Les Arcs is a renowned ski resort in France, offering a wide range of activities for both winter and summer. It's known for being family-friendly and catering to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The resort boasts convenient access, reliable snow conditions, and various pistes. Visitors can enjoy skiing with stunning views, including Mont Blanc, amidst heavy snowfall. The area also offers excellent dining options and shopping facilities.
This place is wow. Here for the last few days and few more days to go. It has not disappointed in any possible way. Amazing place, amazing skiing and great location. Skies withESF. Bad ass always. Out instructed, Lucas is bad ass first year and has a patient of a saint. He is a great instructor. Wanted to just do free slope and did blue slope. Skied to the highest point and skied all the way down. Bad ass. Will highly recommend this place and the skiing……

Day trip on a rather busy weekday in mid february (carnival holidays). Here a detailed review: -Arrival: I parked at the funicular in Bourg St. Maurice around 8:30am. To my surprise the car park was almost empty and only cost around 3€ a day. Very easy to reach, no long winding difficult road up the mountain. I bought a day ski pass for Les Arcs, which was just 63€ (initially wanted to explore whole Paradiski but since it was so busy I decided against). Skì area: The ski area is gigantic (even without counting the La Plagne connection). With the funicular you first arrive at Mt. Blanc chairlift, which has great runs to warm up. Towards Arpette it began to become more crowded. The area around Arc2000, Varet and Arcabulle were the busiest: the ski rund (especially the easy ones) were packed and the lift lines were long. Varet (25min) and Aiguille Rouge (45min) had the longest lines. The fact that they even had extra queues for skischools and "fast pass" remids me of waiting for a roller coaster. The trip to Aiguille Rouge is worth it: you have a fantastic view and a super long descend, with lots of variety, down to Villaroger. The villaroger area is much calmer. The droset black run is a good challenge (as well as the black runs starting from Varet). The grand col runs are a bit more hidden and fun but still highly frequented. The runs around Arcabulle are very wide and you have lots of space. Totally recommend to have a drink at the igloo bar near arcabulle. There is also a long sledding run that seems fun. The west side ski runs (Vallandry, Arc1800) were not as crowded. The ski runs at Vallandry are nice, You have many fun forest runs. The red combe is fun and more quiet. At Arc1800 you have wide long forest runs with beginner areas and terrain parks. I also liked that there are easy runs connecting every area, so you easy returned to the funicular. Ski lifts: Loved that the area is so easy to reach by funicular. I liked that they had a more modern bubble chairlifts like in Tignes. Some lifts like Varet, Aiguille Rouge or Pre Saint Esprit couldnt handle the masses of people. Verdict: ++ huge ski area ++ easy to reach + variety of runs, lots of easy but also challenging runs + long Aigulle Rouge run + good ski pass price + lots of other activities (zipline, sledding, paragliding) -- crowded runs, lines at the lifts, long traffic jams to get to Bourg St. Maurice on weekends (dont visit during french, british, dutch holidays)

We went a week in a cottage near Les Arcs. Good hiking and mountain biking trails all around the mountain.
Tomi R — Google review
Love its incredible view of the Alps. The resort provides a great variety of slopes and restaurants in general are good (though usually overpriced). Can’t give it five stars because of its ridiculous shuttle between villages. If you missed your last lift back to the side of your village, expect to spend 2 or more hours waiting for/standing in a crowded shuttle bus. Not a good skiing experience at all.
Alex L — Google review
Huge area to ski in, high altitude loads of snow even in april, very child friendly, super selection of restaurants stunning scenery. Been twice and will go again, my favourite place to ski!
Timothy G — Google review
Really love this place it's big. Good for beginners and experienced and kids. You can easily stay in Bourg Saint Maurice and go up by the funiculair. Go to restaurant la ferm in villaroger when skiing. Get a plate du Jour at the sunny terrasse. Best restaurant when skiing. Will definitely be back.
Sabrina S — Google review
We've been a few times, in both winter and summer, and explored all the local towns. 1950 is our favourite place of Les Arcs. Great for skiing and walking. Lots if activities for kids, too.
Eleanor B — Google review
Typically French ski area, but undeniably one of the best hi-altitude resorts in the world. The ski lift system is supported by the French government and is designed and planned amazing well with awesome uphill capacity meaning you hardly ever have to queue for a lift even when the resort is busy. Some of the Arcs are what I would call French brutalistic alpine architecture, they are purpose built going back to the 1970s/80s. Arc 1950 is like a Disney version of an alpine village but cute none the less. The French are generally good humoured and great fun to be around, food is of course excellent at every price point, but don't expect this to be cheap 2000m up a mountain. All in all definitely worth a visit.

