Pub
The Bugle Hamble is a classic gastropub located near Warsash SO31, United Kingdom. The pub features large stone flagstones and antique wooden floors, creating a charming atmosphere for visitors. It's known for its specialty rum and beer offerings. Nearby attractions include the Port Hamble Marina and various dining options such as Banana Wharf and The King and Queen Pub.
Possibly the best fish and chips I've ever had!! When by the sea, I try to eat fish and chips, the Bugle has the best fish and chips I've ever had. No exaggeration!! The batter was so crispy it crackled as it was cut and the fish was lovely and flaky. Not greasy, absolutely perfect. Chips were super fluffy and the tartar sauce was a delight. The lemon was lightly charred which gave it a nice twist. My 4 year old at like a boy possessed which is high praise indeed. How he had space for ice cream afterwards I'll never know but he loved his meal. Staff were very welcoming with lots of smiles and our food was with us in no time at all. Reasonably priced, not cheap but not eye watering either. I'm so often disappointed in fish and chips by the sea where it should be top notch; the Bugle knows fish and chips. There is absolutely no shortage of pubs on the road, I would have no problem going back to the Bugle. A big pat on the back to the staff, they're doing the establishment proud.

Birthday celebrations! Cappuccino’s warm at best on the first round ! The gammon just edible but very sweet, the eggs were overdone but sent back and came back out nicely done. I have to say tho the gammon egg and chips wasn’t worth the price tag there was nothing to it ! Literally just a Handful of chips and the eggs!truthfully we mostly all gave it 5 out of ten! The nut roast was a joke literally the smallest piece of nut roast ever. All of the mains served were basically warm apart from the second lot of eggs and the fish and chips which were apparently ok. We were a table of ten and had visited before but we won’t be going back. It’s extremely expensive and most of the dishes were bland and warm. My friends mother didn’t rate the roast chicken at all and gave it a 3/10. Most main meals were £21 each or more so should have been absolutely perfect! There wasn’t any type of vibe in the pub worth mentioning, so all in all not a great experience unfortunately. The staff were nice tho and helpful with the cakes we supplied which were extremely nice.

This was a great lunchtime experience. We had 2 items from the prefix lunchtime menu for £20, which was great value. The prawns, onion bhaji and hamhock egg and chips were all delicious. The Fourtyniner beer was also a great option. A highly recommended dining experience! 👌

Great food, service and location in beautiful Hamble. Food was restaurant standard. Fishcakes and risotto were a triumph. Washed down with Ringwood Fortyniner. What's not to like!

I came here with a group of friends. I am a vegetarian and gluten free and there was plenty of choices. Norbert the manager was really good and pointing things out on the menu for me and very accommodating. Lots of us had the roast which was absolutely delicious!!! The service was fantastic, nothing was too much, offering us blankets and checking we were comfortable. The food came out quickly and all the staff were really friendly and efficient! Would fully recommend!

Family restaurant
Banana Wharf Hamble is a modern bar and restaurant located in the picturesque village of Hamble, offering global dining with marina views from its terrace. The Port Hamble Marina, where it's situated, is a popular base for cruising and yacht racing, providing various facilities. The restaurant is just a few minutes' walk away from the inviting pubs and restaurants in the area.
Great service and great food. Plus all you can eat ribs on a Thursday! We were seated and served by friendly and attentive staff. One person at our table asked how spicy one of the dishes was, and the waiter brought a sample to taste, and was able to ask the chef to offer an alternative sauce. Everything was delicious and fresh. Thought the place was busy, somone was always on hand to attend to us. Garlic bread was as good as Garlic bread can be. Duck tacos were stuffed with delicious filling, packed with flavour. Hamburger was cooked to perfection. The salmon was yummy and prepared especially for the person who ordered it. The truffle fries were okay, they were not terrible but they could have done with a stronger truffle flavour and didn’t need the cheese. Coleslaw was fresh and light. Ribs were soft and delicious, fell off the bone and moist. The ribs sauce was quite rich, I recommend not having and starters, so you can have more ribs 😬 wish we came hungrier. Bonus: Dog friendly

