Imerovigli

Upscale Imerovigli village sits on a clifftop overlooking Santorini’s caldera islands. The terraces of its sleek bars, fine-dining restaurants, and upscale boutique hotels, some in caves, are popular sunset viewing spots. The Ekklisia Theoskepasti hiking trail leads past the ruined, 13th-century Skaros Venetian Fortress to the summit of landmark Skaros Rock and the blue-domed Theoskepasti Church on the rock’s flank.

Skaros Rock is a centuries-old castle ruin perched on a rugged outcrop, offering breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. This long-lost citadel in Santorini is a romantic and secluded spot to witness the mesmerizing sunset, steeped in the island's rich history and imposing atmosphere. Accessible via a steep track, it provides an ideal vantage point for admiring the glorious sunset.
Great little hike not for those who need assistance. It is a hiking trail that is at the bottom of a very steep set of concrete steps. I would estimate about 100 steps to get to the bottom so you can then transfer to a gravel trail. I loved the hike and the exercise it was excellent and absolutely what I anticipated.. I will just say that it is NOT for the folks who would need assistance.

Lovely place to go for a short hike of roughly 60 minutes. The views from the rock are breathtaking and best to hike it in the morning (especially during hot summer months) when you get plenty of shaded area on the other side of the rock with lots of breeze thay feels quite refreshing. There is a lovely church on the back side and lots of amazing view points.
P S — Google review
I climbed Skaros Rock last year and again this year, right to the base of the summit. Below is the pretty Panagia Theoskepas Chapel. I wanted to reach the top of the rock, but I haven't found the access path yet. However, I regularly see people at the very top. Tourists without climbing gear! How do they manage? I would like to succeed. Despite everything, a beautiful landscape unfolds before us. Simply magnificent...

This is one of the best hiking trails in Santorini. It’s not very long but includes some ups and downs — part of the trail goes through village stairs and part over rugged terrain. The views are stunning, and on the rock itself, you can see the remains of an ancient fortress. A truly recommended hike!
Hila — Google review
A great hike that is definitely not for those in need to assistance. We walked from Santorini Princess so it was all in all good cardio. From actually starting the Skaros Rock trail to the second church in the other side of the point and back it took about 1 hour and another 1/2 hour for taking pictures, but my partner and I were setting a fast pace. BRING/WEAR TENNIS SHOES IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT ARUBD THE ROCK TO THE SECOND CHURCH COMFORTABLY. Lots of stairs and lots of places to go off trail, and even up the rock if you are adventurous. Very beautiful hike!
Gaby O — Google review
Very nice hike to do early in the morning, before the Sun gets too far overhead, we didn't quite make sunrise, but we were only about an hour behind walk through the city down a secret stairway and descend down to skaros rock... I will highly recommend wearing some good. Hiking shoes or very good. Equipped running shoes with extra grip as the terrain is loose gravel and some pretty Steep inclines also some steep declines, so be prepared, have water and take breaks, but if you walk out all the way to the Inn, there is a little blue domed church that you cannot see from the city itself highly recommend taking this walk. Very quiet, very peaceful, exceptionally, beautiful. The only place we took a hike where you feel like you're out in the ocean closest point to the Volcano. Simply magic go now.
LAND R — Google review
Totally worth the hike down. Apparently used to be an epic Medieval castle that’s now ruins. A little sketchy in spots - be careful by the edges of course - but otherwise not that difficult to walk around. Great view inside the caldera and of the volcano. Bring some water for the hike back up 😅

A unique place in Santorini where one can watch the sunset avoiding the many tourists that infest the island. The area is recommended for photographers and for relaxation. It is advisable to visit it in the evening in summer months to avoid the extreme heat.