Train station
Bourg-Saint-Maurice station is a convenient transportation hub connecting travelers to various European destinations, including a direct train to London during the winter. The station offers different desks for buses, trains, taxis, and skis, catering primarily to tourists. While the staff may not be readily available and language could be a barrier, the station provides essential amenities such as shops and vending machines. Travelers can easily transfer between bus and train services at this functional station.
Perfectly good station with direct access to Les Arcs funicular services. The bus station is right outside too.

Bourg needs to get much better at gritting pavements. It's a death trap after snow

Altibus sucks No bus to valdisere befor 12 oclock Makes no sence for a skiere No public bus between la rosiere and bourg saint maurice Ski places just support rich and suv drivers
Müller M — Google review
This train station is convenient to transfer to Les Arcs ski resort by funicular. The staff here is very helpful. If only it didn't smell like public bathrooms in the whole station.
Pauline F — Google review
I was met in the stark Bit clean waiting lounge the toilets were awful. The different desks for different modes of transport bus trains taxis skis etc are good if your french is ok they don't make much effort. the buses up the mountain to La Rosière were on time but pricey Trains and coaches go to Geneva Central. The staff on platform didn't help with luggage Om the whole a welcoming gare Food shop pricey but to be expected Not many staff around to try to ask
Arpin S — Google review
Very functional station with all the things you would expect from a station that primarily serves tourists. Everything is in French, there are two shops, a tourist office and lots of vending machines. Not a lot of space to move around in. Most people are either waiting to pick someone up or be picked up.

Great little town in the I'sere Valley. Stunning views of the mountains all around.

Sights & Landmarks
Lookouts
Aiguille Rouge is a stunning mountain in the Les Arcs-Peisey-Vallandry area, reaching 3,226 meters. It offers dramatic views and can be accessed by a cable car for skiing and hiking. The mountain features the eponymous black-then-red run, one of Europe's longest at 7km, leading to the village of Villaroger.
Aiguille Rouge Cable Car – Epic views, alpine drama, and a footbridge for the brave Riding the Aiguille Rouge cable car is like being handed a VIP pass to the top of the world—after waiting in a queue that feels like a ski-themed theme park ride. But once you’re crammed into that bright red cabin and lifted to 3,226 meters, all the grumbling fades. Because what’s waiting at the top? Pure, unfiltered Alpine glory. And then there’s La Passerelle—a 35-meter-long metal mesh footbridge that stretches out into the sky like someone said, “Let’s build a catwalk for mountain goats.” You can see straight through the floor, the wind whistles through your jacket, and your knees suddenly remember they have opinions. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but it’s absolutely worth it. From up there, you get panoramic views of Mont Blanc, the Vanoise massif, and your own insignificance in the face of nature. And if you’re feeling bold, you can launch yourself down one of Europe’s longest ski runs—7 kilometers of pure descent to Villaroger. No pressure. Sure, you need to book a time slot, and yes, it gets crowded. But honestly? It’s one of those rare touristy things that actually lives up to the hype.
Steve M — Google review
Stupendous views and great runs -a red and a black. Black particularly good. Great snow quality but the red can get busy just at the top. Picnic tables, viewing platforms, interesting information boards about the National Park, its plants and animals. Two Yuge cameras (link your lift pass to the Yuge app and on scanning the pass you can have your photo taken, which then can be seen and shared from the app). Our firm favourite in Les Arcs and highly recommended.
O R — Google review
Amazing place. On a good day you will have a 360 degrees view of the Alps till your eyes can see. The red slope going down from the top has one or two steep parts but nothing that a half-decent red slope skier cannot handle. Just don't look over the edges on the sides if you are quite scared of heigths.

