There was more to Lewes Castle than I thought. you buy tickets in the museum and gift shop building , then a member of staff lets you into the castle it's self. There is quite a lot of stairs, so bare this in mind if you have mobility issues. once you've made the climb, there is a lot of information on the castles history. The view from the top is memorable.
I had no idea there was even a castle at Lewes! Free to all today and I believe this weekend. Magnificent views of Lewes today from the top of the castle. The museum has a truly amazing model village where you watch a video about the history of Lewes. Somebody very talented put so much detail into it. Well worth a visit.
One of the oldest castles in England. 🇬🇧 🏰 The castle was built soon after the Norman Conquest by William de Warren, one of William II the Conqueror's closest allies at the Battle of Hastings.👊 Begun around 1069, it is the second Norman castle in Sussex after Hastings Castle, chosen for its imposing ridge overlooking the River Ouse and the road to London.🙆‍♂️ Its twin hills and flint walls still dominate the landscape almost a thousand years later, a reminder of how quickly England has changed since 1066.🤷 Every time I visit a castle, I find it extremely interesting.🤌
The admission includes access to the gatehouse and stairs leading to the tower overlooking Lewes. The views from both are impressive! The onsite museum though small has a short but informative video about the history of Lewes. We booked with a combo ticket for the Anne of Cleves house, too.
My first visit to Lewes, ostensibly to visit the Anne of Cleves House, but there's a joint ticket available to also visit the castle and I'm glad we did. It was fascinating, well presented and the interpretive material was excellent. The views from the tower are well worth the climb, highly recommended.
Really enjoyable place to visit. So much history to soak up. My only gripe is that, in my efforts to fully immerse myself in the period, wearing chainmail and full armour made the ascent to the top of the castle painstakingly slow. Why oh why when they built it didn't they have the forethought to put in either an escalator or starlift? Apart from this observation, it really was fantastic. The museum was child friendly so I learnt a lot.
Lovely place. Not much left to the castle but a supporting museum, with lots of info. about the castle and the town of Lewes. You can climb to the top of both mottes. Cracking views of Lewes and the South Downs from the top! Nice gardens, staff, and a good price. Upgrade to an annual pass when you use Gift Aid.
Great bit of history here. Well presented and informative. The ladies selling the tickets were also very helpful and spent time giving us a history lesson before we started. Well worth the entry fee charged.

Brilliant experience. The house is beautiful and absolutely fascinating. We visited on a cold January day and spent a good hour and a half there, exploring each room of the house and learning about the lives of the Bloomsbury Group. There are volunteers in each room who are very friendly and happy to answer any questions - they had a wealth of knowledge and really brought the house to life. Highly recommended.
No words for how cool the house and gardens are. If you are interested in interiors, gardens, design, art, and/or the Bloomsbury Group, it is so worth a pilgrimage. Paired gorgeously with a visit to Monks House.
What a captivating history awaits you at this wonderful living work of art! I adored walking around this house, learning from the docents who are placed in each room, ready to tell you about any detail that piques your interest. There is a brilliant app that offers insights into each room. Understandably you’re not allowed to play the audio tour aloud, and I didn’t have headphones, so I focused on being present in the space and interacting with the knowledgeable volunteers. Once I made it to the large cafe, I was able to find a quiet corner and listen to the tour while my memory of each room was still fresh. I was transported to the era of the home being alive with artists and writers. It was a safe haven for we would now call queer and poly relationships, “unconventional” marriages, where everyone got to be free to focus on their pleasure and their art. Take the time to walk around the grounds, which is described as “a painter’s garden…exuberant and not intended to be tasteful or restrained.” There is even a little scavenger hunt to do of the various statues you can find hiding among the shrubbery. I hope to come back here to soak up the atmosphere again. For maximum enjoyment, bring your headphones and use your imagination!
