Nestled in the heart of Taiyuan, Jinci Temple stands as a testament to the region's rich historical tapestry. This ancient temple complex is not only home to a remarkable 3,000-year-old cypress tree but also showcases stunning architectural marvels from various dynasties. Visitors can explore its intricate buildings and memorial halls while soaking in the serene beauty of nearby Yunji Park, complete with picturesque landscapes and tranquil lotus ponds.
Beautiful palace and we spent an entire afternoon here (I could spend all day here!) The architecture is wonderful and I love the little (ok very famous) temple near the entrance that looks like a little owl with the round windows 😁😍 allegedly it inspired the temple in the famous journey to the west tv series.

The Jin Temple was built to commemorate Tang Shuyu, the founding prince of the Jin State in the Zhou Dynasty, and his mother. It is the earliest existing royal sacrificial garden in China and the ancestral temple of the State of Jin. Besides featuring ancient Chinese architectural art, the coloured sculptures, murals and steles are also national treasures.

Twin Pagoda Temple, also known as Yongzuo Temple, is a significant historical site in Taiyuan, China. The temple complex features two impressive tiered octagonal towers that were constructed during the Ming Dynasty over 400 years ago. It is located in the Jinyuan District and is celebrated for its well-preserved pagodas.
A lot of memories, amazing historical place, almost empty, u can take ur time discovering the place.
Sam Z — Google review
Great for anyone interested in history, architecture, and breathtaking views. The two towering pagodas, dating back to the Ming Dynasty, are stunning examples of ancient Chinese craftsmanship, standing tall with intricate brickwork and elegant design. Only the main temple and access to Twin Pagoda Temple you need to pay an entry fee of 10rmb/pp. Otherwise a lot of locals use the park for leisure and exercise. Climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of Taiyuan through little windows, making the effort well worth it. The temple grounds are beautifully maintained, with peaceful gardens, traditional pavilions, and centuries-old stone inscriptions adding to the serene atmosphere. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a tranquil escape, the Twin Pagoda Temple is a gem that shouldn’t be missed. Highly recommended, especially during summer or spring when the trees have green leaves & flowers.
Kuan-Yu C — Google review
This is one of the more interesting attractions in Taiyuan city. The autumn chill created a relaxing and tranquil ambience for the park and it was not crowded on a weekend, terrific for a stroll or walking the dog. This temple with the two pagodas dated back to the Ming dynasty, the east pagoda was built in 1597 while the west in 1612.
CK C — Google review
Entrance to the temple itself is now 30 Rmb. The temple and park is massive. There are many historical complexes inside, including a calligraphy museum. Complete the experience by climbing the towers itself. Just be careful because the stairs does not have safety railings and there are many people trying to climb it.

The Twin Pagoda Temple (Chinese: 双塔寺; pinyin: Shūangtǎsì), officially known as Yongzuo Temple (Chinese: 永祚寺; pinyin: Yǒngzuòsì), of Taiyuan, Shanxi province, China, is a temple containing two pagodas dating from the Ming dynasty. The East pagoda was built in 1597, and the West one in 1612. In charge of the pagoda’s construction was a high ranking monk, named Fodeng (佛灯). By the 20th century, deterioration since construction had caused the East pagoda to slant from its center of gravity by 2.87 meters. In 1995, experts set about trying to correct the slant. They removed earth from underneath the pagoda and successfully corrected the pagoda's tilt. The temple contains approximately 260 stone steles, as it is the location where stele from temples in the area that are no longer extant were moved. The temple grounds also contain many peony trees, one of which dates from the Ming Dynasty.
Achu M — Google review
As a local, I've gone to this place several times. Now only in specific dates and limited time can tourists go inside the tower. Twin Pagoda Temple is now inside a park, whose entrance fee is 20 Yuan. Inside the park, you can enjoy beautiful flowers in spring and experience great miaohui(activities held specifically at temples) in summer. However people nearby are really bad. Outer Temples are engraved with characters, mostly tourists' names, inner Temples are quite narrow, allowing only one person to pass the staircase simultaneously. View from up there is not good, because now you can see nothing but taller buildings. In total, if you just want to see the tower or want to climb them, do not come, because they are highly protected so you can't even touch them nowadays.

(Translated by Google) Yongzuo Temple is commonly known as the Twin Pagoda Temple. Some travel bloggers on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) suggest that visiting Twin Pagoda Temple is not worthwhile simply to see the two towers. However, I believe it is well worth a visit. One of the towers is even open to visitors, allowing them to climb to the top. The view from there is breathtaking, offering a breathtaking view of the other tower and downtown Taiyuan.

(Translated by Google) I went there late and couldn't go in, but it looked pretty good from the outside. Wenfeng Pagoda was built in the 27th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1599), and the other tower was built by monk Miaofeng nine years later. After completion, it was called Xuanwen Pagoda together with the old pagoda. The twin towers are both 54 meters high, facing each other in the north and south, 46.6 meters apart. They are both constructed of bricks and imitated wood.

Highly recommend to visit! So many beautiful historical artifacts and ancient relics waiting for you to discover them. It is absolutely amazing and mind blowing to see so many ancient treasures and to explore how the people lived and thrived here in the middle of China. The museum itself is quite well designed, and I would suggest you spend at least half day here to really enjoy all the fun of history and culture. You won't be disappointed! Though note that it could be kinda crowded, especially for the national treasures, so be prepared!

This Chongshan Temple was in the Ming Dynasty. I miss Queen Mother Ma. As a result of the additional construction, this temple can be called the Imperial Temple. I hope that this temple can cultivate the Sangha and be aware of its education. I hope Zhu Fan’s descendants of the Zhu family will contact me. I want to remind the descendants of the Zhu family that Zhu Yuanzhang is in a bad situation now. You must eat vegetarian food, recite the Buddha's name, observe the precepts, recite the Diamond Sutra and the Ksitigarbha Sutra, Dedicated to Zhu Yuanzhang, without Zhu Yuanzhang there would be no descendants of the Zhu family. I am practicing hard in this life to remind the administrator of Chongshan Temple, every day Help me to pray to the main deity in the temple, the Thousand-Hands and Thousand-Eyes Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, I, Zhu Fan, miss the Bodhisattva very much, but I have no choice but to have insufficient karma in this life. Too many descendants of Zhu Han were killed, and many were reincarnated in Taiwan. I came down from the Shang Dynasty to serve the world, and I am exhausted.
