The local history museum Von-Velen-Anlage is a small yet worthwhile destination. The affordable admission fee allows visitors to explore the exhibits and enjoy a pleasant 45-minute boat ride through the lush surroundings. The staff is welcoming and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. Additionally, the museum offers an intriguing insight into the shipyard's history, providing ample opportunities for learning and discovery.
Small place, but worth the visit. Cheap entrance. The boat ride is also really nice, for 4 euros you go on a 45 minute trip trough a green landscape. Friendly staff!

Very interesting museum about the people and the conditions they lived in when cutting the turf.

(Translated by Google) A fairly small moorland settlement. There are a few houses to look at and lots of background information about what it was like back then. It's inexpensive at €4. The highlight is actually the 45-minute boat ride, which you can book for €5 (it's optional). There, you travel along the canals and see nature from a completely different perspective. (Original) Eine recht kleine Moor Siedlung.

(Translated by Google) This museum is a must-see. It was built and maintained by volunteers. We learned a wealth of valuable information about the times and lives of the first settlers in the Papenburg area. During our tour of the museum grounds, we were given a vivid demonstration of how the marshy land was drained. We particularly liked the fact that we could move around the cottages without any barriers. There is an impressive collection of tools and household items. The garden across the street is also worth seeing. It's a shame the museum café was closed. We would have loved to have a buckwheat pancake. We can wholeheartedly recommend a visit and wish the museum and its staff all the best.

MEYER WERFT GmbH & Co. KG, located in Papenburg, Germany, is a renowned shipbuilding company that has been constructing massive cruise liners for centuries. The facility offers an organized tour providing insights into the process of building and shipping these colossal vessels through narrow channels to the open sea or harbor. Visitors are taken on a journey through the company's history with informative films before being guided through various stations by knowledgeable staff members.
Drove to see the newest cruise ship from Disney. You have a great view when the ships are outside. I will come again to have a tour in the visitors centre. Recommended trip!
Edson K — Google review
Very disappointed, we thought we could see more of the ship but in reality is that you do a tour for an hour, watching a few movies, see some models indoors. even when you thought you had chance to finally see where they build the ship, but no, the reflective glass windows block everything. Pretty explode what you get.
Inès — Google review
i loved my days here in Meyer Werft. Meyer Werft is one of the biggest ship building yard in the world. The facility has one of the best in the world. They built ships for hundreds of years already. Official ship maker of NCL and AIDA Cruises back in 2013 but im not sure right now. Pictures are way back 2013. Wish i could visit the place again one day.

Very interesting tour, you get to learn about the history of this fantastic warf. You can also watch the people work on new cruise ships which will make you feel very humble in close vicinity of such majestic ships. A must visit!

Vivienne B — Google review
We liked the organization of the tour. You are picked up in the city by the Rathaus/parking lot by a bus and taken to the shipyard. Along the way you are given a bit of the city's history. When you get there you are taken to see a few short films about the history of the company. Then the guide takes you to each station. We had a lady named Ruth and she was very knowledgeable and kind. At the end you of course land in the gift shop before you are taken back to the parking lot. We can't wait to get on a cruise ship! Ahoy!

Gut Altenkamp is a captivating destination that beckons history buffs and culture lovers alike. (Translated by Google) Gut Altenkamp, in Papenburg/Aschendorf, with its large baroque garden and the old manor house, is still in hibernation for a bit. However, the first spring bloomers are already enchanting the mind and the large, evergreen yew hedges and leafless espalier linden trees arouse curiosity about the view behind them. Large, gaping holes and caves have formed in old giant trees that are a source of amazement. What stories would these trees tell if we could speak them? A wonderful place to visit that invites you to take a walk at any time!

(Translated by Google) We saw a very interesting exhibition of paintings by Christian Grumbkow, who truly knows how to use color. The video about his painting technique was also very impressive. It would have been nice if some of the rooms in the historic building had been furnished. Unfortunately, we only saw one painted room with restored motifs from the 18th century. If it had included furniture from that period, the journey back in time would have been complete. (Translated by Google) From Heede to Aschendorf. Gut Altenkamp is an estate in Aschendorf, municipality of Papenburg. It is a beautiful old country house, built in 1728-1730 by Peter Pictorius and surrounded by a moat. The mansion is currently used for exhibitions and concerts. And there is a truly beautiful park, inspection is maintained. Only there is a lack of color, no shrubs or flowers that bloom...a great pity...this would give the park even more charm!! Therefore 1 star less. Tip: (from someone I spoke to in Aschendorf) during the weekend you can drink coffee/tea and there is home-baked cake/pie. Daarom 1 ster minder. (Translated by Google) Nice place. With a park that is beautifully landscaped. A few flowers are missing but otherwise very nice. Unfortunately, a few trees are also broken, which is why the star is deducted. It would be really nice if this park was cleaned up a bit. It's pretty easy to transport yourself back to that time. The main building is also very pretty. There is also a coffee. Parking spaces are available. There is no entrance fee to the park. Have fun stopping by. :) (Original) Netter Ort. :)

Beautiful location with a great patio. Excellent food with generous portions. Staff was fantastic, right from the greeting and throughout the meal. They speak excellent English and understood everything we asked, including special requests for my daughter’s food allergies. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately due to the slow and unattentive service i gave the lower rating; the location is amazing, food is ok, but the downside of the place is the service. After we set down, took some time, some good time for the waitress to find us, although we were not hiding. This place could be even better as is. I can recommend if you would like to sit and enjoy a nice coffee and not be bothered. Prices are ok. Again, location is a gem, overall you dont make a bad move if you try it. I had a coffee and a cake which was great!

I was helping myself to the buffet and was told to put less on it, etc., and even heard the word "Asso" in my ear. I confronted them about it, and the other guests witnessed how I, and ultimately they, were yelled at. When it also turned out that the non-alcoholic beer they ordered was mixed separately with alcohol, and they confronted me about it again, they were yelled at again, the atmosphere was completely ruined. Finally, the fact that it had to be paid for became a problem. I'd like to say thank you!! We were there with two children 7/11 and were promptly offered a children's cheeseburger with children's fries, which was very thoughtful because we couldn't find a suitable children's dish on the menu, it was about the portion size. I had a Jägerschnitzel with sweet potato fries and my wife had the Spargen with salmon and potatoes with hollandaise. It tasted very good and all the plates were completely empty. For dessert we had the strawberry sundae, the mascarpone with rhubarb and a chocolate vanilla ice cream with cream, which was also a successful conclusion. We paid for several drinks under €100, which was totally fair for the quality. The owner was also very friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back (Original) Wir waren hier zu vier essen und es war fantastisch. (Translated by Google) We celebrated our wedding at Reiherhorst a year ago and apparently forgot to write a review, but we'd like to do so now. Basically, we can only agree with the other 5-star reviews. It was beautiful. Thanks to the weather, the champagne reception, as well as coffee and cake with a wedding cake, could take place in the park. The ambiance alone was beautiful. We also had our wedding photos taken in the park. The small park offers many beautiful motifs, and it's convenient not to have to drive anywhere specifically for the photos. If you want a relaxed wedding celebration where you don't have to worry about anything on the day and want to be pampered, Reiherhorst is the right place for you. Mr. Garen has very good and well-thought-out concepts for wedding celebrations of various sizes. Beyond his concept, however, he and his team are flexible with the bride and groom's wishes. Whatever is feasible, they are happy to implement. The food was delicious, and the staff simply perfect. Despite the high standards, nothing is over the top. Our guests were both pleasantly and lastingly impressed.