Superb!! Everyone should go. Inspiring for any creatives and fascinating history of the Bloomsbury set. Lovely cafe and shop. Beautiful countryside and the garden was lovely even in autumn. English creativity and eccentricity at its best.a very generous experience - soul enriching!
Finally returned after more than 30 years. Great to visit once again and more to see with the new galleries and nice cafe.
The new galleries are brilliant. We saw the post-impressionist exhibition and had coffee in the café garden. Great on a summer's day. The nearby garden is wonderful.
Charleston Farmhouse is such a lovely place steeped in history and art. It was such a magical visit - highly, highly recommended!
Lovely house and walled garden with a fine array of different plants and flowers.

We had the best time at Middle farm, great children's play area and small selection of farm yard animals. We would take a picnic next time as there is a lovely space to get out ypur picnic bits and space for the kids to run around (freedom), there are a few benches but not many. Hay barn was the biggest hit for my 6 Yr old and I thought it was pretty epic too. We will definitely visit again. The cafe was nice and the wholefood shop and plant area was a real treat.
Had a great time with my Grandaughter... Slightly confusing and a animals were quite sparse, although lots of chickens!! However, we enjoyed the afternoon out with cake. The staff were lovely!!
We had an amazing visit – a perfect day out for both kids and adults. Each group receives animal feed with their entry, which makes the experience even more interactive. There’s plenty of parking, and the itinerary is well thought out, from petting guinea pigs to feeding the sheep. The courtyard is especially charming, with a lovely cider shop and café. While the café is a little on the pricier side, the quality makes it worthwhile. I’ll definitely be going back!
Went camping at Roundhill by Woodfire. Visited Middle Farm daily for a) incredible beer & cider collection, b) brilliant petting zoo & playground, c) fabulous Farm shop, and d) cake from the tea room! It was so popular Bank Holiday Monday was a struggle for food orders, but otherwise faultless. Super friendly and helpful staff
The last time I went to this farm was 8 years ago when I was visiting the UK, so it was a must stop on this trip. So glad that it was just as good an experience as last time, if not better! There was a big bouncy castle assault course that the kids LOVED, and they enjoyed the different "meet the animals" events throughout the day. The animals are all so gentle and sweet, and very obviously well taken care of. They even got to see a donkey getting his hooves trimmed! It was a perfect experience. I'm also glad we went early at opening time to have breakfast. The cream tea did not disappoint!
Great farm. The Grandchildren loved it☺️ Even got to feed the pigs! Park areas for all ages! Toilets were clean and the staff were friendly!
A gem of a place, not too over commercialised, feels very authentic. Enjoyed the Halloween theme and kids loved the hay barn and fantastic face painting! Can’t wait to return again!
Hello everyone. lunch at the tearooms were very nice and tasty. Sweet potato and chilli soup was excellent very nice.

A unique experience which makes you feel incredibly lucky and special. It isn’t cheap (to say the least) but it is wonderful from start to finish! We went the whole hog and dressed up in formal attire which made the whole day seem really special (most people did the same). We were lucky to be with friends who bought afternoon tea and dinner during the (90 minute) interval which just added to the occasion! If you have an opportunity to go the. I would encourage you to go for it if at all possible.
It is somewhat weather dependent, but if you are fortunate to have warm dry weather then a visit to the opera at Glyndebourne is a very special experience. The gardens are beautiful, take an indulgent picnic to enjoy and you will have a memorable time even if you are not a real opera fan.
5 stars for use as an under-30, getting cheap (for opera) tickets in the middle of the stalls. Great production with fantastic vocalists and musicians. The house and grounds are of course lovely, and made better when you bring your own food and drink and relax with friends. Certainly something to experience at least once!
