Nestled in a protected bay, Voidokilia Beach is often hailed as one of the most stunning beaches in Greece. Its pristine crescent-shaped shoreline and crystal-clear waters make it an ideal spot for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts seeking tranquility in a breathtaking natural setting. Families with children can enjoy the calm, shallow waters while older visitors relax on the soft sands.
Voidokilia Beach is really a beautiful place, I think it is my favorite beach from those that I have visited during my two weeks holiday in the Peloponnese area. It is a fine sand beach with crystal clear water, also it has shallow water and it is perfect for kids. Comparing with the other beaches the water felt cooler but it was acceptable on the 11th of September. No beach bars, no sunbeds just a wild beach where you have to bring with you what you will need for a day to relax and enjoy this magnificent place. The parking place is near and the road is narrow in some places but it is accessible with every type of car. There are two restaurants/taverns at 1km distance away from the beach where you can eat. P.S1. For those people who are smoking and are reading this review, please 🥺 take with you the cigarette butts and don't let them in the sand, you are ruining such a beautiful place created by nature. P.S2. If you were able to bring with you on the beach a cup of coffee or something to eat, then you are able to carry it out from the beach and throw it in a trash can, don't let your garbage everywhere.

Exquisite sandy beach with clear waters and interesting geography. The waters are shallow making them ideal for children. There is not much shade at the beach. No amenities like shower.
Oly.ana O — Google review
Beautiful beach with crystal clear water and spectacular views from surrounding hills. Note that there aren’t any beach bars or restaurants but there are several that are only 5-10min away - some of them even deliver directly to the beach. It can get pretty crowded during busy seasons so it’s the best to arrive before 10am to find yourself a good spot.
Katarina M — Google review
Such a unique beach. Visited middle of October on a weekday and had great weather and small crowds. Parked along the road. No entry or parking fees. Some great hikes too.
EveryDayGlory ! — Google review
Bring your own towels, chairs or umbrellas. The beach does not have any sort of commercial activity so there is also no food or water for sale. The water however is extremely warm and clean, amazing swimming location. Also to the left there is a hike to a cave and then past the cave to a castle which leads to a STUNNING view. It is a difficult hike but absolutely worth it!
Panayiote S — Google review
On of the best and most unique beaches of Peloponnese due to its peculiar shape. The coastline is wide enough and the sunset is marvelous.
Vasileios K — Google review
Seems like a beautiful beach but word of caution - BE CAREFUL ABOUT PARKING AFTER RAIN! My car was stuck in the wet mud and could not move out. Had to call for a tow truck. Please be careful when driving after rain and do not go into the muddy area! Unfortunately I didnt get to visit the beach itself, but huge thanks to the wonderful greek locals who were so helpful and concerned for my situation!

Voidokilia Beach is located a bit outside Pylos, along the beautiful Navarino coast. It’s a completely natural beach, once used as an ancient port, sitting just below the Paleokastro fortress and near the famous Thrasymedes Tholos Tomb, a Mycenaean burial site dating back more than 3,000 years. The area is steeped in history, with legends linked to King Nestor and his son Thrasymedes, making the visit even more fascinating. The water is crystal clear, and you can drive right up to the beach, but keep in mind that there are no facilities. This is pure, untouched seaside tourism, so make sure to bring water, umbrellas, and everything you need. The beach forms a perfect semicircle — resembling a cow’s belly, which inspired its name — and because it’s relatively small, it’s best to arrive early as it can get crowded. We arrived later in the afternoon due to a road closure caused by an overturned car, which delayed us a bit. The road leading there is narrow, so take it slow, but it’s absolutely worth it. Many call Voidokilia one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Personally, I found it stunning, maybe not quite at the extreme level of hype, but definitely a unique and memorable place, perfect for breathtaking photos and a special experience.

The Mycenean Palace of Nestor at Pylos is a well-preserved ancient site located in the beautiful Peloponnese region of Greece. It offers a glimpse into the rich history of the area, with its origins dating back 4500 years. Situated on the hill of Epano Englianos overlooking the stunning bay of Navarino in the Ionian Sea, this historic palace is a must-visit for those interested in ancient civilizations.
An interesting archaeological site, with Palace ruins on one side and a tomb on the other. Information is in Greek and English, which provides a good insight into what it was like. Looks like they had a lift to the gantry from the bottom for those that need it. Toilet facilties are present. Incline from the car park.