Bus station
Firostefani Bus Station is located along a picturesque walking route that offers stunning views of the inland plains and the Aegean Sea. The station serves as a convenient starting point for exploring Firostefani and Imerovigli, as well as other nearby towns like Fira and Oia. It's advisable to begin your journey early in the summer to avoid the midday heat, and be sure to carry water with you.
Very small station for the size of the island, buses sometimes are not label with the routes or numbers …you cannot buy tickets in advance is cash only. The lady at counter is not very helpful buses from other towns in the island are not always on time. Be aware the buses look more like tourist coaches with air conditioning. They do speak English.
Ljubica B — Google review
Do yourself a favor and just walk to Fira. Buses didn’t show up. Use the paved main road, it is downhill to Fira and gravity will do the work so it is easy and fast even if you carry heavy luggage.

This is the station from Oia to Fira, NOT from Fira to Oia!
François-Xavier T — Google review
Update summer 2024. Bus doesnt stop here to go to Oia(the main road is closed for cars). You need to go to the main bus station in Fira or take a taxi for 30€
Kamila K — Google review

Robert F — Google review
Do not entrust your holiday travel to this shambolic excuse for a bus station. As I write this now, we're have been sat for an hour and 10 minutes for a service that is supposed to be every 30 minutes. We are expected to wait a further 20, but we know it won't arrive by then either. There's little shelter and zero system or organisation. Yes it's cheap, but what you save in euros you will piss away in sweat and valuable holiday time.
Gina-Maria M — Google review
This bus is not used during the summer., so said two different nearby vendors. I did not see any buses on the this road the first week of may 2023. The bus supervisor at the fira station told me it was a 5minute walk to here. It was 45 minutes, 3km, up hill. With heavy luggage. The bus staff lie to me many times.

Fantastic bus stop! I’d heard so many amazing things about this bus stop from my friends who had visited santorini in the past and I thought to myself “this cannot be missed!”. I booked accomodation close to the bus stop so I could visit it every day and boy was I impressed! The sunset from the bus stop is to die for, and the seats are comfortable enough to sit on for approximately 45-60 minutes. Didn’t actually catch a bus from here, but boy did it look like that was possible! I give 5 stars for the sheer beauty of the bus stop, and 1 star due to the fact that I didn’t catch a bus. Specialty Museums
The Museum of Prehistoric Thera is a small but impressive archaeology museum located in the picturesque capital of Santorini, Thira. Divided into four units, the museum showcases ancient artifacts from different periods of the island's history, including the Late Neolithic to the Late Cycladic period and the mature Late Cycladic period.
Very good. Being indoors was a bonus so you're not in the sun! Found out afterwards that you can buy a ticket which includes the museum in Fira but the cost isn't too much when buying separately. Staff were very friendly. Unfortunately when we visited we were not able to walk between the ruins due to the earthquakes earlier in the year and the possibility of more but still an amazing visit.

Beautiful! The frescoes are awe-inspiring. Good interpretation and lots to enjoy. I really enjoyed my visit to this museum!
Hannah S — Google review
An interesting, small museum — the visit will take less than an hour. The €10 entrance fee is greatly overpriced. There’s a toilet inside, but it’s poorly cleaned and has an unpleasant smell. The air conditioning barely works, making the halls stuffy, especially on the basement level. Nice place, but too expensive.
Anastasiya P — Google review
Great museum! All the artifacts nicely laid out with excellent lighting and descriptions in English. It was very neat to see the ancient artwork! Just be sure to also visit the ancient ruins in Akotiri. It pulls it altogether and completes the journey you will experience!
Lisa K — Google review
A beautifully curated museum that brings ancient Thera to life. The frescoes are stunning, especially the Spring and Blue Monkeys, and the explanations are clear and engaging. It’s not large, but every room is rich in history and well-presented. A must-visit in Santorini for anyone interested in archaeology or Cycladic culture.
Dani B — Google review
Fascinating museum that we went to the day after going to Akrotiri and so so saw the artifacts and wall paintings that were found at that site and referred to in the information boards around the site. Beautiful things, their homes must have been stunning - or at least those of the better off. The museum shows them off really well. Not huge - took us around an hour - but well worth seeing. Puts the site in context.

