Abbey built over the centuries inside the rock. The church is unexpectedly rich in marble and colors despite the fact that the facade is quite anonymous. Part of the abbey can be visited with guided tours. The possibility of entering a still active abbey is always an incredible emotion.
Wonderful Benedictine Abbey church. The marble and mosaic works inside are very interesting. You can see the marvelous rocks that the barrocco church is built into. The cloister, ancient chapel and museum are only accessible by guided tour, starting 9 - 12 every hour. The tour guide is friendly and helpful, yet practically runs through the interesting parts of the tour whilst staying unnecessarily long at the less interesting parts. Taking part in the tour and paying the 3€ ticket is well worth it though. The cloister is unlike most others, not being square, and more importantly, being built right under the towering rocks of the mountain. The sight is truly stunning. The ancient chapels are very beautiful with great architectural insights and nice frescos. The museum is the least interesting part of the abbey. In the chapter house, you can see the 18th century terracotta painted flooring, which is quite impressive to see.
Went to see this as part of an unplanned day of touring and this surprised us by how excellent it was. Lovely location in cute village and beautiful church. Very richly decorated and full of history.
This place is miracle. So peaceful and beautiful. Gorgeous cathedral in a rock surrounded by green grounds of natural park.
Great tour. Very worth seeing
The church in this abbey is astounding. The frescos are mind blowing considering one isn't in Rome and considering that the abbey is about 1000 years old. Amazing.

(Translated by Google) The place is very particular, on the outside you can enjoy the image of a historic facade (precisely the ancient seat of the Cavese town hall) entering inside you are catapulted into the modern world with a large structure that gives the idea of an agora with grafts of nature where you can stay with friends to enjoy a sandwich or reserve a solitary corner for a quiet read, enjoying a hot drink. The upper spaces are used for exhibitions. On the second floor there is a small theater room where companies of local and non-local artists offer shows and cultural events that address the most varied themes, both to the local public and to school groups from neighboring cities. Marte Live thus presents itself as a cultural center of the Metellian city, where people can meet to address problems of yesterday and today.

(Translated by Google) Near the Cava dei Tirreni motorway exit, as you take the road that leads to the historic centre, you will find the epitaph to Philip III. The epitaph was erected to commemorate the construction of a bridge over the Secco river, also called Resicco, which flows into the Contropone river, a small river which in turn originates at the slopes of Monte Finestra, descends from Passiano and flows into the Cavaiola. The construction which took place in the year 1609, commissioned by Don Juan Alonso Pimentel de Herrera, count of Benevento and viceroy under the reign of Philip II, was accompanied by the construction of a fountain and a trough. The construction is made up of square blocks of gray stone, ashlar ruins with Doric capitals, triglyphs, with a triangular tympanum and pinnacles with spheres, heraldic shields and large lateral volutes. The fountain and the trough were no longer there in 1700. At the center of the epitaph, under the heraldic shields of Philip II and the Duke of Benevento we read: PHILIPPO III REGENT AD PVBLICUM COMMEANTIVM VSVM ATQ. COMMODI ILL.MUS ET EXCELL.MUS D.IO.ALPH.PIMENTELBENEVENT COMESET DVX PROREGE PONTEM RESICCVM DICTVM ERIGENHDV CVRAVIT ANO DMI MDCVIII UNDER THE REIGN OF PHILIP III, THE VERY ILLUSTRATED AND EXCELLENT JUAN ALONSO PIMENTEL DE HERRERA, COUNT OF BENEVENTE AND VICEROY, IN THE YEAR OF THE LORD 1609 BUILT THE BRIDGE CALLED DEL RESICCO FOR PUBLIC UTILITY AND BENEFIT OF TRAVELERS.

Take a break from the hustle and bustle and walk up to the casket. The walk itself is all uphill, but the views along the way are spectacular! Once you reach the castle, the panoramic views of Cava dei Tirreni and surrounding area are breathtaking! Pack a lunch, stay a while - you'll be glad you did!
(Translated by Google) Leaving the car in Pineta la Serra you quickly approach the castle. Along the route there is an interesting space dedicated to Mamma Lucia, a pious woman who buried many fallen soldiers during the Second World War: whether they were Italian or German, for her they were all her children.
(Translated by Google) It probably would have been nice...But we found it closed! There was no indication at the gate regarding visiting days and times. We called the traffic police who told us that they were only open on Sundays starting from 10.00 a.m.....It was Sunday and the clock showed 10.50!! Having pointed this out, he said he would call us back for more information. We are still waiting.....Bad service!! Siamo ancora in attesa.....Pessimo servizio!!
(Translated by Google) Beautiful place in Cava Dei Tirreni. I can't say anything about the interiors because at the moment they were closed but as regards the external spaces I can say that they are well looked after and equipped for an open air picnic and you can also enjoy a beautiful view on both the gulfs of Salerno and Naples, on Mount Finestra and more, in short, if visited it can give beautiful sensations (Original) Bellissimo posto in quel di Cava Dei Tirreni non so dire nulla sugli interni perché al momento risultavano chiusi ma per quanto riguarda gli spazi esterni posso dire che sono ben curati e attrezzati per un pic.nic all'aria aperta inoltre si gode di una bella vista su entrambi i golfi di Salerno e Napoli, su monte Finestra e altro insomma se visitato sa regalare belle sensazioni
(Translated by Google) Small castle in a strategic place, it dominates the city and the Cava valley, overlooking Nocera, Vesuvius and the Sarno valley on one side while the sea, the gulf, Vietri and Salerno on the other. In front of it rise the iconic peaks of Monte Finestra, Monte Sant'Angelo and Monte San Liberatore. The Castle is called di S. Adiutore because the Holy Bishop, Patron Saint of Cava, retired here. Surprising view of the hill, but the small castle is closed and deserves more care.

(Translated by Google) Pleasant walk with child, clean air and beautiful view (Original) Piacevole passeggiata con bambino, aria pulita e bel panorama
