Llandudno

Llandudno is a coastal town in north Wales. It’s known for North Shore Beach and 19th-century Llandudno Pier, with shops and a games arcade. Northwest of town, the cliffs of Great Orme headland jut into the sea. Ancient tunnels lead to a cavern at Great Orme Mines. A 1902 tramway has an upper and lower section, and travels to the headland’s summit. To the east, smaller headland Little Orme is a nature reserve.

Llandudno Pier is a stunning Victorian structure that stretches over 700m above sea level, making it one of the longest and most exquisite piers in Wales and the entire United Kingdom. This Grade II listed pier offers a delightful array of seaside attractions, shops, and food stalls, including a charming bar at its end. Visitors can indulge in delicious treats while enjoying captivating views of the Irish Sea.
Llandudno Pier is a quintessential and wonderful seaside destination in beautiful North Wales. The panoramic views from the pier are stunning in every direction. I visited on a typically British day—windy and wet—yet I still thoroughly enjoyed every moment. There's a certain charm in braving the elements here, and it's a testament to the pier's appeal that it remains enjoyable regardless of the weather.
Iftikhar Q — Google review
The pier was unfortunately closed when we visited, and honestly, it looked a bit worse for wear—definitely in need of some TLC. That said, it still has a certain charm, and we ended up getting some really great photos with the moody clouds and seaside backdrop. You can see how iconic it used to be, and hopefully will be again. Even though we couldn’t walk it, the surrounding promenade and views still made it a worthwhile stop.

Lovely traditional pier. In better condition than many piers and has all the stalls still in place. Tried the lovely prawns and chips in the past all have been great. Used to call it death pier with all benches and dead flowers. Didn't like that too much seemed a little depressing. Its cleaned this up a little removing dead flowers meaning a nicer experience. The end of the pier is great with bar and views to die for.

me and my friend we went with a full bus of so many people which includes our family , family friends and children and some unknown persons as well , bcoz its a charity trip for gaza and that trip help them to provide important stuff. so about the trip i can say it was so wonderful, so enjoyable with so much fun , the weather was perfect , the beach vibe is perfect and off-course the food was perfect. so i can say the overall trip was perfect.❤️🤗

A lovely pier, lots of market type shops and gift shops, and a pile of food shops so you'll never go hungry while taking in amazing views from the pier. There's a few boat trips that can be done. Whether thats a slow cruise around the bay or a speedboat experience. The pier seems to go on forever, a lot to explore
Tom J — Google review
A good old fashioned pier where you can have a leisurely walk. There are small stalls either side along the sides, and a cafe and a bar at the far end. For the kids, there are amusements and rides at the start of the pier.
Andrew D — Google review
Little bit disappointed by the offerings of entertainment on the pier it felt like it could have had more shops and more things to do along the way to the end. Although the bar and cafe at the were well with a trip to. The views from the pier were stunning and I enjoyed sitting outside with a drink watching the ships and windmills. More shops along the peri would be much better.
Y D — Google review
Llandudno Pier is a beautiful Victorian seaside pier, wide and long with plenty to enjoy. The arcades and amusements keep it lively, while gift shops, cafés, and many donut stalls add to the charm. A ferris wheel and speed boat rides give extra excitement. You’ll also see plenty of seagulls surrounding the pier, so be careful as they often try to grab food from visitors. The atmosphere is relaxed with stunning hill views and lots of photo opportunities. Walking along the beach with the breeze feels refreshing, and on clear blue sky days the scenery is even more spectacular.

Nature & Parks
Great Orme is a stunning limestone headland in Llandudno, offering picturesque vistas of the sea and Wales, including the Isle of Man and Snowdonia National Park. It's a 350-million-year-old country park with miles of paths to explore, an ancient mine, and wild nature with Kashmir goats. Visitors can reach the top via cable car or tramway and enjoy the Old Mines. The area also features a ski and snowboard center for winter sports enthusiasts.
This is a great place to go and spend 2 - 3 hours just roaming around and admiring the natural beauty of the place. We were in Wales on a driving trip and drove up to the summit in our own car. It's an easy drive up and back and there is plenty of parking space available at the summit. You can walk around the place and get a great 270 degree view of the bay. Also, you can see a very large windmills farm in the sea!

We went up with a car, beautiful views with sheep on the way. Breathtaking views at top. Very windy so be prepared! If you like cheeky seagulls, you'll enjoy this place a lot!

