Copacabana

Copacabana is a Bolivian town on Lake Titicaca, known for religious festivals and red-roofed houses. It's a base for exploring Isla del Sol and Isla de la Luna, islands with sacred Incan archaeological sites. Near Copacabana's main square, Plaza 2 de Febrero, is the Catedral de la Virgen de la Candelaria, a major pilgrimage site with Moorish domes and the Virgen de la Candelaria sculpture.

Latin American restaurant
La Orilla is a renowned seafood restaurant situated on Avenida 6 de Agosto in Copacabana. Despite being considered expensive by some, it is highly regarded as one of the best dining establishments in the area. Its prime location by the lake ensures that the seafood served here is exceptionally fresh. Visitors have praised the friendly and attentive staff, reasonable prices for quality dishes, and generous portions. The cozy and lovely atmosphere adds to the overall dining experience.
Delicious food and friendly service. The price is also very reasonable.

Nachos were alright. The falafel was quite good but could use some more flavour. Don't bother with the green curry. Big portions.

The foods were delicious. I had quinoa soup and quinoa burger. Very cozy and lovely atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere, great food (especially the steak and stuffed trout).

Had an excellent meal right before catching my 6PM bus. I only had half an hour and Pablo made it work for me. The 25 BOB set meal is a steal!!! Everything was delicious 😋 If I had more time, I would order a second one!!!

Set lunch was so good we came back to have the exact same for dinner. Service was very speedy, staff friendly, prices great ($25BOB set menu, $29BOB for 1L strong beer)

In short: Go elsewhere. We ordered the chicken chow mien and the coconut curry which were both horrible - we ended up leaving half of each. Not worth the price considering the quality (came to 98 BS). The service was okay, but do not listen to previous reviews (most date back 3-4 years), as there are far better places to eat in the area.

Very tasty food and really reasonably priced. We were recommended by our host at the hotel. We were not disppointes. We had the beef burrito which has some amazing sauces and was very filling, also had hummus to start. Very reasonable wine too. Service great and helpful waiter spoke English which helped although menu in English also. Toilets very clean. Would recommend for anyone visiting the area. Have been told to try the trout so maybe next time!

Bistro
Café Bistrôt Copacabana is a charming spot that perfectly blends the essence of Bolivian and Irish hospitality. Nestled along Avenida Costanera, this café is renowned for its delightful coffee and hearty English breakfasts, making it an ideal stop for both locals and travelers alike. After a day exploring Isla del Sol, visitors can enjoy a warm welcome from the owner who often engages in friendly conversation while serving delicious meals like trucha (trout).
Great tacos and coffee. Had lunch hete while we waited for our bus to continue to La Paz Bolivia

Delicious breakfast but you have to bring time and money. We took the full vegetarian breakfast and everything was delicious. From the crispy bread, baked beans, self-made fig jam to the freshly made pineapple juice. The breakfast costs 55 bolivianos which is not cheap but worth it. However, the old lady seems sometimes a little grumpy and it took 40 min to have the first thing (juice and cereals) on our table. I recommend this place but bring your phone or a book to help you pass the waiting time easier.
Timi S — Google review
Had a pleasant lunch after a day trip on Isla del Sol. It was close to closing time, but the owner extended her welcome to dine there. I enjoyed my trucha (trout) lunch and being the only ones in the restaurant, its owner joined us after closing the doors till dinner time. It was a delight to have a full conversation with her as she spoke and understood English very well; and shared knowledgeable information with us in response to our questions. Restaurant decor included many collections from travels around the world completed by herself and her husband; which were very interesting, tastefully displayed, and pleasing to the eye. Restaurant is clean, and spacious, with sun filtering in its glass windows offering views of the lake. I would return to dine here again when and if I am ever in Copacabana.

We just came here for some tea and hot chocolate (vegan) on a cold day. It was perfect !

Excellent breakfast with freshly toasted bread, fresh juice, scrumble eggs, home made orange jam and: VERY NICE COFFEE! Try the the espresso..amazing! Also very cozy atmospere with the colourful tables, lake view and a very friendly owner. If we ever will be in Copacabana again, we will definitely come back. Thank you very much for everything.

Terrible place to eat (AVOID). Most of their dishes weren't available. We waited a long time for undercooked/raw pancakes with gross ice-cream. Sent them back and received the same back after waiting for a long time again. We couldn't eat it but had to pay the whole price (expensive by the way) and the waitress was really unfriendly.
Addict360 — Google review
Seems to have changed ownership. The restaurant serves very good chicken curry , trout lasagne & stuffed trout. It’s specialty is the curry. The staff provides more spicy sauce when we asked for more spice !! Good. Recommend.
GIO T — Google review
Enjoyed our breakfast here. The owner is friendly and the food great; especially the bread, homemade fig marmalade, fresh orange juice and strong coffee - all sometimes hard to find!

