Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
The Friendship Botanic Gardens, located in Michigan City, cover 106 acres and showcase diverse flora from around the world. Established over 80 years ago as the International Friendship Gardens and Music Festivals, it still retains some of its original ethnic gardens. Visitors can explore rose gardens, lily displays, hand-carved sculptures, and a children's garden designed for interactive learning. The Symphony Garden hosts musical events amidst outdoor art installations.
Our wedding day was a dream come true and we could not be more grateful to everyone that helped us make this day into a reality. Margaret O'Donnell is the wedding & event specialist at The Friendship Botanic Gardens and she was AMAZING to work with. My husband and I have been visiting Michigan City for the last 9 years and had no idea this hidden gem existed until we started looking at wedding venues. If you are looking at friendship botanic gardens please note that their site through Zola, does not work too well. They didn't receive alerts about my initial inquiry through Zola. I found this out the hard way BUT, luckily didn't give up and I went directly to their website. I found Margaret's contact information, emailed her and she was very responsive and so easy to communicate with. We had our ceremony at the Symphony Gardens in front of their beautiful fountain and our reception at the Celebration Pavilion and the views were breathtaking! If you're considering an intimate space to have your wedding ceremony or host your next event, you will not be disappointed hosting your next event at the Gardens. You're in great hands with Margaret and the team there! Thank you for ensuring our wedding day was nothing but magical! Also if you're a Michigan City local or in town visiting, come check them out! Walking around the gardens is completely free and a great activity to do with family and friends, especially during the fall season when the leaves are changing colors :)

“Friendship” garden is exactly what this garden exemplifies. I came here with my family and this place was 100x better than I expected… and then some! The place had many options for kids to interact, so it was very family friendly, and the whole outside and natural experience is great and healthy for every visitor. Also, It’s very quiet and calm. The place includes extremely scenic trails, and gives great exercise to all who come, as well as a memory they will never forget.

I visited in late summer and it was very buggy-the kind that seemed to form a thick, buzzy, cloud around your head, but that's not why it lost a star. I d3ducted a star because I was expecting more flowers and pieces of interest. It feels more like a big park or walking path, which is still nice, but I guess I was just expecting a bit more. I sat near a pond for 2 hours and witnessed a proposal and what seemed to be a tiny, quick, wedding ceremony (or rehearsal?) across the way in a gazebo. I had packed a picnic and got some reading done in the shade of a willow tree. It was overall a good experience. I would visit again. I spied a cute little play area for children, too. I'll include pictures for reference.

This is an impressively large botanical garden. Im not sure there's a lot of native type plants, but the grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained.
Jeanetta W — Google review
What a gorgeous garden. It didn’t look like much from the entrance but boy were we surprised by the grandeur inside. There’s so much to explore and do for kids. I highly recommend a visit.
Olga S — Google review
Perfect weather! Wonderfully designed. So relaxing and surprising! Sorry about the pigs or raccoons uprooting everywhere. Thanks to so many who have made this a gorgeous peaceful place.
Jay W — Google review
I was a little taken back that there were admission prices, but after walking through and admiring it, it was well worth it. The upkeep is phenomenal, and it is a beautiful and quiet place to visit. Relaxing environment, lots of great trails to go through, incredibly fun and educational playground area for kids. I would go back for sure. Probably even worth buying a membership just for the kid's area alone. They also seem to have a wedding area and event area. Must see if you're in the area and love nature.
Taylor U — Google review
Kids enjoyed the large playground, water pump and big bells they could ring. Older people saw the international gardens (highlighting plants from different countries) and the US native gardens. There are both paved and unpaved walking trails. They have some really pretty event space (covered in case of rain) also if you are looking to hold something like that outdoors.