Stunning location with amazing views in all directions. Well worth the bike to the top (3/4 to the top really) but, if you get the choice, take the tram. Much easier on the legs and lungs. Would highly recommend this as part of your essential North Wales experience.
JoeD21 — Google review
I went here three times in 2 days 😄 I went up walking early in the morning, drove with a car, and via Orme tramway. They offered different experience and has its own charm but I enjoyed them all! The day I went there at afternoon was extremely windy so better prepared with a windbreaker. Overall, the scenery from the top of Orme was wonderful. From the top you can explore different spots or even only sitting enjoying the day.
Nisa K — Google review
The mine tours are quite pricy but well worth it as it's self guided so you can make your way around at your own pace. There's a tram up to the mine from the town so it's wise to park in the town and take the tram up the hill if you don't mind paying. There are great views at the top of the hill and nice areas to eat or walk at the top. I've been twice and would go again if I was in the area.
Thomas P — Google review
Fantastic viewpoint of the North Wales coast and Anglesey. Some amazing walks plus the ability to ride up and down on a tram or a cable car. You could kid yourself you were in the Alps! There are some easy paths (apart from the gradient 😂) and some difficult paths to get up and down. There's a toll road around the Orme and a decent pub at the bottom by the tram station. Worth a trek.

Great Orme Mines, discovered in 1987, are the world's largest prehistoric copper mines dating back to the Bronze Age, around 4,000 years ago. The site offers a unique insight into ancient Britain and its advanced society long before Roman invasion. With over 5 miles of tunnels to explore using only primitive tools like stones and bones, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of this historical era. The mine features a visitor center and self-guided tunnel tours for an immersive experience.
Great place to visit near halfway station on great omre tramway. Excellent informative friendly staff. Go around visitor centre pick read history about mine and pick up your hard hat. Then venture into bronze age mine entrance go down 35 steps. Throughout tour a number of boards with information about the mine and working conditions. Really unique tour well worth visiting. Able to walk around outdoor area of mine. Gift shop has lots of unique rocks etc.

A fantastic experience. The mines are awesome, so much history! Prehistory really! Bronze age people living in Britain centuries before the Romans. And the whole thing is being run by lovely people. Highly recommended.
Grandad119 — Google review
We visited with our 7 year old son and we all enjoyed it. The staff are fantastic, knowledgeable, and super enthusiastic. The mines have been made accessible for walking but be ready to crouch at a handful of points! Such an important discovery that made my jaw drop open upon reaching the largest part of the mine. Truly incredible to walk in the footsteps of humans from 4,000 years ago! My son was given a fun questionnaire to complete along the walk. At the end he recieved a little gift for completing it. I really loved this and so did he! There are videos on repeat at certain points and they are very clear and easy to understand. You can see how much care has been put into this. The gift shop and 2nd hand book shop is also excellent. There is a mixture of cheaper and more expensive gifts. The drive up and down is rather steep and narrow at points but no problem if you're used to driving on hills. We arrived early and the car park was easy to use. There is also a tram and cable car going up the hill / mountain so they are great options too.
Lee P — Google review
This place is a great attraction, the whole experience was very enjoyable. We visited on a Sunday mid September and it wasn’t overly busy. The staff were really nice, friendly and talkative. The layout from the car park, shop/entrance to the mines is well laid out. When you go into the attraction you get a hard hat and can take your time going through the experience, roughly 40 minutes to an hour but there is no rush. There is lots of history and information about the history of the mines and people that worked there and it that was fascinating to read, there is a short video presentation you can choose to watch which gave more insight into the history. You get to walk round the open quarry site and venture into the mines. It’s a self guided tour/walk and as others have stated and I’ll confirm it is narrow with low ceilings in places, this adds to the experience in a good way (unless you’re claustrophobic). There is lighting in the mine which highlights the natural features, but I would advise a good torch to see into the dark areas not lit, not necessary but again this added to our experience in a good way.

Thought I mightn't be allowed in as t, shorts, sandals but self guided tour so nice to go at your own pace. Quite busy but space to pass families (great kids shouting echo!) a concrete floors, metal steps and railings whilst looking around. Activity sheet for kids, drinks van, shop, lovely interesting few hours. All CCTV, lights also panic buttons, is narrow but I wore my rucksack no issues, mums with babies in there too. Have fun! I bought tickets as walking past

Really good fun for me and my youngest son! Was bricking it a bit going into the tunnel but it was way worth it glad I persevered and kept going! Not that I could have turned back! Great for the kids and adults! Good fun! 👍 Will say it didn't take long to go around! But the weather was shocking. Didn't book in advance but I don't see why I wouldn't in future despite the shocking weather it was busy!

Great place for bronze age history experience. Narrow road to good car park. Excellent explanation on walls before decending into caves. Toilets fine and picnic tables available.

