D — Google review
An absolute scam. From the outside it looks alright and that’s being kind. The ribs tasted of Old Granny’s toes. Don’t get me started on the chicken, dry I would have rather ate air it was the dry. The chips were cold and disgusting. The pulled pork was horrid tasted of bunonion. My mums pork tastes way better than that. Would suggest not going here. Normally I say a Cornish gem but this was a Cornish oh I couldn’t think do a good rhyme.

I cannot recommend the Golden Guinea enough! We stumbled upon this place about a year ago, and it just keeps getting better every time we go back. The food is absolutely fantastic—always something delicious on the menu. (Guinea burger is our go to) As for Sundays, it’s live band; and never disappoints, amazing and really adds to the vibe. The staff are truly epic! Mel is a legend and really knows how to run the place smoothly, making everyone feel welcome. And Charlotte, she is just brilliant—so friendly and inviting! Honestly, I can’t wait for my next visit. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy great food and vibes, this is it! 🙏😘❤️ lots of love Laura & Jamie xx

The portion sizes were perfect, leaving us satisfied without being overwhelmed – just how it should be! The service was another highlight. An absolutely fantastic place to eat - the daisy shaped scones are large, fluffy, and delicious and the sandwiches are proper 'doorsteps'. Ever so slightly off of the High Street but all the better for that and well worth the 30 second walk up the hill!

Is a small cafe with 5 tables only. We were lucky to be number 3 to entry at 9am. Order bacon and egg sandwiches and sausage and egg sandwiches. Baby had child breakfast. Bread was thick slice, egg was runny spot on, sausage was locally sourced, chocolate milkshake was lovely. It was good overall. Please prepare cash as sometime the machine didn't work out. Sam was super friendly.

A Hidden Gem in Looe Bay – A Must-Visit for Indian Cuisine Lovers! We dined at this fantastic Indian restaurant twice during our recent holiday in Looe Bay, and both experiences were absolutely top-notch. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome – warm, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. The food is where this place truly shines. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and clearly made with fresh ingredients. The spices were beautifully balanced – rich and aromatic without being overpowering. We tried a mix of curries, starters, and naan breads, and everything arrived piping hot and cooked to perfection. tender meat in deeply flavorful sauces that reminded us of authentic home-cooked meals. What made our visits even more special was the atmosphere. It’s cozy, relaxed, and perfect for a family dinner after a day exploring the coast. We tried this curry house out after seeing it had won an award and it not being too far a drive from St Germans where we live. We were not disappointed. Some of the best Indian starters we have ever had. The mains had a lot to live up to. An again they were extremely tasty. Staff very attentive. We will be back again. We booked 6pm which was perfect. It was not so busy. By the time we left it was packed.

We have just tried our first take away from here, and it was absolutely delicious. The online ordering process was straight forward, the food was ready on time and the staff were lovely. Would highly recommend and we will be back on our next trip!

This cafe is absolutely gorgeous! What a gem nestled next to the harbour! The bacon roll was a decent size and was very tasty , as was the cheese scone served with cheese and chutney. I had a cream tea with a fruit scone cream and jam and it was delicious!! The latte was good and they serve my favourite tea, Cornish!! Will definitely visit again 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We came to the lookout for a traditional Cornish cream tea whilst on holiday. I ordered a cream tea with a pot of tea and my Husband asked if he could have Nutella instead of butter with a hot chocolate. The lady behind the counter said she had never been asked that before but was happy to accommodate my awkward husband. He said the hot chocolate was one of the best he had had. Thank you.

Very disappointed, we attempted to visit twice but was closed on both occasions despite visiting during the advertised opening hours. On our third attempt it was open so went inside and stood at the counter only to be completely ignored by the two members of staff, after standing there for a few minutes we presumed it was table service so took a seat . Again we were just ignored so eventually got up and left. It’s a common courtesy to greet customers on arrival and advise if it’s table service etc. we stumbled on another cafe down the road where we were greeted on arrival with a friendly hello and told to take a seat and we’d be served as soon as possible. Much nicer experience!

We just popped in for a drink. The staff were unfriendly and not interested in us , I think because we were not eating. Many tables had signs asking that you might be asked to move if a larger group came into the pub to eat- fair enough. I sat at a large empty table in a cosy area with the sign asking if smaller groups would move if a larger group came in. My husband was told we couldn't sit there. We would have happily moved when a larger party came. It was not necessary to be pushy. Shame. Lovely quaint pub The food looked ok too.

I put my head round a lot of pub doors during my stay in Looe and this was the only one that tempted me to enter. It's a charming pub/restaurant with low oak beams and old pictures/photos on the white walls. Cosy and atmospheric and the prices are not excessive. I ate there three times; the food was lovely and the service friendly. The Doom Bar was very well kept. Yum. It's very popular and, although I had no problem getting a table during the week, I'm glad I had the foresight to book at lunchtime for the Friday night as I got one of the last two tables.

Been to Looe many times and have always walked past. We've got kids and it seemed to be more of an adult pub. (Zero issues with this). Plus the outside didn't have "kerb appeal" Kids are now a bit older so walking past we decided to go in for a drink. Very friendly, quirky interior, you can see the river, great place for a drink. Returned later in the week to try the food. It was actually really good, sensibly priced and the server was fantastic. Next time we are here, we will go again.

The place was clean and welcoming, and the bar staff and waitress were very polite and friendly. We ordered 3 fish and chips, 2 pints of Coke, a non-alcoholic Thatchers, and a blackcurrant Thatchers, total came to £69. Food arrived in about 15 minutes, which was great, but unfortunately, we were a little disappointed with the fish and chips. The fish was quite oily, the batter seemed overcooked, and the chips were also on the overdone side. Perhaps our expectations were a bit high, especially as it’s a lovely fishing village and we've had some excellent fish and chips recently in Whitby. That said, the customer service was brilliant, and we really appreciated the dog-friendly atmosphere, big plus! Based on the overall experience (especially the service), we’re giving it 3 stars. Without that, the food alone would have been closer to a 2. DJ Reviews

Didn’t stay at the hotel but did use the restaurant one night. Wasn’t very busy at all as we were the only ones sat in the dining area, so I can’t comment on atmosphere. The menu was slightly small, compared to their old previous menu I had seen online. 3 of us ordered the 10oz sirloin steak dish which was really good, very tender and good quality for quite a good price but one of us ordered the chicken burger which did look slightly pink unfortunately. Might have just been the lighting as it did take a while to come, probably around 35 minutes (I assume not because of the steaks) but it still put them off once noticed. Can’t fault the restaurant however as we didn’t make anyone aware of this issue and we chose to leave it, so also can’t comment on how that would have been handled. I would recommend the steak dish.

Huge disappointment. Go somewhere else, everyone! 1. They didn’t even give me a knife at a fish and chips place – seriously? 2. The floor was so slippery, it felt unsafe. Be careful not to fall. 3. The burger came with no sauce, no veggies – just plain meat and bun. Totally bland. Never going back. Waste of money and time.

We sat downstairs at the fish shop and didn't realise that meant we would be served our food in takeaway containers and that we wouldn't be given cultural. It just works have been nice to have that explained before we were disappointed. The food was ok though. Fresh fish, very nice chips, a great curry sauce. Didn't like the brioche type rolls much but that's personal preference. I'd visit again though.

On holiday, wanted to try some of the fish and chips down here. Food was amazing but cant say the same about the service. Rude and didnt want to even say hello!

Unfortunately we went on a bank holiday Monday so the place had probably been rammed all day. They were cues outside the door so it was very busy. The restaurant upstairs was closed probably due to the amount of people wanting to use it. It was easier to close it than try and offer a poor service. The food was quite nice. Our chips were definitely hot. Lots of salt and vinegar and my wife enjoyed her cod pieces

I've got to hand it to them, Kelly's is a really great fish and chips shop and always provides lovely fish and chips. My sister particularly likes the pea fritters which virtually nowhere else in the country seems to do. I'm afraid the service often leaves a lot to be desired though.

With its personable service and stunning ocean vistas, Sea Kitchen provides a memorable dining experience for visitors to Looe.
Lovely ocean view setting, we sat outside due to us having our dog with us, but did nt mind in the slightest as the weather was lovely and we saw Looe Carnival at it s best .Dinner and a show ! The menu offered plenty of choice and I ordered the fresh crab linguine which did not disappoint .This was a lovely start to our holiday and we will return again .

One of the most tasty mussels I’ve ever tried in such a scenic view on the sea and the atmosphere making it all! Grandiose 10/10. Nonetheless I would see a more attractive terrasse like the interior that is fabulous ! Waitresses (boss) and chef are really smiley and hard workers making it very trustworthy that the food will be fabulous. Highly recommended !

The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. We also ordered cheesec cake and tiramisu and both were amazing. Staff was very friendly, overall great experience.

