Ancient temple ruins from 500 BCE on an open site popular for walks & natural scenery.
Slide 1 of 8
If you're anywhere near Paestum and don’t stop to see the Temple of Athena, you’re seriously missing out. Nestled between two larger and more famous temples (Hera and Neptune), this smaller Doric treasure is a gem in its own right, and honestly, a standout for me. Built around 500 BCE, it blends Doric and Ionic elements, showing a transition in architectural style that gives it a unique personality. It's not just a ruin, it's a moment in time, frozen in stone, where you can feel the ambition of early Magna Graecia. The structure is remarkably well-preserved, and walking around it, you get this electric sense of ancient artistry and balance. Even after centuries, its proportions still feel elegant and intentional. What I especially loved was how the Temple of Athena rises slightly on higher ground, almost like she’s still keeping watch. It’s not overrun with tourists (unlike some other famous sites), so you can take your time and soak in the atmosphere. That peaceful weight of history, mixed with warm southern Italian light? Unforgettable. In short: majestic, understated, and totally worth the visit. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or just want a sacred pause in your day, this temple delive
Inside the park so kinda weird that there’s a separate Google listing for each temple when you pay once to visit them all. Plus, how would you rate one temple fewer stars than the others? They’re all over 2,000 years old still standing! I’m struck by how perfectly level and straight the columns and flooring blocks are. Shows fantastic engineering and planning and site prep.
Don't miss Paestum. We arrived just as they closed the gates, but the views from outside the fences were so good we almost didn't go back the next morning. What a mistake that would have been. Upclose access to wellpreserved temples, and acres of tumbled ruins of lesser homes and palaces.
We got free entry as it was a national Republic day then. The temple complex is huge. The archaeology remains appear much grand than in pictures. However still in good shape particularly the temple of Neptune. I would suggest to buy a booklet giving information and it has nice illustrations about how this place must have looked in its heydays. Nice break from crowded tourists spots along amalfi coast
A very impressive archeological park that we stumbled upon whilst motor biking from Diamanté to Salerno. Well worth the €15 ticket - the park is well maintained and well organised. Plenty of parking available and some nearby food options. It’s ideal to park at the exit, closer to Temple of Athena, and walk up to the entrance. Allow at least one hour, more if you visit the museum which is included in the ticket price.
This place is far more interesting than you expect. We were here for about 3 hours. The museum is informative. Once you are on the actual site it seems wrong to be able to walk all over the sites of the buildings. Beautiful mosaics are left open to the elements. Some visual representation of what the buildings may have looked like would have been useful. Excellent value for money. Signage around the site is poor though
Very nice place to visit, must be prepare for the heat and lots of walking. There are restaurants and souvenir stores to enjoy
A beautiful place to visit and get up and close to the Ancient Artifacts.