Lived near here most of my life and never been. We had friends over so decided to give it a try and was impressed. It's not massive but very interesting. You do go down some narrow passages though so not for everyone. But gives a great insight to how things were done and how small the places they worked was. Great value for money

Beach
West Shore Beach is a beautiful sandy beach located in a coastal town in north Wales. It is quieter compared to the North Shore Beach, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a more peaceful environment. The beach offers a large expanse of sand that stretches far out to sea during low tide, providing visitors with a gorgeous setting to enjoy.
As a foreigner living in Chester, this is the best place I have found so far within a 1h range. Lovely beach and views. Perfect spot to see the sunset. Llandudno offers short hikking routes great for stretching your legs and have a small taste of nature. Clean spaces everywhere and wonderful locals
Christian C — Google review
Beautiful and picturesque beach with a fantastic chippy nearby, Memos. A well kept beach, walkway and panoramic views across the sea especially around sunset being on the west side.
Ben — Google review
The water stinks and it is dirty. Maybe as it is dog friendly or don't know the reason. Seagulls don't let you eat but the scenery and view is beautiful. Sandy and kids friendbut not clean I would say as the smell is unbearable.
Samina T — Google review
Llandudno has two sides of beaches. This side, the west, has a long stretch of beach with dunes and pebbles. I was told it’s the largest beach here. It’s not developed like the main beach, no promenade or hotels or places to visit. There are just a couple cafes and a chip shop (closed bank holiday!). I last came here 10 years ago and recall it being a large and lovely sandy beach. We arrived today at 1pm and saw only pebbles 😂 however the tide was in (I’m not scientific enough to explain why it was in at this time and not when I came last time, at this time). Anyway, there were patches of sand and gradually the tide went out and behold! The sand! This side is let down by lack of places to eat (the two cafes are expensive). But, then again, that’s its charm too. I’m going to head over to the main beach. The footpath is adorned with benches to sit, there are lots of places to sunbath between the dunes, in the sand but away from sea.

West Shore Beach in Llandudno is a tranquil spot with golden sands, stunning sunsets, and views of Conwy Mountain ,its just 10mins walk from llandudno pier. Quieter than the North Shore, it’s ideal for walks, picnics, and a relaxing escape by the sea
Dr W — Google review
A nice well kept sandy beach. If you want to spend time on the beach by the sea then this is probably the better side of Llandudno to visit as it is sandy.
Cale M — Google review
This beach has to be the most relaxing beaches I’ve visited. Ok, maybe nothing compared to Spain or even Bamburgh, but to us it’s idyllic, I could sit there all day watching the waves roll in. It’s relaxing, charming and picturesque. It’s the first place we come to when we visit Llandudno, a beautiful place in itself. The beaches are spotlessly clean and certainly don’t smell like one reviewer has said, have they never seen seaweed before. I’m amazed with this place and always will. It’s beautiful.

The Cottage Loaf is a charming inn located in the heart of Llandudno, offering a cozy atmosphere and a delightful dining experience. With its rustic wooden beams, crackling open fires, and antique furniture, it embodies the essence of a traditional Welsh country pub. The bar boasts an impressive selection of Cask Marque ales, including house ales and guest ales, as well as cask cider.
This place hasn’t earned its top rating by accident! ⭐ First off, it’s right in the heart of the city — proper central. Then there’s the interior — cosy and rustic, like an old countryside cottage, and the summer terrace is just lovely ☀️🌿 The staff? Super polite and know their stuff. And the food? Absolute flavour bomb! 💥🍽️ The portions aren’t massive, but they’re just right. Plus, the wine and drinks menu is huge — you’ll definitely find something that hits the spot. They’ve got local beers on tap and some banging signature cocktails too 🍷🍸 Prices are totally fair. Highly recommend popping in if you’re about! 🙌