Below average. Unfortunately that’s the only way to describe Banana Wharf Hamble. We booked for an anniversary celebration dinner however were left very disappointed. The service was very slow, having ordered and then waiting we were told that there had been a mistake and the kitchen hadn’t received our order so we were left waiting again. The food eventually arrived, my pizza was very dry and tasteless, probably the worst pizza I’ve EVER had. The staff were not friendly nor attentive throughout the meal. We were sat many times waiting for staff to clear plates etc, meanwhile they could be seen having a chat and ignoring us. To top it off, the staff were rude and unprofessional, taking empty glasses without saying a word and throwing the bill on the table and walking off without saying anything. We weren’t even asked how our meal was until I asked for the 10% optional service charge (which is added by default to all tables) to be removed. When I explained why I did not wish to pay the extra 10%, there was not even an apology. It’s a shame such I’ve felt the need to leave a poor review, in over 10 years of writing reviews they have almost all been 5* and I have never felt the need to ask for a service charge to be removed. I would not recommend this place and will never eat here again

Very lively place with excellent, tasty food and good sized portions. From the specials board the seafood gratin was a delight and the mussels starter probably the best I've ever had. Service was too slow on this visit but forgivable due to the delicious food and great atmosphere.

My Husband and I have been to this restaurant twice now (we live in Alton, a good 45 minutes away) and I couldn’t recommend it enough. The food is exquisite with such a varied menu there really is something for everyone. The staff couldn’t be more attentive and the location is just lovely. It’s a real hidden gem! We will definitely be back!! Also, the roasts are out of this world!! See you again soon!

Popped in here with family and had a lovely meal. Being able to sit at the table undercover, it was raining, and still watch all the boats was very relaxing. We ordered cheese and bacon burger, nduja macaroni cheese and a banana wharf salad. The service was extremely polite and efficient. Great selection of beers, ales, ciders and wines. I bet its very popular in the evenings. The food was lovely and hot and tasted very fresh. The only criticism I could make is its a bit expensive but I guess your paying for the location as well. Its a large menu so plenty to choose from. Ill definitely come here again.
Julian C — Google review
Popped in for a spot of lunch and it’s was super nice, both has salads, very nice, very large portions, neither of us could finish our meals. Well worth a visit and with the great location, lovely weather and polite staff we will be back.

Absolutely stunning view! You’re sat facing the waters and boats. Benches outside to sit and soak in the atmosphere. Lovely food choice and variety here as well. You’re almost spoilt with choice. The staff was helpful and responsive. They were happy to recommend best dishes considering the relevant allergies. Food was very tasty and timely. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Drinks were also brought in good time. Absolutely recommend

5 of us came in without a booking and the man who i assume was the manager as he was in casual clothing not uniform, was so unbelievably rude. He was clearly saving all the tables for the locals which also did not have a booking, only 2 tables had reserved signs on, he made out we were a huge inconvenience to him when i said to him “we won’t be long here” he cut me off mid sentence and literally said to me “oh yes because you want to have your food before everyone else in here” in which I replied no because we are not all eating. The rest of the staff were amazing, so polite and attentive but he is so awfully rude. Then when clearly all the locals came in he didn’t even ask them if they had a booking, kissing them on the cheek and hugging them, greeting them with so much care but looked at us with disgust and did not even greet us. Then comes over and makes a comment saying “oh you are finally eating then” trying to make a joke which clearly was not funny after his terrible attitude.

Pub
Restaurant
The King and Queen Pub is a dog-friendly establishment with outdoor seating and a unique feature of having a launderette. It offers simple food options and boasts an extensive selection of rums for patrons to enjoy. This pub is well-liked by locals and visitors alike, making it one of the top places mentioned in various articles about Hamble. With its relaxed atmosphere, it's a great spot to unwind with some good food and drinks while enjoying the company of your furry friend.
Really attentive staff. Had a lovely Sunday roast and they're very generous with the portions. Churros are amazing highly recommended! Decent price for the amount of food we had. Dog friendly place and they even have a dog menu so adorable!

I visited the ‘pub’ late one evening, intending to meet family and enjoy a drink. I arrived first and entered the lovely front garden which was full of tables with umbrellas, well kept and tastefully lit. There was a large sign blocking the path which read ‘please wait here to be seated’. I had never seen such a sign before in a pub and, intending only to enjoy a pint, walked toward the bar. I was intercepted by a young gentleman and informed that I was not allowed in the bar, that I should wait to be allocated a table, where I would be given a drinks menu to choose from. I asked whether or not this was actually a pub and told that the King and Queen had not been a pub for over seven years. I pointed to the sign which had pub clearly written on it, asked once again if I could go to the bar to see what beer was on offer but as flatly refused access unless I needed the toilet. This is not a pub, and I have never before been told not to go near a bar in any such establishment, pub or otherwise. I felt very unwelcome.