Magnificent well preserved Greek temples. There's an app called Paestum & Velia that explains the ancient site. Definitely download it before you visit as it helps you understand the ruins. The ticket was €15 for adults but under 18 was free. We loved being able to explore the area and absorb the history. We went on a weekday late in the afternoon so it was not too busy. Definitely worth a visit!
I love ancient sites, I've been lucky enough to see plenty of these throughout the countries around the Med. But this Paestum one, it's really something! The park is so beautiful with majestic trees everywhere, its roman ruins and, obviously, those breathtaking ancient greek temples of Hera and Athena. If you're a history enthusiast, you can't miss that one!
Sublime ancient greek temples (better than most you can find in greece). Absolutely no crowds on a sunny november afternoon. Unmatched vibes.
This archaeological park is a true treasure—beautifully preserved and impressively expansive. Its size means you can explore at your own pace without feeling overwhelmed by crowds, a refreshing contrast to more tourist-heavy sites. While getting there isn't the easiest journey, the reward is well worth the effort. The peaceful atmosphere and rich historical significance make it an unforgettable experience for anyone with a passion for the past.
Beautifully maintained. I’d highly recommend going here if you’re into architecture and archaeology. Fascinating. Good food stops nearby too. Great parking within steps of the museum. 3 euro lot.
Hard to put into words. If you’re a history lover, Paestum is a must. The ancient Greek temples are breathtaking, and walking through the ruins feels like stepping back in time. It’s peaceful, fascinating, and well worth the visit. You should also visit the nearby Museum as part of the tour, it’s fascinating.
We loved this stop, came here on an excursion from our cruise ship that docked in Salerno. Great ruins, fascinating. Greek & Roman ruins. Hot in the sun, bring water, not much shade while walking the ruins. Wayside signs explained what you were looking at in English.
***CLOSED ON MONDAYS FROM 20 OCTOBER TO 15 DECEMBER*** I would like to give 1 star because they do not have this information anywhere on the website. I returned on a different day and had a great visit hence the 3/5. Dozens of tourists (myself included) arrived on a Monday and had no choice but to leave disappointed. It’s incredibly disrespectful to those that come from all over the world to see this beautiful piece of cultural heritage. —— Easily accessible by train from Naples. The Paestum train station is a 10 minute walk away. Also easily accessed by car. Your ticket includes access to the archeological museum (across the street) and to the archeological site of Velia (45 km south). This archeological site is incredible. It’s not overrun with tourists and the temples are very well preserved. There are plaques and signs with explanations in Italian and English. The park has two entrances, but only one of them sells tickets and had a gift shop. If you want to enter via the other entrance, you will be told to purchase your ticket at the museum. A truly special place that is a must see when visiting the region.

The oldest of the three temples inside the archeological park. Still very well preserved within much restoration. You can still appreciate the precision and engineering it took to build such a large structure, and especially to have it remain upright after o we 2,000 years.
A brilliant historical part of Italys Greek occpancy. Two acropolis one older that the other side by dide. Dedicated Temples and architecture surrounded by mixed pre Roman and Greek ruins. Romanruins pre Roman.
What a wonderfully preserved piece of history. We had a guided tour. Imagine if you did a self tour or could take hours. So much to learn. And fact that you can touch makes it even more mesmerizing.
Thank you, Italy, for preserving such an amazing historical site. The Hera Temples at Paestum are truly remarkable — well maintained, awe-inspiring, and full of history. The entrance fee is also very reasonable for the experience. A must-visit!
Worth walking around and contemplating the majestic temples. Sadly the entry fee is fairly high.
Incredible how these temples from 400BC have been preserved so well. The museum is being redeveloped: expected to reopen fully in October 2023, currently only 20% of museum is accessible. But all the outdoor sites are open. Parking very reasonable: €3 for 3 hours (August 2023). Definitely worth having a guide, though audio guides are available.
Temples and the most of the city is very well preserved. Yet, it is one place in Italy where you don't fight the crowds. Three town itself is beautiful with the fresh cheese farms and a wonderful beach. I'm sure it's way more crowded in the summer months.
Temples to Hera – Paestum, Italy. The two largest temples of Paestum, long mislabelled as the “Basilica” and “Temple of Neptune”, are now widely thought to honour Hera, Queen of the Gods. The absence of any inscribed dedication leaves this a scholarly deduction, drawn from votive finds and the city’s known cult practices. Built in the 6th and 5th centuries BCE, their massive Doric columns rise without ornament, their weathered fluting still catching the light from the Tyrrhenian coast. Even stripped of cult image and ritual, they command the plain with a solemn grandeur — stone witnesses to a city where Greek settlers, Roman conquerors, and medieval farmers each left their trace.

Not a huge amphitheater, plus it’s partially destroyed due to typical modern man paving a road right through the middle of it, but still very well preserved, and you can visualize what it must’ve looked like back in the day.
🏛In my opinion a little bit too expensive. The price is the same as the one in Pompei with the difference that Pomepi is 4 times bigger and it takes more to visit and much more details to look at. However the site is of an inestimable importance and its absolultly worth it to visit. 📍The valley of Paestum is special to me for a mix of reasons ( the morphology- food - weather - history- traditions) The If you like sunsets and history you can here combine that if you visit it on a sunny and clear day. 🌅
To the east of the Italic Temple is a small Anfiteatro or Roman Amphiteater. Central element of Roman Paestum, the amphitheater was built around 50 BC to towards the end of the 1st century AD. An external ring has been added to increase its capacity. Only the southern half of theater is still visible. In 1930, Highway 18 was built across the site, burying the northern half. The road was designed to pass by the ruins in order to provide the experience of seeing the ruins up close, but without thinking about what was still hidden. It is said by local inhabitants that the civil engineer responsible was tried, convicted and received a prison sentence for what was described as wanton destruction of a historic site.
Interesting site on way between the two temple complexes
Currently it's closed so you can only see it from the street
Just incredible - a definite must visit

