Beach
Plage des Roches Noires is a stunning beach on Reunion Island, stretching over a mile with a mix of sandy and rocky areas. It's popular among surfers and features a boardwalk and marina. The beach hosts the Grand Boucan carnival, celebrating King Dodo with a giant effigy set alight, fireworks, and live music. In the morning, boats leave the port for fishing or dolphin and humpback whale watching.
Of the three main beaches in Reunion, Roches Noires has the best mix of features. The beach is on a half-moon shaped Bay and is protected from the bigger waves that come in at other beaches like Boucan Canot. The seabed slopes away gently and has a sandy bottom, whereas most other beaches can be a little rocky, and hard on the feet. The waves do come in bigger at the north end of the beach. The waves are normally big enough there for some boogie-boarding. It also attracts a mixed crowd, at the weekends it's busy and feels quite young, the rest of the week it's fairly quiet. It's also one of the few beaches that's close to town, so there's a good choice of eateries and shopping. Parking in St Gilles is difficult, there's a couple of car parks in town but they'll be busy during the week. The best place to park for the Beach is the marina, then walk over the bridges back to the beach area.

Very nice and safe white sand beach ! Bodyguard and a net keep you safe !
Thibault D — Google review
The beach is quite small and the water access is even smaller because of the nets so it can easily get crowded but there aren't too many beaches on the island and this one is among the best.

(Translated by Google) A great moment of relaxation at the end of the day. Much appreciated with a drink like this. Or breakfast on the beach in the morning. The beach is cool and especially not crowded. Great. (Original) Super moment de détente en fin de journée. Fort appréciable avec une boisson comme la. Ou un petit dej sur la plage au matin. La plage est coool et surtout peu de monde. Nickel.

Beach
Plage des Brisants, located on Reunion Island, is a 2.5km stretch of pristine golden sand running from the Port of Saint-Gilles to Plage de L'Hermitage. Although swimming is not allowed due to insufficient coral reef protection against sharks, it's a perfect spot for basking in the sun and enjoying sunset drinks at the Sauvage bar and restaurant.
The best place to be!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful beach but there are still better in Reunion. The coral reef is not sufficient to protect against sharks and allow swimming. The parking lot is small, which makes the beach difficult to access (out of season during the week, it was complicated, I can't imagine the weekend in high season...). Note the presence of the SAUVAGE Restaurant which has rather good reputation.

Beach
Boucan Canot Beach is a picturesque and popular spot located between Saint-Paul and Saint-Gilles-les-Bains. It features a beautiful white-sand beach facing the ocean, with a natural pool formed by volcanic rocks, making it perfect for swimming, especially for children. The area is lined with bars, cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, and even an art gallery.
Boucan Canot is Reunion's trendiest beach, sort of like Reunion's own mini-Copacabana. It's a beautiful and wide beach of white sand, very lively and busy at the weekends and attracts quite a young crowd. In the mornings there's not many people, and the sea is also usually very calm, that's my favorite time to visit. The sea is crazy warm, around 23C in the winter and 26C in the summer, I can stay in the water for hours. Swimming is allowed but normally just within the shark nets. The currents are quite strong, the waves can be big, and the beach is quite steep so keep an eye on your kids. There's a natural pool formed by volcanic rocks at the north end of Boucan where conditions are calmer. The bottom of the pool is a little rocky, but a great place to be when the waves are big and crash in. There's a bunch of restaurants and a couple of shops nearby. Great place for a day out, something to eat, a swim and some people-watching.
Russell R — Google review
Nice beach. Plenty of cafes to get food and drink. Parking can be a challenge.
Warren S — Google review
Beatiful beach, next to the lifeguard tower there are toilets and showers you are free to use. The beach itself is free for access as well. Not many shades though.
Anna B — Google review
Great beach, strong waves, nice rock pool area to protect from "sharks" decent bars around, no parking worries. Would be 5 starts but getting to the beach is rocky/shelly. Only reason its not a 5

Angler fish restaurant
Restaurant
Le D.C.P is a renowned restaurant in La Reunion known for its exceptional service and delectable food. The establishment consistently delivers high-quality dishes, particularly their fresh fish options that never fail to impress. While some visitors appreciate the unique seafood platters and grilled fish dishes, others have been bothered by flies during their dining experience. Nevertheless, the restaurant's generous portion sizes and flavorful fish offerings receive high praise from patrons.
The fresh fish was very tasty, the café gourmand was perfect, the cocktails were great, the staff was amazing. What a lovely restaurant to enjoy a Sunday lunch!

Best dinner at la Réunion! We had the menu dégustation, excellent! The fish was super fresh, and the crudité were exquisite. Absolutely best quality-price ratio. Super recommended!

We enjoyed it so much we came back the next day! This restaurant is seafood and only seafood which means they know what they’re doing! Great food. Great service. Great experience.
Bailey N — Google review

Hands down the best value for money and the freshest fish on the island. Can’t recommend enough eating here. Don’t expect any refined cooking but only the highest quality fish at a simple preparing technique
Max Z — Google review
We likes both the raw fish mixed platter and the 3 fish grilled dish. It’s interesting and different from other fish restaurants on the island. The food was good but we were really bothered by the flies, they were everywhere!