Visited The Cottage Loaf and was really impressed overall. The staff were excellent — friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. The presentation of the dishes was spot on, with a great garnish that really elevated the plate visually and in flavour. I had the steak pie, which was phenomenal in taste — rich, hearty filling with perfectly cooked meat. However, the pastry on the sides was a let-down, being incredibly tough and almost indelible, which took away slightly from an otherwise standout dish. Still, a lovely spot with a warm atmosphere and great service.
Courtney R — Google review
What a gorgeous pub! The decor and vive was great and the staff were so friendly. The food was amazing, I wish I could have tried more if the menu, but the portions were too generous for that. The drinks menu is extensive and varied.
Charlotte “ — Google review
We had a great experience here and would definitely come back! I ordered the lamb shoulder, which was absolutely exquisite. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the gravy was rich and delicious, though I would’ve loved a bit more of it (can never have too much gravy!). The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the red cabbage, it was a bit too sweet and overpowering for my taste. Otherwise, the dish was perfect. My partner had the steak and ale pie, which was packed with meat and full of flavour. The pie crust could’ve used a little more seasoning, and I wasn't too keen on the texture but overall it was a hearty and satisfying dish. The outdoor seating area is lovely, especially for dog owners, dogs are welcome outside and they even have water bowls available, which is a great touch. Just a note: dogs aren’t allowed inside. The staff were friendly, though not especially attentive. It would have been nice to have someone check in on us during the meal. Also, table service rather than ordering at the bar would make the experience feel a bit more welcoming. Despite a few small things, we had an amazing time. Great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Memorable Meal at The Cottage Loaf We had the absolute pleasure of dining at The Cottage Loaf in Llandudno, and from start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. I ordered the braised lamb accompanied by creamy dauphinoise potatoes, tender braised carrots, peas, and green beans—and every bite was bursting with flavour. The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth tender, rich and perfectly seasoned, while the vegetables were fresh, vibrant, and beautifully cooked. For dessert, I opted for the apple pie with custard, and my wife Kath had the same but served with vanilla ice cream. Both were absolutely divine—homemade, warm, and comforting. A perfect ending to a flawless meal. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, and the service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We left feeling full, happy, and already planning our next visit. If you're in Llandudno, The Cottage Loaf is a must-visit—fantastic food, great ambiance, and truly memorable dining. Highly recommended!
STEVEN A — Google review
Big pub, front out door seating area, back of the pub also has seating area. Big inside. Dogs are not allowed inside but are in both outdoor seating areas. The outside seating at the back, isn't big and the tables are big, most people who sit here, are twos. We tried a variety of starters and nibbles, as we didn't want to a full meal. Food was edible, but lacked flavour and taste, I prefer the Abode for the nibbles and starters selection. Other food on the menu is nice and good. Can be expensive for what it is. Great place to chill, relax and enjoy the sun. Only down fall is, no table service. If you're on your own with a dog, you'd not be able to go inside to order due to no dogs (I did ask this question and it was a no). Apart from that, it's a good place to go.

Really good food for late lunch today (30 Mar) and lovely staff! Kids meal is really generous, especially the pudding size after! Adult portion of chocolate fudge cake for dessert in the kids set menu! The kids eyes were huge when they saw it 🤣 Only had the honey ham salad which was delicious. Menu had so much choice so will definitely have to come back to try more.

Lovely spot to have a bite. The servers were busy but attentive. The food was just ok. We had the slat and pepper quid which were fab, served with a sweet chilli sauce, which we felt was wrongly paired, maybe an aioli instead. Hubby had fish and chips and I had the Sea bass on the daily specials menu. His fish was done nicely with ample batter and nice chips. My sea bass was on the small side, just plainly seasoned with salt and pepper. Prices were about right for the area, but nothing special in my opinion. Hope your meals were awesome.

It was a bit price for simple food, super tasty and comforting, welcomed very quickly and drinks arrived straight away. Apparently no one eats there’s under 65 years old, nothing wrong with that but just have in mind that.

Their curry chicken was really good. I liked their thick fries and baked potatoes, which were not salty (a big plus). The chicken Caesar salad was outstanding, and the croutons were freshly made. For the beef lasagna, the garlic bread was the highlight (since I’m a bread lover). The grilled seabass wasn’t bad either.

If you are looking for a decent fried English breakfast, that's the place to visit. We decided to have a full English and a full Veggie. The hashbrowns were crunchy and yet soft inside and my veggie sausages were cooked to perfection. I usually get veggie sausages so dry that I can hardly cut it. The service was excellent and the place is nice and spacious.

Great dining environment and friendly services. Food was excellent and reasonably priced, we loved their seafood mussels and seafood pasta. Their beef dripping chips were amazing, crispy outside and fluffy inside!

Visited tempted by the selection of vegetarian options which sounded a bit different than elsewhere. Unfortunately they were a bit underwhelming. The Poke Bowl was a big rip-off costing almost £18; was expecting a big portion with lots of tasty toppings, and in reality it was a very small heap of rice with toppings many of which lacked in flavour, only real source of protein was a handful of edamame beans… The rarebit pizza was nice enough but seemed to be made from a parbaked crust with very wet pizza sauce. Overall had higher expectations considering the price tag.

It was very quiet when we went for a sharing brunch. Due to being early and in Nov. However service was great and food lovely. The location is superb with lovely views of the sea and in a wonderful building. Only gave three stars for atmosphere as we the only ones there so of course that impacts it.