Great mozarella, such a relexed place to stop on the way. They havesome spreads and snacks to buy, gave us cultery :) to have a picnic.
We just visited rivabianca the daughter of the owner and the owner showed us the whole process of the mozzarella di buffala and la ricotta, it was really interesting for us,it’s not just a job but a passion, They know how to share it , thank you so much for hosting us like that 😀😀😀
Quite possibly the best mozzarella on the planet. There are bigger more well known operators, but you can't beat the friendly service here and the quality of the products is second to none. Everything is made fresh on the premises.
Magnificent Mozzarella. Doesn't come cheap for local standards, but the complexity of the cheese is worth it. They also sell fine buffala meat.
Excellent place, mozzarella buffalo is very tasty, staff is very nice
(Translated by Google) Lots of products and all the ones I've had are amazing... fresh caciocavallo, yogurt, delicious scamorza. I stopped mainly for the meat, and as soon as I entered I immediately found a connection with the tall gentleman, presumably the owner... he even photocopied the recommended marinade for the meat. Buffalo cooked on the grill this evening, with its marinade, a fantastic result. 10 and praise... spectacular meat. 10 e lode... carne spettacolare. Grazie

We entered smoothly paying for two beds and a palm umbrella. There were very clean facilities and showers. Beautiful beach not at all crowded and peaceful - it was perfect. A shame it closed at six. Get there early. The sea is safe and shallow and goes out very far quite shallow all the way.
We visited Lido Mec in Paestum in August ‘24. In the end, it is a good place to go. Prices are fair, the place is clean, the beach is good and there are very friendly people to walk you to the beds and umbrellas. On internet it was mentioned that Lido Mec is pet-friendly. However: at the doorstep it turned out that only goes for dogs below 5 kilograms (wtaf?!). Which our “whatever-I-see-I-eat-labrador” is not. This took quite some discussion back-and-forth with the manager, who refused to let us in in the first place, even though we said we travelled a long way to get to Lido Mec. Eventually, they granted us entry to a place in the back, far away from the other guests. Which was fine for us: we had a place, we enjoyed the beach and water and -as always-, everybody at the beach fell in love with the Labrador. So if Lido Mec is willing to be a bit flexible in their door-policy for dogs, it is a place I can highly recommend!!
Very cold. Prior at reception a bit greedy when see a tourist, trying to max out.
Nice Beach. Good facilities.

Very nice beach😊
Awful service, an hour and half wait for the nuddle dish of my three year old daughter. My dish came burned but I paid it full price and did not get even an apology. Another dish was completely forgotten. The antipasti came after the main dish. Absence of professionalism. Fish dishes were beyond average. Nuddlles were decent. A really low quality. Not to recommend.
Beautiful. Clean. Great umbrella and shade areas. Great restaurant. Bar (coffee) You will not be dissapointed. Parking is limited in high season.. Make sure you orient yourself to parking in area. There are parking lots nearby.. Just street parking immediately in front. Worth it. Archaelogical areas are within minutes.
Great place and the service was amazing! We moved to a gazebo in due course and the stuff even helped us moving our personal things. Best "lido" in the whole Cilento.