World famous opera house ona. Private estate. Prides it's sellf on its picnic intervals. Producing some of Europe's greatest opera productions
An Absolute Masterpiece: Five Stars for GlyndebourneGlyndebourne isn't just an opera festival; it's a sublime, start-to-finish cultural pilgrimage that truly is the top place to visit for opera lovers. From the moment you step off the train or drive onto the beautiful Sussex estate, you are transported into an occasion that is as meticulously curated as the art on stage. This is a five-star experience in every sense of the word. The heart of Glyndebourne is, of course, the music, and the artistic standard remains unparalleled. The recent production of [Insert Opera Name Here, Falstaff was nothing short of brilliant. The London Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Robin Ticciati played with breathtaking clarity and vitality, making the score feel utterly fresh. The vocal performances were equally stellar; the ensemble work, in particular, was electric and the principal singers delivered acting and singing of the highest international caliber. But what truly sets Glyndebourne apart is the famous 90-minute dinner interval. This glorious tradition transforms the evening into an event. Whether you're enjoying a formal meal in the restaurant or joining the joyful bustle of picnickers on the immaculate lawns, the sense of elegance and community is infectious. Watching the sunset while sipping champagne before returning for the final act adds a magical, quintessentially British layer to the entire experience. The grounds themselves are stunning, offering gorgeous gardens and rolling views. Every detail, from the impeccable service to the acoustically perfect auditorium, reinforces the feeling that you are experiencing something truly special. For those who love opera, or even those looking for a perfect, unforgettable day out, Glyndebourne is an absolute must-visit. Go. Book your tickets, pack your tuxedo or gown, and prepare for an evening of pure, five-star cultural delight.
What a wonderful afternoon at stunning Glyndebourne. A superb production of Kat’a Kabanova, by Janacek, moving, terrific lighting and staging, marvellous direction, acting and singing! Go see this - it’s a real treat. Thank you Glyndebourne.
An excellent summer opera experience. To picnic and black tie for this festival is always a great experience!
Excellent But the restricted view seats for the latest production are not restricted view! They are zero view for key parts of the action! This needs to be addressed!

What a wonderful place. The house has been kept very much untouched for the most part. There is plenty to read and learn. The staff was very enthusiastic and pleasant. They did ask if I was interested in a combination ticket with Lewes Castle too. I had just been to Lewes Castle where they did not tell me about this option. The little tea room in the house too was lovely
Great museum that is really a preserved house of historic importance. Obviously run by volunteers who care for this house and have the passion and dedication to back it up! It was inexpensive to get in and definitely worth it. The place veritably reeks of history and each of the rooms tell their own story involved with the life and times of Anne of Cleves, who we learn, might not have been Henry VIII's type, but did survive her marriage and became a friend to the King later on in life! There is a cafe on site but it was shut on the day we visited. However, the helpful staff directed us to a nearby garden cafe where we could enjoy our tea and cakes in the sunshine and reflect on our visit to this most beautiful of 'semi-hidden' historical wonders. Worth a visit anytime.
This house is larger than you think from the front. Personally I thought the rear was more stunning. An incredible building with an interesting history. 22 people lived the house at one point although it was divided into three and had a shop! The cafe has a lovely garden area to sit out. Delicious carrot and orange cake available today. A fabulous tapestry is on display, it had a Japanese/Asian style. It was free to enter today and I believe this to be the case this weekend!
We visited this with the Lewes Castle combo ticket. Not a large site BUT very informative and well done. Recommended to include there is an adjacent cafe as well.
Well presented Tudor house, although I had not appreciated that Anne of Cleves hadn't actually lived in the house. Nonetheless, it was worth seeing, and the cafe was excellent.
A bit of a letdown. House has been cleared and doesn't show what it really would have looked like. The gardens are manicured and don't have any vegetables growing. How this is supposed to represent where 22 people lived when Anne rented the place out, is beyond me.
