If you're eager to dive into the rich gaucho culture of Argentina, a visit to the Museo Gauchesco Ricardo Güiraldes is an absolute must. Nestled in a serene setting just outside town, this museum is housed in a historic estancia and features several captivating sections. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a charming recreation of a traditional pulperia—akin to the local pub—alongside vintage carriages displayed in the garden.
Loved it. Remote, but wonderful information, timelines, and artifacts from wagons to spurs, mate gourds, those things they threw to bind cattle legs, and many other things in several buildings. The little town nearby has decent helado and a place that makes alfajores and chocolates. I definitely recommend a visit even though it's a way outside BA.

Quiet and nice small museum of the gaucho Ricardo. There're a lot of items about gaucho lifestyle.

Lots of gaucho memorabilia, cost was nominal at 600 pesos. Worth an hour or two.

This museum proudly exhibits horrific and racist paintings by Florencio Molina Campos. Do not go. I was disturbed and left the place crying. Awful.
Karina V — Google review
The building was made to host the museum, as a replica of a house contemporary to the gauchos. It has a lot of gaucho artifacts and a timeline to grasp argentinean history. Worth a visit.

The building was erected to hold the museum. Up. Valuable family collection. Down. Does not respect all architectural feature of 19th century.

Virtual Parkour of the Guiraldes museum. It's free and you will see the origins of the Gauchos there. La pulperia, different kind of horses ornament and tools to guide them, some history, etc. Then you can go and visit the rest of San Antonio de Areco.

Museo Las Lilas De Areco is a must-visit attraction in San Antonio de Areco, featuring a remarkable collection of original artworks by the renowned artist Florencio Molina Campos. Known for his unique caricature-style depiction of rural gaucho life, Campos gained fame since the 1930s and even collaborated with Walt Disney in the 1940s. The museum offers three rooms showcasing Campos' works, along with other paintings by various artists from that era.
Incredible art exhibit that showcases the gaucho history. Beautiful interior and exterior. Should be on everyone’s San Antonio de Areco bucket list. Great show and statues.

This museum shows the art of one of the best Argentina's painter, who painted scenes of local farmers. On the back side there is a narrative scene. Up. Clean, well manteined. Down. A sligly expensive.

(Translated by Google) The general admission price of $8,000 (and $5,000 with an extensive list of discounts: for seniors, students, teachers, minors, etc.) is completely justified. The curatorship is outstanding and educational. Unlike other museums, it makes the tour interesting and enjoyable. I highlight the modern layout and the lighting that enhances each work. The Molina Campos room is a must-see. Logistical tip: The entire tour takes approximately two hours. It has a cafeteria, a convenient place to take a break, a gift shop, and a very clean restroom. El Mitre, Bar Histórico, is situated in a picturesque location facing Plaza Ruiz Arellano and just a few steps away from the San Antonio de Padua church. The building dates back to 1854 and holds historical significance as it was the town's first hotel and the residence of its inaugural mayor. The ambiance exudes classic charm with wooden floors, old-fashioned windows, and a traditional feel.
Great food and service and a nice spot on the main square next to the church. Definitely recommend 👍

5 star for the fries! It is exactly something we crave at night time. 3 star for the smoked salmon orange salad. The smoked salmon is too dry and a bit fishy too, but the vegetables and oranges are quite fresh. It was close to midnight but still a lot of people - quite popular place for the locals.

Restaurant
Almacén de Ramos Generales is a restaurant located in an old house dating back to 1850, which used to be part of the Castex family's estate and sits on the edge of San Antonio de Areco. The owner aimed to create a nostalgic atmosphere with antique furniture, rural tools, and memorabilia from bygone eras. The restaurant offers a warm and rustic ambiance where visitors can savor regional flavors through a diverse menu featuring salads, pastas, and delicious lamb dishes.
We had an amazing lunch here - great wine, a really good selection of dishes and so well cooked. The steaks were incredible. Good value too.

Cheese and salami w four spread (potatoes, eggplant, white beans and fries) is decent and great value. The house salad is also fresh. We got the full size of short ribs and it came with two huge pieces - good for sharing among two of us. Taste is lovely, and the lean and fatty composition is perfect - still wish it was a little tender tho :D nice place and cool people here.

Highly recommend. The food was excellent. The menu is only in Spanish and Google Translate was unable to translate a meat entree called “Entrada”. We asked what it was, the waitress was unable to translate to English, even calling over a young girl in the restaurant, who was also unable to translate. So we said OK, and ordered steak tenderloins. Well, the waitress decided she would show us what Entrada was, and brought us a free order. It turned out to be a skirt steak, and it was a full order. So we had a third steak to go with our two tenderloins and fried potatoes. We also had a tongue appetizer and of course wine. Total cost was probably under $25 US, including tip. Plus, they offered a discount for cash.

The provoleta with raw ham was a little oversalted but very good. The chorizo steak was delicious. Since we shared the plate, they offered to divide the steak and bring it cooked to different degrees according to our preference. The homemade fries were excellent. For dessert, homemade flan and warm apple tart with a scoop of ice cream. Both were very good. We finished with a glass of gin, courtesy of the house. A place I would recommend to anyone visiting Areco. (Translated by Google) You can't stop ordering the fried meat empanadas, very juicy and crunchy. The butterfly steak with fries (one of the chef's suggestions) was incredible. We were greeted by Julia who, with a lot of patience and a smile, managed to keep the entire line in order. I 100% recommend sitting outside, either at the tables facing the street or on the patio at the back of the restaurant. We were also able to enjoy live music. The bathroom was clean and in perfect condition. (Original) No pueden dejar de pedirse las empanadas de carne fritas, muy jugosas y crujientes. (Translated by Google) A great place! The atmosphere is nice and cozy. The only downside is that it's quite small inside, and you're very close to the tables next to you. My favorite is the chorizo steak. I ordered a half portion with salad, and it was really good, but the Milanese a la Riojana (fried breaded steak) got all the plaudits. It's a melt-in-your-mouth treat. The prices are comparable to those of a Buenos Aires dive bar. We went on a Saturday and arrived at 12:10, and we were the last ones there because it filled up quickly (it opens at 12). Attentive. The food comes out super fast, and the service is also very good. I recommend it! (Original) Un gran lugar! Recomiendo!!

To be honest, by reviews i thought its going to be super good But it was absolutely disapointment. Even the food is not expensive, but its not worth it at all. We order pizza, tacos, empanadas and rabas. Rabas was cut sooooo thin that you felt just flavor of eggs, and not even a little bit of calmar. Pizza was not more than all right. And tacos... ah... just as an advance, if something from menu you making bad, just taking it out. The same is about empanada de humita. De carne was all right, but humita .. just take it out of menu if you dont know how to make it tasty. Jarra de limonada was good. But in general, i would never came back and for sure not reccomend this place to any one. Waste of money and 0% of satisfaction.