Very beautiful dome. There is a chaple below the church that has an larger than life size statue of Jesus praying at Gethsemane before his passion. You can feel the emotion of Jesus at that moment. You really must see this and it is a great place for reflection and prayers
A beautiful place for self-reflection, meditation & prayer. You will find peace of mind & serenity at this sanctuary.
The receptionist is rude and impertinent. He told me if I lived on earth or on the moon just because I asked the rates for one night to sleep at the Sanctuary with my family. It is very surprising the reaction of a Sanctuary that supposedly welcomes in a hospitable and non-profit way. The prices they charge are by the way normal hotel prices.
Contrary to what you say, the receptionist who spoke badly was not a lady but a gentleman who spoke good Spanish, and he's still there as I had him on the phone this afternoon. His tone was humiliating, contemptuous and impertinent, and far from the hospitality you preach, testimony to much greed. Your justification is not only misleading, but also hypocritical and therefore unacceptable. I wanted to point this out to you in order to set the record straight. It's a pity that such a supposedly religious and spiritual institution should take the liberty of mistreating people.
Always a beautiful, peaceful visit.

A 1500 year-old church that’s pretty cool inside. There’s a couple plaques around to help you understand the history and renovations of this place. From what I understand it was almost totally lost and used to keep animals inside at one point. Nice to see it reclaimed so we can see the history here.
Beautiful and simple. Take your lunch in the Plaza in front and then step inside this old church.
The church dates back to the 5th century AD. even if it has been reworked several times. The latest restorations have brought to light the very ancient columns that had been incorporated into the masonry of the baroque renovation. In the central apse, you can admire some fragments of frescoes of the eleventh century. In order to find the floor of the early Christian church, the restorers had to dig for about two meters and this led to a curious effect, unlike what happened in the past where the church was accessed by climbing a few steps to symbolize the ascent to heaven to access go down to the basilica.
The original Church of Our Lady of Annunciation dates back to the beginning of the fifth century A. D. when it was erected as an open basilica. Subsequently between the end of fifth and the beginning of sixth centuries it was transformed into a closed basilica. We have traces of information from 1500 onwards from those so called 'ad limina' reports - the reports concerning the state affairs of the Diocese of Capaccio written by the Bishops or by their provosts. These reports were intended to illustrate the conditions in which the bishop had found various churches. At the time the region was sunk in a state of desolation, corruption and terror which had begun with the barbarian invasions and was to continue through the centuries, including all the eighteenth century. In fact the banditry was widespread, poverty was much and the ecclesiastical income was very low. The Church at Paestum had been partially restructured at the beginning of the 1500s by the Bishop Podocastoro. Towards the end of the the following century, Andrea Bonito, one of his successors had the Church restructured at his own experiences to avoid its imminent collapse. A few decades later, Bishop Agostino Idoardi again restructured the Church. Upon his arrival in Capaccio in 1724, he related that he had found the Cathedral very much like a stable or a nest of brigands, despoiled of all its Church furnishings. Idoardi built the high altar which he dedicated to Our Lady of Annunciation, the Chapel with the altar of St. Michael the Archangel in the left side aisle and the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows at the left side aisle. Bishop Raimondi, successor of Odoardi, completed the work by enriching the Church with marbles and ornaments for the high altar. Moreover, in 1760 he had a 'palatiolum' built adjacent to the Cathedral. This is the elegant little structure next to the Church, which until the last century was the residence of the Bishops who wanted to have a period of rest. In the second half of the twentieth century, the Cathedral was restored to the form it had prior to the intervention of Bishop Odoardi. This restauration work freed the ancient columns that had been enclosed within the eighteenth century pilasters and brought down the Church flooring to its original level which was lower by almost two metres. For this reason today one must descend a few steps to enter into the Church.