Very nice exhibition. You can see and try to imagine how life in ancient Greece looked like. Exhibition is not big but worth seeing.

Anogi is a modest eatery in Imerovigli, Santorini that offers a variety of local dishes such as moussaka, seafood, and meat along with a selection of wines. The restaurant provides an unassuming dining experience for visitors to savor authentic flavors. It's located in close proximity to other popular restaurants and attractions in the area.
Delicious food and great Vibes. Recommend to go here just before sunset before it gets busy so you can enjoy the outdoor relaxed seating. Try the meatball appetizer. Place might be full after 9 pm so be sure to reserve for dinners. The Manager had a warm smile and very caring and attentive and if you are lucky enough to meet the server Irene you will have a blast. 10/10 service and atmosphere.

When I entered this place, I was greeted by two women who treated me like I was family. They gave me a great seat, some great Recommendations and I couldn’t believe how nice they were. And then, the food came, and it was awesome! Didn’t break my bank either. Come to this place if you’re in the area, you won’t regret it! Get the lamb

Aussie review. Probably one of the best meals of my life. We had no reservation and were warmly greeted and it was no problem. We had the octopus, Greek salad, chicken souvlaki and the daily special of Moussaka. To top it off when we asked for the bill they said we couldn’t leave yet as they hadn’t given us a piece of delicious Orange Semolina cake to share. Amazing service. Food came out really quickly too. Really worth the price which isn’t too bad compared to other places around.

One of my favorite meals in Greece so far. Great options for pescatarians. We started with the Cretan bread dish (sounds weird but it’s basically a Greek version of a bruschetta on a barely bread) - SO GOOD!!! Then we had the tomato orzo and sea bream and both were extremely flavorful and delicious. The staff was also extremely welcoming and friendly. This is the kind of place you’d want to go back to again!
Deena T — Google review
The owners are so delightful — you can truly feel how much they love being there. They go out of their way to interact with everyone and make you feel completely at home. It’s that warm, personal touch that makes this place extra special. The food? Wow. Highly recommend the meatballs, grilled octopus, and fried calamari — each dish was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. Honestly, everything we tried was amazing, which is why we ended up coming back twice during our stay in Santorini. If you're in the area, don’t miss this gem!
Shayan J — Google review
Looooved this place! The proof that the best restaurant are not always the ones with the view, especially in Santorini. Delicious food, very nice setting, amazing staff (welcoming and very helpful). I highly recommend the octopus and the pasta, I also had the chicken which was very good, except for the rice which was a little bit undercooked, but otherwise, everything was perfect !!!
Sabrina B — Google review
Ordered the chicken skewers, potatoes, and meat balls. The chicken was tasty as it was very saucy but not the best in flavor. Calamari was okay and the meatballs were bland. Overall, not the best food, majority of it was bland. Ambiance is nice since there is outdoor seating. Overall, fun to try but not the best in terms of flavor.

Really nice and observant service from the waiters. They called us in advance to suggest to postpone our table an hour due to the heat - a very good suggestion. The food is served in smaller portions / tapas style, and all courses were well arranged and tasted delicious.

Incredible! One of the most unique restaurants I’ve ever been to. We sat looking out at the caldera and sunset. The food, service, and atmosphere were exceptional and the staff really knew their stuff. If it’s possible, go here. Book in advance and ask for front seating so you can enjoy the sunset! 😍

Fine dining restaurant with excellent food and professional service. The restaurant has an amazing caldera sea view, where you can enjoy the sunset. We tried the degustation menu with wine pairing and we had a wonderful time. Perfect choice for a romantic dinner.

Amazing view, excellent and creative food, great service! A six-star rating for the tomato with basil sorbet starter, the main lobster which was executed at perfection and the peach dessert which was a great way to finish our dinner. Great selection of wine too. It’s a fine dining, so more expensive than a regular restaurant, but worth it!

