Thai restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Chislehurst on High Street, Giggling Squid is a delightful haven for lovers of Thai cuisine, particularly seafood enthusiasts. This charming restaurant captures the essence of traditional Thai dining with its vibrant atmosphere and an array of flavorful dishes designed to be shared among friends and family. With ample seating both indoors and outdoors, it’s perfect for enjoying leisurely lunches or cozy dinners.
Loved Giggling Squid! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and seriously tasty Thai food. The food was packed with flavour. Service was quick and warm. Highly recommend for a relaxed, delicious night out!

We first visited when it first opened many years ago. Since then this restaurant has grown into a very large chain and the quality, authenticity and taste of the food has gone down hill so much, this was our last time giving them a chance to improve. There is a much better, authentic Thai restaurant just up the road and family run. The food was clearly cooked well in advance and simply re heated and flavours or sauces added Our spicy crispy chicken was warm, dry and simply below average. The duck spring rolls were lacking any duck, very greasy and tasteless. Our main curry was warm, pre cooked small stringy chicken pieces and very sweet. No heat what so ever. The only positive was the lovely staff who serviced us at the front of the restaurant

Very pleasant experience during the first ever visit to a Giggling Squid restaurant. Ambience was good with colourful walls in light shades not commonly seen elsewhere. The decorations were also nice. The food quality was pretty good, and the portions were just right. Can't complain about their service as well. There are not many free parking spaces around, but luckily, we managed to find a spot during our visit. All in all, it was a memorable experience at Giggling Squid and will not hesitate to go there again.

Absolutely incredible restaurant, was kindly greeted by the manager who sat us, the menu here is insane, it took me ages to even choose a dish as everything sounded delicious. I was blown away by the flavours in every started/dish I tried, and by the cocktails too. It might honestly be one of the best meals I’ve had. I can’t fault this place at all, maybe it could benefit from a more lively environment, but I guess it’s in a family oriented area. The manager even went as far as offering us a free desert as compensation for a dish arriving late which we had to decline as we were too full, so he then went as far as reducing part of our bill as a good will gesture. I kindly left a tip and noticed him give the tip to the waitress directly which made me feel even happier. Overall amazing restaurant with genuinely good staff and great management. Would definitely visit again and recommend to all.

Visited Giggling Squid - Chistlehurst for the first time today. This restaurant is beautiful and the decor is light and fresh. The food was very nice. We ordered starters of the crispy squid bits, north eastern papaya salad and money bag dumplings which were all very tasty. For mains, we ordered beef massaging curry with coconut rice and prawn pad thai all very delicious. The only criticism is the Thai Ice tea was on the smaller side and ok for taste. The service was nice and friendly. Also, slightly overpriced but food was very good. There is parking in bays right outside but it is charged within certain hours Monday to Saturday. Overall, I would definitely recommend and will be returning.

We went on a Saturday evening for dinner, there is paid parking very close. We got the chicken and lamb curries plus the salt&pepper squid, roti was not fresh, food was good I would recommend. We had to wait 15 mins to be directed to our table even if we had a reservation. 7/10

We booked for a birthday celebration. We had a sharing platter to start which was delicious and plentiful. The main courses were equally delicious and generously sized. The service was excellent and the sticky mango birthday treat was much appreciated.

Cinnamon Culture is a remarkable Indian restaurant that beautifully blends classic and contemporary culinary experiences. With its chic, modern decor, it offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for any dining occasion. Guests can indulge in a variety of exquisite dishes such as Chilli Squid, Soft-shell Kekada, or Tandoori Salmon with dill and mustard marinade. The menu also features enticing options like scallops lababdaar and Punjabi sea bass curry, making it a go-to destination for those seeking fine Indian dining.
Spent a wonderful family afternoon lunch celebrating a birthday and the food was absolutely first class and I am hard to please. Everyone in our party of 11 were complementing the quality of the food including deserts and we were extremely well looked after. I rarely leave reviews but this restaurant deserves recognition for the level of cooking it achieved today. We will be back

The food was absolutely delicious and presentation was incredible not to mention the décor was brilliant! The staff were attentive and helpful oh and the cocktails are amazing 🍸 will definitely be back! I just wish more people knew about this place it should be more busy as I was really impressed perhaps the owners should invest in social media to generate more customers *suggestion* as I'd like to see a queue around the block to get in as I'd definitely line up! The best Indian restaurant I've been to and will be telling all my family and friends to go!