Annunziata dates back to the early 5th century AD, when it was built as an "open basilica," later transformed into a "closed basilica" between the end of the 5th and the beginning of the 6th century. We have records of the building from 1500 onwards, thanks to the so-called ad limina reports, which were written by bishops or their superiors on the state of the diocese of Capaccio. The reports documented the conditions in which each bishop found the churches. At the time, the area was in a state of desolation, corruption, and terror, which began with the barbarian invasions and continued until the 18th century. Indeed, banditry was widespread, poverty was considerable, and ecclesiastical revenues were among the lowest in the Kingdom. Bishop Tommaso Carafa wrote in his report of 26 June 1644 Situs ipsius est asperrimus ("the site itself is very rough"), while Bishop Giocoli, in a letter of 1720, defined the entire diocese as "very disastrous". The church of Paestum had been partially rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century by Bishop Podocataro, while his successor, Andrea Bonito, had restored the religious hall at his own expense at the end of the following century to avoid its imminent collapse. A few decades later, Bishop Agostino Odoardi carried out a new renovation of the church. Upon his arrival in Capaccio (1724), he reported having found a cathedral similar to a stable or a thieves' den, devoid of any sacred furnishings. Odoardi created the high altar, dedicated to the Annunciation, the chapel with the altar of St. Michael the Archangel in the left aisle, and the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in the right aisle. Odoardi's successor, Bishop Raimondi, completed the work, enriching the church with marble and ornaments for the high altar. In 1760, Raimondi also built a palatiolum near the cathedral, the current elegant building adjacent to the church, which, until the last century, served as a residence for bishops seeking rest from their labors. The ecclesiastical hall was restored to its pre-Bishop Odoardi appearance with a restoration project in the second half of the 20th century. This freed the ancient columns enclosed in eighteenth-century pillars and restored the church's original floor level, almost two meters lower. For this reason, the Annunziata is now accessed via a staircase. EARLY CHRISTIAN BASILICA CHURCH OF THE SS. ANNUNCIATION THE ANCIENT CHURCH DEDICATED TO THE SS. ANNUNCIATION DATES BACK TO THE EARLY 5TH CENTURY AD, WHEN IT WAS BUILT AS AN "OPEN BASILICA," ONLY TO BE TRANSFORMED INTO A "CLOSED BASILICA" BETWEEN THE LATE 5TH AND EARLY 6TH CENTURIES. Records of the building date back to 1500, thanks to the so-called ad limina reports, which were written by the bishops or their superiors on the state of the diocese of Capaccio. THANKS TO THE LATEST RESTORATIONS CARRIED OUT ON THIS CHURCH, ITS ANCIENT COLUMNS, WHICH HAD BEEN INCORPORATED INTO THE PILLARS OF THE BAROQUE RENOVATION FOR ABOUT TWO CENTURIES, HAVE COME TO LIGHT. TO FIND ITS ORIGINAL FLOOR, IT WAS NECESSARY TO EXCAVATE 2 METERS. THIS IS WHY THE CHURCH IS NOW ACCESSED BY A STAIRCASE. (Original) CHIESA DELLA SS.

Nausicaa Beach Club in Paestum was one of the highlights of our summer. We spent the afternoon with friends sipping cocktails in their beautiful beach cabanas, all while taking in an unforgettable sunset over the water. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance of stylish and relaxed, with loungy music setting the tone for a slow, perfect unwind by the sea. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and every drink we ordered was crafted with care and tasted amazing. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a quiet day on the beach or elevate your vacation with a bit of luxury, I highly recommend this lido. Nausicaa Beach Club is the ideal spot for anyone traveling in the area who wants to enjoy the beach in comfort, style, and great company.
Excellent place to stay. We paid 20€ for three. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed to eat at the time we decided to go there at 4 pm.
the staff is really kind, the place is beautiful and organised. just they could close the beach later. for me at 19.30 is a bit early. anyway congrats
The staff was nice and girl on reception spoke English. Everybody was helpful and smiling. The beach was clean
Nice, clean, chic and modern. Friendly staff. Beach is great. Cabanas available. Funny they also have one staff member that speaks german😀
Nice place on the beach, good food and wine but very crowded

The food was very good, prices were in line with those of local beach clubs, the portions were generous, and the staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. From the outside, I also found the umbrella and gazebo areas to be very well-kept. It's a shame they don't currently serve dinner! Absolutely charming church. The ceiling is breathtaking.
Marvelous landscape!
So beautiful and peaceful in front of a breathtaking scenery
This is one of the popular sanctuaries in Cilento. You may find the name of the sanctuary a bit strange, but going through the theological explanations you can accept it. As being the second Eve, Blessed Virgin brings a different fruit (Jesus who is also represented as a pomegranate - a symbol of clusters of mystery). The Eve in the Old Testament brought the fruit of sin and in her sin she bore her sons. Often the Diocesesan and other pilgrimages reach the sanctuary. The sanctuary has a Josephine Monk as the rector. Yearly festival in honour of Our Lady of Granato (pomegranate) is celebrated on 15th August (feast of the Assumption). Pilgrims come by foot bringing decorated candles (le cende) on their head. Some are inspired by their simple faith and some out of their superstitions. The sanctuary is on a hill of Capaccio and from there you can see many places like Paestum and Agropoli. A tour connecting Paestum and Cilento can have a spiritual visit at the sanctuary to complete.
(Translated by Google) It's a sanctuary that exudes an unusual sense of spirituality. It's located high up, offering a beautiful view of the entire Paestum plain. The Madonna del Granato holds a pomegranate, a symbol of fertility and abundance. Indeed, she is invoked for this. It's an itinerary I recommend to anyone who finds themselves in the area.