Exceptional ❤️ 🌅. This is fine dining at its best. We pushed the boat out and had the full 12 course tasting and wine pairing - worth every euro if you can stretch to it. The service is outstanding, we especially appreciated the sommelier who was extremely knowledgeable and smiley. The sunset view is also outstanding. Once in a lifetime experience and can’t imagine there is a better restaurant on the island.

Wonderful experience. The idea of the restaurant is to provide customers not just food but a journey into it. The staff, the vibes, the location, everything is amazing and built in order to offer the best service. We tried the degustation menu of 7 courses (130), if you are a bit hungry choose the 12 course (180). It is pricey but it deserve every euro they ask for.

Blue Note is a charming restaurant located in Imerovigli, known for its rustic and hearty moussaka. The eatery offers delicious meals with great service at a fraction of the cost you would pay elsewhere. Visitors can enjoy incredible dishes like hummus, pita, fried feta, and mussels with mustard. The restaurant also provides breathtaking views and is recommended for those looking to enjoy a delightful dining experience without breaking the bank.
We went here this evening and it was quiet because the season had only just started but just wow the food we had was fantastic and the view was stunning. We knew it would get colder after the sun went down so this venue was good as the windows would be raised once it got chilly. The host was lovely and recommended local dishes. We like to try lots of starters so that is what we did and the tzatziki was the best we’ve ever tried. The fried tomatoes were out of this world and the feta with honey was beautiful. We tried the local white wine which went perfect with these dishes. We will be back not just for the food but bonus view of the sunset too.

The best views of Santorini sunsets. The menu is pricey but so are in all the restaurants with a view. We saw mixed reviews about the food but our group of 17 (10 adults and 7 kids) had a fabulous experience. We had called and reserved over phone but it wasn’t very busy.

One word: Spectacular! Wow I couldn’t be happier to pick this place for our Honeymoon Dinner in Santorini. The Sunset view is to die for. Simply breathtaking. Every single dish in the course was amazing, on top of the music and excellent customer service. This will forever be in my memory as one of the best dining experience. Highly recommended!

My husband and I had the Heritage Tasting celebration dinner with champagne at the Athenian House in late May 2025 for our 30th Anniversary. The view was absolutely gorgeous and we got some great sunset photos taken by our waiter. The food was delicious and presentation fantastic. The service however was lacking at times. It was obvious the staff were busy. We were sitting next to other Americans who talked loudly with their neighbors, while we were trying to enjoy a quiet evening, at an expensive restaurant. However, it is understandable why the tables are close together. The view and food are well worth it!
Kelly G — Google review
Amazing food and service. It’s our first night of our Santorini Honeymoon and we just enjoyed it so much. The staff and service are outstanding and the flavors are on point. You have to try the desserts which are delicious and very extraordinary. The vibes and music during and after sunset were also impeccable. The owner of the restaurant was around and treated us like royalty. Overall full 5 stars.
Farah T — Google review
I recently visited The Athenian House in Santorini, and while the setting was absolutely stunning, the food left much to be desired. The location and atmosphere are beyond compare — perched above the caldera with an unforgettable sunset view, it’s one of the most breathtaking dining spots on the island. The ambiance is elegant and romantic, perfect for a special evening. The service was exceptional — attentive, polite, and professional. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and enjoyed our time. However, the food was disappointing. Despite the beautiful presentation, the flavors were underwhelming and did not live up to the restaurant’s reputation or price point. The portions were small, and for the cost, I expected a far more memorable dining experience. Overall, The Athenian House is worth visiting for the view, atmosphere, and service, but not for the food itself. It’s a place where the scenery outshines the cuisine.
Roshauna L — Google review
We went to multiple “fine dining” restaurants in Santorini and this was the only one that was truly of that standard. The food is very good (entrees are a bit small though). The service by the majority of staff was top notch, except for the manager (a guy, he was very rude and not friendly). I’ve given it 5 stars but it’s more like 4.5 (at best) Book for sunset, otherwise it gets too quiet and cold. It’s a great view, however, their tables positioned bit odd (one person with their back to the view, rather than sitting next to each other) Cocktails are great, recommend to jubilee. For food, recommend anything with shrimp as they were the better dishes. Desserts were not that good.
Alex D — Google review
Our favorite spot from the entire trip! The beef carpaccio and shrimp appetizer were absolutely amazing. The fish of the day was perfectly cooked—so tender and beautifully seasoned. And the seafood pasta? Hands down the BEST seafood pasta I’ve ever had! We ended the meal with the most incredible baklava—flaky, sweet, and unforgettable. What made everything even better was the outstanding service. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming—they truly made the whole experience extra special.
Taylor L — Google review
First night we had dinner at five sense and it’s was phenomenal there so we were excited and had high expectations for this restaurant. Unfortunately it was quite disappointing, the food portions were super tiny and not good and our meal was over 3 hours long- dishes took at least 10-20 mins in between. They’re trying to be a Michelin star restaurant but falling short in every way. Wish we had saved our last meal for the Michelin restaurant next door. Their star or main dish that their known for which is lamb moussaka, the lamb was very dry! Also I didn’t take a picture of the calamari but the size was about my thumbnail - my husband will still hungry after his 8 course tasting which was $180 euros. Overall we would not come back. The view is nice but that’s all they have going for it.