What an amazing experience this was. To start we was welcomed by the waiters with a lovely smile and taken to our table and straight away offered drinks. The menu doesn’t have loads of choice but let me tell you what we did have was taking curry to another level it was incredible We started of with Ackari lamb chops and Iv never tasted lamb like it in my life. The mains was also incredible I had the sesame duck and it was amazing my partner had Chicken Chettinad amazing as well all the nan breads was the best Iv had the onion barji was the same. The flavours in the food was nothing Iv ever experienced The only thing would have been nice if they had nice table clothes on the table it would for me make the experience feel a bit more classy what a shame I will 100% be going back

Such a cozy place! The décor was charming, the lights soft, and the smell of food made us hungry instantly. My grilled salmon was flaky and delicious, served with perfectly roasted vegetables. Highly recommend!

Last night we visit this fine dinning Indian restaurant for the second time. We are pleased to say the menu has improved since our first visit last year. The menu takes classic Indian dishes and adds a fine dining twist that we loved. The setting for dinner was lovely, with a modern clean look. The service was amazing and staff were knowledgeable and pleasant. For us the star of the show was the spicy Madagascar giant prawn with mushroom rice. We will be back.

Delivery service
Nestled in the heart of Chislehurst, Ginger & Spices is a culinary gem that showcases the finest Indian cuisine. Renowned for its commitment to using high-quality, fresh ingredients, this restaurant captures the essence of traditional Indian cooking with a creative twist. Regular visitors rave about their delectable Papri Chat—a delightful starter featuring crispy puries topped with spiced potatoes, chickpeas, sweet yogurt, and tangy tamarind chutney.
I recently visited an Ginger & Spices and had a pleasant experience. The food was amazing and fresh, offering a good range of flavors. Everything was plated with care and presented beautifully. The service was attentive from start to finish. The atmosphere of the place was comfortable, making it a nice spot to enjoy a meal with friends and family. Plus the location was a convenient spot. Overall, it was a very enjoyable visit, and I would consider returning and recommending. It's a solid choice if you're looking for good Indian cuisine.

As a now regular to this restaurant, i would defoliate consider this the best Indian food in chislehurst. The papadams are delicate and crispy; served with a sweet yoghurt mint sauce, a jammy mango chutney and a small diced salad. The samosas are always steaming hot and have a thick layer of crisp pasty met with a explosion of spices and fluffy vegetables. They are always served with a pomegranate reduction sauce. The mixed grill is one is sensational. Perfectly cooked tandoori meats all enveloped with deep marinade and so tender. The soft shell crab was crispy, flavourful and buttery. It’s only downside was it tasted a tiny bit fishy. The lamb jalfrezi is large chunks of juicy lamb with a curry sauce that has immaculate flavour. Garlic chilli prawns are a staple at ginger and spices and in my opinion the beat item on the menu and the best prawns i have ever had. But be were; the are not mild

I recently visited Ginger and spices and had the most wonderful time celebrating my niece’s graduation. Each dishes we got was delicious, with fresh ingredients and great flavours. The prawns dishes I had was honestly out of this world. It was cooked to perfection. And the biryani was phenomenal. The service was attentive and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. The staffs were very professional even when it got busy. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. Overall, everything was good—I’d definitely recommend this place to everyone and look forward to returning!

One of the best Indian restaurant in this area. All the food was really fresh and full of flavours. Every meal portion was good. Lamb chop was a chef kiss! Staffs were super friendly and reliant. They really had attention for every detail. Really enjoyed all my meals and the ambiance in Ginger and spices.

We absolutely love Ginger & Spices - such a good find. The food is incredible, without fault, and it's served in a relaxed setting by friendly staff. Raju is great and we'd 100% recommend to others.

Food might be okay, but what’s the point if you can’t even eat it properly? No cutlery, no tissues – poor service
Dinesh K — Google review
Wow... amazing food. It's simply fantastic.. I can't wait to eat here again. This place was rated 4.5 on Googlemaps when I was searching around.. it should be higher. The food was simply unbelievable.. the best Indian food that I've eaten. Well spiced, appropriately portioned, and the texture of the curry sauces (all three that we had.. yes, I made sure that I tried them all!) was as smooth as silk. Expect a West/Southwest (Goan / Keralan) India themed cuisine.. the food is fragrant and mild, with no particularly fiery hot curry options on the menu., but plenty of vegetarian, fish and vegan dishes in addition to those with meat. The service was quiet, polite and didn't feel rushed (ok, it was a Monday night)... and knew about our booking, literally welcoming us as we walked in the front door. Can't fault this restaurant at all.