The Palace of Nestor is one of the best preserved Mycenaean sites in Greece, and visiting it feels like stepping back in time. The site is covered by a modern roof and raised walkways, which make it really easy to view the ruins from above without damaging anything. You can clearly see the layout of the palace .. the throne room, storage areas, and even the ancient bathtub, which is surprisingly intact. There’s a sense of quiet majesty as you walk through, especially knowing this was the legendary home of King Nestor from Iliad. Informative signs in Greek and English help you understand what you’re looking at, and the nearby views over the hills and sea are beautiful. Just a short drive away is the museum at Chora I missed, where many of the palace’s treasures are kept. Next time :). The site is not crowded, which makes the experience feel peaceful and personal. It’s well worth the visit if you’re into ancient history or just want to explore something truly unique in the Western Peloponnese. Don't miss the interactive room right before the ticket office. Also the tomb near to the parking lot. Not sure if the water is suitable for drinking too. Be aware :) --- whispers --- Above the hills where olives sway, the palace sleeps in quiet clay. No roof of gold, no guards remain, just wind and time and stone scarred plain. A throne once stood in echoed hall, where Nestor heard the war god’s call. Now wildflowers bloom near broken walls, and swallows sing where silence falls. A bathtub carved, still smooth and wide, as if the king just stepped outside. The hearth is cold, the feasts are done, yet stories shimmer in the sun. From high above on walkways clear, we trace the past that lingers here... a home, a myth, a faded crown, yet none of it is truly gone. For every stone, each weathered door, still whispers of what came before...

Absolutly a must for people who like history. The palace is very well preserved With a bridge the palace can be seen from above. The visit for fast people takes 10 min. But with some interest 3/4 of an hour. It is not a very big site and no special shoes required.

Must see!!! No other visitors on our October weekday visit. Well preserved (whats left). Great views toward the sea as well can see why location was selected. Free parking and easy to get to.
EveryDayGlory ! — Google review
Great place to learn more about the Pilos ancient times, the palace and tomb excavations, the history of linear B language (which is the oldest in Europe) and the homer stories proven to be history. There is a nice restoration of the place and a nice presentation of the paintings and all the palace sections. Nearby there is also a nicely preserved tomb. Just outside there is a quite big parking place free of charge. I highly recommend this place. Also, at the nearby village hora there is an archeological museum with all the excavation findings but unfortunately, currently is under restoration until 2026.

Extremely valuable and impressive archaeological site—don’t miss the Mycenaean tomb next to the parking area

Fantastically preserved and presented sight of a palace mentioned in Odyssey. You can even see the bathtub in which Telemachus was washed by king Nestor's daughter.

New Castle of Pylos, also known as Palaiokastro, is a significant historical landmark situated in Pylos, Greece. Offering stunning views of Navarino Bay, it attracts numerous visitors annually. The castle features free admission on specific dates and provides access to three museums inside.
The site features an archaeological area rich in history, complemented by three museums that showcase a variety of artifacts and exhibits related to the region's cultural heritage. A large castle site, with the keep offering a good view of the area. Large parts of the castle is lost to the undergrowth. They maintain the keep and the museum. Toilet signs are confusing, but they're in the keep (fort) up the hill. That disabled toilet has seen no use in months, if not years.
Tom ( — Google review
Lovers of fascinating antiquities will definitely enjoy the castle museums, while photography enthusiasts will find numerous photogenic locations and insta-spots. The city's history museum is definitely worth exploring, housing various artifacts of Greek history.
Vardan P — Google review
It is a superb example of 16th-century defensive architecture and features thick walls, bastions, and a hexagonal citadel. Exploring the ramparts and gateways gives you panoramic views over the sea and the town. To fully enjoy the experience, wear sturdy shoes and take your time navigating the steeper or uneven paths. The blend of sea, stone, and historical layers makes Niokastro a truly memorable visit.
Meltem K — Google review
A beautiful site giving spectacular views of the bay from the walls. Therebisca lot to see as the castle covers a large area.pne of the best sites I have visited in greece. It is possible to walk some areas of the walls but health and safety is not paramount in these places so it is neccesary to supervise children and care must be taken as there is no hand rails or barriers in place on steps and the walls. Had a great few hours there and it is well worth a visit. I think that the entrance fee was 10 euros but well worth the cost. There is also a museum on site. The site is slowly being renovated and I would like to visit some time in the future to see the results. But I think that completion is going to be a long way off. Beautiful area well worth the visit. We also did a boat tour of the bay with stops at historical sites and for swimming and snorkeling which was very interesting and informative. 20 euros for 3 hours.

--- 8th October --- Beneath the cliffs where Nestor once did reign, And olive groves drank sun and salt and rain, A bay lay sleeping, wide and deep and still Till cannon roared to break an empire’s will. The mastheads rose like forests on the sea, Three nations met where Greece longed to be free. The wind grew loud with smoke and iron breath, And freedom danced between the jaws of death. No trumpet called, yet hearts like lightning burned. The tide of war had silently turned. Navarino - where tyrants met their fate, And Greece was lifted by the hand of fate. Not just by sword, but will and foreign grace, She carved her name on time’s eternal face. And though the ships are gone, the bay still knows The fire that fell, and the wind that rose.