One of the best traditional Greek restaurant in Imerovigli, Santorini. We liked the food and went there again and we almost tried everything from the menu. Delicious food and friendly staff. We visited Avocado during our last night on Santorini and wished we had gone sooner! We sat on the patio and watched the sunset. After the sun went down the wait staff offered tables a blanket. Our waiter suggested a Greek Merlot and was delicious--as was the spinach pie and veil moussaka!
Danielle M — Google review
A local recommended this to us, but it left us wanting more. I ordered the grilled octopus, which I found very good. Fresh and meaty. Wife ordered shrimp pasta, need more flavour. Shrimps were good, but pasta missing something. Bruschetta sounded very appetizing, but not as flavourful either as we would have hopped. Very dull atmosphere, quite inside and not much going on. The octopus saved this review.
Jason C — Google review
Great restaurant, good service, good food, just overpriced for the area. I guess you are paying for the view over the caldera, but that view is everywhere on the side of Santorini. Other than the value this place had weird LoFi music playing that seemed to be playing everywhere in Greece. I had a really delicious salad.
Nathaniel — Google review
Food is quite bland and lacked flavour. We ordered the grilled octopus, ballotine chicken slow cooked (6 hrs), and bruschetta. Portions were very small as well compared to other restaurants we dined at for similar price. Extremely overpriced (i.e., it was $21 euros for one octopus leg, portion is more like an appetitzer). The view would be nice as you can see the ocean if you were seated closer towards the door or outside. The staff and service was great and they were nice. However, not worth it for the quality of the food. Dear Elie, which is a few steps away is actually better (apparently it is the same owner).
Nancy — Google review
service was great, very polite and got a coffee at the end. however, food was incredibly overpriced for not only quality, but also quantity. seafood platter (main meal) consisted of a few tomatoes, 4 cold myssels, a cold overcooked shrimp, and some rogue fish with a “grilled avocado” (half a avocado with no seasoning). also, just a small bowl of tzatziki was €9, with no bread???? beef carpaccio was amazing, and the super avocado salad was good but the salmon was a bit sub par… especially as u got 5 pieces for €19… while the service was great, the food and the price for the food did not match up, bit of a tourist trap, i can’t see anyone being a returning customer. also, there is somewhat of a sunset view but it’s blocked by a car park so you have to completely leave the restaurant to see it.