Met for a group birthday celebration. Sat outside under the 'sails' and pleasantly cool in the shade. Food was good although vegetables were a bit mushy. Good access to the Quay from here. Parking is a challenge. Overall a good experience and hope to return. Dog friendly.

Held a surprise birthday party for my partner here with 20 people. They made organisation very easy amd provided great service and food throughout the evening. The staff were super friendly and the food came out very efficiently given the size of the group.

Me and my sister came here this week and had the best experience. The service, and food were both incredible! And the place is absolutely beautiful. We could see how much love has gone into this beautiful restaurant. And the young lad that served us was very knowledgeable, polite and friendly. The wild boar lasagna was the best I've ever eaten. If I could give more than five stars I would.

Have been here many times in the past but not for a while. Came for a drink to meet up with a friend. Always a nice chilled vibe here. Nice ambience. Seating inside or outside. Inside tends to be nice and cozy. The toilet is located downstairs. There is a little area to sit down a level at the back of the pub too. Parking is down in the main village car park. Friendly staff who are very attentive and helpful. Do like a visit here. Been too long!

Steak night! I love this place. My parents lived nearby for several years so this became popular, I visited again with my brother last night. Food is great, Thursday was steak night and we had the Tomahawk to share. A great selection of beers, cider and wine before moving on to the rum! The staff are great and I look forward to going back. Adding an old fashioned to the menu would get it six stars.....

I stopped here on a lovely summer afternoon with my husband and family for some drinks. It has such a beautiful and cozy outdoor patio, with plenty of seating, lots of lush plants and flowers, and overhead canopies and umbrellas to keep us cool. We only had drinks, so I can't speak to the food. But the drink menu was extensive enough. I had a Mortimer's berry cider that was delicious and refreshing. Cheers!

Pub

Nestled in the charming village of Hamble, Ye Olde Whyte Harte is a delightful pub that exudes warmth and character. With its inviting oak beams and cozy log fire, it offers a perfect retreat for those seeking comfort and good company. Visitors rave about the well-kept ales, particularly the HSB, which is served at just the right temperature. The menu features hearty pub grub that hits the spot—while nothing overly fancy, it's consistently tasty and satisfying.
A Pint at Ye Olde Whyte Harte: A Delightful Experience Stepping into Ye Olde Whyte Harte in Hamble feels like a warm embrace from history itself. This charming pub, with its cozy nooks and rustic beams, offers the perfect setting for a relaxing pint. The atmosphere is always lively, with friendly locals and the occasional sailor sharing tales of the sea. The selection of ales is impressive, and the staff are more than happy to recommend their favorites. I opted for a classic bitter, which was perfectly poured and delightfully refreshing. Pair it with some hearty pub grub, and you’ve got yourself an evening to remember. Whether you’re a regular or just passing through, Ye Olde Whyte Harte is the kind of place that makes you feel right at home. Cheers to good times and great company!

Lovely pub, came in with our dog and we’re drenched and cold; to be met with a lovely log fire, and great service! Food was absolutely lovely! The chips were some of the best I’ve ever had in my life! Only mistake I made was getting the large ham, eggs and chips! Absolutely huge portion! Well worth the price

Lovely pub. Decent beers. Fire. Oak beams. What's not to like

Hands down the worst carvery I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. Roast potatoes looked like they had been cooked on the radiator and were basically just semi boiled potatoes. The chicken looked like a small roasted pigeon. The Yorkshire pudding was flat as a pancake and the gravy was actually some how thinner than water. How this place has an average 4.4 star review is mind blowing. Toby carvery blows this place out the water and that’s saying something. Absolutely shameful roast dinner, will definitely never be coming back lol.

We've eaten here a few times as it's super convenient when chatting a yacht at the nearby marinas. The Whyte Harte is a very typical "English country pub", as in it's old, quaint and nicely decorated but has no over the top modern features. The food has been consistently good and there's usually a good selection of interesting local dishes alongside pub classics. This is topped off with a good selection of Fuller's beers, happy and helpful staff and a great atmosphere.