Worth the visit. Admission gets you access to three museums and the archeological site. The views are breathtaking. There is a lot of climbing and walking.

Katerina's Tavern Restaurant, known as Η Τάβερνα Της Ρίνας, has been delighting diners since 1967 with its warm Greek atmosphere and delectable cuisine. Guests rave about the mouthwatering zucchini balls and spicy cheese dip, alongside fresh seafood options like shrimp Saganaki and grilled chicken. The inviting decor enhances the dining experience, complemented by a lovely evening view.
A wonderful dinner spot - we had this as our last meal while on holiday and went twice during our stay! The seafood is phenomenal and the atmosphere is just a good time.

Katerina’s is the perfect escape from the glitz of the Romanos/Westin resort where we are staying. It delivers authentic local cuisine, warm Greek hospitality at reasonable prices. Every dish we tried was fresh, delicious and full of flavour. Petros was a wonderful host, offering thoughtful recommendations that turned out to be absolute hits! We went without a reservation and arrived 10 minutes after they opened. We were so impressed that we’re heading back tomorrow for our final evening. If you’re staying nearby, I highly recommend making the trip to Katerina’s. It offers a relaxed, local atmosphere that the Romanos simply can’t match. This is where you get to experience true Greek freshness and tradition — miles better than a staged, touristy “Disneyland” vibe!

Definitely one of the best meals in our trip to Greece. Food, service, views - everything amazing here. Their saganaki with honey it’s mind blowing thing, ate it faster than I had chance to take picture🤣 as a seafood lover I highly recommend to try fried shrimp, they are so delicious and fresh

Definitely worth visiting! We had a big grilled wild sea bass, zucchini balls and Greek salad and everything was DELICIOUS! I recommend trying all of those. 😄 Also, they gave us baklava for dessert, and I've had a lot of baklava in my life but this was one of the best I've had. It had a lot of butter 🤤 Everything was great, down to the bread and the olives. And the white wine as well.

Best Taverna in Costa Navarino! Family run business with the best service and food in the region. Fresh fish, fresh meat, fresh salad. Petros always has a recommendation if you cannot decide between the choices on the menue. I recommend Katherinas Greek Salad, Tzatziki, Zucchini Balls and fresh fish from the grill! If you are looking for something special: try the Greek Lobster!!!

Lovely typical greek tavern. We ordered a lot of food, very tasty, especially the greek salad and fried calamari. Superb olives and delicious retsina to drink!

Katerina’s Tavern was the highlight of our trip. The food was absolutely delicious — everything tasted homemade and full of care. The tzatziki and grilled dishes were some of the best we’ve ever had. Katerina and her family were so kind and welcoming, treating us like old friends. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, and the prices are very fair for the quality. We loved it so much we went back two nights in a row. Can’t wait to come back someday. 💙🇬🇷

KOUKOS | WINE RESTAURANT is a delightful gem that captures the essence of traditional Greek dining without focusing solely on seafood. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with warm hospitality and attentive service, where staff take the time to explain menu options. The moussaka and stuffed squid are standout dishes, complemented by an impressive selection of wines from across Greece. The ambiance is inviting, making it a perfect spot for enjoying a meal while watching the sunset over Pylos harbor.
Nice small tavern with wine bar near the harbour of Pylos. Friendly staff, very good meals, a large wine card and an amazing view for the sunset. The prices are a little bit higher than usual in Greece taverns but totally acceptable for this quality and location.

We ate here twice during our 4 day stay in Pylos. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about wine and the food was delicious.

Had to book this as it’s very popular. Best meal I had in Pilos, if you’re only in town one night definitely go here! The staff were lovely and attentive and the food was incredible. Also great view over the bay at sunset.

One of the best cuisines I have ever tried in my life. Cozy atmosphere, perfect service, the chef is a virtuoso of of delicious appetizers.
Yatko R — Google review
The view is absolutely stunning, and everything we ordered was delicious. We had grilled octopus, sea bass, shrimp pasta, and a variety of meze — all were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The only downside was the service: it was a bit slow and inconsistent, with different waiters coming each time. We also asked for extra bread and water, but they never arrived. That said, the overall experience was excellent. At the end, we ordered Greek coffee, and they kindly offered it on the house — a lovely gesture. Considering the quality of food and the view, this is truly a great value-for-money restaurant. If we were in the area again, we would return to Pylos just for Koukos!
Rejna A — Google review
Well our hotel lady said ‘it is the best’ so for our 3 nights in Pylos we went every night. I cannot therefore say it is the best because we just didn’t want to go anywhere else. So friendly , food so fresh and lovely and the service -brilliant. Every night they were booked up , taxi loads of tourists arriving every night, and this was in May. So if you are in Pylos at the height of summer, then book. It is not a tourist restaurant despite what I’ve just said, it is a place you go if you know.
Charlotte A — Google review
Outrageous. After service in which the waiter treated us like sheeps, he assigned himself the tip percentage he considers his due, and not only that, but he didn't inform us. Shameful. I won't be back. Recommended if you want the 360-degree experience of being seen as a wallet.

