One of the best activity we did during the trip. Ok... it’s a lot like any chairlift in a ski resort but the fact that you’re in a kind of garbage can facing Lake Maggiore brings it up a notch!! If you’re afraid of heights you might want to rethink your plans because the ride takes about 20 minutes. It’s very steep and some people will not enjoy it. For all the others that enjoy a bit of spark in their life this is for you!! On top of the ride, you can enjoy a magnificent view when you reach the top. You can have a beer at the restaurant and have one of the nicest view you will ever get.
This is without doubt the longest cable car ride I have taken. As the buckets only hold two people and some are enclosed which nobody wanted to use as it was very warm it took 20 minutes to get on the ride. I did not time the ride but it must be a least 15 minutes and takes you nearly to the top of the mountain. Views of the lake were spectacular and the was a nice cafe at the top where we had a lunch of toasted paninis and drinks. We were based in Stresa and caught the ferry to Intra and then caught the car ferry across to Laveno ( which runs every 20minutes). The staff were very helpful and slowed the bucket when it was at the top making getting off and on very easy. A fun day out.
The views are world-class, and the lift itself is quite unique compared to others I've seen. Can't say much about the restaurants since I didn't try them, but judging by the prices I saw, the mountains weren't the only thing that was high. Cons: Long queues in the full sun before the ticket counter - some kind of shade would be a welcome addition. Only one ticket counter open. No separate entrance for those who purchased tickets online.
Incredibly beautiful views from the high Alps north of Lake Maggiore to the southern end, on nice clear days the skyline of Milan can also be seen.
Food is INCREDIBLY expensive and our waiter wasnt friendly. The only thing nice here is the view. We also had to wait nearly 30 minutes in the line to leave.
Amazing view! The taste ist also fantastic! Price is a little high, but the portion is really huge, I don’t need dinner for tonight 😂 the the view, taste and huge portion, it absolutely deserves the price ☺️
Food and drink very expensive at the “snack bar” with a very very poor choice. (NOT the restaurant)) Staff were exceptionally miserable and didn’t care. Yes, I’d ride the cable car again, it I would certainly just take my own food and drink next time. Staff need a lesson in customer service.
We were on a school trip here. We spent a couple of hours walking up the mountain, rhe path itself was easy to find and follow. All in all a nice trip

A nice way to explore areas around Lago Maggiore using train & ferry.. Definitely worth it!!
Veeery strange way to aquire a ticket for just the train from Locarno to Domodossola. Either 20eu pp on the website, to 23,50chf pp, whatever "half fare" means at the ticket machine in station. To 47chf pp "full fare". To 141chf in total for 3 adults just going ONE WAY. To 89chf in total at the station register. What, the, actual, f. I hope the scenery is at least worth it.. But what a stress..
A great way to experience local transport as well as have amazing views of mountains and the Lake at a reasonable cost
Highly recommend visiting this area and take the boat ferries to visit the various towns.
Great way to be on the water and to see the islands and the land.
Ok, not sure if really worth the time

The staffs are very friendly and helpful. This museum has a beautiful view to the lake and there are variety of ceramic collection. But the road which is from the station to the museum is for car only. Walking on thay road is a bit dangerous.
Lovely experience in this ceramics museum. The young lady that greets you had so much information for us and was so patient, I really loved her dedication. Even though it was closing hour, she waited for us to finish and even let us see the gardens. I am passionate for ceramics, so I can never have enough of the styles and patterns that exist out there, especially in Italy. The temporary exhibition was also unique and very modern in my opinion. I wish I could have found more things to take as souvenir back home. Go see it!
Very nice place along the lake

Amazing old church, really nice to visit
(Translated by Google) It is the oldest place of worship in the municipality, already mentioned in a document from 846. (Translated by Google) It is the oldest place of worship in the municipality, already mentioned in a document from 846. The central body has an archaic layout with a gabled façade, a single nave and a triumphal arch dividing the presbytery; Romanesque bell tower from the 11th century. Frescoes from the 16th century in the apse basin. Originally dedicated to saints Nazaro and Celsus. The ancient Romanesque building has been profoundly transformed. The gabled facade, where there is a niche with remains of a fresco depicting San Defendente, has been entirely plastered and flanked by a mortuary chapel, the openings are all modern. The southern side of the church preserves the rustic walls without decorations built with different materials drowned in mortar and with a low but sturdy buttress and two large restored windows and a door. The northern side, also with a rustic wall and without ornaments, has only one window in the presbytery. The apse is small in size and completely devoid of decorations and openings, characteristics that testify to its archaism. The bell tower has a smooth and well-finished barrel with more regular stones arranged to reinforce the corners, has a roof in gneiss slabs and is crowned with an unusual lantern. The western side has an entrance with a round arch at the base, leading up there are two narrow slits and a mullioned window with a small column on a tuff crutch capital. Only on the southern side is there a mirror at the bottom opened by a narrow slit and crowned by two slender arches resting on a simple pointed shelf. These characteristics allow its construction to be attributed to the 11th century and associate it with the nearby bell tower of the church of Santi Primo e Feliciano in Leggiuno. The interior, rebuilt in later periods, has two spans covered by vaults. It seems that Cardinal Federico Borromeo had a witch burned in the square in front of the church in the seventeenth century. It is said that one day a year, for this reason, the lawn in the square turns red.