Booked our seat online which was easy. Service was with a smile. Very welcoming and friendly. The Maitre de was very knowledgeable about the menu and described in detail the food on offer. The menu changes depending on the catch of that day. So it is a bit of a gamble. Having said that. You are guaranteed the freshest fish... My wife had monkfish kebabs as her starter which she said was amazing, the riata was the freshest tasting beautiful side dish and I had mackerel pate, which I loved. For mains we both took the vegetarian option due to the limited fish options. That is not a complaint. The hummus was beautiful, served with homemade tortilla chips. With a side of parmesan fries and olives. Again, beautiful. For desert I had the cheesecake. To be honest, it was too small for my liking and as it was an unbaked cheesecake, the cheese side was more of a mousse, which was slightly disappointing. We chose a bottle of Mucadet to compliment the food. That was a great choice. All in all, I am no expert but would give the restaurant 8.5...it would have been 9 but for a couple of snobbish grumbles. The hannafore hotel is having some building works done and we were sat with our backs against a building site. Also there was a wedding taking place which made the upstair balcony above us quite busy. One thoughtless person threw a cigarette butt off which luckily landed to the side of our table. Upwind...I had to get up and stamp it out. Unfortunately for the restaurant, they have no control over that... Would I recommend eating here? Absolutely! Service of quality fresh food in a beautiful place, all with a smile! Why wouldn't I?
David L — Google review
I loved the experience, service, and atmosphere. It was lovely! However, I ordered food with dietary restrictions. The lady was very polite, and she took note of everything confirming that my food won't contain that. Unfortunately, food came with all the ingredients containing those that I couldn't eat. I haven't noticed it in my starters, only noticed this in dinner and felt really poorly after. In the end, she came back, and we let her know about it. She let us know that she will talk to the kitchen. Unfortunately, due to this, we won't be coming back and do not recommend it to anyone with dietary restrictions: intolerances or allergies.

I think it is dangerous. Parasites in fish, it seems that it is opisthorchiasis. I changed my review after the second visit to this restaurant. On my first visit, I really enjoyed the food, I love fish and seafood. In my second visit I I saw fish parasite in my food. The waiter told me that it was not dangerous and suggested replacing my dish with something else. What do you think is dangerous? And is the pleasure of this food worth the risk that is possible for your health? Why do such situations arise? From lack of cleanliness and attention to cooking? From a poor quality fish supplier? Well, if you are still interested in the premises of this restaurant, then this is a fish restaurant with 9 tables inside and 7 tables outside, on the seashore. The entire front of the restaurant overlooks the sea, as well as the trash can in the parking lot in front of the restaurant. The interior is simple. Cleanliness is not at the highest level, the windows are not washed, the summer terrace is not neat and tidy, the furniture is dirty, there are a lot of gulls ... Opening hours from Wednesday to Saturday, a bar from 5 pm, a kitchen from 6 pm until what time this restaurant is open only to God and Chef. On Saturday, the table is better to book. All of the above is just my subjective opinion.

Fantastic little restaurant an absolute gem in the heart of Looe well worth the walk back up Barbican Hill after! It was so good we ate here twice during our week’s stay in wonderful Looe, the food is delicious, generous sized portions (we only had a main each both meals), reasonably priced considering the cost at other local establishments, so tasty and the owner is such a lovely friendly lady, great service from both young ladies too :) Tip: book in advance as it’s usually busy

Had a fabulous evening in this lovely friendly restaurant in Looe. The food was great and good value for money but what made the evening, was the two fabulous female staff members who made us smile and laugh whilst there and they made my husband and I, and our dog Wilson feel like VIPs. I know our waitress was Lucy but unfortunately I didn't take the other ladies name who came out front from the kitchen to chat to guests. Well done on the best customer service we received anywhere all holiday in Looe 😁

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Pepe's last night. Firstly, we appreciated being fit in when we turned up without a booking. Secondly, I particularly appreciated that they were happy to adjust my enchiladas to make them fully vegan. Although they were prepared differently to what I expected or have experienced before, they were still delicious, as were my husband's fajitas. The service was excellent and the place has a casual, comfortable vibe. 👌

We arrived as a party of 7 and had the most wonderful experience. The owner was extremely polite and friendly, even going as far as to decorate our table and leave a birthday card for one of our party! And our young son was delighted to be given a game to play while he waited. The food was delicious but it was the service that made our night!

This place is absolutely amazing!! I 1000% recommend this place if you are in Looe!! The food is just gorgeous and really good portion sizes! For starters we ordered the mozzarella sticks, spicy crab cakes, chilli beef nachos and the normal nachos then for our mains we ordered 2 surf and turfs, baby back ribs and the chicken fajitas and everything was delicious! We visited for my birthday and we wanted to go somewhere new and I can say we are going back again!! This is our new favourite restaurant by far. The staff made my birthday one of the best I’ve had and we’re all so lovely every single person in the restaurant had an amazing time. Thankyou so much to all the staff who work there you have made my 22nd birthday one of the best and I can’t wait to eat here again😁😁

Food was nice, its as you would expect buying pub grub, the chips are lovely! Atmosphere was nice, especially once some music came on. We were sad to hear the live music was cancelled last minute, but of course these things happen. The reason I'm giving 3 stars: I was disappointed to find that my meal wasn't exactly what they had stated on the menu. Sadly the part that was missing was the bit I bought the meal for. I wasnt told said particular item wasnt available, they replaced it with something else and hoped I wouldn't notice. If I was informed the item was missing upon placing my order I would have ordered something else instead. Food service was very slow.

The Jolly Sailor Inn, affectionately known as The Jolly by locals, is a rustic 16th-century pub located in West Looe. It offers oak-beamed rooms and a complimentary cooked breakfast for guests. The inn has a rich history, being established in 1516 and is considered one of the oldest pubs in the UK. Its low beamed ceilings and flagstone floors add to its historic charm.
Recently stayed in a property just up the road from this fantastic pub. We ended up in here three out of the seven nights and each visit was perfect. The locals and staff were very friendly, we were instantly made to feel at home. The food was great - the extra hot chilli sauce deserves a mention - and the quiz and pizza night really good fun. We tried a lot of pubs in Looe during our week and this is the best one by far. Keep doing what you are doing.

We were very fortunate to stay at the Jolly Sailor last month when other arrangements fell through. Zoë was absolutely amazing; so very helpful, and a lovely person overall. Went in for tea in the week and the food was great as were the staff. We then return for Sunday lunch which was also great. The reason they dont get 5 stars is simply because they charge £1.95 for extra gravy, per 1 and I dont this is viable when you also purchase extras. Other than that would strongly recommend.

There was music on at the time, and plenty of people we there enjoying the tunes which lead to a very positive and friendly atmosphere. Been coming to this pub every year when we holiday in looe and always love this place as it's a proper old time pub were from day one have always feels welcomed when you go in from the staff that remember us and our Tilly the quality of food and drinks in a relaxing atmosphere well worth popping in for a drink.

I’ll start by saying it’s a nice pub, but in my opinion the food lets it down. It be great if you were just going for a drink, the pub being dressed in lots of nautical chandlery. But I wouldn’t eat the food again, being dry and tasteless, making me feel like it is all probably frozen. The sandwiches are average at best, and the salads could have a bit more effort behind them, and I know a lot of people will complain about me saying that, but I was a chef in a pub earlier in my career and I know it’s not hard.
Luke A — Google review
Regrettably we entered this pup for food as it mentioned children’s play area and they served jacket potato which is what we fancied. Pub was pretty empty. Menu was limited and was up there in price when your advertising burgers at £15+ we expected some food made with effort to warrant the prices. The children’s play area was a used colouring book in the corner so we decided to make entertainment ourselves for the kids… 45 minutes after ordering we’re wondering what’s going on so I asked at the bar was told we’re next 5 minutes and it was or least one meal arrived. 10 minutes later we received the rest. 2 minutes after that I took mine back to the bar as it was disgusting. A hard potato very bland chilly. The kids persisted with rock hard chips that had no internals just a shell of hardness with nothing inside, I enjoy a triple cooked chip done right this was not that. Staff came over and asked if I wanted another meal but I said you have already wasted one hour of my time I’m not prepared to wait again and give you another hour of my time. I didn’t ask for a refund and none was offered. My partner couldn’t stomach hers either and returned it and asked for a refund which she got. The kids were upset at an over cooked burger he said thinner than McDonald’s but like a air hockey puck. For us it was the wasted time on a nice day we wanted to be back in the sun as the pubs quite dark inside so we upped and left having spent 1.2 hours and left hungry. I spent about £45, £17 was refunded and we had to go find food elsewhere. I don’t write reviews in anger and wait till enough time has passed, I try to offer advice which in this case I would honestly say give up on the food it really was terrible and your charging rates that other places charge but they put in the effort therefore deserve to charge that. One hour for any meal in an empty pub is difficult to defend.

