A very nice museum offering a great collection in a brand new building, just the air-conditioning does not manage the tower and it gets insanely hot the higher you get.

Charming little museum with artifacts from the Neolithic onwards. Good information in English and Turkish. Outside is a garden filled with historic things, where after my visit I rested in the sun and was offered tea by the museum staff.

The Victory Museum, housed in a building that once served as Atatürk's headquarters before the Great Offensive, holds great historical significance. The ongoing restoration work indicates its potential to become an impressive museum. Originally built as the Karahisar Government Mansion and City Hall, this two-storey historical building is a must-visit for those interested in commemorating heroes and understanding its value. Although currently closed for renovations, the location and surroundings hint at a promising experience once it reopens to visitors.
Center point of Afyonkarahisar, adding some photos of the city, you can visit all of this places from the buses you take from here.

(Translated by Google) Located in the heart of Afyonkarahisar, opposite the Victory Monument and Afyonkarahisar Castle, the museum is one of the city's iconic structures. The two-story structure was commissioned by Saitoğlu Mehmet Sait Efendi, before the Republic's founding in 1915-1920. Its most significant feature is its location as the location where Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms planned and gave the attack orders for the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief. The museum not only provides information about the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief but also displays rooms dedicated to the memory of Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Pasha, Western Front Commander İsmet İnönü Pasha, Chief of the General Staff Fevzi Çakmak Pasha, and Western Front Operations Branch Director Tevfik Bıyıkoğlu. The Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk commanded the war from the Atatürk House in Şuhut, now a museum, until August 27, 1922. He arrived at this building on August 27 and stayed there until August 30. Until the 1930s, it served as the Afyon Municipality Building, and upon completion, the Police Department. For a time, the building was planned to be demolished to make way for a city square. However, thanks to the resistance of the people of Afyon, it was saved from demolition. It was transformed into a beautiful museum that also honors Atatürk's memory. It reopened as a museum on August 26, 2024. For this, we must thank Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Hanım.

(Translated by Google) When we think of the War of Independence, the first thing that comes to mind is Afyon, which encompasses the land where the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief took place. The Victory Museum seems a bit inadequate in this regard; a larger and more interactive museum could be built. However, the artifacts displayed in the current museum are quite beautiful, and visiting it alongside the Afyon Museum would make up for the shortcomings.

The Victory Museum in Afyon is located in the historic building where the most important decisions of the War of Independence were made. Used by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as the Commander-in-Chief Headquarters, this structure is truly steeped in history. Both the restored architecture and the building's contents are stunning. The original maps, correspondence, and artifacts on display are impressive. Admission was free, and the staff were very courteous. It's easily accessible from the city center, with plenty of seating and relaxing areas nearby. It's a must-see and ideal for instilling a love of history in children. Fortress
Perched atop a volcanic hill, Afyonkarahisar Castle offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city. This 14th-century fortress has a rich history, having changed hands from the Hittites to the Ottoman Empire. Although only its walls remain today, it remains a significant landmark across from the Grand Mosque in the city center. The climb to reach the castle is steep and challenging, with around 550 to 701 steps depending on different accounts.
Such a great hiking experience, comfortable steps up to the mountain. In the mid of way there is a terrace with a beautiful view at the red roofs of houses and surrounded mountains however worth to go all the way up to get an outstanding 360 view from the top. Wouldn’t advise to climb on a raining day or after rain safety wise as it might be so slippery

Was a fun little hike up the stairs. Great city view. Had a lot of trash around which was sad. But worth it. Suggest going if you are in the area.

This 3500 year+ national treasure is just left by itself… there isn’t even a rubbish bin which left the whole place covered in plastic bottles and trash… If there had been a simple cafeteria the revenue of which would clearly payout the cleaning up and maintaining from point on…Other than that, good for The Town to build comfortable stairs to the castle, however, if you want to climb the very last pitch leading to the very peak you need to climb the ancient stairs which are carved into the rock… wish the modern stairway led to the very peak. Overall this can be a great “fat burning” trip with your family..