Sights & Landmarks
The Barker Mansion, a historic English Manor–style house-turned-museum, was built in 1857 by John H. Barker, a key figure in the railcar industry. Expanded in 1905, this grand residence boasts 38 rooms adorned with period furnishings and art objects. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it offers guided tours and can be rented for special events like weddings.
Wow, I was absolutely blown away by the stunning beauty of this place! As a huge fan of the Gilded Age, I was thrilled when my husband and I decided to stop by and explore the Mansion. We’re from Atlanta, and I had never heard of the Baker family before this visit, so it was a delightful surprise. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Craig, who was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions with enthusiasm and made us feel right at home. In the basement, Jack took over, and his passion for the exhibit was palpable. He pointed out hidden gems and offered insights that we might have otherwise missed, showcasing his genuine interest in his role. Upstairs, although I didn’t catch her name, the young lady was equally impressive. She guided us through with ease and answered our queries with a smile. Every member of the staff contributed to an exceptional experience, and we were thoroughly impressed by their dedication. The Mansion itself was a treasure trove of beauty and history, with every corner offering a new photo opportunity. We loved our self-guided tour and can’t wait to return during the Christmas season to see the holiday decorations. If you’re passionate about historical places and rich history, this is definitely an A+ destination. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in the area!

My husband and I really enjoyed and loved our tour to the Baker Mansion. It was pretty interesting to view so many things from old time and imagine the family living in this mansion. After the we did the tour, we decided to go around the block for a walk, and we found a hidden gem, there was an old fashion smoked meat market. Definitely we recommend to leave without visiting that store close to the mansion as well.
Joselin C — Google review
I’ve visited Barker Mansion many times, but today’s open house was especially charming. The staff was absolutely wonderful, as always, and the mansion itself never fails to impress with its beauty and history. My favorite part of this visit was the harpist. She played beautifully, was so talented and kind, even chatted with us and took a few requests. Such a special touch that made the experience unforgettable. Can’t wait to go back! If you’re planning a visit to Michigan City, or if you live here, I highly recommend a guided tour!

My wife and I were visiting Michigan City, IN for a few days and decided to check out The Barker Mansion for a tour. The mansion has been painstakingly renovated by a number of local companies that have done a great job of bringing this beautiful property back to its glory days. The tour was self-guided and there were helpful staff members on hand to answer questions and help with historical background and information. I recommend starting with the video and historical information located on the lower level before walking through the first and second floor rooms. This is a relatively new local attraction open as of June 1, 2024, and well worth a visit! Please feel free to use any or all of the attached photos.

Very nice self-guided tour. Polite and informative staff. Great local history.

Oh my I couldn't believe my eyes the beauty of this place was wonderful. I am a big fan of the Gilded Age. My friend and I stopped in to take a tour and see what the Mansion was all about. We are from Chicago and I had never heard of the Baker family before seeing the Mansion. The man who greeted us at the door (Craig) was very kind, knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The younger man (Jack) that gave us information in the basement about the exhibit was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to show us things he thought we may miss or would like to know. He answered all of our questions and seemed very interested in his position. The young lady upstairs was also very knowledgeable ( I did not get her name) and showed us where to go and answered all of our questions as well. We were very pleased with the people working at the Mansion. I could have taken a thousand photos every turn had something of beauty and history. We absolutely loved our self guided tour. We would definitely recommend going if you are in the area. We will be going back during the Christmas season to see how they have the Mansion decorated for the holidays. A+ place to visit if you are interested in historical places and history.

This is a cool, huge old mansion. They give you an iPad if you want to tour the house on your own. The family that lived in the house built railroad cars. If you like to tour historical places then you will like this.
James J — Google review
My husband and I are longtime, local residents and have passed this Mansion a thousand times and always wanted to stop. We recently (and finally!) booked tickets for a guided tour and it was AMAZING and our guide Craig was PHENOMENAL. Very, very interesting and totally worth it. We look forward to participating in other events they may have at the Mansion.