The restaurant prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients such as freshly caught fish, farm-grown vegetables, and quality meats combined with traditional Chinese elements. Their menu offers a variety of classic dishes like sweet and sour, chow mein, fried rice, as well as set menus for those looking to explore new flavors.
Me and my partner are currently on holiday in Looe and have thoroughly enjoyed a takeout from peking garden this evening. Absolutely delicious Chinese. Food cooked to perfection and tasted very fresh. Safe to say we cleared our plates! Such good value for money too! Thank you 😊

Another waste of money take away from Peking Garden , Duck so dry and overcooked it could double as firewood, forgot the sweet and sour sauce to go with prawn balls. We use Peking Garden regularly and everytime the duck is overcooked, even put it in the comments not to overcook !! So no more, will be going to the Barbican from now on . The only good thing is the delivery driver he's lovely guy . The prices are on the high side just a shame the standard of cooking isn't too. 😡

If you’re on holiday and fancy a Chinease AVOID!!!. The food shouldn’t be consumed. We ordered a variety of food, and nothing was to satisfactory standards. Absolutely dreadful set meal for 2 @ £38 we threw most of it away. The starters were overdone and dry. Main courses. Tasteless, thick with thickening or cornflour. No nice contrast of flavours. The salad garnish was obviously prepared much earlier in the day. We are local and will never use this restaurant again!!

A lovely restaurant with a warm, relaxed atmosphere and cheerful staff who made us feel very welcome. The menu is quite limited, aiming for a fine dining experience, and while the quality is generally high, it does come at a fairly steep price. Most of our group really enjoyed their meals. I had the trio of pork and beef to start—personally, I found the beef a bit overpowering and the pork slightly dry. The desserts, however, were outstanding and easily the highlight of the meal. I’d definitely recommend dining here, but be sure to book in advance and be prepared for the higher-end pricing.

We looked for a new place in Looe for our anniversary meal. Decided to choose fifty based on the great reviews and pics etc. The food is a la carte/Michelin style, quality rich food. We had the duck breast & fillet steak. Both were tasty. Might be a suggestion to serve a slightly bigger fillet though, something like 6 oz. I think ours was maybe 4 at best, however it all tasted superb. The sauces were particularly nice. It's a small restaurant/bistro with ten tables, so very quaint. We would definitely recommend.

Awful. Ordered delivery and food arrived stone cold - not even slightly warm, as though it had just come out of the fridge. Phoned to inform them straight away and they simply said they’ll try better next time. No offer of compensation or replacement food. £25 wasted. Will never use again.

So far I've had three takeaway - a different curry with rice - meals from the Viceroy in Looe and they've all been delicious. I would recommend the Viceroy to anyone who likes indian food. I like it so much I'm living off curry from the Viceroy all week while I'm in the area. It's great food!

Wasnt sure about this place after reading some reviews but so glad I tried it!!! On holiday down here and other than the Indian I have back home it has to be the best I’ve had. Got it delivered to the campsite im on for only £3 , the young delivery guy was friendly. Arrived within an hour on a Saturday night and was lovely and hot, average prices for an Indian , and I’d definitely recommend the place

Had a takeaway whilst on holiday in the area. Cannot fault the curry, mixed tandoori starter, 3 meat samosa were tasty and crispy. Would definitely recommend.

Wanted an Indian takeaway and reading reviews and rating of 4 unsure about this place . But I definitely give them a 5 Very tasty , hot and the takeaway was delivered straight to our door on the holiday park we were staying on. Excellent service . Thankyou

Ambiance and staff was lovely. Food selection was inspiring. The full English was sub-par, not living up to it's description.
Endre K — Google review
We popped in to this cute little cafe for coffee and breakfast. Our eggs were perfectly poached and the coffee was served hot. The cafe is dog friendly and a water bowl was provided. The service was friendly and the cafe had a nice atmosphere. The cafe doesn’t have toilets so we had to use public toilets across the road. It also would have been nice if we could have had a wholemeal option for the toast.
Hamida K — Google review
Lovely little cafe, we called in for breakfast several times during our 2 week stay near by. Food is well prepared and tasty. Price at £ 10.95 for a full English is much cheaper than elsewhere in town so with 2 of everything is really good value for money. Well worth a visit .

Great for breakfast, we love this cafe. Great staff, excellent service. Only problem is the parking, which they have no control over.

This cafe is a gem at the end of the road. It’s near the car park and the bus stop and has some seating across the street. The staff are very kind and accommodating. The coffee was absolutely delicious and if there is anyone (or the owners please!) who knows what coffee they use, then please let me know!! The food was really good and really pleased we went!

We were visiting Looe Town yesterday feeling hungry. Not knowing the place very well we saw another cafe opposite the car park and had a cooked breakfast there. We walked around town afterwards and found TASTY CORNER. I can't believe the difference of the atmosphere, prices of foods, excellent views, cleanliness, the warmth of their place and the friendly staff compared to the other cafe we had breakfast previously. We enjoyed our freshly cooked scones and are very happy we found Tasty Corner, we will be going back there again for a tasty full English breakfast.

Little Barn is a restaurant in Cornwall that serves incredibly delicious food. It offers a wide selection of drinks as well. While the prices may be slightly high, they are justified by the high quality of the dishes. The staff is friendly and helpful, although there might be a small wait between courses. However, this gives you an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful view from the restaurant. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth visiting Little Barn for its exceptional dining experience.
Absolutely beautiful food. We visited 11th August with our two children during our stay in Cornwall for a week on holiday. The food was outstanding. Excellent range of drinks choices also. The food is a little pricey but definitely worth it and you know you are paying for quality. All the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a little bit of a wait between starters and mains but we were not in a rush to leave. Instead we sat and looked out at the lovely view. We will definitely visit again if we are in the area. Highly recommend.

Five ⭐. The restaurant itself is beautifully set out with lovely views. The staff are friendly and polite and the food is superb. We chose from the set lunch menu and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sally M — Google review
We went to Little Barn for my mum's 50th birthday dinner on Saturday 3rd September. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the decor is modern and spacious without feeling like you're on top of other diners. They also have a terrace which in daylight and weather permitted, I could imagine the views and dining expirience to be wonderful. Their drinks menu was huge with a great selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, as I was driving I settled for a 0% gin they had mixed with and frobisher elderflower presse which was really lovely and reasonably priced. For starter I had Scallops, which were lovely, the plating was beautiful and the flavors were all great together. For main Lamb Rump and it tasted wonderful. The picture does the food no justice, but it's an example of how wonderful their plating was! We were so impressed with everything. The staff at Little Barn are all super friendly, our servers were really understanding of the fact I am Coeliac and, Aaron their manager, was able to go through the menu with me which was great, they are able to cater for my allergens which is a huge plus. We had my mum's cake delivered in the morning by Rachel Bond, who did an excellent job of our mum's cake, it was beautiful and the restaurant held it for us which was very kind of them. The whole experience we had was delightful and I would 100% recommend Little Barn for anyone who wants an atmospheric dinner, whether it be a birthday, wedding, special celebration or date it is an absolute gem surrounded by countryside. Thank you and we can't wait to return!

The warm and friendly service provided by Julie and Julia creates an inviting atmosphere that makes everyone feel at home. We had a lovely small selection of tapas, just exactly what we needed. There was a good choice for us (pescatarians), everything well cooked and very tasty! We tried a sherry and mint cocktail (I've forgotten the name!) which was refreshing and delicious, complementing our food. Lovely, friendly, happy atmosphere, good service, great hosting.

Absolutely delicious food, fantastic relaxed service and very dog friendly. The food is incredible. Simple ingredients done really, really well. Portions were fantastic making it amazing value for money too. The ladies who run the place are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They clearly put a lot of love into everything they do. Our dog loved the trip too. She was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed curling up under our table. It’s small which really adds to the charm but also means I would definitely book in advance so I didn’t miss out. Second time we have visited in as many years and we’ll definitely be back.

Just left Juju’s tonight after a fantastic meal! This place is so friendly and makes you feel right at home. It’s honestly the best meal we’ve had in a very, very long time the flavours were absolutely exquisite. Even my little girl, who’s usually a fussy eater, tried everything and loved it! Highly recommend we can’t wait to come back. 🍽️✨ If I could give more stars I would ❤️

On rare occasions I find myself wondering why I can't give more than a 5 star review. Ju-Ju's is one of those times. It all starts with a welcome that is so warm and friendly that even if you have not met the staff before, you feel that they should be somewhere at the top of your Christmas card list. It's a select tapas menu that you will be served. Select because these dishes have been tried and tested over a number of years. Straight, honest food cooked from the heart that delivers beautiful flavours. Stand outs for me are the meatballs, crab cakes, croquettes and any one of the three topas. The menu is well priced and there is a drinks menu that should satisfy any palate. I know that when I next visit Looe I will be having an evening at Ju-Ju's, probably more than one, and I'm already looking forward to it.