Expert guides tell the story of Jameson in a recreated distillery scene with tastings and dining.

It was incredible experience. Our tour guide was amazing. First you get free welcome drink - you have 3 options from Jameson (Jameson with lime and ginger is amazing). Then you go to first room, it’s about history of Jameson. Second room is about how to make Jameson and on third you learn about differences, how to smell and taste different Jamesons. With this guide, it was really amazing and I could stay longer than 45 minutes.
My wife and I took this tour on a Monday morning a few hours before our flight home and had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was very animated and obviously loved his job! Great tour through history all the way to current time. Definitely recommend this tour for any whiskey aficionados or anyone with just a taste for Jameson.
I paid about $26 for the Jameson Distillery tour and it was worth every penny. They start with a really cool 3D projector story about the history and how Jameson is made, then you move into a tasting room where you try four different Jamesons and learn how to properly smell and taste whiskey. It truly feels like a world-class experience. The premium ones were noticeably smoother (whiskey by itself definitely grows hair on your chest 😂), but it was fun, informative, and delicious. After the tasting, you get a drink included — they already have a bar set up with several cocktail options, and if you want another drink afterward you can buy more. The tour guide was incredible — funny, knowledgeable, and made it feel like he actually believed every part of the history. It was so good I found myself thinking, “Do y’all hire? I could work here too.” The staff overall was extremely friendly and helpful. They’ll even hold your bags if you’re coming straight from the airport like I was. There’s merchandise at the end if you want to shop, and the whole experience is just a lot of fun from start to finish. I would 100% come back and I’d tell anyone visiting Dublin to add this to their trip.
What an unforgettable experience at the Jameson Distillery! We opted for the Secret Whiskey Package and savored every moment. The tour was a delightful blend of history, craftsmanship, and fun, with fascinating insights into the company’s founder and the art of whiskey making. The highlight? Learning the skills of whiskey tasting, followed by a truly delicious sampling experience. Despite the bustling crowd of fellow travelers, the staff made us feel so special and welcome. We loved every minute and can’t wait to return!
Had a fantastic tasting tour on my second visit to this iconic Irish distillery. The guide’s deep knowledge and entertaining presentation made the experience memorable. It’s no wonder Jameson remains one of the world’s top selling whiskeys. Highly recommended!
Exactly everything you'd expect from a distillery tour. Great tour guide, samples of the whisky, and the best ambiance. All the employees were stellar and very nice to chat with. You can also purchase exclusive bottles you can't get anywhere else in the world.
This is one of the best distillery tour I’ve ever done! I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Dublin. Our tour guide was really informative and had a great demote of knowledge about the history of Jameson’s. I’m not usually a Whiskey drinker but after trying a Jamesons, Ginger Ale and Lime in the bar I am converted.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Jamison Distillery. I went with my husband and my daughter. It was very informative and quite interesting. There were several experiences during the tour. We tasted whiskeys that we hadn't tried before. Our new favorite one is Black Barrel. We've bought a bottle now that we're back home and have shared it with a neighbor. He is now a fan! I recommend going on this tour. It's fun, educational, and it even has a cute little shop inside.

