Santa Maria de la Saleta is a charming chapel that overlooks Banyuls-sur-Mer and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. The climb to the chapel is steep but quick, with proper markings along the way. There's parking available near the Carrefour store for convenience. While it's not accessible by wheelchair or stroller, visitors can enjoy the beautiful exterior view and meditate in this serene location.
Nice panoramic view. Church not open to the public. Road is at times a little tight if going by car.

Tiny chapel on a small track off a wonderfully twisty hill road. The chapel is pleasant and interesting, but it is the views which makes it so special. Look up towards Madeloc, one of the towers in these hills, south towards the Alberes hills, and down to the coast for terraced vineyards and the town of Banyuls sur Mer. I was there in early May and the wild flowers were fabulous. There are a couple of signposted walks that pass close to the chapel. A lovely tranquil spot.

Good view and perfect for walk.

It's an ancient church on uphill of Banyuls village, used when there is a special ceremony. It's located among vineyards and has fantastic view down to the village/city of Banyuls especially on the nights with the sparkling lights of the Banyuls

Biodiversarium, formerly known as the Banyuls Aquarium, has been expanded to offer an exciting exploration of local marine life in its beautiful aquariums. The Jardin Mediterraneen hanging from the cliffs above the Baillaury valley provides a captivating insight into Mediterranean plant life. Visitors can explore art of marine animals and a museum of marine history on different floors, while also enjoying a cinema and jellyfish culture aquariums.
It's a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours watching the wonderful world of the sea. They take great care of the animals and environment in the aquarium and we really enjoyed the layout and selection.
Mike D — Google review
I recently visited Biodiversarium. Despite there not being a wide variety of fish, the ones I saw were small and adorable. I learned that they release the fish into the wild when they grow too big, which shows their commitment to animal welfare. It was a heartwarming experience knowing the fish are cared for even after they outgrow their tanks. Overall, it was a delightful visit with a unique approach to conservation that left a positive impression on me.

An extremely interesting visit, beautifully presented exhibition.
Gill B — Google review
It was super nice! The staff was great, there's a good amount of sea life to see and is accessible for wheelchair. I recommend 👌
Carla M — Google review
Very positively impressed by this Biodiversarium, that is also a local aquarium and conservation lab and observatory. The visit felt very informative, down to earth and sustainability-oriented, and focused on local biodiversity. I had just visited the Oceaneographic Museum of Monaco the same week, so the comparisons are almost unavoidable: I had more fun in Banyuls, where there’s less people and gadgets, and more attention to preservation and on how the Biodiversarium interacts with local landscapes and economies. Also loved to the see the museum promote an exhibition and conference with SOS Mediterranée about search and rescue of asylum seekers in the Central Mediterranean, at a time when solidarity is under attack.
Mariana G — Google review
A really good visit - informative and enjoyable for big and small people alike. There was a lot to see for a small biodiversarium and it was all local species. We saw some amazing jellyfish, starfish, rays, baby sharks etc. Loads of fish. And they release what they can back into the wild so it didn't feel at all exploitative or sad. For our toddlers it was perfect because a lot of the tanks were at their level too. Highly recommend. We took the 1 euro bus from Collioure to Banyul-sur-mer and it couldn't have been easier!

Super interesting. More than just an aquarium but an important research station. Learnt lots about jellyfish.