Italian restaurant
Sapori D'Italia is a charming and cozy restaurant located in Copacabana, offering a delightful dining experience. The restaurant is known for its delicious pizzas, including options like ham jamon, margarita, and vegetarian. Guests can also savor lovely pasta dishes and gnocchi prepared with love by the friendly Argentine chef and staff. The food is described as fresh and flavorful, making it a standout choice in the area.
Fantastic restaurant. We arrived an hour before opening by accident to see the team making the pasta by hand, and then came back later when they open. Served by a really nice man, apologised unnecessarily for delays, whilst we enjoyed a beautiful bottle of wine and enjoyed the atmosphere. Having the homemade pasta setting beside us was really cool.

I had a wonderful dinner here. There is no menu, however the very friendly staff will tell you what they have available fresh that night. I found the experience to be wonderful and I would absolutely go back! Dinner w wine for 80 BOB. It was an excellent way to spend an evening.
Cameron B — Google review
I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Not only was the food the best we tried in Copacabana, but the staff are incredibly helpful and went above and beyond for us. We ordered the pesto tagliatelle, gnocchi ragu and the salami pizza and all were fabulous. The pasta is made in house and you can see it drying in the restaurant. The atmosphere and food felt as though we were dining in a friends home (a friend who is a great cook!!) We asked if the waitstaff and owner could call us a taxi as it was raining heavily and all called multiple numbers to find us one. When this was unsuccessful, two staff members who were on their way home stopped in the plaza to send a taxi for us. Every aspect of this dining experience was a dream and I would recommend to anybody visiting Copacabana.

Wonderful Italian trattoria on Copacabana. They have handmade pasta and gnocchi and plenty of wine while you wait. Reasonably priced and fun, intimate atmosphere.
Qi Y — Google review
They offer you, what they have on that day, because everything is fresh and selfmade! The gnocchis where so delicious and it was like having a meal from your mom! Very friendly woman making it all by herself.

This hidden gem is the perfect spot for handmade pasta (especially if you are staying at Las Olas Hostal). Between the two of us, we decided to try three pastas. The gnocchi al pesto was our favorite with cream fungi pasta as a close second.
Megan D — Google review
A very nice little restaurant where they cook really high quality homemade pasta dishes. I went while recovering from food poisoning and they were happy to make me a very simple pasta dish with oil that wasn't on the menu. First hot meal I'd been able to eat after days of crackers and it was perfect. My partner also very much enjoyed her Bolognese and Lemon Pie. Worth a stop in Copacabana for sure.
James — Google review
Cute place but disappointing food. Unfortunately, this restaurant didn’t meet our expectations. The space is nicely decorated and the waitress was lovely and friendly, but the pasta was bland, watery and overpriced. With such a small menu, we expected good quality. My boyfriend had the gnocchi with pomodoro sauce, which was just okay. I had the Provençal sauce with tagliatelle, as recommended by the waitress, but it had no flavour at all, it was completely tasteless! And surprisingly, it was the exact same sauce that they served with the bread at the start. I will say the pasta itself was fresh. The thing that needs improving is the sauces - if you’re only going to offer 2/3 sauces, they need to be better than basic and actually have some flavour. I wish I had more positive things to say because the place has potential.

Pan America is a must-visit spot offering a variety of delicious cuisines. From the crispy and delightful pizza to the mouthwatering breakfast at El Condor & The Eagle Cafe, there's something for everyone. Trattoria Sapori DItalia serves up delectable Italian dishes, while Baguette About It offers scrumptious sandwiches. For those craving South American and international flavors, La Cupula is the place to be.
Really good food for affordable prices (you won't get local prices but still it's cheap), big portions, the coffee is actually pretty strong! Nice ambiance and decent music.

The soup was made of powder with some lumps not yet dissolved. The vege lasagnas were average and small. Dessert was very good and served with a little digestif. Good value for money for the menu del dia anyway.
Pauline B — Google review
Worst pizza of my life and especially for that price they charge…such a waste! Did not worth even 20 Bs. The place looks cute but that’s it. The woman who works there also looks miserable, nothing like what I’ve experienced in Bolivia so far. The high reviews are apparently from the time when an American owner ran the place who then rented it out to the current person who now makes it all go downhill.
Evi B — Google review
Good things first: the atmosphere in this restaurant is really comfortable and aesthetic. But the food was not really good, had a veggie burger with fries and ended up getting a simple bread with cold mushrooms from a can, a little bit cheese, some vegetables and avocado. The fries were burned and weren’t seasoned really good. When I wanted to pay the waitress was just gone and I had to wait at least 10 minutes until she came back. But: the juice was good.