Specialty Museums
The Old Lighthouse Museum in Michigan City is a charming 19th-century lighthouse that now houses a seasonal museum showcasing maritime history. Housed within the original 1868 lighthouse keeper's dwelling, this museum offers captivating exhibits on Great Lakes lighthouse history, Michigan City's significance along the perilous Lake Michigan coast, and artifacts recovered from local shipwrecks.
I haven't been inside this museum in 25 years. Very bright and well laid out. Not a large place but still has plenty of room to walk around and explore all the exhibits. The top floor has beautiful views of the surrounding area. But, it's a tight squeeze on the circular staircase and it's top floor.
Timothy N — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed this small museum! 3 rooms on each of the two floors and packed with information/history of the lighthouse and town. The staff were super nice and provided us with additional information and answered our questions. I particularly enjoyed that each room had a button to push that provides you information on what is in the room. Need about 45 minutes to go through it. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and there were only 2 other couples. 1. It is not accessible. 2. Open Wednesday-Sunday 1-4 pm. 3. Don’t show up 30 minutes before closing.
N F — Google review
Definitely a must visit. The staff are nice and very knowledgeable about the lighthouse and history of the keeper and previous lake related incidents in the area. Nice small gift shop also. Give yourself about 1-2 hours to see the displays and learn some history. Make sure to cap off your visit by making a walk to the beach and then out to the pier/lighthouse if weather permitting (pier/lighthouse walk is handicap accessible, however there are a few steps from the beach sidewalk to the pier walk).
Brad F — Google review
Didn't go into the museum because it costs $10 per person and looked really small from the outside. There is the lighthouse outside and it was pretty cool. Unfortunately, you cannot go into the lighthouse, but you can go to the base of it. There were lots of people fishing and a cool Marina. The beach looked amazing, but it was a red flag day so we couldn't swim. Parking was a lot more than expected at $20 which is for the whole day, but we only stayed for an hour or so.

I went here over the weekend and it's a beautiful piece of history. The guides were very friendly and the store is so cute. Highly recommend if you're into local history. I'd love to return!

Love the history of this place. It is a small location, but in a great area. Only downfall is that there is a lot of steps in this building.

Outlet mall
Shopping
Factory Outlets
Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets is a charming outdoor mall located in Michigan City's North End, designed to resemble a waterfront village. Since its opening in 1987, it has been home to numerous factory stores and clearance centers offering discounts of up to 65% on a wide range of brands such as Columbia, Adidas, Skechers, Nike, Calvin Klein, the North Face, Le Creuset, Crocs, Old Navy, Samsonite and more.
We stopped here on our way to Chicago ORD airport have travelled from Michigan as there were a few shops that I wanted to go to. I didn’t factor in the one hour time difference though in Indiana and as the shopping outlet doesn’t open until 10am had to wait a while. We ended up spending a little while in a cafe across the road and plugging in the EV to a charge point. Certainly after it opened the place was almost deserted so no issue with loads of shoppers. Plenty of shops to choose from and some decent bargains to be had.
Brian M — Google review
All the usual stores On one level in the heart of Michigan City. Visited the Ralph Lauren and Levi stores. They were both stocked well with outlet only clothes. The stores were neat and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly at both locations. You can hit your favorite stores within a couple hours or less and hit the road.

It's cool, It has good shops, There's a comic museum here now, only 10 bucks, if you like comics its pretty awesome and theres some arcade games that come free with admission.I never see many people here but I hope more go because it really needs to stay in buisness. Good place to have in Michigan City, it's a cool little place that I want to see thrive. Nike outlet is always my go to.