A very cosy and intimate little restaurant. Had a super meal this evening with great selection of plates to share. Plenty of variety to choose from. Fish & chips restaurant
Fish and chips takeaway
The Barbican Parade takeaway in Looe offers classic fish and chips along with various accompaniments like baked beans, mushy peas, and gravy. They also serve appetizing options such as dirty fries, onion rings, and a pea fritter. Another nearby restaurant called Ben's Plaice has been garnering positive reviews and attention on social media since its opening. Upon visiting the establishment, customers are greeted by friendly staff who serve freshly cooked meals.
After going to Looe from Redruth for the day especially to sample a fish lunch in Ben's Plaice, it was truly worth all the effort. We had read some very positive reviews about them and wanted to see for ourselves. Both our meals had beautifully cooked fish coated in a very tasty golden batter and the crunchiest chips we've had, we were not disappointed. My wife had Haddock and chips and I had Hake and chips as I always prefer the stronger flavour that Hake has when it's on a menu, the slice of lemon was a nice touch too, offered to all. Ben's have very friendly and knowledgeable staff that greet you; kindly explaining their cooking ethos if you just take the time to ask. The fish and chips were both gluten free as all the food they serve there was. Neither of us require this, it's just provided for everyone. From memory they can also accommodate a coeliac diet, so please ask them, they will gladly tell you I'm sure. The fish bar itself is not in the town centre, but further out as a quick online location check will show. We walked there with the aid of Google maps, so it was a bit of a trek from the harbour, but we were not disappointed in the least. There is ample seating inside and out if you don't want a takeaway, with proper metal cutlery provided, not the tiny wooden fork you tend to see elsewhere. Once our waistlines have subsided sufficiently, I'm sure we will be back.
Russell L — Google review
Fantastic takeaway with small seating areas indoors & outdoors, all cooked fresh to order, THE best fish & chips I can’t remember enjoying some as much as this ever, so tasty and the batter was really crisp covering white fluffy haddock and gorgeous chunky chips (tip: share a large portion), we ate inside and staff were so lovely & friendly, decent sized portions reasonably priced for the quality & quantity, a shared side order of mushy peas is a must as well as homemade tartare sauce which was just yum! You can buy soft drinks or bottles of local beer & cider too the perfect accompaniment :)
Soosan W — Google review
Down in Looe on holiday, and we ordered had haddock, cod, chips and their home made tartar sauce. The service was friendly and wonderful and everything was cooked fresh. We can honestly say that the food was exemplary and the best fish and chips we had all had for a very long time. We would very much recommend Ben's plaice to anyone wanting amazing service and food

All my work colleagues told me this is the best fish n chips.... They were right. The fish was beautifully cooked and real potato chips were also fried to perfection... Not at all greasy, nicely packaged for transportation home. Excellent choice on the menu *subject to availability... But one would expect that. Reasonably priced too.

We had the most amazing fish and chips at Bens Plaice. We wanted to try it out on holiday as we had heard many good things. It definitely didn’t disappoint! The best fish and chips we’ve had. Also the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

I've been waiting to visit Ben's Plaice since they opened! Heard great reviews, and seen gorgeous photos on Facebook. Tonight, we visited and thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Super friendly and helpful staff, and freshly cooked food. The selection of food available on the specials board is impressive, as I've never seen so much choice in a chippy before. Keep up the great work, and we look forward to trying out other dishes next time we pop in!

The Admiral Boscarn is a historic pub located in Looe, Cornwall, offering a glimpse into the town's past as a hub for fishermen and smugglers. The pub overlooks East Looe Beach and features an old nightclub ambiance inside. Visitors can enjoy a variety of beers, including local options, while taking in sea views from the outdoor area with picnic tables. The beer garden hosts live music events and karaoke upstairs, while the downstairs bar offers a relaxed atmosphere.
To be honest, the interior of this place wasn't really my cup of tea. However, the cocktail I ordered had a good amount of rum and not too much ice and I liked how quiet it was, the beer garden was nice with a good view of the ocean and I loved the two delightful cats. The little grey one was very chatty, friendly and head booped my hand. If I find myself in Looe again, I will return here for the cats. ☺️

We came here for an early lunch and we entered as it opened. It is a huge place. So if you want to find some quiet place to sit you'll find it. We sat in the garden area, and it was set out lovely very pretty with boarders of flowers and lots of plants. A great view over the bay. We were introduced to Sonic, the cat who was a wonderful host. The food was basic but served the purpose. The staff were friendly and helpful. It started to get busy as time went on. However, we were there just at the right time. It does have signs about the seaguls. However, they did not bother us.

Stopped here afew times over our week in Looe, lovely place with an amazing beer garden that over looks the beach area, great suntrap and lots of flowers. Definitely makes for a good stop off. Didn't have any food but did look nice from what we saw others having. Good beer selection and service was great too. Loved getting visits from Sonic the cat to our table too for some loves and strokes. Really recommend calling in.

When in Looe, make sure to visit The Sandwich Bar on Quay Street for a delightful culinary experience. While renowned for its fresh crab sandwich, the menu offers a variety of other fillings made to order on white or brown bread. The unassuming takeaway shop also features breakfast rolls and seafood options like the special lobster roll with salad. Visitors praise the establishment for its unbeatable value and quality, with offerings such as a triple decker crab sandwich at an unbelievable price.
We decided to call at The Sandwich Bar for a light lunch while on a recent visit to Looe. If you like seafood, I can highly recommend the crab sandwich. There was plenty of crab meat on it, and the bread was really thick. We also ordered 2 tuna and one cheese sandwich, all of which were lovely, with no complaints from us. I can highly recommend anyone to take a look, and we will definitely be back next time we visit Looe.

Unpretentious but probably the best value/quality food and drinks to be had in Looe (in my humble opinion!). A triple decker crab sandwich packed with white and brown crab meat, locally caught and hand picked, for £5.80!!!!!! Served on a paper plate with optional salad this is unbelievable value, and only yards from the fish quay. Find yourself somewhere to sit and relax with a sandwich, coffee and my book "Professor Harry Parker and the Tunnels of Argonaut Bay" by Steve Pick available on Amazon kindle.

Oh my god this is the best place to get a crab sandwich or roll!!!! Came here last year and it was fantastic the sandwich was packed with crab meat , so as I was down on holiday this year I had to come back and I wasnt disappointed I had a crab roll and again was full of crab, yes people might think a bit expensive at £12.50 but it’s definitely with every penny!! The service has always been spot on too with friendly chatty staff. What more can you ask for???

Not worth the money we had a microwaved cheese burger??? No onion options????We had a crab sandwich made with cheap co-op bread??? Also they put a very cheap margarine spread on the bread????? Normally served a nice lemon mayo we also had a prawn 🦐 sandwich with a Marie Rose sauce and a cheap margarine spread?????I’ve never seen spread n mayo together. They should be served on a freshly baked crusty bread at this price I would not recommend this eatery over priced over rated by people with no TAste 👅 BUDS

Proper Smashed is a new restaurant that opened in April 2023, located on Quay Street. Customers have praised the friendly and hardworking staff, as well as the generous portions of food. The menu features Cornish artisan burgers and dirty fries, with options like loaded spicy chicken, vegan smash, and cheeseburger with chili bean fries. Despite the diner-style ambiance that could use a refresh, visitors enjoyed the comfortable dining experience near Looe's harbor side.
Lovely little burger place near the harbour side of Looe. The lady behind the counter was lovely and brought our food to the table. Spent a little over £20 for the two of us, the portion sizes are very generous! The place itself could do with a bit of a refresh but it's diner style which I found quite comfortable. It was quiet inside so we could eat quite comfortably without feeling overwhelmed and rushed. Can recommend the vegan smash and chicken smash. Chips were a bit too salty for my liking but perfect for my partner. Food is cooked fresh and was given piping hot which is always lovely to have.
Charlotte K — Google review
Good value and very tasty. As an ex-local it’s nice to see something aside from fish and chips. We ordered the clucking and classic burgers with a side of chicken loaded fries. Came to £22, bargain. Would recommend walking to the beach front as the inside dining option is quite small. Only criticism would be option to add sauces prior to wrapping and more of the burger sauce.
Jack A — Google review
This place just isn’t trying, and is not worth a visit. Key issues - no ability to sit down a family of five. Tables fixed to wall and only seat four - mayo and ketchup are charged at 40p. Jesus, just have a container station at front of house. - staff don’t bring food to the table. - tables don’t have knives and forks. Only wooden forks available. - all food served in a closed container Absolutely nuts. Could be a great place but they don’t really give a flying haddock. Not worth it, horrendous experience and won’t repeat. Suggest you try somewhere else.
James H — Google review
I can only really speak for the burger patties as I don't eat bread or chips: these were some of the tastiest I've had. Good quality meet, well seasoned, and slightly crisped on exterior for more flavour. Friendly service in a pretty basic setup – which is fine.
Charles C — Google review
It's decent enough. We enjoyed it, we usually pop to Looe most weeks for a bit of fish and chips but this week fancied a change. The food was nice, full of flavour and good size portions. Price wise is was good value, we fed 2 adults and 2 teenage boys with drinks for £51 and we sat in as it was quiet. Almost the entire menu can be served up Gluten Free.
Clay G — Google review
We visited Proper Smashed today and we all (two adults, two early teens) really enjoyed our food. It was reasonable family and I personally found the portion size of my loaded nachos to be generous. It seemed as though there was a bit of a miscommunication between the order point and the kitchen on a couple of occasions and perhaps this should not have been audible to the customers. The service was the only thing that I think let the restaurant down today, but maybe it was not indicative of a usual day there. Thankyou Proper Smashed!
Matt W — Google review
We went on Wednesday the 15th of may, I believe we were the first customers of the day as it was around midday. Overall the staff were very friendly, hardworking people, and the food was unreal. My partner ordered the loaded spicy chicken (half fries, half nachos) and said it was one of the best meals he has had. The portions were massive and they were very generous with the toppings and how much food was provided and the food tasted unreal. when we come down to Looe, we will defiantly be eating here again!
Jessica P — Google review
I recently visited proper smashed expecting a good meal, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. When ordering, we discovered that most of the menu items were unavailable, but this was only revealed after we had already paid. The lack of transparency was frustrating, and it felt like the staff was more concerned about securing payment than ensuring a satisfactory experience.