Lovely building with very informative signage. The history of the house itself, its structural changes, ownership etc was very interesting. The garden is fairly small but had a beautiful grape vine, medlar tree and quince bushes. Relaxing atmosphere. Well worth a visit
You can see about 4 rooms of Anne of Cleves 15th century house (though note she probably never lived here). There are quite a few stairs, and it’s a bit of an odd layout. However, there are interesting items and signs about the house’s history, architectural style, and items from the time period. Tickets: They offer a combined ticket with Lewes Castle, and if you gift aid your ticket it is good for the year. Facilities: They have a small shop, clean toilets, and a cafe (though we did not visit these)

Spent a lovely couple of hours here, very clean facilities including a cafe. All staff were very friendly and this was a disability friendly place to visit. The paths are gravel, but I had minimal difficulty with a walker/rollator. Other people were pushing buggies. There was a lot to do for children, I went for the farm animals as an adult but was still warmly welcomed by the staff and given the opportunity to stroke some of them in the small animal barn. The animals seem well cared for, and used to visitors but they have places they can go to get away from people! Food is available to buy to feed the goats, pigs sheep etc or the birds.
Our first time here! Its amazing we had the best day. The staff were lovely. We did pet handling, tractor ride, crazy golf, pony riding, indoor soft play, outside huge play areas, loads of picnic areas, the farm was wonderful and clean. All the toilets were clean too. Lovely big cafe, ice cream shop. Lots of talks on, and other activities sooo much to do. 100% reccomend to all.
A very lovely space to walk around and see the beautiful animals they have there. The Tractor ride is not only fun, but it helps your little one see how much fun there is to be had around the farm. Great day or half day out 🙏.
A really excellent farm and fun park for the kids. Our children age 4 and 2 bad a fantastic day and I would say this age group and a little older it is perfect for. Staff were all great and helpful the toilets were nice and clean and drinking water taps available near the main cafe. We spent over 5 overs here as there was a lot to see and do.
Blackberry Farm is an absolute good for families looking for a relaxed and enjoyable day out. One of the first things I noticed upon arriving was how peaceful the place felt – it wasn’t overcrowded at all, which made the entire experience far more enjoyable, especially with kids in tow. The atmosphere is calm and well-organised, allowing you to move around without the stress of queues or congestion. The farm is exceptionally **kids-friendly**, and it is clear that safety is given the highest priority. From the way activities are managed to the layout of the play areas and animal enclosures, everything is thoughtfully arranged to give parents peace of mind while children explore freely. There are **plenty of things to do** to keep the entire family entertained. The opportunities for hands-on animal interaction were a highlight – children can feed the animals at a relaxed pace, which makes the experience feel more personal and memorable. The **pony rides** are especially well-run and were a big hit with the younger children. Another standout activity was the **bin ride**, which turned out to be much more fun than we anticipated – simple, but thoroughly enjoyable for kids and adults alike. The onsite **food options were excellent**, offering fresh and tasty meals that catered to both adults and children. Only worry is the prices are quite high. In summary, Blackberry Farm delivers a perfect family day out with a combination of fun activities, friendly animals, and a safe, welcoming environment. Despite being a little expensive, the quality and enjoyment make it worthy of a **five-star rating**. Highly recommended for anyone visiting with children
Me and my disabled son loved visiting this place the staff were so understanding, we enjoyed seeing the pigs, alpacas, baby goats and horses there outside play area was amazing there was so much for my little boy to do and he was so happy .. they also have a soft play but we were unable to visit it as my son got really tired and overwhelmed due to his mobility condition x
Blackberry farm is an amazing place. Something there for everyone no matter what your age. The animals a beautifully looked after, the facilities are all well maintained, the play zones offer something for all ages, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Could not recommend this enough!! 😊
My sister is wheelchair bound, so we expect to have a unique experience compared to the 99.9 % of the people paying to be here. BUT………by goodness sake , if you have 10plus disabled car parking spaces, you are expecting wheelchairs????!!! …………so why do you have rough stone paths that are nearly impossible to push a wheelchair around!!!!! Please can YOU sit in a wheelchair and be pushed around the whole site!!! Please……………. Then you can see what it’s like.after this humbling experience maybe you can pay for a disability appropriate route around the animal enclosures, including the small animal barn where the fences are too high for wheelchair users to see over!! P.s with only one queuing line for people waiting to get in WHY IS THERE NO EXIT PATH OUT…….. you CANNOT push a disabled person through a 3foot wide path blocked with 40 people aged 2 and above!!!!! So I decided to open a small gate, through a back yard area……… which eventually led to the carpark!!!!!!!maybe the guy who was in the car park who questioned us about what we were up to needs to get a few lessons in how to listen to the customer feedback!!!!! So in short DONT BRING A WHEELCHAIR USER IF THEY HAVE A BAD BACK CONDITION!!!😥

Lovely garden, we spent some time walking around here and taking photos. A lot of squirrels came up to us and were happy to pose for us. There were benches and places to do a little picnic as well, and we managed to pick up a Geocache!