Just magical. This view you can only find in few places in the world!

Take a cable car ride up to the top to experience the most beautiful view.
A G — Google review
Very high up, impressively high and an amazing engineering accomplishment. Visited in April and it was a chilly 3°C. Skiing down the Glacier du Varet was very pleasant and the snow was good even unlike the slush further down in the valley. Great views, especially on Mont Blanc. Although it was very pleasant up top, there are no toilets at the top, it is frequently closed in winter due to strong winds and there are long queues very often onto the cable car that takes one up. Would recommend, but come prepared for no café or toilet.
Timothy L — Google review
Amazing view, it can take you some time toget to the top with the lift, but it was definitely worth it

Excellent galettes and crepes. This was our favorite place for crepes in Les Arcs. Don’t miss it if you are in Arc 1800. The restaurant was fully booked for the whole week of our visit so reservation is necessary.

A traditional crêpière at the ski resort area at les Arcs. The staff are very kind and friendly. Probably the best restaurant in arc 1800. The owners are very friendly and very funny. The quantities are huge. The crêpes are huge. None of us were able to finish them. They also do a real « fondue savoyarde » from a family recipe. All the ingredients are either home made or bought from small farms. It’s a must go!

Guests praise the chef's passion reflected in the homemade dishes, especially highlighting the delicious desserts and bread. Despite the higher prices, patrons find that the superb quality and flavors justify it. The attentive and friendly service adds to the overall enjoyment of dining here.
What a lovely spot for a really nice meal! Very friendly, delicious food (the lunch menu) - highly recommended 😎 Many thanks 👍

We went out of season last month to this restaurant which we found on google. The reviews were excellent so we wanted to pay a visit. We had an excellent set menu meal of a high standard, also prepared fully gluten free for my wife too. We struggle to find places which will alter dishes to suit a gluten allergy so thought this was very good of them. Two ladies served us which offered excellent service although our French isn’t great, they were happy to communicate in English. The meal was great value and we would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Delicious local food for à good price. The wine is expensive, minimum 35 euros for à 7 euro supermarket bottle
Simon M — Google review
Solid down-to-earth local real-deal! I went for plat do jour menu without the dessert - everything super solid and worked out in terms of balance. I must say I was a little sceptic because of the minimum of information I was given - like a red wine is "Bordeaux", and a starter is "a bread with vegetables, cheese and it's hot". I don't speak French so that was probably the way to describe it in English. I like to be surprised in places I know I can trust - so I was happy that already when wine came I knew it's gonna be legit. Full body with a rich bouquet, notes of blackcurrant & pepper, really engaging and by no means banal. The level of house wine cleared the way for the experience. Starter was a fantastic marriage of blanched zucchini, sauteed pear, pesto, ham and reblochon (I think) cheese on top - all served on thin slice of toasted bread. It had so many levels that it took something like 20 minutes to eat it.. Also because the vinaigrette totally changed the whole game in a beautiful way. Believe me, it tasted waaaay better than it looks. Then, a little "ascetic" main for a change. Here already with the smell you knew - that's it. Freshly made real potato fries, entrecote perfectly medium cooked and pepper sauce that just turned it into another meal. And really well paired with that Bordeaux, there was absolutely nothing to be picky about. Simple and solid. Local real deal. Strong 5 stars. I only regret not taking a desert, but hey that portion was truly satisfying and it felt like the right choice at the time :)

Chalet Grillette is a delightful gem nestled on the slopes of Arcs 1800, perfect for a cozy lunch break while skiing. Guests rave about the delicious offerings, including standout dishes like ravioles, fried camembert, and decadent chocolate desserts. The friendly staff are always ready to assist, making everyone feel at home despite any language barriers.
Fantastic location with a good selection of drinks and food. The tapas was very good and boards were tasty as well. Prices were also not significantly more than other locations in Les Arc. It can get busy around lunch time, so don’t be surprised if the place is fairly busy. Highly recommend.