We popped in looking for some food and even though we weren’t hotel guests, they had no trouble accommodating us. The service was quick. My partner ordered a hamburger - it wasn’t exquisite, but it was OK. I had the Thai curry, which was delicious, though quite spicy. Overall I’d recommend this place as the food overall was good and reasonably priced. They also have a separate dog friendly area which is great.

We ate at the Conwy location and absolutely loved it! The mixed salad and mackerel starter were perfect. My husband had the hake, and I had the seafood stew — honestly, the best I’ve ever had. Second time visiting here and it didn't disappoint. Awesome service, even on a busy Sunday night. We sat outside as we had dogs with us. I had the meaty pizza which came with chicken, ham (thick ham not cheap skinny pieces), pepperoni, red peppers and spring onions (also comes with jalapeños but i asked could they omit them as I don't like them). Pizza was awesome as always. Tasted amazing. All made fresh. Will definitely try again when I'm back in Lladudno.

For someone with allergies I had the best service & one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. The owner gave me a list of what I couldn’t have considering my allergies and even cleaned the oven out before doing my pizza, some great service I have never gotten elsewhere. That aside, the pizza tasted perfect, not too spicy, not too overwhelmingly cheesy or anything and packed with flavour.

Pizza was great. The “super spicy” option is Tabasco sauce though - not to everyone’s taste for the type of spice.

The pizza was delicious, I had the ham and pineapple. Due to allergies I had the vegan cheese alternative. Husband had the meat pizza . I would recommend that the website is updated as the prices have changed and it also says no extra charge for the cheese alternative but I was charged £1.50 for the vegan cheese.

Highly recommend The Loaf, if you can get in, as it tends to be very busy due to its very good food and excellent service. When you walk in, you're made to feel very welcome. The staff are very nice and attentive but never pushy. It has a very nice, relaxed and intimate atmosphere with a little background music, which is never intrusive. The food is excellent and plenty of it too, from cooked breakfasts to their delicious, thick and creamy porridge, served with syrup and strawberries, a great way to start the day and all at very decent prices. Again, highly recommended.........And their homemade scones with jam & cream are quite superb.

A brilliant independent local cafe serving a selection of hot and cold food and variety of hot and cold drinks. The place is decorated nicely, the service friendly and most importantly the food I ate was delicious, hot and fresh. I had a full breakfast, it was worth the £9.70 and the bacon was nice and thick, 2 sausage along with hash browns with a choice of granary or white bread. It's on a row of shops that are all cafes but I highly recommend you try this as I know it's good plus it's a 2 Mon walk to the orme and pier.

We were driving to Anglesey and stopped by Llandudno for lunch and to catch the promenade. The Loaf was on the way and had great reviews. We had pretty good choice to start (flat whites and an Americano) then shared a beef pie, a Welsh Rarebit (with bacon and garlic mushrooms) and a quiche. As well as a scone. The food was excellent! The beef pie, in particular, was memorable for the tender beef and beautiful crust. The Rarebit was also very good, esp. with the bacon (tasty and not salty) and the mushrooms. We'll definitely come back of we're in the area again.

What a gem this cafe is....if we lived here, it would be our regular go to spot! Just charming from the warm and friendly welcome, adorable decor and the delicious food served. We had the ham/cheese quiche, sausage & Welsh rarebit, the Belgian waffle & ice cream and the Bara Brith for dessert. All was PERFECT! Well done The Loaf... thank you for such an amazing visit! Only downfall.... they ran out of scones! Just means we have to come back!

Stopped in for a light bite and a drink on a scorching hot day whilst visiting Llandudno. We stumbled across The Loaf and bagged a table outside but in the shade. We decided on something sweet; a scone with cream and jam, and a slice of Victoria sponge cake. We also got tap waters and cold cans of fizz to keep us hydrated. The service was brilliant and the waitress was super polite. The Victoria sponge was possibly the best we’ve EVER had. So light and fluffy and delicious. The scone was warm, fresh and delightful. A perfect spot to rest and recharge, and next time we are in Llandudno, we will come again!

I only had one meal while in Llandudno for a day trip, but I’m glad it was here. The fish and chips and seafood curry dishes were great. Had a good selection of drinks, and the vibes were nice and cozy. Servers were quick and friendly as well. We walked in on a weekend around noon and were able to snag a spot inside; there’s two outside areas, both of which looked nice but it was too windy that day.

Great brunch/lunch place with lots of homemade fares in the heart of Llandudno. We especially loved the Welsh Rarebit served piled high on a thick toast. Yummy! The homemade quiche was good too - just a tab small in portion. The steak pie came piping hot with lots of beef chunks and a nice crust. And the homemade Bara Brith for dessert. It felt like Christmas came early 😊