Absolutely loved our visit to Sam’s on the Beach! The seafood was incredibly fresh and full of flavour…. easily some of the best we’ve had. We were lucky to get a table by the window, with amazing views overlooking the beach, which made the whole experience even more special. Great food, great atmosphere, and friendly service. We had a late lunch at Sam’s after a walk from Par. It was Mother’s Day and was full inside but we managed to get a table outside. Service was good and quick. We shared a fantastic pizza, squid and chips between 3 of us with Doombar shandy, alcohol free lager and a pint of Coke. £47.75 with tip, so on the pricier side. The pizza was really thin crust and wood fired with generous toppings. Looks fab for a full meal or a quick bite. It was great to sit out front overlooking the beach.

We had two wonderful dinners at Sam’s on the Beach in Par, Cornwall, and everything about the experience was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious, and the restaurant itself had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, special thanks to Alex, who was especially helpful. On our first night, we enjoyed lobster, mussels, and prawn for little one, and on the second night, we treated ourselves to lobster and crab. Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. We also have a lovely disabled child, and the team were incredibly kind and understanding of his needs, which meant so much to us. We would happily come back any time we visit Cornwall again. Highly recommended!

We managed to get a walk-in spot outside on a Saturday lunchtime (it’s October so not summer levels of busy but they still had a steady flow of customers and no tables inside so I would absolutely recommend booking). It was a fairly warm day for October and we were dressed appropriately so we sat outside and it was a great choice for us. The sun made its way round the neighbouring building half way through our food and it’s quite a sun trap. As for the food well we couldn’t fault it, everything was delicious, the flavours clearly thought about. I had the fish stew and my partner had the Thai scallops… we both said we would have those exact dishes again because they were so good! The desserts were also amazing, if you love profiteroles these were probably the best I’ve ever had!!

We didn't have a booking but the lovely staff squeezed us in before the evening reservations. What a fabulous experience for our parent's wedding anniversary. Beautiful location, perfect sun setting through the window and that was before we ate! I love the concept of the place, the great surroundings and the brilliant staff. What is very American is that feeling that you are a special guest, not just another customer. The food was excellent, really excellent. We had a sharing fish tro to start and sardines. All was lovely. Mains were plaice, sardines, sea bass and a lobster surf and turf. Again, all excellent and very much enjoyed. Our lobster fan and resident carribean chef was particularly impressed and very happy. Finished off with a sunset walk on the beach. Perfect. If we lived in this area we would be regulars. If we are back in Cornwall this will be a definite return trip. Thank you.

Once a life boat house this lovely restaurant is in a stunning location. They make full use of the beautiful view with floor to ceiling windows. We had a delightful seafood platter to share with a side of olives. Definitely book beforehand as it is very popular. We hadn’t booked. The waitress was really lovely and let us have a window table which was already reserved but we could have it until then. It was a wonderful dining experience. We had walked here from Penhale campsite. Sam’s is dog friendly restaurant but the beach has a no dog sign.

Jubilee Inn is a traditional pub located in Looe, Cornwall. It offers comfortable rooms, three bars, a restaurant, and a beer garden. The inn is known for its dog-friendly atmosphere and serves a delicious Sunday roast that many customers find exceptional and reasonably priced. The young staff members are welcoming and friendly. Visitors also highly recommend the pub for its delectable rib-eye steaks. Unfortunately, there is no information available about the accommodation or rooms at this establishment.
Called in at last minute for food and was warmly welcomed and told there was a bit of a wait. Not a problem, had a drink and while drinking our orders were taken. The food was lovely. Big portions, hot and delicious. Had the pie and it had big chunks of steak plenty of thick gravy. Would advise booking as it gets busy during the holidays.

Dining/drinking only as we are reasonably local to this pub. We have driven past this pub numerous times since moving to Cornwall but we had never called in until recently. We popped into this pub on the main road in the village of Pelynt on route home from a day out in Looe with visiting friends. We found that the pub has a lovely welcoming atmosphere with a huge beer garden. We decided to have some lunch outside and it was excellent. So good that we booked Sunday lunch for 4 on a date when they had a live band playing in the beer garden. On this later visit, the Sunday lunch was excellent and reasonable value. The local band were also really good and made a lovely afternoon a fantastic experience. This pub is likely to be on our list of Sunday venues in the future. Great beers, great landlord and staff, great food, great location, just a great pub.

Lovely pub, staff amazing and very kind, helpful and personal. The Sunday carvery was Divine, the portions are very generous apparently it’s the chefs missions for customers to not manage to finish it all! The medium here is other places extra large we would certainly go again if nearby!

Nestled on Fore Street, Dotty's (Cafe Fleur) is a charming traditional cafe that offers a delightful array of hot and cold snacks, breakfasts, and delectable cakes. With an impressive selection of vegan and gluten-free options available, it caters to various dietary preferences. The homemade quiches are particularly noteworthy for their flavor and quality. Guests can enjoy hearty meals like jacket potatoes topped with cheese or flavorful soups while savoring the friendly atmosphere created by the welcoming staff.
What a lovely, friendly, well appointed cafe. Dog friendly too. Had a great breakfast bap, sausage on the side for our dog. Would highly recommend. Great coffee too.

Nice cafe Toilet is alright. The seating area is compact and tight. High chairs are available but have little space for them. Menu prices are ok sandwiches are maybe on the little high side but other prices are ok ish. Service was ok. The place stops serving food at 2.30, personally I think this is stupid and they turned away 5 people while we sat there and more as we passed later, it's nice to see somewhere in a position to turn money away. So.if you want food after 2.30pm this isn't the place for you.

We stopped for ice cream but found cake! Dottys was a busy little cafe/restaurant with nice big windows lovely and clean seating inside and out. Cakes and ice cream in the window we stopped and the staff were lovely very accommodating and informative we had a child with intolerance and they took time to ensure we were all happy with choice. Kids had ice cream but I opted for banoffee cake and the slab they put in front of me was indulgence to say the least. The lemon cake looked amazing too I can see me driving back just for that at some point. Parking just opposite, cafe is a little snug for tables but lots of lovely granny’s in there getting about with walking aides so they all manage. I would 100% say get yourself in there. Two young staff they served us you were both very lovely thank you for the hospitality.

The Arch is a popular dining spot known for its amazing food and friendly staff. While some guests experienced delays in getting their drinks and encountered issues with split bills, the overall experience was still described as amazing. Families with children were particularly impressed by the warm welcome and accommodating service, along with the excellent kids' meals. The menu offers flavorful dishes, including highly recommended seafood linguine. Despite some minor hiccups, many visitors have left positive reviews praising the delicious food and welcoming atmosphere at The Arch.
We were a party of 8 including three little ones. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was great and kids meals excellent. Would highly recommend to families wanting a warm welcome, with good honest food at sensible prices. No booking though, so get there early if, like us, you are a bigger party than normal.

I’ve always loved eating here, as we come down quite often, the staff are lovely. The food is amazing, the fish was outstanding, everyone loved the food. We had a little issue waiting for a few drinks, we had to wait an hour to get one drink after asking three times, the communication lacked a little between the staff as we had split bills and one of the members of staff hadn’t been communicated the directions and kept messing up which orders went on what bill. But over all amazing.

We arrived here for dinner without a booking on the off chance that they may be able to fit us in which they did. Food was fantastic, the seafood is great and there's a great choice on the menu. Good portion sizes, we had seafood chowder, fish & chips and seafood linguine. There is a kids menu to accommodate young children. We were so full that we didn't have deserts but again there was lots of choice and they sounded very nice. Staff were really friendly and we were asked several times if we needed more drinks or anything else. We felt very well looked after and had a great experience.

Amazing meal, great service, the food was lovely, couldn’t fault it. We felt safe, staff were disinfecting all the laminated menus after each use, serving us cutlery on a tray so that we could take our own and they crossed less hands. Both steaks were cooked to perfection, chicken was cooked lovely, very succulent and the mushroom bruschetta was also gorgeous. The portion sizes were huge and the food and drinks were great prices, and great quality. Would highly recommend going here if in Looe, and if I’m in Looe again I would definitely go back. All the staff are doing a great job in these hard times.