Brunch restaurant
Bank House, located in the heart of the town and occupying a former NatWest bank, offers a mix of modern European cuisine and traditional British fare in a relaxed atmosphere. The owners, Stuart and Cecilia Gillies, bring their hospitality and restaurant experience to create a welcoming environment for guests. With an extensive wine list of over 100 bottles, visitors can enjoy small plates or Sunday roasts while savoring their favorite drinks.
I didn’t have food but everyone food looked great. I enjoyed two espresso martinis at the bar and they were amazing, I asked for extra sweet and they did not disappoint. I’ve worked in hospitality all my life and struggle to find places that hits all the spots that I look for. This place definitely delivers on atmosphere and service.

We where all disappointed with yesterdays meal, have always enjoyed the Sunday Roast in The Bank yesterday the Beef was not the same quality the potatoes and vegetables were not great it was all a bit cold The manager said they change the menu due to summer wastage of pork and lamb, some of our party had the mixed roast which was stringy beef and a tiny bit of chicken certainly not the usual standard we have had in the past. I know times are hard for restaurants but they, are also hard for us as customers and when you pay a reasonable amount you expect the standard to be the same. The service was also a bit hit and miss, my husbands first lager was warm, he didn’t complain as we were in company

Went out for dinner with a friend. This was by far, THE best restaurant experience I've had this year! It was perfect from the get go. The service, brilliant! The cocktails, amazing! The food, delicious!!! The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. The service quick. The Maître D, added that little special touch, by saying he was putting us at this romantic, table by the window (really set the mood for the rest of the evening:p), which it was! My favourite was the beef fillet with the truffle mash. It was tender!!! The truffle mash, just as good as mine :p. My friend had the venison, and said it was fantastic! Their house gin was delicious. Definitely on my list for a revisit. I cannot rate the Service enough!!! Great job!!!

Cool restaurant in a vibrant area. Our group had a really lovely evening. The staff had a proper knowledge of the food and were able to suggest menu items we should try. The restaurant has a modern vibe and seemed to be popular with the locals. Overall, good food, reasonably priced wine and great staff.

Fantastic evening for a valentines treat! The staff were very welcoming and very attentive. I had a wonderful gin cocktail which was honey flavoured so tasty. The food is tapas style and full of so much flavour, highly recommend!

One of the best dining experiences in the south east of London. Exceptional quality of food, excellent service and of course a varied and detailed wine list. Will be coming back again and again no doubt! - Update We've been again but had our wedding dinner here after our service, wanted something low key. And as usual food was excellent ordered in advance, team was attentive as always.

March 2023 - great Sunday lunch, personally would have preferred a little more veg but can’t fault quality or service. Three years ago. Just what Chislehurst/ Sidcup needs. A good bar with great choice of tapes - small plates. Barbecue buttermilk chicken, Marmite flat iron and triple cooled chips with chicken skin salt were perfect. Make sure you leave room for dessert - the fruit desert cake served with slices of orange on top definitely better than the slightly heavier chocolate cake. Good value and will certainly be back.

I have eaten here many times and it's always good. The salads are very large, tasty and filling. Wraps are huge! There is a lot of variety to choose from. Great chips. Definitely recommend. The kids menu is great too, not just the usual burger and chips, plenty of options. Makes a change from the chain restaurants in the high street.

It was my first time visiting. I ordered a lovely vegetarian breakfast and a coffee. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was amazing — probably the best flat white I’ve ever had! Made with coconut milk, it was just perfect. Thank you so much to Nene Restaurant and a special thanks to all the staff for the great service. 🙏🌿☕️

This café is truly wonderful! The coffee is delicious and carefully prepared. The staff are warm, friendly, and welcoming — it really feels like home. It’s great to see consistent quality every time I visit. Highly recommended!

Excellent full English breakfast which was piping hot and really nicely cooked, and at five pounds is good value for money, really helpful staff who are attentive but not intrusive. The only thing that lets this place down is its unbearably hot and could do with air con or effective fans. But aside from that the food is excellent the staff friendly and it's well worth a visit.