I had a very enjoyable experience at Lighthouse Outlets. The shopping area was well-kept and easy to get around, and the staff was friendly at each store. I was especially impressed by the variety of merchandise available from top name outdoors vendors (Northface, Columbia, Nike, Eddie Bauer) with plenty of great deals to choose from. Overall, it made for a fun and worthwhile shopping trip. #rawr

Make sure you appendix carry to where nobody can see you print… The very liberal security guard asked if I had a firearm of course I told him yeah I showed him my permit. He said I wasn’t allowed to have it which is bullshit but since I’m on private property theoretically he’s probably right that’s what their rules are. Just make sure you appendix carry where they can’t see it. He told me to put it back in my car. I just swapped It… really weird He would ask me that right in front of a bunch of younger kids that would break in my car There. If my car ends up having a broken window Another review… He also drove past those younger kids, probably Signaling i had a 🔫 Car I wouldn’t doubt it. The bad guy ever shoots at him I’m not helping him Not wasting my ammo to save liberals

The mall is huge and it might take you more than a day if you are planning to visit each and every shop. I went there twice during my two week trip and found the place very reasonable for purchasing clothing, jackets and shoes. It has great deals and you will definitely find something worth buying from here. It's hardly a 40-45 minutes drive from Stevensville. Loved the pace and bought good enough stuff from this place which made it worth the visit. I would recommend visiting this place as it's much closer than Tanger mall outlet (grand rapids) with a good enough variety of clothing available for purchase.
Anup M — Google review
Used to be a nice place I went there Friday majority of the stores are closed look spooky I only seen a few people walking around shopping after seeing a black guy with a ski mask on walking around I left I see enough of that where I live I wouldn't never waste anymore time going out there.

Took my family shopping while in michigan city and had a good time. Some stores are ok while other just seem very overprices for being an "outlet mall". Kids enjoyed, that's all that mattered.

Zoo
Nature & Parks
Nestled along the picturesque shores of Lake Michigan in Washington Park, the Washington Park Zoo spans 15 acres and is home to over 90 species from around the globe. The zoo boasts natural habitats with lush tropical flora, providing a sanctuary for injured or formerly illegal pets that wouldn't survive in the wild. Visitors can observe tigers, lions, bears, wolves, otters, and bald eagles among other favorites.
Had a lovely few hours here. It was a little overcast but I think that made the animals a bit more active. The staff we came across were super friendly. A great community zoo. We really didn’t have high hopes but it exceeded our expectations. Went with a 1 yo and 3.5yo. Stroller friendly throughout and plenty for both kids to see and interact with. Would definitely visit again if in the area.
Katie S — Google review
This zoo had some animals I had never seen before, which was pretty exciting. Some areas of the zoo have some stairs and some steep inclines, so come prepared for that. This zoo does not have a clear flow or clear signs a lot of the way, so take a picture of the maps posted in certain areas, it helps a lot. Also, you do have to pay for parking, and it is pretty expensive because of its proximity to the zoo and the beach area. If you get a chance to check out the lookout tower on a clear day, it is really worth it, as you can see the Chicago skyline far off.
Kankashank 4 — Google review
Would recommend taking a trip here if you are in the area, especially if you have little ones, we have big kids and even they loved it! It’s small enough that it’s not a whole day trip but plenty of animals to see. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to be handicapped accessible. Not very expensive, only thing I didn’t see when I looked online was the $20 parking fee. Admission is fairly cheap. I just think they should clearly put that there is a parking fee on their website(unless I missed it). Still would go again! We all loved it.
Susan P — Google review
It was a very nice zoo. It had a lot of animals. A lot of the animals were up close so there were a lot of good pictures. Really cozy, not small. Not a nice little hidden pass to walk around and lots of wildlife uncaged. I would recommend it. The animals look nice and taken care of and everybody was happy to work there.
Michael G — Google review
The ticket attendant was incredibly friendly, so we were off to a great start right from the get-go. The zoo is bigger (thought not large by any means) than you’d think, with lots of paths going around and around the animals, so you get multiple views of the enclosures. You could spend a solid hour here to kill time, but that’s if you really went around everything. The viewing tower was so cool, it gives you a really amazing view of the shoreline and the surrounding town. Be warned though, the stairs are pretty brutal (or maybe I’m just incredibly out of shape haha). Regardless, the animals were so cool to see! So shocked that there were 2 lions! It is a really cute little zoo, and for only $11 admission, it was well worth it in my opinion. Forgot to mention - there is ample free parking for the zoo and the beach (which is literally right next door)
Abigail C — Google review
The price was extremely affordable, and the zoo is much more than meets the eye from the road! It took us about 4 hours to get through the exhibits- and we loved every minute. The zoo also has incredible art pieces throughout, making for a next level experience. All workers were also very polite, and pricing on food in the zoo is fair as well.
Hope S — Google review
While this place is really cool have to go up to the top and climb the tower though and have some unbelievable views! I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of animals they had here and different animals! Every zoo has monkeys and snakes but they had black panthers, tigers, lions, bears cows, alpacas, bald eagle, red-tailed hawk, a few different kinds of wolves bobcats lots and lots of animals!
Doug D — Google review
It has had its struggles over the years, but has come through it all and is in pretty good shape. You're not going to spend all day there, but they do a really nice job with what they have. Don't skip on the tower, it gives plenty of great views on a clear day. A lovely little community zoo.