The most peaceful park where one can enjoy a coffee and a pastry in a lovely green space. The flowers and the birds are gorgeous in this public garden.
Very enjoyable gardens to wander road. Well used, lots of groups of all ages picnicking. Ice cream from kiosk was very nice. There are toilets as well. Access from the gardens into Sussex Guild, there are some very beautiful items in there, jewellery, pottery, woodwork, cards and textiles etc.
It’s Great wandering round the gardens, a real hidden gem. It was packed full of spring colours today.
Attractive gardens with well maintained flowerbeds, ornate walls and a fast flowing waterway running through the centre during winter. Vibrant floral borders in the spring and summer months. Lovely spot for a short walk or to take a few minutes break from the bustle of town.
This place is seriously a beautiful and peaceful, perfect for morning or evening stroll. There are plenty of beautiful and different kinds of flowers to soothe your eyes and soul. I hardly hear any noise and disturbance, one can do yoga and meditate over here. It's quite close to train station and bus station as well. I have been there many time and always enjoyed my walk to the beautiful Serene enchanting place.
Lovely gardens, sculptures and events. However, the ice cream parlour closed, while still having a queue of customers on an event evening last Saturday, turning us all away, instead of serving the last few in the queue and then closing 😀
There is always something to see at Southover Grange Gardens from the gardens themselve wit colourful displays and the surrounding areas always kept tidy. Plenty of room for children to play and for picnics or food drink and ice cream from the kiosk. On the day I went we watched a wedding play out on the lawn in front.

Lovely place, especially in the gorgeous weather. It is great that they have a pathway you can walk your dogs along and there are plenty of animals to look at and activities for kids to do on the animal trail. It is free to visit but it is nice to donate to help the animals and the place keep going. (Tip for donating...state that you are a tax payer so they can use gift aid to get more from yhe government). I really enjoyed our afternoon here and was even tempted to adopt an animal.
Free entry but worth a donation they are doing great work helping animals In need. Visited nice and early was quiet. Nice cafe. Great.
Nothing else to say about this place other than TOTALLY AWESOME.... But if you find yourself in East Sussex this place is definitely worth a visit for a few hours walk round their beautiful grounds, see all the animals they care for, take a picnic or eat in their lovely cafe. Buy something nice in their charity shop. Spending here helps support this wonderful establishment.....
We had a great day out in guinea pig day! We explored a lot more than on my last visit. The cafe was really good, worth a visit and we had a really pleasant walk around the grounds. The children loved the play area especially the bunny hop game.
Raystede is a beautifully kept animal sanctuary that offers free entry and parking—a rare and generous touch. The staff are exceptionally kind and welcoming, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The grounds are ideal for peaceful strolls, with calming scenery and well-designed paths. They offer free guided tour and appreciated the picnic and play areas, which make it a great spot for families too. Although I didn’t see many cats or dogs (they were keeping to themselves :) ), the aviary was vibrant and full of character, adding a fun and interactive experience. A wonderful place to unwind while supporting a meaningful cause—highly recommended. P.S. If you want to donate, Gift Aid it to makes a difference.