La Vache Rouge is a charming restaurant located in the heart of Arcs 1950, offering a delightful dining experience for both lunch and dinner. The funky and contemporary interior sets the stage for enjoying a diverse menu that includes local French specialties such as spit-roast meat, seafood, fondue, and a special pizza selection. The staff is dedicated to ensuring top-notch service, making it an excellent option for those with dietary restrictions.
Oh my gosh, this place was incredible!! The food was out of this world, and the waiters made the whole night even better. They were so funny, kind, and genuinely welcoming. I can’t stop thinking about the blueberry pie, it was absolutely heavenly, sweet but perfectly balanced. We left so full and so happy, it honestly felt like the perfect little piece of France. If you’re looking for a special experience, I can’t recommend La Vache Rouge enough. Thank you for such a wonderful evening, we’ll definitely be back!

Amazing atmosphere and venue, great service - almost perfect. But when it comes to food… There’s a major problem in the kitchen. You expect great or at least good considering the standard set with the venue, but its average at best… The tartiflette was good, but the chicken sauce had « big eyes » (lot of fat) and the fries were super soggy… I hate leaving a review like this, and really believe that place has a lot of potential if the food is adjusted… just my humble opinion.
Olivier C — Google review
We have been to this restaurant every time we have skied in Les Arcs over the last 15 years or so, and it’s always been a highlight of our stay. However, this time, it was appalling! We usually manage to have a platter of oysters, Cote de bouef, cooked perfectly, which came with 3 delicious sauces and soufflé potatoes and vegetables, a nice bottle of Cote du Rhone all for around the price of €150. This time it seems that since the new owner took over, 4 years ago, it’s about style over substance. There’s a big performance about how you choose your beef from a selection of 3 on offer. It’s then taken away and cooked for you and returned cut and the bone flaming. We chose a piece of 1.3kg black Angus beef with fat, so that during cooking the fat would render down and moisten the meat. Sadly, the meat was unseasoned, the bone was approx 40% of the weight, the fat another 30% of the weight leaving only approximately 30% for the unseasoned, poorly cooked beef. We love a rare steak which has been seasoned and cooked at a high heat to give flavour and melt the fat, so we ordered a ‘French medium’ which we understood to be a ‘regular’ rare. When the waitress enquired as to how the meat was, we were honest and politely said that there was no flavour to the meat and that there was a LOT of blubbery fat, and that we were disappointed. Her response was to walk away! In my opinion, give this restaurant a miss and go up to The Savoy at 2000, where the meat is perfectly seasoned, sublimely cooked, includes sauces etc, has a fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff and is a lot less expensive! I will say, that the oysters we had at La Vache Rouge as a starter were very nice, even though they didn’t have enough of the cheaper oysters to fulfil our order, so we had to have a mix of expensive ones and the cheaper ones. The final bill came in at €300 for 2 people,, €200 of which was for the meat! This was our only visit this holiday, whereas we usually would visit 2 or 3 times. We were also seated in front of (actually up against!) the fire exit which was drafty and cramped. So very sad that a once incredible restaurant has become so poor.
Sherry T — Google review
Tourist trap! Unfriendly waiter, wobbly tables and sneaky pricing. Steak is listed per 100g (€16.50) but they insist you order 300g, ending up at €50 per person! So instead we ordered the classic menu, which is €26 per person (also overpriced). The steak was overcooked and tiny, even though i asked for medium rare. Surprisingly the fries were good! Desserts are ridiculously overpriced (€11.50 for something you’d get at the local bakery for €3). We waited more than 10 minutes for the bill! Overall, a big disappointment. Also Christmas lights in August make no sense.

We are coming every year. It’s one of the best restaurants in the area food wise, unfortunately, the service not stand up for the food and price level. We booked a table a month ahead, but got the worst table in the restaurant. Every time we needed a waiter we had to wave our hands for a long time, not to mention, nobody came to pour us more wine.

Wonderful service and amazing food. Choose your steak and have it cooked exactly as you like it. Children's chicken dish was also great. C'est magnifique!