Perched high above the city, Afyonkarahisar Castle (Afyonkarahisar Kalesi) is one of the most iconic landmarks in central Turkey. Built on a steep volcanic rock over 1,000 feet above the city, the castle offers an unforgettable combination of history, breathtaking views, and physical challenge. The climb is not for the faint-hearted—there are over 700 steps to reach the top—but every step feels worth it once you see the panoramic landscape spreading endlessly in all directions. The castle has a long and fascinating history, dating back to the Hittites, and later used by the Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks, and Ottomans. Each civilization left its mark, and while only fragments of walls and towers remain, the atmosphere is still powerful and moving. Standing on the summit, you can easily imagine the strategic importance this fortress once held. The name “Afyonkarahisar” itself means “Opium Black Fortress,” a nod to both the city’s historic poppy cultivation and the dramatic black volcanic rock beneath the structure. Visitors often come at sunset, when the golden light transforms the city and mountains into a magical scene. It’s also a deeply symbolic place for the locals, connected to the Zafer (Victory) celebrations of Turkey’s War of Independence. Afyonkarahisar Castle is not just a monument—it’s a journey through time, culture, and resilience.

(Translated by Google) The bridge is beautiful but does not have enough visual pleasure. The reason is not the bridge but the water flowing under it. The water environment is almost non-existent and is covered with garbage. If the water is increased by diverting it if necessary, cleaned of garbage and there are more trees around, I think it will turn into a very beautiful work. It stands there alone, like an ordinary bridge whose value is unknown. (Translated by Google) Vehicles can pass over it It is located on the Akarçay flowing from the north of Çetinkaya Neighborhood and Cirit Kayalığı in the city center. It is on the old road from Afyonkarahisar to Han Köy via Çıkrık-Ambanaz (Beyyazı), and to Gazlıgöl and Eskişehir via Kumartaş (Erenler) - Sipsin (Çayırbağ). It has six arched eyes, two of which are round and four of which are pointed. For this reason, it is called Altıgöz Bridge. It is covered with large cut stones on rubble stone filling, and reused stones were used in places. There is a reused inscription on the south wall of the northwest facade where the breakwaters are located. The old railing stones were most probably made from the theater steps of the ancient Prymnessos City, today known as Süğlün Village. The Greek inscription, which reads “The work of Kometos Theodosiou”, can be said to have existed in the place of today's bridge, unless it was reused from somewhere else. According to the horizontal rectangular inscription on the bridge, the bridge was built by Oğuz's son Sabıküddin Ebül Vefa İlyas Bey before 1209, and was repaired to its current state by his son Ebu Hamid Hacı Mehmed bin İlyas in 606 (1237) upon his will. Although there are eight more very small and complicated lines of writing on the left side of the independent inscription, they are unreadable. The bridge, which is stated in the Sharia court records to belong to the Akkoyunlular, was repaired again in 1072 (1661-62) by a person named Abdülgaffar. Finally, it was repaired and restored by the General Directorate of Highways in 1985. The repair inscription, which fell into the Akarçay and was taken to the museum in 1980, was placed back in its original place. Source: Recorded in the book "Anadolu'nun Kiliti AFYON" on 12.03.2013. They jave perfected this lamb meat dish. And the dessert was fantastic. Think it had buffalo cream on top. Super rich and so good! Wish we could find it other places. Great flavor and the history behind it was fun. Super friendly staff and they spoke some English also. Will be back for sure! A must visit in Turkiye!

Another wonderful experience of Turkish hospitality at this restaurant just when we were about to leave the city. Greeted warmly by the friendly owner who spoke good English and gave us a little background information about their family restaurant. We had to go for a taste of the kebab even though we had a big breakfast and we are glad we made that choice. We all enjoyed the delicious meat but above all we love the hospitality. The owner refused to take our money and offered us drinks and dessert. Even though his customers were flooding into his restaurant at 1pm, he took a moment to say goodbye to us at the door.

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time based on my brother’s recommendation, and today I actually traveled to Afyon just to eat here. After a short wait outside, we were invited in and our order was taken quickly. They serve only one dish: slow-cooked lamb (Et Tandır), accompanied by rice and pieces of bread soaked in the meat broth. It comes with a whole raw onion on the side. We ordered traditional yogurt drink (ayran) in glass bottles. The lamb was tender, flavorful, and delicious. The bread soaked in the broth was fresh and paired perfectly with the meat. The raw onion complemented the dish well. The rice was filling, though flavor-wise, it was pretty average. For dessert, I had the ekmek kadayıfı with kaymak which was excellent. The syrup was well balanced and the cream (kaymak) added a rich, satisfying touch. Despite the place being quite popular, the staff were some of the most polite and respectful I’ve encountered in a restaurant. Unlike many trendy spots with inflated prices, the cost for such a satisfying meal was more than fair. I’ll definitely stop by again if I’m in the area, but I probably wouldn’t make a dedicated trip just to eat here like I did this time.