Brewery
Shoreline Brewery & Restaurant is a laid-back microbrewery and restaurant in Michigan City, Indiana, offering handcrafted beers, elevated pub eats, and live music. Since 2005, this family-owned establishment has been serving a diverse menu alongside their 12 delicious brews on tap. Overlooking Lake Michigan, it has become a top destination for locals and tourists seeking regional craft beer and delicious food near the beach and Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets.
My beautiful Bride, youngest, and I stopped for lunch after checking out the light house. I ordered a flight, my Bride got a "Sunny D", and the youngest got a sarsaparilla soda. My Bride enjoyed the Sunny D, she said it kind of reminded her of a "creamcycle" as a kid. The flight was good, my favorite was the Scotch Ale. The youngest said he "really liked" the soda. We ordered and split three ways the Scotch Egg, handmade old world pierogi, and coccoli. All were yummy, no one had a "favorite" when asked and thought all was good. For dessert, we ordered a peanut butter pie. It was yummy too! The only change we made would have been a side of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. No complaints though! Heather, our waitress, was attentive as well. She made sure we had what we needed and answered questions we had about the area. We would definitely come back if in the area!

First time eating at shoreline brewery. Had to try the flight of home brewed beer. Pretty good beer. I also had the fish and fries. And a bowl of Mac and cheese 3 peppers. I’d go again.

We walked in around 5pm with a party of 13 (three children) We tried to get drinks from the bar however the bartender had an attitude and said “I see three people not 6” luckily the staff worked fast to get the table ready and within the 20 minute quoted time we were sat…the guys then left the bar canceling our order. We then got Frank as our server. When I tell you that Frank is the one you want to go to, I’m serious. He handled our big party with ease. Drink refills quickly. All of our food out was exactly correct. The food was delicious. He even got all our separate checks split correctly. The guys were able to drink a few didn’t local beers due to Frank being on top of the drinks. Dirty dishes were taken away fast from the table. Frank did not auction of our food and knew what item went to exactly which person. It made our family dinner outing enjoyable, thank you Frank!!! Service was amazing! He was such a hard working server, polite & seamed to really care about his guest. Thanks so much Frank for making our experience amazing
Cyrstal M — Google review
The food was pretty good, though a little overpriced, and the restaurant had a comfortable atmosphere. Some negative things were they charge a 3% service fee if you use a credit card and with these prices, no one is going to carry that much cash. Also, on the evening we went, they were out of two of the items on the menu that we had ordered, so they had to come back to our table twice to ask us to order something else.
Dave D — Google review
I don't like to say negative things, but I would honestly not recommend eating here. My burger was dry and had no flavor, and the bun was burnt, not like a single but crispy. My dad had the salmon sandwich, and he did not like it. The beer i had was really good and the staff was not that bad. I don't understand why we had to wait 5 minutes to get seated in an empty restaurant.