Seafood restaurant
Captain Mac's Fish House & Seafood Market is a highly recommended destination for seafood enthusiasts. It offers a variety of dishes, including blue crabs, crabcake over scallops, blackened Tile fish, and blackened Red Snapper filet sandwiches. The talented chefs at Captain Mac's are known for their outstanding cooking skills and genuine concern for customer satisfaction. Notably, Adam provides excellent food recommendations. The establishment boasts clean bathrooms and has a charming atmosphere.
Captain Mac's is delicious whether dining in, ordering take out, or buying from the fresh market. One of our favorites is the banging shrimp tacos, which are a little spicy. The sides are also delicious like the cucumber tomato salad or the homemade chips. Prices are reasonable, too. We highly recommend you stop by to grab fresh seafood or a bite to eat. This year r bought crab and made our own crabcakes... so good! There is a small dining room with outside seating where you can watch the wildlife. A small free parking lot is right at the restaurant, but be aware it fills up fast. Also, Captain Mac's, gets very busy around & at meal times. We always plan accordingly. Definitely a stop to add to you beach trip!

Had the soft shell sandwich platter with cucumber/tomato salad and coleslaw. The crab was flavorful and light. The coleslaw was good and the salad tasted fresh. The owner and staff were so friendly and the vibe of the dining was comfortable. The view from the deck was great though because of a storm we ate inside.

Delicious, beyond fresh, and high quality! I think they have some of the best fried oysters around. Came around 4th of July and they were large, plump, mild and slightly sweet/milky in flavor, and very low in whatever you call the contents of the oyster’s stomach. They were frickin delicious and I totally should have got more. The sides were great. Fries were piping hot, as was the corn. I liked that they cooked the corn to order. Absolutely no complaints. Update: Visited again in autumn and had an equally as amazing experience. Oysters were of a different variety this time, but that’s what rocks about local seafood! Tried more menu items like grilled rockfish and their crab soup. Amazing, and super friendly staff!

Every time we come to the ocean I make it a point to go to Captain Mac's. They have the best seafood in town and the prices are far more reasonable than anywhere else. I got the Captain's platter with the crabcake. The crabcake wasn't huge but it was fair for the price with everything else you get in the platter. The blackened mahi mahi is always delicious, the scallops were pretty good. It's hard to tell if they needed more seasoning because I ate them right after the blackened Mahi. They were good though. The shrimp were also delicious. I was actually surprised at how many shrimp came with the dish. It was more than I expected. The kids fish sticks are also mahi mahi. Where else can you get mahi mahi for a kids fish sticks!?

We booked a table here about 5 weeks ago for when we were on holiday, when I spoke to the lady in the restaurant she said they may close at the beginning of September but said she would contact me if they were closing to cancel the table. We are on holiday now and turned up at the restaurant this evening for our table and it was closed. No contact from them to advise they were closed. Poor, very poor.
Gary L — Google review
Dreadful food and poor service. The younger waitress didn't notice we had arrived for our booked table for over 5 minutes. Our drinks order took ages to arrive as did the main course. I'm happy to wait for a freshly made meal but it took 45 minutes to produce a meal a school canteen would be ashamed of. It was like Faulty Towers when the chef got drunk and Basil attempted to cook. The stonebass fillet was very small and overcooked but was the only part of the dish that was edible. The Mediterranean vegetables had no flavour and had been cooked to a pulp. It was like something out of a can from a supermarket basic range. The fish penne special just looked and tasted nasty and my son only managed a few mouthfuls. We attempted to catch the older waitresses attention on numerous occasions but she kept ignoring us preferring to gossip with her colleagues at the till. When we said we weren't happy with the food she was rude at best. We left most of the food (see photograph) and only paid for our drinks and the burger meal that had been eaten apart from the burnt bun lid and strange coleslaw mix. Avoid at all costs even if it's the last restaurant in the world and you haven't eaten for a week. I would like to thank the owner for responding. I'm afraid the manageress has lied to them. We were not met at the door. We stood at the till area for at least 5 minutes and the waitress walked past us several times. We then sat the table with the high chair as we were in the way. She only acknowledged us when I smiled and said hello we are waiting for our 8pm table for three. At no point did I state myself or my 20 year old son were vegetarian. We have been pescatarian throughout his life and that is why we visited a fish restaurant. We eat out regularly at much better quality restaurants than The Plough on the Quay and are both used to the taste and flavours of seafood such as lobster. The food was extremely poor and unappetizing as I described. Overcooked and underseasoned and overpriced. At no point did any member of staff offer to change our meals. The only rudeness when we left was from the manageress who I assumed was the senior waitress. I regularly leave reviews. Please read them and you will see that I I'm not in the habit of writing bad reviews for the sake of it I am telling the truth.

Lovely spot to sit and enjoy the sun and view. I ordered a cream tea, shame it came in a paper cup. Tea never tasted good in a paper cup! I don’t understand why you would get a glass to drink beer or a wine but not a proper cup to drink a cup of tea in this cafe seems a bit strange. Other cafes were providing proper cutlery and cups. I guess each business interprets Covid rules differently. Service was quick and pleasant.
Lorna F — Google review
Really tasty mussels and prawns. Truly appalling service. Our food was plonked in front of us and we both had to go inside to hase for some cutlery and napkins which arrived some time later. When the mussels arrived we asked for bread which usually goes with them only to be told the kitchen was closed so we couldn'thave any. Just the bowl of mussels. After pressing, a tasty warm bread arrived. We were then scowled at for the rest of our visit. We were polite and patient. Surrounding tables were having similar experiences.

YAMAS is a newly opened Greek restaurant with stunning views of west Looe and the estuary. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, and the wine selection is extensive. The atmosphere is described as fine dining, with lovely decor and mostly Greek music playing in the background. Customers have praised the authenticity of dishes like saganaki and Greek sausage, but some found the chicken souvlaki to be dry.

From the moment I walked in Yamas and spoke to Mia, I was impressed! Mia was welcoming, professional and polite, my booking was taken and all of my details in full. I would definitely recruit her for any business I had! Upon arrival, I felt like a Queen 👸!! We were served an array of light bites and they were utterly DELICIOUS, my taste buds were "dancing"... then came the main courses.. garlic prawns and Mussels in the most incredible tomato based sauce with ouzo! It was truly delectable! The talented Chef/owner, Nikos, came out to greet me and kissed me on both cheeks, I was SO excited I nearly kissed him on the lips! 🤣😉 (mind you, he is a very handsome man so anxious easy faux pas to make!😁🤣) The ambience is relaxed, tables clean and simple...and let me tell you about the toilets! 🚻 They are outstandingly clean and furnished with beautifully scented hand-wash and lotion! A special touch! I do tend to judge restaurants by the standard of their toilet! I was not disappointed...😇 Thank YOU to all of the Team at Yamas for the most wonderful meal on my last night of my first visit to Looe. I shall return!

Modern Greek restaurant with excellent food and lovely friendly staff. The restaurant is lovely and clean with amazing views over the river. We had lunch and a drink and it was very enjoyable. The only minor issue is that the toilet facilities are upstairs apart from that it was amazing.

upon first arrival there were two seperate men demanding refunds at the bar so didn’t start off on a good note, once seated the tables around us were all discussing the long waiting times and how multiple of them had received the wrong orders. We ordered the chicken Slouvaki with no sauce (we were gutted to find out they’d removed gyros off the menu- probably to make more money as u now have to pay extra for bread and Tzatziki). Unfortunately we received our order with sauce (apparently a common issue here according to those around us) then when we questioned this the waitress looked agitated and only took one plate away instead of both. We got our new dishes after about ten minutes, which was odd considering our original dishes took almost a good hour, and they looked quite good but one of my skewers appeared to be undercooked (image below) so they must have rushed out our second order. Ended up coming to £72 for a main and a cocktail each (2 ppl) which I think is quite overpriced considering the speed and quality of the dishes, also as our cocktails were a bit frothy and looked rushed. Disappointed as reviews were really good but may have just been a bad night, but considering this was a Wednesday during term time I can’t imagine how they would get on in a summer rush.
Scarlett W — Google review
We came to Yamas for the first time on Wednesday and we were not disappointed. The staff were welcoming on arrival and even gave us a bigger table as we were ordering a few different dishes. The food tasted really fresh and of good quality. The inside decor of Yamas is beautifully done. The food was delicious but we did end up over ordering. We had tzatziki as a starter and this came with pitta bread (it does not say this on the menu) so we ordered rustic bread also but then we had too much bread. I was also a little disappointed that the octopus was no longer on the menu but I had the prawns and they were delicious. For £16 though I felt there could of been five prawns instead of four, but only a small niggle. We are really looking forward to coming back again and trying more of the menu.