Hands down, this is the best place to have food in Afyon! It’s a have to try as the food is so delicious. The service is even better as the owner is an amazing person and really kind. Overall, this was an amazing experience. Highly recommended! Came all the way from Hong Kong for this food!

A delicious meal with a unique dessert you won’t find anywhere else. A sole reason to travel to Afyon. More than just food, it’s a cultural experience carried on for generations by a family’s dedication and hard work. Despite its history and popularity, the prices are below average and the portions are quite sufficient. I’ll probably visit every time I come to Turkey.

(Translated by Google) We reached the venue with our own vehicle and did not have any problems with parking. This place, which managed to attract us from its appearance, was very good from the moment the staff opened the door to greet us upon entering, to the farewell phase, and the helpful and friendly attitude of the staff was never missing. We came to Afyon for a holiday, we visited this place for dinner and the food was as good as the attention of the staff. When we went, it was around 8pm on a weekday and the place was deserted. I can say that it is definitely affordable in terms of price and performance. The place looks hygienic, there were no stains on the glasses or forks. It was obvious that everyone, from the kitchen to the reception team, was attentive. If you happen to pass by, I definitely recommend you to stop by this place and try Afyon kebab. I would like to thank the business and its team for the service they provide.

If you're on a culinary adventure in Afyonkarahisar, you simply must visit Lale Pide. This charming eatery is known for its authentic flavors and hearty dishes that truly capture the essence of local cuisine. Indulge in their succulent et döner, which comes in various forms like dürüm, pilav üstü, and the classic İskender—each offering a unique taste experience. (Translated by Google) Tradesmen's restaurant. It's a shabby dining place that has reached a bit of an extreme level. The shop is screaming to get rid of me. Of course, this overhaul should not be reflected as a transfer to customers. We paid 550 lira for Iskender + pita + az kelle paca soup. Served with tea, curd, yoghurt and salad. These parts are amazing. If they just put things in order and increase the importance of hygiene, everyone will be happy. Because the flavors are delicious. (Original) Esnaf lokantasi. Despite our polite request for it to be changed, the waiter picked up his plate and loudly announced the presence of a hair to the other diners, announcing it to everyone. This even disturbed the customer at the table next to us. We didn't expect this behavior from you. Our favorite place has now become a place we'll never return to. (Translated by Google) It's a true tradesman's restaurant. It might be considered a casual place, but it's also suitable for families; it's frequented mostly by Afyon locals. In high school, I used to go there once or twice a week during lunch breaks. Everything I've eaten so far has been delicious, but I generally prefer the keşkek (a type of soup) and the tandır soup. If you're not a local, I definitely recommend trying these two. The keşkek (a type of soup) is a bit more watery and less thick than other Afyon places, but some, like me, prefer it that way. The service is fast, tea is offered, and the prices are reasonable.

Try the Et doner. It is really delicious. Really good quality food. Good for families with kids as there is a playground on the second floor. The service could be a bit slow but generally not a serious issue. No valet parking which is a drag since it is hard to find a parking space in that area. Prices are also moderate.

It serves delicious döner kebab in traditional way. We went there with the advise of trip advisor and liked their meal. One thing though, in Afyon it could be really tricky to find a parking spot.

Iskender was cold and greasy, tea was old and bitter tasting. I dont know how this restaurant got 4.6 stars on average from that many people. Plus overpriced.

As an vegetarian it could be an ironic to comment for a kebap house. We had only veggies but enjoyed very much. It seems they serve very delicious doner kebab.

Numan usta is a must if you are passing through or spending some time in Afyon. One of the best Turkish Doner's I've ever tasted. Cooked with wood fire, served with tandoori bread and some delicious antipasta. Do not forget to try "tandır çorbası"(Tandoor Soup) and Afyon's local dessert "Ekmek Kadayıfı". Let them to put some "manda kaymağı"(Buffalo milk cream) on it.