Awesome food! I had the lamb burger. Nice and juicy with the right amount of toppings. Onion rings were good but not great because of lack of Onion. My husband had the walleye with capers super delicious. It came with some amazing Brussels sprouts. Summer was our waitress, and she was phenomenal. Great job, Summer, you're amazing with all you do. The beer of course was yummy 😋 And apparently they have band on Saturday and you can sit outside to enjoy the festivities. Don't pass this place up.

I was recently in town with my family for Labor Day weekend. After googling restaurants in the area, we settled on coming here. Overall, the service was good. We weren’t really a big fan of the brews. However, I did enjoy the Oktoberfest, And my wife enjoyed the blueberry beer. We ordered the poutine appetizer, which was pretty good huge portion. My wife ordered the mac & cheese, She wasn’t a big fan of it. It was just kind of basic. Our server did the right thing and took it off because my wife didn’t even eat it. Fish and chips and chicken fingers and fries. The chicken fingers just to be basic my daughter didn’t complain, but she’s also Four years old. Lol. My son enjoyed the fish. It looked lightly breaded.. Didn’t really care for the chips. The award-winning Greek burger… It was good, but not great. I wouldn’t order it again. Overall, nothing was bad, but nothing blew my socks off. I was impressed with our waitress service, but overall me and my wife didn’t care for the food or the beer.

This is one of my favorite family owned restaurants. I love the Buddha family. Huge section of food on menu. Wings are awesome, Tuesday they have special on boneless. Great bar area, aways busy. Drink specials frequently. Service is great alot of staff have worked there for a long time.
Lacey G — Google review
Went to Holly's last night. Ordered the boneless wings as they were on special and a side salad. Salad and Bleu cheese dressing was excellent wings were a joke. Idk why I expected them to be made there not these sysco chunks in a pool of unappealing sauce. I waited forever for my waitress to return. I sat in the bar and she was serving the main floor. When she did finally return she didnt see an issue than get defensive, thought maybe she made them - she didn't. The waitstaff there at the time (630p). Just another disappointing restaurant experience in MC. Who makes real food still?

Good spot but not a 5 star dish I ordered. Great service and no complaints. Food was good but not as fresh as I'd like. Everyone has thier own opinion.

It was our first time here and I'm so glad we decided to check it out. There is a wide variety of choices, all of which looked good. We started with an order of potato skins. I decided on a stuffed pita with teriyaki chicken, mushrooms, cheese, and pineapple. Phenomenal! Hubby had the cobb salad which was huge! And our aunt had the pulled pork sandwich. It had enough meat for 2-3 sandwiches. The prices were fair and the portions were beyond generous. And I can't forget to mention our server Angel! She was the best! She helped assist with suggestions since it was our first time and she did not steer us wrong. She is a true asset to Holly's. If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and go to Holly's!

Panini Panini is a charming deli in Michigan City that offers a European ambiance and an array of international specialties. The menu is seasonal, ensuring fresh options with each visit, and includes a variety of specialty pizzas. Vegetarians will appreciate the diverse selection available. In addition to their food offerings, Panini Panini takes pride in their wine and craft beer lists, providing excellent pairings for your meal.
I have loved this place since it opened! The food is a delight, very French in its cuisine (the quiche and croque Madame are my favorites) and everything I've tried has been delicious! The only place I know of where they have as good baked goods are Europe, so this is a great little spot for a cafe date. You won't be disappointed!

I personally had half of the grilled cheese and half of the mushroom sandwich and they were so delicious! The staff is always so kind and the atmosphere is comfortable. If you haven’t tried this local gem you are missing out!

An absolute gem! You must stop by and see owner Mars and her beautiful French style cafe. The food is simply stunning and amazing value. We ordered the half sandwiches and soup, you even get extra bread for the soup, a small salad and some melon. They also cater for gluten free! We couldn’t be more impressed. Will absolutely be back!