Very lovely place to visit kids loved it and did not want to leave .so much to see and do .animals well looked after staff very helpfull place clean and tidy highly recommend a visit
What a lovely walk. We really enjoyed the café, lots of great options!🍰 The animals are happy and sweet. We liked the gardens too and the charity shop☝️
This is a working animal welfare centre It is a NOT a zoo, not all the animals are on show but there are enough to satisfy inquisitive little people. There is a proper well laid out free car park which can get very busy. Entry is free but you are asked to pre-book online if you can. Fairly easy walking around the site. I saw mobility scooters in use throughout the site. Dogs are allowed, but there are restrictions in some areas. Nearly everyone you come into contact with are friendly unpaid volunteers. There is usually a guided a tour once a day. The cafe is very pleasant and reasonably priced. When I visited precautions were in place to combat avian flu. This limited the appeal of an otherwise fine aviary. There was also some building work in progress that restricted access to some areas. Overall my visit was very enjoyable. I've been to places that charge entrance fees that are not run as well as this. Donations are welcomed. I should add that a well established pet cremation service is offered by the charity a short distance away. I can personally recommend the fine services of Peaceways.

Had a great day out with the kids. Looks small when you get in but there's easily enough to fill a whole day. Lots of outdoor play areas as well as an indoor soft play area with drop slides. Staff were friendly and helpful too.
A nice place to visit for the day. Enough to keep the kids entertained from bouncy pillow, climbing equipment and sand/water play. Plenty of animals to feed (feed available at entrance) and some inside to see and pet at certain times in the day. The is also inside activities including a small area with ride-on pedal tractors and soft play with 3 slides, one is a drop slide. The food in the cafe/restaurant is reasonably priced with enough choice to make you have a think and the food is also of good quality.
Took my 15 month grandaughter she absolutely loved it. indoor soft play is spacious and well laid out. Slides are great fun even for Grandad!Outside areas are maintained to a high standard. And of course all the animals were great fun to see and pet with a high standard of welfare. it's a small place but lots of fun with events every hour or less.
Took our two grandsons aged 2 years and almost 4 years old today to see Santa. Never been here before and was recommend to make a visit. It was a great day, just the wet weather that kept us inside but the grandsons absolutely enjoyed their fun day. The play barn was really good and it was nice that you could take your own food in there. Hots drinks et.. were a good price and when it was time to see Santa they were so excited. The walk through the grotto was a magical place. just a small wait to be called into see Santa. He was really lovely with the boys and put them at their ease. Must have had well over 5 minutes with him. Then to be able to choose your own gift was fantastic. Well worth the cost. Highly recommend a visit.
Lovely place to visit, a little bit pricey for what is here but would recommend.
Great day out with my wife and Grandson. Staff very friendly and informative. Lots for my 6 year old grandson to do but think the owners are missing out on more return visitors through a lack of more rides. A new ride is always a reason to ask previous visitors back.
We took our 3 year old grand daughter to the santa experience. While it was "nice", There is no way we could honestly say it was worth the entrance fee. Staff were very welcoming, however the Grotto left a lot to the imagination
Lovely day out for little ones to get close to a variety of animals. With some great attractions included. The downside is the cafe is a bit pricey, as is the farm shop and the longstanding building site detracts from what could be such a beautiful spot.

A nice house in beautiful and extensive grounds. We went on a sunny afternoon and it was quite delightful. It was the second time we had visited and I think I enjoyed it more this time. Park down the road and walk up. There are no refreshments at the house but you could take a picnic and then play bowls. Why not!
Small but quaint with beautiful gardens. Very relaxing to sit toverlooking the downs, quintessential English Summer. As a cremacist, I did not like fireplace painted by Vanessa Bell as painting is a different art to ceramics and it lacked technical expertise. Note there was nowhere there or nearby to buy a drink. Staff were very friendly.