How on Earth does this restaurant manage to maintain such glowing reviews? No one there speaks a lick of English. And the card payment situation? A farce! Apparently, card payments are only accepted from Monday to Friday. What kind of absurdity is that? Now, let’s talk about the tacos. We ordered them, blissfully unaware that they came with an unexpected side of cheese. But wait, there’s more! We politely requested a cheese-free version due to our lactose intolerance. What did they do? They slapped the same darn cheese-covered tacos back on our table after 20 minutes. No fresh ones, mind you—just a half-hearted attempt to scrape off the cheese. I’m convinced there were still cheese remnants clinging to those tortillas. And the coffee? Oh, the coffee! It was like sipping liquid regret. Undrinkable doesn’t even begin to describe it. This whole experience was a colossal nightmare. Spare yourself the agony; don’t fall for the seemingly decent ambiance and those misleading ratings.
Rudolf K — Google review
I cannot comprehend how this restaurant has such positive reviews. Nobody speaks English there. Card payment was not allowed, with the excuse that card payments are only accepted from Monday to Friday. What kind of nonsense is that? We ordered tacos, and the menu did not mention that they contained cheese. When our tacos arrived covered in cheese, we explained that we needed a new order without cheese due to our lactose intolerance. After 20 minutes, they brought us the same tacos with the cheese removed. They didn’t make fresh ones, as there were still traces of cheese. The coffee was undrinkable. Overall, it was a complete nightmare. Avoid this place; don’t be fooled by the good ratings and the decent ambiance.

Great place for healthy lunch. Owners are super kind. Handmade and fresh. Plenty of vegetarian options and part of your bill goes to charity event. (ask them for a photo album and stories!)

If you are looking for food made with love and want to support local community, this is the place to go. Owners (Jeff & Deb) are sweethearts and what they are doing to help locals is inspiring! Don’t miss it, if you are in Copacabana 🌞

El Condor & The Eagle Cafe is a must-visit spot in El Alto, La Paz's international airport. It offers excellent breakfast options and specialty pourovers until noon. With a fantastic elevated view of Lake Titicaca, it's the perfect place to spend time between travel connections. The cafe in Copacabana also offers delicious homemade baked beans, fresh juices, and organic hot chocolate.
Amazing restaurant with an even better view! We had dinner here 3 nights in a row because the food was so good and the selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes were also great. We also had lunch/brunch here a couple times and enjoyed everything. The coffee was great (which is important for us) and red beet tortilla was amazing (never had anything like it). The trout was prepared so well too. The service was also very friendly and helpful and the view was spectacular, especially at sunset. You have to come here at least once if you’re visiting Copacabana!

Nice little cafe overlooking the city of Copacabana. The food felt fresh and was quickly delivered. Note there's a small hike up the hill to get to the place but well worth it. I recommend the avocado and egg sandwich
Matei B — Google review
Myself and my wife had the menu of the day and it was brilliant. We had the grilled trout and smoked trout pasta. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The drinks were also delicious, I had the plain kombucha and my wife had the homemade lemonade. We paid 160 bob for 2 people and it filled us up for most of the day. Would definitely recommend.

Nice little cafe with great views of Lake Titicaca! Coffees are bit expensive but worth it for the views and chill vibe. Staff are friendly. Menus available in both Spanish and English. Only thing the location isn’t exactly as it is on maps, but there’s a sign outside.

Until noon, La Cupola cafe becomes home to El Condor and The Eagle, an excellent place for breakfast and decent coffee, including speciality pourovers. Fantastic elevated view of Lake Titicaca indoors or out, and the incredibky helpful hotel reception is happy to help anyone with travel enquiries. If you have an hour or two between a bus and a boat, I'd highly recommend it! Ps actually the town of Copacabana is well worth spending a night.

Real nice restaurant with good food and coffee. Beautiful view at the lake. The owner was super friendly. I had problems with a bus that didn’t show up and they helped me so well to get to Peru. Thank you guys so much again!!!

Beautiful coffee place with an amazing view over lake Titicaca and the city of Copacabana! Just opened some years ago, just take care that it moved from the Google Maps location and it’s now inside the Restaurant La Cúpula, just a block away. Strongly recommend!

Highly recommend the egg and avocado sandwich! Absolutely delicious. Espresso was also good and the staff so lovely. Sad I didn’t have time to go back again.