Panini Panini is a cute little cafe in Michigan City with counter ordering. I tried the Croque Madame, which came in a large portion with a nice béchamel sauce, though it was a bit difficult to eat. It was served with a lovely little side salad. The Dijon Chicken Sandwich, however, was a bit disappointing. It didn’t seem to have Dijon mustard and instead appeared to use standard yellow mustard, which was a bit confusing. Overall, the food was fine, but I’m curious to try their pasta next time to see if it’s an improvement over the sandwiches.

My first time here and was very impressed- quality food and great service - I will make this a regular stop on my trips to Michigan! Ham & Cheese was delicious and best potato salad and 2 slices of melon as well! Crème Brûlée was very good too! I wish I lived closer !

I was recommended this restaurant from an AirBNB host. I wish I could give this place 5 stars, but although the smell and presentation of the food was great, the pesto chicken sandwich I ordered was extremely dry. The chicken seemed to be overdone, and honestly, more cheese and pesto could also help. I will add a photo because it definitely looked and smelled appetizing! The server was super nice and offered some garlic sauce, but it did not help as the chicken’s skin was just too rough. That Italian bread was super yummy though. I gave the feedback to the employees and the chef, and they were apologetic and super nice about it. I was still hungry since I had not finished my first order, and although they were about to close, they made me another sandwich. That kind of customer service is TOP-TIER. They value honesty, and I appreciate that! ♥️ On the other hand, my children had the grilled cheese and LOVED it! I also love how they offered fruit as the free side. That’s a bonus for the health-conscious parents! They have a cute variety for desserts that included some brownie choices (the walnut is good and FREE with an honest review), a carrot cake, coconut macarons, crème brûlée, etc.. Due to their understanding and welcoming staff, I would recommend, and I would not mind giving this place another try.

Loved the food, and once again props to Thomas, I came in yesterday and I had to come back today after his excellent service/cooking. Once again he perfectly catered for my allergies, and even gave me 2 slices of Cantaloupe which I throughly enjoyed

Steak house
William B's Steakhouse is a Las Vegas-style restaurant located in the Blue Chip Hotel & Casino, offering an upscale dining experience in a warm and luxurious setting. The menu features a variety of high-quality steaks as well as delicious appetizers like bacon-wrapped scallops and Asian pork belly. The restaurant's CEO, William Boyd, has successfully maintained its reputation for excellence in the ever-changing restaurant industry.
I love William B's! I've ate here 4 or 5 times now and they never disappoint. I decided to try the Oysters Rockefeller, French Onion Soup, Petite Wedge Salad, Margarita on the Rocks and Coffee after dinner this time and it was really delicious and I would order it again. I've also tried the Lobster Bisque Soup, the Australian Cold Water Lobster Tails, Filet with Red Wine Sauce and the Large Wedge Salad. All of these dishes were exceptional but I do wish they would bring back the Red Wine Sauce. This restaurant is classy and you can dress up or dress casual but you do need to make reservations ahead of time. The atmosphere was wonderful and the waitstaff did an amazing job. William B's is located inside the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City Indiana, they have valet parking, plenty of free parking and handicap parking plus motorized scooters available to rent. Shout out to our Host Jordan Sharp Thank you so very much and have a fabulous day.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Blue Chip Casino for our anniversary and dined here. Since he has a shellfish allergy there wasn’t much for him as far as an appetizer, but our filets were amazing. Mine was crusted with Parmesan and cooked medium and perfect. Chris was an excellent server and very attentive. We will be back!