Excellent treasure trove just a stones throw from Lewes. We explored the beautiful house and gardens. We were welcomed by lovely Sandra and Yvonne whom informed us on all matters Virginia Wolf. Found out I was more into Vanessa ;) the nearby Church and scenery is stunning! We’ll Definitely be visiting again when it opens in the spring!
Beautifully secluded house and garden with an intimate feel and the nicest, most knowledgeable staff. I enjoyed walking across the downs from Southease Station up to the house and particularly loved seeing the English countywide and the garden at Monk’s House in all the glory of spring. You can easily spend a day here if you take lunch and it’s well worth it.
Loved the visit. My bicycle had had a puncture coming along the river, so was a little late for my entry slot, but the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms on view were beautifully presented. I preferred the decor and furniture to that at Charleston. Perhaps Virginia and Leonard had better taste than her sister. I was a little disappointed that the upstairs rooms weren't on view, especially Leonard's attic study with views onto the downs (apparently). The garden is lovely
Very interesting house and beautiful garden ..you have to book in advance as its small but we'll worth visiting
A beautiful tribute to Virginia Woolf. I was amazed to discover that Virginia actually built a writing studio on the side of this house, in which she wrote “A Room Of One’s Own.” I visited on a rainy day unfortunately, but it would be just lovely to lounge on the lawn in the sun if you get lucky with the weather, and imagine her walking by, lost in thought, muttering to herself. Virginia and Leonard’s ashes are buried here in the garden, by the pond. Be sure to also visit Charleston House, her sister Vanessa’s (larger) property while you’re in the area.
Great place! The gardens are gorgeous and well kept. Volunteers are amazing. I wish the opening hours were longer and they had more Virginia Woolf merch in the tiny, but cozy store. Also, it would be great if we could visit upstairs. In general, a beautiful house with so much art and history in it.

Historic place and enjoyable just to wander. It was founded in the 11th century by monks from Cluny, France, and was known as the Priory of St Pancras. The priory survived until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1537. The main attraction is the ruins with the help of interpretation panels that illustrate how the buildings once looked.
This is a pleasant park on the site of Lewes Priory; one of the places dismantled by Thomas Cromhall on the orders of Henry VIII during the Reformation. There remains quite a large part of the ruins remaining of what was quite an extensivesite and guides have been installed to help get everything in perspective. Not as complete as Lewes Castle but still worth the visit,
Very calming park, great with to visit with the family

Amazing flea market full of vintage treasures. The prices are really good and the quality of the product is also amazing. Always find something I want every time I visit!
Lewes Flea Market is a true gem for those in search of unique and vintage treasures. With an extensive variety of items ranging from antique furniture and retro homeware to vintage clothing and rare collectibles, there’s no shortage of interesting finds. It’s a perfect place for anyone who enjoys hunting for hidden gems. However, the market’s layout could use some improvement. The aisles are narrow, and the stalls are packed quite closely together, which can make moving around a bit tricky, especially when it gets crowded. The sheer number of items on display can also feel overwhelming at times, and it’s easy to get lost in the chaos. A more organized setup would definitely help enhance the experience. All in all, Lewes Flea Market is a must-visit for vintage lovers, but the cluttered and cramped spaces can make it difficult to fully enjoy everything it has to offer. If you're patient and enjoy the thrill of a bit of a challenge, it's worth checking out!
Good for a mooch around, sometimes some nice things appear, but we too many repros and high prices
Lovely place to explore antiques , lot of collection. Would highly recommend.
Surely one of the highlights of any trip to Lewes. If you like bric-a-brac, antiques and curios, plan to spend at least an hour. There's a lot to see!
This place is a hidden gem, really worth a visit.
A huge array of all sorts of antiques, including some very quirky and interesting bits and pieces. Fun to look around and some good finds.
