Nestled in the picturesque La Clusaz, Restaurant La Scierie is a charming eatery that beautifully marries rustic ambiance with delectable seasonal cuisine inspired by Savoy traditions. Housed in a former family sawmill dating back to the early 20th century, this inviting space features weathered-wood furnishings that enhance its cozy mountain vibe. Perfect for après-ski gatherings, it has been delighting guests for nearly two decades with its commitment to authentic gourmet dishes crafted from local ingredients.
We had a nice dinner here. We started with two cocktails, which were quite original so I'd recommend taking a look into the cocktail menu. As amuse bouche, we had cauliflower mousse, which was tasty. For starter we had pork belly confit to share, which was very tasty, but the portion is more fit for one person than for sharing. For mains we both had the pan fried steak tartare, which also was tasty. Finally, we had cacao tart with tonka bean ice crea, which also was delicious. Nice and attentive service, good and calm atmosphere- overall it was a very pleasant evening.

Incredible food, service and ambience! Everything we tried was out of this world. Highly recommend the Trout, the salads and the Mango sorbet. Even the complimentary starter of the mushroom soup was divine. Nico from the staff provided superlative service. Definitely recommend the restaurant to everyone visiting La Clusaz.

Great experience here! Not enough photos of what we actually ordered since we dug in too fast, it was delicious! The atmosphere is a mix of funky and cozy, I loved the disco ball on the terrace and the interior is very chalet chic. We ordered chèvre chaud salad, cod filet and the cafe gourmand and really appreciated the extensive wine list. Great experience “intersaison” but I imagine during peak season it’s probably packed. Highly recommended!

I’m very happy with their professional service, booked on their website to celebrate my husband’s b-day (was a bit worried of my French) and requested a little surprise to come with. It went very well; we both enjoy the warm celebration, its cuisine & wine; no doubt of the beef quality, the chef indeed mastered the flavor notes of its ingredients, a delightful discover for me.

Our favorite restaurant in La Clusaz. Great plates with real work inside, research and innovation. Products are fresh, quality and well prepared. The bar on the side allows you to extend the evening. A must see.

Located in a charming Savoyard-style chalet, Le Hameau des Alpes offers an immersive experience into the history of reblochon cheese and skiing in the area. The ground floor showcases the story of reblochon, while the upper level delves into the fascinating history of skiing through old film footage. Visitors can explore farm outbuildings with exhibits depicting rural life over the centuries, including an old communal bread oven.
Brilliant museum about reblochon cheese and skiing! The staff spoke some English and explained there was a quiz which gave you a code for a secret room! The skiing exhibition was brilliant. Great videos. We then went to look round the old sawmill.

Ski resort
Massif de Balme in La Clusaz offers a variety of skiing experiences suitable for beginners to experts. The mountain is accessible from the center of La Clusaz and provides perfect pistes with gentle slopes and incredible views. It is part of a larger ski area spread across five massifs, each offering its own distinct vibe. From the gentler tree-lined runs to steeper, longer runs and powder bowls, there's something for everyone.
Good ski area - the last part open late in the season. There is a navette from the main town or possible to connect via the lifts. Excellent long black run down on the right side accessed from the button lift..
Andy P — Google review
Probably the best ski area nearby. But be aware that the normal vagueness of ski run denotation applies. Some blues are nothing more than very flat roads requiring lots of pushing (boarders beware) and red-run-avoiders would be alarmed by some of the nominally blue runs' steepness. 2 x chair lifts are slow and badly in need of updating to increase capacity. But the solo rider lane is a good addition.
Mark W — Google review
The view here is unbelievable. You get to see the whole valley of french alps and to top it all. Mount Blanc

It's a wanted ski area with good organized support. Beautiful apartments and 😋 restaurants.
David S — Google review
For a beginner skiing here is nice! Plenty of blue and green options to start feeling comfortable and become confident!
Nienke — Google review
In short: La Balme (specifically) is a very solid ski area for advanced skiers, with steep red and black slopes and freeride areas (provided there is enough fresh snow). Beginners will be happier on the Clusaz side of the resort. The height of the domain is impressive, leaving you the option to run down 1200m in height at once from the top to the bottom. The view from the top toward the Mont Blanc is worth the Instagram stop. On a busy day you may struggle a bit on the slopes with the crowd, and overconfident skiers going faster than they can handle (there are a lot of those during the February holiday weeks). One thing to note: most of the Balme is in the shadow for most of the day. No issues with visibility per se, but you’ll get more tan at La Clusaz.
Alexandre M — Google review

L'Outa is a restaurant that offers typical Savoyard dishes such as traditional raclettes, veal escalopes, charcuterie platters, and pizzas for kids. Their extensive dessert menu includes a variety of crepes and delicious ice creams to satisfy your sweet tooth. Visitors have praised the homemade food and attentive staff at this beautiful terrace restaurant. The friendly waitresses are accommodating even to those attempting French poorly. The old-themed environment exudes a familiar charm with the aroma of great food.
Love this place. The new owner, Roman has done an amazing job with the menu, the aesthetic and the branding. Beautiful typical Savoyard dishes. Plus a number of others. We had a lovely fondue. All top quality. Absolutely must visit when you are in La Clu!

By far one of the saddest pizzas I've ever seen. I orderer by phone and thought it was located near me at Le Grand-Bornand. Turned out it wad 15 minutes away. So I spent around 30 minutes to get the pizza. Then they tell me the price, which was 17 euros, more expensive than in Paris. After paying, I expected it to have a good amount of topping. Then when I open the box I had one of the worst letdowns in my life. This pizza shouldn't cost more than 10 euros for what it has and the horrible presentation. Not even talking about the generic bare minimum service from the staff. I might as well make it a home for the price and time. This pizza didn't cost me only 17 euros, it was at least 30 with the commute too. I've eaten better pizzas from Domino's. I know you guys are having less clients and I hope you get even less and close. I wish you all the worst.