We ended up dining here as a last-minute choice and, with no reservation, were asked to sit outside and order at the bar—which was perfectly fine with us. Dining outside by the river was absolutely lovely and added a really nice touch to the experience. The restaurant was clearly very busy and felt a little chaotic at times, but the atmosphere was lively. The food itself was quite nice, though we were disappointed to learn they were out of moussaka, which we had especially been looking forward to. That said, what we did have was enjoyable, and impressively, it arrived much faster than anywhere else we ate in Looe, where long waits seemed to be the norm. The waiting staff were all very young, but they were genuinely lovely—friendly, helpful, and doing their best under pressure. All in all, a pleasant experience for a spontaneous meal, even if things felt a bit hectic.

Visited here yesterday 14th September for the Sunday Carvery after a recommendation, Location is amazing and we were very lucky to be sat at a window seat overlooking the river, The service was excellent and we had high hopes for the meal after hearing and seeing the good reviews. So onto the food, Meat cooked to perfection for me but my husband would have liked the beef a little bit more on the pink side, Turkey was delicious and nice and moist, the vegetables were cooked well with the exception of the Cauliflower cheese as the cauliflower was overcooked and lost in the sauce and the roast potatoes although crispy on the outside were just bland and some were very greasy but the most disappointing thing of the meal was the gravy, it was that thin that it just ended up in a puddle on the bottom of the plate making your dinner look as if there was no gravy on it all all as it just run off everything, after reading more positive reviews maybe this was a bad day for them but sorry we won't be returning

Sundays are especially great days to visit as you can listen to wonderful jazz performances by the local ensemble!
Fantastic hidden gem in Ipswich. Cozy relaxing atmosphere with friendly, chatty bar staff. Excellent and varied range of their beers were on offer and I managed to get through all with their flight boards (3 1/3 pint glasses). The food on the menu looked great but didn't eat here on this occasion. Time passed very quickly in here. A lovely little place. A bonus is you pass through/past the brewery to get to the bar which is upstairs. A beer garden/courtyard area is also available.

Very good pub about twenty minutes walk from Ipswich Railway Station and from the football ground. Four cask beers - and two ciders - on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating, most of it covered, in the courtyard to the rear. Not too busy before the Spurs game at Portman Road. The pub is located on the first floor and sits above the Briarbank Brewery.

Had a great time at Briarbank Brewery during their Summer Beer Festival. They had over 40 varieties of beers on tap, including some unique ones like herbal beers and fruity sours. I tried the Fera Goa Mango Gose — refreshing, tangy and tropical, definitely worth it. What I really liked is that they offer flexible measures (⅓, ½, ⅔ and full pints), so you can taste multiple without overdoing it. Prices are fair, starting from around £2–3. Food was spot on for sharing — nachos loaded with cheese, salsa, guacamole, sour cream and jalapeños, plus a side of sriracha chicken. Perfect pairing with the beers. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and a nice setup for enjoying craft beer in Ipswich. Definitely recommend checking out the festivals here if you’re into trying new brews.

An excellent microbrewery. It was a quiet Tuesday night so not jam packed. The stars were the range of quality beers that kept me from leaving. Recommend the porter and the IPA
Matt S — Google review
Bar staff are absolutely amazing, super lovely and chatty. Would give them 10 stars if I could. However, can’t say the same for the food from the new kitchen. I ordered the steak frites, which I’ve had multiple times in the past; and I understand it is meant to be rare. However, what I had today I would consider to be blue, and on the very blue side of blue. I ate as much of it as I could, as I really hate to complain, but this should be dealt with, as 99% of customers would absolutely make a scene and send it back. I did have a quiet word with the man who served us and he apologised profusely, and was in agreement with my observation. Will absolutely go back for drinks, just not sure about the food.

Certainly! Here's a glowing review you can use: --- I recently had the pleasure of visiting Briarbank Brewing in Ipswich, and it was an experience worth every moment of effort to get there! Though navigating Ipswich’s one-way system and finding parking proved to be quite the challenge for a first-time visitor, Briarbank Brewing made it all worthwhile. Service was impeccable—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, leaving almost nothing to be desired (apart from some veg with the bangers and mash). And as for the beer? Well, it was phenomenal! The variety, flavor, and craftsmanship truly showcase their passion for brewing.

Always worth a visit when in Ipswich. Never disappoints. Easter weekend it had a great beer festival tent attached to the main building. But its a great place to go when there’s no beer festival too!

Been wanting to visit in person after have their beers at some beer festivals and other pubs. Wasn't disappointed with the tap room or the house and guest beer selections! Shared a great range of beers with good friends in a comfy booth. Worth your visit!

Nestled between the charming coastal towns of Looe and Polperro, Talland Bay Hotel is a delightful Cornish country house that embodies elegance and relaxation. Surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens adorned with whimsical sculptures, this stylish hotel offers individually decorated rooms that invite you to unwind in comfort. With its dog-friendly policy, it’s an ideal retreat for those looking to explore the stunning South West Coast Path alongside their furry companions.
What an amazing place! We went for afternoon tea on one of the hottest days of the year. The location provided a gentle sea breeze and being able to sit in the gardens under patio umbrellas, made it very pleasant. The view of the sea added to the ambience. The staff were friendly and helpful, without being overbearing and couldn't do enough for us. When the afternoon teas arrived, everything was explained. We were then left to enjoy the brilliant, tasty platter. Well done to everyone, all round.
Paul R — Google review
The Talland Hotel is sited in an excellent position with views over the sea. Its best asset is its staff, who were both friendly and professional. However, having spent four days at the Hotel, we were disappointed that its did not measure-up to its mainly good reviews and could not be regarded as a luxury hotel (a phase used on-line and in the hotel literature). We were astounded to find that the premises were themed as ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and more akin to a poor attempt at a venue for a child’s birthday party: Wood panelling painted silver, painted black manikin with lampshade head, silver wall panel of a woman’s rear, banisters painted multiple colours, black and white chequered walls, pixies, fairies, model of an elderly man and large mock-ups of painted budgerigars in the garden . Etc. As the interior furnishings were mixed in with conventional decorations, the whole atmosphere was of one confusion and could only be described as tacky. Our room was dated, with distressed furniture, plastic, flowers and palm an off-white duvet, without the relief of a throw, a flimsy piece of net draped over the bedhead tied back with artificial orange leaves. Whilst the bathroom was well appointed, there were no blinds at the two windows. The breakfast buffet was impressive – we did not eat cooked breakfasts. Dinner did not reflect a two red rosette restaurant and despite its high pricing, dishes were underwhelming in presentation and taste. A lamb shoulder dish (£32) consisted of a small stack of overworked vegetables with small pieces of stringy lamb within it. Bland in taste, with not a sign of a fresh vegetable. The roasted sea bass (£39.50) was a small piece of fish with a limp skin, topping a similar stack of vegetables to the lamb dish. The roasted crown prince squash (£19.20) was bland, ill thought out and yet again not accompanied any green vegetable. The whole dish could only be described as ‘beige’. I could go on but will say that the best meal I had was the Sunday roast, which was appetising and served with fresh, vibrant vegetables. (Interestingly, this was the only day that the head chef was off duty). Whilst the hotel has a dog friendly dining area, it was somewhat off-putting to see a guest feeding her dog at her table with hotel cutlery whilst a member of staff looked on smiling – really!! On leaving the hotel, I paid the bill and gave my feed back to the receptionist who was very professional in the way she received them and wrote the points I raised. The General Manager did ring me and discussed my feedback. He was polite and listened to what I had to say but as a lot of effort had been put into theming the hotel, presumably under his watch, I was not convinced that many if any changes would be made. His comment was revealing when he said the theming was to’ invoke childhood memories’. This hotel is a lovely building with one of the best coastal positions going. With a proper classical makeover and updating and a refocusing of the food menu this could become a high-end venue commanding the highest of tariffs. In our opinion at £1880 for a four-night break, on half board terms, it overpromises and under delivers.

Unique and quirky. Really beautiful location. I enjoyed sipping a glass of champagne on the terrace looking out toward the glittering sea. The staff are super nice. It is expensive, but perfect for a special treat. If you walk down the road a little way and across the field you are at the beach. Lovely and peaceful 🌞

Perfect location, very friendly staff that couldn't do enough for you. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute. The walk to Polperro was lovely, there's a cafe just down from the hotel which is great too, the bay itself is wonderful. The food was top quality. Overall very pleased I chose this hotel for our short break.
P S — Google review
Beautifully located and idiosyncratically decorated hotel. Decor was a mix of Alice in Wonderland meets Art Deco! Staff were friendly and helpful. That's the good bits done. The issue was pricing in the bar and restaurant, we were charged £7.50 for a can of lager and £18 for prawn cocktail starter seemed excessive. Other than these two examples, pricing seemed high in general across the business.

This truly is the most curious, wildly beautiful and breathtaking hotel I have ever been to. I was lucky enough to first visit for a wedding last year and it’s amazing to be back whiling away the afternoon with my Mum ❤️ I cannot recommend a visit to this magical place enough. @tallandbayhotel you are magnificent, as are your staff

Can't fault Talland Bay Hotel for food, service and rooms. All the staff know when to be formal and when to be relaxed. Shout out to Jack Ash, Kyra and Jack P as they always make us feel very welcome. Food is well up there with the best I have eaten in any top city fancy chef's restaurant and would recomend to anyone. I am also coeliac now and they installed confidance they know what mesures to take 100% and look forward to next time.