Nice older location with a warm, inviting interior. The staff were friendly and were good at chatting. Service was prompt and my food came out quickly. Didn't have time to partake in a full meal but I did enjoy my Whitebait which also was the first time I've tried the dish. It was quite tasty and I definitely would eat it again. Nice location and it was an easy walk. I'd recommend a visit to this pub!

We ate & drank here a few times whilst visiting Hamble recently. We came for the HSB which was well kept, served at a good temperature & delicious. There were also 3 other ales which were all good but we kept returning for HSB. We had a lunch and a dinner here & food was good pub grub, tasty & hot but nothing exceptional. However, having seen a couple of pies come out which looked amazing I would definitely order one if we visited again. It was friendly pub with both bar staff & customers ready for a chat. Get a bit more "localish" then some of the pubs in Hamble which we really liked. Dog friendly to boot so all I all very pleased it was our nearest pub.

Nestled in the charming village of Hamble, The Victory Inn is a delightful traditional pub that boasts classic red-brick architecture and rustic wooden floors. This inviting establishment offers a diverse menu filled with hearty pub grub, featuring seasonal themes to keep things exciting. Just a stone's throw away from Port Hamble Marina, known for its rich sailing heritage and yacht services, The Victory Inn serves as the perfect pit stop after exploring the picturesque surroundings.
Saw earlier in the week a new menu was being released and knew we had to come and try it! Fantastic options for all courses and plenty of gluten free and vegetarian choices. We went for the garlic mushrooms and chilli and garlic king prawns to start, they were both incredible! For mains our son had the pizza with added ham, a brilliant sized portion for a kids meal! We had the sirloin steak medium well and the new Nelsons Column burger, both cooked perfectly and the burger was definitely impressive! Sadly we were too full for desserts which was a shame as so much to choose from! Amazing food, great atmosphere, brilliant service!!

Lovely pub with very friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Food excellent. I had risotto, which is always a bit risky but it was perfect and delicious. My sister had steak pie. Pastry was very nice. Full of meat with veg and a delicious caramelised gravy. I’d eat there again definitely. Thanks for a lovely lunch.

Dog friendly pub in Hamble. Friendly bar staff and a good selection of food. Lunch menu served until 4 pm. I think food service continues after this. Dogs allowed on ground floor. The main bar area is old stone, handy if your dog has a wee. Our two puppies didn't, I'm pleased to say. Left end of the bar is a carpeted area with tables and fire place if you like it a bit more cozy. There's an upstairs area and a covered outside area with lots of bench tables. Prices were very reasonable.

Fabulous food 😋. Lana our waitress was scatty and forgetful but Bev saved the day. It all added to a very fun night with the most tender steak we have eaten in a long time. Great value for money on a Monday night. Love this place and just wish we lived nearer!! Will definitely be back 🥰🥰

We had Sunday lunch and it was absolutely delicious, and the price was reasonable (in this day and age!) but what impressed me and my family- the service was fantastic upstairs, one of the young ladies had a fantastic attitude and very friendly; a real credit to the pub, may it continue! 👍

Came to the Vic tonight for a birthday celebration. The service was great and the setting of ballons and birthday banners were just perfect. The food was delicious, hot and the steaks were cooked just as we all wanted. Quality food. A note that the service by the two staff serving was great. Both Liv and Bev were attentive and friendly, and were on the ball. Cannot reccommend this venue enough. Thank you The Vic.

Christmas dinner for 21 for a Hamble based motorcycle group and partners. The whole meal / event was amazing from start to finish food was great, except the Xmas pudding which was a 5/10. Band in the main bar was great. Will definitely be back again soon, thanks to Dan and his team.

I am a sailing instructor and regularly bring crew in for an evening meal at The Victory. I always book a table for five online and ask for rump steaks on the Monday steak special night. On arriving this Monday I was told rump steaks had sold out and only sirloin was available at a more expensive price. We had sirloins but when we came to pay our bill we were told by the barmaid that there were five rump steaks left over and they were the ones we had pre-ordered. This is the second time this has occurred. So I am very disappointed by this lack of organisation from the kitchen to the bar staff. The pub has now apologised for the mix up and I look forward to my next visit.