French restaurant
La Littorine is a restaurant located in Banyuls-sur-Mer, offering a unique dining experience with its delectable cuisine and exceptional setting. Situated in the cove of Elmes near Collioures, this gastronomic establishment boasts a spacious terrace that provides breathtaking panoramic views of the sea. The menu features gourmet dishes prepared with fresh ingredients, showcasing the rich flavors of Catalan terroir. Guests can also enjoy an impressive selection of wines from the region.
The food was amazing! Special mention to the Pluma de cochon with sweet potato & vanilla purée and the Grand Cru chocolate dessert. The fish dish was good but not as amazing as the pluma. Same for the chestnut pavlova that was delicious but a bit too sweet and overpowering. The staff was the kindest. It was raining heavily and we had decided to walk to the restaurant so we asked the staff for a taxi or a potentiel ride. The lady at the reception gave us a 5min ride to our hotel downtown. Thank you so much for this experience! We will definitely come back and maybe to the hotel as well this time!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
LEILA G — Google review
Went for lunch on a Sunday and everything about the dining experience was flawless. The starters were delicious, the mains well-prepared, and the streusel is an absolute must-try. The staff were friendly, professional and so knowledgeable.
Sonia B — Google review
Spectacular view, great hosts that made you feel welcomed. Cozy ambience. Tasty and flavored food. Two things to improve: wine glass with a small crack (base) and water glass with a strong smell of eggs, impossible to drink on it. The rest was impeccable. We didn’t take the menu of the day, for this reason was a little bit more expensive, but relatively ok for the quality of the services.

Complete picture, the view, the food, the service. We would eat here every menu change if it was not so far from home

Nestled within a hotel (Les Elmes), La Littorine restaurant at Plage del Elmes in Banyuls-sur-Mer offers an extraordinary dining experience on the first floor, boasting a semi-covered terrace with breathtaking views of a picturesque cove along the stunning coastline of Banyuls-sur-Mer. The restaurant's spacious layout features a modern touch, evident from the elegant blue bar at the entrance, complemented by a tasteful incorporation of natural elements. Our culinary journey commenced with a selection of delectable starters meant for sharing. The Anchois de la Cantabria, accompanied by confit peppers cooked au Josper and a luscious organic egg. Additionally, the assortment of artisanal croquetas served with their accompanying sauces proved to be an exquisite treat for our taste buds. Moving on to the main course, the Plats à Partager for two was a feast of flavors that highlighted the best of the local cuisine. The Zarzuela de poissons aux gambas, bisque de homard et amandes, served with black pasta, was a true indulgence, offering a delightful medley of seafood delicacies infused with the rich essence of lobster bisque and almonds. The Parreillade de poissons du jour, a selection of grilled daily catch, was a perfect representation of the region's freshest offerings, tantalizing our senses with its simplicity and authenticity. To accompany meal, we indulged in the Domaine Gardiès, Les Glaciaires vin bio 2022, a wine that perfectly complemented the array of flavors presented on our plates. The young, knowledgeable, and hospitable staff at La Littorine further contributed to the restaurant's warm and welcoming ambiance. Their attentiveness and genuine passion for the local cuisine reflected in the exemplary service they provided throughout our meal, making us feel like cherished guests. Furthermore, the toilets at La Littorine are an absolute must-see for their exceptional design. Often overlooked in many restaurants, here, the attention to detail extends even to the restroom facilities. As you step into the lavatories, you are transported to an artistic sanctuary that perfectly complements the restaurant's modern and natural theme. La Littorine is an absolute must-visit for those who appreciate the authentic flavors of the Cote de Vermeille.

For a Michelin Guide restaurant, we would expect more. Service was in a hurry, like a factory, order, your meal, no recommendations. We ordered some good wine, and a guy came with a different one because our is sold out. We got a 2013 year which should be put in a carafe for breathing, and wine opened after 1.5 hours! Food, above ordinary, delicious, with creativity and delicious sauces. We had terrific fishes/seafood and some also good starter with eggs but average rabbit (with all those bones, I had to eat with hands like a tiger). Desserts - I liked fruits aspic, but instead of sweet fondant, I’d rather have some not so sweet an atypical chocolate something.

Delicious food, lovely and efficient staff and a gorgeous view, we will definitely return. Oh and it was by far the nicest meal we’ve had this trip to Banyuls.