Restaurant
Restaurant Le Manta is an incredible dining establishment that offers a scenic and rustic atmosphere near the hermitage beach. The location is conveniently situated just across the road, providing a picturesque setting for enjoying your meal after sunset. The attentive and friendly service staff offer valuable recommendations to enhance your dining experience. The menu boasts delicious dishes, such as the flavorful grilled swordfish with a remarkable combava sauce. The ingredients are always fresh, ensuring a delightful culinary adventure.
We were looking for a restaurant nearby our hotel and found this little gem. Food was very good. The fish was well cooked, the sauces that went with it were good but maybe missing some spices. The crème brûlée was out of this world! Very busy when we got there but waiters were on point and the atmosphere was nice
Maxime B — Google review
Nice ambiance for dinner with decent food but rather high prices. Went to this location twice: the first time service was rather slow in general and the second time a part of my companion’s order was completely forgotten. I ordered different sides for the meal I chose, the daily fish dish, which the staff were accommodating about. My companion ordered dessert on both nights and spoke highly of the Profiteroles. I would consider going back to this restaurant because of the warm evening ambiance it provides, but I recommend taking away from other places for better quality and price.
Sonia P — Google review
We had two wonderful meals at Le Manta. Service was brilliant the staff worked really hard as it busy early. Great selection of Reunion beers too!
Mark B — Google review
Our favourite meal on the island! Wonderful in/outdoor environment in lush vegetation with tropical feel, across the street from the beach. Food was excellent and well portioned, served fresh and despite the restaurant being busy the service was excellent. Hostess speaks perfect English! Parking a bit difficult if you go for lunch on a nice beach day.
Richard ( — Google review
We ended up eating here a few times while in Reunion. The ambience is nice. They have an English menu and speak English which was a bonus. The vegetarian, seafood and dessert platters were all very good quality as were the meat dishes my husband had. The service was efficient and friendly.
Alexandra C — Google review
Lovely place for dinner in a cozy garden setting. The cocktails are a good start. The service staff were welcoming and friendly. I had swordfish with a tomato sauce and some garnishing. The fish was very fresh - the rest of the dish was so-so. Still, I would return for the ambiance and the fresh seafood.
Keith J — Google review
A lovely restaurant with a romantic atmosphere. The staff were positive and helpful. We ordered moule gratiné and chips for starters. For the main meal, we ordered a swordfish lasagne and a prawn curry. The food was delicious. However, the lasagne was too creamy and cheesy so we couldn't finish it. Overall a decent restaurant with several options.
Anika M — Google review
Decent food, but heavily overpriced. Limited selection and not better prepared than anything else around. Very few fish dishes no seafood, but this seems to be a common pattern in Réunion for whatever reason. Service OK, not brilliant and quite slow. Atmosphere and setup quite good, probably best in the area, very nice garden.

Creole restaurant
Bar
La Marmite, a creole restaurant, offers a warm and courteous service. Their menu features a diverse range of creole specialties such as civet zourite, cari camaron, rougail saucisse, and massale cabri. The restaurant could enhance their offerings by including starters like samoussas, bonbon piment, and beignets. It is an ideal place to experience local cuisine at reasonable prices.
Buffet style meals.. cozy looking atmosphere with the food being served over a fireplace. Something we noticed in Reunion is the abundance of cats, so naturally, there was 1 wondering around. Unique cocktail drink, virgin or alcoholic 🤭. Great tasting local food..

Very nice place to discover the local cousine. Very good pricing too! (20€ per pers for open buffee so you can try a lot of local dishes from one shot). Liquor shot at the end of dinner on the house :D And! The first place for us where the waiters could speak english. Recommended.

Le Bambou Bar is a delightful dining spot that offers an extensive menu featuring a variety of cuisines, with a strong emphasis on Italian dishes. Nestled conveniently at Boucan Canot Beach, it’s the perfect place to enjoy lunch while soaking in stunning ocean views. The bar also serves delectable treats like ice cream, waffles, and donuts throughout the day. Guests rave about the friendly and professional staff who ensure efficient service even during busy weekends or school holidays when queues can be longer.
Good Restaurant with huge choices of different food. Main restaurant Italian style, during day tasty ice cream, waffles, donuts and so on. The staff was really kind, professional and efficient. We had dinner there 2 times and everything we tried was awesome

I do not recommend at all. We had a horrible experience at that restaurant, several cockroaches were flying and walking around what cause the table next to us to leave suddenly and one cockroach landed on my plate and another tried to go up the chair. Neither the waiter nor the manager acknowledged the situation. When I asked that I will not pay for ONLY the plate where the cockroach was, the manager was rude and yelled, didn't even apologize for the incident. Avoid this place, if you want to enjoy your time.
Ethien S — Google review
I got a seafood platter which was disappointing. The quality of food is not terrible but not great considering how expensive it is and the surroundings feel dirty. Lots of bird poo all over the chairs. Wasn’t comfortable to sit at. Staff are friendly and good view of the beach.

Go by le Cap Mechant is a highly recommended buffet restaurant on La Reunion Island. It offers a wide range of delectable dishes and an impressive variety of fresh desserts, such as different types of cake, ice cream, fruit, and pancakes. When setting up your plate, be mindful to save some space for appetizers if you wish to indulge in these delightful treats later. The buffet is excellent and competitively priced, providing exceptional food that is both delicious and healthy.
Excellent!!! Food was delicious. There was a lot of variety. Service was rapide and the team nice . I rated 4 star for the atmosphere as there was a lot of noise. Apart from that everything was perfection. I highly recommend Go by Cap Mechant! Tl

Located conveniently right by the beach. The dining area is spacious, in open air but covered above. It was comfortable and did not feel hot. The service was good. They asked us for drinks and came often to pick up the plates. Offers a wide variety of food. The salad options were very good. The creole section was delicious. The sushi was not very good, the rice layer was too thick and I don’t think the fish was fresh. The risotto was too creamy, i don’t think their main ingredient for the sauce was parmesan cheese. The dessert was very good! Especially the ice cream, french crepes and deep fried cassava! I recommend this place and would go back.