In sports terms, this place has “lost its fastball”. According to our party, William B’s used to be a lot better of an establishment. During our dinner, we experienced quite a bit of instances which lead me to believe that this place was below-average for a steakhouse, which contradicts what it used to be. Let me start by saying Carrie was awesome! She was quirky and fun. She was kind, gave great recommendations, and tried to make sure we had the best experience possible. The wedge salad was using cheap ingredients. Nothing tasted or was presented fresh. I was honestly disappointed with it. The French Onion Soup lacked flavor, and did not possess that “IT” factor that a good French Onion has. My wife ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, which was fine on the outside, but was clearly not cooked-through, where we found a rubbery inside. It was another lackluster dish. I ordered a Ribeye Filet, which was ordered to be medium-rare, which showed up more along the medium side. The drinks were drinkable, and the passionfruit ice was a nice touch, but when rating steakhouses, you have to rate them relative to each other. Compared to a McDonald’s, this place is great, but As far as fine dining goes, this place had the most underwhelming cuisine I’ve ever been served. I’m sure it might have been an off-night, but I have to call it how I see it. Be better!

I expected more due to the location and price. But, my taste buds were disappointed. We ordered steak, salad, fries, and ahi tuna. The atmosphere was meh. The service was good as our waiter was very attentive.

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary in August & we really enjoyed our time. Our server was very sweet, explained the meal of the day (the salmon) and dessert options. She recommended a drink for me (I don’t drink often), which was really good! My favorite was probably the dessert which we ate multiple times because it was huge. I would come back if I was in town.

Steaks were cooked perfectly. Some flavors didn’t pair well including bulbs of garlic on the plate. Filets were tender. Baked potatoes were XL. Temp space until the new restaurant opens. Would like to dine here again when the new restaurant opens.

Steak was cooked perfectly, filet was tender. Wasn’t sure about the cooked garlic bulbs on the plate and some flavors didn’t meld right. Baked potatoes was XL. This is a temporary space while remodeling the new space. Looking forward to it.

Mexican restaurant
El Cajete is a family-run Mexican restaurant that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. Despite its unassuming exterior, the restaurant surprises visitors with its delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine. The menu features mouth-watering dishes such as fajitas and burritos, which are known to be town favorites. Guests are welcomed by a friendly statue displaying the day's specials upon entering. The prices are reasonable, the portions generous, and the service is friendly.
Everything was phenomenal for lunch on a Saturday. Quick and friendly service with the 10 year old declaring them to have the best tamales in Indiana.

Service was great. Very friendly and prompt. They do have authentic Mexican cuisine although, my fiancee and I were not all that impressed with textures of some of the items we ordered. Cheese was very thick and almost unchewable, however the salsa and chips were amazing and the Verde and Hot Sauces were very tasty as well.

My husband and I stopped in for dinner. Everything was delicious! The workers were so kind. The music was a vibe! We will definitely be back! Highly recommend it!!

El Cajete is a local Mexican restaurant with good food at a very fair price for rather generous portions ($10-$20 per person, free chips with salsa, most dishes come with beans and rice). My only gripes are that the parking is a bit tight and the menu is rather limited (for instance, I didn't see Carnitas or Birria, though I didn't ask either). We "splurged" on the special dinner for two, and it came with plenty of food that tasted great, except for the cactus leaves, which were bland. The service was phenomenal, though, so overall 4/5.

I recently visited El Cajeta in Michigan City and had an excellent experience! The restaurant offers ample parking and comfortable seating, making it a great spot for a midday meal. The service was top-notch - our server was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, making it a great value. Overall, I'd highly recommend El Cajeta to anyone looking for a tasty meal in a welcoming atmosphere.

My fiancée and I visited around 2pm today and had an amazing time. It wasnt too busy and our waitress was very kind and quick with her service! The chips are good quality, on the thicker side. We tried the wet burrito and it was AMAZING! It's so huge we were able to get half to go and anyone could tell it was made with fresh ingredients. I do regret not trying the salsa, since I'm sure it's awesome. Next time we're in Michigan City we'll definitely have to stop by again ☺️

I must say that this little restaurant was a lovely surprise. From the outside it didn't seem like much, but the food and service were wonderful! Everything tasted fresh and delicious 😋 and the portions were huge! The restaurant is a little small but if you don't have too big of a group then it's a great place to enjoy some mexican food.