Hotel reservations email is non responsive on important booking issues. Booked a room for 26 July the booking didn’t go through and when we finally got hold of reception by calling the hotel number to rebook for the price they promise for last minute booking the receptionist just refused to rebook. For 25 euros more you lost a whole reference to future guests. Remarking that the price went up and the price is online! Very rude and not accommodating. With so many friendly welcoming hotels to stay at I would not recommend this one to any of my clients in the future.
Amori N — Google review
Don’t read the bad reviews. With +100 hotel visits a year we consider us as experts. The location is fantastic, next to the sea. Room are small but comfortable. Service was very good. Don’t forget to eat in the restaurant!

Staff is excellent and the views amazing plus everything is almost new BUT it looks like a 3* hotel that did the bare minimum to became a 4* hotel. The SPA is not a SPA, just some sauna and jacuzzi that should be free. Anyway a good option for a night, not a long stay.
Luis L — Google review
On the one hand nicely located on the tiny and pretty beach Les Elmes downtown Banyuls, on the other stuck along the village main street (luckly not noisy). Very clean, but a bit small room. Italian shower in the bathroom. The restaurant is good. Fresh fish. Good local wines... of course
Claude — Google review
The bathroom totally flooded when we had a shower. Separately, the entire night the room smelled strongly like sewage so that we barely fell asleep. Otherwise the hotel is pretty new and relatively modern but feels very cramped.

Fast food restaurant
L'Original Banyuls-sur-Mer is a delightful spot for those craving fast food with a local twist. The menu features an array of options, including burgers and pizzas that cater to various tastes. While some dishes like the homemade blue burger may not be particularly memorable, others shine brightly—especially the chicken pizza, which has garnered rave reviews. The atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly staff ready to assist you. It's centrally located, making it convenient for visitors exploring the area.
Perfect. We've done huge group orders there for years. Pretty good selection of either burgers or pizza and reasonable prices. You may want to order in advance if you're in a hurry, especially for dinner.
Romain B — Google review
We ordered salad, pizza and blue burger. Salade was average except mozzarella was not very good. Burger was fresh and home made, however taste did not stand out. Pizza was average. Location quite central and waiters were friendly In general good fast food and value for money. I recommend
Rony T — Google review
Only tried the burgers. Chevre and catalan. Dry bun, that is too big for the beef patty. The mayo is a bit weird in taste and consistency. Aioli was good. Fries good. Prices fair. Slow service even though it was not during lunch rush hour. Probably would not eat here again but I'm a tourist so I only have limited days here. I have not tried the pizzas and this is not a review of those.
Michael L — Google review
This is so disgusting. Saw the Cook cutting his arm hair with his kitchen knife. Left right away and even left my paid burger behind. Can't I give 0 stars??

I am not recommending since the owner changed, the minim respect attitude is missing
Victoria P — Google review
A review of two halves: We had two pizzas, one of which was brilliant (chicken without olives) and would have gained a 5* review, the other was a goats cheese and the base was under cooked, so only a 3* despite the topping being delicious.

(Translated by Google) It's a scam!! Only good ratings on the sites.. We are on vacation in Banyuls and for our first evening we would like to eat meat! The sites tell us that all restaurants are closed. And we meet there! 4.2/5 here, 4.7/5 there!! We arrive.. gloomy parking lot decor, entrance near the trash cans.. No problem!, we give the product a chance.. Inside 2 customers.. The cook leaves his boredom and tells us that we can eat.. We order a rib of beef for 2 - 500 grams short to medium, 2 glasses of red Banyuls.. We receive: 2 glasses with a sample of red Banyuls, yes, a sample, less than 10 cl, I have the photos! No time to be surprised, the half rib arrives, yes, half rib, well cut, in the middle of the bone.... overcooked... And not 500 grms, big! I HAVE THE PICTURES! Mustard please? No Mustard Sir, just aioli!! I take thanks... 64 euros for a missed experience... If the catering bothers them, there is the rental of fins... it's good, it's fun and fashionable.. Don't go there, it frustrates and annoys you!! A l'intérieur 2 clients..