I had a delightful lunch and catch-up with two companions this week at Raffles Bar And Lounge. The crab baguette, accompanied by crisps and a salad garnish, was both delicious and refreshingly generous. The coffee they served was superb as well. I highly recommend this place as it adheres strictly to COVID safety measures, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. It's definitely worth a visit. I heard they have a new chef who has done an exceptional job.
Really nice sitting with a stunning sea view while having a drink and lunch after a nice cliff walk. Staff friendly food good

Went out to lunch on a Monday. Booked the table for 12 noon. We were the second to order in the bistro from what I could tell. Ordered our lunch by 12:15 at the bar. Waitresses took our drinks order at our table but not the food. It then took 50 minutes for the food to arrive. When it did the chicken and bacon on my dad club sandwich was dry. The chips were overcooked and not hot. My mother's (wild mushroom arancini) was bland, dry and lacking flavour and my sons burger was greasy with again chips overcooked and not hot. I fared the best as I had the watermelon tuna salad which was ok. Would definitely not recommend going back for food, but for a coffee, drink and a nice view it nice.

What a perfect lunch at this wonderful restaurant. The service was incredible, Leah and her lovely colleague made service feel seamless yet very attentive. The environment was beautifully decorated…and the atmosphere exceptional - it felt like being in a (very talented) friends home, relaxed and warm. The food was quite exceptional, from the crisp warm up through every course. We ate from the set lunch - pig cheek and cod for me, the sauces were some of the best I’ve experienced. I loved the desert too! We ended lunch with a chat with the eponymous Charle, what a lovely man! He was passionate, friendly and humble, he clearly cares deeply about the food, the experience and the enjoyment of his diners. Together Charlie and Leah make an incredible partnership, with food and service like this they are destined for success.

We had the pleasure of lunch service here. We have been to see Charlie at the Sardine Factory many times so were excited to visit him at his new restaurant, The Gate. The food is absolutely stunning. If you want something special in a beautiful setting this is the place to come. The use of local produce and ingredients is wonderful. The passion for less food waste and sustainability really comes through. Our 13 year old was very well catered for and was very happy. We are already looking forward to coming back next time we are in the area and to see where Charlie and his team take this new venture, sounds like great things are to come :)

I recently had the pleasure of dining here and it was an experience to remember! The location is incredibly scenic, offering lovely views that set the perfect backdrop for a delightful meal. The hand-tied flowers used as table decorations were beautifully done, with the lavender leaving a subtle, pleasant scent on the napkins—a thoughtful and charming touch. The restaurant itself is light and airy, creating a calming ambience that makes you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. The chicken wings were extraordinary—so tender they simply melted in the mouth. As someone who likes to save the best part of a dish until last, I found myself in a delightful dilemma because every bite was just as delicious as the next!A special mention goes to Charlie Walters, the Manager and Chef, who was incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about his craft. He took the time to explain each dish to us, which added a personal touch to the whole experience. If you're looking for a truly memorable dining experience, I can't recommend The Gate enough. Every detail, from the décor to the food, was simply perfect.

An incredible experience. Charlie’s food is faultless and Leah‘s hospitality so warm and attentive. A real dream team! All the courses were exceptional, but Charlie is especially skilled at making unique vegetarian and vegan dishes bursting with flavour. The orange panna cotta was the best desert I have ever eaten - deserts will never be the same again. We will be back!

My Husband and I wanted to try somewhere new for our anniversary. We were not disappointed. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. I asked for the vegan menu and Charlie went out of his way to give me all the options. He worked tirelessly all evening but was still always happy to chat to people and answer questions. I would highly recommend it.

An impromptu lunch led us to Charlie Walters at The Gate. We were rewarded with a delectable selection of beautifully styled small plates crafted from local ingredients. Each dish reflected the passion and care of the host with a hint of global influence to bring a wonderful experience to the Looe and surrounds food scene.

Polperro Seafood and Sandwich Bar, situated on The Coombe in Polperro, Looe PL13 2RT, UK, is a charming eatery known for its locally caught seafood dishes and classic sandwiches. In addition to their delightful menu offerings, the restaurant is praised for its warm service and delectable homemade desserts. Visitors can also enjoy generously filled sandwiches to go along with beautiful scones that make for a perfect cream tea.
Best cream tea in polperro, and also the cheapest we came across. Simple kiosk style and outdoor seating. Scones were a perfect warmth and was less crowded than other places. Felt very local.

I presume this business has changed owners ? Today I paid £6.50 for a cheap soft 6" dry bread roll with a tablespoon of crab inside, would have liked a cup of tea but lady serving said she couldn't be bothered making tea ! Grudgingly she did throw my wrapper away. What a pity, the food and service used to be so nice.
Susan H — Google review
What a wonderful find! We were just wandering and fancied a sandwich on a whim. The couple serving were lovely and made us some very generously filled sandwiches to take away along with some beautiful scones, cream and jam for us to make up our own cream tea later! The scones were better than we've had in much larger places and even better than the bakery near where we were staying. They were even kind enough to give us directions as we were admittedly bit lost! Absolutely worth a visit if you're in this beautiful village!

The bar's cleanliness is maintained at a high standard, while still preserving the historic charm of the building. The food is expertly prepared, presented beautifully, and made to order using fresh ingredients. Overall, this bar comes highly recommended for anyone visiting Looe and looking for a satisfying dining experience.
Warm welcome and helpful friendly staff , nothing was too much trouble to cater to our needs. The place is cleaned to a very high standard and it holds the integrity of the old building. Food was very well presented , freshly made to order and very palatable . I would highly recommend this place and will be visiting again befor we leave.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast! I was struggling to find somewhere that done a Full breakfast early doors in Looe. Not long after 10am I came across the Peaker Blinders Bar, I was welcomed by a friendly and cheerful host called Tom. I ordered 2 large full breakfasts with drinks, the breakfast was one of the best fry ups I've had and was most certainly a large! Compliments to the chef Sue. Definitely recommend popping in if you're ever in Looe!

Wow what a meal. Just been to this restaurant in Looe and the ambience and food was fabulous. Husband had the fish platter which was amazing and I had the Steak and Ale pie. Presentation was lovely and was well worth the money. Apparently only opened 4 weeks ago. Well worth a visit.

Went here after reading great reviews. Sadly lacking. Absolutely no adherence to any covid control. No masks, no gel, no track and trace. The beer was in bottles and the one beer we had hadn't been refrigerated. The steak was lovely. The decor was really nice although the benches where way to narrow leaving you in essence, perched on the edge...

Wandering around Looe, The Garrison welcomed us in for an evening meal. We had the Shepard’s Pie, Steak and Ale Pie and Haddock Goujons which were all delicious; expertly prepared and well portioned with generous and tasty sides. The scallops also looked incredible. Themed beer and kind staff rounded out a fun atmosphere. Thanks to Tony and the team!

Food was okay, found a hair in one of my tapas. My fiance did get her glass for her jug of water and father in-law didn't enjoy his food. Last year was much better. I think different management was better. Really disappointed.
Dan F — Google review
Not really accommodating. Explained over the phone that there would be a child in our booking. I asked if we could have a high chair on our booking. The person on the phone explained that they do not have high chairs. I asked if we could seat the child in the pram at the end if the table instead. This was okayed by the person over the phone. On attending the peaky blinders restaurant we was shown our table but then told we wasn't allowed to have the pram at the end if the table due to the bar been too small and due to health and safety. We then explained what was said over the phone. The response we had from. The guy behind the bar was quite rude. 'you'll have to make do'. 'it is only a small place you know '. After these rude comments were made we swiftly left. We didn't find this place accommodating or welcoming at all. Would not return.

Nestled in the charming town of Looe, Coasters is a delightful Airstream trailer run by Nick and Leanne, offering an impressive selection of hot and cold snacks alongside exceptional coffee and sweet treats. This cozy spot is perfect for unwinding after a nature walk or simply enjoying some fresh air with a warm drink. Visitors rave about the quality ingredients used in their meals, from hearty breakfast baps to delicious burgers, all at reasonable prices.
Great place to get a tasty bap, burger or tea, coffee and cake. I had a stacked breakfast bap made with great fresh, local ingredients for a good price. Coffee was excellent and a sensible price. Staff are friendly and service prompt. Superb! I was too keen to eat my food to bother taking a picture!

We asked Nick and Leanne if they would be willing to serve us and our guests breakfast the day after our wedding in Kilminorth, Looe. Despite telling us they had not done this before, Nick and Leanne really delivered!!! They decorated the van especially for our wedding and served George and I a delicious fried breakfast which was much needed after a late night! Our guests commented on the tasty breakfast baps and drinks too. Nick's communication in the lead up to the event was excellent and on the day they were both super friendly to us and our guests. Everything ran smoothly and the van looked the part! We can't wait to visit them again when we next pop down to Looe. Hannah & George - Plymouth, UK :)