I had a margherita pizza which was tasty and arrived quite quickly. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but the seating felt a bit cramped – there wasn’t much space between knees and a table. Also, 13€ for a simple margherita seemed a bit pricey.

Visited with family with 2 young kids during half term. Despite being very busy the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Lots of choices on the menu, food was good, family happy. Thumbs up if you want an relaxed meal and don't mind it being 'lively' during peak times.

The staff weren't polite or friendly. We thanked them and they didn't even smile at us. They hand us the plates of food instead of putting them on the table. And the Man who came to take us in, we asked him if we could sit outside, he didn't wven answer. Just moved his head angrily. The food was delicious to be honest.
Newsha N — Google review
The food was great. We took the reblochon and the fondieu. Misses the raclette, but it looked great. My friend ask for the Burger and it was also tasty. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The environment is familiar and old themed with a great food smell. Worth the visit.

Great, traditional mountain food done very well. Restaurant always full, which helps the authentic, rustic atmosphere. Can't decide whether the skidoo ride to get there and back is fun or scary!

I don't write reviews, let alone 1 star review. But what the hell did I just experience today? We sat down on an empty terrace like any other resto on the slopes. The waitress instantly came and asked "Excuse me, did you ask us if you could sit down?" Flabbergasted, we apologize and she annoyingly dressed the table and took order for drinks. After 30! minutes she came again and asks us what we want to eat. We said we didn't anymore because it took so long and wanted the bill. She rudely took everything away from the table and made me go pay inside and told us to leave. Once inside the boss looked at my bill and bluntly told me "Did you only order drinks?" And sighed in my face, giving me an earful about how we were bad customers. When I pointed out his rudeness, he just told me "we do thing differently here and you can leave". Mind you, I paid 15 euros for 2 Cola's and a beer of 250ml. So for 3 drinks that an insane margin. Yet, he scolded me for "only" ordering drinks. The slow and rude service he shrugged off. I made sure I stayed very polite, which made him even more annoyed. Long story short, avoid the place. Look at the other 1 star reviews. It's all the same story. Rude people who seem to dislike tourists.
Jean — Google review
We had a lovely lunch. They spoiled us with good food and a little candle for my husbands birthday. Cozy little chalet.
Erika B — Google review
Interesting 'taxi' service if you visit this restaurant in the evening. As the restaurant is on the slopes then one of the staff needs to collect the diners in a skimobile and sledge. The decor is homely, rustic and of course Alpine. Food is hearty and with an extensive menu and plenty of meat dishes. Service was both efficient and friendly for our visit.

This was another fantastic meal – our third time dining here, and it just keeps getting better. The menu has a great mix: plenty of the classic Savoyard favourites, but also some surprisingly innovative dishes that really stand out. I had an excellent Thai dish bursting with flavour, while my wife enjoyed a beautifully cooked Moroccan lamb that she hasn’t stopped talking about. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely throughout. A special mention must go to the barman, who mixes an outstanding Old Fashioned – one of the best we’ve had anywhere. The atmosphere was lifted even further by a great music selection that made the whole evening feel relaxed and vibrant. We’ll definitely be back again.

Everything was fine until the appetizer arrived, then it went downhill fast. The kid’s meal was served incorrectly (later fixed, and which is fine), but our main dishes never showed up. We waited about 45 minutes overall while other tables were served. We eventually had to leave without eating. To make things worse, when we went to settle the bill, Anthony (who handled billing, a guy with in his 50-60s with grey hair) made no effort to adjust the total, despite the fact that we never received our main meals. We even had to ask for the dessert that was part of the kid’s menu, and we didn’t receive. When I asked if something could be taken off the bill to reflect the situation or at least a sincere apology, Anthony became defensive and aggressive, talking over me, raising his voice, and attempting to justify the delays by citing time and irrelevant excuses. I told him clearly that I didn’t appreciate his attitude, and his response was to shout “Get out!” while aggressively pointing to the door. This behavior was completely unprofessional, confrontational, and outright hostile. I’ve been coming here for years - never again. This wasn’t just bad service. It was hostile, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. Because of this guy, Anthony, this restaurant doesn’t even deserve a 1-star.

Absolutely horrendous experience at lunch. Sit down, right before noon then quickly order. Drinks served with appetiser and luckily kids menu. Done with appetiser at around 12:20. 30min goes by, ask the waiter where our food is. Gives us the typical excuse that they are busy, except tables that arrived 25-30min after us are getting their main course. By 1pm still nothing we decide to leave and are greeted by the rudest barman/manager I’ve ever met. Proceeds to tell us that regardless of the wait we should be thankful for the view and the wait shouldn’t matter. All in a condescending tone. Wife tells him the tone is unnecessary and that a simple apology is needed. Proceeds to escalate the exchange and ends in a shouting match. Zero remorse. Been coming to this place for years with family, never again!
Oliver C — Google review
We’ve eaten here before and enjoyed great food but this time it was very disappointing. The beef salad (same name, but tough beef, poorly presented salad) was the biggest disappointment. The food just lacked the pizzazz we’re used to and, quite frankly, paid for. Maybe a different chef, hopefully a temporary arrangement.
Sally O — Google review
Just a short drive out of La Clusaz, but definitely worth eating there, beats all the restaurants in the town hands down. Beautiful and modern interior design, great service and lovely food with decent portion sizes after a day on the slopes! The raclette seemed very popular, but we actually had the beef and pork dishes which were both outstanding. The pineapple carpaccio desert was a very light and refreshing way to finish off. Definitely a highlight of our ski trip.