Lovely location for lunch. We had risotto and shared the fritto. The food was excellent. Our dog was welcome and enjoyed the food too😄
Great restaurant - with incredible views of the lake! All our dishes were so tasty and had lots of flavour. Loved the steamed mussels, so simple but so delicious. Staff were also great and friendly.
We visited the restaurant for dinner a week ago, during our stay on Lago Maggiore. The day before we had passed by during the day and we liked the atmosphere and the view of the lake. Unfortunately, however, our expectations for a pleasant evening were not met. The starters and the two main fish portions were not flavoured at all, the duck breast was tough, the ribeye steak was ok. Our biggest disappointment was at the end, when they included in our bill two additional main courses that we had not ordered at all, i.e. they overcharged us €40. My advice is - do not have high expectations on the food and be careful when paying the bill.
The waiters were really nice and the food was delicious. Best tiramisu and nutty chocolate cake we've ever tasted!
Many empty tables. We were asked to wait for thirty minutes. We were told we cannot reserve. We had an aperitif to bridge the time. Then, even though seven two-person tables in the restaurant were empty for the time we were here — they kept telling us no. We were talking Italian. I don't understand what they want, but obviously not paying customers. Very weird service that doesn't care about people who are literally sitting there at a table outside staring at empty tables inside. It's really absurd, but unfortunately consistent with the other bad reviews this place has got.
Great location, good food and very nice people
Unfortunately, the service was awful during our visit. I tried to book a table and even asked for one directly, but despite seeing several empty tables, they never let me book or be seated. There was no explanation—despite the place being visibly empty and new people arriving. I would understand if the restaurant were full, or if all the tables were reserved, but the staff simply chose to ignore us. To make matters worse, for some reason I can’t understand, they don’t serve food outside either. A complete waste of time.
Unfortunately, our experience at your restaurant was disappointing. The steak I ordered was cold and tasteless. We also ordered spaghetti for my daughter, but they turned out to be spicy, even though we specifically asked for the dish to be mild. During our meal, we were constantly bothered by flies, which significantly spoiled our experience. Additionally, we wanted to sit at a table closer to the lake, which was free, but we were told it was reserved. However, during our entire time there, no one sat at that table. I sincerely hope the restaurant will address these issues.

A short hike from the village of Casere with a wooded section which leads into a steep and rocky climb to the top. At the top(1018m) you get great views of Lake Maggiore and across to Varese lake and Campo dei Fiori. You can continue along the top all the way over to Monte Nudo which is around 1200m high , it's a really cool walk that runs across the crest with lots of wooded parts and also more rocky climbs. There is also a nice bar in Casere that you can call in after if you decide to do the full tour. Definitely recommend if your local to the area or just visiting.

One of the newer ones is impressive, the church of Sant'Ambrogio, also known as the "new church", which was built between 1933 and 1940 based on a Greek cross. As in the life of a real person, even during holidays there comes a time for reflection, so God uses human hands to create places where time stops and we can simply be close to heaven. I recommend it not only for religious purposes but also because of the very interesting panorama from the church square.

(Translated by Google) Church of the Immaculate Conception Built between 1722 and 1733 as an ex-voto by Ferdinando Tinelli. It was used as a lazaretto in 1836, during a cholera epidemic, and in 1881 (smallpox). The octagonal dome and the small triangular bell tower are beautiful. The painting of the Pregnant Madonna, above the altar, and the crucifix with chains which, it is said, those condemned to death kissed before execution are curious.

Very nice Location, especially the garden where you can eat outside. Nice owners.
A great base within walking distance of Stresa and Lake Maggiore. A car is advised if exploring further afield. Glorious grounds and pool. The villa has massive rooms but not much going on within them. There is no real view of the lake but still a splendid outlook. Breakfast felt a bit lacking as could have provided a few more options beyond store-bought croissants, toast and fruit salad. Overall though very pleasant stay for a few days and would recommend.

If you get the opportunity to be in the Lago Maggorie area an hour north of Milano I would recommend that you visit the lake side town of Laveno and take a stroll along Lungolago. You can reach Laveno by car, train from Milano or ferry boat. If you drive you can park behind the train station on the lake (near the playground or volleyball court) as you walk towards the lake you will see the beginning of the walking path (Lungolago). If you follow the path past the ferry stop toward the church you will pass many nice little shops to grab a gelato, espresso, pastries, art galleries appetizers and many great restaurants. (See my other reviews). You can even rent a motor boat for a few hours to see the lake. The town recently restored a portion of Lungolago making it a very lovely place to take a walk, take pictures and grab something to eat and drink. If you are anywhere near the area, I really encourage you to visit Laveno and enjoy a walk along Lungolago.
Beautiful place! Very quiet
Worth having a look and spending a day. Losing among small restaurants and stunning view of the Lake.
(Translated by Google) We went on August 15th to see the fireworks. It's a wonderful place, with limited parking, and you have to get there very early in the morning to park. The sunset view is breathtaking, beautiful! I recommend it to everyone, except on August 15th because it was incredibly crowded. It takes an hour to get out of town after the fireworks.

(Translated by Google) Pleasant walk in all seasons, with wonderful views. It is always well maintained and you can find several bars/ice cream parlors and restaurants overlooking the lake. The car park is attached to the lake and next to the station. To fully enjoy the lake I recommend taking the ferry and continuing the walk to Intra. È sempre ben tenuta e si possono trovare diversi bar/gelaterie e ristoranti vista lago.