Absolutely perfect. Just a 5 minute walk from the main part of town (with a bunch of fantastic restaurants and the stretch of road with the ancient Greek temples), you walk through beautiful orchard and we were greeted by Davide, who gave us great recommendations of where to eat and what to see. The room was amazing, larger shower, comfortable bed, AC. Overlooks a courtyard with a shaded veranda under an olive tree. In the morning we were greeted to a family affair breakfast. Davide's mom made an amazing breakfast, and he told us that everything except the croissants was made from scratch fresh from their farm. The orange juice came from their trees fresh squeezed, the olive oil, salad, fruit, eggs, and cakes all from the farm. Everything tasted amazing (and was included with our stay). Honestly our only regret is that we were simply passing through and only stayed one night. Highly recommended.
Perfect location for Paestum. Modern hotel like rooms on a farm setting. Vast parking area. Family owned and operated with a delicious and massive breakfast made by momma.
What an amazing place! Super clean and quiet. New building with a great bathroom. Great bed and pillows. We had no car but things were easily walked to. Davide and his mother were the perfect hosts. The breakfasts were amazing with a huge variety of food each morning. His mother also went out of her way to find us umbrellas to make our day easier in the rain. David has excellent English and easy to talk to. Super approachable! He helped us by booking restaurants for us as we spoke no Italian. His suggestions of restaurants were perfect for us. Whenever possible, Davide would pick us up at night to ensure we got home safely. We were the only ones staying at Fuori le Mura at the time so Davide offered to collect us from the train and drop us back on our last day. Out of our 4 weeks in Italy, this was by far the best place we stayed at!
Thanks to Davide and his mum for an amazing couple of nights. Nothing too much trouble and accommodation lovely - beautiful rooms at the end of an olive tree lined drive with pomegranates growing in the fields. Breakfasts were amazing with lots of home cooked savouries, local mozzarella and cakes. Worth bringing a car - it's 1km from the station and a bit out of town, but Davide was super helpful with lifts. We'll definitely be back
I almost didn't want to post this review on Google, in fear that I'd bring the crowd to this amazing and quaint B&B I long to return in the near future. Yet I'd love to share how wonderful the host Davide and his mum are. If I could give them 10 stars, that's still not enough. The place is meticulously taken care of and homey. His mum would prepare a fabulous spread of breakfast in the morning... from scratch. She would tell you which one she didn't make herself. Davide, on top of being a gracious and kind host, is very resourceful when it comes to what to eat/do in Paestum. I will return in a heartbeat to Fuori Le Mura. It was my home away from home, not just because of the super comfortable mattress and pillows and lovely bathroom, but the warmth welcome and homecooking made me feel like I was visiting my own family.
A fantastic place, so close to the incredible sights of Paestum...highly recommended!
We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful small boutique accommodation in Paestum for two weeks, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect base from which to explore this remarkable area. With four spacious rooms, each one feels private and thoughtfully designed — tastefully and individually decorated with quality furnishings. The location is truly special — just a stone’s throw from the breathtaking archaeological park. Arriving is part of the charm: a beautiful drive through an avenue lined with olive trees and lush hedges of laurel sets the scene for the peaceful retreat that awaits. This place is a reflection of the beautiful people behind it — the owners of Fuori Le Mura. It is their generosity, kindness, and incredible hospitality that make a stay here so special. This is a heartfelt mother-and-son effort where both bring their own strengths, ensuring guests are looked after in the best possible way. Titti’s warmth shines through every morning — we’re still not sure how she managed to prepare a different delicious breakfast every single day for two weeks! Her son Davide is always ready help and gives thoughtful recommendations and local tips to help guests discover hidden treasures. Another person who deserves a special mention is Laura and her beautiful presence — she, too, brings warmth and genuine care that make this place feel so welcoming. If you’re looking for a peaceful, stylish, and truly memorable place to stay in Paestum, this hidden gem is an experience in itself — a perfect blend of comfort, character, heartfelt care, and an unbeatable location beside some of Italy’s most extraordinary history. We would return in a heartbeat.
What an unbelievable, peaceful bed and breakfast! Location cannot be better, within walking distance to restaurants and the beautiful historic ruins. Bed was extremely comfortable, great pillows (best I have had so far). Delicious breakfast, wonderful hosts. Could not recommend more! I cannot wait to return and see how Davide’s dreams unfold.