Huge market with plenty of stock. You can find lietreally everything in there from clothes to furniture. It is definitely a must go and sea if you are visiting Lewes. 4 stars only becaue the products were not affordable. I thought I will get some good deals on old stuff but unfortunatelly it is more commercial.

Lovely to swim in an outdoor pool. Unheated but all the better for it. We love a peaceful swim in the sunshine here
Had a great time, the pool was on the chilly side but you soon got used to it, on a really hot day a cold pool would be just what you need I'm sure Food prices were good and lower than expected
Worked here with the LYT crew setting up a stage in the field adjacent to the pool. Had a chance to dip in the pool and it was just what I needed on a hot summers day! The pool is slightly heated so it didn’t feels too cold. Tea was only 1.50 which is a steal, if you’re looking for a place to cool down then stop by the Pool and you will not be disappointed :)
What a fabulous gem in Lewes. We went on a cloudy day so it was quiet but the staff were amazing and helpful, the facilities clean and tidy and the pool was lovely. Not heated as mentioned before but fine at this time of year if you're not a cold water aficionado.
Lovely outdoor lido. Unheated so only suitable for hardcore swimmers or sunny days. Great facilities except there really should be hot showers. Full of old school charm. Lots of sessions available to suit all types.
A lovely discovery on my recent Brompton bike adventure in the South Downs area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed my chilly swim and chill out after! Thanks.
A big well situated pool. A nice grassy area to sit in. Not too busy. Floats available. Nice staff. A toddler pool. Everything you need, including hot drinks available to warm you up.
Nice Lido with everything you'd expect. Looking a little worn around the edges. Could do with a new changing room facilities. But the pool surround and the grass area was pleasant enough.

A very well maintained and glorious Georgian mansion set in beautiful landscape. The tea room serves fresh cut sandwiches and a couple of tasty quiches which, with the salad and s few crisps made an excellent light lunch ( I had cake too). Staff are helpful and efficient. The tea room terrace is a delight.
Patsy was the guide today. What a delightful job she did, telling the story of the family, house & many of its contents in a very engaging way! Firle Place house tour is a very interesting tour of a country house as Patsy said, full of treasures! Also very worth seeing is the Gage family chapel within the ancient church of St Peter’s Firle … a John Piper stained glass window no less!! Set East of the church, a sunny morning makes its colour come brightly alive!
Firle Place opens to the public only on certain days, and my sister and I visited during the garden show in April. We spent a good four hours there and felt it was well worth the visit. Tickets were about £10 each, with an additional cost to enter the Girls Place house. There’s plenty of space for parking, which is free (or rather, included in the ticket price). The event offered lots to see — from beautiful garden furniture to handmade cards. You won’t go hungry either, as there are plenty of refreshment stations with food and alcohol tastings, and you can even purchase items to take home. Families are well catered for too, with activities like egg hunts and a kids’ entertainment area. The venue also hosts weddings, which could be perfect if you’re planning a special day. Overall, it was a lovely outing with lots to enjoy for all ages.
We were lucky to get a private tour with a very knowledgeable guide. Great history, well-kept estate. Tasty treats in the tea room.
I ADORE being at Firle Place and getting the opportunity to flower this gorgeous wedding venue for my couples. There are so many spaces to choose from to create a memorable and heartfelt ceremony, and the Riding School is a blank canvas that couples can truly have fun with and make their own, whilst still keeping the magic the space offers. I’m so excited to be back in 2026 and helping couples put their creative stamp on this gorgeous place! Photographs by Becky Wright Photography
Very nice house...some lovely paintings, small garden & courtyard lots of staff with history facts & a huge tea room. Didn't have lunch but it all looked delicious outside on the terrace.
A beautiful setting , gorgeous garden and lovely stately home. The shop was open on our visit and we sat outside a great place to admire the grounds and views .
Our tour guide, Patsy, was absolutely superb. Great gardens. Wonderful paintings and gorgeous building - plus the sitting room where the judges chat with the hosts on Bake Off The Professionals!