Located in the charming village of Foinikounta, Elena's restaurant offers a breathtaking vista of the harbor and town. The friendly staff and reasonable prices add to its appeal. The menu boasts a variety of options, including daily specials and vegetarian dishes. Notably, they can accommodate vegan preferences by omitting feta from their Kalamata pasta dish. Elena's is known for its exceptional cuisine, which features fresh ingredients prepared with skillful creativity.
We just had late lunch/ early dinner at Elena. Food is phenomenal!!! Every dish we tried was exceptional, and believe me we tried quite a few 😅 The views are stunning 🤩 Service was completely lacking…maybe it was one off but except taking our order and serving the food there was no one, even for paying we had to stand up to find someone. We would give it another try if we would be around again as the food as delicious 🤤

We had dinner in mid-week. It's location is great and overlooking to the small bay. We had sea bream(small size), red mullet(5 small/medium size), fried calamari, fava(we loved the style of fava), tzatziki and saganaki. Had 20 mls of local ouzo Fish were very good grilled and fried, Mezes were delicious, however calamari was a bit dry and hard. Service was quite good. We paid € 88 for all. Considering prices in Greece, I can say that it's a bit overpriced. However considering it's location and being in a touristic are, it's acceptable. Id recommend this restaurant if you are in the area not only taste the food but enjoy the view and atmosphere.
Erdem G — Google review
We visited Elena Taverna as a family with three young children. The location is beautiful, and the fish was fresh and well-cooked — no complaints about the food or the view. However, we were unpleasantly surprised to be charged a full service fee for our 2-year-old child, who sat in a high chair and shared food from our plates. We’ve traveled extensively through Greece and many other countries, and this is the first time we’ve ever been charged service for a toddler who didn’t even order. Charging €7.50 for 5 slices of bread and applying service fees per person regardless of age — including babies — feels misleading and excessive, especially at a local taverna. What’s worse — we were not informed that a per-person charge was already added. So, unaware of that, we left a €10 tip, meaning we effectively paid €17.50 in service — far too much for a casual local taverna. This experience unfortunately left a bad impression, and we wouldn’t return.

What a nice classy place to have good food! The view of the bay is beautiful and the terrace has a nice look and atmosphere. The staff is friendly and there's always an English speaking person there. Nice place with a nice view. Food was OKAY and spinach salad with dry figs and caramelized cashew nuts delicious. The waitress (tall young lady otherwise very polite) shall pay the same attention to all guests equally. We had to wait quite long with placing our order until she said good bye to the other guests leaving the hotel. Overall, nice place to eat.

Everything was a good experience . The octopus, the fresh fish very good. One thing that I consider a total disgrace and a point the management should consider seriously is to serve table water from Roumania! In Greece we have waters that collect golden awards world wide. What is the message they are passing to visitors and clients ?

I don’t understand why this place has only 4.4 stars!!!! We’ve been travelling around Greece for a month now and this is by far the best place we’ve eaten at. Really good portion sizes, not too big so perfect for getting some starters and main. Very cozy environment and The chefs are a couple and been here for 48 years so I’m told. Lovely vibe, lovely people / staff and in a lovely restaurant. I recommend the stews — that’s their specialty. And smoke salmon and the eggplant is amazing. Very Authentic!!! Words are not enough to describe how good the food is. Ask for cooked food, for egg plant musaka, for "ghemista" made in the flower of the zucchini. The staff is great- friendly, helpful. I am so happy when I discover that we still have a chance to be kind with each other. Wonderful place! Just go for it. Behind the terrace there are stairs taking you directly to the entrance of the castle (closes at 8pm!!!). Everything just perfect.

The first time I visited, I ordered tzatziki and spinach pie, both vere good. Just the glass i was given was dirty. Second time was disaster - swearing at me! 🤬 Nice sunny Saturday afternoon 10/10/2025, in the whole restaurant just one person was sitting before I came, I chose to sit by one table which had 4 chairs (the smallest one) and was told to sit somewhere else, because it could be used for 6 people, that was his response. Again I am pointing that the whole restaurant was empty (maybe 30 or more seats available). After he let me stay, I ordered the same as before and the moment the waiter went away, he mutered "malaka", which in greek is en equivalent to "idiot" used in such situations. I tried to ignore it, but just as he entered the kitchen (which was heard from my seat), he was repeating the swearing to his colleges. Anyway I refused to be treated this way, I left. Never coming back. This is not a behavior towards customers. Very rude, arrogant and vulgar. Don't recommend to anybody.
